Corner bathroom shelf: selection of material and installation. Corner shelf for the bathroom How to assemble a corner spacer shelf stella

It is difficult to do without a shelf in the bathroom, because you need somewhere to put a soap dish, hygiene products and other accessories that may be useful during washing. Since the bathroom usually has very modest dimensions, many people prefer corner shelves that occupy a minimum of usable space. The range of such products is wide, but not every option will fit harmoniously into your bathroom.

To prevent your purchase from becoming a disappointment, when choosing, you need to take into account the main factors - the material of manufacture, the shape and color of the shelf and, of course, the method of fastening.

To make shelves, plastic, glass, wood and metal with an anti-corrosion coating are most often used. There are combined models in which one material is complemented by another for a more aesthetic appearance and increased strength.

View corner shelves Main characteristicsFlaws
PVC corner shelves are the most budget option. They are very light, absolutely moisture resistant, and quite varied in shape and size. There are colored products and completely transparent ones, plain and with a pattern. They are easy to care for and installation does not require much effort either. If the shelf is made of high-quality plastic, it will serve for quite a long time without losing its original appearance.

Plastic models are divided into stationary and adjustable (telescopic). The first ones have a standard distance between the tiers and do not always allow you to conveniently place everything you need. When installing such shelves, it is necessary to determine in advance the maximum comfortable height so that you don't have to re-weigh it. In adjustable models, the shelves can be moved up and down the rack by selecting optimal height, and to prevent them from moving, clamps are used. Most often, such designs are combined (plastic-metal)

The plastic easily scratches and scuffs, so do not use abrasive substances when cleaning. If the plastic is too thin, the shelves may sag under the weight of bottles of shampoo and other cleaning products. And finally, although PVC products look attractive, they are not stylish enough, in which they are noticeably inferior to glass and chrome-plated structures
For the manufacture of shelves, not ordinary glass is used, but special glass, which is difficult to break with an accidental movement. Such structures are not afraid of temperature changes and exposure to steam, they are not affected by water, soap and alkaline solutions, and mold does not develop on the glass. The main advantage of glass shelves is their spectacular and stylish appearance, thanks to which they fit harmoniously into any interior.The disadvantages include the high price and relatively large weight of the products. During the installation process, care should be taken to avoid sharp impacts and strong pressure on the glass. These products are easy to care for, but you should not use abrasive cleaners, as they cause small scratches on the surface.
Wooden elements make the interior warmer and more comfortable, give the bathroom a special flavor and go well with ceramic finish. The cost of wooden shelves is low, and besides, they are easy to make yourself. The material is not afraid of shocks or loads; if it accidentally falls on the floor, nothing will happen to itThe main disadvantage of wood is its low resistance to moisture, so the shelves must be treated with water-repellent compounds. This treatment should be repeated periodically and try to avoid the use of abrasive and caustic substances for cleaning. It is also undesirable to hang a wooden shelf above the bathtub itself, where there is most steam and splashes. With careful care, these products will last a very long time.
Metal shelves are valued primarily for their strength. They cannot be broken upon impact, are difficult to scratch or bend, and can withstand heavy and long-term loads. There are very elegant models, coated in gold, bronze or brass, there are simple chrome shelves with different numbers of tiers, and there are completely exclusive ones. Forged Products. Thanks to this assortment, a metal shelf can be matched to absolutely any interior - from classic to ultra-modernThe main disadvantages of such structures include high price and susceptibility to corrosion. If protective covering If it is too thin or of poor quality, very soon the shelf will begin to rust, and stains and smudges will appear where it meets the wall. Metal products weigh more than plastic or wood, and a poorly secured shelf can seriously damage the bath if it falls.

Mounting methods

Depending on the design of the shelf, there are several mounting methods - from gluing to installation on special brackets. Let's look at each option in more detail to determine the most optimal one for yourself.

Suction cups and glue

Small plastic shelves are often available with silicone suction cups, which are quite suitable for holding several light objects. Fixing such a shelf is a matter of minutes, and if necessary, the product can just as easily be moved to another place. True, these fastenings cannot be called reliable, since the suction cups can fall off if the load is accidentally increased. Waterproof glue based on silicone or acrylic will help to avoid this.

