You can paint the walls beautifully. Applying decorative paint. Using a rag roller

Painting walls is easier, cheaper and more reliable than wallpapering, not to mention other finishing methods. However, not everyone wants to live among boring monochrome walls. Painting an accent wall in a contrasting tone is the easiest trick, but it’s already more fun with it. Let's go even further: with the help of this collection of ideas and workshops, you can make painted walls a real interior chip on your own!

stripes

A simple solution that will make the interior more dynamic. The stripes can be the same or different colors, different widths, contrasting shades, or only slightly different in tone (this, by the way, is the latest trend, it makes the room extraordinarily elegant and delicate) - as your fantasy tells you. Horizontal stripes will visually expand the space, while vertical stripes will raise the ceiling. Making them is quite simple: choose masking tape of the desired width, stick it on the base color of the paint and cover it with a different color on top. When you peel off the tape, the wall will be striped.

Zigzags (chevron)

Zigzags are more difficult to make - you will need to first draw a wall with a ruler. Link to the master class.

Christmas tree pattern

gossamer

To get a geometric pattern, you can make not only symmetrical patterns, but also stylish and unexpected compositions. For example, cover the wall with a pattern similar to a cobweb or a grid of polygons. To create them, you will need all the same adhesive tape and technique as when coloring strips. These drawings are now at the height of fashion. Master class among the images below.

Geometry

Geometric shapes are on trend right now. They can be created on the basis of a web, just the emphasis is shifted to internal forms, not lines. They may also be completely unlined.

For small geometric shapes painted on the walls, or complex patterns, it will be more convenient to use stencils. We wrote a lot about this.

ombre

A color that gradually fades and blurs or smoothly flows into another is an interesting solution for decorating walls. Ombre can be with soft transitions, or it can be striped (each stripe is a different tone of color) or even in the form of waves. Link to master class.

unpainted wall effect

This technique is an opportunity to highlight any zone with color with careless grace. The border between two or more colors, when painted, is torn with a dried roller or brush, leaving the impression of incompleteness. The method is suitable for creative interiors and loft style.

Partial painting

You can paint only part of the wall: bottom, top, or draw a wide horizontal strip. It looks interesting if you paint not only the wall, but also the door or other objects that come across on the way.

Focus on the zone

Painting a small section of the wall serves as a great accent and helps with zoning. With the current trend towards minimalism, this is a great decorative technique that does not take up space in the room. Accents can be, for example, a circle around the shelf, triangles behind the dining area, a vertical wide stripe behind the cabinet. This technique was actively used for transformation.

Stamps

Another way to apply a pattern to a wall is to print. Thus, the wall can be made, for example, with polka dots or a heart, or filled with a more complex pattern. Stamps of the desired shape can be made independently or to order, and for some cases, a regular bowl or cardboard base of toilet paper will do. Link to master class.

Recently, painted walls have become a favorite again. But ordinary paint is no longer interesting. There are now compositions with different effects. They are called decorative wall paint. They can be used both in living rooms and in technical rooms. Different compositions, different properties.

What is decorative wall paint and how to apply it

Decorative paint is called, which creates some visual effects. This group does not include the usual opaque monophonic compositions. Only those that differ from them in some way. These compositions reproduce different natural materials. Silk, velvet, plush, sand, natural stone, leather, velour, etc. They are sometimes called decor paints, since this is not just a background, but an independent decorative element.

Decorative wall paint with silk effect - an element of decor in itself

Most often, decorative paint is applied as usual - with a brush, roller or spray gun. If the texture itself is “rich”, this is quite enough. The walls already look unusual. In this case, they are just a background. Beautiful, unusual stylish, but the background.

Rollers with embossed relief - easy and simple to get an unusual wall decor

To get more interesting surfaces, special application techniques are used. The simplest are embossed rollers. They break up the monotony of paint by adding relief. There are other tricks as well.

  • The applied paint is rubbed off. So from "silk" paint you can get wet silk or plush.
  • Partially erase the paint with crumpled paper, a sponge, a piece of fur, plastic or metal notched trowels, steel wool, etc.
  • From above they pass with a semi-dry roller or a hard brush with a darker or lighter paint.
  • Apply a plastic film to the painted piece, crumple it a little and remove it.

