Why is the water in the river red? Red water. What to do in a situation where there is red water in the pool, but you don’t want to drain it

A beautiful and neat appearance attracts people, brings good luck and helps maintain a good mood. Therefore, every person takes care of the condition of their hair, nails and looks after their skin.

Daily washing and routine hygiene procedures that help keep the body clean can sometimes cause facial redness.

Causes of facial redness

The issue of changing skin color arises in the mind of a person who is worried about his appearance and health.

There may be several reasons for facial redness after washing:

  1. First, allergic reactions:
    • on components contained in water. To purify water supplied through centralized sources, chlorine is also used, which can cause irritation to sensitive skin.
    • for cleansers. Tonics, lotions, soaps, gels have a composition that may not be suitable for your skin type.
    • for detergents for towels. After washing, try not to wipe your face and pay attention to the presence or absence of redness. Perhaps powders or washing gels are not thoroughly rinsed out of towels, and the skin of the face turns red after using them.
  2. Secondly, skin diseases. Such serious problems can be identified by observing the time during which the face is red and the size of the spots covering the skin.
  3. Thirdly, diseases of internal organs. The skin on your face may turn red from water, then begin to peel and itch, causing additional discomfort. Such signs may indicate improper functioning of the liver or gallbladder.
  4. Problems with the nervous system can manifest as redness of the facial skin after washing.
  5. Finally, the face may turn red from too hot or cold water or strong mechanical impact when washing. In this case, the redness goes away quickly, does not leave a feeling of tightness and dryness of the skin, and is not accompanied by itching and burning.

If you notice that your face is turning red from water, consult a dermatologist or therapist. Competent specialists will be able to identify the exact cause of the spots, prescribe treatment, or simply explain that the redness does not pose any danger.

Red water is water containing dissolved iron.

Signs:

  • After washing, white clothes take on a reddish or yellow tint.
  • Rust stains appear on the sink and toilet
  • After a long break in using water, the first portion coming out of the tap is red.
  • In special cases, the water has a metallic taste.

Fig. 60 Consequences of using water with high iron content

Reasons for the formation of red water:

  • Corrosion of steel pipes and tanks
  • When water passes through iron deposits in the ground, it enters into a chemical reaction with it (dissolves it).
  • The content of acidic residue ions in water, even at normal pH values.

The red color of water occurs due to the presence of iron ions in the water. The reason for the brown color of the water is the content of iron and a small amount of manganese in it. Typically, oxygen in water is involved in biological and chemical processes as it passes through soil layers. This is the main reason for the lack of oxygen in groundwater, and iron ions will not be visible until they are oxidized to iron oxide. In wells, where the air above the surface of the water enriches it with oxygen, iron ions combine with oxygen and turn into iron oxide.

Fig.61 The membrane tank prevents air from contacting water

The iron ions will also come into contact with the oxygen present in the pressure tank, where there is an air cushion on top that exerts pressure on the surface of the water.

With a low iron content (0.3-1.5 ppm) in groundwater, its quality can be significantly improved in the following ways:

1. The upper part of the well must be well sealed (air access into it is prevented). In this case, the oxygen located above the surface of the water will be quickly absorbed by the water in the well. Only nitrogen and water evaporation remain, which do not oxidize iron ions.

2. Instead of a pressure tank, a membrane tank should be used. If there is a sealed membrane between water and air, iron will also not oxidize.

When using this method, the iron ions will not be subject to oxidation until the oxygen in the air mixes with the iron ions when the water comes out of the tap. The oxidation process of iron requires a certain time, so most of the ions will not have time to oxidize before the water enters the sewer system.

For better water treatment, a phosphate dispenser can be installed between the pump and the pressure tank. A phosphate dispenser is a device in which part of the water passes through a porous layer of phosphate. It can also be a liquid dispenser, similar to a water chlorination device.

Phosphate passivates iron ions so that they are not susceptible to oxidation.

