How to make a loggia cabinet with your own hands. Options for loggia cabinets and important selection criteria. DIY wardrobe

In apartments with small area- a common occurrence when there is clearly not enough space to store things that are not used Everyday life, to should be within walking distance. Therefore, many apartment owners quite often install cabinets for this purpose, providing them with numerous compartments and shelves. Such a solution is only possible if the balcony is protected from atmospheric precipitation and wind, otherwise such furniture, alas, will not last long.

Buying furniture for a balcony is an almost futile task, since it is very difficult to choose the right model. Ordering a product from a craftsman is a rather expensive “pleasure”. The solution is simple - mobilize your own strengths and skills. And in order to figure out how to make a wardrobe on the balcony with your own hands, you must first consider several options for this piece of furniture, and then study the step-by-step instructions for its manufacture. We hope that after reading this publication, a visitor to our portal will be able to choose the model that is most suitable for a particular balcony in terms of parameters, style, and the creative potential of the home craftsman.

Examples of cabinet models for balconies and loggias

There are many models of cabinets for placement on the balcony, and which one to choose depends on the taste of the apartment owner, the size of the balcony, as well as the desired capacity of this piece of furniture. Next, we will consider model options that make sense to pay attention to.

First option

This cabinet, which has three compartments, is installed in a fairly wide room, but if the balcony or loggia is narrow, then it can be reduced to two compartments. The advantage of such a piece of furniture is its aesthetic appearance and the ability to use the open upper part as a stand for flowerpots or decorative vases, as well as for other objects decorating the interior of this room.

The cabinet doors are made of narrow lining installed across, which visually expands the space. Such door panels can be decorated to look like louvered shutters - they are more difficult to do manually, but they look more impressive and interesting. In the version shown in the illustration, the lining is additionally decorated with paintings in Japanese style, which sets the direction for the design of the entire room. Since the piece of furniture offered to your attention is quite voluminous, it can be used not only as a simple storage for currently unnecessary things or cans of homemade preserves, but also as a full-fledged wardrobe. The last option is possible if, and there is no risk of dampness penetrating it.

The internal design of this cabinet model is arranged according to the preference of the master. For example, in a large compartment you can make a compartment with hangers, and in narrower ones you can install regular shelves.

Second option

Wardrobe made of chipboard and equipped with compartment doors, lined plastic panels, can also only be installed on an insulated balcony. Dampness negatively affects particle boards - they begin to warp under the influence of excess humidity, and the cabinet will not last for a long time.

This model can also be used as a wardrobe, which will free up significant space in the apartment. The convenience of sliding cabinet doors is obvious, as they save space, and such a piece of furniture can even be installed right next to the entrance door to the balcony. Such a cabinet is usually ordered from a furniture company, but if you wish, you can make it yourself by purchasing the necessary material and guides for sliding doors. As you can see, the closet is quite spacious and has a large number of compartments, including for things hung on hangers. This product fits perfectly into the designated area of the balcony and looks very neat and compact.

Install wardrobe doors yourself? Difficult, but quite possible!

If you purchase a special kit from a furniture store and follow the technological recommendations for manufacturing, then everything should work out. Detailed illustrated instructions for calculations and - in a special publication on our portal.

Third option

Natural wood is the most popular material for the manufacture of balcony furniture, since it is easier and more pleasant to work with, and also because it is environmentally friendly and does not emit fumes harmful to humans, unlike panels made using various adhesives and binding resins. In addition, wood treated in the right way, will last much longer than chipboard or plywood.

The cabinet, made of wood impregnated with special moisture-repellent compounds, is not afraid of temperature changes, so it can be installed even on open balcony. Wood is a breathable material, so less moisture will be retained inside a product made from it.

The version offered to your attention is a model of a cabinet with four doors, and it can be called quite complex in design, since you will have to adjust not two panels to each other, but four. However, the advantage of this design is that you can open only one part of the cabinet without “showing off” what is in another section. Although, this point is most often not fundamental, so it is quite possible to choose such a model if you simply liked it for its functionality. If you have no experience in carpentry, then making such a cabinet and perfectly fitting all its elements to each other will be quite difficult.

Fourth option

This cabinet is also a cabinet with an open surface, which can serve as a convenient table or stand for indoor flowers. In addition, a cabinet installed in this way will not cover the windows. The lining of the cabinet doors looks very aesthetically pleasing; it is made like a blind, which makes it possible to ventilate its internal space.

Despite the fact that the cabinet compartments differ in their height, it is quite spacious and can be used to store preparations for the winter, and, of course, other things that do not have a place in the drawers and cabinets inside the apartment. If the balcony is completely covered with wooden paneling, then the cabinet will fit perfectly into the interior of the room.

Fifth option

This balcony cabinet is perfect for narrow room, or for the option when it is necessary to make the window sill very wide, for example, if you plan to grow indoor flowers, and you need to prepare enough space for their installation. The upper part of the cabinet is expanded due to the width of the window sill, and it can be closed with a solid wall.

There is nothing wrong with this - you will notice that the depth of the closed section of the cabinet is not too deep, so items can be placed in this area through the open door. This model is roomy and neat at the same time. Its doors and wall are lined with narrow wooden paneling fixed horizontally, which helps visual expansion premises. IN in this case The area of the narrow room is used quite rationally, so owners of apartments with a loggia or balcony of approximately the same proportion should pay special attention to such a piece of furniture.

Sixth option

Another cabinet model that can be made entirely of plastic panels mounted on a wooden frame mounted from timber. The product is divided into upper and lower parts, which have their own sliding doors.

The design of this model is quite complex for self-made. Therefore, if you like this particular option, then it is better to entrust it to professional craftsmen, who will make it according to the exact dimensions taken from the installation site, and also assemble it into a single structure. However, “it’s not the gods who burn the pots” - you can try it yourself.

Seventh option

Open shelves on the balcony are the simplest option for an improvised closet with several wide and spacious compartments that will fit perfectly in your home. end wall premises. The shelf frame is quite easy to attach to the wall, ceiling and floor, and after vertical elements the structures will be fastened with horizontal jumpers - shelf supports, the entire structure will acquire the necessary rigidity.

The main thing is to set the support bars for the shelves perfectly horizontally, and at the same height relative to each other - this process is controlled by the building level. Otherwise, in case of an error, the shelves will go awry, and the entire structure will look extremely sloppy.

After the frame is ready, a flooring of boards is attached to the horizontal bars using self-tapping screws or nails, which will form the shelves. The whole difficulty of installing the prepared structural elements lies in the fact that all its parts are marked and aligned strictly vertically or horizontally before fixing them.

Find out which one is better with professional advice from our new article on our portal.

Such open cabinet Even an inexperienced master can do it. The option presented in the illustration can rather be called not a cabinet, but a rack, but if desired, on the window side it can be covered with plastic panels or a curtain attached to the upper part of the structure. Usually, for this purpose, the Roman design of curtains or blinds is chosen, which from the street will look like a smooth panel. Over time, you will also want to close the front part of the rack, since all the things stacked on the shelves will create a feeling of disorder. For this purpose, it is easiest and cheapest to choose curtains, but you can also use blinds made of aluminum.

