Many home craftsmen dream of cutting their own lumber. This is not a difficult task, but without suitable equipment it is almost impossible. So why not use a hand-held circular saw for this and assemble a table with your own hands with the ability to make longitudinal and transverse cuts?

Make one hole with a diameter of 10 mm in the four corners of the shoe. Drilling locations are arbitrary. Place the saw blade in the groove of the tabletop and align the shoe with the marking. Mark the centers of the holes made on the plywood and transfer them to the back side with a thin drill bit.

If there is not enough room in the support shoe to drill such large holes, use two steel plates with welded 6 mm studs, attach them to the base of the saw with wing nuts backed by star washers. In this case, remove the saw to self made and returning it to its place without additional adjustment will be a matter of five minutes. The plates, in turn, have one large hole each for reliable installation and initial adjustment of the position of the saw.

To fasten the saw to the tabletop, you need to use M8 plowshare bolts with a countersunk conical head. Under them, an 8 mm hole is drilled from the front side and a countersink is made for the cap, which, when untightened, should protrude no more than 1 mm above the surface. WITH reverse side the bolts pass into the holes of the support shoe (or steel plates) and are tightened under a wide and spring washer, or a nut with a plastic lock.

If the fitting was successful, the tabletop needs to be secured to the frame. In the four corners of the plywood board you need to drill one hole, the same as for attaching the saw. The distance from the edges is half the side of the bar used plus the thickness of the box wall, in our case it is 30 mm. A 10 mm hole is drilled in the center of each block, and a steel fitting M8x18 mm is screwed inside.

Once the tabletop is secure, turn the table on its side so you can access the blade and saw mounting points at the same time. Putting it away for a while protective cover, align the saw blade along the longitudinal axis of the table using a saw blade and a square. After adjusting the disc, tighten the fastening nuts thoroughly. Using a ruler or level attached to the disk, mark the edges of the table and draw a line for the cutting plane along them. Run an awl along the line several times, leaving a shallow furrow; such markings will definitely not be erased after long use.

Start button and electrics

The standard power button must be bypassed, and if this is not possible, clamp it with a clothespin or a tourniquet. Instead of a button on the handle, a small electrical network installed inside the box will be used.

On the outer front side of the box, install a double “Start/Stop” button with locking. Its normally open contact is connected to the power cable break. The ends of the wire are connected to plug socket, screwed with inside.

After the saw is connected and tested in operation, it is necessary to pull a nylon stocking folded in three onto the air intake grille.

Cross cutting guide

It is convenient to trim parts in the presence of a thrust beam, which moves along guides along the cutting line. This can be made from ordinary 9 mm plywood.

You only need a few planks:

  • 150x250 mm 2 pcs.
  • 100x820 mm 2 pcs.
  • 150x820 mm 1 pc.
  • 142x300 mm 1 pc.

As before, it is preferable to cut plywood using precision equipment. Three long planks need to be assembled in the shape of a channel 150 mm wide and with shelves of 100 mm. Since the heads of the screws will face the tabletop, you need to first drill out the plywood for them and recess the fasteners, and then sand the marks with sandpaper. It is safer to use confirmats instead of self-tapping screws.

Boards 150x250 mm are screwed like channel plugs, the free ends are directed downwards. The remaining strip is screwed between the shelves exactly in the center. If this beam is placed on a table, the side boards will drop down the sides of the box with a gap of about 10mm on each side.

Use full extension furniture slides with ball bearings. First attach them to the beam, and then try them on and screw them to the body. The mounting holes are oblong, use them to adjust the beam: it should slide over the tabletop with very little clearance and at right angles to the cutting plane. Run the beam once with the saw running to make a cut at the bottom. To quickly remove and install the beam, it is recommended to unclip the plastic clips on the guides in advance.

Adjustable rip fence

It is much easier to dissolve the forest if you have longitudinal stop. It can be made from a regular aluminum cornice or other lightweight profile with a perfectly straight edge and stiffening ribs. You will need a piece along the length of the table, that is, 800 mm.

