Corner for flowers made of wood. Wall shelves for flowers. Advantages of making shelves with your own hands

Flower lovers are sometimes so keen on growing them that there is little space on the windowsill, so they have to invent alternative options. Buying shelves and racks in a store is expensive for many. In addition, they do not always correspond to the dimensions of the pot and do not fit into overall design. We will help you solve this problem. We will design smooth and asymmetrical wall shelves, racks and shelves with stands, pots for pots that match your idea and capabilities.

Wall rack on ropes made of wooden blocks

To assemble the shelving frame, prepare wooden beams. The thickness of the tree does not matter, and the length will depend on the scale of the structure, the total number and size of pots, and the availability of free space on the wall. Therefore, before constructing a rack, calculate the number of pots you need to place and select the size of the shelves. As an example, let's look at a three-tier rack with shelves 35 cm long and 85 cm high.

To make a design in addition to wooden beams you will need:

  • wood putty;
  • sandpaper or grinding wheel;
  • paint and varnish for wood;
  • thick twine or rope for hanging;
  • metal hook for wall mounting;
  • self-tapping screws

Among the tools for work, an electric or hand saw, drill, and screwdriver are also useful. The first step is preparing the bars. We measure and saw off the beams of the required size for the shelves and side slats. The width of the side strips should correspond to the width of the shelf. After cutting, we mask defects on the wood (chips, cracks, scratches) with a special putty and sand the surface (sandpaper or grinding tool with nozzle).

The wood became even and smooth. Now we make holes in the side edges of the shelves with a drill. We fasten them to the side strips using self-tapping screws and a screwdriver. If necessary, we attach beam limiters to the front of the shelf. When the rack is assembled, we paint it in the chosen color. If you want to add an aging effect: run sandpaper over the dried paint. After this step, be sure to coat the wood with matte or glossy varnish to extend its service life and increase its resistance to moisture.

We drill a hole on both sides of the top of the side planks and pull a rope or twine through them. To prevent the end of the rope from splitting when threading through the hole, cover it with tape, masking tape, or art tape. WITH reverse side strips, leave pieces of rope and tighten them into a tight knot. We drill a hole in the wall, attach a strong metal hook and hang the rack that you made with your own hands on a rope. Arrange the flowers and enjoy.

Mini pendant with round stands

An original idea for placing flowers is a hanging shelf with stands for pots. Besides unusual design the advantage of the design is that water that has leaked through drainage holes, does not spoil the wood, but ends up in a pot with a plant located on the lower tier. Under the last tier with a pot, it is enough to place a bucket or flowerpot with a voluminous flower. To make a wall hanging you will need a minimum set of tools and materials:

  • wooden blanks;
  • rope for hanging the structure;
  • saw and jigsaw for cutting an even circle;
  • metal ring and hook for fastening;
  • roulette;
  • dye;
  • cardboard (piece of plywood) for the template;
  • marker.

We measure out required size wooden blanks, turn the pot upside down and draw its diameter. We retreat 2 cm from the upper and side points of the circle, draw lines and saw off a square blank. We do the same with the rest of the forms. Making a template for cutting out the stand. Cut out a circle from cardboard or a piece of plywood that is 2 cm smaller than the diameter of the top of the pot. Attach the template to the middle wooden blank and draw a figure according to the template. We fasten the squares at the corners, using a wood jigsaw to cut out the inner circle. We drill 4 holes at equal distances in the corners of the workpiece.

To create contrast, you can paint the shelves and rope in different colors, giving the structure additional strength. Select the distance between the shelves individually depending on the size of the flowers. The optimal distance would be 30 cm. We thread a rope through each hole and tie a knot under them, fixing the position of the shelf in one place. The last step is to leave about 30 cm of rope for fastening to the wall, tie them together to form a loop, and thread a metal ring through it. Hanging hanging shelf on wall holder.

The second version of a hanging flower bed with flower stands

If you have a lot of plants, then pay attention to a multi-tiered flower bed on ropes. The principle of its assembly is similar to the previous version, but there are some nuances. We prepare the following set of tools and materials:

  • a circular saw;
  • wood crown suitable for the diameter of the pot;
  • screwdriver or drill;
  • planed boards or moisture-resistant plywood sheets;
  • twisted rope;
  • plastic grips for fixing shelves.

We take the boards, draw a central longitudinal line and mark the centers of future holes for flower pots, taking into account intervals of at least 5 cm. It is most convenient to work with a crown with a diameter of 10–12 cm. You can choose a crown with a larger diameter, the main thing is that the pot does not fall through and is caught by the rim over the edge of the stand.