Making a wardrobe for the balcony with your own hands

Drawing up a cabinet drawing

When the desired cabinet option is selected, it is necessary to draw up its drawing. Perhaps one of the designs presented below will be suitable, since these pieces of furniture are intended specifically for installation on a balcony.

This cabinet does not require the installation of doors, but if desired, you can calculate their size and installation. The doors in this case can be hinged or compartment, and both the first and second structures will be attached to the front frame.

This wardrobe drawing is suitable for a wider balcony, and is designed to use its larger compartment for storing clothes placed on hangers. This option can only be installed on a well-insulated, or better yet, heated balcony.

And this is a drawing of a model that is well suited for a narrow balcony or if you plan to install a cabinet or table next to the cabinet. The drawing shows the dimensions of all compartments, as well as the doors that cover the top and bottom of the cabinet separately. Additionally, in each of the cabinet sections, removable shelves can be installed on the corners, which will allow you to place large quantity of things.

Based on the presented drawings, you can draw up own project, complementing it with the desired details, changing the parameters of the cabinet to a certain size of the balcony. it should be noted that even standard width premises may be changed due to application various systems insulation. Therefore, each cabinet option is individual in size, but it is quite possible to take one of the presented designs as a basis for it.

It is absolutely not necessary to carry out the drawing according to all the rules - it is enough to make a drawing that is understandable to the master and put all the dimensions on it, defined by parameters balcony In the same figure, it is necessary to list all the design details indicating their parameters. Having such a visual guide before your eyes, it will not be so difficult to make the necessary blanks, and then assemble them in the right order into the finished product. Of course, for this you must have at least minimal experience working with carpentry tools, as well as with the materials from which the cabinet will be made.

Using a ready-made or hand-drawn drawing, it is quite possible to make a cabinet from wood, chipboard, plywood, or use several of these materials in combination.

When drawing up a drawing, it is necessary to determine not only the dimensional parameters of the balcony, but also what exactly will be stored in the closet, since this factor will influence how many shelves are required and what distance should be provided between them.

If we talk about generally accepted sizes, then standard depth the cabinet is usually 600 mm, and the width should correspond to the width of the balcony. In order for the cabinet to be stable and have good rigidity, it is best if its height is from floor to ceiling, where its frame should be fixed. In addition, such a cabinet will allow you to rationally use all the space allocated for it.

Universal parameters The cabinet dimensions include the following, which can be adjusted to suit a specific room:

— height — 2400÷2500 mm;

— width — 1100÷1250 mm;

— depth — 450÷600 mm;

— the distance between shelves is usually 340÷370 mm.

If you want to get a cabinet on your balcony comparable to what was made by professionals, then it is best to entrust the manufacture of its parts to craftsmen who can carefully process all the edges, cut out the necessary grooves and recesses for the hinges. However, if the owner has a manual electric router at his disposal, then these operations can be carried out on his own.

Materials and tools

You need to know what materials may be needed to build a cabinet. Their specific quantity will depend on the model chosen for production:

  • For a wooden frame you will need a beam with a cross section of 40×40 mm.
  • Instead of timber, in some cases a galvanized metal profile can be used, such as is used when installing plasterboard systems.
  • If selected wooden lining, then its thickness should not exceed 8÷10 mm.
  • When choosing plywood and chipboard for cladding, it is necessary to purchase moisture-resistant panels with a thickness of 10 ÷ 12 mm.
  • You will need metal corners for assembling the frame and furniture corners for assembling wood and chipboard blanks.
  • Fasteners required - screws, nails and dowels.

If you decide to do all the work from start to finish yourself, then the tools you will need to prepare are:

  • Electric jigsaw, manual a circular saw or hacksaws with different tooth sizes.
  • Electric drill with wood drill bits.
  • To bring details to perfection - manually milling machine and a sanding machine.
  • A screwdriver or a set of screwdrivers.
  • Hammer and chisel.
  • Building level and square, plumb line, metal ruler, tape measure, pencil.

In order not to spoil the material prepared for the cabinet, it is necessary to take very accurate measurements, that is, literally follow the proverb - “measure twice, cut once.”

Making a cabinet

It is recommended to manufacture the cabinet on a balcony that has already been insulated and lined with clapboard, therefore, when making lathing for finishing the walls, it is necessary to foresee the location of the cabinet and its design in advance - then the frame of the product will be fixed more securely.

The simplest and in an accessible way building a cabinet is a technique of securing its parts to a common frame. Therefore, this particular option for manufacturing this piece of furniture will be considered step by step:

Illustration
The first step is to mark the location for installing the frame, according to the drawing of the selected cabinet model.
The work is carried out using a ruler with constant monitoring of the building level and plumb.
If the cabinet is planned to be installed at the entire height of the balcony, then first of all the markings are applied to the ceiling and then transferred to the floor.
The lower lines of the frame are determined in accordance with the upper markings using a plumb line. To do this, the plumb line is held at the ceiling marking points, and the weight is lowered to the floor, and thus the place where the lower part of the frame structure will be fixed is precisely marked on the floor.
Such markings are necessary to ensure that the base of the cabinet is level, without distortion.
Next, the upper and lower markings are combined by vertical lines drawn on the walls - it would also be a good idea to check these directions using a building level to completely eliminate errors.
After this, marking and drawing lines are carried out for the horizontal parts of the frame - crossbars. The intermediate elements of the sheathing are fixed at the required height at which the cabinet shelves should be installed.
The future position of horizontal parts is also carefully checked by level.
Both the overall appearance and strength of the cabinet depend on how smoothly and securely the frame is installed and secured, so marking on site is a very important process.
Next, the frame parts are prepared according to the drawing.
Most often, a wooden beam is used for it, but in some cases the master chooses a galvanized metal profile.
Preparation of frame elements from timber is carried out using electric jigsaw, and from metal profiles they are cut using metal scissors.
The next step is to secure the ceiling and floor sections of the frame.
Next, the resulting rectangles are connected by vertical posts, which are aligned to the building level and secured to the walls using self-tapping screws installed in increments of 350÷400 mm.
After this, the intermediate horizontal crossbars of the frame are fixed along the marked lines and points marked on the walls and vertical posts.
Horizontal elements are designed to lay and secure shelves, and they also help to increase structural rigidity.
Horizontal parts are usually fixed with self-tapping screws to vertical posts using metal corners, mounted on the underside of a horizontal beam.
It is not necessary to use more complex connections, for example, tapping, under these conditions.
If for some reason there is no long beam that will fit the entire height of the balcony, then the frame can also be assembled from shorter sections, fixed alternately on top of each other. In this case, vertical and horizontal structural parts are mounted simultaneously.
Such a frame assembly system is acceptable if the prefabricated frame is mounted on the wall. If one of the sides of the frame is free, then it is necessary to use a solid beam for it.
The next step is to attach the shelves to the frame.
They can consist of boards, tightly laid side by side and screwed flush to the beam with self-tapping screws, or of plywood 10÷12 mm thick.
The edges of the boards or plywood should be well processed with a router.
Next, doors for the cabinet are made.
Their size is calculated after measuring the cabinet doorway, taking into account the installation of hinges.
If you plan to install two doors that will fit together when closing the cabinet, their size is determined at the same time, and they are adjusted to each other by fitting.
Sometimes the door leaf is made like a blind, - similar option It looks quite aesthetically pleasing and original. How door trim is done using this technique will be described below.
Doors can be assembled from boards fixed to the frame vertically or horizontally, or inserted into it using the tongue-and-groove principle.
To do this, a groove is selected in the guide boards with a milling cutter, and tenons are cut out on the boards.
For such cladding, lining with a width of 50÷60 mm is most often taken.
The door frame for a cabinet on the balcony can also be covered with plastic lining.
It will look especially good in a room completely decorated with the same material.
A plastic door is lightweight and does not require a frame made of massive and heavy timber. A board 12÷15 mm thick will be enough.
The connection of the door frame elements at the corners is made in half a tree or in half a tree in the “dark”, that is, a blind groove is cut out for the tenon, not reaching the edge of the board. In this joining option, the tenon rests perpendicularly against the undamaged edge installed board frames
When making a frame structure, be sure to install a middle section, which will make it more rigid and reliable.
Often, a different design is chosen for the cabinet door on the balcony - thin tongue-and-groove boards or even lining of the required size are assembled with glue and tightened with clamps until it dries completely.
Then such a shield is reinforced with jumpers.
To do this with inside glued lining, two boards are fixed across the structure, which will more reliably fasten the boards of the assembled panel together. At the same time, they retreat from the upper and lower edges of the door by 150÷170 mm.
With this approach, the installation of horizontal parts must be calculated so that they do not rest against the already installed cabinet shelves.
The doors can be secured in the doorway of the building with ordinary “butterfly” hinges, which will need to be deepened into the wood to the thickness of the plate.
This must be done so that there is no formation between the opening board and the door. big gap, but at the same time, they did not interfere with each other when closing and opening the door.
Another option is furniture hinges, for which you will need to select a round groove into which the so-called cup of this element is installed.
This socket is selected with a router or a core drill installed in a screwdriver or drill.
It should be noted that such furniture hinge options are most often used for cabinets made of chipboard.
Any fastening loops are secured to the cabinet parts using self-tapping screws, screwed into holes of a smaller diameter pre-designated for them.
The last step is to mark and drill holes to secure the handles, which are installed on screws screwed into the back of the door.
If the walls and shelves of the cabinet are made of chipboard panels, then they can be fixed to the frame or connected to each other using furniture corners.
They are fixed with screws screwed into special metal inserts With internal thread, for which holes of the required diameter are drilled in the cabinet panels.
Another, simpler option is to use special plastic or metal furniture corners, which are fixed with ordinary self-tapping screws.
Most often, cabinets made of chipboard are ordered from a furniture company, according to the dimensions taken from the area where the cabinet is installed on the balcony. In this case, the manufacturer usually takes on the work of assembling the piece of furniture.
However, such a cabinet will cost much more than one made independently.

Making cabinet doors using blinds

Louvre grilles, which are often used to decorate the doors of cabinets on the balcony, look aesthetically pleasing and original. In addition, they make it possible to constantly ventilate the interior space, which helps keep the things placed in the closet, as well as the piece of furniture itself, in a normal state. It should be noted that using the same principle it is quite possible to make not only cabinet doors, but also shutters for balcony windows, which will perfectly protect the premises from the hot sun, as well as create a comfortable atmosphere for relaxation.

The photo table shown gives a general idea of step-by-step implementation work on a door made like a blind. Below are more detailed recommendations for performing assembly operations.

IllustrationBrief description of the operation performed
This photo clearly shows the design of the frame with a louvered grille installed inside it.
In this case, the frame is assembled using dowels mounted with glue, but here you need to take into account that the frame is assembled simultaneously with the installation of the elements (slats) of the blinds into it.
Lamels for the grating are made by cutting timber into slats 5÷6 mm thick. Their length is calculated by the width of the frame, taking into account the depth of the grooves into which they will be inserted on both sides.
The grooves usually have a depth of 6÷7 mm, and the lamellas are fixed in them with wood glue.
To calculate the number of lattice elements that will be needed to decorate the door of a balcony cabinet, you need to attach one of them with its end side to the frame at the desired angle of inclination, and then measure the distance that the lamella occupies from the total length of the opening.
Next, the length of the internal opening of the frame must be divided by the resulting distance.
The result should be the number of required lamellas that need to be prepared in order to cover inner space frames with the selected frequency.
When calculating the number of lamellas, a non-integer number is rounded up or down to a whole number.
Once found required quantity lamellas, the long sides of the frame are divided into it and marked with a pencil.
Based on the resulting markings, it is necessary to mill the grooves. To ensure that they are even on both sides of the frame, when milling, a special jig device is used, consisting of two bars, between which the side blank for the door frame is installed and clamped.
A special frame is fixed to the fixing bars, which will limit the movement of the manual router - it is fixed at the angle chosen for installing the lamella. The guides are installed at a distance in width from each other, corresponding to the width of the base (platform) of the router, and their length limits the size of the groove cut for installing the lamellas.
As you can see in the photo, cuts are made on the fixing bars, allowing you to move the workpiece to the required distance, and then secure it while the groove is milled.
In order not to spoil the main part of the frame, it is necessary to carry out test milling on a section of any timber and thus make sure that the device is installed correctly.
When the grooves for installing the lamellas have been completely selected, all frame elements must be processed with a grinding machine by installing sandpaper with grit number 400, and then 600÷800.
If you don’t have a sander, you can do this work manually by attaching sandpaper to a piece of wood.
The next step is to assemble all the parts into a single structure using wood glue.
After the entire door is assembled, it is tightened with clamps until the glue dries completely.
The final stage of work is painting the door in the chosen color.
It is best to carry out this process using a spray gun - this way the paint will lie evenly over the entire surface of the product.
If the texture of the wood is beautiful, then many craftsmen prefer to cover it with paint and use transparent furniture varnishes.

As you can see from the above, making a cabinet for a balcony is not the easiest task. However, if you want to save money and try your hand at carpentry, then you need to carry out all the work slowly, carefully marking, adjusting each part to the established dimensions, general installation in accordance with technological recommendations.

At the end of the publication, there is a short video showing the manufacture of a simple cabinet on a balcony using furniture chipboard panels.

Video: Wardrobe for a balcony covered with natural clapboard

Residents of small apartments often face storage problems due to cramped spaces. At the same time, the balcony is usually empty or turned into a place where unnecessary belongings are simply dumped. How to avoid clutter? The best way to do this is to build your own cabinet using readily available lumber. This is quite difficult to do, but anyone can do it. We present ideas, drawings, diagrams, sketches and manufacturing technology for balcony cabinets.

  1. Cabinet cabinet, which is independent design and is not attached to the walls of the balcony in any way. Such a cabinet takes up quite a lot of space, but can be moved or removed at any time.
  2. A built-in wardrobe, which, as a rule, is created according to an individual project, therefore fits perfectly into all the “inconvenient” places of the loggia or balcony. But in such a cabinet, the walls of the house are used as load-bearing structural elements, to which the side racks and shelves are attached, so it is impossible to move or remove it without completely dismantling it.