Installation with glue is very simple: the area where the shelf will be placed is thoroughly washed and dried, suction cups with inside Lubricate with glue, press firmly to the surface of the walls and hold for several seconds. After the glue dries, the shelf remains securely fixed and does not fall even if moisture regularly gets on the suction cups.

Lungs metal shelves often attached using vacuum suction cups. They are many times more reliable than simple silicone ones, so glue is not needed for safety. How to install: the surface of the walls is well cleaned and wiped dry, the suction cups are secured on the back side of the shelf, the structure is applied to the wall and, pressing the suction cup body with one hand, the lever is turned with the other until it clicks. The base under the suction cup must be perfectly flat and smooth, otherwise reliable fixation will not work.

Fastening by surprise

Telescopic corner shelves have a spacer post with a built-in spring, which ensures reliable fixation. One end of the stand rests against the side of the bathtub, the other against the ceiling, and its height is adjustable from 1.35 to 2.6 meters. There are models that are installed not on the bathtub, but directly on the floor and occupy the entire corner.

Assembly and installation is quite simple. The stand consists of several hollow tubes that are inserted into one another, and a spring. Retaining rings and shelves are put on the tubes, then the upper and lower tips, after which the structure is placed in a corner and secured by springing the upper part. Many models include special elements with double-sided tape For additional fixation racks to the wall.

For dowels and screws

This option is the most common. It is suitable for shelves of all shapes and sizes, does not take much time and ensures reliable fixation on long years. As a rule, the shelves have ready-made holes or mounting loops for self-tapping screws; many models have hardware included in the kit. The only drawback This type of fastening consists of holes in the wall that remain visible if the shelf needs to be moved.

To work, you will need a bubble level, a marker, a drill and dowels with self-tapping screws. If the walls are tiled, the drill must be tipped and must be sharpened.

It is very important to immediately determine the optimal location of the shelf so that you do not have to make extra holes and mask defects.

Step 1. Place the shelf against the walls in the corner and select the most convenient height.

Hinges or holes for screws should not fall on the seams between the tiles. To avoid distortions, apply a level to the shelf; you can also navigate by the seams between the tiles. Carefully mark the drilling points through the holes in the posts with a pencil or marker.

Step 2. Put the shelf aside, after which the enamel is scratched at the marked points with something sharp, for example, the same self-tapping screw. This will prevent the drill from slipping and will make the work much easier.

Step 3. A drill with a Pobedit tip is inserted into the drill and they begin to drill in the marked places. The drilling speed should be low so that the tile does not accidentally crack. Having gone through the layer of tiles, turn on the impact mode on the drill and go deeper into the wall itself. The depth of the hole should be slightly greater than the length of the dowel.

Step 4. Dust is blown out of the holes and the dowels are hammered in until they stop. Next, attach the shelf again, aligning the mounting holes with the holes in the wall, and screw in the screws.

On special holders and brackets

Corner glass shelves fixed in place look very impressive in the bathroom. decorative holders. They are quite varied in shape and size; the most popular are the pelican-type cantilever mounts. To install them yourself, no special skills are required.

Step 1. Define the desired height shelves in the corner and mark attachment points on both walls. The marks should be located in the same horizontal plane and at an equal distance from the corner line.

Step 2. Drill holes to the required depth, clean them of dust, and insert the dowels until they stop.

Step 3. Place the holder mounting plate against the wall and screw the self-tapping screw through the upper oval hole. There is no need to tighten too much as long as we are just attaching the fasteners. The holder is attached in the same way on the other side. Check the horizontal arrangement of the elements; if necessary, adjust the plate by moving it up or down. After this, tighten the screws until they stop.

Step 4. The holder body is inserted into the grooves under the mounting plate, a screw is inserted into the hole and lightly tightened. The second holder is attached in the same way. Inserted into the housing plastic linings, then carefully insert the shelf itself and tighten the screws until they stop.

Cantilever mounts are available in various colors and differ in size. They are designed to fix shelves with a thickness of 5 to 40 mm, not only glass, but also made of any other material. Installation of decorative brackets is performed a little differently, although the basic principle is the same: holes are drilled according to the marks on the wall, brackets are applied and screws are screwed in. Then the shelves are screwed to the brackets themselves.

