Attaching blinds from below. How to attach vertical blinds from fabric slats with your own hands. Installation of cassette models

To save money, you can try installing blinds yourself. The work is not difficult, you just need to correctly mark the slope or frame, depending on where you need to secure the structure. You can use different ways to install such curtains; the choice is made based on the design features and dimensions.

Overview of types of curtains and blinds

Window design is selected for different objects a certain style and functionality. The lamellas in the structure can be positioned in different ways: vertically, horizontally.

Horizontal blinds

You can find different types of shutters: pleated, interframe, attic, bamboo roller shutters; roller shutters belong to the same group. Main distinguishing feature– horizontal lamellas. They can have different thicknesses, widths and function differently. Such structures can be attached to a slope, a frame, they are also installed on top of a window block or inside the frame. It all depends on the size of the windows and the preferences of the homeowner.

Design of horizontal models

Classic horizontal blinds can be safely installed in premises with a variety of purposes: offices, private housing, industrial sites, administrative, retail and educational facilities. These are universal designs that are found in various shades.

Vertical blinds

Such curtains are usually attached over windows, which is due to the design features: vertically oriented slats, most often made of woven material. There are two main types of such structures: floor-length or window-sill length.

General form and arrangement of vertical models

This is one of the reasons why such curtains are usually installed in private homes, apartments and offices. This type of blinds is installed using self-tapping screws. Exist Alternative option installations - to the ceiling surface.

Roller blinds

Window blinds in this design combine two types of curtains: classic fabric and horizontal plastic. They are equipped with a continuous sheet of different types of material, cover the double-glazed window, and, if necessary, rise by rolling into a roll.

Installation of roller blinds

Fastening of blinds of this type is carried out using self-tapping screws and brackets. You can hang them in various interiors.

Mounting options

Horizontal and vertical curtains are characterized by individual design features. Based on this, developed different methods fastenings:

Mount 1: On vertical structures

Mounting for vertical horizontal models to the wall

Vertical curtains can be mounted under the ceiling or over windows. Such blinds plastic windows Can't install without drilling.

Mount 2: On a horizontal view

As standard, structures with horizontally oriented slats are attached directly to the window sashes, to the upper slope. Horizontal blinds without drilling can be placed in any design only on the sashes of the window block.

Ms. can be mounted in a window opening, on the ceiling, wall, or on plastic window sashes

But the inter-frame analogue is created exclusively for installation in the space between window frames. There are also restrictions on installation to the upper slope; in particular, inter-frame and attic blinds are not attached this way. If you do the installation yourself, you must take into account design features products when choosing the installation method.

Preparation, taking measurements

The following tools will be useful: a screwdriver/screwdriver, a tape measure, a carpenter's pencil. In order for your curtains to function as efficiently as possible, you need to take the correct measurements. The structure should be located symmetrically relative to the glass unit.

If blinds are attached using adhesive tape without drilling, it is possible to correct errors. For analogues installed on brackets and screws, you need to mark as accurately as possible.

To fasten vertical curtains, it is enough to measure the dimensions of the window opening, the distance between the fastening points and the length to the bottom edge of the curtain. This will allow the structure to be correctly positioned relative to the level of the floor and window opening.

Horizontal blinds are often installed on the shutters, so the main measurements concern the double-glazed window: height, width of each glass. To these values add 2 cm along the top and bottom edges, 0.5 cm on the sides.

Installation of vertical blinds

Anyone can install such curtains with their own hands. If the blinds are short, they can be placed inside the window openings. Otherwise, installation is carried out on the wall or under the ceiling.

For error-free fastening, sequential instructions are given:

Step 1: Marking

The central point of the window opening is determined and correlated with the center of the blind cornice. You need to make marks along the edges of the structure with your own hands. Points for installing self-tapping screws are marked on both sides of the cornice closer to the center of the window block by about 5-6 mm.

Place the cornice against the wall so that the center of the cornice coincides with the center of the window, and make marks along the edges.

Step 2: We look at the level

At the same time, you need to evaluate whether the slats are positioned correctly. Their lower part should be 1-2 cm above the floor level. The same amount must be retreated during installation short curtains(up to the windowsill).

Step 3: Attaching the brackets

Dowels are installed in holes prepared in advance with your own hands. The brackets are secured, this is done using self-tapping screws. Next, special clips are installed on these elements.

Be careful when using the hammer drill when drilling for bracket fastenings, otherwise part of the wall may break off.

