Fastening doors in the closet. How to install sliding doors in a closet video - step-by-step instructions for installing interior video, how to install and hang. Attaching the bottom guide

Starting major renovation in the apartment, many also think about changing furniture. Replacing an old cabinet with a new one is the desire of many. When doing this, most people prefer to buy sliding systems. They are comfortable, save space, and fit well into any interior. Such designs gained enormous popularity immediately after their appearance on the furniture market and continue to hold a leading position. You can entrust the assembly of the sliding wardrobe and its repair to a specialist or do it yourself.

Installation instructions

The most important part of the work is installing the doors. They can only be put in place after the cabinet has been completely assembled. Its doors should be perfectly level. The entire performance of the structure depends on this. Therefore, before installation sliding system Level the floor and ceiling with your own hands.

To install wardrobe doors, you need to perform a certain sequence of actions.

  1. Installing the top guide.
  2. Attaching the bottom guide.
  3. Installation of the clamp.
  4. Adjustment of canvases.
  5. Buffer tape sticker.

Installing the top guide yourself

The top guide is metallic profile W-shaped. It is attached flush with self-tapping screws at a distance of 450-600 millimeters parallel to each other, that is, in each recess of the profile. If this is not done, the profile becomes slightly twisted, which affects the operation of the system. For fastening, first measure the width of the cabinet at the top, subtract 1-2 millimeters and cut off the guide. Using a drill and a drill bit, we make holes for the screws, which are then ground.

Attaching the bottom guide

To attach the bottom rail with your own hands, the width of the cabinet at the bottom is also measured, then holes are made on the profile. The installation has one peculiarity. The profile must be fixed with an offset inside the structure. The recess is 20 +/- 2 millimeters. The exact distance is determined as follows.

Simply place the guide in the cabinet. Then you need to install the sashes. You can't do this without an assistant. The rear panel is placed first, and then the front panel. One person will insert it into the upper profile, and the second into the lower one, while lifting the wheels. By moving the profile, align the door strictly vertically using a level. Having determined the ideal position of the canvases, we fix the guide.

Installing the retainer

The clamp is necessary in order to door leaf did not slip, but remained in closed position, tightly adjacent to the side wall of the cabinet. It must be inserted into the bottom groove of the profile before it is screwed to the bottom. The latch is adjusted using a flat screwdriver. It must be placed in such a position that the middle of the stopper is where the middle of the wheel is when the blade is closed. To do this, before installing the stopper, the blade is closed and the location of the middle of the wheel is marked on the profile.

Adjusting the blades

After installing the doors in place, you need to make adjustments so that the door fits evenly to the side and does not form gaps. For this purpose, the lower wheels have adjustment holes. The setting is made with a hex wrench. Turning clockwise raises the blade, counterclockwise lowers it.

Buffer tape sticker

The function of the buffer tape is to protect the contents of the cabinet from dust. Therefore, there is no way to do without it. In addition, it softens the impact of the canvas on the sidewall when opening, increasing the service life of the sliding system.

Buffer tape can have two pile lengths:

  • 6 mm – short;
  • 12 mm – long.

Long pile tape is not used often, but will provide more comfortable use of the cabinet. Its color matches the color of the entire system. It is easy to glue with your own hands. You need to remove the protective layer from the back side and attach it to the end of the door leaf.

Door repair

Some time after the start of use, sliding doors may begin to close poorly. This is often due to dust, lint and other debris getting into the working mechanism. Repair in this case consists of lifting the blade up as much as possible and assessing the condition of the roller that sets it in motion. The mechanism is cleaned of accumulated debris, and if necessary, the roller is replaced with a new one.

If the door jams in one of its positions, we can conclude that the profile is deformed. Repair in such a situation comes down to aligning the guides. If this is impossible to do for any reason, then it is replaced.

For more serious damage, such as a cracked mirror or bent frame, replacing the broken element of the system will help. Such repairs can be done with your own hands by purchasing everything in advance necessary details. To do this, you need to remove the door and disassemble it, after which a replacement is made. After replacing the part with a new one, the door needs to be put back in place.

Knowing how to hang doors on a wardrobe with your own hands, as well as how to carry out repairs when needed, you will enjoy your work and save your family budget.

Installing the cabinet does not require special knowledge and can be done without any problems by yourself, without resorting to the services of a specialist. To install the wardrobe doors yourself, you will, of course, have to figure it out. To do this, you need to have installation instructions on hand. By constantly checking your actions with it, you will be able to assemble the cabinet without additional time and material costs that may result from incorrect actions.

The most difficult and scrupulous part of the work is the assembly and installation of sliding wardrobe doors. It is this process that needs to be given attention Special attention. If they are installed incorrectly, this will cause a lot of problems, and the cabinet will break in the near future.

Be sure that after finishing the work you will not doubt for a second that you have chosen the right type of product.

Sliding wardrobes, immediately after the appearance of furniture products on the market, gained enormous popularity and sharply pushed their classic hinged counterparts into the background. For a long time, such products have retained the laurels of leadership due to their appearance, ease of use and others. useful characteristics. They solve many problems such as rational use usable space, silent opening and closing, addition general interior in the room while adding elegance to it.

First you need to completely assemble the wardrobe body. You need to make sure that it is perfectly level. If necessary, make the necessary manipulations to achieve the desired result. If this is not done, then there is no point in installing door panels, since the end result will not suit you. They will stand unevenly, on the sides, between the doors and the walls of the cabinet (in the closed position) there will be visible gaps that hurt the eyes. To fix this problem, you will need to dismantle the door panels yourself and do all the work from the very beginning.

To install cabinet doors with your own hands, you must have a set of tools, which includes:

  • drill;
  • a screwdriver with a set of bits, or a set of screwdrivers;
  • metal drills;
  • pliers;
  • hammer;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • building level, plumb line;
  • tape measure, construction ruler or square;
  • pencil;
  • hexagon.