Make two 8 mm holes 150 cm from the edges and insert an M8 bolt into them, oriented with the thread down. Screw on the nut without the washer and tighten tightly. Draw two lines at the same distance from the edges of the table. At their intersection with the center line of the tabletop, drill 12 mm holes. One more hole is drilled along the same lines with an indentation of 30 cm. Using a router or jigsaw, make two thin slots, it is advisable to make the cut as evenly as possible.

The stop profile is inserted with bolts into these slots; after adjustment, it can be tightened using wings with a wide washer on the inside. If the cutting width needs to be changed frequently, equip the table body with door hinges for easy opening. To quickly adjust the stop, attach pieces of tape from a tape measure to the ends of the table.

A circular saw is a productive, convenient and maneuverable tool with which various construction and Finishing work. If you need to perform large volumes of tasks, working with a manual circular saw is quite difficult. In such situations, a table for circular saw. You can assemble it yourself from boards and plywood. The saw itself will be placed at the bottom of the tabletop, and the toothed blade will fit into the slot. The saw turns on, the disk begins to rotate, lumber is fed and sawing occurs. If you wish, you can assemble an excellent table for a circular saw with your own hands. There is nothing complicated in this work.

It is difficult to work with large volumes of wood with a regular circular saw, so it is better to place it on a table.

Circular saw table design

Before assembling a circular table with your own hands, you need to carefully consider its design. At this stage, your task comes down, first of all, to calculating the load that will be placed on the table in the future. When assembling a saw table with your own hands, consider the power of the unit. Thus, for high-power industrial tools, it is recommended to use a reinforced steel welded structure. In the case of a home saw, there is no need for such a powerful design. It will be enough to assemble a saw table with your own hands from boards and plywood.

Setting up a table for a circular saw.

When planning to make a saw table with your own hands, you need, as already noted, to take into account the power of the tool. In home workshops, saws with a power of up to 800 W are most often used. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the frequency and volume of work performed. For example, when building a house you will have to cut much more material than under any other conditions. Experts do not advise buying saws more powerful than 1200 W for your home. In the case of a home workshop, this simply does not make sense.

The higher the power of the circular saw and the higher the volume of work performed, the more reliable, durable and stable the table you create should be. Professional-grade circular saws are installed on bases made of metal profiles. In some cases, such tables are even embedded in the floor, since vibration may cause the operator to briefly lose control of the saw, which will be enough to cause injury. Creating such a table requires certain skills in working with special tools, welding, etc. Assembling a regular one wooden table For home saw accessible to almost every person, even if he does not have such experience.

Preparing to assemble the table

Table assembly diagram.

The most simple option The table for the circular table is a structure made of fairly thick plywood and boards. Plywood in in this case will be used to make a table top. The tabletop itself will be stationary. The tool needs to be installed under it. First, a slot is created in the lid along which the saw blade will move.

Choose the dimensions of the table, first of all, based on yourself. You should be comfortable and comfortable working. The instructions cover the average and most common sizes. You can change them at your discretion. The height of the table is 1-1.15 m. Choose the length taking into account the nature of future work. If you often cut long boards, the table top should also be made long enough. If the length of the table top is more than 2 m, it is recommended to equip the structure with an additional pair support legs. Without them, the table will vibrate strongly.

The thickness of the plywood used to make the tabletop should be from 5 cm. Plexiglas and fiberglass are suitable for the same purpose. From using chipboard craftsmen recommend refraining due to the insufficiently high strength of the material.

The lid is polished and varnished in several layers. Thanks to this, the required sliding of the processed materials will be ensured. The best option is a reinforcement on the countertop metal sheet. This will increase the reliability of the surface and extend the service life of the product as a whole.

Materials and tools for work

Tabletop arrangement.

A table for a circular saw requires the mandatory presence of guides, thanks to which more high accuracy sawing materials. The guides are made from a metal corner. Clamps are usually used to secure them to the tabletop. It is not recommended to make the guides stationary. It will be more convenient if you can change their position in the future.

Prepare materials for self-assembly of the table:

  1. Plywood. If you wish, you can use a different material for the countertop.
  2. A metal sheet.
  3. Beam 50x50 mm.
  4. Board 50x100 mm.
  5. Clamps in the amount of 2 pcs.
  6. Metal corner for making guides.

