How to make a walk-behind tractor go faster video. What are the minimum and maximum speeds of the walk-behind tractor and how to regulate them

Many farmers are interested in how to increase the speed of a walk-behind tractor. The most common agricultural machinery is a walk-behind tractor. With its help, work on land and personal plots is greatly simplified. Let's look at how you can increase the speed of this technique. With increased speed, the performance and maneuverability of the mini-machine will increase, which can be used in any season and weather.

How to increase the speed of a walk-behind tractor

You can increase the speed of the walk-behind tractor in two ways:

  • installation of large wheels;
  • replacing a gear pair.

Let's first look at how changing wheels helps increase the speed of a motor cultivator. The standard wheel size of almost all mini-unit models is 57 cm. When replacing, you can install tires 1.2 times larger in diameter. Typically, wheels of 70.4 cm are used. Despite the small difference, the speed of the walk-behind tractor increases noticeably. If the arches into which the tires are inserted allow you to insert wheels with a larger diameter, then you can try adding centimeters.

When using a walk-behind tractor for cultivating land, lugs are used. These are wheels with iron plates that freely grip the ground or snow. They can be purchased in specialized stores, or you can make them yourself. Their size also affects the speed of movement of the unit.

Let's look at how to increase the speed on a walk-behind tractor using the second method. Like any equipment, the cultivator has several speeds, which are controlled using gears. Typically, cultivators move at a speed of 2 to 15 km/h, with the large gear having 61 teeth and the small gear having 12. To increase the speed, the gear pairs of the gearbox are replaced. We increase the number of teeth, thus achieving the maximum speed of the walk-behind tractor.

It is recommended that replacement be carried out by professionals and preferably in specialized centers, since parts machined with minimal error will affect the operation of the motor. It is important not only to replace the gear, but also to select the correct pulley.

How to make reverse gear on a walk-behind tractor

Let's look at how to make reverse gear on a walk-behind tractor. The presence of reverse depends on the model and dimensions of the mini-equipment. You can cultivate the land with a motor-cultivator, a light walk-behind tractor and a heavy unit. It all depends on your goals and objectives. Typically, when using models weighing up to 30 kg, there is no need for reverse speed, and it also complicates the design of the unit. On a heavy unit without this function it will be more difficult to perform work.

Without a gearbox, agricultural machinery will not move. It happens:

  • angular;
  • gear;
  • downward;
  • reverse gear.

The purpose of the bevel gearbox is to ensure that the transmission collides with the engine, which affects the power of the gearbox. The gear is the transmitter between the motor and the wheels. A reduction gearbox is used to reduce the speed to increase power.

The reverse mechanism has a clutch located between the gears. They are located on the main roller. The main task of this system is to ensure the reverse movement of the vehicle. For self-made For this mechanism, the first step is to prepare the body, for which many use a two-inch fitting square.

You can use a generator shaft from a Ural motorcycle. The gears will fit from the Druzhba chainsaw. You just need to drill a hole of the appropriate diameter in the shaft. On the opposite side, mount another gear shaft with bearings. And already on the weekend, install a pulley to ensure rotation.

A walk-behind tractor is an indispensable thing for farmers. Increasing the power of the walk-behind tractor allows you to increase the productivity of equipment and speed up agricultural work. You can improve your technique by: with my own hands, and purchasing the necessary equipment.

Increasing the power of the walk-behind tractor

You can increase the speed of the walk-behind tractor in the following ways:

  • replacing a gear pair;
  • installation of wheels with a large diameter.

Increasing the speed in the first way is sufficient difficult process. Therefore, without knowledge and skills in this area, it is better not to do this yourself and contact a special service center. If you have the necessary skills, you can make the replacement yourself.
Just like any other equipment, the walk-behind tractor has several speed modes controlled using gears. The walk-behind tractor moves at a speed of 2 to 15 km/h. The larger gear usually has 61 teeth, and the small one – 12. To increase the power of the walk-behind tractor, the gear pairs of the gearbox are replaced. Maximum speed can be achieved by increasing the number of teeth on the gear.

When replacing a gear, be sure to select the correct pulley. At incorrect selection pulley, the walk-behind tractor may stop working.

How to make a walk-behind tractor go faster by changing wheels? For motor cultivators standard size wheels 57 centimeters.

To increase the speed, you can install tires with a diameter of 70.4 cm; such a replacement will help speed up the process several times. If the arches in which the tires are placed allow the installation of wheels with a larger diameter, you can try to increase them by a few more centimeters.

Increasing cross-country ability and improving the walk-behind tractor

So, how to improve a motor cultivator with the help of weights. You can buy them or make and install them yourself. Weights are installed on the frame and wheels. Wheel weights are made of solid profiles and steel wheels. The body is weighted using special removable frames and a corner. Loads with different weights and configurations are attached to the frame.

So, sometimes you need to make a motor cultivator quite heavy, you can use reinforced concrete products.