If you don't have a crown, use a wood jigsaw. The edges with a jigsaw are uneven, so they will have to be sanded. After you make circles for the pots, drill holes for the rope on both sides, bottom and top, retreating 2.5–3 cm from the edge of the shelf. The diameter of the holes should be equal to the thickness of the rope.

We prepared the holes, thread the rope through them, starting from the bottom shelf and moving up. We leave the interval between the shelves approximately 25–30 cm, and tie knots under each hole. Then we hang the rack on the chosen place and level it. Since the structure is voluminous and the load after filling with pots will be large, we additionally fix the nodes at the holes with two or even three plastic wire grips. We attract them and firmly fix the structure at the measured height. Such a hanging flowerbed on ropes can be hung both indoors and outdoors. sunny side Houses. It is mobile, easily removed and moved to another place.

Wall shelf with straps - the simplest design for the home

If you're looking for something simpler, design strapped flower shelves. Such a shelf will accommodate flowers that do not require sun in the apartment. When installing shelves in your backyard, you can also install sun loving plants.To make such a design you will need a simple set of materials:

  • wooden boards;
  • a pair of leather belts;
  • dowel-screws and self-tapping screws.

We cut boards of suitable sizes. The more massive and wider the shelf, the large quantity It can withstand loads and color. After cutting, we sand the sharp edges with coarse sandpaper or a grinder with a grinding wheel. To increase the strength and wear resistance of wood, we treat it with stain and varnish.

We select leather belts. Their length will depend on the size and number of shelves. For example, if the width of the shelf is 15 cm, and the distance from the hole to the wall is 25 cm, the length of the belt is 70 cm. For fastening, we use old leather belts, first checking them for serious abrasions and tears. We drill holes in the places where they are attached to the shelves and in the wall. We hammer dowel screws into the wall, fold the straps and fix them to the shelf with self-tapping screws, using a screwdriver or screwdriver. The wall shelf with straps is ready. We recommend placing small flowers on it, and leaving large ones for multi-tiered racks.

Shelf with brushing - revealing the texture of the wood

The main feature of brushing is the manifestation of the convex structure of the wood under the influence of fire. As a result of processing with a torch or blowtorch, the soft part of the wood burns, and the hard part appears on the surface in the form of bulges; after sanding, burning marks remain on the wood.

To construct such a shelf you will need a board made of natural wood and rope. The length of the shelf depends on the number of flowers; this point is calculated individually. The shelf can be left straight or given a wavy shape by marking the outline with a pencil. Choosing the second option, we go through circular saw along the contour and give it the desired shape. Using a grinder with a grinding wheel, we trim the edges.

Next we take blowtorch or a gas burner and burn the board, observing all fire safety measures. We carry out the procedure outside, wear thick gloves, safety glasses and a respirator. After the wood becomes completely black, remove the burnt layer by sanding. The soft layer is removed, the wood becomes convex to the touch, and the wood takes on an aged appearance. Next, drill two holes on each side. We pass a rope through them and tie a strong knot at the bottom of the holes. To preserve and highlight the structure of the wood, treat it with stain and open it with varnish. Using ropes, the height of the shelf can be adjusted by tying a knot higher or lower.

Attached shelf-ladder - a universal option for all seasons of the year

A floor or wall-mounted shelf made of wood has long been part of the everyday life of summer residents and owners of private houses as a practical and universal option for placing indoor plants and not only. It occupies a minimum of space and, thanks to its convenient design, can be used all year round:

  • in winter it can be moved to the barn and used as a stand for household small items;
  • in spring it serves as a rack for propagating seedlings;
  • in the summer takes its place on personal plot as a flower stand outdoors;
  • In the fall it is convenient to dry crops in it before preparing for winter.

To construct a bookcase and organize a flower stand, you will need a standard set of tools: a wood jigsaw, a drill, a saw, a screwdriver. Materials for assembling the structure: edged boards, plywood, chipboard, stain or paint, antiseptic, varnish and a set of screws.

The most labor-intensive process production of trapezoidal bowls for plants. Their depth allows you to place ready-made flowers in pots or fill the hole with soil and plant seedlings in them. An alternative replacement for shelf bowls is to install flat shelves. For the side parts of the bowl, use boards 2–2.5 cm thick. We make the bottom of the trapezoidal bowl from chipboard or thick plywood. The quantity and length of the bowl is adjusted depending on the number of flower pots. This rule also applies to the length of the stand. We advise you to calculate and make a plan in advance so as not to get confused.