DIY corner shelf

You can make a corner shelf yourself, if you wish, free time and materials. To make a shelf, waterproof plasterboard and plywood, plexiglass and strained glass, polycarbonate, but the easiest way is to use wood. This option is the least expensive, and the wood is easy to process.

To work you will need:

Materials must be prepared in advance

Boards need to be selected good quality, not damp, if you want the shelf to serve for a long time and not lose its aesthetic appearance. Having prepared everything you need, you should take measurements and draw a sketch in order to more accurately determine the dimensions of the shelf and the number of tiers.

Step 1. Cut lines are marked on the board at an angle of 45 degrees so that the result is a trapezoid-shaped workpiece, the base of which is equal to the width of the shelf. There should be 4 such blanks.

Step 3. All workpieces are thoroughly sanded with fine-grained sandpaper, the dust is wiped off and processed protective impregnation. If the wood absorbs the composition very quickly, the treatment is carried out twice, special attention should be paid to the ends. After this, the workpieces are laid out to dry.

Step 4. On each shelf, on the sides, the points for attaching the racks are marked with a pencil. There will be 4 racks attached to the bottom and top shelves, and 2 between the intermediate tiers. The distance between the racks is 20-30 mm.

Step 5. At the marked points, holes for fasteners are drilled (the diameter of the drill should be one size smaller than the diameter of the screw). Next, the racks are applied one by one to the shelf and screwed with self-tapping screws, having previously coated the ends with glue.

Connecting shelves and racks with self-tapping screws and glue

If desired, the shelf can be decorated with figured sides made of semicircular slats or carved wooden elements. You can paint it or varnish it to highlight the natural texture of the wood, cover it with shells - there are a lot of options, it all depends on your imagination.

Few people, except our compatriots, are so good at planning the interior of sanitary facilities, because bathrooms in apartments, for the most part, are not spacious. To post necessary items, every corner of the room is used. An excellent help in this is a plastic, wooden, metal or glass corner shelf for the bathroom.

It is this design that is the topic of today’s material.

Types of bathroom shelves

A corner shelf is a fairly common product for arranging sanitary facilities. There are many options on the market, but to help you make right choice I divided all the available models into several groups and depicted it all on the diagram:

And now about each variety in more detail.

By material

Let's start with the materials from which the shelves are made. The following options are available for sale:

Glass

I really like glass corner shelves because they are very attractive and elegant. appearance, as well as high performance. Shelves placed in the corner of the bathroom help not only to conveniently place all the necessary hygiene items and cosmetics, but also to make it as beautiful as possible.

Just by hanging a glass shelf in the corner, you are already decorating and refreshing the design of the room.

Corner glass shelves are especially relevant in small sanitary rooms. Not only do they take up a minimum of free space (especially since the area in the corners is usually not used), but they also do not “weight down” the interior, since they are made of transparent material.

For the manufacture of the described models, tempered glass is used, which can withstand significant loads - static and impact. The edges and corners are beveled to avoid injury. The product can be completely transparent, matte, painted in some color or decorated with patterns. The shelf can be one or have several tiers of different shapes.

Glass withstands use well humid air with constant temperature fluctuations, and you can wash it from contamination with ordinary household detergents. However, keeping the corner shelf perfectly clean is quite difficult.

The fact is that traces of mineral deposits from water (drips) remain on the surface all the time, which must always be removed with a dry cloth. Therefore, you will have to pay attention to it after every shower.

When purchasing, give preference to trusted manufacturers. Cheap models made in unknown Chinese factories are often characterized by increased fragility. And if you place too many jars and cones, the shelf may burst. Moreover, she can do this not immediately, but at the most inopportune moment.

One more point I wanted to mention. If you have small children at home, hang the shelf at such a height that they cannot reach it. However, the possibility of injury due to careless handling of products cannot be ruled out.

Metal

A corner-shaped metal shelf is also often used for bathroom equipment. They have the following advantages:

  • very high strength;
  • increased reliability;
  • long service life.

However, this requires that the metal be reliably protected from the destructive influences characteristic of the bathroom microclimate. This is high humidity and constant temperature fluctuations. For protection, chrome is used, a layer of which covers the shelves, or it is applied in several layers.