Such loads can load the walk-behind tractor quite well. With the help of such simple devices, the range of application of technology is significantly expanded.

You can increase the capabilities of a walk-behind tractor and turn it into a snowmobile using tracks. To do this, you just need to install an additional axle with wheels and buy wide rubber tracks. On inner part Tracks have stops attached to them to prevent them from slipping off the wheels. Such a snowmobile will be useful on the farm in winter, when it is difficult to drive a car through huge snowdrifts, and in spring, when the ground is still too wet and the terrain is impassable for other equipment.

Replenish homemade snowmobile You can use a sleigh to transport property or go fishing or hunting.

How to increase the power of a walk-behind tractor using reverse speed

Setting the reverse speed on a walk-behind tractor is another way to improve the walk-behind tractor. The presence of reverse depends on the sizes and models. It can work on any type of equipment, it all depends on the tasks assigned to the equipment, be it a light or heavy walk-behind tractor, or a motor-cultivator. For equipment weighing up to 30 kg, there is no need for reverse speed, but on a heavier unit it is more difficult to weed without it.

Gearboxes are:

  • gear;
  • reverse gear;
  • angular;
  • downward

A gear reducer is a transmitter that operates between the wheels and the motor. The reverse gearbox consists of a clutch located between the gears and located on the main shaft. The corner is responsible for the operation of the transmission with the engine, which affects power. The reduction gearbox is responsible for reducing the speed, which helps increase power. The main task of this system is to provide reverse gear.
To make this mechanism at home, you first need to make the case. Then pick up necessary details. But it’s better to buy a ready-made gearbox.

Additional accessories

Walk-behind tractors are sold with a minimum number of components. However, a standard plow is not enough to perform all agricultural work. How to improve a motor cultivator using scrap materials? With the help of tools that are found in every home, you can expand the capabilities of the walk-behind tractor.
Equipment that you can make yourself:

Plows for walk-behind tractors

Another device for cultivating soil using a walk-behind tractor is a plow.

The following types of plows are distinguished:

  1. The easiest to use is the single-hull one, also known as the Zykov plow.
  2. Reversible plow for walk-behind tractor: rotary or reversible. The upper part has a curved feather, which turns the soil over during plowing. Universal device, which easily copes with plowing heavy soils. Quickly copes with the treatment of areas with clay and marshy soil.
  3. The rotary plow for a walk-behind tractor has complex design. Depending on the number of ploughshares, there are two-body and three-body models. Active plowshares dump soil in one direction only, while passive plowshares level the beds and lift them. Tilling the soil with such a plow has a number of advantages: the soil is maximally saturated with oxygen; tire wear and fuel consumption are reduced; after processing there are no large clods of earth left.
  4. A rotary plow for a walk-behind tractor gives unlimited possibilities. During operation, the axis rotates, and with it the soil layers. It easily plows even very hard soil at a depth of about 30 centimeters. There are paddle, drum, shovel and auger plows. Devices of the first type are equipped with a rigid pusher and can consist of a spring plate or be combined. Units of the second type are equipped with a disk with blades that rotate during operation. Plow with disk knife for a walk-behind tractor is suitable for work in early spring; it copes well with wet soil.

Any of the above plows can be made independently, taking into account design features and following instructions and diagrams. You can also improve an already purchased plow.

A rotary reversible plow for a walk-behind tractor copes with the processing of plots most efficiently, thanks to the optimization of the plowing process. And it is most in demand among agricultural workers.

Thanks to the expansion of capabilities, the walk-behind tractor becomes universal. It can be used to solve a variety of tasks from field work to snow removal in winter.

Video about 5 rules for increasing the power of a walk-behind tractor engine

More and more gardeners today are asking the question: how to tune a walk-behind tractor with your own hands? After all, if you turn to specialists in this matter, this can entail large financial costs. Ultimately, remaking a walk-behind tractor can even cost much more than purchasing a new unit.

But there are several available options, which allow you to tune the walk-behind tractor with your own hands minimal costs funds and time.

Improved engine performance

How to increase the speed of a walk-behind tractor? In this regard, nothing can be radically changed, since it’s all about the engine’s performance. To improve its performance, it is necessary to lubricate the main parts of the engine as often as possible. But the main thing is to change the oil in a timely manner. If this is not done, the engine (and with it the walk-behind tractor) will quickly fail.

If you often have to work in cold or extreme heat, Special attention should be given to candles. The speed and overall efficiency of the engine largely depend on their quality. In order for the walk-behind tractor to plow more soil in an hour, you should replace the old spark plugs with new ones of better quality. This will make it possible to start the unit faster and protect the car from overheating or freezing.

Equipment for removing snow and hay

In the walk-behind tractor, you can additionally make a device for collecting hay. This is especially convenient for large farms. After all, with limited funds, it is almost impossible to buy a special machine for this purpose.