The following types of doors are used in cabinets:

  • compartment doors;
  • accordion door;
  • roller shutters;
  • swing doors

Final choice suitable option depends on specific conditions. For example, you can install a built-in wardrobe in a loggia. In this case, the walls will simultaneously serve as its back wall. But on the open balcony it is better to place a regular cabinet.

Particular attention should be paid to the choice of doors. If there is little space on the balcony, it is more practical to install roller shutters, sliding doors or an accordion. Hinged doors will be more convenient in a large loggia, where there is no need to save space and you can access all shelves simultaneously by opening the cabinet. Doors can be installed to the full height of the cabinet, but sometimes it is more convenient to divide the structure into 2-3 functional areas, each of which will have its own doors.

Swing doors- the simplest and cheapest. To assemble them you only need door panels and hinges, and self installation it won't be difficult to get into the opening. Sliding systems are more expensive and time-consuming to install. Except door leaves, they will require guides and rollers. But when opened, such doors do not go beyond the dimensions of the cabinet, which can be attributed to the advantages of such a system.

The most expensive door option is roller shutters. They are a made-to-order kit and are assembled by the manufacturer.

Hinged doors are the simplest and relatively cheapest option, but they are not always convenient Convenient and economical option - sliding doors The folding accordion door will not take up much space when opened. Roller shutters as doors to a balcony closet - a convenient but expensive option

The most suitable and cheapest materials for building and arranging cabinets

Before you start making a cabinet, you need to decide on the material from which it will be made. The most popular and accessible materials are:

  • plastic;
  • Chipboard - chipboard;
  • tree;
  • drywall.

When choosing a material, they usually take into account the overall design concept of the balcony, as well as their own financial capabilities. Plastic is very convenient here - it is practical, goes well with the interior of the balcony and is easy to use.

In general, the cabinet design consists of a frame, doors and the so-called filling - shelves, drawers, hangers. If there is a side stand, then it will also need casing. Often all these components are made from different materials.

How and from what lumber to build a frame for a cabinet

Most often, frame racks for a cabinet are assembled from wooden beam section 40x40 or 50x50 mm. It is necessary to take into account that wood changes size under the influence of humidity - the timber swells, deforms, joints move, so such a cabinet would not be the best option for unheated balconies.

Here a frame made of galvanized profiles, which is not subject to deformation under high humidity, can help out. Plywood, drywall, chipboard and other materials are easily attached to it.

Shelves can be made of thick plywood, chipboard, or OSB. If it is expected that the closet will contain heavy things that provide a load of more than 5 kg (for example, cans of preserves, heavy tools, dishes, books), then it is better to use a wooden board.

A long closet placed under the window along the balcony will accommodate even more things. Tall two-level wardrobe with hinged doors and an attached cabinet Small cabinet under the window, covered with plastic A low cabinet under a window or a cabinet for a balcony will also serve as a table Complete solution: tall cabinet with doors and open shelves along the loggia Built-in corner wardrobe

Ideas, diagrams, drawings and step-by-step instructions for assembling balcony cabinets

Once you have decided which type of cabinet will be most convenient for you, you need to begin creating the most accurate drawing possible. Below we present to your attention several developments designed specifically for installation on a loggia or balcony:

  1. The simplest option a rack consisting only of shelves. This model does not require the installation of doors, but you can calculate their dimensions and mount them yourself, securing them to the front frame.
  2. The second option is intended for installation in a wide loggia. In such a closet you can store clothes on hangers. True, it is advisable to place it on an insulated, or better yet, heated balcony.
  3. The third option will fit perfectly into a narrow balcony, and will also be an excellent addition to a table or cabinet. If you wish, you can install additional removable shelves on the corners yourself.

After reviewing the presented drawings, you can easily create your own project by changing or adding some parameters in accordance with the size of your balcony.

List of tools needed for carpentry work on arranging wooden cabinets.

  • screws, dowels, nails;
  • hammer;
  • chisel;
  • jigsaw or hand saw;
  • electric drill with attachments for woodworking;
  • screwdriver (set of screwdrivers);
  • ruler, pencil, tape measure, plumb line, square and building level.

Here are a few more simple tips before building a cabinet on the balcony:

  1. On a pre-glazed balcony, the wooden finish will not suffer from dampness and will retain its attractiveness and good quality longer.
  2. It is advisable to first repair the floor on the balcony, or at least the area on which the cabinet will be installed.
  3. It is advisable to eliminate all cracks and crevices, insulate the walls and floor of the balcony, which will provide protection from temperature changes and drafts and significantly extend the life of the cabinet. For insulation, you can use polystyrene foam, PVC, or mineral wool.

After the measurements have been taken, the type of cabinet has been selected, the drawing has been drawn up, and you can begin to work directly.

Stages of self-assembly and arrangement of the cabinet

Even a beginner can easily handle this cabinet. To make it you will need the following materials:

The amount of pine timber must be calculated taking into account the selected dimensions of the future cabinet. For simplicity, let’s take the standard dimensions that are most suitable for the balcony space: height - 1.8 m, width - 1.5 m, depth - 0.5 m. Accordingly, the timber will be required:

  • for the bottom frame 2x0.5 + 2x1.5 = 4 m;
  • for the upper frame 2x0.5 + 2x1.5 = 4 m;
  • for vertical posts 4x1.8 = 7.2 m.

You can use a sheet of laminated fiberboard as the back wall of the cabinet. This dense and waterproof material will additionally protect the structure from moisture; it is attached to the rear frame using a construction stapler or self-tapping screws.

  1. First, assemble the back and front frames of the cabinet. To do this, fasten the vertical and horizontal bars together using metal corners.
  2. Instead of corners, the beams can simply be connected with wood screws 60–75 cm long, as can be seen in the photo below.
  3. Then use self-tapping screws or staples to attach the back wall of the cabinet to the rear frame frame. After this, fix the resulting structure in the loggia opening using anchors. At this stage, you can lay a sheet of thick plywood or chipboard on the floor under the future cabinet, which will serve as the bottom.
  4. Once the frame is installed, secure it to cross beams and secure them with anchors.
  5. Attach the front frame to the ends of the beams. After this, fix it with anchors in the walls, floor and ceiling - this will give the structure rigidity.
  6. All that remains is to screw the guides with self-tapping screws, which will become holders for the shelves. The length of the horizontal part of the guide should be equal to the depth of the cabinet. Place the cut-to-size shelves on the guides, securing them with self-tapping screws if necessary.

In fact, a simple cabinet is already ready. You can conveniently place almost everything that is usually stored on the balcony in it: jars, boxes with clothes and small items, tools. It can also be used as a bookcase or for storing old magazines. But if there is a need to completely hide the contents of the cabinet, this design can be equipped with doors and covered with clapboard or plasterboard.

Selection of materials for cladding and doors

If you decide to cover the cabinet with clapboard, take material made from hardwood. There is often a lot of sun on balconies and loggias; its rays heat the surface. From this the lining is made from coniferous species begins to release resin.

The next thing to consider is the quality of the material. The cost of the lining also depends on its grade: A, B or C. Grade A material is smooth, uniform in color, it is ideal for cladding and for making furniture. Grade B has inclusions of a different color, slight roughness and unevenness, but is good in terms of price-quality ratio. But grade C lining is not suitable for cladding: uneven surface, cracks, chips and rough colors will not add aesthetics to the finished product.