The optimal ratio of the number of shelves or trapezoidal bowls per shelf height of 1.5–1.6 m is 4–5 pieces.

We make the support strips for the bookcase from edged boards thickness of at least 5 cm. For stability of the structure, we assemble it with a slope of 15°. Once collected, it will rest against a wall or fence. Don't forget about the inclined cuts at the bottom and top of the supports. After preparing the supports, we attach bowls or shelves to them, securing them on the sides with self-tapping screws. We ensure that equal spacing is maintained between stands. If you do not plan to remove the bookcase for the winter, then do not use support strips, but immediately attach the bowls or shelves to the wall.

Practical shelving made of plastic window sills

If after repairs it is lying idle in the garage old window sill, don’t rush to throw it away. Design a convenient rack for indoor flowers. In addition to the standard 3.9 m plastic window sill, you will also need 3 nickel-plated or galvanized pipes as vertical posts, 2 brackets for mounting to the wall and 9 flanges.

Cutting plastic window sill into 3 equal parts of 1.3 m each. We mark the location of the holes for the pipes, which will serve as vertical posts. We place two pipes on the sides and one in the middle for balance and structural strength. Holes for pipes from the outside and inside plastic shelves should match when placed together. We cut pipes of the same length, insert them into the holes made, and fix them with screws and flanges. We fasten the rack to the floor in the same way. To further increase the strength of the structure, we attach the side posts to the wall using brackets and screws.

It is no secret that many gardeners, and simply plant lovers, want to create a magnificent greenhouse at home. Of course, there is not enough home space for this. However, it is quite possible to create a flower rack yourself.

As a rule, the following materials can be used to make a rack:

  • glass;
  • tree;
  • metals;
  • plastic;
  • drywall.

The appearance of the glass shelving is simply excellent. This option takes into account the thickness of the glass and the factor of skill in handling it. You will have to cut it out with your own hands, change shapes and sizes. If you are unable to do this task, then contact professionals in glass workshops.

In practice, household flower racks are made not specifically from one material, but from combinations of materials. Usually whatever is at hand comes into play. Here key factor is what tools are available to the “creator” of the rack and what materials were chosen for this.

Plywood rack

If you have a sheet of plywood at your disposal, then you have the opportunity to build an inexpensive but practical shelving option. Plywood is a material of good strength and does not require large expenses. And working with him is not particularly difficult. It may take only a few hours to work with it, about 5-7. During this time you will be able to create an original flower shelf. An excellent assistant in this task will be electric jigsaw. It is logical that you should be able to handle him well. Because we have to cut smooth lines on the working material.

In addition to one sheet of plywood and the specified jigsaw, you will need:

  1. two pipes treated with nickel,
  2. 4 fastening elements (pair per shelf),
  3. tool for attaching fasteners,
  4. high-quality varnish or paint,
  5. electric drill,
  6. fine-grained sandpaper,
  7. roulette.

In your work you should adhere to a certain technology and algorithm:

  1. Decide on the parameters of the shelves. Study the dimensions of the area where the shelves will be placed.
  2. Based on these parameters, you create an image of the planned shelves on a plywood sheet. You can give them a simple configuration. These are the versions rectangular shape and having rounded corners. You can create all kinds of waves of varying depths. The number and depth of waves depends on your skill.
  3. Having made the necessary markings and images, you can start cutting.
  4. The panels are laid on top of each other, the distance where the hole for the specified pipe is concentrated is fixed. It is imperative to achieve complete coincidence of the points.
  5. The working material is carefully sanded with sandpaper. Here special attention must be paid to the end sides.
  6. Create a varnish coating on the shelves. Several layers are recommended. You choose the colors and tones yourself, depending on your design ideas.
  7. A pipe should be threaded through the holes created. It is attached to each shelf. Key moment at this stage - maintaining strict parallelism of the shelves in relation to each other and their perpendicularity to these pipes.
  8. The shelves are mounted to the wall. This operation can be carried out using special staples. They attach to the back of the shelves at the bottom and top and to the wall. Here you need to make markings on the wall without errors. A drill is used to create holes. Next, self-tapping screws will be inserted into the holes. The dimensions and strength of the fastening tool determine the stability of the shelf. After all, it will soon be filled with heavy flower pots.

The same rack, side view.

