How to make a hose snake by hand. Making a kite with your own hands is simple and interesting. Flat kite made of paper, nylon or polyethylene

Good afternoon dear friends, today we will meet you and see the amazing works of a talented artist Brian Jewett, these are cacti from a hose. Unfortunately the author did not detailed master class of his work, he told us how to do it and what we need for this... Thanks to this idea, wonderful and beautiful cacti can now grow in our garden and decorate our site. To make cacti we need very little time, clamps and a hose. You can purchase clamps at any hardware store, I think that you will not have problems with this. We also need a hose, preferably Green colour. If not, you can paint it the color you want. You can also make such cacti from a soft corrugated tube. There is no need to run out and buy materials, look at your dacha or barn, I think you will definitely find old unnecessary hoses that can be used to create cacti. After all, to create a cactus, it doesn’t matter whether the hose is torn or not, the main thing is that there is one))). These crafts are very strong and durable. In addition, they are not afraid of rain, wind and sun. It is also very convenient that they can be rearranged to any place, they will not crumble or fall apart. Looking at these works it is impossible to fall in love with them. The idea of creating cacti with your own hands from a hose is very interesting and once you start creating them, you will not be able to tear yourself away from this work. Let's start making them.

To make a cactus you will need:
* Plastic clamps.
* Hose.

Method for preparing cactus:
Despite the fact that we need few materials to make a cactus, it turns out very beautiful and original. We take the hose and begin to twist it in a circle, it is better if you have some kind of device, a base, to make it more convenient to do this. If not, carefully twist the hose in a circle and periodically secure the clamps on it. Having secured the clamp, we straighten the tails outward; if it seems to you that the tails are large, then you can safely cut them later to the length you need. Ours will imitate the needles on cacti. You can make any sizes of cacti at your discretion. It all depends on how much hose you have, and the diameter of the hose also plays a role. The thinner the hose, the smaller the cactus will be. If you have different pieces of hose left, you can try to assemble a cactus from them, just paint them all the same color.

You can also make flowers or baby cacti on cacti. To do this, we cut off small pieces of the hose and attach the flower to them, and then attach it to the finished cactus. Children do exactly the same as large cacti only small size. Flowers can be made from plastic bottles or pieces from a hose or attach artificial flowers. The main thing is that our flowers are bright and beautiful.

To make cacti, it is not necessary to use new hoses or green hoses; old unnecessary ones will do, and if the hose is a different color, it can be painted.
Cacti from a hose will be a wonderful decoration for the garden; they are not afraid of any weather, neither rain nor wind, etc.
I hope you liked the idea of creating cacti from a hose, thank you to the author for the interesting material.

You may have seen a toy that is a small wooden box with a side curtain lid. There is a handle attached to the lid. If you move the curtain with the help of a handle, a wooden figurine of a snake suddenly appears from the box. When the curtain is closed, the snake hides. Master class from S.G. Rykhlitsky (teacher of technological education at the Lyceum named after Titu Maiorescu, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova)

One day my grandson was brought a toy from Romania (Fig. 1.). It was a small wooden box with a side curtain lid. There is a handle attached to the lid. If you move the curtain with the help of a handle, a wooden figurine of a snake suddenly appears from the box. When the curtain is closed, the snake hides. Almost all parts of the toy are made of beech. As you know, residents of Western Ukraine make many crafts from this type of wood. Maybe this toy was made by a Ukrainian master, or maybe a Romanian one. This is unknown to me.

Having studied the principle of operation of the toy, we developed our own manufacturing technology, which is given below. General form Our version of the toy is shown in Figure 2, the device is shown in Figure 3.

Device dynamic toy"Snake": 1-cheek left (plywood); 2-side wall of the case, high (wooden slats 6x13 mm); 3-cheek right (plywood); 4-figurine of a snake (linden); 5-sting (nail diameter 1 mm); 6-thread (nylon, diameter 1 mm); 7-curtain (wooden slats 10x17 mm); 8-handle (beech, birch); 9-side wall of the case, low (wooden slats 6x13 mm); 10-side wall of the case, intermediate (wooden strip 6x13 mm); 11-axis (nail diameter 1.3 mm).

Operating principle toys next: because one end of the thread is fixed to the snake figurine 4, and the other is in the hole for handle 8, then when the curtain 7 moves to the right, the thread is tensioned, the snake rotates on axis 11 and, thus, moves out of the body. When the curtain moves to the left, the thread sags, and the snake figure returns to its original position under its own weight.