To do this you will need old pipes and a plate. In general, everything will somewhat resemble a large rake. The parts are connected using welding machine. It is necessary to secure the pins and pipes to a powerful thick plate so that it looks like a rake. It is best to use thin metal pipes. The lighter and stronger they are, the better.

The resulting addition is attached to the back of the walk-behind tractor near the motor. If you have to work with the unit in large fields with significant volumes of hay, then it is advisable to make an additional axle with wheels. This will increase the efficiency of work per hour.

Some owners country houses really need a good one snowblower. But it costs a lot of money, and most often there is nowhere to put it. Then the question arises about improving the old walk-behind tractor for a snowmobile. This is very convenient, since you can deal with even large volumes of accumulated snow in a matter of minutes. This is especially true for the northern regions, where winters are very harsh.

Upgrading a walk-behind tractor for a snowmobile is extremely simple. It will be necessary to purchase only tracks that will allow the unit to move freely even through deep snowdrifts. Tracks can be attached temporarily instead of wheels. You can also attach them to the unit so that you don’t have to remove them later in the summer. Here everything depends on the specific model of the walk-behind tractor. And in order for the machine to not only move through the snow, but also remove it, a shovel must be secured in the front using a hook for trailers. It is best to choose a large deep shovel if you plan to remove snowdrifts. And while attaching, make sure that it stays tightly on the hooks and does not move. Otherwise, snow removal will only cause additional trouble.

Conversion into an all-terrain vehicle and trailer mount

If the region is characterized not only by severe winters, but also by humid clay soils and swampy terrain, then it would be more reasonable to upgrade the walk-behind tractor into an all-terrain vehicle. This will allow you to work with the unit in any weather and on any soil. In order for such a modernization to be carried out successfully, several important recommendations must be taken into account.

The basis of this improvement is a special frame with not two, but four wheels. It is 4 powerful wheels that will allow the unit to move without much effort. Please note that the rotational motion to these wheels must be transmitted to the rear axle through the driveshaft. If the transmission goes to the front axle, then nothing good will come of such a modification.

The walk-behind tractor body itself is attached to such a wheel base by ordinary welding. Just weld the parts carefully and in several places so that nothing falls off during the work. Such a simple modification allows you to get a super walk-behind tractor, which in appearance will somewhat resemble a small ATV or even a mini-tractor.

The most common way to modernize old walk-behind tractors is to attach trailers to them. This is enough convenient thing. After all, the trailer makes it possible to use the unit not only as a machine for removing snow, hay or for cultivating soil, but also as a separate vehicle for transportation of medium and large loads.

This modernization of the walk-behind tractor involves attaching a trailer to it. This is done using a fairly rigid coupling method. It is extremely important to maintain the center of gravity during operation. After all, its minimal incorrect displacement will lead to the fact that it will simply be impossible to transport cargo in a trailer, since the unit will always turn over along with the trailer. The center of gravity must move back a little. It is also recommended to install a differential to increase the maneuverability of the mini-tractor and attach special bushings in front, which will slightly increase the width of the front axle.

Conclusion on the topic

So, modification of a walk-behind tractor for agricultural work can be done with your own hands without involving specialists and spending large sums of money. Money. But this work must be carried out extremely carefully so that the main parts of the unit are not damaged. Then the modernized walk-behind tractor can be used for completely different purposes, without resorting to the purchase of expensive additional devices.

In a large farm, each type of work uses its own equipment, specializing in performing certain operations. For private owners or small farms, this approach is too wasteful. They want one versatile and inexpensive machine - a jack of all trades. Walk-behind tractors satisfy these requirements. A walk-behind tractor is a universal mobile mechanized tool for performing agricultural and other work. To his distinctive features includes a gasoline or diesel engine, the presence of only one wheel axle (there are walk-behind tractors with an additional wheel), which sets the walk-behind tractor in motion, and a large number of replaceable attachments doing possible implementation the most varied types of work.

Purpose

Walk-behind tractors are designed primarily for soil cultivation - plowing, cultivating, hilling, harrowing, cutting furrows, planting and harvesting crops, etc. - on relatively small (up to 3-4 hectares) areas. However, with their help, using various attachments, you can perform many other jobs - mowing grass, mowing lawns, digging ditches, sweeping areas, transporting goods, removing snow, pumping water, etc. As a drive, the walk-behind tractor can be used for almost any mechanism designed to perform agricultural, construction and household work.

In terms of its functions and capabilities, the walk-behind tractor occupies an intermediate position between a motor-cultivator and a mini-tractor. Unlike the first walk-behind tractor, it is universal machine and carries out work due to the traction force created by the engine on the drive wheels, while a motor cultivator is a highly specialized device intended mainly only for cultivation - i.e. loosening the surface layer of soil without turning it over.

The main difference between a walk-behind tractor and a tractor is the presence of only one axle and the absence of a seat for the operator, who, when working, holds the walk-behind tractor by the handles and walks behind him. It should be borne in mind that by equipping the walk-behind tractor with a trailer, you can operate it while sitting on a special seat. In addition, there are models of super-heavy walk-behind tractors equipped with a third wheel and a seat, which, in essence, are a hybrid of a walk-behind tractor and a mini tractor.