Wooden version

The width of the intended rack is as follows: 22 centimeters, length - from sixty or more, height - 70 cm. Only three shelves will be arranged here.

List of required materials:

  • long two meters wooden planks, their parameters: 3.5 x 0.5 cm, their required quantity- 6 items,
  • two wooden planks of similar length, but with parameters 2 x2,
  • nails 25 and 40.

Can't do without:

  • saws,
  • hammer,
  • roulettes.

You need to create the shelves themselves from thinner planks. Other pieces of planks will be used to create shelf racks.

In your work, adhere to the following scheme:

  1. On thin material, segments of 60 centimeters are marked. They are sawed off. As a result, 18 slats are formed.
  2. Similar operations are performed with other strips. Only the segments there will be 70 cm long. They should also be cut. Four racks are formed.
  3. From the remnants of thicker planks you need to cut two beams. Their specified length is 23 cm.
  4. Two racks are laid on the floor. Their positions are parallel. The racks indicate the intended installation locations for the shelves. Scrupulousness is needed here. The distance between each shelf is determined by the height of the flowers that are planned to be placed in the future.
  5. Thin boards should be laid, take 6 pieces. Mount them “collectively” at the end sides. This involves timber (23-24 cm in length) and fasteners. Three shelves should form. The end sections are carefully processed with sandpaper.
  6. The entire structure is assembled. It's better to work as a duet here. For example, you hold racks with shelves, and an assistant holds the entire rack using 40 nails.
  7. The created rack is varnished or painted.

Wooden shelving options:

Floor ladder stand made of quality lumber.

A simple, but light and spacious rack with sections for things.

Solid mobile structure for seedlings.

Easy to make rack.

The photo shows ordinary mobile racks for warehouses, but this design is perfect for flowers.

The rack can be successfully used as a source of material for old furniture, for example, a chest of drawers with the doors removed.

Ambitious in form, but simple in the materials used. The lumber for such a rack does not have to be “fresh”.

A rack in the form of a window frame, in this case hanging.

Another simple planting rack, with hanging lights that are mounted so they can be easily removed.

A shelving unit with inclined shelves-steps - this option has its advantages: from the possibility of creating a green wall to saving space. Suitable for insufficiently well-lit areas.

Pallet rack. It is enough to take a ready-made pallet, treat its surface and secure the shelves in any convenient place, because the side racks and base are already there. An important point is that such a rack will not be stable enough; you will have to solve the problem of attaching it to the wall or ceiling.

Green room, with shelves along the entire length of the “walls”.

The original rack is not made of lumber, but of unrounded logs.

The light rack shown in the title photo from a different angle.

Honeycomb rack made from old furniture.

Large wooden rack

The stands are made of planed timber 5*5, the sides are made of aspen, the shelves are made of 18 mm plywood. The rack is designed for different things (there is space for a wardrobe), but the value of this video is that the author talks about design and mistakes during the work - it can be useful when creating your own flower rack from lumber and plywood.

Metal version

This option will be characterized for a long time service, since its racks are metal. The structure is wall-mounted. Metal rods are used to weld it. Their diameter is 7-10 mm. Instead, you can use a corner. The second layout will be useful if the structure is placed on the floor. Design parameters are determined by personal wishes and the availability of shelf space. If the parameters of the bases on the sides are 90 x 20 cm, then you can arrange four shelves in the rack. Their distance is 30 cm. This will allow you to place flowers different heights. The top of the rack is suitable for concentrating tall flowers.

During welding, the following are created:

  • fastening on the upper sections of the inner edge of this structure,
  • crossbars for positioning each shelf.

Next, strips (5-6 mm in length) are cut out of the bars (their dimensions are 25 x 15 mm). There should be 20 slats. They lie face down. Their location to each other is parallel. They are knocked down with other slats (20 cm).

The welded structure is then attached to the wall. If the wall is solid (concrete, brick, etc.), standard screws become fasteners. Here you need to correctly determine the installation points of the bases for the shelves being created. Their correct plane is parallel. Otherwise, the shelves will not be placed evenly on the crossbars. Distance between fasteners: 50 – 55 cm. Shelves are placed on the arranged supports. The entire structure is covered with paint. These shelves can be varnished and the metal components can be painted.

Example. Feature - the shelves are made from pieces of wooden boards:

Purchased metal rack.

Another option for an industrial rack that you can make yourself, if you have the skills to work with metal.