To make a toy you will need a blank made of three-layer beech plywood (or five-layer birch) measuring 150x90 mm, a 6x13 mm strip 250 mm long from any type of wood, a 10x100 strip 100 mm long also from any type of wood, a small beech or birch blank for the handle, linden board S = 13 mm 50x60 mm for a snake figurine, steel nails with a diameter of 1 and 1.3 mm, strong thread with a diameter of 1 mm and a length of about 100 mm, PVA glue, a small-sized circular saw with a fine-tooth cutter (can be used for metal), drills with a diameter of 1.3 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, drilling machine or a drill, a wood lathe, a pencil, a ruler, a piece of cardboard for a snake template, stationery scissors, an awl, a file, pliers, a knife, sandpaper, an awl, a sawing table, a jigsaw.

Due to the fact that the presence of a small-sized circular and lathe woodworking can be problematic; when explaining the technology, advice will be given on how you can do without them, using more affordable equipment.

Manufacturing technology of the dynamic toy "Snake"

1. Mark and cut out two cheeks from S5 (beech) or S6 (birch) plywood. If you do not have a small circular saw, this operation can be performed using a jigsaw.

2. Mark and mill a groove in each cheek and drill a hole with a diameter of 1.3 mm (drill holes simultaneously in both cheeks, folding them with the grooves inward). In the absence of a machine, the grooves can be made manually using a hacksaw by inserting two blades into it.

3. Mark and cut three slats with a section of 6x13 mm. This operation can be performed using a circular saw or manually with a hacksaw, after first securing the workpiece in the clamp of a carpentry workbench.

4. Glue it with PVA glue to one of the cheeks of the slats and insert a nail with a diameter of 1.3 into the hole.

5. Mark and make a curtain from a 10x17 mm strip and drill a hole with a diameter of 6 mm in it. If you don’t have a machine, this operation can be performed by gluing two blanks 2x17 mm and 8x10 mm.

6. Turn out the handle. If you don't have a lathe, this part can be made by hand using a knife and sandpaper.

7. Make a template for a snake figurine from cardboard.

8. Mark according to the template on the linden board and cut out the blank for the snake figurine along the contour with a jigsaw. Drill in it through holes with a diameter of 1.3 and 2 mm. Open a hole with a diameter of 1.3 mm with a drill with a diameter of 3 mm to a depth of 7 mm (for a thread knot).

9. Place the snake blank on the axle, check whether it touches the walls of the body, and if necessary, remove excess wood.

10. Finish making the snake figurine: cut the neck and head with a knife until it reaches required form and sizes, trim, insert a sting nail with a diameter of 1 mm, cut off the head, blunt it.

11. Assemble the product in the sequence below and test it.

Assembly sequence:

1. Thread a thread through a hole with a diameter of 1.3 mm in the snake figurine, tie a knot and tighten it into a hole with a diameter of 3 mm;
2. Place the snake figurine with a hole with a diameter of 2 mm onto the axle;
3. Glue the second cheek of the body so that the axis passes through a hole with a diameter of 1.3 mm;
4. Thread the thread through a hole with a diameter of 6 mm in the curtain;
5. Insert the curtain into the grooves, adjust the length of the thread and fix it by inserting the handle spike without glue;
6. Test the toy: when the curtain is pulled out and retracted, the snake figurine should smoothly protrude and hide;
7. Cut off the ends of the stud-axle and blunt it. Cut off the excess thread.

Note: If it is necessary to replace the thread, remove the handle from the hole with a diameter of 6 mm, push out the axle, take out the snake, thread a new thread and assemble it in the reverse order.

Base kite with your own hands consists of three strips glued to a sheet of dense material. A tail with a small weight is attached to the end, serving as a rudder. It is important to place the center of gravity in the middle of the body, then the structure can rise into the air. The lighter the kite load, the higher the takeoff will occur. It is necessary to take into account the fact that as the lift of the kite increases, the thrust from the ground increases. Basic structure is exposed to air pressure, so the material for manufacturing must be strong and rigid.

What is a kite

Initially such aircrafts made in China in the shape of a dragon - not a single traditional ceremony was complete without this symbol in the sky. And although the manufacture of structures has long gone beyond the borders of China, the name has stuck. Various models of flying devices can be with a base, frameless, flat or multi-plane design. The finished apparatus is held in place by a long rope called a handrail. The aerodynamic shape contributes to steady state, and a strong thread helps keep the kite at the selected angle of air flow.