Note! Since the cabinet door should be light, it is better to choose a thin lining for it.

Installing doors on a built cabinet

Using drywall

Instead of lining, you can use an even simpler and cheaper option - drywall. It looks great on the finished structure and is easy to install on a ready-made frame.

  1. To begin, cover the frame with sheets of plasterboard cut to fit the cabinet. Drywall is attached to the frame with self-tapping screws.
  2. Once the framing of the frame is completed, you can begin finishing. Cover the drywall joints with reinforcing tape, putty and sand. Prime the surface and after drying, coat it with water-based paint. As an option, it is also possible to cover the drywall with wallpaper to match the interior of the balcony.
  3. Now all that remains is to assemble the doors. In this version of the cabinet it is preferable to install sliding doors. Due to the abundance of spare parts, it seems that it is difficult, but the diagram will easily help you understand the task.

How to arrange a corner closet from clapboard

Advantages of lining as finishing material have long been appreciated by home craftsmen. In particular, loggias are often sheathed with it. We suggest you not limit yourself to this, but use the same lining to construct a comfortable and beautiful corner cabinet. This design will be both roomy and compact, and it will not block the windows.

  • There is no need to attach the racks. It is enough to nail the bars on the ceiling and floor, and fix the walls on them.
  • You shouldn’t make them too wide; 3 planks for each is enough.
  • Nail the planks to the lining on the walls, and lay shelves on them from the same lining, cut to the shape of the cabinet.

Very often, balconies or loggias in apartments are not just useful space - you can arrange a real storage room on them. It is there that many housewives store their supplies of pickles and jams for the winter and “store” unnecessary things. And the best budget solution is to make a cabinet on the balcony with your own hands. In this case, the design can be made both cheaply and beautifully, taking into account the individual wishes of the owners.

Why a closet? Because ordinary racks with shelves, although they require less expense for their manufacture, still do not look very aesthetically pleasing. But a full-fledged structure with closed doors is the best option for a balcony. Especially if you build the cabinet yourself.

Cabinet Types

There are only two of them: a free-standing one and a built-in wardrobe for the balcony. A free-standing cabinet is assembled into a single whole, has hinged doors and does not occupy all the usable space on the balcony or loggia. But built-in wardrobes (or sliding wardrobes) are more likely an option for installation according to an individual project. Built-in wardrobes can be placed on a balcony of any size, size and layout.

Before you start making and installing a cabinet on the balcony, you should consider several important points:

. Here you will have to think about what exactly you are going to store in your closet and select boards for the shelves of the required thickness.
  • Material. A cabinet can be made from anything, but the best materials are still wood and plasterboard. What are their advantages and disadvantages?
  • The wooden cabinet fits perfectly into the interior of the balcony and loggia.

    Wooden cabinets have a more aesthetic appearance and higher strength characteristics, which plays an important role when securing boards to the walls of the balcony. However, their disadvantages include more complex assembly of parts (this is true for a free-standing cabinet) and their fastening. In addition, wood weighs more than drywall, therefore the load will be greater.

    From advantages of drywall we can note the ease of processing the material, the speed of installation and assembly, a light weight, resistance to deformation when mounted on metal frames. But the disadvantages include low impact resistance, less ability to withstand loads than wood.

    • Design. Yes, yes, the type of furniture should be in harmony with general view interior of the balcony, so you will have to take this aspect into account. Today you can assemble cabinets various designs, everything will depend on the size of the balcony you have. Thus, narrow balconies require built-in wardrobes, mainly at the end of the room, “decorated” with a pair of sliding doors - such designs significantly save space, leaving more free space.

    If the ceiling height allows, you can arrange a closet with four doors with mezzanines. On wide loggias, free-standing cabinets with rounded side shelves will look beautiful - you can place all sorts of cute trinkets, framed photographs, and potted indoor plants on them. Extra charm general interior will give the structure a matching finish balcony frames, door or flooring.

    In any case, the choice of material, production and installation of the cabinet on the balcony remains with the owner.

    How and with what to properly lubricate plastic window fittings

    Stage 3: covering the frame with plasterboard sheets

    Perhaps this is the simplest of all assembly stages - the gypsum boards are simply attached to the frame using self-tapping screws (a kind of cladding), and a screed is installed in the places where the sheets touch (so that the boards do not “move apart” after the first loading of things onto the shelves). When the entire frame is completely sheathed, you can proceed to the next stage - finishing.

    Stage 4: finishing

    We glue and then putty the joints of the plasterboard sheets

    This includes the processing of joints and the final finishing of the cabinet. Despite the fact that drywall is considered an ideal material when constructing cabinets, it also needs to be processed. If you plan to paint your cabinet, this can be done using water-based paint. However, before painting, the surface must be primed, joints and gaps must be puttied, and sealed with reinforcing tape.

    The putty should be applied in two layers, allowing the previous one to dry thoroughly, cleaning the surface and sanding it. Finishing layer(painting) should be applied when the putty is completely dry.

    Important: Marking and installation of shelf fastenings should be done before puttying and painting.

    In some cases, cabinets are simply covered with wallpaper - “to match” the overall interior of the balcony. Wallpapering surfaces is the most a budget option. Before applying glue to the surface of the plasterboard, it is necessary to clarify what type of glue will be needed for gluing. Some types of wallpaper can only be planted on special types adhesives

    After finishing the finishing work, you can install shelves, also painted/pasted to match the cabinet and doors.

    Stage 5, final: installing doors

    The most optimal - installation of sliding doors. If you have already installed a frame with hangers on which the guides are attached, installing a sliding door is as easy as shelling pears. To do this, you can also use a gypsum board sheet with counter rollers attached to it for sliding doors (hardware kits for sliding doors can be purchased at any construction department or department for the manufacture and sale of doors).

    This is how you can make a wardrobe on your balcony yourself - quickly and not very expensive!

    Many people organize a storage room in the loggia space. To avoid confusion, it is better to think through convenient system storage In this article we will tell you how to make a spacious wardrobe on the balcony with your own hands.

    Measurements

    To correctly determine the parameters you will need a pencil, tape measure and a sheet of paper. We arm ourselves with everything necessary and fix the following parameters:

    • WxDxH (width, depth and height for the future structure);
    • We take into account the dimensions of the things we plan to store;
    • If necessary, we make allowances for thermal insulation and finishing of the loggia.
    • We record data and develop furniture design.

    We determine the location for the future structure on the balcony.

    Design options

    • Use factory parts for self-assembly;
    • Design furniture according to custom sizes from lumber;
    • Furniture made of plasterboard.

    IN furniture stores You can purchase special blanks and accessories to create a cabinet with your own hands.

    Assembling a cabinet from lumber

    Pros:

    • Withstands significant load;
    • Aesthetic appearance of a wooden structure.

    Minuses:

    • The material is susceptible to deformation if not sufficiently dried;
    • Difficult to install.