A lightweight rack with rings for flowerpots can replace a full-fledged rack if there is not a lot of space in the apartment.

Any rack for things can be adapted for flowers.

Window rack, metal gutters are used as shelves. Enough lightweight design, convenient for growing plants that love high humidity.

Affordable - from plastic window sills

Quite a well-known version of the rack. Here the necessary components in the work are as follows:

  • plastic window sills, length – 390 cm,
  • 3 pipes, nickel plated,
  • 6 flanges,
  • 2 brackets.

Operation plan:

  1. The designated window sill is sawn into 130 cm sections.
  2. Three holes are created in these segments at equal distances. Two are obtained on the flanks at the back, and one is obtained at the front, strictly in the center.
  3. The pipe of the required height is cut. The structure is mounted with flanges and screws.
  4. The lower flank of the pipe is connected to the floor with the same flanges in three points. Brackets must be placed on the upper flank of the two wall pipes. Method of their installation: to the wall with screws.

Window sill options

IN window opening It is convenient to mount shelves of various designs:

Backlit

Lighting and its installation is a broad topic, so we will consider it separately. Below are sample options that are easy to make with your own hands at home.

Spot directional light.

Adjustable pendant lighting. Convenient for accompanying full cycle plant growth, from seedlings to adults.

Classic wooden shelving unit with lighting.

Lightweight wooden structure with comfortable pendant lamps.

Glass version

This design is convenient because you can install lighting on top. This way the light will reach all the shelves. To work you will need:

  • glass: 6 pieces,
  • wooden slats: 2 pieces.

The glass must be tempered. Its minimum thickness is 5 mm. The thickness of the vertical slats determines the groove parameter for mounting glass. This also affects the strength of the installation. If the shelves reach 20 cm in thickness, then the grooves should be 10 cm, and the minimum thickness of the slats should be 20 cm.

Since the mass of flowerpots turns out to be impressive, there is a lot of pressure on the entire rack. Therefore, it is possible to castling: one glass shelf leaves the rack, and its wooden counterpart takes its place.

Plasterboard version

When working with plasterboard, you can create niches in the wall and create regular shelves. In both scenarios, a frame is created. He finishes with this material. The result is a good design, but weak in terms of operation.

Such material deteriorates from moisture. And it is difficult to prevent water from getting on it. After all, flowers are often watered. They need moisture. And here there is a compromise - glass shelves are attached to the frame.

This design can be used for lighting. The result will be impressive.

If you intend to place the rack on the balcony, then the indicators of this room are important: humidity, temperature, illumination, etc. Based on them, the material for the rack is selected. For example, if the loggia has poor insulation, Chipboard shelving cannot be installed there. This material will begin to deform and the rack may fall apart. And if the balcony is characterized high humidity, all elements of the rack must be coated with protective paint. The optimal solution for making a balcony rack is metal. This good decision, if you want to place a lot of different flowers on the rack, and therefore heavy pots. If there are flowers and containers for them, it will be a little difficult to build a structure with chipboard.

After choosing the working material, make a drawing. Decide on the amount of material. Organize the following tools and materials:

  • wooden beams, section: 50 x 50,
  • level,
  • drill,
  • fasteners: self-tapping screws (the length is no more than the thickness of the plate), dowels, metal corners (4-8 pieces for each shelf)
  • hinges when the rack is made closed,
  • shelf material

You can use plywood. Its thickness is determined by the masses of objects that will be on such a shelf.

Work process.

  1. Marking the area on the balcony. If the rack fills the entire wall, beams are mounted on the ceiling and floor. The fasteners here are dowels. The bars are identical to the parameters of the planned shelves (depth and width). The arrangement of the bars to each other is parallel. Highest load turns out to be on the middle shelf. Therefore, this shelf must have strong stability.
  2. Slabs of material (chipboard, plywood) for the shelf are cut out. Their size is as in the project.
  3. They are screwed to the shelving frame. This is where a jigsaw comes in handy.
  4. During installation, constant checking of the positions of the plates is necessary. Need a level.
  5. The fasteners are screwed until they are immovable.

If you intend to make all the elements of the rack from metal. Then the following structures are suitable for assembly: frames, traverses, lintels and metal shelves. All components are secured with anchor bolts.

From scrap materials

The rack does not have to be monolithic. It is quite possible to assemble it from individual elements without a single fastening, like a construction set, and disassemble it at any time. In the photo below, the rack is arranged between the walls, which serve as a support; the racks are construction ones, quite heavy and therefore stable. Shelves can be made from any material. The only type of work in this case is adjusting the shelves to the length of the wall. But if the length is sufficient, cutting the material may not even be necessary.

