How to make a spinner yourself at home. DIY: Do-it-yourself spinner and what is a spinner? How to make a spinner widget at home

All are filled with photographs of all kinds of spinners. social media, so there is no problem with the question of what it is. Moreover, this rotating thing has become a trend in 2017, and the variety of their types, options and capabilities will not leave anyone indifferent.

There are turntables in different price categories from 29 rubles to several hundred thousand, but it is becoming increasingly popular to make them yourself. It’s more interesting and cheaper, and “your own” toy is also unique and unusual. How to make a spinner at home - read this article.

What is it and why?

A spinner is an original fashionable anti-stress toy, also called a hand spinner and a spinner. Its design and mechanism of action are simple: in the center there is a bearing made of metal or ceramic, and around there are several blades or weights.

True, now toys are being modernized with all their might, experimenting with colors, materials, shapes, speakers, and even integrating a Bluetooth system for synchronization with a smartphone. Glow-in-the-dark spinners have also become widespread.

Both ordinary adults and psychologists argue about the functionality and benefits of spinning gizmos. No consensus has yet been reached, but the majority is inclined to believe that spinners have the following positive characteristics:

  • Calms in stressful situations;
  • Helps you concentrate;
  • Develops children's motor skills;
  • Copes with nervous and mental stress;
  • Becomes an excellent alternative to bad habits;
  • Creates a desire to collect and collect;
  • Promotes communication skills.

The danger of modern toys lies in its ever-growing popularity, as schoolchildren begin to invent and implement quite extreme tricks for the sake of spectacular videos. Also, turntables can distract from studying and develop unhealthy competition.

However, if a child or adult is inspired by the idea of creating a spinner with their own hands, then we can only talk about its undoubted benefits. After all, motor skills will definitely develop in the process, logical thinking, and imagination and creativity will reach a new level.

Instructions on how to make a spinner with your own hands

Mentally, the entire process of creating a spinner can be divided into four stages: thinking through the design of the toy, drawing up a drawing and diagram, preparing necessary materials and direct work on the product.

Each stage is important, so let's look at them in more detail.

Step 1 – Thinking through the model

Here you need to decide what your future spinner will be: classic or unusual, paper, plastic or iron, simple or complex, and so on.

Based on this, an algorithm for further actions will be built.

Step 2 – Making a drawing

You can’t rely on the eye, so it’s better to display your imagination on cardboard and remember your drawing skills.

If working with pencil and paper is not your thing, then take the easy route and look for ready-made diagrams on the Internet, print out the one you like and start preparing materials.

Step 3 – Gathering everything you need

The materials from which you can build a spinner are amazing in their diversity, which allows you to choose the most suitable option. So, the basis can be paper, cardboard, electrical tape, chips, coins, solid wood, the children's designer or soda caps.

“Tools” will help you turn your fantasy into reality:

  • Bearings;
  • Scissors or stationery knife;
  • Pen, pencil or felt-tip pen;
  • Adhesive suitable for the type of material;
  • Decorations (rhinestones, gouache, stickers, etc.);
  • Tools for working with wood (centimeter, hacksaw, jigsaw, chisel, sandpaper, drill, etc.)

The bearing can be removed from an old skateboard, bicycle, non-functioning equipment ( washing machine, printer, fan) or buy it in a store, where its price usually varies between 20-50 rubles. The diameter of the part is proportional to the size of the future toy, and a value of 2 cm is considered universal.

It is important to properly prepare the materials in order to enhance the capabilities of the product. Thus, store-bought bearings should be freed from factory grease, since it is harmful to the toy: it stains your hands and slows down its rotation.

Removing foreign deposits is simple: remove the dust rings, fill the bearings with gasoline in an unnecessary container and leave them in the liquid for several minutes, during which it is recommended to shake them.

Step 4 - Let's get started

When the choice is made and the tools are collected, you can get to work. Below are the simplest and lightest designs of spinners, after understanding the structure of which, it will not be difficult to improve the technique with other materials.

Note!

