With increased communication with Arab countries in the country essential oils are becoming fashion trend. In addition to fashion, essential oils have a wide range of beneficial properties. The active components of essential oils, entering the body through the air, have a healing effect. Of course, everything is individual, but essential oils can help in the treatment of respiratory tract infections, headaches, sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. In addition, a pleasant smell causes positive emotions, improves mood, increases performance and overcomes insomnia. Aromatherapy prevents and relieves fatigue, depression, anxiety, and, as a result, increases self-confidence. In addition, a couple of essential oils may be able to improve family relationships.
Traditional aroma lamps diffuse the aroma of essential oils using the heat of an open candle flame. Below is the design of a homemade aroma lamp. The aroma lamp, of course, does not pretend to be a work of art, but it is capable of spreading healing essential oils throughout the apartment. The source of heat will be a candle, which will additionally create the mood from the flickering of a candle in a darkened room.

How to make an aroma lamp with your own hands

1. As an evaporator we will use a cheap cocotte maker made from of stainless steel. But you can use other types of evaporators that are suitable in diameter.

2. The body of the aroma lamp is made of tin can height 114 mm and diameter 84 mm.

3. On the body of the aroma lamp, the places of cuts in the tin are marked with a permanent felt-tip pen. In the upper part there are holes for the release of candle combustion products. It is required to make 6-8 such holes. A large window is marked for installing and lighting a candle. If desired, you can apply decorative elements.

4. With a sharp knife with short blade CAREFULLY(watch your fingers) make cuts. In the upper part, first there are inclined vertical cuts, then horizontal ones.

5. Use an awl to pierce the corners of the window to install the candle and make cuts along the lines of the envelope.

6. If you wish, you can apply decorative elements by punching through the walls of the tin with an awl, read more about how to make homemade decoration.

7. CAREFULLY, it’s better to wear thick gloves, bend the tin of the window opening inside the can, then

we won't have any dangerous sharp edges.

8. It is better to bend the petals at the top and straighten them with long-nose pliers.

9. Do not remove the handle of the cocotte maker, but bend it upward.

10. Place the cocotte maker on top and achieve a stable position by bending the petals at the top of the jar.

11. The structure of the aroma lamp was assembled with your own hands, all that remains is to carry out tests.

12. A few rules for using an aroma lamp:

— there should be an open space on top of the lamp (we do not place it on closed shelves);

— the bottom can heat up from the candle, put a gasket so as not to damage the furniture;

— the lamp must be in a stable position, out of reach of children;

- the top of the lamp body becomes very hot during operation - there may be burns if touched incorrectly;

— there must be water in the evaporator at all times;

— under no circumstances should the water completely evaporate, it is better to add it periodically, the smell of burnt oil is not healing;

- the water temperature should not exceed 60-70°, in no case bring the water to a boil - strong heat destroys beneficial features essential oils, if this happens in your design, then you can install a small tin divider;

— before first use, fill the evaporator with water and check that the conditions are met.

13. Pour water into the evaporator and add a few drops of essential oil. To start, 1-4 drops. And under the evaporator we place a burning candle, which causes the essential oils to evaporate. The smell will only appear when the water is heated.
14. The effectiveness of the aroma lamp depends on the choice of essential oils. Each oil affects the human body in completely different ways, with some oils affecting men and women differently. Here are some generally accepted recommendations.

Morning and afternoon. In order to invigorate and tune in to activity, use essential oils of bergamot, rosemary, black pepper, and lemon and mint oils tone.

In the evening. To relax and relieve stress, use oils of tangerine, lavender, marjoram and lemon balm.

To prevent colds. Eucalyptus or tea tree oil scents.

Romantic meeting. Rose, lavender, cedarwood or patchouli oil.

To calm down. Rose oil, sandalwood oil, geranium, marjoram.

For headaches. Essential oils of rosemary and chamomile.