Step 4: Installation of slats and chain

A cornice is attached, into which all that remains is to insert the runners and hang the vertical slats directly on them. Finishing touch– fastening the chain.

The slats must be hung in the exact order in which they are folded in the package. Otherwise, the design of the blinds may be damaged.

Installation of horizontal

Guided by the markings made earlier, you can do the fastening yourself horizontal design. Instructions have been created for this:

  1. First you need to secure the upper fasteners. To do this, use a screwdriver to prepare holes that will allow you to install the brackets using self-tapping screws.
  2. Next, you need to hang the cornice, it is fastened until it clicks.
  3. Holes for lower mounts(corners) are drilled taking into account the dimensions of the thread retainer connecting the lamellas. Typically, the design of blinds requires holes to be made on the sides of the glass. Then the latch, which is connected to the lamella sheet, can be easily inserted into the corners.

Do-it-yourself installation must be done with the utmost care, otherwise the blinds will not function correctly.

Methods for attaching roller blinds

When deciding how to install blinds on a window, the first priority is to determine suitable method fastenings The roll structure is mounted both on self-tapping screws and with the help of an adhesive (adhesive tape, liquid nails).

2 ways to attach roller curtains to pvc window, on L-shaped brackets and tape

In the first case, the technology for installing vertical curtains is taken as a basis, since roller blinds suggest the need for fastening only in the upper part of the structure. To “plant” the structure on the adhesive, the surface of the windows is cleaned and degreased. This will improve the adhesion of materials.

This option is suitable for double frames. Installation of interframe plastic curtainsdifficult process and assumes the need to violate the integrity of the frame profile: holes (2 pcs.) are drilled to output the blinds control system (handle and cord).

They should be located at the top of the inner sash. The brackets are installed on the upper profile, the installation technology is taken as a basis horizontal blinds.

Basic tips for choosing:

  • Before purchasing a design, you need to clarify the composition of the kit, in particular, the presence of fasteners;
  • If the installation is easy to do yourself, then it is better to entrust the repair of curtains to a specialist;
  • Plastic is easier to care for;
  • It is not recommended to clean the new structure too often, as this will quickly wear off the protective coating.

For example, horizontal blinds can be positioned inside any in a convenient way. However, the most popular option is on top of the sash. The inter-frame structure is more difficult to install, and the vertical analogue can only be located above the window or under the ceiling due to its large dimensions.

Housewives do not always prefer curtains and tulle to decorate a window opening. Many of them replace the usual decor with blinds, which do an excellent job of regulating the level of sunlight entering the room. In addition, this interior element is an excellent decoration for the room and fits well into many interior styles. However, installation of these products requires certain skills. How to hang blinds on plastic windows yourself?

What types of blinds are there?

These practical decorative items can be made of aluminum, plastic, fabric, wood and even thick paper. There are these types of blinds:

  • Roller or roller blinds. Such products are made from fabric. They work on the principle of twisting the fabric onto a roller while lifting it up. Mini-blinds are installed on the plastic window sash itself using special fasteners. The decor can be mounted on straight or inclined windows. Shutters with blinds can be opened easily.

  • Vertical. In this case, the slats are arranged vertically and connected by a ribbon or chain at the bottom. They are mainly made of fabric or plastic. Vertical blinds are rarely mounted on a plastic window, because the elements of the mechanism are located very close to the glass, which makes their operation difficult. Most often, such products are installed on the upper slope, ceiling or above the window opening.

  • Horizontal. This version of blinds is most often used by designers when it is necessary to decorate a window opening in a practical and stylish way. The slats are located horizontally and are connected by a lace. For installation on a plastic window, special brackets are used.

  • Pleated blinds. The products are an accordion that is hung on a window or attached to a cornice. Pleated fabrics are made from thick fabric or special paper.

  • Day-night blinds- this is a successful alternation of transparent and matte lamellas located horizontally. Usually mounted on a window.

  • Roman curtains. One of the varieties of blinds, somewhat similar to pleated blinds. But when lowered, the blinds are a single piece without creases as in the pleated version. Such elements are made from fabric, bamboo, and straw.

There are also multi-texture blinds, which are vertical slats made of plastic that form intricate patterns when layered on top of each other. There are also protective products in this category, which are mounted outside and are designed to protect the window from external manifestations, sun, rain, wind, and intruders. Made from iron, plastic or wood.