Pre-gather all the necessary tools:

bed circular saw.

  1. Hacksaw. If possible, it is better to use a jigsaw instead.
  2. Screwdriver.
  3. Electric drill.
  4. Hand cutter or machine. If you don't have them, you can do without them.
  5. Tape measure and ruler for measurements.
  6. Square.

After preparing all the tools and materials, you can begin assembly. homemade table. Some craftsmen use old dining and kitchen tables. But you shouldn’t count on great durability of such products. It’s better to do everything yourself, “from scratch.” So you can collect comfortable table, fully meeting your needs and requests.

Step-by-step instructions for assembling the table

Table of circular saw made of steel plate.

First you need to form the tabletop. Take plywood sheet and make the markings. The edges of the sheet should match the two edges of the lid. Cut out the workpiece with a hacksaw or jigsaw. If desired, process the cuts with a router. This is optional, so you can skip this step. In the case of a circular saw table, reliability is more important than good looks. appearance.Roughly sand the countertop using sandpaper.

At the bottom, prepare a slot for the disk. Measure the circular saw blade. To make it as convenient as possible, remove the saw blade from the tool and simply circle the required part of the saw.

After completing the arrangement of the seat, try on the slab and make the required adjustments. Mark the slot locations for saw blade and fasteners. If the disk must rise and fall, the table must be equipped with a pendulum mechanism. In this case, the shape of the slot should look like a truncated pyramid. The top of this kind of pyramid needs to be directed downwards. For the manufacture of a lifting mechanism frame, it is better to use metal corners, welded to each other.

Assembling the frame and installing the legs

Table guide carriage for circular saw.

Next you need to make markings for the transverse and longitudinal slats. In the case of such a table, they act as stiffeners. Do it from the wrong side. The planks are made from timber. You need to prepare 2 longitudinal ribs. Select the length based on the length of the tabletop. It is enough to simply subtract 8-10 cm from it on each side. Cross bars there should also be 2. To determine their length, subtract 8-10 cm from the width of the tabletop on each side.

Prepare sockets for self-tapping screws. The slats are fixed so that the lid protrudes about 8-10 cm beyond the edges of the frame. It is important to make the most reliable and durable fastening. Install the first self-tapping screw at a distance of 4-5 cm from the edge of the rail. The screws themselves are mounted in increments of 20-22 cm. The parts need to be drilled through. The screw heads must be completely recessed into the tabletop material.

The transverse ribs are attached first. To ensure maximum reliability of the table, you must first coat the edges of the slats with wood glue. Tighten the structure with clamps and secure with self-tapping screws. Leave the table cover until completely dry, then install the longitudinal slats in the same way. Pull together the frame parts and install several fasteners on each side. After this you can remove the clamps.

To make the legs, use bars. The height of these elements is selected individually in accordance with the height of the operator. It is more convenient when the tabletop is located at hip level. Before installing the legs, plan them on one side so that the processed side goes to the corner. As a result, the base of the leg will have a little large area than the top.

It is best to use metal corners to secure the legs. You need to slightly press them in so that the base of the homemade table is positioned at odds. Thanks to this, the bed will become more stable. Fastening is done using bolts and washers. They need to be installed with their caps facing outwards. If installed differently, you may be injured by protruding fasteners during operation.

This will make the design even more reliable. The slats should be installed in pairs on the sides of the homemade table.

Thoroughly polish the surface of the countertop and cover it with several layers of varnish. Instead, you can use small screws to secure a smooth metal sheet.

Finally, the circular saw is installed in its intended place. Additionally, you can apply markings to the surface of the tabletop, which will facilitate smoother and more correct processing of the material being cut.

The control elements of such a machine need to be placed on outside countertops. Usually they are fixed on some table leg. Completing this step of the job requires some electrical installation skills. If they are absent, it is recommended to contact an appropriate specialist.

Thus, in self-assembly table for a circular saw there is nothing complicated. This does not require much time or money. You will spend much less on materials than on a ready-made factory table, and the quality of the product, if you follow the instructions, will be no worse. Good luck!

