How to make a can of spray paint. We make an aerosol can with our own hands. When is it necessary to fill the dye into the container?

Today we will teach you how to make an aerosol can with your own hands from available materials. This process is not as labor-intensive as it might seem at first glance.

So, the tools you will need are: stationery knife, drill and bits, saw and bicycle pump. As for the materials for manufacturing directly, these are: bicycle inner tube, rubber-based glue, empty plastic bottle, empty spray can and paint.

Well, shall we get started?

Step 1.

First you need to release the remaining pressure from the empty can. This will protect you from its possible explosion. This can be done by releasing all the air from it. After this, you need to saw off the tip of the can and get its base, as well as the glass ball.

Step 2.

Next, we cut off the inflation tube from the bicycle tube and glue it close to the base of the plastic bottle. And yes, don't forget to drill a small hole where you glue this tube! Rubber-based glue is excellent for these purposes.

Step 3.

Now we need to make a nozzle. To do this, we drill a hole in the bottle cap that is suitable for the tip of the can with a straw, which we received by completing the first step. Glue will also help to secure it.

Step 4.

It's time to pour the paint. To do this, you can use a homemade paper funnel. IMPORTANT! Need to mix oil paint with oil, and acrylic with acrylic. You should not mix oil paint with acrylic paint!

Step 5.

And now our canister needs pressure. For this we use a bicycle pump.

So, if you did everything correctly, then with the help of this simple invention you can create at least something like this:

A spray bottle is an indispensable thing for household. Painting a car, doing repairs, or whitewashing trees is much easier if you have a sprayer on hand. In pneumatic it is split into small particles under the influence of air. An electric spray gun operates without the use of air - the coloring agent is forcefully thrown out through the pressure generated by the electric motor. If you don’t have a spray gun at home, you can make a spray gun yourself, and simple models require only 15-20 minutes of manufacturing time.
To make a spray gun with your own hands, you will need a spray gun and a little time

Making a spray gun

You can assemble a paint sprayer using available materials. Depending on the model you choose, you will need a plastic bottle or a ballpoint pen, a vacuum cleaner or an empty deodorant can. For various purposes, your own version of the sprayer is selected. Homemade work which uses your own breath, is suitable for painting small surfaces. To assemble a quality one with your own hands, you will have to use more complex models. Let's start making sprayers with simple designs, gradually complicating the process.

Option number 1: making a spray bottle from a ballpoint pen

A hand sprayer made from a regular pen is used for painting small parts. The quality of the spray depends on the accuracy of the assembly. For this model you will need:

  • Ballpoint pen and refill
  • Paint container – a bottle or glass jar with a wide neck will do.
  • Wine cork
  • Syringe
  • Glue, alcohol, toothpick

To assemble a spray bottle with your own hands, you need to disassemble ballpoint pen and cut off the tapered end of the body - this will increase the diameter of the hole. The paste is blown out of the rod with a syringe, then the tube is washed with alcohol. To do this, the nose of the syringe is heated and expanded with a toothpick.

From wine cork a corner is cut out - about a quarter. Holes of the same diameter as the rod are drilled in the center of the base of the cork and in the cap of the bottle. Perpendicular to this hole, a hole is drilled horizontally in the thin wall of the plug for the handle body. The empty rod and handle body are inserted into the holes and exited perpendicularly with minimal clearance.

The rod is inserted into the cap of the bottle, onto which the cork is glued. The small spray gun is ready - now you just need to blow into the handle body to start spraying the paint. You cannot repaint the entire car with this device, but spot painting will be quick and economical.

“Mini spray guns for painting cars can be made using a wine cork instead of wooden block, textolite, polystyrene foam and even plasticine, if you don’t have anything at hand”

Option No. 2: making a spray bottle with a pistol

To make the sprayer more convenient to hold, a pistol is made. Can be used regular plywood. A tube with a diameter of 4 mm is bent in an L-shape. One end of it is connected to the vacuum cleaner, on the other there is a thread for the machined one. In one piece of plywood in the shape of a gun, a recess is made for the tube, the second remains flat. This is how the handle is assembled.