Instead of a phosphate dispenser, you can use an ion exchange device, the operation of which was described in the section on hard water. An ion exchange device for extracting iron ions from water has a completely different type of ion exchange resin from the one used in water softening.

If the iron content in water exceeds 1.5 ppm, then it must undergo aeration and filtration processes to ensure the following processes:

  • oxidation of iron ions
  • ensuring precipitation of oxidized iron in the form of flakes

Fig.62 Phosphate dispenser device

There are many such systems on the market, but you can also make your own. Firstly, the aeration device must be built-in. This can be done using a small compressor that is turned on when the pump starts to move the water. The compressor enriches the pumped water with oxygen. After which, in a special zone, a reaction occurs between iron ions and oxygen. Further, in a place where the flow rate is reduced, oxidized iron ions will form flocs that precipitate. It is best to arrange such a sedimentary zone at the top of the filter tank.

Rice. 63 Filter washing

An automatic valve should be installed at the top of the tank to remove unused air. Flake rust can be easily removed using a filter.

You can make such a filter yourself. Porous expanded clay (or other similar inorganic material) is placed at the bottom of the tank. Next, small stones with a diameter of 10-20 mm are placed on this filter base, forming a layer of 15-20 cm. Then a layer of filter sand 60-80 cm is placed (particle diameter 0.9-1.4 mm).

Flake rust will be deposited on the surface of the filter, while unbound iron ions will be deposited 20-40 cm below in the sand layer.

The sand filter must be regularly cleaned of rust particles by pumping water to the bottom of the tank while aerating the water (backwashing). When the top valve is opened, the sand grains in the filter will begin to vibrate, causing loose rust particles and rust flakes to be flushed into the sewer system. After backwashing the filter, the water inlet at the bottom of the tank and the outlet at the top are closed, and the washed filter will begin to operate normally.

Red water - presence of iron bacteria

Signs

  • Formation of red sludge in sewer siphons
  • Filter screens in water taps may become clogged with silty rust.

Rice. 64 Consequences of iron bacteria in water

Cause

  • In a well or well there is an iron bacterium that spreads throughout the water supply system.

Iron bacteria can move from one place to another through the aquifer in which it is located, or through drilling equipment if the drill was previously in an infected well. The easiest way to check for iron bacteria in water is to open the lid of the toilet tank. If the bottom and walls of the tank have a muddy red coating, then perhaps this system is infected with iron bacteria.

Iron bacteria are found in iron found in water. If iron bacteria are found in the water, the water environment may be acidic. If this is indeed the case, the piping system will be susceptible to corrosion, resulting in rust stains in the sink, bathtub and other places.

Bodies of water across the globe are reportedly turning the color of blood, causing fear among the general public. People think that the end of times is approaching.

From sea to river, numerous bodies of water turn the color of blood throughout the night. Astonishing images of the incidents are surfacing on social media. A number of different groups point to the Bible prophecy of Revelation 16:4. Yet is there any other explanation for the unusual phenomena other than the impending apocalypse?

Recently, many reports indicate that seas around the globe are turning red. For example, The Washington Post reported one such incident in China. It happened on a river in the city of Wenzhou. Residents say they woke up to a strange sight of red water. There was no explanation for the phenomenon.

"Several people who were on the river at about 5 a.m. said everything was fine, but then suddenly within a few minutes the water began to darken and eventually turned completely red."

Wenzhou is the center of the Christian faith and many call it the Jerusalem of China. Some residents after the event pointed to a prophecy from the Christian Bible to explain the strange bloody waters.
While many believed the red river was a sign from heaven, the Chinese government says there is a simple explanation for the red waters. The local environmental department says tests show the water is an alarming shade of red due to illegal dumping. Probably artificial dyes from the clothing industry.

The Telegraph reported another strange incident that led to the closure of Sydney beaches in Australia. Tourists in the area initially feared that the blood was the result of a shark attack, but no such attack occurred. In fact, local officials noted that the blood red color was the result of an algae bloom in the area. Beaches were closed and several photos of the strange waters began circulating online.