The proposed design of the aroma lamp can withstand temperature regime and the combustion of a candle does not lead to complete evaporation of water.

If everything works out and you decide practical question how to use an aroma lamp and what is it for, then if you want to improve the functionality and appearance of a homemade aroma lamp, feel free to solve the following question - where to buy an aroma lamp?

The work on creating an aroma lamp is creative. Here, as in any other matter, the easiest way is to repeat what others have already done. There are proven ways to scent the air in a room, and they work like a charm. But not all technical discoveries have been made and not all design features are known. Therefore, prepare your ideas and materials - let's create.

Aroma lamp - what is it?

An aroma lamp is a device for hot inhalations. In its simplest design, it is a solid body, where at the bottom there is a platform for placing a heat source: a candle or an alcohol lamp, and on top there is a bowl into which hot water is poured and oil is dripped. While the fire burns, healing compounds evaporate from the surface. The device is designed so that the water does not boil while the lamp is operating - if the temperature is too high, it changes natural composition essential oil, which is undesirable. You can repeat analogues of ready-made house models using clay, dough, metal and glass jars.

Why do you need such a device:

  • to sanitize the room. Essential oils almost all have bactericidal and antiviral properties;
  • How natural freshener and air flavoring. Essential oils have a very unobtrusive aroma - so sometimes people complain that their aroma lamp does not work. It's actually okay;
  • to prevent diseases and improve immunity;
  • for relaxation and mood improvement.

When essential oil components evaporate from the surface of the aroma lamp, they irritate the sensitive fiber of the olfactory nerve. The signal carried by essential oils enters the brain: namely, its most ancient system - the limbic system, which is responsible for our memories, desires and feelings, for the production of certain hormones and neurotransmitters. It is important to choose non-synthetic, non-adulterated oils for aromatherapy, which are mainly sold on the domestic market.

For information: the cost of 20% essential oils starts at 500 rubles. The aromatic extract is diluted in vegetable oil, which is much cheaper; the percentage of essential oil content is indicated on the packaging. The production of 100% natural professional oil is quite expensive - up to 1 ton of raw materials is processed to obtain 10 ml of ether. So a quality product will cost not 90 rubles or 200, but from 1000 to 5000 rubles.

Transmission of nerve impulses - commands to the body from the central nervous system- The process is electrochemical in nature. It proceeds normally and without failures when the brain assimilates organic compounds from natural essential oils. In response to the received signal, the body independently begins to produce the necessary hormones. The reaction to artificial information obtained with vapors of cheap pharmaceutical ethers can be unpredictable.

The aroma lamp should work no longer than 20–30 minutes, during which time all useful compounds will have time to evaporate from the surface of the water

Catalytic lamps

Catalytic lamps or Berger lamps work on a different principle: a composition is prepared from alcohol and essential oil diluted in it. The liquid is poured into a glass bottle - it is filled approximately two-thirds. The bottle is similar to the one in which eau de parfum is released. Only instead of a spray bottle on top there is a carved lampshade and a cap that covers the end of the wick placed inside. The cap and lampshade are removed before lighting the wick. Catalytic burner: made of ceramic and platinum, ignite it only for two minutes, then extinguish the flame. Cover the top of the bottle with a lampshade. To aromatize a room of 18–20 m2, 20 minutes is enough. The combustion process continues all this time, but takes place without fire and smoke, so there will be no trace of burning in the air. To put out the lamp, you need to remove the lampshade and replace the cap: it is important to check that it is pressed tightly against the body. You can put the lampshade back on top and move the lamp away from heat sources.

The combustion process in an aroma lamp with a catalytic burner does not leave a burning smell in the air

Electric aroma lamps

In electric aroma lamps, the oil reservoir is heated by a thermoblock, which is an incandescent lamp, so, in essence, the device is a small lamp, and the ability to heat oil on it is additional function. The lamp base is attached directly to the power supply, which is equipped with a Euro plug and an on/off button. A glass or ceramic case is placed on top with holes for air circulation and a recess on top where water and oil are poured. The power source in such a device can also be batteries.