A tube with a diameter of 2 mm is inserted into a glass container through an adapter. You can take a brass plug socket. A holder for the tank is cut out of sheet steel - a bracket with ears for attaching to a gun and a hole for the neck of the jar. Another homemade spray gun for painting a car is ready.

Option number 3: making a spray bottle from a plastic bottle

This hand-held spray gun for cars is made from a plastic bottle with the ability to pump air pressure with a pump. It is necessary to prepare some parts and tools in advance:

  1. Plastic bottle 0.5 liter or larger
  2. Automotive nipple
  3. Old aerosol paint can
  4. Glue, auto sealant
  5. Pump

You can make a spray gun at home from these materials as follows:

  • Cut off the top of the can so that only the paint sprayer and the tube from it remain
  • Make a hole in the bottle cap for the straw
  • At a distance of 3 cm from the plug, burn a hole for the car nipple and insert it from the inside. Seal the hole with auto sealant
  • Pour in the strained paint, screw on the cap with the sprayer

The spray gun for painting a car with your own hands is ready. All that remains is to connect it to the pump and pump up the air - just make 10 movements. When using a hand sprayer, it is necessary to strain the paint as thoroughly as possible to prevent the sprayer from clogging.

Option No. 4: making a spray bottle from an aerosol can

There is nothing difficult about making a spray gun from a spray can with your own hands. The most important thing is to follow safety precautions.

Method A

You will need:

  • Seamless deodorant can with protruding spray pin
  • Syringe
  • Vinyl tube with the diameter of a syringe nozzle

A few simple manipulations will help you make your own spray paint:

  1. Remove the plastic top from the deodorant
  2. Place the vinyl tube over the syringe nozzle.
  3. Cut the vinyl so that it fits halfway over the sprayer sticking out of the can - the valve should fit inside freely
  4. Filling of paint into a spray can is carried out at the rate of no more than 1/2 of the aerosol volume
  5. Without removing the vinyl tube from the syringe, draw paint with it
  6. Place the can on a hard surface, put the free end of the vinyl on the valve, press it with the nose of the syringe and pour in the liquid - this is the fastest way to fill the can with paint, repeating the procedure several times

Now you need to create pressure inside the can, that is, pump air into it.

Before pumping air, be sure to place the cylinder in a bag made of thick fabric - if it ruptures, all the contents will remain in the bag, and your hands will not be injured.

No more than 3 atmospheres are pumped into the can. The protective tip from the syringe needle is used as an adapter. By pressing the valve into the can, you will open the air from the compressor. If the process goes well, the paint inside will begin to gurgle. As a last resort, you can pump air with a syringe, but this will take a lot of time.

All that remains is to put on the button from the valve. To keep your hands clean while working, you can purchase a special attachment - a spray paint gun.

Method B

If the can that is selected for the sprayer does not have a protruding valve, then you can fill the can with paint yourself as follows. For this you will need:

  • Ball inflation needle
  • Pen refill cleared of paste (diameter 3 mm)
  • Big syringe
  • Paint can without spray pin
  • Pump or compressor

To fill an aerosol can with your own hands, cut 2 cm from the rod and place it on a needle to inflate the ball - the device will be needed to pump air into the can. Place a 3 cm piece of the rod on the syringe. Take the button from the can and remove it from it rubber compressor, which stands at the spraying site. Place the button back on the can, insert a syringe filled with paint into the hole, press the button and push the paint into the can. Insert a needle with an adapter from the rod into the same hole, press the button, pump in air. Paint volume – 50%, air pressure – no more than 3 atmospheres.

Method C - making a reusable canister

To make a reusable spray bottle with your own hands from a can with the ability to quickly pump air, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • Spray paint
  • Automotive nipple
  • Soldering iron, hammer, piece of wood

The essence of this design is to insert a nipple into the bottom of the can to pump air. You can make this type of paint sprayer at home as follows:

  1. Clean the nipple from rubber
  2. Tin the bottom of the can in the center and the nipple
  3. Drill a hole in the bottom the diameter of a nipple
  4. Carefully drive the nipple into the hole through a piece of wood so as not to damage the edge, solder it
  5. Pour cleaning solvent into the bottle, place it in a tight fabric bag, pump air through the nipple - no more than 3 atmospheres and test the sprayer

This is how a reusable paint can is made, which is used for applying coloring compounds.