I prefer a corner shelf for a stainless steel bathroom. It looks just great, it's easy to clean, and marks from water drops are almost invisible on it. And stainless steel retains its original appearance regardless of moisture levels and integrity decorative covering(which simply doesn’t exist).

Unlike glass shelves, steel shelves can accommodate almost any number of vials and jars. The main thing is that the fastening with which the shelf is installed in place can withstand.

Another big plus is that the products combine beautifully with taps, mixers and other similar plumbing fixtures. Using metal shelves you can create in the bathroom exquisite interior, which will indicate your high artistic taste.

An interesting alternative is the wrought iron corner shelf in the sanitary room, which adds a luxurious and unique touch to the bathroom design. However, such models need to be selected individually, or better yet, order their production from a specialist based on your own project.

Plastic

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a purchase, I suggest considering an option such as a corner plastic shelf for the bathroom. Low cost does not mean that the product is bad. Plastic models cope well with the tasks assigned to them and have a beautiful appearance.

Plastic is easy to process and can be painted in various colors. Thanks to this, you can find product options of all possible shapes, colors, shades and sizes on sale.

A corner shelf for a bathroom made of plastic pleases with its high strength and long service life. Hanging on the wall or installed on the floor, the product is easy to keep clean.

Plastic is poorly susceptible to contamination and marks from drops are invisible on it. The shelf can be easily washed with plenty of water and detergents. Non-aggressive chemical solutions do not destroy the shelf.

The only negative, from my point of view, is low mechanical strength. The surface of the plastic is quickly covered small scratches, which somewhat worsen the appearance of the shelf. But it doesn’t matter, because thanks to the low price, the product can be replaced at any time.

Tree

Wood is not popular as a material for making shelves that are supposed to be used in the bathroom. After all, the tree does not tolerate high humidity air, especially in combination with constant temperature fluctuations. Despite the use of various hydrophobic protective agents, the shelf quickly loses its appearance and performance properties, becoming unusable.

However, this does not mean that wooden products doesn't exist at all. After all, corner shelves made of wood have a luxurious and solid appearance. Therefore, they are excellent for equipping large sanitary rooms equipped with an effective ventilation system.

I recommend choosing wooden shelves made from dense types of wood. For example, oak. And do not use products made from glued sheets (chipboard, MDF) in the bathroom. Although such options are possible, so the final choice is yours.

In order for the shelf to last longer, I recommend installing it in the third or fourth humidity zone so that drops and streams of water from the shower or bath do not fall on the product. Also, you should not buy floor shelves, the legs of which can get wet from water falling on the floor during hygiene procedures.

By placement method

The shelves listed above are from various materials can be classified according to another criterion - the way they are placed in the room. There are several:

  1. Floor. Products for storing various small items in bathrooms, which are not mounted on the walls, but are located on the floor. For this purpose, either legs with rubber anti-slip pads or rollers are used. In my practice, I have encountered models from different materials– plastic, glass, metal.

The advantage of floor-mounted corner shelves is that they can be moved to another location at any time, changing the design of the bathroom or placing them more conveniently. However, the disadvantage for me personally is that they take up space on the floor of the room, which means that the free space in the bathroom is not used very rationally.

  1. Built-in. This type of corner shelves differs from other varieties only in the installation method. They are manufactured and hung during decorative finishing walls in the bathroom. For this purpose, hidden voids, features of the enclosing surface and finishing cladding are used. The photo below shows a corner shelf that is built into ceramic tiles.

The advantage of such designs is that they fit very organically into the design of the sanitary room, can complement or emphasize certain interior elements, and also play a major role in the design of the room.

  1. Hanging. As the name suggests, models of this variety are mounted in the corner of the bathroom on the wall using brackets (we’ll talk about them below). This best option, if considered from an ergonomic point of view. On shelves suspended above the floor, which do not take up free space on the floor, you can place a large number of items. And below place a bathtub, washing machine or something else.

There are practically no disadvantages to the design, except that they need to be hung on the wall, and this process is not as simple as it seems. Especially if your walls are finished with plasterboard or plastic, and you didn’t worry about the embedded parts for the shelf in advance.

The following option may be a way out.

  1. Telescopic. This shelf differs from other varieties in the way it is secured. The design of the product is very similar to the hanging model, but the fixation is done using a sliding rod (arranged like a crossbar for vinyl curtains in the bathroom).