USB lamps

A convenient option, especially for work, is to connect a heated USB platform to your laptop and use it for aromatherapy. True, the models produced do not yet differ in their varied design: a plastic body and a minimum of decor. Therefore, it also makes sense to copy the principle of the device to another case and adapt a convenient technical point view model for home.

A USB aroma lamp can be assembled at home based on any convenient body of a regular aroma lamp

Ultrasonic diffusers

Modern development for room aromatization - ultrasonic diffuser, which additionally ionizes and humidifies the air in the room. The device operates from a 120V network, so before use you need to either change the power supply and adapt the device to a 220V network, or use an adapter. The top part is removable, under the hood there is a water tank where you can pour a glass cold water and 5-6 drops of essential oil. Then the device is connected to the network and left for 6–8 hours. The vapor is cold, the liquid evaporates very slowly, so the aroma lasts almost all day. As a rule, the diffuser is also equipped with a variable backlight function.

An aroma diffuser usually has many additional effects - lighting, modes, a large water tank, and one of the disadvantages is the formation of condensation on the surface where the device stands

Safety precautions

You need to prepare for an aromatherapy session. Rinse the bowl where the oil is poured, check that outside there were no traces of the oil mixture - it is highly flammable. Heat the water in the kettle - only hot water can be poured into the tank, optimal temperature- 50–60 o. It is better to take unscented candles in metal tablets. By the way, the stands themselves can be reused later - they are comfortable, and on the bottom they have a ready-made clip for the wick.

Before the procedure, it is recommended to ventilate the room for 20–30 minutes. When you light the aroma lamp, close the door, windows and vents. Natural essential oil gives a very unobtrusive aroma - it won’t make you sick or dizzy and you won’t want to go outside. Fresh air. If such a desire nevertheless appears during the 10–15 minutes that the aroma lamp is running, you have low-quality oil. Find another use for it: for household purposes, for example, for washing clothes or cleaning the floor. Remember the dosage: for a room of 18–20 m2, 5–6 drops of oil or oil mixture are enough.

Do not place the aroma lamp on a surface made of plastic or foam; it is also undesirable to place the device on a table covered with a tablecloth or oilcloth. During operation, the lamp should not be near heating devices or open flames.

Do not leave the device unattended: the principle “you never know what can happen” has not been canceled, especially if you are dealing with a flammable mixture. Remember that small children and pets create an additional risk of fire - it is recommended to remove them from the room during the procedure. To aromatize a room, only 20, or at most 30 minutes are enough, because during this time the oil evaporates. Only diffusers can work for several hours, but there is cold steam and the evaporation process is much slower.

At the end of the procedure, extinguish the wick/unplug the device and wash the tank in a soapy solution, and then rinse clean water with vinegar. This way, next time you can use a different scent, and it won’t mix with the old one. Then wash the outside of the case and wipe dry.

Lamps that are cracked or otherwise damaged should be discarded.

Caution should be observed when operating aroma lamps due to fire safety

How to make an aroma lamp at home

  • The oil reservoir should be easy to clean;
  • bowl volume - no less than 30 ml (2 tbsp. l of water);
  • the distance from the fire to the bowl is 8–10 cm, so that the water is hot but does not boil away;
  • in devices that operate on electricity and USB, the bowl can be attached closely to the power source.

Made of metal

The materials, in general, are taken the same for several simple models:

  • a tin can, preferably narrow and elongated, like one for olives or beans;
  • marker;
  • construction knife;
  • candle/alcohol lamp;
  • container for oil (salt shaker, socket).

Method one.

It is assumed that the lid is already missing from your jar - it is not needed for the aroma lamp.