What components should be available:

  • guide profiles designed for fastening to the ceiling and floor;
  • door panels assembled with fittings;
  • clamps (stoppers);
  • buffer tape.

Installation

Be sure to follow the installation order to get the desired result. Installation of sliding doors for a sliding wardrobe is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. Preparation and installation of the upper guide profile.
  2. Preparing and checking the bottom guide.
  3. Installing a stopper (clamp) in the lower guide.
  4. Installing the bottom guide.
  5. Installation and height adjustment of sashes.
  6. Adjustment and fixation of the stopper.
  7. Gluing sealant (buffer tape) to the ends of the door panels.

Top guide

The upper guide profile, when viewed from the end, is shaped like the letter “W”. Two of its grooves are designed for sliding wardrobe doors. Canvases are not hung on it. It serves to fix the sashes and prevent them from swinging from side to side and moving from the line of movement.

We prepare the profile for installation. To do this, you need to measure the width of the cabinet, namely the distance between internal parties its side walls. Subtract 1-2 mm from the obtained value and measure the profile of this length. Designate the cutting location with a pencil. For this we use a construction ruler or square. We cut the profile with a metal hacksaw. It will be easier to cut if you place a chair nearby and use it as a support.

In the workpiece, using a drill and a metal drill, we make holes in increments of 45-60 cm. It is important that the holes are in both grooves of the guide (each pair is on the same line). If this condition is not met, the rail may twist slightly, which will create additional difficulties. The quantity is determined by the length of the profile. We rub the holes with sandpaper to remove metal fragments that were formed as a result of drilling.

We place the upper guide flush with the ends of the side walls and fasten it to the ceiling using screws and a screwdriver.

Installing the Bottom Rail

To install the bottom rail in the cabinet with your own hands, you need to carry out manipulations with measurements and trimming, as well as with the top profile.

The peculiarity of installing the bottom rail is that it must be installed by moving it about 2 cm deep into the cabinet, where it is attached. To determine the mounting location accurately, you need to perform several steps. You will need one assistant, since it will be difficult to do it with your own hands.

So, we place the profile at the intended mounting location. We take the door leaf and insert it into the upper guide. After this, pressing the rollers from below, we place the doors in the groove of the lower guide. Using a building level, we check the verticality of the sash and, if necessary, move the rail. Having adjusted one side, we roll the door leaf to the other and align it strictly vertically. When you are sure that the door is positioned correctly, take a pencil and mark where the track will be attached. Remove the canvas.

Don't forget to drill holes for the screws in the rail. in front of him final installation you need to insert stoppers into the grooves. They are needed to fix the valves in the closed position. With their help, the cabinet will not open on its own.

After inserting the stoppers, secure the guide with screws in the previously designated location. Now we put the doors in their rightful place in the closet. Let's check how they move.

If all is well, you need to put the stoppers in place and secure them. To do this, close the cabinet and mark with a pencil where the wheels stopped. It is necessary to mark exactly the middle of the right roller for the right sash, and the left one for the left one. We roll back the doors and use a flat-head screwdriver to move the latches to the designated places. It is important that the middle of the stopper is located exactly where the middle of the roller was. Only in this position will the system work correctly.

Next, you can begin adjusting the sashes in height. For this purpose, they have specially designed holes at the bottom on the side ends. Through them, the rollers are adjusted using a hex key. The shutter will rise when the hexagon moves clockwise, and lower when moving in a clockwise direction. reverse side. These manipulations will help align the doors relative to each other, as well as eliminate gaps between them and the side walls when closed, if any. They may exist if the cabinet could not be completely leveled.

Final work

Now you can begin the final part of the work, namely attaching the buffer tape to the ends of the flaps. It will not allow dust to penetrate into the middle of the cabinet, and will also soften the impact of the doors on the walls each time they close.

The installation of the buffer tape is the final stage. If you do this without first aligning the shutters, then the adjustment will not be possible. You will have to peel off the seal with your own hands, adjust and stick the tape again.

What to do if the wardrobe is broken?

Let's start with the fact that if you carry out the installation correctly with your own hands and hang the doors in the wardrobe in compliance with all recommendations, and use the product carefully, then no breakdowns should occur in the next few years. But still, with the passage of time, some inconveniences may appear.

If the doors begin to move poorly on the rails or close, you must first check the condition of the rollers. Doing this yourself is not at all difficult, especially if you did the installation yourself.

Most often, the cause of this is dust and debris accumulated inside. sliding mechanism. To correct the situation, remove the door leaf, clean it and put it back in place. If the wheels are worn out, replace them. You can also do this yourself without any problems.

Jamming of the valves in the same position indicates deformation of the profile. In this case, you will have to try to level it. If this fails, you need to install a new rail.

More and more serious damage occurs from careless use.

Use your wardrobe correctly and carefully, and then it will last for a very long time.

Installing fasteners on cabinet doors and sides is a challenging process. From correct installation hinges depends on the balance of the sashes and their trouble-free operation for a long time. You can learn how to install hinges on a cabinet with your own hands from this material.

Fasteners installed on large-sized furniture are semi-mechanical elements that are responsible for opening the doors. Much depends on the material and thickness of the doors, so what the hinges are made of is also important.

The hinges must withstand regulatory loads.

For installation, overhead devices with four hinges, the so-called frogs, are most often used. Such fastenings are convenient for any design that involves hinged doors - wardrobe or kitchen cabinet, other types of furniture.

Metal parts are made of durable alloys that are resistant to corrosion and mechanical deformation.

Furniture hinges are divided into several types, depending on how they are attached:

  • Invoices;
  • Semi-overhead;
  • Deposits;
  • Inverse;
  • Piano;
  • Heel;
  • Stolnye, etc.

Types of furniture hinges.

