Good day, dear forum users. I decided to present to the public a small craft in the garden.
I decided to hang a hammock for my wife’s birthday, especially since she had wanted one for a long time. The option is to stretch the compartment between the house and the willow tree at once - the flower garden gets in the way.
I thought about digging the pillars into the ground at an angle to a depth of 1.5-2 m, but then I abandoned this option - the layout of the site is not final, and then you can’t move the hammock. I rummaged through the Internet and settled on a portable frame for a hammock, as the most simple version. I’ll admit right away that I honestly looked at the assembly option on the Internet and did almost the same thing.

So, it was required:
Beam 75x100x6000 2 pcs
Beam 100x100x3000 1 piece
Hooks 10x80 2 pcs

Capercaillie 8x18 6 pcs.

The 75x100 timber was sawn in half into 4 pieces of 3m each.
The 100x100 timber was sawn into two pieces of 1.5 m each (in the first photos it has not been sawn off yet, I’ll tell you the final dimensions right away).
The entire beam was cleaned using a grinder and a 40mm wheel, the edges were rounded.

Then I started trying on the design. Two pieces of 100x100x1500 are used as supports along the edges; two crossbars of 75x100x3000 are placed on the narrow side of them. Immediately placed a third piece between the crossbars to mark lines on the support beam and cut out small indentations. Subsequently, the middle beam is sawn in half and forms oblique beams onto which the hammock clings.

The next two photos show that cross beam 3cm deep recesses were made (hacksaw + chisel) for the crossbars.
Next, we stack the two crossbars on top of each other and, at a distance of approximately 20-30 cm from the edge, drill through them with a long pen at 10 (later all the holes were drilled with this pen). We bait it with a handy rod (one of the capercaillie is quite suitable), and drill similar holes on the other side. We place the crossbars on the support beam in the recesses, trying to ensure that the holes do not move, and drill the crossbars vertically at the intersection with the support beam. We drill to the support beam, drill it another centimeter or two, and then bait it with wood grouse. We mark ourselves on the timber so that later during assembly we don’t have to worry about aligning the holes and remove the cross members.
We saw the central beam in half, we get pieces of about 1.5 m each (I got 1.6 m each, and that’s good, we don’t need too short ones). We drill holes in them at a distance of ~10cm from the ends, in the center. We put together a pie of crossbars and main pieces, connect them with a pin, and tighten the bolts. We place the structure on the support beam and tighten the bolts more tightly.

The result is this preliminary version. The inclination of the main beams is approximately 70 degrees.

Initially, I didn’t know how best to make stops for the main beams. There are two options - jibs towards the center or a column from the edges. I decided to make jibs.
We saw off the bars 1m at a time, and at a distance of half a meter from the holes for the main beams, we drill more holes for the jibs. By the way, for the future - if you plan at once, then all 4 holes on the crossbars can be drilled at once, it’s more convenient. I improvised on the fly, so I disassembled and reassembled the design twenty times, applied it, drilled it literally on the fly, but everything fit together, fortunately.
We apply the jibs to the main beams, mark an oblique cut and make it. Further, opposite the point where the oblique cut is pressed against the main beam, we drill a hole in the beam for the capercaillie. The capercaillie will pass through the beam and screw into the miter, pulling the jib towards the beam. This wood grouse is not in the next photo, but can be seen on the finished structure.

Wrap the narrow side of the fabric around the thick slats and sew by hand or machine. Insert a short rope into the free holes in the top rail of the hammock and tie each of them with a strong knot near the rail. In the same way, tie two long ropes to the bottom rail.

Then tie all four ropes to the third thick batten. Make two more holes in it for the rope, insert it, tie it and hang the chair by some hook or thick branch.

This hammock looks more impressive, but it will take a lot of cord to make.

What do you need

• drill;
• 3 thick wooden slats approximately 80 cm long;
• 2 thin wooden slats approximately 90 cm long;
• nails or screws;
• hammer or screwdriver;
• 2 thick strong ropes approximately 1.5 m long;
• 3 thick strong ropes approximately 2.5 m long.
• 16 braided cords 8–9 m long.

How to do

Make it exactly the same wooden frame, as for a fabric hammock chair. You can immediately tie ropes to it and connect it to the third rail, to which the frame will be suspended. This is also done in the same way as in the previous method.

But the seat itself will be woven from cords. Fold each of them in half and tie it to the top rail of the hammock (if you immediately connected the structure to the third rail, then the rail you need will be in the middle). Then you can weave a chair in the same way as a regular hammock made using the macrame technique. But you can make a more original pattern.

When you tie all the cords to the rail, you will have 32 cords hanging down. Take four of them and place the first cord under the last one.

Place the last cord under the middle two and pass it through the loop. To finish the knot, repeat the same steps again. Then make knots from the remaining cords in the same way.

In the second row and in all even rows, repeat the knot, starting from the third cord from the beginning, and in odd rows - from the first cord.