Some ways to get creative

In general, there are a lot of options. This process is completely creative and there are many variations. And the result can be very different, even if you use the same paint.

Decor paint effects

As already mentioned, decorative wall paint reproduces certain textures of natural materials. In this case, they often talk about the paint "with effect." For example, with the effect of silk, sand, stone, leather, etc. There are many options and variations, and you can get lost in specialized catalogs. It will be a little easier if you have an idea of what can be found and what it might look like.

As you can see, the list alone is impressive. And different colors will look the same effect in different ways. This is due to the fact that components and placeholders differ. And the difference is sometimes significant. In general, it is usually difficult to decide. But know that whatever you choose, it will be interesting.

Decorative wall paint with the effect of silk and silk threads

Silk-like wall paint is available from many manufacturers. If there are at least a few decorative or interior paints, then one of them is silk. The look is very sophisticated and delicate. Suitable for living rooms, bedrooms. In terms of performance (acrylic can be washed with a brush) it can also be used in the corridor, but if you are satisfied with such a “refined” look of your hallway.

When choosing, pay attention to the base. Safety is important for a home. The best option is a silk-effect paint based on an aqueous acrylic dispersion. It is relatively inexpensive (when compared with silicone, for example), is washable, does not fade and can be dyed in all colors. Many decorative paints are made on this basis. To obtain a paint with the effect of silk, a special kind of mother-of-pearl and pigment are added to it.

It looks like interior silk paint on the wall

Paint consumption is average, you will have to paint in two layers at least. This is with low absorbency or pre-priming. An absorbent surface will require three coats exactly. And the paint is not cheap, so it is better to primer. If the paint is based on acrylic dispersion, then we take acrylic primer. But better than the same company as the paint. There will be no product compatibility issues.

Of the disadvantages - the surface for staining should be flat. Almost perfectly flat. The second point - if you want to get "exclusive", you need to master the application technique. You can, of course, just roll it with a roller. It will also work well. But it might be more interesting.

You can wash with a detergent (not abrasive), a rag or a brush. Such cleaning does not affect the appearance. In the sense that it does not get worse. Where the walls are often touched, “glossy” places may remain. If you want to have such a coating in the hallway, consider varnishing. But this type of paint "breathes", so when varnishing, lose this effect.

Each company that produces decorative paint with a silk effect, the appearance of the coating is slightly different. Some people have multiple options. And not colors, but textures

If you think that silk effect paint looks the same from all manufacturers, you are mistaken. They use different additives, resulting in slightly different surfaces. This type of decorative paint is popular, so some have several paints that give different textures. There are also different application techniques. With their help, you can get a different type of surface: classic, wet and crinkled silk.

The effect of sand or sand dunes on the walls

The composition of the paint with the effect of sand includes binders, solvents, antiseptics, crystal dispersions. When applied, we get overflows, after drying, the texture appears. With different application techniques, we get a different look - dunes, dunes, sand overflows.

The effect of sand and sand dunes is created using a special decorative wall paint.

The paint is easy to apply, no special techniques are required. Due to the pronounced texture, minor wall defects are hidden. So the requirements for the surface are not so strict.

Application and operation

The paint is easy to apply, no complicated techniques are required. Unless you want to have not just “sand”, but dunes. But to create such an effect, special formulations are required.

Washing the paint with the effect of sand with a brush will not work. Gentle cleaning with soft nozzles on the vacuum cleaner. And keep in mind, if you touch a wall painted with sand effect paint, then the relief crumbles. But this is imperceptible and does not affect the appearance. The surface is initially heterogeneous, the relief just changes slightly. The view does not suffer from this. The service life is up to 10 years, which is not bad at all for paint.

Pay attention to the availability of hygiene certificates for this type of paint. The binder is not always harmless. So the presence of certification and a certificate from the sanitary inspection on the amount of emitted substances is simply necessary.