Paper spinner

In the simplest model of a turntable, the bearings are replaced with an axle, and the solid body is replaced with paper or cardboard. Making a paper spinner is easy and quick:

  1. Prepare two paper squares 15x15 cm (better different colors), a toothpick and cap-clips from a pen cap;
  2. Fold each square in half, then bend their corners diagonally;
  3. Place two parts on top of each other so that they are perpendicular
  4. Fold the triangles inward as follows: first the right one, then the top one, then the left one, and fold the bottom one under the very first one;
  5. Pierce the middle with a toothpick, widening the hole by 1 mm;
  6. Secure the rod with clamps on both sides of the axle and cut off the excess ends.

Cardboard spinner

Fidget spinners without bearings also include cardboard products. For a three-bladed model, we make a drawing of four circles in the shape of a triangle on cardboard, cut out two copies, as well as four smaller circles. On one half we place coins of suitable diameter and glue them, and secure the upper part on top.

Using nail scissors, we make a hole in the structure and similarly in two small circles.

We insert a 1 cm plastic rod into one of the circles ballpoint pen, fix it with glue, insert the rod into the spinner and close it with the second circle. We secure the remaining third and fourth circles on top.

Bearings and bottle caps

A more complicated version is a model assembled from covers from plastic bottles(from 4 to 7 depending on the number of blades) and four bearings.

Note!

You will also need tools: glue gun, drill, knife, sandpaper.

The technology looks like this:

  • We sand the corks using sandpaper to remove unevenness and roughness;
  • We cut a hole to match the bearing in the axial cover;
  • We place the remaining caps around the center at the same distance from each other (for greater accuracy, it is recommended to use additional caps or a paper drawing);
  • We glue the plugs together, not forgetting about the smooth transition between them and the central cover;
  • We insert the bearings into the remaining covers, fix them inside with a layer of glue;
  • We decorate and decorate the product.

Cleaning the spinner

Instead of making or buying a new spinner, you can always fix the old one.

Failure is usually of two types: damage to the housing and contamination of the bearing.

In the first case, any super glue will come to the rescue; you can clean the metal ball with WD-40 and alcohol, not forgetting to finally lubricate the bearing with synthetic oil. In general, you should adhere to the following algorithm:

  1. Disassemble a toy secured with threads by fixing the bottom part and unscrewing the top.
  2. If the lid is fastened with magnets, then you should pick up the top with a thin object through the visible joint and lift it.
  3. Release the bearing by easily removing the plastic or metal barrier.
  4. If the part is secured with sealant, then there is no need to peel it off and take it out. In such cases, the entire housing is cleaned using isopropyl alcohol.
  5. Pour the cleaner onto the balls and swirl them with a toothpick or match to distribute the liquid completely and evenly.
  6. Rinse the bearing and leave to dry, preventing lint and dust from getting inside. You can use a hairdryer.
  7. Lubricate the part with one drop of oil.

Anyone can make a spinner at home, because its structure is clear and simple, and any available materials can serve as the body and rotating rod.

Note!

It’s better to start with paper models, gradually improving your skills, and who knows what functions and capabilities you will enrich your toy with over time?

Photos of modern spinners

Spinners entered mass fashion not so long ago, but in just a few months they won the hearts of not only adults, but also children. Today, spinners spin everywhere: on the street, at work, in the subway and even in kindergarten! And every child wants his toy to be somehow different from those that his peers already have. You can buy an original spinner, but such a toy is not cheap, and finding a unique spinner takes a lot of time. The best decision- make a spinner yourself.

So, we present to your attention a few simple ways how to make a spinner with your own hands from materials that everyone has at home.

1. How to make a spinner from plastic caps?

Materials: caps from any plastic bottles of the same size (4 pieces), plasticine, hot glue, nail, scissors, lighter and toothpick.

What do we have to do: put plasticine in 3 lids, use hot glue to seal the remaining space of the lids. Take the fourth lid (without plasticine) and make a hole in it, for example, with a heated nail. Glue the caps with sand to the one where you just made a hole. Take a glue stick and cut 2 small pieces (1 cm) from it. Break a toothpick in half and put a piece of glue on one end (make sure that the sharp tip of the toothpick does not stick out) and place it in the center of your future fidget spinner. WITH reverse side Place the remaining piece of glue stick on the tip of the toothpick. Your spinner is ready!

For more interesting looking, you can color the caps in different colors acrylic paints.

2. How to make a spinner from cardboard?

Materials: plastic bottle caps, cardboard, scissors, marker, awl or nail scissors, glue, 3 coins and a pen refill.