  1. Decide what your lamp will work on. The width of the opening for a candle and a spirit lamp is different. Estimate the width of the opening and mark a hemispherical outline with a marker.
  2. The bottom should be level with the bottom of the jar, the top so that the fingers can pass freely.
  3. Draw the same hemisphere on the opposite side of the can.
  4. Cut out both phalanges.
  5. Place a socket on top, fill it two-thirds full with hot water, and add oil.
  6. Light a candle/alcohol lamp and place it at the bottom of the jar.

Method two.

  1. It differs from the previous one in that the base will be an inverted tin can.
  2. Also mark the height along the phalanx of the fingers, draw an outline with a marker and cut holes along it on both sides so that the hand goes right through.
  3. It is not necessary to adjust the width - such a lamp does not have a bottom, you can light a candle and simply place the jar on top of it.
  4. When did they do it? side openings, turn the jar upside down and make it in the center round hole for fire.
  5. The bowl can be made from a glass from a flask, a reservoir from alcohol burner, glass salt shaker or socket.
  6. Pour in water and oil, light a candle/alcohol lamp and place it inside the jar.

Through holes are needed for air ventilation in the case

Method three.

The only materials you need are a beer can and 2.5 mm wire 20–25 cm long.

Method four.

You need a cut-off beer can or low tin can and a piece of wire 2.5 mm thick and 10–15 cm long. Any scrap of board will go into the base. For work you will need a drill and an awl.

  1. Drill a hole in the board to a depth of 1.5 cm.
  2. Bend the wire into an L shape and insert the long end into the drilled board.
  3. Make two symmetrical holes in the jar, pierce it with an awl and hang it on a wire.
  4. Pour water and oil into a bowl. Place a lit alcohol lamp on the board.

If the holes in the jar are loose and the bowl tilts, you need to press the edges more tightly to the wire

Method five.

What you will need:

  • 2 low sprat or sprat tins;
  • sheet of thick A4 paper;
  • spoke;
  • silicate glue;
  • linen or cotton threads.

How to assemble the structure:

  1. Cut the A4 sheet into 4 parts, twist each strip into a tube using a knitting needle. To make the paper curl more tightly, you can roll the knitting needle on the table.
  2. Glue the edge of the strip with silicate glue and iron the tube several more times on the table.
  3. Remove the knitting needle and do the same with the remaining three strips of paper. First wrap the paper tubes around the jar, which will serve as a bowl for water.
  4. Then place the structure on the second jar and fix the base tubes in the same way. Lubricate the threads both above and below silicate glue, so they will not be flammable.
  5. Now you can pour hot water into the top jar and place a lit candle in the bottom one.
  6. To make the oil evaporate longer, it is recommended to dilute it in an emulsifier - drop the oil into a teaspoon with salt, and then add it to water.

The support legs are made of paper, but if you coat the threads on which they are attached with silicate glue, the structure will be protected from fire

Method six.

The aroma lamp is a little more complex in design than previous models. To make it you need:

  • 2 beer cans;
  • small CD;
  • candle-tablet;
  • glue;
  • long scissors;
  • copper wire;
  • rubber feet for crafts.

What should be done:

  1. Cut off the bottom of one beer can and the neck of another.

    Cut off the bottom of one can, the top of another, any cans made of soft metal will do.

  2. Unfold the trimmed part into strips 7–8 mm wide, bend the strips at a right angle.

    The cut can will be used to make the evaporator wall

  3. Make a ring from a metal strip, equal in diameter to the can, and insert it into the part of the can with stripes. The ring will have to be covered with stripes. If they are too long, cut off the excess, but do not throw away the pieces of metal - they will be needed for decoration.

    The metal ring is wrapped around with ribbons to make the wall more dense

  4. Insert the bottom of the second cut can into the ring, bottom up. This will create an evaporator with a double bottom and an air gap - the oil will evaporate much more slowly than just in a tin can.