Simple hanging design

Video on English language, but everything is quite clear and simple.

Growing flowers, for most housewives, is a very exciting activity. A small hobby gradually develops into a big hobby, filling all the free space. It’s good if the living space allows you to allocate the necessary territory to create a green oasis. But what about this sprout, which has no place on the windowsill, can’t be placed on the closet, the table is occupied, and on the floor among the large flowerpots it will simply get lost.

The solution is this global problem, floor and wall shelf options are becoming available. Modern market offers a wide range of ready-made designs. Variety of shapes, structures and color designs is amazing and has no boundaries. However, made with your own hands, flower shelves become a unique design solution and bring an extraordinary atmosphere to the interior.

Variety of solutions and materials

Before starting work, it is necessary to create a rough plan for the arrangement of colors, based on which the sizes and features of future shelves will be determined. Depending on the type of plant, two main options are used:

  • wall;
  • floor

The number of flowerpots located on the selected structures also divides them into several types:

  • Single rooms. In most cases, they are used as wall hangings; small, densely flowering bushes or climbing dense greenery look very beautiful in them.
  • Double. It is better to choose flowers with the same care conditions for them. They can be wall-mounted or floor-mounted; for the second option, large ones are more suitable tree plants.
  • Multi-seat. The shelves occupy a certain section of the wall, the main thing is not to place very heavy pots to prevent them from falling; in the floor version you can place up to ten flowerpots.

All proposed options can be designed in the form of corner shelves, so you will save space and additional features for design innovation. For lovers of liana plants, ceiling shelves are offered for consideration.

To create your own flower racks, you can choose and combine a wide variety of materials. Very often, many people choose a tree. Despite the environmental friendliness and versatility of use, do not forget that you can always find others at hand interesting options, which have their own advantages. We will look at some of them in more detail.

Plywood shelves

Plywood - perhaps this is the simplest and cheap material, from which flower shelves are obtained the most various forms and sizes. If there is no plywood sheet in the house, it will cost a small amount of funds. The process of creating a shelf from plywood is not complicated. In the presence of necessary tools the task at hand will turn into a work of art in a short time.

First, you need to make a sketch. Here you can show unlimited imagination. The main thing is that the resulting design corresponds to the initial purpose, is durable and can withstand the intended number of pots.

When the canvas is ready, the edges of the cut are cleaned with sandpaper and holes are made for future fastening. The entire surface is covered with a special solution, which increases moisture resistance and prevents the appearance of mold. After drying, the shelf is opened with varnish.

Creative people can demonstrate their talents by decorating the product with drawings, covering it with pebbles or shells, and showing creativity.

To secure wall options plywood shelves use metal corners or brackets, due to which they are attached directly to the wall.

Plastic rack

The most common place to place flowers indoors is the windowsill. Using such a plastic sheet, flower racks are created. You can purchase it at almost any hardware store or order it from the manufacturer.

For the design you will need several nickel-plated pipes, fasteners, flanges for attaching to the floor and a pair of brackets, do not forget about the tools necessary for the work.

After the measurements have been taken, the window sill is cut to the required length. The next step is drilling holes for the pipes, two at the edges, it is important that they are parallel to each other, and one in the center. The length of the pipes must be the same, otherwise the structure will be unreliable and shaky. The assembled rack is secured using ceiling brackets and floor flanges.

The advantages of plastic shelving are durability, they are not afraid of moisture, and they are easy to care for.

Corner shelves for flowers

To create a corner shelf, you can use all the materials listed here. For small products there will be enough leftover materials.

The technology for creating corner shelves with your own hands is very simple. A surface of the required size is cut from a sheet of chipboard. A galvanized pipe is threaded into the prepared holes and the entire invention is connected to each other with flanges. Using brackets it is fixed to the selected surface.

The next stage is treatment with varnish or paint.

To create a green corner, an interesting solution would be a unique corner rack. As they grow, the shelves become smaller, representing a pyramid. On this design you can arrange flowers of different sizes using climbing plants On the sides.

Wooden flower shelves

Wood is one of the most reliable materials used in construction. Properly assembled and secured wooden racks or shelves can accommodate any number of plants, regardless of size. In choosing wall wooden shelves, you can limit yourself to the simplest option. To do this, take a beam of the required length, coat it with varnish or paint and fasten it using metal corners to Wall. If you replace the fastenings with leather straps, you get a creative design approach that brings individuality.