Classification

Basically, walk-behind tractors are classified by engine power. This classification is quite arbitrary, interpreted by many in their own way. Sometimes classifications are given that divide walk-behind tractors into 3 or even 4 classes. At the same time, the group of walk-behind tractors also includes walk-behind tractors that belong to the light class of devices. If we consider walk-behind tractors as a separate class of machines (which they inherently are), then it is advisable to divide them into only two classes - light (5.5-6.5 hp) and heavy (over 7 hp). It should be borne in mind that even light walk-behind tractors cannot weigh less than 50-60 kg, since, being too light, they will not be able to perform their functions due to wheel slippage. The heavier and more powerful the walk-behind tractor, the greater the guarantee that it will cultivate the soil to a sufficient depth, regardless of its properties.

Perhaps it makes sense to identify another class of super-heavy walk-behind tractors, which can include machines with a power of over 10 hp, equipped with a seat and a third wheel. Like a 12 hp CROSSER CR-M12E walk-behind tractor.

Walk-behind tractors can be classified by engine type - gasoline or diesel. Their difference is due to the known differences between gasoline and diesel engines. The latter is more economical in terms of fuel consumption, produces more torque with the same power, is more durable and reliable. In turn, a gasoline engine has less weight, produces less noise, and contains much less soot in the exhaust.

Sometimes walk-behind tractors are divided into amateur and professional. The first include light machines with a power of 5.5-7 hp. With gasoline engine. Professional models are heavy walk-behind tractors, equipped mainly with diesel engines.

Operational and technical characteristics of walk-behind tractors

Speed. The speed range of the walk-behind tractor depends on the number of gears. The operating speed usually ranges from 2-4 km/h. The maximum for 2-3-speed models is 10-15 km/h, for 6-speed models, when driving with a trailer, it can reach more than 30 km/h.

Engine. Walk-behind tractors are equipped with gasoline and diesel engines. They can be two-stroke (in older models) or four-stroke. Power varies between 5-12 hp. Engine cooling is mainly air-cooled; only super-heavy walk-behind tractors use liquid (water) cooling. Starting is done with a manual starter or electric starter (for heavy models). In the latter cases, walk-behind tractors are equipped with a battery.

Transmission. Gearboxes are very diverse: gear, chain and belt drives are used. The gearbox can be dismountable or non-dismountable (maintenance-free). If a maintenance-free gearbox fails, it is better to replace it with a new one, not the gearbox, but the walk-behind tractor. This is due to the fact that walk-behind tractors with non-separable gearboxes have simplified non-lined motors, the planned life of which does not exceed the planned life of the gearbox.

The number of speeds can be from 1st forward and 1st reverse to 6 forward and 2 reverse. Most models are equipped with a disc (dry or oil) friction clutch. Sometimes a belt drive with a tension roller is used as a clutch.

For maneuvering and turning, walk-behind tractors are equipped with a mechanism that disables one of the wheels or a differential that ensures the wheels rotate at different speeds.

To drive working parts (an active cutter, for example) and trailing mechanisms, walk-behind tractors have one or two power take-off shafts, which can be dependent (begin to rotate when the clutch is engaged) and independent (receive rotation directly from the engine).

In many models, the distance between the wheels can be adjusted, thereby changing the track width. To increase the adhesion of the wheels to the ground, the weight of the walk-behind tractor can be increased by installing special ballast on the wheels. Manufacturers often equip walk-behind tractors with an additional pair of metal wheels with lugs, installed to increase traction with the soil.

Control. The walk-behind tractor is controlled by two handles, which can be adjusted in height and rotation angle in the horizontal plane. The most modern and ergonomic models have an anti-vibration system that reduces the level of vibration transmitted to the handles. The operation of the engine, clutch and gearbox (speed shifting) is controlled using controls located on the handles or in their area.

Weight. The weight of walk-behind tractors varies widely - from 50 to 200 kg or more.

Below are specifications walk-behind tractors belonging to the light, heavy and super-heavy classes: Salyut 5L 6.5 (Russia), Kipor KDT 910E (China) and Crosser CR-M12E (England).

Attachments for walk-behind tractors

A large number of different attachments are produced for walk-behind tractors. First of all, these are attachments for tillage.

Plows of all types are intended for plowing with inversion of the layer of both cultivated and virgin soils.

Mounted cutters for walk-behind tractors are used to loosen the earth without turning over. Depending on the rotation speed and diameter of the cutters, deep (replacing plowing) or surface loosening can be performed.

Okuchniki, in accordance with their name, are intended for hilling beds. They can be simple or disk.

Potato planter, which is a container on wheels, is equipped with a furrow cutter and hiller. The first one cuts a furrow, potatoes fall into it from the container at a given step, and the hiller covers it with earth.