    When the second bottom is inserted into the ring, an air gap is formed: in this design, the oil evaporates more slowly

  5. Twist the scraps into spirals and decorate the wall of the structure. Decorative function They will also make rings made of wire - wrap them around the evaporator from above and below.

    Spirals made from scrap strips and wire around the perimeter of the can, as well as a metal lining on top, serve a decorative function

  6. Prepare the supporting structure by gluing the legs to the disk.

    Rubber feet add stability to the structure

  7. Install evaporator stands using wide strips of metal.

    Metal strips are bent several times and attached to the disk with glue

  8. Assemble the lamp body. Pour water and oil into the bowl and place a lit candle down.

    The metal legs of the case can also be decorated with metal spirals

From a glass jar

The aroma lamp made from a glass jar is somewhat reminiscent of a catalytic lamp, which looks like a bottle of perfume. A model made at home will look different, but will also decorate the interior.

Lamp with wick

What you need for the lamp:

  • transparent glass jar with a tight-fitting metal lid;
  • finished wick;
  • awl;
  • paraffin oil;
  • eco-materials (branches, cones, pine needles, dried flowers, berries and leaves).

Place pre-selected decorative elements - flowers, leaves, twigs - into a jar, pour in paraffin oil. Make a hole in the center of the lid in advance so that the wick can easily pass through. When all preparatory work completed, thread the wick under the lid, lower it somewhere to the middle of the jar, maybe even a little lower. The aroma lamp is ready. Do not use it for 24 hours; wait until the wick is saturated with oil. When burned, the aroma of fruits, herbs and spices will spread throughout the house. To enhance it, you can drop a few drops of essential oil into the jar.

In addition to alcohol or paraffin oil, you can add 3–5 drops of essential oil to fruits, berries and herbs to make the smell stronger

Suitable as a body old lamp incandescent

In addition to this you will need:

  • plumber's hammer;
  • thin screwdriver;
  • large diameter coin;
  • glue or silicone, glue gun to him;
  • cold welding;
  • syringe;
  • wick;
  • alcohol;
  • essential oil;
  • match.

How to assemble such a lamp with a wick:

Floating candle lamp

The option with a floating candle works when the jar is filled with an infusion with a strong odor - for example, citrus fruits. Therefore, it would be practical to place such an aroma lamp in the kitchen - for freshness.

For a 0.5 liter jar you will need:

  • 0.5 l of alcohol or vodka;
  • 1 orange;
  • 1 lemon;
  • candle-tablet;
  • essential oil of any citrus fruit.

Peel the fruit, cut the zest into cubes or strips, put half in a jar, leave the other for decoration. Pour a glass of alcohol and leave for a day to get a tincture. Place the remaining zest in a jar and place a lit candle to float.

From clay

The lamp will last a long time if it is made from polymer clay and bake in the oven.

What you will need:

  • 150–200 g polymer clay;
  • mineral paints for painting;
  • thin brush;
  • stack;
  • toothpick;
  • wick or candle;
  • foil to cover the work surface.

How to do:

  1. Cover the table with foil and knead the clay until it becomes soft. Divide the mass into two unequal parts - one will go to the base, the other to the walls.
  2. The bottom of the future lamp is made in the form of a circle; simply roll out the smaller part into a flat cake 1 cm thick.
  3. Form sausages from the remaining clay and place them one on top of the other until you reach required height. It is convenient to level the walls using water and drain. Then there are two options:
    • you cut into the wall big hole for a candle, several small ones for ventilation, and sculpt the top of the lamp in the form of a bowl;
    • you turn your workpiece into a bowl, pull out the spout where the wick will lie - you get an oil lamp.
  4. The design is applied with a knife or toothpick, whichever is more convenient. Air dry the clay, then place the mold in a preheated oven to bake. It is recommended not to close the door for the first 10 minutes, so as not to test the strength of the material due to sudden temperature changes.
  5. Gradually increasing the heat, bring the temperature to 200 o and dry the lamp for 1.5–2 hours.
  6. Do not remove the finished product until the oven has cooled completely.
  7. When you take it out, the applied ornament can be painted with mineral paints - they are discreet, soft colors. If you want a more interesting decor, you can use acrylic paints.
  8. It is recommended to use the aroma lamp every other day. Pour the oil mixture into a bowl-shaped lamp, place the wick so that its edge lies in the elongated spout and light it. For an aroma lamp with a candle, do not forget to preheat the water.