Wooden floor racks are made for plants in large flowerpots. They can withstand a lot of weight, allowing you to combine different types of colors.

A corner shelf can be easily assembled from scraps, even if they are of unequal length. Flowering bushes diversify the boring life of corners with their bright colors.

For those who like unusual options, we offer wooden shelves that combine several different materials.

The method of assembling wooden shelves or racks is the same as in the version with plywood.

Wall flower shelf made of wood and metal

When combining materials for flower shelves, we recommend choosing a combination of metal and wood. Welded metal carcass with wooden flooring used for wall views shelves and fits very harmoniously into a modern interior.

For manufacturing, you will need a drawing with measurements, several rods that will later create the base of the shelf, and a wooden board for the partition. After welding the main part, it must be treated with an anti-corrosion solution and painted in the chosen color. Next, the prepared wooden plank is installed, the finished product is attached to the wall using self-tapping screws.

Considering this combination of materials in floor options for flower racks, the main work is carried out according to the same plan. Preference is given to options with several tiers, and lovers of sophistication will appreciate forged flower stands.

Glass shelves for flowers

The main location of glass shelves is usually in the window space. On such shelves, all plants will receive the necessary portion of light. When preparing for work, you need to choose the right glass thickness. The best option 0.5 cm. By strengthening the lower part with wood, this design can easily support up to ten small pots of flowers.

If handling a glass cutter causes some difficulties, it is better to seek help from knowledgeable craftsmen. By providing required sizes, they will easily complete your task.

In addition to the glass, you will need iron corners to attach the slats. Shelves are placed on top of the slats.

Equally important is the proper arrangement of flower racks and shelves. By following a number of simple tips, harmony is achieved between the green space and the atmosphere of the home:

  1. If the floral variety is dominated by decorative flowers, it is better to use a wide floor rack. Its height should not exceed the middle height of the room, otherwise there will be a visual distortion of the space.
  2. When arranging flowers on tiered shelves, we use the rule from largest to smallest. Lush, larger bushes are placed on the lower floors, and we are gradually creating a transition to miniature options.
  3. When creating flower stands with your own hands, special attention should be paid to the supports. Large flowerpots require a strong and stable structure, especially if there are small children or animals in the house.
  4. A large number of plants placed next to each other on one shelf should have the same conditions for care.
  5. Add variety by inventing interesting ideas and adding small accents. Any driftwood with an extraordinary approach, with the addition of artificial accessories in the form of butterflies or bugs, will turn into a masterpiece.

The use of flower shelves is not limited to internal part premises. Houses and apartments with balconies or loggias contain entire greenhouses. Owners of personal plots create incredible compositions on their territory. Restored stairs, bicycles and wheelbarrows are used as shelving. Teapots, watering cans and other old utensils can serve as a hanging shelf. Such green corners become one with the owners, and self-designed racks and shelves for plants are an integral part of a small flower paradise.

Even ordinary and simply inexpensive plywood is capable of holding flower pots; a certain thickness of such a product is quite convenient, both for these flower pots and for various flower vases. Also think about the originality of the design and you can safely turn this material not just into a convenient shelf, but also into a stylish one. design solution.

Tools:

  • The sheet of paper is strictly sandpaper;
  • Construction tape;
  • A drill with a special convenient attachment for creating holes for mounting pipes;
  • Electric jigsaw;
  • Wood varnish of your choice or paint;
  • The pipes can be galvanized or you can take nickel-plated ones with a small diameter, “calculation: two pipes per shelf”;
  • The sheet of plywood itself is exactly this size, and so that you can also cut out all the elements necessary here.

Manufacturing process

First, you should think about the place where the new do-it-yourself flower shelf on the wall will be located; you should carefully evaluate the place itself and the required dimensions of the product. Think over and choose the most appropriate product size in a given location.

After you have prepared all the necessary tools from the previous list, you can begin to create a drawing on the plywood itself. Immediately apply all shelf drawings to the sheet and double-check all dimensions. In order for the new shelving to easily fit into your room interior, you should slightly modify the design. You can always leave aside boring and straight strict lines and come up with some interesting wavy, curved lines for a new product. They look quite effective.

After you have sketched out the actual dimensions on the plywood, you can pick up a jigsaw and start cutting out each shelf. It is important to follow all the lines and do the cutting carefully and without errors, so that each shelf has excellent external characteristics; do not rush at this stage. Follow all the contours of the elements and everything will work out.