For cabinets, overhead structures with cup bases are often used, which are connected to the panel using self-tapping screws. Mechanical inserts with a “shoulder” are inserted into these bases and fixed to the door and side panel.

Such fasteners are quite reliable and durable, since they have a reinforced connection to the planes.

Depending on the type of cabinet and its dimensions, as well as the material, choose suitable look connecting parts. Some elements are used exclusively for classic furniture, where all details must match the style. For ordinary wardrobes, standard overhead and semi-overlay fastenings are chosen.

For installation on sashes, it is necessary to use certified industrial products - this is a guarantee of strength and long service furniture and its individual parts.

  1. Before starting work, you need to prepare a set of tools and materials for furniture. Be sure to have a screwdriver, drill with appropriate attachments, a simple pencil, chalk, ruler or tape measure on hand. You will also need screws of a suitable size (usually sold together with hinges) and self-tapping screws of a certain cross-section.

    Tools for installing hinges.

  2. When installing fasteners, you need to consider the material you are dealing with and its structure. For loose or fibrous wood panels apply different types fastenings and methods of fixation. Glass surfaces also require a special approach. Two fastenings are mainly used - at the top and at the bottom. If the sash weighs a lot or exceeds a meter in length, then you can add another part in the center to strengthen it. If the weight exceeds 9 kg, the door is equipped with additional hinges - added for every 5 kg of weight. For kitchen cabinets, two hinges are usually used, for large items - from three.

    The maximum number of fasteners that can be placed on the door when long length and weighing 20 kg - 5 pieces.

  3. From top and bottom internal corners the doors need to be measured at least 10 cm, otherwise the door may “loose” over time and the screws will come out of the grooves.

    You cannot place the hinges at the level of the shelves - the door will not close.

  4. Before you begin installing fasteners, you must make markings. This will help connect the elements much more accurately.

    Use a pencil or fine chalk.

  5. The average length of the indentation from the edge of the cabinet door to the center of the hinge is 2.2 cm.

    This distance is for standard mounts.

  6. Before installing hinges on cabinet doors, wipe down the surfaces. Mark the locations of future joints with a sharp nail or awl.

    Preparing furniture for installation of fasteners does not require fuss. The correct operation of the doors depends on this.

Carefully check all the parameters of the cabinet doors, the location of the shelves, etc. You can make a preliminary sketch.

The cabinet doors are first fitted to the sides to make precise markings. First stage installing hinges - drilling holes for attaching cups.

Making hinges in a vertical position of the door is not always convenient. This will potentially reduce the accuracy of the connection.

Place the sash on a flat surface, securing it. Drill holes for the cup using a drill and cutter. It is important not to make too large recesses, 1.2 cm is enough. Insert the cups into the holes and screw the screws into the door part of the mount.

It is necessary that they fit into the grooves evenly, without distortion, otherwise the door will not be secured correctly.

To install the connecting parts, place the drill vertically - any tilt will make the work poor quality, and chips may appear, due to which the fastening will not hold securely. The strike plate on the side of the product can also be installed in a vertical position of the panel, having previously marked the joints.

When drilling, the drill must also be held very level.

If overhead parts are used, they are made “blind” so that they do not fall apart during connection and assembly. Such fastenings should not have gaps or distortions. Use help when connecting the sash and side frame.

Together, the work process will be more convenient, better and more accurate.

Installation of connecting parts on glass doors requires special care and caution. For such sashes, special fasteners are purchased. On the side of the side you will need holes that are drilled using a drill.

The glass sheet is fixed with clamps.

Furniture fastenings need adjustment. To do this, during the installation process, their fixation in depth and distance is checked. This can be done with horizontal or vertical position of the cabinet parts. After assembling the furniture, everything preliminary calculations will turn into a result, so it is important to spend more time on the markup and connection parameters in advance.

When choosing, you must first of all pay attention to the strength of the product; it should serve throughout the entire life of the furniture.

After installing the fasteners on the cabinet doors, you must carefully try the doors against the sides so that they match exactly. Mark the joints with a pencil. Fix the door and do fastening work on both sides. It is important that the accuracy of all cabinet parts is one hundred percent. Finish assembly and check operation.

When opening and closing for the first time, the doors may move somewhat stiffly if the hinges are not yet lubricated and developed.

After attaching the hinges to the cabinet is completed, it is recommended to drip a little inside the mechanism. machine oil. Then you need to wipe the surface with an absorbent cloth.

Check that all elements are working properly.

For a cabinet made of Chipboard is better take wide loops, since the base material may crumble.

The better quality all the elements of the assembled furniture are, the more reliable their operation will be.

When installing hinges on cabinet doors, do not forget that after a while the doors may sag under their own weight, especially if they are often left open. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically strengthen the hinges by tightening the screws. In modern fasteners this is easy to do - there is an additional recess in the oval part.

Try to adjust the parts carefully so as not to loosen the grooves.

It is also necessary to lubricate the cabinet hinges from time to time to prevent them from rusting or squeaking. When adjusting the fasteners, it is necessary to fix not only the screws connecting the cup or bar, but also the parts of the closer.

The mechanical part may wear out from use. Therefore, it is important to have 2-3 spare elements to replace a broken part. “Drawdown” is indicated by distortion and loose cover.

Work is carried out more often in rooms with uneven floors and high humidity.

If adjustment does not help, you should replace the old parts with new ones.

When changing fasteners on used furniture, you need to look at how suitable they are for it. It may be necessary to change the location of the new hinges due to loosening of the grooves.

After adjustment, check for gaps, tight fit of the doors when closing, overall mobility and evenness of the sash along the axis.

When installing several fasteners, you should calculate so that their location does not fall on internal elements furniture.

Furniture assembly usually ends with hanging the doors, so it is important to know how to install hinges on the cabinet.

How well this is done depends on the lifespan of the product and its appearance. There are various types of hinges on the hardware market. Each of them has its own characteristics.