If you study the section on FORUMHOUSE " Homemade machines, tools and mechanisms”, then you can find “1000 and 1 option” of devices for the self-builder, which you cannot buy in the store. This can be a stand for a grinder, for precise and quick cutting metal profile, a mini-lathe, as well as all kinds of reinforcement and pipe benders and planes for aerated concrete. An interesting multifunctional and inexpensive sawing table was created by a portal member with the nickname id215711128.

  • How to make a saw table for a circular saw.
  • What materials and parts are needed for this.

Universal cutting table for circular saw

So, have id215711128 There is a powerful circular machine that is already more than 20 years old. Saw cutting depth 65 mm. During its operation, it turned out that it is difficult to achieve high-quality sawing of wood with its help. Reasons: the settings for the blade angle and cutting depth are constantly lost. The saw sole is made of thin metal, as a result it bends and the geometry is not maintained when cutting the workpiece.

First, the user followed the standard path - he began to modify the saw. I made devices to maintain the perpendicularity of the cut. I placed wedges to maintain the cutting depth. I built the saw into the table as is, but the frail M4 thread on the stands of the circular saw weakened and each new pass had to be adjusted anew. Despite the difficulties of sawing, id215711128 made 5 casing boxes. The “accident” that gave impetus to the construction of a multifunctional sawing table occurred when the craftsman was making sidewalls for the door casing.

id215711128

I sawed a two-meter beam. I have already selected the quarters, cut the locks, all that remains is to select the longitudinal groove intended for fixing the product on the wall. I made several cuts with a saw and when the workpiece was almost ready, the depth of the circular saw was lost. I practically sawed the beam in half, completely ruining the part. That’s it, I realized that I’ve had enough of this “dancing with a tambourine” and need a normal sawing table.

First, the user bought plywood for a countertop at a construction hypermarket. Then I developed a technical specification for what requirements the table should meet. So:

  1. The maximum possible reach of the saw blade is required.
  1. The saw blade must have an adjustable tilt angle - 90-45 degrees and an offset of 0 - max with reliable fixation of the specified parameters.
  2. The table must accommodate large cross-section parts, so the table dimensions are 1.22 x 1 m.
  3. Needs adjustable and securely fixed rip fence, as well as customizable horizontal and vertical clamps for workpieces.
  4. The table should be multifunctional, with the ability further installation router and electric jigsaw.

On this topic " universal devices carpentry" we recommend reading the articles: and.

Having decided on the requirements, id215711128 I was wondering what to make a mechanism for raising and lowering the saw from. The choice fell on a car screw diamond jack.

But, having gone to the store to buy bolts, studs and nuts, the user forgot to buy it there. Because I didn’t want to go back, the home-made man decided to replace the jack with a clamp, from which he cut off all the excess and welded what was needed.

The design of the lift turned out to be simple and reliable.

Next it was the turn to upgrade the circular. The user removed the sole and the saw blade cover from it, because... it interfered with the disk protection. The saw was disassembled with the expectation that, if necessary, it could be reassembled. The saw was placed on a lift.

The saw is tilted using a homemade rotary mechanism made from studs and boards.

According to the DIYer, due to metric thread the knobs have to be rotated a large number of revolutions, but with infrequent machine reconfigurations this is not critical.

The parallel fence has a length of 1220 mm. To prevent shifting of the far edge of the workpiece when sawing it, the stop is equipped with an additional lock.

All parts fit well together and are precisely fixed on the table, because... the geometry at the exit of the sawn workpiece depends on this.

id215711128

Tests of the machine showed that everything works as it should. The angles of inclination and depth of cut are not lost.

At this stage, the user took a time out and thought about how to upgrade the machine for sawing large workpieces. It came to mind to make a carriage, but it will “eat up” about 1 cm of the cutting depth. This can be critical because... The casing parts are made of timber and have dimensions of 1.5-2 m, with a cross-section of 10x20 cm. In addition, such timber weighs a lot, and pushing it along the table is inconvenient. The solution is that the workpiece stands still, but the saw itself moves.

id215711128

I remembered that when they cut plywood for me in a construction hypermarket, they did it with such a “cunning” machine, the saw blade of which moves from top to bottom and from left to right. After some thought, I decided to make a cart with rollers and adjusters on which the saw would move.