After the shelves have been successfully cut out, you should once again double-check all the dimensions and evaluate how beautifully you were able to cope with such a task. If desired, at this stage, some shelf can be immediately remade, that is, cut out again if the dimensions do not match and, in general, if they were not cut out as neatly as you would like. The holes required for the current installation of pipes should be marked on its uppermost workpiece.

Already cut blanks can be placed on top of each other and simply drill the intended holes for the pipes. It is important to observe the diameter of the holes created so that they are no larger and no smaller than the pipes themselves.

You can safely take on the processing of plywood blanks. They should be cleaned using prepared sandpaper. It is worth paying special attention to the end parts of each part.

Working with color involves covering every detail after carefully washing it down with colorful coatings. You can take any one you like. This can be any type of wood varnish or paint. It is better to cover in several layers. This procedure is important to obtain a smoother surface. We fix it on the wall.

All that remains is to check the finished structure for the required strength and you can delight the hostess with your creative ideas.

If you are interested in how to make a flower shelf with your own hands using wooden shelves, then see detailed instructions using the example of a model of three shelves.

Exists small rule: to create shelves made of wood should be no more than 60 cm in length, no more than 23 in width and preferably no higher than 70 cm.

Manufacturing process:

Stock up on slats with a small thickness. Next, we cut out 18 thin blanks, since each individual shelf will consist of a certain number of elements. The length of each element is 6 cm. Racks for colored racks can be easily created from bars.

To create such bars, you can take dimensions of 20 by 20 mm and cut them every 70 cm in 4 pieces.

It is now worth cutting out the elements for such a future design, approximately 23 cm in length.

This can be done from the trimmed bars left in the work.

Next, you need to put the shelves on top of each other, install two racks and create marks for places among future similar mounts. Now no less important point by determining the places between the shelves themselves. After all, it is planned to install pots on the shelves themselves and the height dimensions of the flowers are always different, so it is worth carefully considering how convenient the height will be and at what distance to create such shelves from each other.

Each shelf consists of six pieces of small shelves. Shelves can be easily attached from the end side using regular nails of the required length. It is most convenient to take nails with a length of approximately 2.5 cm for such a case. After this installation is successfully completed, it is worth sanding all uneven edges with an emery sheet.

When installing shelves, it is worth positioning the product so conveniently that the master can easily hammer in these nails and at the same time hold the current rack.

After the product is ready, you can give it shine using varnish or simply paint it with paint. In order for the surfaces to be even and smooth, it is necessary to process them carefully and in several layers.

Also, a do-it-yourself floor shelf for flowers will always be simple and easy to use, moreover, it can be easily installed in one place and then, if desired, simply moved in the desired direction.

Such an elegant shelf is held together only with the help of special metal racks. They can be welded using a special jumper. Such a shelf will become not only convenient, but also an unsurpassedly durable thing for storing flowers in own home.

If you plan to mount such a shelf directly on the wall, you should additionally purchase special metal rods with a necessarily cross-section of one cm in size.

If you plan to install the shelf simply on the floor, it is worth preparing special corners.

We also analyze the place where the finished structure will be located and begin to come up with a drawing and just what dimensions it will be finished work.

Using welded rods for this type of shelf, it is worth connecting metal structures. This will help create additional support and the highest resistance to loads.

It is also worth using the metal strapping method for 4 tiers of the product at once. To match the interior, it is worth applying paint directly to the welds ready-made elements.

Next, you should cut wooden planks measuring 25 by 15 along the length of the shelves. The required size is 60 cm. Using wooden blocks, you should connect such elements only after they are evenly laid on a flat surface. They should be laid out strictly parallel so that the resulting structure is fairly even. Use bars for connection with dimensions equal to approximately 20 cm.

Now all that remains is to simply attach the finished assembled shelf, using special-length self-tapping screws, to the wall. You just need to take into account such a simple rule that the current distance between two marks for fastening should not be taken less than 50 cm. In order for the metal frame to be strictly parallel to the floor, it should also be used in current work and a special device called a level.

Finally, you should paint the shelves. For this purpose, you can use various types of paints or simply use a special coating for wood in the form of a ready-made varnish of a colorful material.

There are many more types of flower shelves that you can make yourself at home. The most convenient is a shelf for flowers on a windowsill with your own hands; installing it is no more difficult than a regular shelf, but using such a shelf is simply a pleasure for the housewife.