What do we have to do: Using the lids, draw 4 circles on the cardboard in the shape of your future spinner. After this, cut out 5 such blanks and glue them together, carefully gluing the edges. Next, cut out smaller circles. Using an awl or thin nail scissors make a hole in the center of the spinner. Glue 3 coins or any stickers on the sides of the blanks.

Next, take the set aside pen shaft and carefully cut 1 cm from it. Make small holes in the center on two small circles. Insert the cut piece from the handle shaft into one of the circles and glue it along the edges of the hole to securely fix it. Insert this circle into the center of your spinner and glue the second circle on the back side. The two remaining small circles can be glued on top of the ends of the rod. To make your spinner spin faster, place some kind of spacer between the spinner blank and the small circles (in our example we used metal pendants).

Ready! Let your child decorate his spinner as he wants, you can use glitter, stickers, rhinestones and other decorations.

3. How to make a spinner using bearings?

Materials: bearings (3 pcs), tie clamps, glue gun or superglue (for a more complex spinner).

What do we have to do: wrap cable ties around the bearings on all sides. Cut off the extra clamps and that's it - the spinner is ready!

To make it more bright and attractive, you can make the design more complex. Take 7 bearings, place 6 of them around the seventh. You will not use all 7 bearings, you will only need 3 circular and 1 central. You need the remaining bearings only for accurate measurements, so we will leave only those that form a triangle. Glue everything necessary details by using glue gun or superglue. The spinner is ready! Decorate the spinner as you wish. You can glue the fluffy wire, apply glue to the sides of the spinner and cover the edges with glitter.

Rest assured, no one else will have spinners like your child’s!

Good day to all. In this article I will tell you how to make a simple spinner toy. Everything is done very simply, and most of the materials can be obtained completely free of charge.

For this we need:

  • 5.45 shells (I picked mine up at a combat shooting range, although you can find them at any training range or order them online).
  • Bearing ABEC 5 (Ideally ABEC 7, was extracted from the wheel of an old skateboard, you can also find it in a car store or order it on AliExpress).
  • Wooden block (Any hard wood, specifically in this case - walnut).
  • Epoxy resin (To glue it all together is an ideal option).

Once everything is prepared, we begin production. Using a step drill, drill a hole of the required diameter for the bearing.

We clamp the sleeves into the drill chuck and at low speeds, leaning against sandpaper, we begin to sand them until the paint is completely removed.

Remove the boots from the bearing, clean it by generously spraying with WD-40
Next, coat the edges of the bearing with epoxy resin, press it into a block, and only after that drill the side holes for the sleeves.
This is done so that the block does not burst, because in my case the walls turned out to be a bit thin.

In the end, I decided to put the drill aside and widen the holes using an engraver under required diameter. We glue the sleeves together (still the same epoxy resin), we also coat the holes in the block with epoxy and press the sleeves in. We leave it all to dry for 6 hours and in the end we enjoy a simple toy made by ourselves.

The spinner is a fashion toy invented in the USA. It appeared in Russia in 2016 and has already gained extraordinary popularity. What is it? She is called a spinner, a spinner, a fidget.

It develops fine motor skills of the fingers, relieves anxiety and has an anti-stress effect. Fidget spinner is not only a toy designed to entertain children and adults. This is a great way to spend time waiting, traveling in public transport, and queuing. This turntable also allows you to get rid of bad habits, such as tapping your fingers on the table surface, repeating hand movements, and even the habit of smoking. Will allow you to get rid of bad habit twist something in your hands. The working principle of the fidget spinner is the use of a bearing in the middle of the product with petals.

The fitget has two, three, four, five, and some models even six petals. The most common are toys.
The spinner is made of wood, brass, bronze, plastic, and can be combined.

Two types of bearings are used: metal, like, or with ceramic balls. Characterized by rotation time. The spinner rotates from one minute to several tens of minutes. The longer the rotation occurs, the better the quality of the toy.
The cost of the product is affected by use quality materials in the manufacture of a body with petals. The easiest way to buy a spinner is in.

Making wood in a home workshop

However, a person familiar with tools can make such a toy for himself. For this you will need:
  1. A small piece of wood, preferably hardwood;
  2. Bearing (suitable for a broken skateboard);
  3. Sleeves or suitable pieces of round metal;
  4. Epoxy adhesive.