Seeder It works on a similar principle, only instead of potatoes, seeds of various crops are sown in the furrows - garlic, onions, tomatoes, carrots, etc. The design of seeders depends on the type of seeds and the method of planting them.

Vegetable seeder for walk-behind tractor. Several of these seeders can be installed on a walk-behind tractor at once.

The walk-behind tractor can be used as a drive device not only for tillage mechanisms. Various attachments for walk-behind tractors are produced, allowing you to perform many other jobs.

Chopper, driven by a walk-behind tractor, is very convenient for processing into compost or recycling any garden waste - tree branches, shrubs, hard grass stems, etc.

Trailers to the walk-behind tractor - very useful devices that can replace much more expensive cargo vehicles. With their help, they transport cargo weighing from 300 to 1000 kg. Of course, to transport 1 ton, the power of the walk-behind tractor must be appropriate. The body of trailers is usually tipper or tipper. Trailers are equipped with a seat for the operator and, in some cases, a braking system and lights.

You can make a seat for a walk-behind tractor without a trailer; for this, a seat with two wheels is attached to the walk-behind tractor.

With the help of a special dump shovels You can remove debris or snow.

It also helps keep the area clean by removing small debris or loose snow. Snow blowers for walk-behind tractors are also sold for snow removal.

Mowers- rotary and segmental - used for cutting grass when making hay. The opinion of users of walk-behind tractors is unanimous - the rotary scythe is superior in almost all respects to the segmented scythe, which copes satisfactorily only with level, sparse grass and grain crops.

Can be used in combination with mowers hay turner, used for high-quality drying of grass.

There are other devices driven by a walk-behind tractor. Water pumps, lumber processing mechanisms, trenchers, electric generators, drills and much more.

Choosing a walk-behind tractor

As with any mechanism, the truth is true with regard to the walk-behind tractor - choice optimal model device is determined by the nature of the work it has to perform.

The main selection criterion is the power of the walk-behind tractor. If it is purchased primarily for cultivating the land, the selection should be based on the area of the cultivated area and the quality of the soil on it. You can often find such a relationship between the area of a plot and the power of a walk-behind tractor for processing it.

However, this data may be considered outdated. Buy a walk-behind tractor (not a walk-behind cultivator!) with a power of less than 5-6 hp. inappropriate. Yes, and it’s impossible, because they are simply not on sale. And even if you come across a walk-behind tractor with a power of 4 hp, for example, then this power will clearly not be enough to cultivate the soil with the required quality.

The most common are light walk-behind tractors with a power of 6-6.5 hp. and weighing 60-80 kg. Such a walk-behind tractor is suitable if the size of the plot does not exceed 1-2 hectares, and the soil on it is quite light, loosened by previous treatments. For heavy loamy soils, a 6 hp walk-behind tractor. with a plowing depth of 25-30 cm, the plow will not pull. You will have to reduce the plowing depth. If shallow plowing is not suitable for the owner of the plot, he will have no choice but to choose a walk-behind tractor with a power of 7-8 hp. and weighing more than 100 kg.

The next criterion when choosing should be the name of the manufacturer. Reliable technology They are produced by European companies - German, Italian, English. Less reliable, but cheaper - domestic and Chinese. But there is a compromise option - for example, an engine from a Japanese company is installed on the Russian model.

When purchasing, you must take into account the availability service centers. To avoid problems with repairs and purchasing spare parts, preference should be given to those companies that have a developed service network in Russia.

When choosing a specific model, you need to pay attention to its functionality - the presence of a power take-off shaft or shafts, the number of gears, the presence of a differential, etc. If the equipment is expected to be used frequently when transporting goods over relatively long distances, preference should be given to multi-speed models that can reach speeds of over 30 km/h on a flat road.

When choosing a walk-behind tractor, you need to look at what equipment is included in the basic package and what can be purchased for an additional fee.

Fuel consumption is not such a significant factor. It is approximately the same for all manufacturers, and if it differs, then this difference is not so big that it is worth paying attention to.

Zhenya Nosov: what is the native maximum speed of this walk-behind tractor?

Andrey Shamin: A variator with a hydraulic cylinder will solve the problem of speeds - like a scooter - it will move from the smallest diameter to the largest

Sergey Polza: I’ve seen a collective farm, but I’ve never seen anything like this!

Victor Pchola: Pulleys up to the flywheel for sale Three-ribbed pulley for R195 engine 130mm

Dmitry Bubnov: Yuri, hello, I have a foreman at 10 l/s and when you swing the flywheel forward or backward in the direction of travel, you hear a knock, but when you insert the handle to start and pump the flywheel in the same way, there is no knock, tell me what could be

Vasil Mazkovy: I want to enlarge the pulley, but would a 140 mm 3-way pulley be suitable for mounting the flywheel?
These are available in online stores!

