How to properly glue wallpaper over a doorway

Mark the strip of wallpaper near the doorway and cut it in place.

Measure the height of the wall above the doorway and cut a corresponding piece of wallpaper.
Smooth out the wallpaper with a spatula and the joints with a roller.
The part of the canvas above the doorway needs to be cut evenly along the edge of the wall. In the future, this edge will be covered with a door trim.

How to properly glue wallpaper near sockets and switches

Turn off the power supply. Remove decorative panels from sockets and switches.
After gluing a piece of wallpaper over the rosette, mark the center point of the cutout.
From the marked point, make cross cuts with a sharp knife.

What about the horizontal stripes on the wallpaper? Is it possible to glue striped wallpaper with horizontal stripes in rooms with low ceilings? How wide should the strip be? Should it be bright or light like in the previous photos?

In general, of course, any horizontal stripe acts as a visual wall divider and thus lowers the ceiling. For rooms with low ceilings this is an undesirable effect. But in bedrooms it can be neglected.

Striped wallpaper with a wide or very wide horizontal stripe is better suited for rooms with low ceilings than striped wallpaper with a narrow horizontal stripe.

In the photo on the left, you can see that a wide stripe actually lowers the ceiling a little, but striped wallpaper with a narrow stripe glued to the bottom of the wall is even worse - mentally extend it to the ceiling, and you will realize that the height of the wall will visually become even smaller. I will illustrate this rule with two more examples:

The interiors in the photo above illustrate another rule for working with striped wallpaper. The more contrast the stripe, the more it visually reduces the wall.

Well, in general, the walls become very intrusive.

The interior would become much more distinct if bright striped wallpaper were combined with neutral ones.

The same rule applies to very contrasting striped wallpaper.

In general, an excess of contrasting stripes looks hard in the interior. Designers experiment a lot and in a variety of ways with stripes on walls, ceilings, floors and furniture, and there are interesting results that, however, do not become popular.