Option No. 5: making a sprayer with a compressor

It is very difficult to blow into a tube from under a pen for a long time to paint a car part. It's better to make electric spray gun with your own hands with automatic air supply. A vacuum cleaner or compressor from an old refrigerator is suitable for its manufacture.

Method A - use a vacuum cleaner

If a Soviet vacuum cleaner remains on the household, then it already has an air blowing function. You can make a spray bottle with your own hands from a vacuum cleaner like this:

  1. Remove the filters from the vacuum cleaner and thoroughly clean it of dust.
  2. Wrap the connections with tape to reduce air leakage and therefore make the pressure constant
  3. Connect the blowing hose to the spray gun

If the vacuum cleaner does not have a blowing function, then you can get it without touching the inside of the device. To do this, take a thick plastic garbage bag the size of a vacuum cleaner and find another hose. You can make a spray bottle with a compressor as follows:

  • Take out the dust container
  • Place a plastic bag over the vacuum cleaner and tightly tape the edges of the bag around the area where the hose comes out.
  • Make a small hole in the opposite corner, insert the second hose into it, tightly wrap the connection with tape
  • Make a hole for the wire, wrap it with tape

In such a vacuum cleaner, the original hose sucks in air, and the additional hose blows it out.

Method B - using a compressor from a refrigerator

Since the operation of the compressor is intermittent, a receiver will be required. It will dampen pressure drops. You can make it from:

  1. Empty fire extinguisher with a volume of 5 l
  2. Empty gas cylinder
  3. Car wheel
  4. Two pipes that simultaneously serve as a stand for the compressor

Using a compressor from a refrigerator, you can make a high-quality spray gun

Each of these receivers equalizes the air pressure and uniformly supplies it to the spray gun. Let's look at how to make a receiver from a car wheel:

  • Take a stamped tubeless wheel
  • Install an additional nipple in it
  • Connect the compressor through the nipple with nipple
  • Route the hose to the sprayer through the nipple without a nipple

To paint a car with a compressor from a refrigerator and a receiver, it will help to paint individual parts of the car.

Accessories

When making a spray gun and working with it, you must follow safety precautions. For example, you can make a respirator with your own hands. A stand for the sprayer will also be very convenient.

Making a respirator

To make a respirator at home, you will need the following materials:

  1. Large plastic bottle with flat bottom
  2. A plastic tube (5-6 cm) that can be placed over the neck of a bottle
  3. A stopper that can be used to plug a pipe from the inside
  4. Cotton wool, gauze
  5. Activated carbon – 4 tablets
  6. Hot glue, scissors, lighter

Manufacturing stages:

  • Cut a 13-15 cm piece from the bottom of the bottle, drill a lot of holes in the bottom, and make a curly cutout for the nose on the cut. Burn the edges with a lighter. Try on the design to make it comfortable
  • Cut off the neck and two centimeters of the bottle from the top - this will be the cap for the bottom. Apply glue to its diameter and place it on the bottom with holes.
  • Insert cotton through the neck to close the holes.
  • Apply glue to the plug and insert it into the tube. When the glue is dry, drill more holes in the cork.
  • On inner side put folded gauze, add crushed 2 tablets of coal, cover with cotton wool. Pour in 2 more charcoal tablets and cover with folded gauze. Try how to breathe
  • Place a tube with a filter on the neck of the bottle, glue
  • Wrap all joints with electrical tape, make fastening rubber bands

Making a holder for a spray gun

The simplest stand for a spray gun with your own hands is made from a sheet of plywood 10 mm thick. A square of 25*25 cm is cut out of it, in which a circle is cut out with a diameter slightly smaller than that of the paint container. A gun is inserted into a groove sawn from the edge of the workpiece to the hole. The stand is installed on legs. Their height is selected so that there is room for the hose.

WATCH VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS

Paint sprayers are made at home from various available materials. The use of such tools is associated with health risks, so they must be made and used in compliance with safety precautions. The quality of the painting result often depends on the accuracy of the assembly of a particular model.

Don’t rush to throw away your deodorant can; you can refill it with another substance and even paint. To do this we will need a larger medical syringe, a vinyl tube and a small compressor or pump.