First of all, we mark out a piece of wood. A square piece is required.
We drill a hole in the center and expand it under external dimensions bearing. The thickness of the workpiece must be equal to the thickness of the bearing. The next step is to insert the bearing and glue it with glue.
On two opposite sides we drill two holes equal to the smaller diameter of the sleeves. Then we take the polished sleeves, glue them in pairs and mount them with glue in the prepared holes of the board. Let the glue dry.
We clean, sand and paint in the color you like. A simple spinner with two petals is made at home. In the same way, you can make a homemade gadget from plexiglass or PCB.
It is more difficult to make a product with three petals. To do this you will need a drawing, a jigsaw and a protractor. The diagram below clearly illustrates how to make such a toy.

Paper spinner

  • It is much easier to make a hand-held spinner from paper.
  • We print the drawing on a regular printer.
  • Transfer the drawing to thick paper or cardboard.
  • We cut out 15-20 samples according to the template. Using scissors, we make a hole for the bearing, slightly smaller than the outer diameter.
  • Glue the cut out samples with PVA glue.
  • Place under the press.
  • After the glue has dried, insert the bearing.
  • We clean it with scissors and, if necessary, sandpaper.
  • We paint in desired color. The toy is ready.

As you can see, the cost of the product consists mainly of own work, because Parts from out-of-circulation mechanisms were used for production.
Before assembling the gadget, inspect the bearing. To do this, remove the anthers and wash them. This completes the work on making the turntable.

Luminous

  1. The most interesting toys come from making them yourself from absolutely incredible materials. Make a glowing fitjet - all you need to do is buy a phosphor online in China.
  2. Dilute 3 grams of powder in 7 ml of glycerin to obtain a luminous liquid.
  3. Then you can use the described method for making the central part from wood. Just use glass flasks from fluorescent lamp starters instead of sleeves.
  4. We pump liquid into the flasks using a syringe and glue them into the prepared holes.
It turns out to be a beautiful toy that you can play with and surprise your friends in the dark.

Made from chocolate

Any material you can imagine is suitable for making a spinner. It can be made from wax, paraffin candles, ice and even made edible.
A very original gadget is made from chocolate.

I played and got tired of it and ate it.

To make such a toy you will need:

  • Make a mold for filling;
  • Bearing;
  • Candies such as confetti or jelly beans;
  • Cardboard, for form and glue;
  • Wax paper;
  • Scissors with pencil;
  • A piece of foil from a chocolate bar and the chocolate itself;
  • Glue.

Video showing how to make an edible chocolate spinner

  1. A drawing is taken from which the twist template is cut out. A strip slightly larger than the thickness of the bearing is cut out of paper and glued along the perimeter of the template.
  2. Then we completely wrap the prepared bearing in foil and place it in the center of our mold, having previously placed wax paper on the bottom of the mold. We place candies along the edges of the petals (you can do without candies, this is for beauty). All that remains is to dissolve the chocolate in a water bath.
  3. Once the chocolate becomes liquid, use it to pastry syringe poured into the mold. It is necessary to pour very carefully so as not to move the installed parts.
  4. After filling everything with chocolate, place the toy in the refrigerator. After some time, the chocolate will harden and can be removed from the refrigerator.
  5. All that remains is to remove the product from the mold, free the bearing from the foil, clean the edges - and you can use it. When you get tired of it, you just have to eat it.
  6. The entire manufacturing process can be filmed and shown to friends or posted on the Internet on your page.
  7. In a similar way, a fitget can be made at home from any hardening material: stearin, wax, gelatin, and from colored wax candles you will get a multi-colored spinner body.
They differ in the number and shape of the petals. The form can be completely different: from geometric shapes to exotic and futuristic forms. They differ in the use of bearings: one, three, four or no bearing at all. When choosing a spinner, follow these rules:
  • The gadget should rotate smoothly and without noticeable beats.
  • The quality of workmanship should not cause any complaints.
  • The material from which the toy is made must be of high quality.
  • The rotation is quite long: the longer the better.
Some users advise choosing products based on their preferences. If you like the item in terms of design, color, or manufacturing, buy it, but the rotation time is secondary.
So we see that no one can give an unambiguous recommendation. Focus on your own feelings. To ensure that the pinwheel serves for a long time and is always attractive, follow the recommendations:
Protect the toy from mechanical damage, falling from a height onto a hard surface;
If the product is made of plastic, it is not recommended to disassemble it, especially the button - it can be damaged plastic parts, they are glued or pressed very tightly;
Periodically wash and lubricate the middle bearing using a syringe with a needle. Wash with gasoline, preferably for lighters, it has almost no odor. It is recommended to lubricate with watch oil in small quantity. Mineral oils should not be used for lubrication.