To install, you need to extend the rod to the required length (slightly more than the distance between the ceiling and the floor), and then place it in a corner in the spacer between the two surfaces.

The advantage of a telescopic shelf is that it is very easy to install, it does not take up space on the floor and allows you to store a large number of different cosmetic and detergents. The downside is that it cannot withstand too much load, and it cannot be installed if you have a suspended ceiling installed in your bathroom.

I advise you to buy telescopic shelves made of plastic. Their price is low, plastic tolerates operation well in humid air with constant temperature fluctuations, and is also lightweight.

By type of brackets

If you decide to purchase a hanging corner shelf, which is the best in terms of strength and ease of use, then it is important to immediately pay attention to the type of brackets used for installation.

The following options are available for sale:

  1. Traditional hinges with holes. They are used for hanging shelves from natural wood and glued slabs. The hinges may be part of the shelves (which is often the case with metal or plastic products) or screwed separately (like wooden models). Hinges for glass shelves are secured using brackets with spacers that protect the glass from damage.

To install shelves on traditional hinges, holes are drilled in the bathtub walls into which dowels and screws are inserted (the “quick installation” system). If your surfaces are tiled, drill holes very carefully so as not to damage the decorative finish.

  1. Brackets for glass shelves. Their design is somewhat unusual, for which the product was called “pelican” among builders. The brackets can hold shelves with glass thicknesses from 8 to 34 mm. By the way, you can use them to mount shelves from other materials, but it is with transparent panels that “pelicans” look most impressive.

The advantage of this option is that with the help of such fasteners you can install corner shelves of any size. You need to buy fasteners, and then order glass of the appropriate size from the workshop. Be sure to check that their corners and cuts are processed appropriately (do not have sharp edges that could cause injury).

The “pelicans” themselves are attached to the wall using screws and dowels.

For special aesthetes, you can find fasteners of other shapes on sale, but they all work on a similar principle.

  1. Decorative brackets. They not only securely secure corner shelves made of any materials, but also serve as an independent part of the bathroom interior. Brass looks very nice in the bathroom, but there are options on sale made from stainless steel and ordinary metal, protected by chrome or paint from corrosion.

The specific mounting method depends on the model of the decorative bracket. The big plus is that with their help you can design any shelf that will decorate a corner in your bathroom and serve as a place to store a large number of necessary little things.

  1. Secret installation. A device that is a long horizontal pin that is mounted on the wall using the “quick installation” system. It is inserted into a hole made in the shelf and becomes completely invisible. It looks like the shelf is hanging on the wall with no visible support.

This solution is not suitable for a corner shelf. Firstly, the shelf will have to be made of wood or glued boards, which quickly deteriorate in the humid air of the bathroom. Secondly, the mount will only support the shelf on one side (otherwise you won't be able to slide it onto it). And this will affect the strength. But such options are used by some, so the choice is yours.

Summary

Based on the information presented above, you can easily choose suitable model bath shelves. Instructions on how to assemble and install a shelf with your own hands are presented in the video in this article.

A shelf in the bathroom is important functional accessory. It is on it that all kinds of shampoos and shower gels, deodorants and other hygiene bottles and shaving accessories that everyone needs are placed. Therefore, such a shelf should be quite spacious and, of course, have an attractive appearance.

Modern construction markets offer many different shelves for the bathroom, however good options cost a lot of money. The author suggests doing DIY bathroom shelf using a minimum of inexpensive raw materials. By the way, they can easily end up among household supplies, then there will be no need to buy such materials at all.

The simplest and most optimal shelf for the bathroom is corner. The author proposes to make it. Such a shelf will save space, especially in a small bathroom, and visually smooth out the corners.

Let's start making a shelf for the bathroom. From the materials for this we will take:
- chipboard, MDF boards, wooden boards– to choose from;
- corners, dowels, screws, hinges;
- paint for wood processing or self-adhesive film.
From the available tools you will need:
- jigsaw and screwdriver (options: saw and screwdriver);
- drill;
- level with ruler;
- paint brushes, sandpaper;
- string, pencil.