If you need to fill the paint into a spray can, you need to dilute it to liquid state. Depending on how much the deodorant canister is designed for, and it is usually 150 milliliters, then you can fill it no more than 2/3 of the volume of the deodorant canister, no more than 100 milliliters.

We prepare the syringe; to do this, remove the needle and put on a vinyl tube instead, cut it off, leaving 4mm uncovered. We fill the syringe with paint, remove the spray nozzle from the can and place the tip of the vinyl tube of the syringe onto the tube of the aerosol can.

We press the connected syringe with the can onto the valve and at the same time inject paint into it. After you pour 100 milliliters of paint into the can, take the safety cap from the medical needle, one side is thicker, insert it into the compressor or pump hose, securing it with a clamp or twisted wire, and pierce a hole in the closed end of the cap with an awl, but do not destroy the side at this end.

We wrap the cylinder in a strong cloth bag or place it in a strong pipe for safety. Turn on the compressor and press closed end cap, with a hole, into the valve of the cylinder (that side on the cap, which I wrote about above, will help us with this). When inflating, press on the valve tube. Air fills the container with air, creating pressure in it and gurgling will be heard in it, this air passing through the paint fills the container, creating pressure.

At the same time, keep an eye on the pressure gauge and although in the factory the cylinder is inflated to 4 kg/cm2, it is better to roll up no more than 2.5 kg/cm2 in order not to take risks, especially since you can pump up the cylinder at any time. The cylinder is ready for reuse.

To a person without experience, it may seem that using a spray can is very simple. Indeed, a simple, everyday matter, what could be complicated about it? You need to press on the valve and after that the composition will immediately begin to spray - beautifully and evenly, over the surface on which it is needed.

Alas, in reality everything is completely different. Moreover, you need to carefully prepare for painting a particular surface with a spray can - this is also important.

If you do otherwise, the resulting layer may lie poorly (or even not at all), or the paint will peel off very quickly. The result of such work: wasted money, a damaged surface.

Simply put, it’s worth talking in detail about how to spray paint correctly so that the result turns out great (this tool can have an impact on).

Why paint correctly

If you need to paint a bench, a stool, some kind of children's toy or other not very large thing, there are no special problems. But the situation changes dramatically when you want to apply paint to a car/bicycle or some large building.

What can I say?:

  • Painting a car completely with a spray paint is quite possible. However, experts advise contacting a car service - the costs will be approximately comparable;
  • One more point: since there is a lot of work, it is not easy to maintain a decent level of quality and a beginner can make mistakes. It is better to let professionals perform such responsible work.
Spray painting is an ideal option in situations where some fragmentary repairs are needed (for example, if you need to restore the aesthetic appearance of a bumper or carefully decorate serious scratches).

Little things to remember

To put it bluntly, the process of painting with a balloon is not so difficult - there will not be any special problems here. Another thing to consider is to prepare the surface correctly. It is worth acting step by step, systematically, only with this approach you can achieve an ideal result.

As an example, let’s look at working with cars, since these are the most pressing tasks today; spray cans are used everywhere for automotive repairs.

Details:

  • It is known that automotive compounds can dry very quickly. As a rule, the result is ready within an hour. But the coloring itself must be done carefully and carefully - haste is simply unacceptable here;
  • In accordance with the instructions, you must first carry out painting work preparatory work, aimed at the room itself. They usually paint in boxes, garages, sometimes they work directly on outdoors- This is fine. The main thing is if you decide to work under open air, do this not on a sunny day, or in calm weather;
  • Lighting – important aspect spray painting. It must be good. Perfect option– uniform lighting work surface. The bright sun is not suitable for this, nor are the spotlights - let them be directed exactly where they need to be.
It's all about the glare - they will definitely interfere with the master and mislead him. The perfect solution– luminous flux that will be diffused. Fluorescent lamps are recommended for use.