How to choose the right model

First of all, you should focus on the design of the entire room. If the room is decorated, for example, in provencal style, then stingy vertical blinds“office” type will look out of place here. In this case the best option There will be Roman blinds or pleated blinds with a suitable print. But in a room decorated in a “minimal” style, a vertical model will look optimal.

Some more tips for choosing the best blinds:

  • We pay attention to where the products will be mounted: in the window opening, on the wall above the frame, on the frame itself, under the ceiling, separately on each sash. Depending on this, we choose the type of fastening.
  • We take measurements carefully. It is worth remembering that blinds placed behind the window should be 10-15 cm wider than the window opening.
  • We select the type of blinds - vertical or horizontal. The first option will lengthen the space, and the second will visually enlarge the window.
  • We choose the texture and material. Here you should focus on the style of the room and personal preferences.
  • Correct color scheme- the key to successful window decoration. There are several generally accepted design rules - if the room is decorated in dark colors, then the blinds on the windows should be light and vice versa. Horizontal blinds look better in the kitchen, and vertical fabric blinds in the bedroom.

After the right option The blinds have been selected, you need to start installing them.

DIY installation

Usually, special mounting materials are included with the product. We will consider the option of installing standard aluminum blinds horizontal type. The whole process is divided into several stages:

  1. Marking of fastenings. It must be carried out with an accuracy of one millimeter so that the blinds are positioned symmetrically.
  2. Drilling holes for screws. At this stage, holes with a diameter of up to 3 mm are made in the marked areas. It is enough to drill one at each corner.
  3. Installation of the fastening structure using self-tapping screws.
  4. Installation of blinds on mounting structures.

After this, you need to check the quality of the work.

It happens that it is impossible to drill a plastic window due to the design features. In this case, you can use super-resistant glue. You just need to glue it mounting structure To plastic frame window. All further actions are performed in the same way as when drilling.

Also, as part of a gentle installation method, you can use special plastic fastenings L-shaped as in the photo below, which maintain the integrity of the profile and ensure reliable fastening of the blinds. They are hooked onto the top of the window sash.

It is better to give preference to blinds produced by well-known brands so that the product lasts as long as possible. The adjustment mechanism should be as convenient as possible during operation, so it is important to take into account the features of the window opening and location window design. Turning the window handle should not have a mechanical effect on the blinds, otherwise they will quickly fail.

It is necessary to regularly care for the blinds, avoiding their thorough contamination, as this can negatively affect not only the aesthetic qualities, but also render the mechanism of the product unusable.

Using our instructions, you can quickly and easily install blinds on plastic windows without the help of specialists.

If you have bought or ordered vertical or horizontal blinds, then we suggest that you install them yourself, because you can cope with this task even without experience, the main thing is to have the desire, 1 hour of free time and several tools.

Attention! Installing blinds does not require special skills, but keep in mind that any damage that occurs during the process independent work, will exclude the possibility warranty repair, exchange/return of curtains.

Depending on the type of curtains, your preferences and conditions, blinds are installed:

  • In the window opening;
  • On the wall;
  • To the ceiling;
  • On the window itself.

We made 3 step by step instructions and a selection useful videos, with which you can mount horizontal and vertical blinds of any kind in any way.

To install horizontal blinds on a wall or to the ceiling, as well as to install vertical blinds above a window, you need to prepare:

  1. Electric drill with concrete drill 6-8 mm;
  2. Self-tapping screws and dowels 6-8 mm;
  3. Tape measure or ruler and level;
  4. Pencil;
  5. Phillips screwdriver or screwdriver;
  6. If it is necessary to shorten and cut curtains to width: a hacksaw, scissors, threads, needles.

Instructions for installing horizontal blinds on the wall/ceiling

To correctly install blinds to a wall or ceiling, you need to perform the following steps.

Step 1. Check the complete set of curtains and lay out all the parts on the work surface.

Make sure that the curtain kit includes: universal fasteners for blinds 2 pcs. (or standard brackets), screws, assembled blinds themselves. If you are installing blinds more than 2 m wide, then the set of fasteners should also include an intermediate fastener, which will fix the curtain in the middle, preventing it from sagging.

Step 2. We attach the curtains to the wall/ceiling, determine the exact location of their installation and mark the left and right edges of the curtain rod using a tape measure and level. Next, from each mark (towards the sides from the center) we make an indent of 2-3 cm and also put marks - these are places for installing fasteners-brackets.