The author chose wooden boards to create the shelf. You will need wide ones for the tiers and narrow ones for the frame. They must first be prepared - dried and planed. Don't worry that wooden shelf will rot because of high humidity premises. It will be necessary to cover it with special paint or cover it with self-adhesive film. There is also no need to place it in the corner where the bath or shower is located. The shelf will have four tiers.

We mark the future shelf. Required dimensions are determined as follows: you need to measure the depth of the lower part from the corner along the bathroom wall, then multiply the result by two and add five centimeters for trimming. Next you will need a simple pencil and string. We lay the blanks on a flat surface, fasten one end of the string to their center, and tie a pencil to the other. We stretch the pencil and outline a circle, divide it into 4 identical sectors using a ruler or a level with a ruler.

With help electric jigsaw We cut out the marked circle strictly along the lines and cut it into sectors.

We clean the edges, especially rounded ones, using sandpaper very carefully. Now you will need four rectangular boards for the shelf frame. Three of them are identical, one is slightly wider, with a gap the size of the thickness of the board. We determine the length of the boards ourselves. It will depend on the distance between the four shelves you need. The width is small. We fold two planks - with and without a gap - perpendicular to each other. This is a corner mount. The remaining two will connect the tiers of the bathroom shelf on the sides.

Drill holes for screws. We adjust the corners of the structure using a level, assemble it, and tighten the screws. Corners are screwed under each tier for reliability. The assembled shelf needs to be painted with moisture-resistant paint, allowed to dry well, or covered with “self-adhesive”, as the author did. Here's a fragment.

The most significant functional component of any bathroom is the plumbing it contains. But to perform mandatory hygiene procedures and solve other important tasks, additional pieces of furniture are required, which, while fulfilling their functions, will help increase the level of comfort in the bathroom. In the list of such products, a special place is occupied by the corner shelf, presented on the market in a wide variety

Peculiarities

At the end repair work related to finishing surfaces in the bathroom, or having decided to slightly or radically change the interior of the room, you should start choosing accessories. Since most modern bathrooms Unfortunately, it is limited in size; practical and convenient additional items must fit harmoniously into the proposed dimensions and not clutter up the space.

By installing corner shelves, the bathroom interior will be distinguished by functionality and comfort. This is explained by the configuration features of such devices, which will allow the space to be used correctly, in contrast to wall-mounted and bulky cabinets.

The main purpose of the shelves is to store personal hygiene items, appliances used in the bathroom, bath clothes, towels, household chemicals etc. Corner structures have several shelves on which you can place everything you need, and it can also be equipped with hooks on which items are hung.

In addition to the configuration, the raw materials from which the structure is made are also important. As a rule, manufacturers give preference to durable types of materials that are resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations, as well as loads and mechanical stress. The presence of the above characteristics will provide the item with a long service life. Therefore, close attention should be paid to this nuance.

The configuration and dimensions of corner shelves for the bathroom take into account small area premises, due to which a lot of various types products, for example, telescopic or mounted models.

In addition to the size and configuration, the advantage of such products is the features of the shelf surfaces that are processed special compounds so that the products can be used in contact with water.

A corner shelf for a bathroom is a universal piece of furniture that will enliven and decorate a room; the variety of new products available on the market will allow you to choose products that will harmoniously fit into any style. And since the corners in the room, as a rule, do not have any practical significance, will expand the functionality of this area and can make efficient use of the entire space.

Varieties

The classification of corner products occurs according to the method of their placement. Based on this, several types of shelves are distinguished. The first of them is floor furniture. It is designed to store necessary things and appliances in the bathroom. The shelf is not attached to any surface in the room, but is located on the floor. Usually the product has semicircular tiers and legs with special anti-slip pads or wheels. To assemble this product, manufacturers use plastic, glass, metal or wood.

The main positive feature of such models is their mobility. If necessary, such furniture can easily be placed in another part of the room, which provides greater comfort during its operation, and also makes it possible to experiment with the arrangement of furniture in the bathroom and overall design in it. Such models can have different heights; things fit perfectly on the lower tiers - bathrobes and towels; the upper shelves are usually intended for hygiene products; the height of such shelves should be at the level of the washbasin, this will make it more convenient to use the ingredients stored there.

The disadvantages include the inability of this type of corner shelves not to occupy a certain part of the room, so in small bathrooms it will not help rationally use the allotted space. Floor cabinets and shelves are best placed in spacious bathrooms.