How they work:

  1. First, the room should be vacuumed. It is worth doing this work conscientiously, because the quality of the future result depends precisely on the thoroughness of the cleaning - it is much more pleasant to be clean;
  2. There are some tricks: floors, for example, are usually moistened with water (but not too much so that there are no puddles). When water is applied, there will be much less dust;
  3. It is better to refrain from using fans - they will only complicate the work. Operating temperature – from 15 to 25 degrees. It is these indicators that are ideal if you need to paint with a spray can;
  4. It was already said earlier that work must be carried out step by step. That is, you need to apply the next layer of paint or primer only when the previous one has already dried. If in the box where spray painting is carried out, heat, a film may appear on the paint. Most often, there is still damp paint hidden under it - because of this, a shagreen effect occurs (there is such a possibility);
  5. One more nuance: when asked how to properly spray paint, experienced people recommend dismantling the part to which the composition will be applied and working with it individually. If there is a car in the box, it should be protected with a cover or fenced off with a special screen to avoid unpleasant incidents;
  6. The personal safety of the master is also an important aspect. Enamels and varnishes for cars are toxic and quite harmful to human health, which is no secret. Accordingly, before painting you should have goggles, a respirator, overalls and gloves on hand.

Painting different surfaces - a review of technologies

If we talk about painting technologies, then in the automotive field it is customary to distinguish two basic areas: repair of plastic surfaces (torpedo, bumper, etc.), as well as repair of a metal body (fragmentary).

About working with plastic

Using the example of a car bumper, the process of painting plastic elements of a car will be considered. The first step is to remove this product from the car.

Interesting fact: experts recommend degreasing the surface after any procedure performed. The composition for such work is selected depending on what material the base is made of. Degreasing of plastic and metal is often performed by different means(and they are not interchangeable).

And now in detail:

  • The area that is damaged is thoroughly cleaned - emery cloth will help with this. If you work with plastic, you can limit yourself to P220 grit. When the treatment is completed, the bumper is washed again, then dried and wiped special means– anti-silicone (you can choose something else, similar);
  • Any chips, as well as deep scratches, are usually repaired with specialized putty designed for plastic. However, if you don’t have anything like this at hand, you can be content with traditional car putty - this is what many people do today. The composition is prepared in certain proportions: 1 to 50. One part here is the hardener, 50 is the putty. All work is carried out with the utmost care, but you must act quickly. It’s just that the putty hardens within 20 minutes - you need to keep it up to this point;
  • The surface is cleaned again after the putty has dried - again used for this sandpaper. Of course, it is better to use here grinding wheel, but not everyone has it at hand. For convenience, it is recommended to fix the paper on a block. The main point of the work: the transition between the putty surface and the original coating must be ideal, the border should not be determined by touch.

  • Now it's time to degrease the part that is being repaired. Wipe carefully, first with a damp cloth, then with a dry one. It is worth using lint-free wipes;
  • Next, you need to start priming. The soil is chosen to be specialized - specifically for plastic products. In any department where car cosmetics are sold, you can buy an excellent quick-drying one-component composition, which comes in aerosol cans. Apply two layers of it to achieve the desired result;
  • When everything is dry, you need to apply developing powder to the defective area and sand again. However, this time everything is done wet. You should act carefully so that the primer is not erased - otherwise you will have to apply the primer again. The surface is treated with a matting film at the finishing stage;
  • Now they degrease again - and now comes the most interesting part: painting from a can. At least two or three layers are applied; the master must wait until the previous layer dries before starting on a new one. Finally, the bumper is varnished several times.
It is worth varnishing the entire bumper, not just the damaged area - so that the transition is not visible visually.

How to paint metal elements

Details:

  1. First of all, you should understand: the master needs to choose the right shade of the composition, the right one. The color can also be selected according to the markings (which are on the can), but everything is not so simple. The fact is that the color differs (often slightly) from different manufacturers. However, over time, the body coating may slightly change the initial shade. The ideal way to solve the problem is to simply seek help from service center– here they are guaranteed to help you choose the right composition. In addition, using special equipment you can pump the necessary paint into a can. The cost of repairs in this situation will be slightly higher, but the tone is guaranteed to match;
  2. Next, the car needs to be washed. For this they use warm water. Afterwards, the car is wiped down - anti-silicone and some kind of rags are used here. It is recommended to cover all areas that will not be painted with polyethylene or thick paper (for securing, masking tape is used, which is applied around the perimeter of the protected areas);
  3. At the defective area, the rust (as well as the space around it) is thoroughly cleaned - sandpaper will help with this. Of course, after such treatment the gloss will be erased and the surface will take on a matte appearance. The master must now apply a special degreasing compound - and you can begin to putty (everything is almost the same as when processing plastic).
What if the damage to the body is too significant? In this case, you need to use putty that contains fiberglass. Such material will not only help level out the defect, but also reinforce the surface as reliably as possible.