Step 3. Now we apply the right and left fasteners to these marks and mark the exact drilling locations directly along the screw holes. We drill these marks with a drill. The drilling depth should be 3-4 cm.

Step 5. If you are installing blinds more than 2 m wide, then at this stage you need to install intermediate fasteners. To do this, mark the middle between the already installed fasteners and repeat the steps from steps 3 and 4.

Tip: to ensure reliable installation of heavy aluminum, bamboo and wooden curtains, intermediate fasteners are installed 10 cm from the adjusting thread, since this place bears a large load.

Step 6. Insert and close the top cornice of the blinds into the bracket locks. If these are standard brackets, then the cornice is simply screwed to them with screws.

Instructions for installing horizontal blinds in a window opening

To install horizontal blinds in a window opening, you need to do the following work.

Make sure that the blinds are supplied with: fasteners for blinds (brackets) 2 pcs., screws, the blinds themselves in assembled form.

Step 2. We try on the curtains to the desired place in the window niche and check whether the blinds interfere with opening.

Step 3. Now we apply the right and left fasteners to the upper inner plane of the window niche, stepping back from its walls 2-3 cm towards the center, then make marks in the locations of the fastener holes. This way you will have 2 marks on the right and 2 marks on the left.

Step 4. Now we drill holes along these marks with a drill. The drilling depth should be 3-4 cm.

Step 5. We screw the right and left fasteners (in accordance with the sides and marks) to the upper plane of the window opening using self-tapping screws.

Step 6. Insert and close the top curtain rod into the bracket locks by simply turning and/or pressing the lever clockwise. If you use regular brackets for fastening, then the blind cornice is simply screwed on.

Instructions for installing vertical blinds to the ceiling/wall and in the window opening

Installing vertical blinds with your own hands involves the following steps:

Step 1. Check the package and lay out all the parts on the work surface.

The set of vertical blinds includes: fasteners for blinds (brackets) 2 pcs., screws, cornice, curtains themselves in disassembled form (slats with weights, lower connecting chain).

Step 2. Before installing the blinds, you need to make sure that their length suits you. To do this, attach one lamella to the desired location on the ceiling/wall/top plane of the window opening. If the distance from the bottom of the curtains to the window sill or floor is less than 1-2 cm, then it is better to shorten the slats. You can do this yourself: take out the weights, cut off the excess and hem the edges back.

Step 3. Now you need to attach the cornice to the ceiling/wall of the window opening, align and mark its right and left ends.

Then we do the following:

  • If you are installing vertical blinds to the ceiling, then from the previously placed marks we make an indent of 2-3 cm towards the center and put the marks again;
  • If you want to install blinds to the wall, then from the previously placed marks we make an indent of 5-6 cm towards the center and also place marks.

If you are installing curtains in a window opening, then you do not need to mark the ends of the cornice; you just need to make marks, stepping back from the walls of the opening 2-3 cm towards the center.

Next, we apply fasteners for the blinds to these marks and mark the drilling locations. This way you will have 2 marks on the right and 2 marks on the left. Be sure to apply fasteners to match the sides.

Note: to install curtains with a width of more than 1.6 m, you need to additionally install an intermediate fastener 10 cm from the adjusting cord.

Step 4. Now we drill holes along these marks with a drill. The drilling depth should be 4-5 cm.

Step 5. Screw the right and left fasteners (in accordance with the sides and marks) to the ceiling/wall with self-tapping screws.

Step 6. Insert and close the blind curtain rod into the fastener locks by turning and/or pressing the lever clockwise. If you use regular brackets for fastening, then the cornice is simply screwed to them.

Step 7. By adjusting the cord, we turn the runners so that they unfold across the cornice (as shown below in the left photo) and proceed to attach the slats, simply snapping them into the grooves of the runners.

Step 8. Attach the bottom chain to the lamella weights, first from their outer side, then cut off the excess and do the same with reverse side lamellas, and then with the second part of the lamellas. Well, that’s all, the installation of vertical blinds is complete, all that remains is to check the operation of the mechanism and adjust the position of the slats.

Below is a video instruction on how to properly install vertical blinds to the wall with your own hands.

Try removing the tulle and curtains - and you will see how empty the room becomes. Nowadays they create a large number of curtain options. It's about not just about fabric. Today, blinds are very often used as curtains. They perfectly protect the house from sun rays and a curious look. These products are easy to install and dismantle. However, some face certain problems: not everyone knows how to install blinds on plastic windows. In this article we will try to understand this in detail.