The oil mixture is prepared from any vegetable oil with the addition of 1–3% essential oils

Author's master class on making aroma lamps from clay

A user under the nickname DisLikE shared on her blog her experience of making an aroma lamp-candlestick in the shape of an apple. To repeat her model, of course, you need a lot of patience and accuracy, but the finished product is, however, beautiful.

Materials I used

  • clay;
  • rubber spatula;
  • stack;
  • brush;
  • pencil;
  • paper;
  • glaze for coloring;
  • rolling pin;
  • sponge and rags.

Progress

  1. The work begins with drawing a stencil. There will be through slots on the front wall of the aroma lamp, and you need to draw a pattern for it. The stencil must be cut out immediately and then put aside.

    Using this stencil, we will then cut out holes in the front wall of the aroma lamp

  2. It is easier to sculpt using ready-made sketches. We make several sketches and determine the dimensions of the finished product.
  3. Knead the clay, roll it into a tight ball, make a depression on top and begin to gradually increase the cavity. It is important to ensure that the wall thickness is uniform around the entire circumference (3–6 mm).

    The walls of the workpiece should be 3–6 mm

  4. We trim the uneven edges with a stack and smooth them with our fingers. We form a hollow ball - to do this, we stretch out the edges, gather them into folds, and trim off the excess clay. Level the top of the ball with a knife and water or a rubber spatula.

    We align the edges of the ball and cut off the excess clay.

  5. Now an ordinary ball should turn into an apple. Glue a small patch (about 5 mm thick) onto the liquid clay on top in the center, press it well and smooth it out, then make through hole. The same thing needs to be done on the other side - put on a patch, smooth it out and make a round hole with a stack, then widen it with your finger. The holes should be symmetrical; it will then be easier to mark the cutting line along them.

    We make holes at the top and bottom of the workpiece to mark the cut boundary

  6. We cut off part of the future apple and lightly tap the remaining part on the table to give it stability.

    In the large half there will be an aroma lamp, the small one needs to be rolled out into a flat cake and decorated with slits

  7. On the convex side of the workpiece you need to cut a hole for the candle, having previously estimated that it will fit in size. Don’t forget that after drying, clay shrinkage can be up to 30%, that is, the hole will become smaller.

    The hole must be made with a reserve, because after firing the clay will “shrink”

  8. We roll out a small part of the workpiece into a flat cake - it is more convenient to roll it through a rag, so the mass does not stick. We attach an apple to the workpiece and trace the outer contour. You need to trace the prepared stencil along the same contour. We step back 5 mm from the edge so that the hole does not fall on the seam line, and begin cutting. This will be the front wall of the aroma lamp; it is glued to liquid clay.

    Glue the carved front wall to the workpiece using liquid clay

  9. We sculpt a leaf and a stem from a piece of clay, then apply the clay to a real leaf so that the veins are imprinted. Then the clay must be carefully separated and glued to the apple. Air dry, but out of direct sunlight. Then we fire it, paint it with glaze and fire it again.

    Ceramics is always an experiment; what color you will get is difficult to predict

From orange

If you want to make an aroma lamp from an orange, do it, but you need to use it right away, it won’t last long.

What you will need

  • 1 large orange;
  • olive oil(1 tbsp);
  • citrus essential oil (2-3 drops);
  • candle-tablet;

Cut the orange, remove the pulp from both halves, and brush the sides with the oil mixture. Place a lit candle at the bottom, cut a round hole at the top and connect both halves. You can take more oil - pour it into the lower half and make an oil lamp out of an orange. A cotton thread is suitable as a wick.