  • There is no need to cover everything at once - they are applied in several layers (each of which is thin), the directions must be alternated, otherwise peeling may occur;
  • It is not recommended to add too much hardener to the putty. This composition will dry quickly, but will lose elasticity. That is, even a slight deformation and cracks will make themselves known (or even everything will begin to crumble);
  • The surface that has been puttied needs to be cleaned - sandpaper is traditionally used for this. But when working with metal, you cannot do without various abrasives. There is a use for both coarse grain and grinding paste - any master should know about this. Of course, degreasing is performed after each of the procedures - it is absolutely impossible without this;
  • The area with the defect, as when working with plastic, is covered with a special primer. They do this several times. Afterwards grinding is carried out - for this purpose a matting composition is used. At the end, everything is wiped with an antistatic agent and degreasing is performed again;
  • Now it's time to spray paint. Before doing this, the container must be shaken thoroughly. It is best when the valve has a flat nozzle (rather than a round one). These valves (with a flat nozzle) are good because they are equipped with a narrowly directed spray pattern - this has a beneficial effect on the result.
It is not so important how you spray paint metal - from top to bottom or vice versa. The main thing is that the composition should be applied to the surface evenly; you should not linger in one place, because this may cause drips.
  • If you carefully read the instructions, you can find out the following: the distance from the valve to the surface should be approximately 20-35 cm. This is quite a lot - any specialist will confirm. Each master chooses this interval individually (on average, 15 cm is enough). The paint is applied in at least three layers, then the varnish is applied in two layers.

About refilling a spray can with paint

Many people are interested in how to make a can of spray paint. Some people are concerned about this topic not so much because of economic considerations, but because the compositions from different containers often differ from each other. In addition, you can also refill varnish, primer, and not just paint, which is very practical.

  • The first step is to select the can itself for subsequent refilling. Solid containers are ideal for this. Just those containers that are not assembled in a factory (with welded seams, from different parts), especially if the pressure is created by a compressor, it is dangerous to use. Such a product can easily rupture;
  • When the container is selected, you need to remove the valve. Next, you need to take a simple medical syringe, large capacity. No needle needed. The composition must be drawn into the syringe;
  • The size of the balloon inlet and the syringe outlet diameter are almost identical. The function of an adapter can easily be performed by a flexible plastic tube (a product 10 mm long is sufficient);
  • The required composition is drawn into a syringe, then it is connected to the outlet of the cylinder through an adapter. All you have to do is press the valve and the liquid is pumped into the container - nothing complicated;
  • You can create pressure different ways. The most practical is to use a factory compressor, which is also equipped with a pressure gauge. But if there is no such product, you can adapt a bicycle pump or limit yourself to the same syringe. It is also worth remembering about safety: it is recommended to put the cylinder in a tarpaulin cover;
  • Another product is already used as an adapter here. It can be obtained from the syringe needle cap. The open edge is fixed to the pump hose, a hole is made in the sealed one - this is what you need to press against the cylinder, and everything will definitely work out.

Before filling a can with paint, you should make sure that the substance being filled has the same composition, the same base as the composition that was there before. A simple example: nothing good will come of it if you pour car paint into deodorant (solvent in in this case It will corrode all gaskets without any problems.
  • If the container previously contained paint of a different color, you can do this: first pump in the solvent. This will help get rid of any residue from the container.

conclusions:

It's time to take stock. Based on the above material, it is clear to anyone: painting with a spray can is easy, there is nothing difficult here.

The difficulty lies in competent preparation surfaces, is to create optimal working conditions.

The work can be reduced in cost if you use rechargeable cylinders. A video about this is recommended for everyone to watch: how experienced craftsmen, as well as for beginners.

The main thing is to follow the advice, then the result will be of high quality and there will be no difficulties in the process.