Sanya stock: Denis Denis you are confusing Yuri, he said everything correctly

Oleg Sam: Yuri Hello! Off-topic question, you may have come across this. The left clutch does not disengage. Last time When I used the walk-behind tractor, everything was fine. And then I got ready to go, but the clutch did not release, I tapped it with a hammer, moved a little, I squeezed it out, it was clamped again.

Alexey Timofeev: I have a Neva MB2 and I’m struggling with a decrease in speed.. you mean I need to reduce the speed on the driven pulley from the drive pulley.. do I need to reduce the standard pulley? otherwise the digger is shaking a lot, I need to reduce the speed of the engine?????? what should I do?

Nikolay K: for our roads and what we have. I rarely turn on 6

Igor Susla: Yura, help me solve the problem. I have a centaur minivan with 8 hp, the garden is a little downhill, and when milling it doesn’t have enough strength, at full throttle it barely pulls and smokes like a steam locomotive, this is at a depth of 12-13 cm, but on level ground it’s more or less normal , they advised to change the pulley to 110 mm.
But is it better to have more or less rpm of the cutter? When is the load on the engine less?

Andrey Pilko: hi, can you tell me why my belt turns over?

Lyoshka Razdobarov: IT’S STRANGE THAT the Chinese initially didn’t make asymmetrical pulleys; it would have been cooler. How about the alignment? They didn’t add it to the clutch? Or does it not affect such lengths?

Ruslam Savchin: I bought a new bison Q 78, after using it for about 1.5 years, changing the oil with a new one after a few changes, the sellers said after the first change, they change it once a season

Andrey Alexandrovich: Hello, Yuri. Tell me why, when loaded, the walk-behind tractor moves to the left? It's easy to turn left while driving. The unlockers were turned off. The walk-behind tractor is just like yours.

Volodya PALMER Kulibin: cool idea

Vitaly Kachkovsky: they did it in vain.

How to increase the speed of a walk-behind tractor

I wanted to go for a quick ride. This is not needed for work. and driving at higher speeds puts extra stress on the engine. on a country road you'll shake out your guts.

Kadik: Yura. I agree with you. For us, the LEADING one is the flywheel, accordingly, the Leading one (on the flywheel) is less - we will increase the thrust, we will reduce the speed. The Leading one (on the flywheel) is more, we will increase the speed. We will reduce the thrust.

Anatoly Balanuk: How do you find traction? more less?

Many gardeners have small equipment on their property. They are often interested in the question: how to make weights for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands.

A walk-behind tractor is an indispensable equipment for a gardener

The walk-behind tractor is similar in design to a tractor, but with one axle. This is a device that you cannot do without when cultivating the soil. The term walk-behind tractor began to be used more often in the 80s; previously this technique was called a walking tractor or a single-axle tractor. It makes the monotony much easier handmade for loosening the soil for planting various garden crops. In addition, the walk-behind tractor can perform several functions at a low cost. This equipment works like this: man walking following the walk-behind tractor, steering the steering wheel.

Walk-behind tractors are divided into wheeled and motor-cultivators. They are distinguished by the method of aggregation. The first one is switched into operating mode when the wheeled chassis moves. In the second, the wheel part is replaced by a milling cutter.

This equipment has a gasoline or diesel engine that drives the unit, and a wheel pair. For field work, you may need other devices that are connected through the towbar of the walk-behind tractor.

Why do we need weights?

When processing some areas of the field, for example, when harrowing or plowing plowed land on sloping terrain, on hard ground, it can be difficult to work due to slipping. The fact is that to ensure reliable traction of the wheels, the weight of the walk-behind tractor is not enough, because it is a small-sized device. To solve this problem, you have to install weights on the walk-behind tractor - on the wheels or lugs. Additional weight, the so-called ballast load, increases the weight of the walk-behind tractor. This is especially necessary when using a walk-behind tractor with a plow, for a motor-cultivator, which are mostly sold without attachments. Sometimes provision is made for the installation of front ballast to balance the center of gravity.

Weighting helps make the walk-behind tractor easier to control. In this case, the traction properties of the walk-behind tractor increase and the weight distribution improves. different parts equipment. For wheel pairs, disc weights are used, for other parts - plate or bars.

How to make weights yourself

To make weights for walk-behind tractor wheels, all you need is desire, a minimum of material and time. There are no particular difficulties here. It is necessary to prepare the future details of this device:

  • 2 five-kilogram weights;
  • 2 ten-kilogram pancakes;
  • 2 clutch baskets from Zhiguli;
  • hexagonal solid profile (piece);
  • walk-behind cotter pins (2 pcs.).

All this may be lying around at a collection point for old scrap. You can’t do without a welding machine with electrodes, a grinder with a cutting wheel, and a drill with drill bits. Well, to give the device an aesthetic appearance, you should stock up on paint.

Manufacturing:

2 pieces are cut from the hexagonal profile, about 5 cm in size. You will need to drill holes in them for the cotter pins. Then this segment is attached to the barbell plate. The hexagon is inserted into the hole from the neck and welded.