Structural paint with sand for decorative plaster

Both natural stone effect paints look about the same

A very good copy in terms of performance. Has very good adhesion. Very smooth surfaces - such as plastic - require a primer. The rest can be painted right away. It is applied from a spray gun or using a special roller (of the same company). Appearance depends on the method of application. After the roller, a surface with pronounced flakes of "stone" remains. After the spray gun, the surface is more even.

In operation, this paint imitating stone is convenient and durable. It can even be washed with a brush. For Rust Oleum, additional protection (in the form of varnish) is not required, and for Siberia in heavily polluted areas it is better to varnish. The paint is repairable. If a bald spot or a chip has turned out somewhere, you need to moisten a piece of sponge with water, wring it out and dip it into the paint, apply it to the right place and wait until it dries.

There are also paints under the stone in spray cans. But they are unlikely to be used for painting walls. Unless for a panel, some kind of decoration. It's too expensive.

It looks like stone paint "Alatyr stone"

Another type of surface gives paint with the effect of burnt stone Alatyr-stone. It is also called "liquid granite". It is applied by spraying through an airbrush. There are single and multi-color options. Less shiny than described above. It is positioned as resistant to cracks, ultraviolet. After drying, it must be varnished.

Decorative wall paint in the interior: photo

Seeing what effect paint looks like on a piece of cardboard or on a screen is one thing. And to imagine how it will look in the interior is quite another. To facilitate the task, we have collected several photos of interesting interior solutions. As a recommendation, if you are going to cover all the walls, look towards very light shades. Bright and dark go for accents. These are accent walls, dedicated zones. In general, see for yourself.

Through one color "shines through" another - one of the tricks

And someone calls the gray color boring. Gotta play him right.

Bright color - only on one wall. It also repeats in some small details or has. In this case, the second option is chosen - the color of the floor

Different application techniques give a different look. Chaotic movements are used here with a narrow spatula on a freshly painted surface.

This is the result of rolling with a relief roller. non-standard

Cracked old paint effect. Very interesting, but requires an appropriate interior

Ordered chaos. So you can call the principle of drawing these lines

Triple effect: silk, two colors and stripes

This can be done from paint with mother-of-pearl, silk effect or velvet / velor, metallic

Tired of the monotony in the interior? Would you like something like this? It's time to think about decorative wall painting, which allows you to achieve original and unusual effects.

Tools used for decorative

Experts say that thanks to a special set of tools, it is possible to achieve a decorative effect even using ordinary paint. These are rollers (ordinary foam, fur, rubber or texture), brushes, brushes, scrapers, spatulas (plastic, metal, rubber, toothed), Venetian trowel, sponges (foam and natural, marine), pieces of crumpled paper and fabric, bars for sanding, sandpaper and stencils.

You do not have to spend money on acquiring all this arsenal: what exactly you need from the list will depend on what effect you want to get on the walls. The cost of all these tools is not so high, but they will last a sufficient time - if you handle them carefully, and rinse immediately after painting.

Craftsmen figured out how to use even more affordable analogues instead of some tools. For example, a texture roller can be made from a regular one using a piece of cloth or a plastic bag and rope. The paint application pattern will turn out to be unpredictable and interesting, and no one else will have this for sure.

Professionals consider decorative wall painting one of the most economical ways to transform rooms. Paints are applied in 1-2 layers (the 2nd layer of paint usually takes 20% less). So the 1st can of 2.5 liters may be enough to cover 40 m2. The exact consumption of material will depend on what effect and tool is used.

The services of specialists in decorative painting of walls are expensive. And this is the case when you can save a lot by doing decorative wall painting with your own hands. The main thing is to carefully study the instructions for application and a variety of options for obtaining decorative effects.

Interesting effects using a textured roller

In order to create a glazing effect or, in simple terms, spectacular blurry spots, deep colors of various saturation, the wall must first be painted in the base shade. After that, with a crumpled dry (or wet - to get a softer ornament) piece of fabric (or a plastic bag), the pattern is randomly stuffed with paint of a shade different from the base color. Other things that can create texture are quite suitable for a similar purpose: sponges (give a soft spotty ornament), a brush (spray method), and also your own palms.