    We will need:

    • Fasteners;
    • Boards (30 mm or more thickness);
    • Bars (40x40 mm section);
    • Accessories (hinges, handles, magnets);
    • Hammer;
    • Electric drill;
    • Plane;
    • Clamps;
    • Hacksaw;
    • Building level;
    • Pencil;
    • Plumb;
    • Roulette;
    • Screwdrivers.

    Subsequence

    1. On the eve of work, we make blanks according to size.
    2. We build the frame - we mount the support beams, adjusting the position using a building level.

    3. We fix the bars of the required length for future shelves (crossbars);

    4. We make a stable support from a transverse rail and secure it to the floor with fasteners. Next, we mount the upper element using a similar principle. We will later attach guides for the facades to the transverse slats.

    This stage from a different angle.

    5. Cut and install shelves.

    6. We cut out the doors and cover the cuts with a special edge.

    7. We mount the doors on rollers, achieving convenient opening, and screw on the door rail handles.

    The wheel that moves the door.

    8. Paint the bars at the end with white paint.

    Plasterboard cabinet

    Pros:

    • Simple assembly and installation;
    • Processing and coloring of the material is available not only to specialists;
    • A gypsum plasterboard structure does not deform if there is a reliable frame at the base

    Minuses:

    • The material is not as durable as wood;
    • GCR construction is less stable.

    Assembly steps

    1. Drawing

    Three-dimensional sketch is made according to preliminary measurements in three projections, comparing with the real room and making adjustments. On the final drawing, indicate all the dimensions that are needed - the thickness of the plasterboard, the distances between shelves and partitions, the depth of the cabinet, etc.

    2. Marking

    Must be removed the day before old finishing. At this stage, we must constantly refer to the drawing, apply markings to the surface of the floor, ceiling and walls to create a future structure.

    3. Frame

    To assemble the frame we use metal or wooden elements. Installation is carried out using self-tapping screws or dowels. We install the hangers, and then attach the profiles to them in a vertical position. During assembly, we constantly check ourselves against the drawing. Additionally, we secure the transverse elements using slats.

    The process of assembling a furniture frame.

    4. GKL sheathing

    Installation of sheets on a metal frame.

    For plasterboard sheathing you need to purchase the following tools:

    1. Jigsaw (or grinder);

    2. Screwdriver (or electric drill).

    We cover the prepared profile with sheets of plasterboard, strengthen the corners of the cabinet with reinforcement.

    5. Finishing

    Sealing joints between adjacent sheets.

    To fill joints, it is better to use special plaster (gypsum based). The next layer is putty. After complete drying, the surface should be cleaned, after which we fix the joints with reinforcing tape (it can be used at the very beginning), then putty on the second layer. After drying, the surface must be sanded. We choose film, wallpaper or paint as the finishing layer.

    How to make a cheap built-in wardrobe from wood and other materials on a balcony or loggia with your own hands

    What types of cabinets can be used for balconies and loggias?

    Cabinets can be of two types:

    1. A cabinet cabinet, which is an independent structure and is not attached to the walls of the balcony in any way.

    • compartment doors;
    • accordion door;
    • roller shutters;
    • swing doors

    The final choice of the appropriate option depends on specific conditions. For example, you can install a built-in wardrobe in a loggia. In this case, the walls will simultaneously serve as its back wall. But on the open balcony it is better to place a regular cabinet.

    A properly placed closet will organize the space on the balcony or loggia.

Doors can be installed to the full height of the cabinet, but sometimes it is more convenient to divide the structure into 2-3 functional zones, each of which will have its own doors.

    Swing doors are the simplest and cheapest. To assemble them, you only need door panels and hinges, and installing them in the opening yourself will not be difficult. Sliding systems are more expensive and time-consuming to install. In addition to door panels, they will require guides and rollers. But when opened, such doors do not go beyond the dimensions of the cabinet, which can be attributed to the advantages of such a system.

    The most expensive door option is roller shutters. They are a made-to-order kit and are assembled by the manufacturer.

    The most suitable and cheapest materials for building and arranging cabinets

    Before you start making a cabinet, you need to decide on the material from which it will be made. The most popular and accessible materials are:

    • plastic;
    • Chipboard - chipboard;
    • tree;

    Most often, frame racks for a cabinet are assembled from wooden beams with a section of 40x40 or 50x50 mm.

      The simplest version of a rack consisting only of shelves. This model does not require the installation of doors, but you can calculate their dimensions and mount them yourself, securing them to the front frame.

    After reviewing the presented drawings, you can easily create your own project by changing or adding some parameters in accordance with the size of your balcony.

    List of tools needed for carpentry work on arranging wooden cabinets.

    • screws, dowels, nails;
    • hammer;
    • chisel;
    • jigsaw or hand saw;
    • electric drill with attachments for woodworking;
    • screwdriver (set of screwdrivers);
    • ruler, pencil, tape measure, plumb line, square and building level.

    You will need a drill, screwdriver, screwdrivers, hammer, chisel and other tools

    Here are some more simple tips before building a cabinet on the balcony:

    • pine timber 40 X 40 mm for the frame;
    • metal corners for connecting elements;
    • boards or chipboard sheets for shelves.

    Pine timber is the best option for making a cabinet frame

    The amount of pine timber must be calculated taking into account the selected dimensions of the future cabinet. For simplicity, let’s take the standard dimensions that are most suitable for the balcony space: height - 1.8 m, width - 1.5 m, depth - 0.5 m. Accordingly, the timber will be required:

    • for the bottom frame 2x0.5 + 2x1.5 = 4 m;
    • for the upper frame 2x0.5 + 2x1.5 = 4 m;

      First, assemble the back and front frames of the cabinet. To do this, fasten the vertical and horizontal bars together using metal corners.

    How to choose and make a good wardrobe for your balcony?

    According to established tradition, for most people, a room such as a balcony is like a miniature warehouse, in which it is convenient to store items that are rarely used in everyday life. To make a balcony or loggia attractive and at the same time serve as a storage room, they are equipped with a compact built-in wardrobe, combining a decorative element with spacious storage. Let’s look at the nuances of design, materials for manufacturing, as well as how to make a cabinet for a balcony with your own hands in more detail.

    Features of cabinet operation

    For people who have a glazed balcony, this utility room gradually ceases to be empty. Its usage (typically) looks like this:

    • it is filled with completely unnecessary items in everyday life;
    • is a natural extension of the room;
    • This is a separate space for everyday work or just a comfortable relaxation area.

    One way or another, there are a huge variety of ways to decorate balconies and decorate with interior items, and each of them corresponds to the tastes of the owner. But one of the final conditions quality arrangement balcony after completion of such work as glazing, insulation and finishing, there will be a competent location and installation of a multifunctional built-in wardrobe.
    Unfortunately, the balcony room is simply not taken seriously, cluttering it with household junk, using old furniture that is unnecessary in the living room instead of a built-in wardrobe for a loggia or balcony. Such furniture, like the balcony itself, will not be able to fully perform its functions, constantly losing comfort. And furniture that does not meet the parameters of a utility room is not capable of accommodating many items.

    One of the best options for arranging a balcony is considered individual order for the manufacture of furniture, taking into account the wishes of the owner, accurate measurements and design of the room.

    Usage modern technologies in the manufacture of furniture, as well as a wide selection of materials, make it possible to create comfortable, beautiful and compact furniture, taking into account the optimal number of shelves, niches, drawers for effective use premises resources.