Built-in variations of corner structures have fundamental differences from other models only in the method of fastening. You need to assemble such a model at the stage of finishing the walls in the room.

The advantage of such products is the organic way with which the corner built-in shelves fit into the bathroom design. Thanks to such furniture, you can place accents in the interior as you wish. Shelf models with hooks will help you find a place for bath towels.

The only drawback of built-in structures is considered to be the specificity of their installation on the wall. Most often, for these purposes you will have to use the services of specialists, which entails additional costs.

Hanging corner structures It must be mounted in the bathroom using special fasteners - brackets. Based on ergonomics, this type is the most acceptable. On the shelves, which will be suspended at human height, you can store many different items, and under the structure you can easily fit washing machine or a tall wicker or plastic laundry basket. To the disadvantages hanging shelves It is worth considering the complexity of their fastening if the installation needs to be done on plastic or drywall, where there are no embedded elements.

Telescopic corner shelves for the bathroom are similar to the previous design, however, the principle of their installation does not require brackets, since the product is fixed to the wall surface using a sliding rod. It extends to the required length and is located in the corner, in the space between the bases.

The undeniable advantage of telescopic products is their installation. The bar takes up virtually no space on the floor. And the height of the shelf and the distance between tiers can be adjusted according to your needs. At the expense of their positive features such a shelf will be relevant for use in families with small children. You can allocate a personal shelf for them below.

Chromed metal tiers and glass shelves - classic and original version for most interiors. The disadvantages include its inability to withstand heavy loads, so the model is not suitable for placing things or devices with heavy weight. And for storing shampoos, soaps, gels and cosmetics, telescopic corner model It will come in very handy. For bathrooms with suspended ceiling the design is not suitable due to its specific installation.

When purchasing such models, it is better to give preference to plastic three-tier products: they will have minimal weight and will perform well when used in a damp room with temperature changes. Manufacturers recommend purchasing telescopic bathroom structures with a reverse lock. It will protect the structure from sliding down if you overdo it with the weight of the objects on it.

Manufacturing materials

Another nuance by which corner shelves can be classified is the type of raw material from which the structure is made. Today, manufacturers of furniture and accessories for sanitary rooms produce products from various types of materials.

Buyers are presented with models made from the following raw materials:

  • wooden structures;
  • shelves made of laminated MDF;
  • plastic goods;
  • glass corner shelves;
  • metal structures made of stainless steel, bronze, brass;
  • combined products.

Despite the attractiveness, luxury and sophistication wooden structures, corner shelves in a wooden bathroom are not the right purchase, due to the specific microclimate of the room and frequent contact wooden base directly with water liquid state. Such operation, sooner or later, will negatively affect the condition of the product - the raw materials will swell, lose color, or rotting processes will begin on the structure. But there is, of course, no categorical ban on the use of wooden shelves in the bathroom, since oak products with a special coating perform well when used in wet areas. This is explained by the specific properties of this type of wood.

Oak structures have a significant disadvantage - high cost. An interior where wood plays a key role requires harmony of all components of the room’s design, including corner shelves. Such products may have a mirror or contain closed tiers.

MDF shelves are always distinguished by their original design. In addition, the products are quite affordable, which explains their popularity among consumers.

But the models have a drawback - a short service life, since the ingress of a large amount of water onto the surface of the material leads to the product losing its shape, absorbing moisture, sagging and often collapsing. This also applies to the edges on the shelves. In addition, mold and mildew form in places where moisture has accumulated. The functionality and aesthetics of such a shelf are completely lost.

Plastic products are popular and practical. Among the main advantages of raw materials are the following properties: reasonable price, big choice colors and shapes, light weight and durability, quick installation.

Products come in the most unusual colors, sizes and textures. Due to this, plastic shelves are suitable for any bathtub. The design is very easy to clean, and no traces of water remain on the surface. The lightness of the product does not in any way affect its strength, but, of course, within reason.

Corner glass shelves attract with their sophistication. The glass structure seems weightless. Such products are practical and functional, however, consumers consider the presence of marks and stains on the surface from water to be a disadvantage of glass shelves. Based on this, to care for the shelf you will need specialized product for glass. The material is resistant to moisture and with proper maintenance, a glass shelf will decorate the entire room. Glass structures harmonize very well with almost all styles of room decoration.