A “wallpaper-like” ornament is created on painted walls using volumetric patterned rollers (they are also called stencil rollers). Rubber or silicone models are used, but pile rollers can also be used, they also create an interesting pattern. To get a good result of the work being done, before applying the drawing, it is worth conducting a trial painting (on a sheet or somewhere at the bottom of the wall), and already in the process of work, regularly remove excess paint from the roller so that ugly streaks do not appear.

As noted above, you can create an interesting textured roller with your own hands. To do this, an ordinary roller is put on a “fur coat” made of sponge, rag, suede, paper or film (all this is fixed on the surface with the help of threads). With the help of such an unusual tool, a chaotic spotted ornament is imprinted on the walls.

To create a marble ornament, two colors of the main shade are taken. First of all, the walls are painted in the main background shade. Then, using a wide brush, uneven stripes are applied to the wall, running parallel and not painting over the entire surface of the wall. As a result, we achieve an original and beautiful ornament. In those places where the two primary shades are mixed, a third color appears. After that, a pattern is applied with a thin brush that imitates the veins of natural stone. Then, after the layer dries, the final finishing is performed. For this purpose, you need to take a small sponge and moisten it in paint, previously diluted with water. Then, with a sponge, it is necessary to blot the entire surface of the wall - as a result, a beautiful smoky effect is obtained. If you apply paint of various colors on the wall in 2-4 layers, and then brush it along the wall with a stiff brush and cover the wall with wax, you can also get a “marble effect”. If you walk over the layer of paint with a cloth (this method is called “rolling the cloth”), you get the illusion of falling folds. We “comb” the not-dry layer of paint with a brush with hard bristles, holding it parallel to the wall, and we get an imitation of a coarse natural fabric (“linen” technique).

Water emulsion will help to get the illusion of crumpled paper. For this purpose, another layer of paint of a different color is applied to the dried 1st layer with a crumpled plastic bag. You can replace the crumpled bag with a sponge, which also helps to create the illusion of a grainy and textured wall.

How to apply decorative paints

A variety of types of decorative wall paints, presented on the modern market, provide a huge expanse for the implementation of creative ideas. The advantage of these unique ready-made compositions is that their application does not require special skills and the use of special tools.

Compositions with the effect of mother-of-pearl ("chameleon paints") change their color at different angles of illumination, which creates the impression of walls covered with silk fabric.

In coloring compositions with the effect of velor or velvet, solid multi-colored particles are present. After applying such paint, the surface of the wall becomes textured, visually soft, deep - like a real velor fabric.

A feature of granite (mosaic) paint is the multi-colored acrylic bubbles included in this mixture. When painting from a spray gun, the bubbles break against the wall, as a result of which a perfect illusion of a granite texture is created.

Wall paint has replaced the once fashionable wallpaper. This material is easy to handle, cheap and has great potential for decoration. However, in order to qualitatively and quickly paint the walls in the apartment, you need to know some of the nuances of the choice of paintwork materials and its application.

Choice

Modern shops selling goods for repairs have a very wide range of paints, which complicates their choice. All paints are divided into 2 large groups: paints for interior and facade work.

For painting walls and ceilings in the house, it is necessary to use paints for interior work - they are not toxic, they practically do not have an unpleasant odor.

Water-dispersion paints are very popular and convenient for interior decoration. They, in turn, are divided into latex, silicone, vinyl and acrylic. These paints have a lot of advantages: they support natural moisture exchange, are resistant to fading and abrasion.

A new generation of paints easily tolerate even wall washing. A huge plus of water-dispersion paints is their possibility, which gives boundless scope for imagination. The same reason is also a minus - it is necessary to clearly calculate the amount of paint needed for the work, otherwise, when re-pointing paintwork materials with tinting paste, you can make a mistake with the color intensity.

You can also paint the walls with newfangled textured paints. They not only change the color of the walls, but also imitate a different texture. You can choose paint with imitation of wood, natural stone or cork wood.