According to the BBC, residents of the Pacific islands of Tonga were also surprised by the blood-red color of the seas. As in China, many in the region immediately began to fear that red tides were a sign of the end of times. However, as on Australian beaches, red tides have been attributed to red algae blooms. In fact, the same red tides occur once a year along the Florida Gulf Coast.

Although the strange phenomena have been attributed to illegal dumping of industrial waste and excessive red algae blooms in seas around the world, rumors continue to circulate on the Internet. And believers say that the end of times is approaching.

Messages like this can be found all over the Internet:
"THE WATER has turned blood red - Wake up!!! People, we see before us omens from the Book of Revelations. The highest judgment on Earth is approaching!!! Waters around the world are turning blood red!!!"

What do you think? Are you worried that bodies of water around the globe are turning blood red?

The Bible says that the rivers will become red as blood (Rev. 8:6-13), apparently this time has come. From 2010 to the present day, the water has deteriorated, disappearing in places, and sometimes turning red like blood. This process has already begun in many countries of the world: the USA, Antarctica, Australia, Iraq, China, Iran, Russia, etc.

The glaciers are melting, and red water pours out of them; a beautiful forest - and a river flows in it, terrible as blood. In television programs they either don’t talk about this or mention it casually, in passing. Probably so that people don’t know anything and, therefore, don’t understand that, apparently, the Apocalypse has really begun. And there is only time left for repentance to our Lord God, as well as for strengthening in faith before the terrible persecution of all Christians by the Antichrist, but not for various entertainments. If only many knew the truth about what is happening now (the planned introduction of plastic passports (after the adoption of which, as the elders prophesied, there is no turning back, but only the road to destruction!) and microchipping of the population, with the upcoming electronic concentration camp; which has appeared in different parts light red and strange water (see also); revealed apostasy in faith, apostasy, and the “fearfulness” of some bishops and priests, who, instead of standing firmly in the truth, are more afraid of the rulers of “this world” and even reject the very idea of restoration in Russia the power of the King - the Anointed of God; the construction of a single anti-Christ religion; the emergence of the monstrous; the earthquake that happened on Mount Athos and the growing cataclysms throughout the Earth; psychotronic radiation of HAARP; LHC and much more), and most importantly, they would realize the connection between all these events! Almost all of this is the work of not so much human hands as the Prince of Darkness himself, realized through the servants of the coming Antichrist. Understanding this, perhaps many would finally come to ardent faith and deep repentance, which can only hinder the growing changes in the world. But, knowing nothing, they continue to live in stupefied peace and idle complacency - to the endless “serials”, television concerts and the clumsy or extremely cynical “humor” of “Crooked Mirrors” and “Comedy Clubs”!

As one person wrote on the website of the Pochaev Lavra, “it’s painful to look at all this, your heart hurts, your soul worries, you just want to shout: “People, wake up!!! Stop sitting in front of the TV and becoming a zombie. Don’t laugh and don’t say that this is all nonsense and fairy tales; There is very little time left, repent while you still have it! Repent! Go to churches, confess and receive communion while it’s still possible!!!” You talk to many people and are surprised: after all, many still don’t know anything about plastic passports and the laser mark on the forehead that accompanies their receipt, or they think that this is still far away - it won’t happen soon; they know nothing about juvenile justice; They don’t know or suspect much. This is such a sad state of affairs, I want to cry - how can I reason with people? We need to tell as much as possible, maybe at least someone else will think about it, understand and be saved. God willing!” These are such heartfelt words... By the way, the youth Vyacheslav Krasheninnikov also spoke about the fact that the water will become thick and red, like blood, and will emit a stench, and it will be possible to drink it with great difficulty only after repeated boiling.

Red water in Henan.

Red water in Henan.

In the Black Sea near Sevastopol, the water near the shore turned red. In addition, dead fish are floating in Cossack Bay.

The Black Sea turned red

Vacationers are scared and afraid to swim in the strange water.