Then you will need to attach the clutch basket to the plate. For this, welding is used - scalding around the circumference of the flywheel.

Increasing the power of the walk-behind tractor will allow you to use the unit as efficiently as possible

After this, you need to attach a weight to the clutch. Now all that remains is to paint everything and let the paint dry.

The same is done to make a weighting agent for another wheel. As a result, the walk-behind tractor will become 50 kg heavier.

The internal hole of the walk-behind tractor axle can accommodate a hexagonal mount, so the weights made can be easily attached there. To mount the weights, a hole for the cotter pin is drilled in the axle. Now the weights are ready to be installed on the wheel. The cotter pin will not fall out if it is secured with steel wire.

If there are few wheel weights, you can add weight to the body of the walk-behind tractor.

To do this, they cook the frame and attach it to the frame of the walk-behind tractor. You can find a pancake that weighs at least 25 kg, weld it and secure it with a bolt. Important condition- cut a hole in the frame so that the oil can be drained from the engine. This design can be welded from an angle profile and have the shape of a box.

Conclusion on the topic

Weights for walk-behind tractors can also be purchased at specialized points of sale. It is more economical to make such devices yourself, especially since it is not difficult. You will only need necessary tools and materials. This way you will get additional and cheap equipment for a simple garden mechanism.

By installing them, you will acquire a compact and easy-to-use assistant for working on the ground.

DESIGN FEATURES.

The universal heavy-class walk-behind tractor "Agro" produced by the Ufa Engine Production Association belongs to professional type walk-behind tractors. The weight of 160 kg and the eight-horsepower engine and gear reduction speak for themselves.

The walk-behind tractor is made according to the classic single-axle design with a power take-off shaft. The domestic engine UMZ-341 is gasoline, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, with a power of 5.9 kW (8 hp) at 3600 rpm.

The engine lubrication system is such that the oil does not splash here, but, after being filtered in replaceable filter automobile type, is supplied under pressure to the rubbing parts by an oil pump.
Two types of oil are required - motor oil (1.2 liters in the engine crankcase) and transmission oil (2.5 liters). Initially the engine was designed for 76 gasoline, but there is methodological instructions from the manufacturer, how to convert the engine to 92 gasoline.

Detailed technical characteristics of the UMZ-341 engine

The transmission includes a dry bevel clutch, a gear reduction and a positive locking differential, which provides this heavy machine with excellent maneuverability. The gearbox, final drive and differential are housed in one housing. In addition, a PTO and gear shift mechanism are also mounted in it.

Engaging the differential ensures rotation of the drive wheels at different angular speeds, which is necessary when turning the walk-behind tractor and when driving on uneven roads.

The gearbox is four-speed, with reverse. It withstands heavy duty and shock loads well and has a power take-off shaft. True, when reverse gear is engaged, only second and fourth gears are available, but they operate in a “lower” version - the rotation speed is approximately halved.

The steering column can be easily installed at various angles, both vertically and horizontally (plus or minus 30 degrees) and can even be rotated 180 degrees, which allows you to conveniently control the walk-behind tractor when moving “back to front” - for example, when mowing or clearing snow.

When cultivating, an active rotary rotary cutter (122 mm in depth and 440 mm in width) or a special mounted harrow-type ripper with four long blade teeth is used. The plow allows plowing to a depth of 200 mm. Track width - 500-700 mm. With a transport trolley, the walk-behind tractor can transport 500 kg of cargo at a maximum speed of 15 km/h.

But the dimensions of the “Agro” are not small - 1700x850x1100 mm, however, for its class - a heavy, professional walk-behind tractor - they are quite acceptable.

Attachments for the Agro walk-behind tractor.

This machine is for large farms or public utilities, capable of cultivating, plowing, cutting ridges, hilling, harrowing, transporting cargo, cutting grass, throwing snow.

This positioning is also facilitated by a wide range of attachments - these are wheels with pneumatic tires (supplied as a set, which is natural for such a heavy machine), as well as a rotary tiller, a front mower (two modifications - KN-1, KN-1.5), plows - dumps ( various sizes), NPD digger, double-row plow-hiller STV, harrow, harrow-cultivator, several types of lugs, transport cart PTM-500 and snow thrower, which can be purchased additionally. In addition, there is a universal hitch on sale - it allows you to use attachments from other manufacturers on Agro.

A cooperation agreement signed between the Ufa Engine Production Association, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Ufa-Mechanika company gives new life to Agro walk-behind tractors.

Motoblocks "Agro" have been produced at OJSC "Ufa Engine Production Association" since the late 90s. However, due to the increase in the volume of work of UMPO in the main - aviation - direction, the production of walk-behind tractors is planned to be transferred to another enterprise in Bashkortostan - Ufa-Mechanika LLC. “The transfer of the production of consumer goods (consumer goods), which includes the Agro walk-behind tractor, to the production of the Ufa-Mechanika company is due to the need to streamline the company’s product line by excluding non-core products.