The Rubik's cube is already a thing of the past. Today's kids are obsessed with pocket-sized toys that spin around. Children are so captivated by fidget spinners that some schools have already banned bringing them with them. On the other hand, toys help relieve stress and calm children who have a special temperament.

Fidget spinners are now collectible and have something of a status status. No child wants to show up at school without the most basic gaming device. If you're on a budget and want a great toy that really stands out from the crowd, there's an easy solution: you can make your own spinner.

There are a few in various ways make a spinner, for example, cut it out of cardboard or use old recycled lighters. However, if you try this at home, be aware that the fidget spinner may cause damage to your skin. With that said, there is simple methods. The choice is yours.

How to make a spinner using plastic bottle caps

To do this you need: 4 plastic caps, a box of cereal, a knife, super glue, a plastic mug, paint or glitter

Collect four bottle caps. Take four plastic lids from used bottles that have same size. Glue them together so that all sides meet the middle cap, and then bend the hole in the middle bottle cap with a toothpick.

The weight of the glue inside the caps. Some people prefer to stick pennies on inside caps for added weight, but household items such as magnets will work the same.

Replace bearings with paper. Place the bottle cap over the plastic cup and cut out a circle. Once the circle is cut out, punch a hole the size of a toothpick and place a plastic circle on the inside of the bottle cap to line the empty space. Then take a penny draw 10 circles on the box and cut them out.

Make sure all holes line up with each other; this will be an important step towards spinning the spinner correctly.

Glue the circles together. Stick your toothpick in each circle and glue the five cardboard circles together, lining up the small holes. Take two more penny circles and this time avoid punching a hole through them and glue each circle to one side of each five.

Attach all the parts together with glue. Take a toothpick and one stack of cardboard circles and glue the toothpick in the middle. Attach a toothpick to the center of the middle bottle cap and cut off the end. Leave a little toothpick on the opposite end and glue that end in the middle of another stack of cardboard circles to act as a bearing. Your spinner should now spin like the original.

Decorate your creation. Now that your spinner is almost ready, paint or adding some sparkle to your toy will complete the job.

How to make a spinner using skateboard bearings

Materials needed: plain bearings, knife, thick rubber band, super glue.

  1. Assemble three skateboard bearings. Take the three skateboard bearings you have chosen and align them together horizontally. Take the middle bearing and pull out the middle tread with a knife to expose the inside of the wheel.
  2. Glue them together. Glue the three bearings together in a straight line with super glue and wait until they dry.
  3. Cover with rubber band. Wrap a thick rubber band around the outside edge of the three support bearings for support, and decorate the rubber band if you want to add some character to your new toy.
  4. Can be done Alternative option spinner, which looks more like a traditional spinner. You need to assemble four skateboard bearings and follow all the same steps. The middle bearing will have an open wheel, and the other three should be glued proportionally, around the center.
  5. Once your feeder is complete, place thumb and your middle finger into the center of the toy and release the stress of life.

How to create a paper spinner

What do you need for this:

  • Cardboard.
  • Scissors.
  • Safety pin.
  • Toothpick.
  • Glue.
  • Stickers.
  1. Cut the cardboard into four small circles and one propeller shape.
  2. Poke holes in the center of each of the circles and the propeller using a pin or pointer.
  3. Apply a spot of glue to the back of one of the circles and insert a toothpick through the hole. Add a second circle to the toothpick and press the pieces of paper to seal the glue and attach the pieces to a toothpick.
  4. Add the propeller to the toothpick.
  5. Repeat step 3 with the remaining two circles, leaving about 1/4 inch between the first set of circles and this one (the propeller needs room to spin).
  6. Remove excess toothpick ends from spinner and decorate with stickers.