To understand the technique of installing hinges, you first need to understand the differences between each type of fastener.

Design furniture hinge

Types of hinges for furniture

The following types of hinges are used for cabinet doors:

  • Hinge fasteners consist of two parts and are connected to each other by an axis. This is one of the most popular types of hinges, which were used in furniture made in the USSR.
  • Four-hinged hinges are an improved version of the previous type. They are versatile and suitable for various types cabinets

Types of hinges: hinged (left) and four-hinged (right)

Furniture hinges are divided into several subtypes, depending on the method of application and, accordingly, the area of application. Let's look at them in more detail:

  • Overlay and semi-overlay fasteners are used for exterior furniture doors.
  • Inset hinges are designed for internal partitions.
  • Corner fasteners suitable for assembly corner cabinets, regardless of their configuration.
  • Inverse hinges are installed if it is necessary for the furniture door to open at an angle of up to 180 degrees.

Types of furniture hinges depending on the method of application

Preparation for installation

A process such as installing hinges on a cabinet involves several stages of work. First you need to determine what tools you will need. For installation you will need to prepare:

  • pencil;
  • level;
  • roulette;
  • screwdriver (screwdriver);
  • drill;
  • hammer;
  • fasteners;
  • self-tapping screws measuring 4x16 mm.

Installing furniture hinges: what you need

Marking

First of all, you need to decide on the number of hinges that need to be installed on the door. This characteristic depends on the size and weight of the product. For small ones wall cabinets Two hinges are enough, for large furniture - from three. Compliance with the recommendations below regarding the number of fasteners will allow you to securely fasten the doors:

  • For products up to 100 cm and weighing no more than 9 kg, 2 furniture hinges are sufficient.
  • Doors measuring 100-150 cm and weighing up to 15 kg - 3 fasteners.
  • For facades up to 200 cm and up to 20 kg, 4 hinges are used.
  • Products 200-250 cm with a weight of more than 20 kg can withstand 5 fasteners. Installation of furniture hinges: as many as needed

For marking you will need a pencil, level and tape measure. At this stage, you should adhere to the following tips:

  1. The marking line should be located at a distance of 20-22 mm from the edge of the door.
  2. The hinges should be positioned 70-120 mm from the top and bottom ends of the door.
  3. If there are more than 2 fasteners, then the outer ones are placed first, and then the rest are evenly distributed so that they are at the same distance from each other.

Marking the cabinet door for the hole for the hinges

Drilling and installing hinges

After marking, you should proceed directly to installation. Installing hinges on a cabinet door consists of several stages. In order to do it yourself, you should follow the following instructions:

  1. In the place where the markings are made on the door, a niche is drilled for the hinge bowl.
  2. Fasteners are inserted into the prepared niche and aligned 180 degrees.
  3. Places for installing hinges are marked on the surface.
  4. Holes are drilled through which the fasteners are attached to the door.

Attaching the hinge to the cabinet door

  1. The door is placed in the place where it will stand and is well leveled. Markings are made on the cabinet body.
  2. The holes are drilled.
  3. The counterplate is installed.
  4. The parts of the loop are connected to each other.

Mounting the strike plate

Before installing furniture hinges on the cabinet, you should take into account the nuances of the process. The fasteners must be on the same axis; this is the only way they will last a long time. Otherwise, the load on the hinges will be uneven, and some of them will quickly fail.

To mark holes for screws, you can use ready-made templates, which will facilitate the process of marking future fasteners and allow you to do it as accurately as possible.

Adjustment

The furniture hinge can be adjusted in a vertical, horizontal plane or in depth. This depends, first of all, on the characteristics of the use of furniture in the future and other nuances. Let's take a closer look at each type of adjustment:

  1. In order to press the door closer to the body or, conversely, make the fasteners a little weaker, adjust the depth and fixation of the hinge. To perform the operation, a regular screwdriver is required. With its help, the oval hole is tightened on fastening element. This method adjustment is used if the room where the furniture is located has uneven floors.
  2. Vertical adjustment allows you to install the door higher or lower than it is located. Even a perfectly adjusted facade can sag over time, so it is recommended to carry out this procedure periodically.
  3. Horizontal adjustment is designed to eliminate gaps between the door and the cabinet body. At uneven surface floors in the room, this procedure is necessary.

Adjusting and securing furniture hinges

To make an adjustment, you must first diagnose the problem that has arisen. Once its cause has been determined, you will need to tighten it more tightly or, conversely, slightly loosen the bolt on the fastener body.

Installing a hinge on a glass cabinet door

Before installing hinges on a cabinet, you need to consider the material from which the furniture is made. Installation technology glass facade will have some features. Here are the main ones:

  • Same as with an ordinary door, at the first stage, a place for fastening is selected and markings are made.
  • Using a drill, holes are made in wooden frame furniture.
  • A loop is installed in the niche and secured using self-tapping screws and a screwdriver.
  • The glass surface is connected to the fastener through clamps.
  • The surface is placed in a loop.
  • There should be special rubber gaskets between the fastening element and the glass to protect the surface from damage.
  • The fasteners are securely fixed with bolts. Kit for installing furniture hinges on a glass surface

It is advisable to install the glass facade on the cabinet without drilling the surface. Working with thin material requires attention and if you move it carelessly, the door may break.

Installation of hinges on the cabinet is required when self-assembly furniture or in case of part failure. The process does not take much time and is quite feasible even for inexperienced craftsmen. The only thing you should pay attention to is the correct and clear marking. The success of all subsequent actions and the positive result of the work depends on this stage.

Types of hinges for cabinet doors and their installation

Fittings are an important element of any furniture. It determines the quality and service life, especially when it comes to cabinets. Its ability to perform a number of actions depends on how well it is used: opening, closing, etc.

Door hinges: what are they?

The most important element The cabinet fittings are hinges. They not only help to attach the facade to the body, but are also responsible for opening the doors. Moreover, the last procedure can be performed at different angles, which is very convenient during the operation of this type of furniture.