Kinds

To create coziness, there are more than 10 types of blinds: vertical and horizontal, roller and pleated, attic and interframe, for arches and bay windows, Roman blinds and multi-textured, electric and protective (roller blinds), photo blinds.

Blinds can be wooden, bamboo, metal (aluminium), fabric, plastic, paper.

Ease of use, reliability in operation, affordable price, light-protective properties have led to the fact that horizontal blinds have become one of the most popular types. They are used in the design of windows and other openings (in the most different rooms). But most often they are used for windows, and in modern world– for plastic options.

Installation features of cassette models

If the owner installs the blinds himself, the manufacturer often refuses warranty obligations. There are quite clear explanations: due to incorrect installation, the shutters may simply not work, which means that the curtains will be unusable. In addition, if installed incorrectly, the glass itself and/or the frame can be damaged.

If you are not confident in your own abilities, then it is better to contact a specialist.

If you decide to do everything yourself, firstly, you need to determine the methods of fastening. Secondly (depending on the chosen method) – purchase blinds. Thirdly, it is necessary to prepare tools and materials.

Mounting methods

There are several mounting methods (depending on the window opening):

  • If window hole need to be visually enlarged, then the cassette can be attached to the wall above the opening. The block itself can be much wider window opening, and the height of the structure is much higher than the frame itself. By appearance these can be full curtains;
  • If the window opening is wide enough, the window sill is used as an additional (for example, flower) shelf, then in this case the cassette can be attached to the upper slope of the opening - similar to installation on the ceiling. In this case, the window will visually look larger, and on the windowsill, by closing the blinds, you can hide important objects from prying eyes. In addition, with this mounting, the flowers will not be in eternal shade;
  • If the window itself is large enough and does not require visual magnification (or the window sill is narrow), then the blinds can be attached to a fixed window frame, to an opening sash, to glazing.

Necessary materials

Having decided on the method of fastening, you should next prepare necessary tools, among which:

  • Roulette. Its length should be sufficient to measure the width and height of the window opening in one step. If you independently report the dimensions of future blinds to the manufacturer, you need to take measurements based on the chosen mounting method. If the cassette will be mounted on the frame itself, then the width of the lamellas (plates) should be 2-3 cm less than it. Otherwise, the blades of individual cassettes will interfere with each other. If you still make a mistake with the dimensions, then keep in mind that even metal lamellas (plates) can be carefully trimmed with ordinary scissors on both sides - to maintain symmetry;
  • Marker or pencil for marking;
  • Phillips screwdrivers and (or) screwdriver;
  • Drill or hammer drill - for attaching to a wall or ceiling;
  • Dowels, screws and brackets;
  • PVA glue or liquid nails - in case the hole is larger than the dowel and needs to be more securely fixed in the wall or ceiling;
  • Pliers;
  • Hammer;
  • Plumb line (for example, from a thread and a bolt);
  • A level that helps to position the structure correctly;
  • Stepladder or work table (chair).

So, the blinds are ready and unpacked. Everything you need is also prepared. It's time to start strengthening by considering various ways fastenings

How to hang it on the wall correctly?

When planning to make markings for brackets on the wall, you need to assemble the blinds, following the instructions:

  • At a distance of approximately 15 cm from the edges of the product, you need to mark the places for fastenings. Do this using a tape measure and a level.

  • The bracket should not be located at the location where the clamp is attached or at the location of the control system, otherwise it will interfere with the operation of the blinds. The distance between the brackets should be no more than 60 cm. As a rule, the width of the cassette block does not exceed 2.2 m. If the window is large, then several panels of blinds are made. The rule remains the same in any case: the wider the block, the more brackets will be required for secure fastening.

  • After installing the brackets, you need to push the latch forward. Carefully (slightly tilting it towards the wall) insert the upper cornice under the bracket latch, press it firmly against the wall and turn the latch all the way to the left by 90 degrees.

  • The lamellas are rotated to the “open-closed” position using the control knob included in the kit. The length of the handle should not exceed 2/3 of the length of the blade. If the handle is longer, then you need to remove it from the frame, open the protective cap, saw off the excess length, put the cap back on and hang it on the frame.

How to attach it to the ceiling yourself?

The principle of attaching a cassette model to the ceiling or the upper slope of a window opening is the same as when attaching it to a wall. Differences will be observed in the way the brackets are installed. When installing the bracket to a wall, horizontal holes are used, and when attaching to the ceiling or upper slope, vertical holes are used.