    Individual balcony parameters

    The room of a balcony or loggia does not have any specific standard size, since the architecture of each building differs in its type or year of construction. For example, the construction of high-rise buildings of the same type, but carried out in different years can differ dramatically both in the internal arrangement of the rooms and in the size of the balcony room. For these reasons, measurements for a balcony cabinet (custom-made or hand-made) must be carried out individually for each room. The measurements should take into account the area allocated for the cabinet and interior design balcony

    Cabinet door options

    When deciding how to make a wardrobe on the balcony, the design of the doors also needs to be taken into account. If your utility room is not large, then a hinged door to the cabinet may not be suitable.

    The main types of doors for a wardrobe on a balcony:

    A regular hinged door implies free space around the door, allowing you to use it without hesitation. Distinctive feature This type of door provides full access to the contents, which leaves the opportunity to place inconvenient or bulky items behind them. Hinged doors are considered a classic, are reliable and highlight the beautiful interior design.

    • The contents of the cabinet are hidden behind a stylish, modern design.
    • Such doors protect well from dust penetration.

    The only negative, especially for storing large items, is that the balcony wardrobe can only be opened from one side or the other.

    Roller shutters (photo as an example of roller doors just below) are considered one of the most practical options for a balcony cabinet.

    They allow you to freely place other interior items on the balcony, completely hide the contents behind them, and are different for a long time operation.

    Materials used

    Before buying material for making a wardrobe - a compartment for a loggia (balcony), you should consider several important points:

    • Harmony of the material with the interior of the utility room.
    • Maximum resistance to high humidity and temperature changes.

    One of the popular, quite inexpensive materials For loggias, balconies and balcony closets, ordinary plastic is considered. Plastic has high moisture resistance, a large selection color range, good timing services. The material is easy to maintain, but has serious sensitivity to mechanical damage, including color deformation under the influence of direct sunlight.

    • Maximum insulation of the balcony room from moisture accumulation.
    • Treatment of wooden surfaces with special protective equipment to increase resistance to external factors.

    The finished wooden cabinet on the balcony can be seen in the photo below.

    Assembling the structure

    The closet is not only a convenient container, but also unique element decor, so to make it it is advisable to have at least basic skills and creativity. Also important proper preparation tools, the selection of which directly depends on the material you choose.

    • The initial stage comes down to taking the necessary measurements and transferring them to paper (it is advisable to make a preliminary drawing of the balcony cabinet).
    • The sketch of the future product is carried out carefully and competently, since its functionality, dimensions of the balcony or loggia with the cabinet must be clearly calculated and fully consistent with each other.

    Based on the preliminary sketch, we determine required amount materials, as well as the accessories needed for the product, after which we accurately calculate financial costs, purchase materials, and prepare tools.

    It is better to take the material already sawn, since it is quite difficult to make a high-quality cut beautifully without certain skills or appropriate tools.

    Installation of the cabinet on the balcony, the photo of which can be seen just below, is carried out as follows:

    • We start the balcony closet with the frame.
    • Having connected several elements, we proceed to the sheathing.
    • As soon as the body of the product is ready, we switch to the limiters for the future location of the shelves.
    • After the limiters, and then the shelves, are installed, we complete the assembly by installing the doors.

    To insulate the cabinet, any roll of thermal insulation material can be fixed between the built-in product and the wall of the balcony.

    Proper use of a balcony room makes it not only cozy, but also provides comfort in living rooms, freeing cabinets and storage rooms from things rarely used in everyday life. The design and selection of ergonomic cabinet design also play an important role in the aesthetics of the interior of your balcony.

    How to make a wardrobe on a balcony from clapboard: process features and step-by-step instructions

    Not everyone has the opportunity to purchase a large apartment in order to easily fit all household items. However, this is no longer a problem, because even small space can be used as efficiently as possible. This is how they are created additional shelves in the hallway, niches under window openings and mezzanines of different sizes. From the balcony to small apartment You can also “squeeze out” certain benefits. It can replace a workshop, a place to relax, a garden and even a small warehouse for storing things. Proper planning of the balcony space will help combine all these functions.

    Not everyone has the opportunity to purchase a large apartment in order to easily fit all household items.

    The plan of such a room must necessarily include a built-in closet made of clapboard, which will allow you to conveniently arrange all the necessary things. Making a cabinet out of clapboard with your own hands is not at all difficult if you follow the step-by-step instructions.

    This creates additional shelves in the hallway, niches under window openings and mezzanines of different sizes.

    You need to use pine beams.

    What are the advantages of creating a cabinet from clapboard with your own hands?

    You can also get some benefits from a balcony in a small apartment.

    All walls and the bottom of the structure must be attached to the walls of the room with anchors.

    Creating such furniture yourself is a simple but labor-intensive process. However, by taking a little time, you can build a spacious, functional and original cabinet from lining for household items. It cannot be compared with the monotonous furniture that is presented in stores and hypermarkets.

    Proper planning of the balcony space will help combine all these functions.

    Preparing for work on the balcony: deciding on the type of structure and design

    Before you begin the actual production and installation of lining furniture, you need to prepare. To do this, several key points need to be addressed.

    1. Decide on the type of structure. To make it easier, you need to create a plan for the future cabinet on a regular piece of paper. In the plan, indicate the dimensions of the structure, the number and type of shelves, the presence or absence of doors. To facilitate this process, you can look at the photos for examples of such furniture.
    2. Select material. Without proper experience, working with expensive wood or glass is not worth it. It is better to make it from cheap lining. However, there is one condition - such a cabinet can only be used in a glassed room. The material does not tolerate temperature changes. In addition, the lining is fragile, so you need to work with it carefully.
    3. Decide on a design. Lining is a universal material in terms of decoration (paste it with wallpaper, paint it or leave it as is).

    Making a cabinet out of clapboard with your own hands is not at all difficult if you follow the step-by-step instructions.

    Lining is a universal material in terms of decoration (paste it with wallpaper, paint it or leave it as is).

    What materials and tools will be needed?

    To make a cabinet from clapboard yourself, you need to stock up on materials and tools.

    • Pine beams. For the construction of the frame, beams of 40x40 millimeters are suitable, and for doors you need to select beams of a smaller thickness.
    • Metal corner. It will be needed to fix the wooden parts.
    • Chipboard sheets. The thickness of the sheets directly depends on the future load on the shelf.
    • Furniture fittings. Little attention is paid to it, which is in vain, because the service life and appearance of the structure depend on the quality of the fittings. Hinges, latches, locks and handles for the cabinet must be made of metal that is resistant to corrosion.
    • Nails. They will need to be used to connect wood elements.
    • Several strips of lining (its number and thickness will depend on the choice of shape and design of the structure).
    • Construction tape, pencil, level, screwdriver, hammer, hacksaw and hammer drill.

    Creating such furniture yourself is a simple but labor-intensive process.

    Decide on a design.

    Step-by-step instruction

    Step 1 – creating the frame.