Even the old-timers don’t remember anything like this. In Cossack Bay, the water near the shore is red, and dead fish swim at the very edge.

“I went in for a dip, and there were some pink clumps,” Andrei, who came to relax on the beach with friends, told KP. - The color of the water didn’t scare me - on the contrary, I became curious what it was, so I climbed into the red waves. The water was cold, 18 degrees, although the other day the sea was +23...25°. And at a depth of three meters my legs actually cramped, there the temperature was still a couple of degrees lower. No itching or irritation on the skin, normal weight.

Other vacationers did not dare swim in the “red” sea.

The townspeople are alarmed: what if oil has spilled somewhere nearby? However, scientists explain it differently (well, they, as always, will find “explanations” - ed.)

Most likely, the sea turned red because of dinophyte algae, Lyudmila Kuzmenko, candidate of biological sciences at the Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas, told KP. - They bloom due to a sharp change in water temperature. To find out if it is toxic seaweed, you need to take a water sample. Red tides are the most dangerous for fish - they die because there is a lack of oxygen in the water.

According to Lyudmila Viktorovna, toxins released into the water by algae can accumulate in the bodies of fish and shellfish. If you eat them later, you can get poisoned...

Referring to data from the city authorities, Rabochaya Gazeta has already reported that this year builders will make Kiev residents happy with 22 more pump rooms, and there will be a total of 227. Recently, the head of the municipal services department, Mikhail SHPARIK, assured that the city will not refuse the construction of pump rooms in any way case.

- THESE“Environmentally clean drinking water,” as Mikhail Shparik calls it, is not at all cheap for the city. If we take into account that the average cost of a pump room complex is 400 thousand hryvnia, then the previous government hammered 82 million hryvnia into the ground in ten years. But this money could well have been used to develop a centralized water supply, as is done throughout the civilized world.

Yes, for that kind of money it would be possible to equip treatment plants near every house,” noted Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Ivan Saliy.

Isn’t it a paradox: there are no funds for the modernization of city water supply systems, but they are available for pump rooms, which, despite all their architectural merits, still completely threw the people of Kiev into the dense farm life, when people, straining themselves, carried water in buckets and pans to their eleventh floors.

How much water does a person need per day? The doctor will say that about two liters - just like our distant ancestors. But the deputy director of Kievvodokanal, Vladimir Brazhnik, gave a different figure - 374 liters.

With increasing living comfort, the total water consumption for each of us is growing rapidly. Over the last century it has increased tenfold in the city. A quarter of a century ago, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Igor Zektser warned: if you do not take care of new sources, then at the turn of the 21st century, the lack of fresh water will become the biggest problem. This is the strong opinion of scientists around the world. Already, water is increasingly becoming an export item.

And our valiant businessmen dug a couple of hundred artesian wells in Kyiv, from which underground water gushes day and night. And runs straight into the sewer. For example, on Nikolai Ushakov Street, residents of adjacent houses often wash their cars with pump water...

It would be good if the water in all wells was not only cold, but also of good quality. Where is it: often from some columns it flows with an odor, from others - cloudy blue, from others - with some strange aftertaste. For example, in the pump room on Uborevich Street there is an excess of manganese in the water. And it happens that filters deteriorate, as, say, in the pump room on the corner of Piterskaya and Petrovsky streets. Or during severe frosts, pipes burst - like in the pump room on the Wind Mountains.

And few people know that they still cannot put into operation the 19 wells built in previous years. Is it because the water quality there is poor?

“Rabochaya Gazeta” once already told how “cheerful” water flowed from the pump room that was once pompously opened by the ex-mayor on Anna Akhmatova Street. Workers at the regional sanitary and epidemiological station then explained to us: the water, they say, turns red there not from shame, but because it contains a lot of ammonia and iron. And they added: “It’s obvious they were drilling in the wrong place. And they did it hastily.”