Before lighting the candle, brush the orange halves with an oil mixture - olive oil and 2-3 drops of any citrus oil

The second version of the orange aroma lamp involves more ingredients, except for the orange you will need:

  • paraffin;
  • olive oil;
  • citrus essential oil;
  • needles;
  • 2 wicks.

Cut the orange in half, scoop out the pulp, and brush the halves with the oil mixture. Place a wick in each bowl. Heat the paraffin in a water bath, add chopped pine needles or zest to it and fill the orange halves. The tail of the wick should protrude 1–1.5 cm from the bowl. Leave the candles to cool for several hours. There is no need to put it in the refrigerator, the paraffin will set unevenly. This aroma lamp is also prepared shortly before use.

From the dough

What you will need:

  • 1 cup flour;
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil;
  • 0.5 glasses of water;
  • wick;
  • acrylic paints;
  • thin brush.

How to do:

  1. The dough should be dense, so do not pour all the water into the flour at once, add gradually.

    The dough is kneaded from flour and water

  2. Roll out part of the dough into a flat cake, form the sides of the bowls from the rest, and make an elongated spout for the wick. You can make a pattern with a knife or toothpick.

    One piece of dough can make several pieces

  3. To bake, preheat the oven to 200°C, grease a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Cool the product, decorate it acrylic paints, let dry.
  5. Fill the lamp with oil, such as olive oil, and add 5-6 drops of essential oil. Place the wick in the bowl, leaving the tip on the surface.

    Dough oil lamps can be used several times, but they don't last long

How to make candles for aroma lamps at home

To make candles with your own hands, you need:

  • wax or paraffin, melted old candles will do;
  • cotton thread for wick;
  • candle molds;
  • wooden sticks or toothpicks for attaching the wick.

Let's start creating candles:

  1. Grate the wax (paraffin) on a coarse grater and melt in a water bath, stirring constantly. In order not to spoil the dishes, you can melt the wax in cans; they should be different in width so that one fits freely into the other; you can take the same height. If desired, the wax can be tinted by adding rubbed wax crayons suitable colors.

    Make sure that the paraffin melts completely; there should not be even small pieces in the candles

  2. Place a piece of cotton thread in each mold, so that the end with a margin remains on top - it is convenient to secure it on a wooden stick.

    For small tablets, toothpicks are suitable as a holder.

  3. When the wax is ready, pour a little into the bottom of each mold to secure the wick underneath. It's good if you have some metal tablets left over from old candles, they usually have a convenient wick holder.

    A little paraffin should be poured into the bottom of the mold to fix the lower edge of the wick.

  4. Wait about a minute for the wax at the bottom to set and fill the mold to the top.
  5. The candles need to sit for about a day for the wax to completely harden.
  6. Then you can trim the tip of the wick - it should be well saturated with wax. Recommended length -1–1.5 cm.

Ready-made store-bought candles can be scented, in which case they can replace an aroma lamp. Take your favorite essential oil or make a composition of several oils. Lubricate the entire surface of the candle, wrap it tightly in plastic bag and store in a cool place for 2-3 weeks. During this time, the wax will be saturated with your favorite aroma, and when burning you will feel it.

DIY electric aroma lamp

The easiest way is to assemble a two-in-one unit: an aroma lamp and a lamp. Materials you will need:

  • incandescent lamp 15 W with base;
  • cartridge-fork adapter;
  • lamp stand;
  • can;
  • steel wire;
  • oil reservoir (socket, saucer).
  1. The jar will act as a lampshade. Make a hole at the bottom for the cartridge.
  2. Screw in the lamp low power(15 W). Make two small holes at the bottom for the wire, and two more holes on the side for ventilation.
  3. Bend the wire at the base with the letter P, then measure the same height on each side of the can and make a bend here and there.
  4. Make the second fold to secure the jar on metal frame. The wire inside the can should not interfere with the lampshade. For reliable fixation, treat the ends of the wire with a soldering iron.
  5. When the lamp will be used as a lamp, direct the light to the side; when for aromatherapy, fix it homemade lampshade in the upward position, place a socket of a suitable diameter on top. The oil will evaporate from thermal effects lamp turned on.