Color

When choosing paint, you need to decide which color is better to choose for walls and ceilings. When buying tinting pastes, you need to focus not only on the color of the paste itself, but also on the degree of dilution.

If you plan to completely change the look of your home, then choose the paint in accordance with the style that was chosen as the main one in the interior. If a slight refreshment of the situation is planned, then the color of the paintwork should be combined with the color of the existing furniture and textiles.

Do not strive to make the walls and ceilings of particularly bright colors, a room in light colors looks more comfortable and cozy. It is advisable to use dark shades exclusively in bright, spacious rooms, otherwise the room may seem much smaller than its size.

In addition to the color of the tinting paste, it is very important to know the degree of glossiness of the paint itself. The more gloss in the paint, the brighter the original color will be.

Training

To understand how to paint the walls with your own hands, you do not need to be a professional. It is enough to stick to the scheme to get a good result.

Before going to the hardware store, measure the area of the surface to be painted - this will allow you to take the required amount of paint. At the same time, do not forget to look at the degree of hiding power of the paint and its consumption, otherwise at the most inopportune moment the paint you bought will not be enough, despite the correct calculations.

All chips and irregularities must be repaired with putty and after waiting for it to dry, treat these places with fine sandpaper. After the wall, you need to treat it with a primer - this treatment contributes to better adhesion of the paint to the wall and reduces its consumption.

For the best quality of painting, before starting it, it is necessary to temporarily dismantle all switches and sockets and, if possible, heating radiators. Furniture should preferably be taken out or moved to the middle of the room and covered with construction film, thereby protecting it from paint splashes.

To paint the walls without staining the ceiling, you need to use a wide masking tape. Glue it around the entire perimeter of the ceiling, not pressing hard to the surface. The adhesive tape should be removed before the paint is completely dry, otherwise you may not get a smooth painting line.

Painting

This stage should begin with the preparation of the paint. To do this, it should be thoroughly mixed and, if necessary, add a little thinner, if such a procedure is possible for this paint.

Always start painting from top to bottom. Start painting from the ceiling, then you will avoid dripping paint on freshly painted walls. The ceiling should be painted from the window deep into the room, starting from the corner.

You need to paint the surface in stripes, while each strip should overlap the previous one a little. If you need to apply a second coat of paint, wait until the surface is completely dry.

It is most convenient to paint the walls and ceiling with a wide round roller, while using a special roller with a metal plate in the corners.

To fully master the technique of painting walls in hard-to-reach places, you can watch videos and photos on how to paint walls. This will help to choose convenient tools for painting and facilitate the work itself, reducing the time it takes.

Following this instruction on how to properly paint walls and ceilings, you can make high-quality repairs with your own hands, without resorting to the help of specialists.

The original decorative painting of the walls can quickly transform any room - residential or non-residential. A huge variety of dyes, textures, color combinations, application methods will allow you to design an apartment, a private house, an office in accordance with your own ideas about beauty, and the costs will be relatively low.

Advantages of decorative paints

Dyes - a finishing material intended for wall decoration, have many positive qualities:

  • they retain a good appearance for a relatively long time - many times more than simple plaster, wallpaper;
  • in stores, in construction markets there is a huge selection of colors, effects;
  • there are no joints on the painted plane - it is covered with a uniform layer of pigment;
  • due to its high water resistance, the material is suitable for kitchen walls, bathroom;
  • the use of a water-based composition creates an environmentally friendly coating that does not cause allergies, does not emit toxins, which is important when decorating a nursery;
  • if the room wants to be repainted, it is not necessary to remove the previous layer at all;
  • coloring compositions fit perfectly on plasterboard, plastered, concrete, wood, walls made of OSB boards.

The main thing that is required from the decorative coating of the walls is the uniformity of its application.

Types of decorative paints

Decorative dye contains various additives, has a thicker consistency than ordinary, creates a very unusual design, and the appearance of the coating depends on the thickness of the application. Such compositions are divided into two main types: for external and internal work. By the type of film-forming component, four groups are distinguished: acrylic, water-based, latex, alkyd. You can paint with them not only the walls, but also the ceiling, doors, individual decorative elements.