The choice of hinges that are used when assembling furniture is quite large. They differ both in their design features and other indicators. This greatly complicates the process of choosing them.

To do it correctly, you need to know what types of furniture hinges there are, their purpose, and how to secure these elements to the cabinet door.

This information will help you do all the work yourself and ensure long-term service to the product.

After the door frame is assembled, you need to hang the doors. To do this, you cannot do without a special mechanism that will ensure they open and close. Loops act as it.

When installing cabinet doors, hinge or four-hinge fasteners are mainly used. They differ in their appearance and functionality.

So, the first ones are presented in the form of two parts, which are connected by an axis.

This type of loop has been known for a long time. It has been used in furniture assembly for over twenty years. It is easy to install and convenient to use. Over time, this type of loop was improved. Thus, they have become universal, can be used in assembling different types of cabinets, and they are called four-hinged.

But such hinges are not suitable for glass and mirror doors. When assembling them, you need fittings equipped decorative overlay and a special ring that helps seal the structure. Such hinges are installed directly on the glass surface.

Door hinges: application method and area of application

Except design features, hinges can be installed in different ways. Thus, they distinguish between overhead and semi-overlay fittings, which are mainly used when assembling furniture with external doors.

Another option for hinges is inset hinges. They are well suited for partitions located inside the product. If the cabinet is corner, then corner fasteners are required when assembling it.

However, they come in different configurations.

As you know, door hinges provide their ability to open and close. Basically 90 degrees is enough. But in some cases it needs to be increased. Traditional hinges will not allow this. Therefore, to open furniture doors up to 180 degrees, it is necessary to install special fittings. Hinges that provide this ability to furniture doors are called inverse.

How to install a hinge on a cabinet door?

Installing hinges on cabinet doors is a simple procedure. If you assemble furniture yourself, then this procedure will be within your power. The main thing is to know its features and prepare properly. All other work will be done quickly and easily.

Before you begin installing the hinges, you need to prepare the tools without which this task cannot be solved. Their list is small and can be found in almost every home. Therefore, there will be no cost to purchase them. So, you need tools such as a pencil, level, screwdriver or screwdriver, screws, tape measure, drill. Well, and, of course, the fastening element itself.

Installing hinges on cabinet doors: stages of work

Once prepared necessary tools, you can move on to the main work. The first stage is to carry out markings.

It is carried out taking into account the interval, which is 80-130 mm, between the holes. It is necessary to mark their center on the facade of the product.

As for the number of hinges, this indicator depends on the height of the doors themselves. So, two or more loops can be used.

An important point in carrying out this work is maintaining the distance to the edge of the facade and shelves. Otherwise, the door will not close and it will not do well. It is generally accepted correct distance from the edge of the facade to the center of the hole 20 mm.

In order to make an opening, you will need a 34 mm drill. This will allow you to drill a hole of the required depth. Typically this figure is 13 mm. To do this, the drill is inserted into the drill. When carrying out work, hold the tool at an angle of ninety degrees. If you change this situation, cracks, chips and other things will inevitably appear that can ruin the appearance of the furniture.

Once the hinges are secured, you can begin installing the doors. But it is worth paying attention to how the fasteners are located. They must be on the same axis. This will ensure that the doors are placed evenly and the load is evenly distributed. If this is not observed, the product will quickly fail and will require repair.

Hinge adjustment

Loop adjustment is the final procedure in this process. At the same time, it requires an equally responsible approach, since it affects the quality of the mechanism.

Adjustment in progress different ways depending on how the furniture is used. If the door needs to be pressed against the door or, conversely, moved away from it, the fasteners are clamped or loosened.

The adjustment process is carried out according to the depth and fixation of the fittings. You can use a screwdriver to do this job. This adjustment method is mainly necessary in rooms with uneven floors.

It will ensure the opening and closing of the furniture door.

As practice shows, doors on furniture sag over time. Will help correct the situation vertical adjustment. She is responsible for placing doors along the height of the facade. You can adjust this, make it higher or lower.

If gaps appear between the door and the body, horizontal adjustment will help. It will eliminate them and ensure a tight fit of all furniture elements.

It is mainly used for furniture that is located on uneven floors.

Choosing fastenings for wooden doors

The modern furniture market offers a wide variety of types of furniture hinges. This can include both four-hinged hinges and simply hinged ones, used since Soviet times. Today, even modern furniture hinges sometimes cannot serve as a replacement for those types of door fittings that were produced during the USSR, despite their high level quality.

Hinge fastening diagram.

Let's take a closer look at all the types of furniture hinges that currently exist. Universal four-hinged fastenings for cabinet doors can withstand significant loads, having a large margin of safety. They can be installed on doors whose opening angle is in the range of 90-165°. They can be adjusted in 3 different planes.

The hardware for furniture doors includes 2 elements. The first of them is the hinge itself, which is attached to the door, and the second is the mounting strip, fixed to the side wall of the product, connected to the hinge installed on the cabinet door.

There are 4 types of four-hinged hinges used in furniture production, each of which should be used depending on the types of cabinet door fastenings.

Types of hinges for cabinets.

  1. An overlay used when the door must cover the sides of the niche in which it is located.
  2. A semi-overlay hinge used when overlaying 2 doors on the same side panel.
  3. Internal (used when fastening a cabinet door internally), which is located inside the side of the niche, and does not cover it.
  4. A hinge used to secure the door at an angle of 45°. This type of hinge is used to fasten the doors of corner cabinets or cabinets.

Before purchasing fastenings for cabinet doors, you should definitely check the type of furniture fittings offered with the seller. It must be borne in mind that four-hinged types of hinges are attached using 4*16 screws to the side walls of the cabinet. The mounting cup should have a diameter of 26 mm. The holes should have the same diameter.