The technology is as follows:

  • Using a tape measure, determine the center of the window opening and make markings symmetrically (relative to the center). When you are going to attach the brackets, attach the cassette with the blinds and check how they work: whether the canvases interfere with each other and the free movement of the cords, or if they touch the opening.

  • Then connect the marks and check the levelness with a level. Using a drill or hammer drill, drill holes: for a self-tapping screw with a 2.5 mm drill, for a dowel - depending on the plastic part.
  • When planning to fasten the brackets, check again with a level that the cassette is positioned correctly. All that remains is to fix the brackets, fasten the cornice by turning the latch to the left 90 degrees and insert the plugs. If you attached the cornice with the canvas, this means that the job is done. If not, then all that remains is to attach the canvas.

Sash mounting

The cassette unit can be attached directly to the frame using self-tapping screws, violating the integrity of the window frame. But you can attach the blinds without drilling.

If you decide to use self-tapping screws, then their length should not exceed 10 mm, so as not to pierce window frame through and not to break the tightness of the window unit. After marking and attaching the brackets with self-tapping screws, you need to attach the blinds in the manner described earlier (insert the curtain rod, turn the latch to the left).

How to attach vertical aluminum blinds to the sash of a plastic window using drilling, you can find out further.

Install without drilling

If you decide to do without self-tapping screws and violating the integrity of the glass unit, then you can use double-sided tape or brackets - clamps. Moreover, you can attach the cassette with tape both to the frame itself and to the window sash. But brackets can only be used on sashes.

Using double-sided tape

Scotch tape must be used for construction work, not for paper. This type of tape is not sold in office supply stores. You need to look for it in building materials stores and auto stores.

There are two options for installing blinds with tape:

  • glue the tape directly onto the cassette and glue it to the window (sash);
  • Glue the clamp brackets to the tape, and then attach the cassettes to them.

In any case, when using tape as a material for attaching blinds, you must adhere to the following instructions:

  1. This type of work must be carried out in the warm season; the double-glazed window should not be cold or covered with condensation.
  2. It is necessary to wash the frame or glass, dry the mounting area and wipe it with acetone or solvent.
  3. Make markings using a pencil, cassette, level; in this case, the line must be strictly parallel to the window sill so that a skewed gap does not form below. If the window sill itself is located on a slope, then you need to focus on the level and plumb line, otherwise the slats (blind plates) will interfere with each other when closing. Their functionality will be impaired.
  4. Take off protective film from the tape and carefully glue it strictly along the intended line.
  5. Attach the canvas if it was not attached initially.

Using bracket clamps

Bracket clamps are very convenient for window sashes. They produce several versions of such clamps (plastic and metal), but they are all very easy to use. You can use them according to the following simple instructions:

  1. When assembling the cornice, you need to fasten the canvas and assemble it. You can fasten the canvas at the end of the installation work.
  2. Try the clamp on the cornice and check the functionality of the block.
  3. Depending on the specific model of the clamp, open the window sash and snap the clamp (the upper edge of the window sash). You can first disconnect the curtain rod and clamps, snap them onto the sash - and then attach the curtain rod to the clamp.
  4. Some models of clamps are equipped with stops that need to be secured to the curtain rod.
  5. Install the clips with magnets on the bottom of the window sash.
  6. Fasten the canvas if you have not done so before.
  7. Attach magnets to the bottom strip of the blind block and the clamps on the sash.

How to remove blinds?

Since there are quite a lot of models of blind cassettes, there are also many ways to remove them.

If your blinds are mounted on twist brackets, they can be removed by turning the latch to the right 90 degrees, while holding them. After turning, the cornice weakens; its upper edge needs to be slightly tilted towards the wall. The cassette comes out of the slots, the blinds are removed. Depending on the purpose for which you are removing the blinds, the canvas can be pre-assembled or left unraveled.

If the blinds are made in the form of a full-fledged curtain rod, then you need to very carefully (but with a little force) remove the top decorative strip. Below it is the curtain mechanism. Gather the canvas from bottom to top. Lift the blinds up and to the right, removing them from their grooves.

From the video below you can learn how to independently remove horizontal blinds from removable latches-fasteners.