That's right, the quality of artesian water often depends on competent drilling, according to Ukrsevgeologia specialists. Organizations that determine the drilling location often make gross technical miscalculations. Because of this, for example, they were unable, having squandered large amounts of budget money, to commission pump rooms on Putivlskaya and Chaadaev streets on time. And for many months in a row, a gray-brown-crimson liquid gushed out of them.

The architectural and construction danger posed by these wells is alarming. Architect Viktor Sudorogin, who designs the pump room complexes, literally instilled fear in everyone in a conversation with journalists, claiming that artesian wells could destroy Kyiv. Moreover, the horror story read: “Pump rooms are secret killers?”

By the way, let us remind you that pump rooms pump water from a depth of more than 150 meters, which is why the pressure in the chalk layers changes and over time large voids and caves are formed. So, all of Kyiv will supposedly fall into these voids over time. And the more pump rooms are built, the more intensively water is taken, the faster “time X” approaches. A sad prospect.

Although many Kiev residents, according to the architect, are indignant at why pump rooms are not built near every house. Viktor Sudorgin is even scared to imagine what will happen in half a century to the houses near which the pump rooms are built. After all, underground rivers wash away rocks, forming caves, the soil sags over time, which means Kyiv will be in danger of destruction.

At the dawn of the capital's pumping room, the famous Ukrainian scientist, director of the Institute of Colloid Chemistry and Water Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician Vladislav Goncharuk argued that it was untreated artesian water from great depths that was most beneficial for our body. But in order for people to drink water that is not contaminated with chemical impurities and other nasties, each well, after a thorough check, must have a quality certificate.

Moreover, according to the academician, it was the specialists of his institute who could carry out such important work. Of course, this requires substantial budgetary injections from the city treasury. By the way, the scientist’s commentary on the quality of the water we use was published by Rabochaya Gazeta on May 17, 2006 in the article “What kind of water do we drink?”

Deep waters are rich in minerals, their use without control “one heals, and another cripples.”

According to my observations,” says pump room architect Viktor Sudorogin, “people don’t even understand what they are drinking, despite the signs about the composition of the water posted at the pump rooms. In my opinion, pump water cannot be called drinking water, since it passes only through mechanical purification filters, but there are no biological filters. In addition, our people are destroying pump rooms at an enviable speed. This is understandable: they gave water for free.

Finally, the city fathers heard the sensible advice of Academician Goncharuk. After nine years of pumping, they decided to conduct an inventory of all active and mothballed artesian wells. And at the same time, solve for each of them separately the issues of sanitary safety and feasibility of operation. Wells that have become unusable must be plugged. And, it seems, there will also be a unified city pump room service at Kievvodokanal.

The conclusion is clear as day: it’s high time to put things in order in burying taxpayers’ money. And stop mocking the ancient land of the capital city.

If you dare to drink artesian water, then let’s create all the conditions so that it is healthy in all respects.

Afterword. In many cities of Ukraine there really are big problems with the quality of tap water. But the capital is not one of these cities. Moreover, experts claim that water flows from Kyiv taps, the quality of which is one of the best in the country. However, it is the residents of Kiev who are most outraged by their water supply. Paradox? No. These are just the destructive moral and psychological consequences of the nine-year pump room of the capital.

It’s a pity that pumping has cast doubt on the quality of our tap water,” complained Nina Telenkova, a doctor at the Kyiv City Sanitary and Epidemiological Station. - There is no such excellent water in Ukraine as in Kyiv. But we evaluate pump water according to the same parameters as ordinary tap water. And we do this in accordance with the old Soviet GOST-2874-82.

In general, according to experts, everything is not so simple with pump rooms. For example, a high column of water stagnates for a long time in the pipes of deep wells. Organoleptic indicators such as turbidity, a ferrous taste appear in it, and flakes begin to fall out. And this despite the fact that the pump rooms are fed with water from the underground horizons of the Cenomanian stage and the Jurassic period, which have been quite well studied and have been included in our menu since the end of the 19th century.

So do as you want. And you always want the best. You can't make a mistake when choosing.