If there is no painting experience or minimal, you should not take on the implementation of complex patterns, starting with the simplest ones.

Acrylic

This type is the most popular, refers to water-dispersion, invented in the middle of the twentieth century. The composition contains acrylic resin, which creates a coating of high strength, elasticity, polymer emulsion, pigment. The coloring matter retains color for a long time, but for rooms where there is high humidity, such material is not used. It is easy to apply, dries in thirty to forty minutes. Separate varieties are used for artistic painting of the walls of any rooms, facades of buildings, and are sold both in cans of 0.5-4.5 kg, and in the form of aerosols in cans.

Latex

Latex dyes are created on a water-dispersion basis, they contain rubber, which forms an elastic, very durable film coating that is resistant to sunlight and water ingress. There is no harmful "chemistry" in them, because the material is suitable even for a children's bedroom, any interior that does not have sudden temperature changes, strong drafts. Three types are produced: glossy, matte, semi-gloss.
The dye is easily applied to any base - the film is very elastic, it beautifully repeats the surface relief. The coating is vapor-permeable, durable, inexpensive. It should be applied only on a perfectly flat surface.

Before painting, it is desirable to treat the surface with antifungal agents.

water emulsion

Refers to water-dispersion, contains pigments, polymers, water. The coating comes out moisture resistant - when water gets on such a wall, it evaporates, but does not penetrate inside. The composition is completely non-toxic, fireproof, fits well on any surface except varnished and glued, practically odorless, not suitable for covering walls in damp rooms, excessively smooth surfaces. Easy to apply with a brush, roller, spray gun, drying time depends on humidity, room temperature - an average of 3-24 hours.

Alkyd, oil

They are used to protect surfaces in rooms where there are high temperatures, high humidity. The composition contains alkyd resins that increase the service life of the coating. Saturated color remains for a long time, but when applied, dried, the paint has a strong, unpleasant smell. Since alkyd resins can harm human health, these compounds are used exclusively for exterior decoration or in non-residential, well-ventilated spaces.

Oil contains drying oil, pigment, fillers. As pigments are used:

  • soot;
  • graphite powder;
  • white (zinc, lead, titanium);
  • iron salts;
  • oxides of lead, cobalt, etc.

Oil formulations are applied in a thin, even layer, avoiding streaks that spoil the appearance. An excessively thick layer dries for a long time, looks worse.

Silicone

The paint is durable, moisture-resistant, heat-resistant, conveniently applied with a spray gun or brush, suitable for interior and exterior work, there is a huge variety of colors. It is not suitable for concrete surfaces, it is heavily consumed on wooden ones, and it is relatively expensive. There are two groups - protective emulsions and primers.

Created on the basis of "liquid glass" with ethyl silicate, polymers. Suitable for finishing facades, any interior. The material is very durable, zinc, aluminum pigments are often added to it, which give the coating anti-corrosion properties. For greater density, the composition includes chalk, mica, talc, etc.

These compounds are used for all kinds of surfaces - cement, limestone, plaster, brick. Completely unsuitable for all types of plastic, natural wood, some types of artificial stone. There are two varieties - silicone-silicate and silicate-dispersion.

How to prepare walls for painting

When a wall is painted for the first time, its surface must be gradually prepared for such a design. What exactly do they do:

  • remove the old finish;
  • ground the plane;
  • cover up various flaws;
  • putty, grind irregularities;
  • primed again;
  • waiting for the putty to dry completely.

Upon completion of the preparatory work, the wall is completely ready for decorative painting.

Cramped rooms with an area of three to six square meters that do not have windows (such as a hallway, a bathroom) should not be painted in excessively cold, dark colors. It is also advisable to refuse large bright drawings - such a room will look very small.

Necessary materials, tools

To paint the walls of the room, you will need approximately the following set of tools:

  • rollers;
  • sponges;
  • tray;
  • spatulas - steel, plastic, rubber, notched;
  • hard brushes;
  • sandpaper;
  • stencils - if you want to depict a clear ornament;
  • a mixer or a special nozzle on a drill - for stirring;
  • masking tape - to protect places that are not planned to be painted.