Just 10-20 years ago there was no choice of window coverings - only massive curtains and curtains were hung on the windows. Progress does not stand still, and in last years new species appear window curtains. The most popular now are blinds. In apartments you can often see a combination of blinds + Roman blinds and blinds + curtain. This method of curtaining protects the home from the sun, street noise and can decorate the window. Increasingly, instead of heavy curtains and blinds, compact roller blinds and blinds are used in everyday life. They fit much better with metal-plastic window frames. They are used in both offices and residential premises.

Types of blinds

Designers bring to life a variety of solutions that have no analogues. There are the following types of blinds:

  • plastic;
  • wooden;
  • fabric.

Installing blinds on a plastic window is a job that requires preparation. The installation process will depend on the type and shape of this product. Note that blinds are classified according to their shape:

  1. Horizontal.
  2. Vertical.
  3. Rolled.

Horizontal ones are most suitable for living spaces. They do not take up space under the windows and can be mounted both inside and outside the sash. Can be combined with curtains different sizes and styles.

Vertical blinds look better in office premises. Their peculiarity is that they can be attached directly to the ceiling. They can visually increase the space and are suitable for rooms with low ceilings.

Roller blinds have a wide palette of colors and can decorate any room. Made from fabric, they are easiest to clean from dust and dirt. There are several ways to attach them.

In the CIS, you can most often find blinds made in China, Belarus and Russia in stores. Since the majority of the population has plastic windows, especially in cities, it is necessary to study information on how to install them correctly. Let's consider several options for how to attach them to windows with your own hands, so as not to damage the window structures.

Standard installation of blinds on plastic windows

Blinds can be attached different ways. It can be:

When purchasing, instructions are included on how to hang blinds on plastic windows yourself. Mostly advice is given on how to install them by drilling windows. In this case, the fastening is carried out to the window frame above the double-glazed window. You need to carefully study the instructions and carefully take measurements.

Installation of blinds is carried out in the following ways:

  • into the opening of a plastic window;
  • onlay;
  • for each half of the window separately.

Important! Before purchasing blinds for two window halves, make sure that the lifting mechanism is on the left and on the right side. Otherwise, the cords from different halves will interfere with each other.

Installing blinds on windows using drilling is not suitable if you plan to change the type of curtain. After drilling, marks will remain on the window profile, and this will be noticeable. Blinds are attached with screws, and at the moment this is the most reliable look fastenings

Let's take a closer look at how to hang horizontal blinds on windows. The process can be divided into the following stages:

  1. We retreat 5-6 cm on both sides and mark the location for attaching the blinds. At this stage, you need to measure the distance very accurately, since if there is an error of even a couple of millimeters, your blinds will hang askew and will soon fail.
  2. We make holes for the brackets with a screwdriver, paying attention to whether the window sash will open or not. If the window will open, then the hole is made in the upper part of the window sash; if it is blind, then on the outside.
  3. After inserting the blinds into the brackets, just snap them into place.
  4. On the side of the sash you need to make a hole for the latch.
  5. Check how the mechanism works and whether it is comfortable for you.

Vertical blinds are a little easier to install; the following procedures should be followed:

  1. We make markings for the brackets, retreating 10 cm from the edge of the cornice.
  2. We drill holes and insert dowels into them. After this we fix the brackets.
  3. We install the fasteners together with the slats on the cornice.
  4. We assemble the runners, fasten them into the canvas, and then attach weights to the bottom of the slats.
  5. You can check the operation of vertical blinds.

The brackets can be glued with double-sided tape if you do not want to spoil the window profile. If after drilling the window there are excess holes left, they can always be removed with acrylic sealant.

If you purchased roller blinds, you can use another installation method to install them.

The fasteners must be marked symmetrically on all sides. When installed inside a window opening, our design should not reach 3 cm. When installed on top of the window, it should protrude no more than 5 cm at the edges. The height should be 3-4 cm higher. It is necessary to ensure that the blinds do not extend beyond the boundaries of the glass.

It happens that the mounting plates do not fit tightly to the window profile. In this case, special pads are used, which, depending on the gap, are used in different quantities - from one to four pieces.

You need to measure the height and width of the window along the light opening to the edge sealing rubber bands. Then measure the depth of the bead from the glass to the outer surface of the profile. It is necessary to take into account the presence of window fittings so that they do not interfere with the operation of the blinds. If you take incorrect measurements, unnecessary sunlight will shine through the cracks in the blinds.

To attach horizontal blinds made of plastic, the Holis and Magnum system is used.

Before installing blinds, you need to prepare window openings. They must be smooth and clean. Ideally, they need to be degreased.