Options for glass doors

Specially produced cabinet hinges with glass doors are reliable when used. In this case, the assembled finished product will look very beautiful. Using four-hinged types of hinges for glass doors, they can be attached at different angles.

The use of furniture hinges for glass cabinet doors allows them to be adjusted in 3 different planes.

Examples of calculating the height of the installation site.

With other types of loops such manipulations are impossible. The only drawback For such hinges, it is necessary to make all the holes for fastening at home, which poses a certain difficulty.

The design of furniture hinges for glass cabinet doors includes 4 elements:

  • mounting strip mounted on the side of the product;
  • a loop;
  • O-rings for connecting glass and hinges;
  • a plug that allows you to hide the loop from the outside.

The choice of the shape of the rings and plugs will not affect the strength of the connection as a whole.

There are piano hinges for furniture that have a simple mechanism that is not very reliable. Such loops include identical strips of brass or steel, connected in the middle by steel wire. This type of hinge is used mainly when assembling furniture for the kitchen, for which the use of other types of furniture hinges is not acceptable.

If it is not possible to purchase four-hinged hinges for glass or it is impossible to install them, you should pay attention to ordinary hinged hinges for glass doors. They include 2 types of elements, the first of which is the hinge itself, and the second is plastic seals, fixed into the hole for the hinge and onto the glass.

Leveling and Adjustment

Loop device diagram.

If there is a need to strengthen and adjust cabinet doors, which may be due to their breaking or displacement during a move, then this is not difficult to do if you have certain ideas about how to do it correctly.

First you need to understand the problem that has arisen. Only then proceed to the troubleshooting step with installing hinges. Basically, it may be necessary to adjust the hinges. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the angle at which the cabinet door opens.

A malfunction when closing the door occurs when the hinges begin to “pull” the cabinet door, which can also happen when using piano hinges. The fastening of the disc hinge must be precise, and the furniture hinge must be attached to the inside side of the cabinet.

For fastening you will need:

  • furniture hinge with hinges;
  • ring drill with a pointed tip;
  • mounting plate;
  • screws.

Drilling loop marking diagram.

The pointed tip of the annular drill is used as a center guide, and knives are needed to mill the poppet hole. A regular disc joint has a diameter of 35 mm, so purchasing an annular drill for accurate and uniform milling is necessary first.

Before you begin aligning the cabinet door, you should determine its exact location.

There should be small slots at the top and bottom of the door, which are necessary so that the doors can open and close freely. Holes for screws are placed using templates.

Then a disc-shaped hole is made to the required depth, and the mounting plate is secured. Once the door is aligned, the screw should be secured.

The cabinet door is adjusted on the basis of the furniture hinge's tape lever, which is equipped with 3 screws. The hinge is adjusted using the middle screw, which allows the cabinet door to move simultaneously in 3 different planes.

Installation of furniture mechanisms

For proper installation, the following types of tools are required:

  • cutter (d = 35 mm);
  • furniture hinge;
  • drill;
  • screws 3.5*16 mm;
  • roulette;
  • pencil.

Fig.1. Calculation of the required number of loops.

After preparing the tool, you need to move on to another stage related to marking. To do this, mark the center of each hole, the distance to which is taken in the range from 80 to 130 mm, which depends on the center of the facade. Required amount hinges, determined by the height of the facade, are provided 2 pieces or more. Do right choice The table in Figure 1 will help you determine the quantities.

When marking, it is very important to ensure that after drilling and fastening there is no contact with the shelf, since the door will not close. You should correctly measure the distance to the center of the hole from the edge of the facade, which should be 21-22 mm.

Drilling is done using a 35mm diameter drill bit, which is inserted into the drill to make a hole with a groove depth of 12.5mm.

In order to carry out fastening by inserting a loop, such a hole will be enough. To make the hole correctly, the drill must be held at an angle of 90° to the facade.

The perpendicular position of the drill will help prevent the formation of cracks, chips and irregularities.

It is best to take a small piece of chipboard and practice before starting to make holes with a drill. In this case, it is necessary to ensure that the drill does not come out on the other side. This training will not allow the drill to come out when installing the hinges. After this, you can attach the hinges and then hang the facade, completing the installation process yourself.

Installing fasteners on cabinet doors and sides is a challenging process. The balance of the sashes and their trouble-free operation for a long time depend on the correct installation of the hinges. How to install hinges on a cabinet with your own hands , you can learn from this material.

Fastenings , installed on large-sized furniture , are semi-mechanical elements , which are responsible for opening the valves. Much depends on the material and thickness of the doors, so what the hinges are made of is also important.

The hinges must withstand regulatory loads.

For installation Most often, overhead devices with four joints, the so-called frogs, are used. Such fastenings convenient for any design that involves hinged doors - wardrobe or kitchen cabinet, other types furniture.

Metal parts are made of durable alloys that are resistant to corrosion and mechanical deformation.

Furniture hinges are divided into several types, depending on how they are attached:

  • Invoices;
  • Half overhead;
  • In storerooms;
  • And inverse;
  • Ryalnye;
  • Feeding;
  • Ш tolnye, etc.

Types of furniture hinges.

For cabinet Overhead structures with cup bases are often used, which are connected to the panel using self-tapping screws. Mechanical inserts with a “shoulder” are inserted into these bases and fixed to the door and side panel.

Such fasteners are quite reliable and durable, since they have a reinforced connection to the planes.

Depending on type cabinet and its dimensions, as well as the material, select the appropriate type of connecting parts. Some elements used exclusively for classic furniture, where all details must match the style. For ordinary wardrobes, choose standard overhead and semi-overlay fastenings

For installation on the doors, it is necessary to use certified industrial products - this guarantees the strength and long service life of the furniture and its individual parts.

Preparation for installation

  1. Before starting work, it is necessary to prepare a set of tools and materials for furniture .

For loose or fibrous wood panels, different types of fastenings and fixing methods are used. Glass surfaces also require a special approach. Two are mainly used fastenings - above and below.

