Vivaro technical characteristics. Large company: comparison of Opel Vivaro and Renault Trafic

Opel Vivaro is a universal van, produced by the German automaker since 2001. The car is available in several modifications and is created on a common technological platform with cars of the same segment, Nissan Primastar and In the UK, the car is sold under the name Vauxhall Vivaro.

The Opel Vivaro belongs to the niche of cars whose payload does not exceed 2.8 tons. The machine has modern design And high level comfort, meets current safety requirements. All this allows Vivaro to be one of the leaders in car sales in its class in most countries of the world.

In 2006, the second generation Vivaro debuted. The model received enlarged headlights, a modified radiator grille and bumper. The car did not undergo any fundamental changes, but it began to stand out from its competitors with its spectacular appearance.

The car is completed on both sides. A separate topic for conversation is the interior of the Opel Vivaro. Feedback from car owners is clear - it is spacious, roomy and at the same time comfortable. designed stylishly: each sensor has a special visor, thanks to which the information is perfectly readable even in bright sunshine. The gear lever is located on the dashboard, allowing three people to sit in the front seat. In total, the car interior can accommodate 9 people, and all of them will feel equally comfortable while boarding and driving.

Engines for the Vivaro are available in three versions: one petrol and two turbocharged diesel. All three have proven themselves with the best side and do not cause any complaints.

What are the impressions of driving a car? Reviews from owners (for the most part) agree that, despite the “chest” of two tons behind the back, the weight of the car is practically not felt, and the ease of operation, good review and decent ride quality create a driving experience passenger car. All you have to do is get used to the dimensions. On the highway with good road surface Vivaro holds the road confidently and even allows you to compete in agility with some sedans.

The Opel Vivaro is definitely good at driving, but what about its professional skills? Today there are two wheelbase lengths available, as well as an option with a higher roof. For example, the useful volume of a van with a short wheelbase is 5 cubic meters, with a long one - almost 6, which means that three Euro pallets can easily be placed in it. As already mentioned, the passenger version can accommodate up to nine people, while the available trunk volume will be more than one cubic meter. The manufacturer provides the possibility of installing various additional equipment.

The situation today is such that the commercial vehicle market is developing not just actively, but at an accelerated pace. Competition in such conditions is quite high. With all this, the Opel Vivaro is undoubtedly a worthy representative of its niche in terms of the ratio of practicality, functionality and price. This explains the fact that the car is very popular in the domestic space.

Large minivans, common in most European countries, are gradually gaining popularity. Most often on our roads there are models such as Reanault Trafic and Opel Vivaro, which can accommodate up to 9 people or be used as a commercial vehicle - for this it is necessary to dismantle some of the seats and install a special partition. It is almost impossible to say which is better: Opel Vivaro or Renault Traffic, since both cars were created as part of cooperation between the two companies and are based on a common technological base. Therefore, we will compare the base Renault Trafic with the least powerful engine and the Opel Vivaro, equipped with a modern high-performance diesel engine.

Common features

As mentioned above, Renault Trafic can carry up to 9 people in the passenger version. It is worth saying that no one will feel cramped in the interior of the French or Opel Vivaro - access inside is opened by a wide sliding door, which allows you to go directly to the second and third row of seats. Children will be able to move to the last seats without any additional tricks, but adults will need to recline one seat in the second row in the Renault Trafic - this is done by pressing a special lever.

The seats are located at a large distance from each other, but if someone wants to get more space or increase the cargo compartment, then it is better for him to order an Opel Vivaro in an extended modification. The ceiling height is quite high even in the passenger compartment of the Renault Trafic, not to mention the driver's cabin, decorated with a fancy curve rising above the roof. Thanks to such an unusual design element The Trafic cabin accommodates a small luggage rack located above the windshield. It provides convenient storage of documents, as well as other small items that a person may need while traveling.

The driving position in the Opel Vivaro is organized quite well, but some people may not like the forward-leaning steering wheel, which evokes associations with a regular bus. This feeling is complemented by the high seat cushion, which allows you to choose correct landing not for every person. However, the Opel Vivaro has no problems with capacity - a driver of any size can fit on a wide seat, practically devoid of lateral support.

Differences in dynamics

The Renault Trafic participating in our comparison is equipped with a 2-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 90 horsepower. This car offers good dynamics within a large city thanks to the shortened gear row of the six-speed transmission. However, once you get on the highway, the shortcomings of the base Renault Trafic become clearly visible. Acceleration to “hundreds” takes 19 seconds, and maximum speed reaches only 145 km/h. At the same time, moving at such a pace will be extremely uncomfortable - therefore, the Trafic’s speed must be limited to 110–120 km/h.

The difference between them is that the Opel Vivaro is equipped with a more modern and powerful 2.5 engine, the performance of which reaches 146 horsepower. This unit allows a large minivan to move at the same pace as fairly powerful middle-class sedans and hatchbacks. At the same time, the Opel Vivaro can accelerate to 175 km/h, and the comfortable speed threshold is at 150 km/h, which is enough for driving on any road.

Interestingly, the significant increase in power of the Opel Vivaro had virtually no effect on fuel consumption - in urban conditions, this minivan will need about 10.5 liters of fuel to cover 100 kilometers. With a comparable driving cycle, the Renault Trafic consumes 10 liters of fuel, so it cannot be called an economical car. On the highway, the best indicator belongs to the Renault Trafic, but if we are talking about driving at speeds over 120 km/h, then it will require about 12 liters of fuel, while the more powerful Opel Vivaro will cost 11 liters.

Another choice

It is worth saying that the motorist does not have to make a choice between the Renault Trafic and the Opel Vivaro minivan, since both cars use the same bodies, engines, transmissions and even upholstery. However, in both cases, the buyer can choose separate modifications of minivans, which differ:

  • Number of seats: 3,6,9;
  • Wheelbase length: 3.1 or 3.5 meters;
  • The presence of a partition for the cargo compartment;
  • Engine volume and power;
  • The presence of an all-metal body or cargo platform.

If the Renault Trafic or Opel Vivaro is equipped, then we can conclude that a more powerful engine is worth the money that you have to pay extra to get such a modification. It gives the car much better dynamics and practically increases fuel consumption.