Before starting work, you should consider what kind of effect you plan to get so as not to buy a bunch of extra tools.

Application methods

Professional decorative paints are expensive, so cheaper analogues are often used, which, when used properly, create an equally beautiful decor. There are many examples of coloring - these are “star dust” and “wrinkled skin”, “silk effect” and “pearl effect”, “ombre” and the effect of an unpainted surface, Venetian plaster and stippling, the use of stencils and special electrical tape.

It is not advisable to use more than two or three contrasting colors in one room - this greatly overloads the interior, especially in small rooms.

Using stencils

A stencil is the most original way to quickly transform any room, as well as:

  • visually change the shape of the room;
  • "refresh" the interior;
  • organize a niche;
  • "hide" the doorway;
  • mask the imperfections of the painted plane.

If you use a homemade stencil with an image repeated on textiles, the design of the room will become complete, and you don’t have to be an artist for this.
Stencils are distinguished by the methods of applying paints:

  • one-color - one dye is used;
  • multicolor - two or more colors are used;
  • volumetric - a kind of bas-relief is formed on the wall, two to three mm high;
  • reverse - paint over the space around the picture.

There are disposable and reusable options. The stencil is made by hand or ordered from specialists with any desired pattern. The most popular are plant and flower motifs, stylized animal figurines, regular geometric figures, plot abstractions, monograms and meanders.

The paint is applied through a stencil using brushes, a roller, a foam swab, a spray gun.

This option is used for both walls and ceilings. If you use gold, silver paint on a dark background, the design will come out the most sophisticated.
How it's done:

  • the wall is painted in the desired color or several at once;
  • the brush is dipped into the paint, slightly squeezed;
  • after it is bent in the opposite direction so that the dye splashes on the painted plane - here it is also allowed to use two or three or more different colors.

For work it is better to use a hard brush.

Stippling - the effect of aging

With this method of finishing, the wall looks as if “shabby”, shabby, very old, for this it:

  • paint in the desired color;
  • an acrylic layer is applied on top to get contrast;
  • cover with colored glaze, combined with a painted wall;
  • smooth the glaze on the wall as evenly as possible with a flat brush;
  • with a round-shaped paint brush, randomly touch different places, which gives the surface the effect of antiquity.

The method also has a minus: in the presence of multiple bulges, "pits", they all become visible to the naked eye.

The design is very suitable for loft styles, believe me.

The result of painting looks as if the walls of the room are covered with leather, which looks very solid in the office, study, various expensive interiors - baroque, empire, classic.
Finishing goes like this:

  • the surface is pre-prepared;
  • the walls are covered with paint containing latex;
  • the glaze is mixed with latex paint, but the tone is selected a little darker than the main one;
  • a small section of the wall is covered with the mixture described above, with a brush made of suede, previously moistened in water, squeezed out, with the help of light touches, it is carried out on a still wet surface, creating smooth decorative stains, sometimes removing excess;
  • when there are lines that are very noticeable, they are blotted with wet suede, cut into pieces, creating a semblance of a surface covered with leather.

A beautiful coating is done step by step, it requires some time costs:

  • you will need mother-of-pearl glaze, acrylic primer, vinyl dye in two shades;
  • a paper square is taken from a decorative material, a fragment of the wall is smeared under its size;
  • the leaf is wrinkled, applied to the plane, after it must be smoothed out, a “wrinkled” coating should be made;
  • with similar pieces, process the entire wall completely.

Venetian plaster effect

This option is one of the most decorative. It is used in art deco, classic, gothic, etc. interiors. To create a "Venetian" do the following:

  • latex paint is poured into a wide dish;
  • pigment for paints is sprinkled from one edge, gently stirring with a stick - dark and light parts will come out;
  • a lighter dye is taken with a spatula, applied like plaster;
  • after a dark composition is applied, part of the wall is covered;
  • when dark and light fragments are obtained, they are gently smeared with a spatula over the surface from side to side to make it look beautiful;
  • at the end, the plane is polished with fine sandpaper, rubbed with wax.