An interesting solution for coating is paints produced in spray cans. With their help you can evenly paint the surface. Thanks to aerosol spraying, the consumption of paint and varnish material is not very large, and markings on the product help facilitate the selection of the required tone. You can even refill the paint into a spray can yourself. The presence of marking codes is very important when, for example, a car body is partially repaired or restored.

But this factory-made form of production is much more expensive than conventional dyes, and it is not always possible to select the desired tone among the finished products. What to do in this case? You can fill the can with something you purchased or tinted with your own hands. the right paint yourself, or you can turn to the services of specialists, and then enjoy all the benefits of fine spraying.

Advantages of aerosol dye application

Usage paint and varnish materials, released in finished containers with a spray, provides a number of advantages:

  1. Saving material. All the paint released from the can will fall directly onto the surface being painted, and will not remain on the roller, brush or other painting tool.
  2. Quick preparation for use. This paint does not need to be diluted before use and poured into a container for convenient use. It is enough to shake the dye container for 5 seconds so that the balls in it ensure mixing of the solution, and you can spray the coating onto the surface.
  3. Possibility of dosed use due to the difference in the force of pressing the sprayer. When painting small scratches and cracks, just lightly press the spray button.
  4. Possibility to carry out partial restoration repairs by spraying coloring composition to damaged areas. With the right color scheme, after drying the surface will appear evenly painted.
  5. Even the most difficult to reach places can be easily painted.
  6. No special painting skills are required; even an amateur can handle the job.
  7. The remaining paint in the can does not require quick use; in such a container, it will retain its original qualities for a long time.
  8. Convenient for storage and transportation: the container is sealed, dyes will not spill out of it and will not stain the floor.

In such containers, dyes of various compositions and qualities are produced; they can be used on wood, metal, glass, and concrete; apply for external or interior works. Selecting the right color will not be difficult.

When is it necessary to fill the dye into the container?

This must be done in the following cases:

  • tinted paint remains, and it must be preserved for a long time;
  • color selection among finished aerosol products is impossible (for example, a complex color or such a dye simply does not exist).

You can pump paint into a spray bottle by contacting a specialized company, where they will quickly fill the required container using a vacuum unit. But such refilling is quite expensive, and if immediate use is intended, then you can pump the paint into the container yourself.

How to refill a cylinder yourself

Filling paint solutions into a spray can can easily be done with your own hands.

Of course, it will not provide such complete filling as with vacuum pumping with a special installation, but it is simple and cheap.

The cylinder can be used repeatedly.

Required tools:

  1. An empty can of deodorant or paint. If a container is used after dyes, then you need to fill in a solution of the same quality (for example, after acrylics - acrylic, after alkyds - alkyd). Wrong selection paint and varnish components can lead to a “chemical conflict” that will affect the quality of the coating.
  2. Paint for refilling. Any one will do - purchased in a store or tinted yourself with the necessary selection of shades.
  3. A large medical syringe without a needle: with its help the paint will be pumped into the container. To more effectively release the safety valve, you can put a broken needle on it.
  4. Bicycle nipple (can be cut from a worn-out inner tube).
  5. Pump (car or bicycle).
  6. Pressure gauge.

Operating procedure:

  1. Remove the cap and spray nozzle from the can.
  2. Draw the coloring solution into the syringe, insert it into the container until it stops, pressing the safety valve.
  3. Pour the dye into a container.
  4. Repeat the filling procedure until the container is approximately 2/3 full.
  5. If you used a deodorant container, you need to add 3-5 metal balls there. Balls from worn-out bicycle bearings are quite suitable for this purpose.
  6. The remainder of the container must be filled with pressurized air, otherwise the sprayer will not work. To do this, insert the bicycle nipple tightly, squeezing the safety balloon valve.
  7. Connect the pump to the nipple and, while pumping, create a pressure of up to 3-5 atmospheres. If you do less, you won’t get a full spray; if you do more, the container may not be able to withstand the load.
  8. After inflating, remove the nipple and replace the cap with the sprayer.
  9. Now you need to shake the can a little, stirring the coloring solution, and check its operation. For this purpose, release a small portion of the dispersed mixture onto an unnecessary board or other surface.