    You need to use pine beams. First you need to make the rear frame. Horizontal bars are attached to vertical bars in increments of 60 centimeters. You can use regular nails to join wood. The frame must be attached to the balcony wall with anchors. After this, you can attach the strips to the rear frame (the length is equal to the future depth of the cabinet). They are fixed at right angles with metal corners. Then the lower frame (bottom frame) is created in the same way. All walls and the bottom of the structure must be attached to the walls of the room with anchors.

    It cannot be compared with the monotonous furniture that is presented in stores and hypermarkets.

    In addition, the lining is fragile, so you need to work with it carefully.

    Step 2 – covering the inner wall of the frame.

    For the back of the cabinet frame, it is better to use a sheet of chipboard. He will be a reliable wall. It is attached to the back wall using ordinary self-tapping screws. If there are any at home construction stapler, then you can apply it too.

    However, by taking a little time, you can build a spacious, functional and original cabinet from lining for household items.

    The material does not tolerate temperature changes.

    Step 3 – installation of shelves on the frame.

    You just need to cut out suitable size chipboard sheets and install them on horizontal wooden guides.

    Before you begin the actual production and installation of lining furniture, you need to prepare.

    However, there is one condition - such a cabinet can only be used in a glassed room.

    Step 4 – making the door.

    The design of the furniture and its functionality will largely depend on the quality of the door made. To assemble the door, you first need to prepare the frame. To do this, we take thin beams and fasten the frame to the required height and width. To make the frame strong, we use a diagonal jumper. After this, the frame can be sheathed with clapboard. We fasten it using ordinary nails. Next, we complete the canvas with locks, hinges and handles, and then attach it to the cabinet itself.

    Choose a location. Everything is simple here, because the balconies have special niches for installing built-in wardrobes.

    It is better to make it from cheap lining.

    Decorating a lining cabinet - the final stage

    After completing the installation of the structure, you can begin the final stage - decoration. It all depends on the interior of the balcony and the personal wishes of the owners of the house.

    Decide on the type of structure.

    Select material. Without proper experience, working with expensive wood or glass is not worth it.

    A lining cabinet can be left as is if the balcony design also contains wooden decorative elements. However, to extend the life of the cabinet, it must be coated with a protective varnish. Before doing this, you should thoroughly vacuum all wooden surfaces, and only then coat them with several layers of varnish.

    To make it easier, you need to create a plan for the future cabinet on a regular piece of paper.

    If you want to make the cabinet on the balcony brighter, you can use oil or acrylic paints. Oil paints are cheaper. They dry quickly and will be able to repel moisture, which is necessary for lining. However, after five years, a wooden surface coated with oil paints will begin to fade and crack. For these reasons, it is better to give preference to acrylate paints.

    In the plan, indicate the dimensions of the structure, the number and type of shelves, the presence or absence of doors.

    The cabinet can be painted in one color, or you can create patterns on its doors. original drawing or ornament.

    To facilitate this process, you can look at the photos for examples of such furniture.

    The idea of building a wardrobe for a balcony with your own hands arises quite often. After all, in such a cabinet it will be so convenient to store jars and various household items.

    The only drawback of almost all balconies and loggias is their small width, so you need to carefully choose furniture. For example, a closet on a balcony should be narrow enough and its open door should not block the room.

    These requirements are fully met by a wardrobe, which can be made to order or assembled with your own hands. In addition to the wardrobe, corner cabinets, of which there may be several, are also well suited for the balcony. It is necessary to consider options with mezzanines, on which you can put away those things that are used very rarely in the family.

    In this article you will receive step-by-step instructions on how to make a balcony cabinet with your own hands. So let's get started...

    Selection of tools and materials

    In order to assemble a cabinet with your own hands, you will need the following tools and materials:

    • wooden blocks;
    • plywood, fiberboard or chipboard;
    • boards;
    • self-tapping screws;
    • aluminum profile;
    • drywall or plastic;
    • self-tapping screws;
    • stain, varnish and paint;
    • electric drill;
    • grinder and small electric circular saw.

    Having all these necessary materials and the skill to work with the listed tools, making a cabinet on the balcony will not be difficult.

    Where to start making a cabinet for a balcony

    To assemble the cabinet, you can use metal or aluminum corners or wooden blocks. Plywood, fiberboard, chipboard or plastic will be attached to them. A cabinet located along the wall of a balcony or loggia is equipped with a door that slides to the side, and corner cabinets are equipped with a door that opens toward itself.

    The options for balcony cabinets are extremely diverse and depend on the imagination and skill of the craftsman. When planning them, you need to remember a good Russian proverb: “measure seven times, cut once.” The widest cabinets are mounted at the ends of the balcony, and the narrowest ones are installed along the wall.

    Fastening the frame and installing shelves

    The manufacture of any cabinet begins with securing the frame. As already noted, it can be wooden or metal. The frame is attached to the floor and ceiling of the balcony using metal corners and screws or dowels. It is preferable to build tall cabinets up to the ceiling of the balcony. This allows for more rational use usable area. Although, there may be other options.

    It is necessary to ensure that the frame is held firmly. Then, cladding panels are attached to the finished frame. They need to be secured with self-tapping screws with a recessed head.

    Along with the cladding, the internal shelves of the cabinet are also built. It is best to make them removable. This will make it easier to keep clean.

    The shelves must be durable, since heavy items such as pickles and jars of jam are often stored on the balcony. Best option make them from planed boards 2-4 cm thick and 15-25 cm wide. If possible, such boards can also be used for cladding. Although this will cost more than cladding made from other materials, the boards are easier to install and they are not afraid of dampness.

    Installation of cabinet doors

    Once the lining and internal shelves are secured, you can begin installing the cabinet doors. Installation of doors is the most complex and time-consuming process, since it is necessary to strictly maintain all dimensions.

    As has already been said, on corner cabinets doors are mounted swinging, and on cabinets located along the walls - sliding. Sliding doors, so-called sliding doors, are mounted on aluminum profiles, along which they slide, opening. This profile can easily be purchased at a store that sells furniture fittings. Must only be used high-quality fittings. This will help prevent future profile breakdowns or dimensional discrepancies during installation.

    The doors of the balcony closet can be hinged (as in this photo) or sliding.

    The sliding door leaf itself can be made of any material. If you want it to be light, make it from plastic. In this case, wooden blocks are attached to the plastic from below and verified with self-tapping screws, on which the fittings are fixed.

    Opening doors on corner cabinets can also be made of any material and secured with hinges. If the door is small, on a small cabinet, you can use simple piano hinges. If it’s large, use special hinges for attaching cabinet doors. In the second case, the hinges will need to be adjusted after installation. This is easily done using the screws located on them.

    To prevent doors from opening on their own, you can use magnetic latches. During installation, such latches are attached to the door and to the cabinet itself and adjusted so that the two halves match when closing. Magnetic latches hold the door firmly and it opens easily with little effort. Correctly installed doors on sliding wardrobes do not require latches.

    Painting the cabinet

    Once the doors are installed and adjusted, you can move on to painting the new cabinets. If the cladding is made of boards, they can be covered with stain and varnish. However, the same can be done with any other material except, of course, plastic.

    You can also consider options for painting cabinets with oil-based or water-based paint.

    The design option for a balcony cabinet depends on general design premises.

    After painting, handles are attached to the doors.