Design

The design of a simple kite, from a flying frame with a tensioned covering, can be assembled at home. It will not gain much height, but it will good start to gain initial design skills. There is a single principle at work here, based on aerodynamic, physical properties items. Slings are attached to the corners of the body and combined into a bridle for stable control. Each model is decorated and stabilized by a tail. Maneuverability will be improved by additional cargo or multiple tails.

Operating principle

The main condition for a high launch is wind speed (3-4 m/s). It is recommended to run the finished model on open area where there are no trees or wires. Well made construction air masses they will lift it themselves. You need to stand against the wind, releasing the rope 10-20 meters. In light winds, you can run to catch the moment when to send the flying device into the air. It is better to cope with this task together. The smoothness of the flight depends on how correctly the tail and the length of the lines are adjusted to the size of the structure.

Species

There are a large number of models to choose from: flat, voluminous, curved, frameless, triangular or consisting of several links. The latter differ from flat kite high structural stability. Multi-cell form, with big amount individual links, connected in the form of polyhedra. A group of interconnected flying devices looks impressive in the sky. The width of such a product is suitable for attaching a small camera to it for aerial photography from a height.

How to make a kite with your own hands

To make a flying kite at home, you need to choose a model that determines the shape of the frame and the surface material. Determine the number of support rails that support the canvas in tension . Sheets of paper, fabric, plastic bag, cardboard. The slings can be secured in one or two places on the base. Good aerodynamic force can be imparted to both uncontrolled (single-line) and controlled (multi-line) models. The thread winding spool will eliminate tangling during startup.

From paper

You can make a kite out of paper as follows:

  1. Fold a square out of thick paper.
  2. Label the axis of symmetry.
  3. Fold the sides in half.
  4. Fold the corners to form an accordion.
  5. Pass a long thread through the center of the accordion.
  6. Attach the adjustment rail.
  7. Connect a bundle of threads prepared in advance.
  8. Decorate the free end of the ponytail with bows or rags.
  9. Pull the tail through the hole and secure it securely with a rope.

From fabric

Develop an original pattern to make a flying kite toy from wire using fabric:

  1. Wrap a piece of flexible wire with threads and secure them at the ends.
  2. Shape the wire into the desired shape.
  3. Trace a piece of fabric along the contour of the frame, leaving an allowance of one and a half centimeters.
  4. Glue the fabric to the wire blank.
  5. Decorate the surface.
  6. Tie the rope in several places.
  7. Bring the ends of the ropes to one point, retreating 30 centimeters from the kite, and secure them together.
  8. Tie the rope.

Made from polyethylene

DIY kite made of polyethylene:

  1. Prepare two planks, one being twice as long as the other.
  2. Fold them, moving away from the top of the long bar.
  3. Secure the connection point with tape.
  4. Wrap the strips with tape and make small cuts.
  5. Pull a strong thread through the cuts and secure it.
  6. Trace the outline of the finished frame on polyethylene, adding one centimeter.
  7. Cut out and tape the edges.
  8. Tie a 30 cm long thread onto a short stick.
  9. Tie a piece of fishing line to the top of a long stick.
  10. Connect all three ends of the fishing line to each other and secure the thread of the lower corners, by which you will hold the kite, with tape.
  11. Decorate the product with ribbons.

Dragon Kite

A large design, with contours resembling a dragon, is performed as follows:

  1. Select materials for the frame and covering.
  2. Make load-bearing base desired shape of a flying dragon.
  3. Secure the connected structures with thin rope.
  4. Make a drawing of the model on paper, use it as a template.
  5. Cut out the outline of the kite for the airfoil.
  6. Decorate the surface with homemade designs or stickers.
  7. Attach the outer trim to the frame.
  8. Attach the slings, tie the rail.

Box kite

The box kite is a multi-plane kite. It's done like this:

  1. Make 4 long wooden slats and 6 slats half shorter.
  2. Secure the short ones crosswise with a self-tapping screw.
  3. Attach the long slats to the small ones in the center and ends.
  4. Tie the larger sides at the corners with wire or rope in a crisscross pattern.
  5. Wind the rope around the slats, secure it with tape in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped of the frame.
  6. Attach the plastic strips to the slats, making a complete rotation around the object.
  7. Stretch a rope over the cellophane covering around the perimeter of the square and glue it tightly to the surface.
  8. Make loops of wire for tying the line.