    The maximum number of fasteners that can be placed on a door with a large length and weight of 20 kg is 5 pieces.

  3. You need to measure at least 10 cm from the upper and lower inner corners of the door, otherwise the door may become loose over time and the screws will come out of the grooves.

    You cannot place the hinges at the level of the shelves - the door will not close.

  4. Before you begin installation fasteners must be marked. This will help connect elements much more accurate.

    Use a pencil or fine chalk.

  5. Average length of indentation from the edge of the sash cabinet to the center of the loop is 2.2 cm.

    This distance is for standard mounts.

  6. Before installing hinges on the door cabinet wipe surfaces. Mark the locations of future joints with a sharp nail or awl.

    Preparing furniture for installation of fasteners does not require fuss. The correct operation of the doors depends on this.

Carefully check all parameters of the sashes cabinet , arrangement of shelves, etc. You can make a preliminary sketch.

Installation of fasteners

Cabinet doors first try on the sidewalls to make accurate markings. Initial installation stage loops - drilling holes for attaching cups.

For installation When connecting parts, place the drill vertically - any tilt will make the work poor quality, and chips may appear, due to which the fastening will not hold securely.The strike plate on the side of the product can also be installed in a vertical position of the panel, having previously marked the joints.

When drilling, the drill must also be held very level.

If overhead parts are used, they are made “blind” so that they do not fall apart during connection and assembly. Such fastenings should not have gaps or distortions.Use help when connecting the sash and side frame.

Together, the work process will be more convenient, better and more accurate.

Installing connecting parts on glass doors requires special care and attention. For such sashes, special fasteners are purchased. On the side of the side you will need holes that are drilled using a drill.

The glass sheet is fixed with clamps.

Leveling and Adjustment

Furniture fastenings need adjustment. For this in the process installations check their fixation by depth and distance. This can be done with horizontal or vertical position of the parts closet After assembling the furniture all preliminary calculations will turn into results, so it is important to spend more time on marking and connection parameters in advance.

When choosing, you must first of all pay attention to the strength of the product; it should serve throughout the entire life of the furniture.

After installing the fasteners on the cabinet doors It is necessary to carefully try the sashes on the sidewalls so that they match exactly. Mark the joints with a pencil. Fix the door and do fastening work on both sides. It is important that the accuracy of all details cabinet was one hundred percent. Finish assembly and check operation.

When opening and closing for the first time, the doors may move somewhat stiffly if the hinges are not yet lubricated and developed.

After attaching the hinges to the cabinet finished, it is recommended to drop a little machine oil inside the mechanism. Then you need to wipe the surface with an absorbent cloth.

Check that all elements are working properly.

For cabinet It is better to use wide hinges from chipboard, since the base material may crumble.

The better quality all the elements of the assembled furniture are, the more reliable their operation will be.

Installing hinges on the door cabinet , do not forget that after a while the sashes may sag under their own weight, especially if they are often left open. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically strengthen the hinges by tightening the screws. In modern fasteners this is easy to do - there is an additional recess in the oval part.

Try to adjust the parts carefully so as not to loosen the grooves.

It is also necessary to lubricate the hinges from time to time. cabinet so that they do not rust or creak. Adjusting fastenings , it is necessary to fix not only the screws connecting the cup or bar, but also the parts of the closer.

When installing several fasteners, you should make sure that their location does not get on the internal elements of the furniture.

Only after appearing on the market, sliding wardrobes gained popularity among the majority of residents of large and small cities. They have been confidently holding a leading position in the list of furniture sales for many years now. In today's understanding, a sliding wardrobe is a simple combined system that allows you to save space in the house and favorably emphasizes the features of the interior. It is worth noting that this piece of furniture fits into almost any design. Possibility of installing the cabinet even in small apartment, as well as sliding doors are the main advantages of this model. In this article we will talk about how to install sliding wardrobe doors with your own hands. If you follow the recommendations provided in this article, then installing this element of cabinet furniture will not take much of your time and effort.

Sliding wardrobe doors do not take up much space, which is why many owners choose it small apartments. This is due to the fact that the cabinet doors do not need to be opened 90º. It is convenient to take things out of such a closet. It is quite functional, and thanks to design variations, even the most atypical buyer who has decorated an unusual interior in his house/apartment can find his own wardrobe.

Wardrobe doors can be decorated in different ways - from personal photo to your favorite landscape, from painting to artificial aging of the surface. There is quite a lot of scope for imagination here.

Some companies offer their services for assembling a cabinet and installing doors to it. Typically, such a service costs about $50, which can significantly hit your wallet during the repair period.

The cabinet is assembled according to a simple scheme. The greatest difficulty lies in installing the doors. In order for them to work well and reliably, you need to adhere to their installation pattern. You will need top and bottom guides. There should be 1 of them. top and bottom for each door. The main load of the door falls on the lower guides, which means that you should not skimp on these elements. If you really want to save money, then it is better to buy lighter doors, but no less high-quality guides. Another useful detail of the door design is the stopper. It is used to adjust the opening width of the product.

The dimensions of the guides must correspond to the width of the cabinet. The difference between plus and minus 3 mm is not significant, so a small error in size is allowed. First, install the top rail.

The guides are fastened with self-tapping screws with a 4.2×16 press washer or with universal-purpose screws with a 3.5×16 countersunk head. Make a hole in the top guide using a 4mm drill. The pitch between the holes is approximately 300 mm.

If you have to secure the guide profile with a screw with a countersunk head, then you need to make a countersink in the holes using a 6–8 mm drill. This is necessary so that the screw, so to speak, sits completely. So, the instructions for installing the top rail are quite simple. After you make the holes in the profile, it needs to be inserted, aligned flush and secured.