But there is a small chance of breaking the glass shelf during careless use. Therefore, you should not purchase such a design for a bathroom that will be used by children. It is also necessary to control the weight of items that will be stored on the shelves so as not to overload the structure. A small double shelf will become practical option when placing it in a corner next to the bathtub.

Hardware Most often found from chrome, the raw material has a high degree of moisture resistance and copes well with loads. In addition, metal shelves look attractive, especially in combination with a tap and mixer made of the same material.

A small disadvantage of the products is their impressive weight, in comparison with plastic products, due to which it is necessary to carefully approach the installation of structures.

The cost of stainless steel corner shelves is higher than glass products, but the quality of the material is worth the money spent. The advantages of metal include resistance to mechanical stress and hygiene; the raw material is not afraid of moisture and heat.

On sale you can find combined corner shelves; glass is used in combination with metal to create them. In some collections of manufacturers there are even bronze semi-angular products.

Mirror shelves are an analogue of glass structures, but with some distinctive features, the main one of which is the sophistication of such a shelf. Such products can be made of matte mirrors or decorated with various designs. Therefore, such products will become a real interior decoration.

Mounting methods

There are many options for installing shelves, most often it depends on the material from which it is made.

There are plastic models of corner shelves, which are fastened using silicone suction cups. Installing such a product is not difficult; if necessary, it can be moved to another place. However, this option is not reliable - if you exceed permissible level load, the structure will fall.

Waterproof glue, which is used to treat the suction cups and the surface of the walls, will help to avoid such situations. This method will securely secure the structure, even in contact with moisture.

Metal products of small mass are sometimes fixed with vacuum suction cups. They will secure the shelf better and more firmly.

I, like any normal girl (woman), love to litter the space around me with all sorts of necessary (and, as it turns out later, not very necessary) jars, flasks, tubes and boxes... And I periodically have the question of where all this countless It's a shame to bet!

And we recently moved! And, of course, this question became acute! Especially in the bathroom!

Well, where do you want to put all these shampoos, gels, scrubs, balms, foams, soaps, machines and washcloths?!

Right! Need a shelf!

I just needed a shelf NOT SIMPLE, A GOLDEN so that you don't have to drill into the walls!

You can consider this my whim, but, in principle, I don’t like making any extra holes in the walls, and here we have plastic panels.... Moreover, I wanted to somehow do without a drill and a drill, without a hammer and a nail... Well, I think you understand me?!

What to do? Well, don’t stick it on with glue!

And so, go ahead and catch my eye on this shelf!

I won’t say that it immediately inspired my confidence, but I already liked the idea of attaching shelves to a telescopic pipe!

And I bought it! It cost me about 500 rubles.

Well, I think I'll at least try! I'll give her a chance! And what? But what if?! What if it can withstand the load!

Now, closer to the topic!

Shelf made in Turkey. If anyone is interested in this information!

In the box I found a set of tubes, two plastic clamps, four corner shelves, two soap dishes and a bunch of some small parts in a bag!

I think it makes no sense to dwell on these details in detail.

Completeness can be seen on the box! Everything is detailed there.

The assembly diagram is also clearly reflected on the box.

In short, the assembly looks like this:

Two special clamps are glued to the wall, which, as I understand it, are necessary for additional fixation of the pipe!

According to the instructions, in in the right place The spring is inserted and that's it!

Place the pipe with shelves on the corner of the bathtub! It rests on the ceiling and is fixed to the wall with the same clamps for reliability!

VOILA! The shelf is installed!

You can be proud of yourself! We did such a complex installation ourselves! Without my husband's help! Without a hammer, without a drill, without glue, without nerves, in the end! YOU ARE WELL DONE!

Yes, I forgot to say, you may even have some extra details left! Don't be surprised, we have - from PROFESSIONALS - this is a common thing!

I have some left!

Self-tapping screws with dowels!

I don't know why these are included!

There are extra pieces of pipe left. Well, here, everything is clear! You adjust it to the height of your ceiling! Ours is not high, so we even had to cut off one of the lower tubes in order to install the pipe by surprise!