Diamond Kite

You can assemble a kite with your own hands so that the design has improved aerodynamic characteristics. The description will help you:

  1. Make 6 long wooden slats and 4 slats half as long.
  2. Make small crosses.
  3. Cover the sides with wire and secure.
  4. Attach long slats to the sides of the crosspieces.
  5. Coat the wooden slats with drying oil.
  6. Tape the frame around each cross piece.
  7. Align the frame perpendicular to the position of the slats in the crosses.
  8. Cover the body of the kite with two layers of tape, being careful not to damage the shape.
  9. Tie a strong thread to each rail and secure with a strip of tape.
  10. Attach the fishing line to the wide side of the diamond at both ends of the batten.

It's not just children who love flying a kite. For adults, a fun hobby allows them to return to a carefree time for a short time and feel the joy of flying. You can buy a finished product, but it is much more interesting to make a kite on a string with your own hands. Using available materials and drawings you can easily cope with this task.

Types of kites you can make yourself

In order to make a kite with your own hands, you need 5 things: basic labor skills, materials, drawings, desire and patience. All designs are made according to the same principle: a base with aerodynamic properties different shapes and rope. The kite can be flat and voluminous, simple or consisting of several links.

Such a thing can be found in a store, but it will be a standard replicated version. It’s better to make a controlled kite yourself, and then fly it and enjoy the result.

The first who came up with the idea of launching a structure in the form of a kite or dragon into the sky were the Chinese. They took up this fascinating business in the 5th century BC.

Flat kite made of paper, nylon or polyethylene

Together with your children, you can make a simple version of a homemade kite called “Monk”.

  1. Take a sheet of thick paper of any color, A4 format. Place the lower right corner to the long left side so that it aligns with the short one. It turns out to be a triangle with an upper single part. Cut it off, unfold the sheet, you get a square.
  2. Mentally or with a pencil, draw a straight line between two opposite corners of the square - mark its axis.
  3. Bend the sheet so that the right and left side the square “lay down” on its axis.
  4. Bend the corners twice upward according to the accordion principle.
  5. Glue a thread 30 cm long into the middle of the accordion on both sides. The result is a “bridle”.
  6. Tie a rope strictly in the center of the bridle to launch and control the kite.

It is impossible to control a snake without a tail, so do not forget to make a rope from ribbons or threads intertwined and tied at the bottom with a tassel.

  1. Make 20 pieces of regular thread or 5-6 of wool. Their length for a small kite should be at least 50 cm.
  2. Place the cut pieces together and tie them with a tassel towards the end or braid them. You can decorate the tail with bows or paper triangles.
  3. Make a hole in the bottom corner of the kite, thread the tail through it and tie it in a knot or glue it.
  4. If you are using ribbons or strips of fabric instead of thread, thread them through the hole, fold them over, and hem the top to the bottom.

In addition to their decorative and entertainment functions, the first kites in China were used in construction. With their help, ropes were thrown across reservoirs and ravines for the subsequent construction of bridges.

Paper, fabric and wood construction

Compared to the “Monk”, there are some complications in the manufacture of this kite. In addition to paper, you will need thin wooden slats and fabric.

To make such a kite, prepare in advance:

  • 2 notebook sheets;
  • 3 slats (2 60 cm long, 1 – 40 cm);
  • durable nylon thread;
  • colored fabric.

Diagram of a triangular kite made of polyethylene

Triangular kite - another variety flat design, more difficult to manufacture. But the result of your work will definitely please you. The snake has a classic triangular shape, bright and very beautiful.

Materials you will need:

  • plastic bag, better bright and dense;
  • slats (straight sticks made of bamboo, willow, linden, pine or just window beads);
  • rope or fishing line with a reel.

The dimensions of the finished product depend on the dimensions of the package and the height of the launcher. Use percentage notation as shown in the diagram. Decide which number is taken as 100%, and then use a calculator to calculate the specific values.

For accurate marking, substitute your values and calculate the parameters of the kite in centimeters

  1. Cut out the “body” of the kite from the bag according to the drawing.
  2. Prepare 4 slats of appropriate sizes: two side same size, one long longitudinal and one short transverse.
  3. Secure with any glue first the side slats on the sides, then the longitudinal one in the middle, and finally the central transverse one.
  4. Attach a keel in the middle of the kite using tape.
  5. In the center of the lower part of the canvas, cut a hole into which to thread a tail made from scraps of bags.
  6. Tie one fishing line to each corner and fasten them together with a knot.
  7. Attach a fishing line with a reel to the resulting “bridle” for launching and control.

Interesting fact. In ancient times, kites were used for military purposes: for reconnaissance, sending messages or gunpowder into enemy territory.

Drawing of a diamond-shaped product

This design is made according to the same principle as a triangular kite. You will need 2 slats (60 and 30 cm), a plastic bag, fishing line and tape.