An energy-saving lamp for heating oil is not suitable; a low-power incandescent lamp must be screwed into the socket

How to assemble a USB aroma lamp

It is quite possible to use a heated USB stand as an aroma lamp: just instead of a mug, place a saucer with water and oil. If this option is not interesting, you can assemble a design that will work with resistors.

  1. The USB 2.0 port is 5V 500mA and will withstand resistance up to 10 Ohms. If you count on 11–12 Ohms of resistance, and there is a desire to protect the device from possible overloads, you need to get a total of 4 W of power. The developer of the USB lamp circuit, when assembling his model, found 0.5 W resistors at home, that is, he needed 8 pieces.

    For convenience, the circuit has a switch to turn the aroma lamp on and off without pulling out the USB cable

  2. The resistors are located in the same plane, the leads must be soldered.
  3. The structure is supposed to be attached to a flat surface so that the heating is uniform. That is, you need to find a regular aroma lamp, where the oil reservoir does not come into contact with the body.

    Heating glue creates impurities in the air, which is undesirable in aromatherapy, so it is better to use paper clips for fastening

  4. To connect to USB power taken from the red and black wires. The wires are glued to the lamp body.

    The wires in the assembled lamp are not visible; that the lamp is working is clear from the lit LED

By simply cutting off the bottom, I got a through jar, which you just need to place on top of a burning candle. In this case, the candle should be smaller in diameter than the jar. I used a steel cocotte maker as a bowl for the butter. All that remained was to make holes in the side wall of the jar to allow smoke from the fire to escape. Here I gave free rein to my imagination so that my aroma lamp would also look attractive in dark room. The whole job took me no more than half an hour. And I get pleasure from the emitted smell every day.

From clay

To make a product from clay, although not very complicated, you will have to spend a lot of time, effort and diligence. This process is quite labor-intensive, but it will be rewarded with exclusive, beautiful and useful item interior Here you can give free rein to your imagination and reproduce exactly the shape, color and design style that you like the most.

To work you will need:

  • modeling clay;
  • foil;
  • special knife for clay;
  • paints;
  • water.

The principle of operation is reminiscent of modeling from plasticine, which everyone went through in kindergarten and school, but still working with clay has its own characteristics. The instructions for sculpting a standard-shaped clay aroma lamp look like this:

  1. Lay out the foil and work on it.
  2. Make a bowl about 10 cm high with a hole on the side to place the candle inside. You can sculpt from a solid piece, or you can lay out flagella in rings one on one, which are finally leveled to smoothness with the help of water.
  3. Separately, create a plate from a small piece - a container for oil.
  4. Using a special knife (if you don’t have one, you can use a toothpick) apply a relief design or pattern. You can apply volumetric shapes.
  5. Then the product should be dried. To do this, you first need to put the figure outside, and after drying, place it in the oven, increasing the temperature by 30 degrees every 15 minutes. After turning off, leave the lamp in the oven until completely dry.
  6. Now you can paint the product in the desired color.

Using the same principle, you can sculpt a product from salt dough: after drying, it turns to stone, creating the effect of a clay figure. To prepare such a mixture, you need to take a glass of fine salt and flour, add 5 tbsp. spoons sunflower oil or hand cream, mix well. After this, start kneading the mass, gradually adding water until homogeneity and elasticity are achieved (about 1–1.5 cups of water should be used). To get a colored dough, you can add food coloring or natural juice to it. You need to dry a craft made from salt dough in the same way as clay dough in the air, and then in the oven.