To make the device, the user bought rollers for a furniture trolley and a 5x5 cm corner. First id215711128 I decided to install only the lower and horizontal rollers. But, because Due to the application of force when moving the cart, a skew may occur, the master installed additional rollers on the cart that rest against the lower surface of the tabletop.

Those. the trolley is fixed in three directions. This ensures high precision of its movement.

During the “running in” of the table, it was necessary to adjust the coaxiality of the direction of the cut and the direction of movement of the trolley.

To do this, washers were placed under the fastening of the guide angles.

Having adjusted the machine, the homemaker tested it by sawing a board with a section of 20x5 cm.

With a blade stroke of 260 mm, this was enough for precise sawing of the workpiece.

d215711128

Using a simple circular saw as a basis, I managed to make a sawing and cross-cutting machine with the ability to make longitudinal and cross cuts. You can saw either by rigidly fixing the circular saw and moving the workpiece, or by moving the saw with the workpiece clamped with clamps while adjusting the depth and tilt of the disk. I plan to further improve the machine to make it even more functional and convenient. To do this you need to put:

  • Quick-release fixed stop with a protractor for trimming workpieces under any the right angle when moving the saw.
  • Movable protractor for processing small wooden products with a fixed circular.

The user also installed an eccentric clamp to fix the carriage in any position of the saw.

A circular saw is a productive, convenient and maneuverable tool with which various construction and finishing works are carried out. If you need to perform large volumes of tasks, working with a manual circular saw is quite difficult. In such situations, a circular saw table becomes an excellent assistant. The lid is polished and varnished in several layers. Thanks to this, the required sliding of the processed materials will be ensured. The best option is to attach a metal sheet to the tabletop. This will increase the reliability of the surface and extend the service life of the product as a whole.

Materials and tools for work

A table for a circular saw requires the presence of guides, which will ensure higher accuracy in cutting materials.

  1. Hacksaw. If possible, it is better to use a jigsaw instead.
  2. Screwdriver.
  3. Electric drill.
  4. Hand cutter or machine. If you don't have them, you can do without them.
  5. Tape measure and ruler for measurements.
  6. Square.

After preparing all the tools and materials, you can begin assembling your homemade table. Some craftsmen use old dining and kitchen tables for this. But you shouldn’t count on great durability of such products. It’s better to do everything yourself, “from scratch.” This way you can assemble a comfortable table that fully meets your needs and requirements.

Step-by-step instructions for assembling the table

Table of circular saw made of steel plate.

First you need to form the tabletop. Take a plywood sheet and make markings. The edges of the sheet should match the two edges of the lid. Cut out the workpiece with a hacksaw or jigsaw. If desired, process the cuts with a router. This is optional, so you can skip this step. In the case of a circular saw table, reliability is more important than good looks. Roughly sand the countertop using sandpaper.

At the bottom, prepare a slot for the disk. Measure the circular saw blade. To make it as convenient as possible, remove the saw blade from the tool and simply circle the required part of the saw.

After completing the arrangement of the seat, try on the slab and make the required adjustments. Mark the slot locations for the saw blade and fasteners. If the disk must rise and fall, the table must be equipped with a pendulum mechanism. In this case, the shape of the slot should look like a truncated pyramid. The top of this kind of pyramid needs to be directed downwards. To make the frame of the lifting mechanism, it is better to use metal corners welded to each other.

Assembling the frame and installing the legs

Next you need to make markings for the transverse and longitudinal slats. In the case of such a table, they act as stiffeners. Do it from the wrong side. The planks are made from timber. You need to prepare 2 longitudinal ribs. Select the length based on the length of the tabletop. It is enough to simply subtract 8-10 cm from it on each side. There should also be 2 transverse strips.

As a result, the base of the leg will have a slightly larger area than the top.

The control elements of such a machine must be placed on the outside of the tabletop. Usually they are fixed on some table leg. Completing this step of the job requires some electrical installation skills. If they are absent, it is recommended to contact an appropriate specialist.

Thus, there is nothing difficult about assembling a table for a circular saw yourself. This does not require much time or money. You will spend much less on materials than on a ready-made factory table, and the quality of the product, if you follow the instructions, will be no worse. Good luck!