  1. Fold the slats in a cross so that the short one intersects the long one at the height of one quarter of the total length.
  2. Tie them together with tape or rope.
  3. Place the resulting cross on a plastic bag.

    We measure right size and the shape of the future serpent

  4. Cut the fabric into a diamond shape, leaving a small margin.
  5. Pull it over the slatted cross, tuck the stock and glue or hem it.

    We wrap the kite crosspiece with a bag and cut it off

  6. Tie a fishing line to the intersection of the sticks and to the lower corner of the diamond. Just in case, give it a few turns and secure it well.

    We tie the fishing line to the intersection of the sticks

  7. Tie the fishing lines together with a knot to which attach the fishing line and reel. It turns out to be a bridle.
  8. Attach a tail, also cut from cellophane, to the end of the axial stick with tape.

In order for a kite to fly well, its tail must be 10 times longer than its base.

Interesting fact. In the 13th - 14th centuries, aerial structures were used to study natural phenomena and weather observations.

You can also use the diagram to make a kite.

How to make a bird-shaped design

To get a kite that resembles a bird in flight, use one trick: secure the string between the side parts. Under the pressure of the wind it will either stretch or weaken, making the structure “winged”.

Necessary materials:

  • 8 sticks with a diameter of less than 1 cm and a length of 30.5 cm, 3 sticks of 91.5 cm and 3 of 150 cm from linden or pine;
  • nylon or polyethylene film;
  • fishing line;
  • coil.
  1. Place 150 cm long rods parallel to each other in front of you.
  2. Place a 91.5 cm stick across, 59.75 cm from the edge.
  3. Tie it with threads so that there is a distance of 30.5 cm between the first and second, and 61 cm between the second and third.
  4. Stepping back 30.5 cm to the larger side, apply a second stick 91.5 cm long.
  5. Tie 4 short slats at a distance of 30.5 cm from each other at an angle so that at the bottom they converge into a triangle (see diagram).
  6. Cover the closed ends of the short slats with the last 91.5 cm long slats. The result is a “manger” tied in the center of the structure.
  7. Tie everything together with threads coated with glue.
  8. Fasten the ends of long sticks that have been previously soaked in water. You need to wet them so that they do not break when bent.
  9. Stretch a fishing line between the ends of the “wings”.
  10. To make the “body” of the kite, cut out a pentagon from fabric (top and bottom sides are 30.5 cm each, height 91.5 cm + 2 cm for the hem). Make a square in the center with a side length of 30.5 cm.
  11. From the bottom corners of the square, measure 59.75 cm to the left and to the right.
  12. Draw segments from the ends of the top and bottom sides of the pentagon to the resulting points. The result was a canvas with a window in the middle.
  13. Sheath and glue the wooden frame of the kite.
  14. Additionally, cut out 4 inserts for the “manger”. Each size is 30.5 x 30.5 cm. Insert them into the “windows” and glue them.
  15. Make a tail from rope and leftover fabric, attach it to one side of the “manger”.
  16. On the other hand, make a bridle from two fishing lines tied together and tightly tie a thread with a reel (rail) to them.

To ensure that the structure does not fall on one side and does not fall apart in the air, strictly adhere to the dimensions and firmly tie the parts together.

It is problematic to fly such a kite alone, so call your comrades and get a surge of joy from launching the “bird” into the sky.

Volumetric (box-shaped) kites

To create a volumetric kite you will need:

  • wooden slats (window beads can be used) - 4 pcs. 1 m long and 6 60 cm;
  • large garbage bags;
  • a durable nylon harness on a spool from a hardware store;
  • scotch;
  • ruler;
  • square;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

A voluminous kite flies high and beautifully, and you can make it yourself

Secrets of a successful launch

You can fly a kite alone, but this requires a certain skill. It’s more convenient and more fun to do it together. One holds a kite, the other a spool of fishing line or thread (rail). The main condition for a successful launch is the presence of wind from 3–4 m/s, as well as open space no trees or wires.

  1. The person holding the rope stands so that the wind blows at his back, unwinds 10–20 meters of rope and pulls it tight.
  2. The second one moves back the length of the rope, runs up and launches the kite. He must seize the moment and pull the rope.
  3. If the wind is not strong enough and the kite begins to lose height or cannot rise at all, the “leerman” will also have to run.

If you want to have a great time and get creative with the whole family, make a kite. Making it yourself is not at all difficult. The spirit of unity, joy and fun will be a reward for the time and effort spent.