In this case, you also need to make holes in the profile. But don’t rush to fix the bottom rail to the cabinet. This is due to the fact that it needs to be shifted inside the cabinet by 20 mm. For precise definition indentation, you must first put the lower guide profile in the cabinet. Then install the doors to the closet. In this matter you cannot do without an assistant. The door must be installed strictly vertically. This can be achieved by moving the lower guide profile, while checking the vertical level.

Installation of the clamp is carried out before screwing the lower guide. How to do this correctly will be discussed further.

A stopper or latch is needed to ensure that the doors are held tightly (locked) in the closed position. It prevents the formation of a gap with the touching side. The stopper is installed in the groove of the lower guide. One lock is required per door.

So, you need to insert one stopper into each groove, then screw the bottom guide, install the door and adjust the closing tightness of the retainer.

To ensure that the stopper or latch is installed in in the right place, close the doors completely, and then mark the center of the wheel on the guide screwed to the bottom. The stopper is installed with the center along the mark. If necessary, you can move the lock with a flat-head screwdriver.

The lower wheels were designed so that with the help of an adjusting screw located on them, it was possible to adjust the uniformity of the door to the side panel at the top and bottom. To do this you will need a special 4 mm hex key.

If necessary, lower the right corner and adjust the right wheel. To do this, turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise and vice versa.

Buffer tape is adhered for protection internal space cabinet from dust. In addition, it softens the impact of the door on the sides during their closing. If you no longer need access to the adjustment screws, then it's time to apply buffer tape. This is due to the fact that it covers the holes on the vertical end of the door.

There are 2 types of tape:

  1. With short pile - up to 6 mm.
  2. With long pile - up to 12 mm.

Although short-pile tape is more popular, its long-pile counterpart provides more comfortable use of the cabinet. The color of the buffer tape depends on the color of the system attached to the ends of the wardrobe doors. To apply the tape, you need to remove the protective film and glue it to the vertical end of the door.

For example, let's take a sliding wardrobe, which has the following dimensions: width 2000 mm and height 2400 mm.

First of all, let's look at how to measure the width of the doors, and then the height:

  1. Width. So, we know the total width of the cabinet is 2000 mm. Subtract 16 mm from both sides (the thickness of the side walls against which the door will rest). This means that the width that needs to be closed with doors is calculated as follows: 2000 – 16 – 16 = 1968 mm. This cabinet has two doors. Therefore, it is important to take into account the distance that the doors will overlap with each other. Here it is best to take a margin of up to 25 mm for each door. Now we add this amount to the existing width: 1968 + 50 = 2018 mm. This is the total width of the two doors. We divide this amount by 2, the total is 1009 mm, this is the size of one door in width.
  2. Height. Now we determine the height of the doors for the wardrobe. In our case, the cabinet height is 2400 mm. When calculating, you should take into account the lid on top and the lining at the bottom of the cabinet, 16 mm each. The gap between the upper and lower guides of 15 mm is also taken into account. Now it remains to determine the height using the following action: 2400 – 16 – 16 – 15 – 15 = 2338 mm.

So, we determined the dimensions of the two doors, which is 1009 × 2338 mm. After this, you can order the material.

After this, you need to accurately calculate required material or door components. So, you will need 4 handle profiles that will be mounted vertically on each side of the doors. A framing profile for the bottom and top is also required. Take measurements and purchase the required footage.

To build the frame, you need to buy 2 sets of accessories, which include:

  • 4 tension screws for connecting vertical and horizontal profiles.
  • 2 support wheels.
  • 2 bolts for securing wheels.
  • 2 door positioning supports for top guide.

Now we take the vertical handle profile and cut it to the height of our door, which is 2338 mm. As a result, you should get 4 segments with these dimensions.

The handle profile is pasted over protective film, which protects against damage during delivery. Also, do not remove it when cutting.

Next, cut the upper and lower horizontal profile to the appropriate length. In our case, the door width is 1009 mm. However, you should subtract the width of the handle profile, which is 25 mm. On both sides it is 50 mm. Also in the vertical profile of the handle there is a special groove, which is intended for positioning the horizontal framing profile. The groove has a depth of 1 mm. This means that the vertical profile will include a horizontal profile 1 mm from the left and right. Accordingly, we make the following calculations: 1009 – 25 – 25 + 1 +1 = 961 mm. This result is the length of the horizontal profile for the bottom and top; in the end you should get 4 segments of 961 mm each.

Afterwards, you need to mark the drilling locations for the screws for the upper horizontal profile. So, 7.5 mm should be measured from the end of the profile. This measurement should be transferred to the vertical profile. On it, mark the place to remove the hole from the end of the profile and mark the center of the hole. These measurements should also be made on the vertical profile of the handle, but only on the other side of the whip. It is also necessary to make a mark for attaching the support wheel. To do this, take the support wheel block and measure from the end to the middle of the mounting hole. This dimension also carries over to the vertical profile.

Drill at the marked points through holes for self-tapping screw Ø5 mm through 2 strips. So, you should have 3 holes in each vertical profile: 1 for fastening the upper horizontal profile, 2 for the lower and 3 for fastening the support wheel.

At this stage it is necessary to connect the horizontal strip with the left and right vertical strip. We tighten all the parts together with a self-tapping screw. Before final tightening, the top support should be installed in the top profile for positioning.

Next, it is necessary to install the rollers on the door in the lower horizontal profile. To secure the support wheel, insert a bolt that should be tightened 2 mm. In the future, using it, it will be possible to adjust the position of the doors.

Filling installation

Let's say you decide to install a mirror as a door filling. To do this, dress around its perimeter sealing gum. After this, the previously assembled structure should be unscrewed; just unscrew the tightening screws. There is no need to unscrew the lower wheels. Next, insert the mirror with the seal into the top and bottom bar, and then tighten the structure again. Make sure that everything matches exactly, otherwise the mirror may burst. The door is assembled using the same principle if the filler is a USB plate.