Since the heavy Agro walk-behind tractor is in great demand on the Russian market, a decision was made not to stop production, but to transfer it to partners in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.”

Karakat from a walk-behind tractor

A fairly simple caracat with an engine from a Neva walk-behind tractor. In fact, this is a tractor, since it was planned to also cultivate the land on it. But I also wanted to ride off-road, so tube wheels were made. The caracat was not tested for buoyancy, but most likely it does not float as it is not small and the wheels are small. Wheels from some kind of cart from agricultural machinery. The speed is low and there are two standard gears of the walk-behind tractor gearbox. But in deep snow, although it is difficult, it goes. Before snow cover overcomes up to 50cm. The second gear is more for knurled roads and hard ground.

The engine, although sometimes weak, is trouble-free.

The frame is welded from pipes, angles, in general, nothing was thought out from the beginning, so I figured it out, looked at what and how I could based on the available scrap metal and began to weld, cut and drill.

The rear-wheel drive is the same as the front-wheel drive, without a differential. The bearings have a solid axle with a sprocket, to which goes a chain from a gearbox made from a Voskhod rear drum with standard brakes, it turned out to be easier to do this way and there are brakes. The bearing holders are homemade, machined for 306 bearings.

The Karakat front axle is assembled from the chassis from a VAZ2108, shortened axle shafts are welded into a solid shaft, and standard hubs for mounting the wheels. The steering rack is also from the figure eight. The turning radius is really large; when turning, the wheels hit the frame, so limiters were made. It doesn't seem to steer badly, but it's clear that you can't expect light steering from all-wheel drive without a differential.

In the first gear of the gearbox, the karakat walks through snow up to 50 cm deep. The maximum speed in second gear is somewhere around 20 km/h, on well-worn roads it is enough, since without shock absorbers you still can’t accelerate faster, the wheels spring strongly, although they don’t seem to be very inflated, and at low speeds the wheel chambers absorb unevenness well.

The engine, although not powerful, pulls well, although two speeds are not enough for it to be more efficient. I installed a four-speed transmission from a VAZ car. Now it has become noticeably better and you can change gears while driving, which was impossible to do with a gearbox, which must be changed while stopping.

how to increase the speed of a walk-behind tractor

The first gear was not so fast, but there was more traction. First and second gears are for difficult conditions, and third and fourth if you want to go faster.

It drives on this kind of snow without any problems.

But in this kind of snow it’s already difficult, but paddling with all four of you slowly makes your way, the engine really has a hard time.

It's spring already.

Here are the new changes in karakat. I bought a new engine for it, otherwise I put the old one in and out of the walk-behind tractor. New Chinese engine "Champion G390HK-II 13 l/s". The "Chinese" starts well and pulls well, I tried to start it even in twenty-degree frosts - it starts.

I also installed a car generator, now there is light.

I also made a trailer for transporting people; it can confidently carry even 4 people.

In general, it turned out to be a good all-terrain vehicle; I ride mainly in winter and in the off-season. It walks confidently through mud and snow, but this is not surprising since four-wheel drive and without differentials. I hope that you liked my homemade karakat kamuto and the photos were clear and useful for you.

We adapt the Neva walk-behind tractor for growing potatoes

It's no secret that growing potatoes on personal plot, one of important topics. Purchased walk-behind tractors and cultivators do not always fully meet this task. This is why they have to be remade and modernized. Let's pay attention to the most common walk-behind tractor Neva - 2.

This medium walk-behind tractor has small transport wheels. Its main task is soil milling. However, when hilling potatoes, the clearance is very small, so you can drive the potatoes either on two cutters with a hiller at the back, one razor each, but this is extremely inconvenient, since the walk-behind tractor high location the engine tends to collapse.

To install a walk-behind tractor in two furrows, it is best to replace the standard wheels with higher lugs 680 x 30 mm. In addition, on the hubs of the MB 2C walk-behind tractor. you can install disks from passenger car Moskvich, 5 holes, removing mud guards and installing standard walk-behind shaft extensions.

Next, on these wheels, you can mount any all-terrain tires of 13 and it will turn out completely new car with a track width of 62 cm, which is necessary when growing potatoes. In addition, the ground clearance also increases by 7-8 cm, which makes it possible to hill potatoes up to three times in year.

There is no doubt that with such a rearrangement, transport and technological speed increases, and this saves time and efficiency of work - there is enough engine power, since lugs are also produced, as mentioned above, with a diameter of 680 mm.

When rearranged, even the centering collar on the standard flange matches the diameter of the hole in the disk.

Options for tuning a walk-behind tractor with your own hands

And to remake it, you need to buy or grind 10 washers with an internal diameter of 10 mm and an outer diameter of about 30-35 mm. In addition, attach balance weights to the wheels to increase traction with the soil.

However, there is another better option, this is the use of 16-inch wheels from Moskvich, respectively, the diameter of the wheels is even larger (640mm). It is easier to find agricultural tires with a herringbone tread for such a disc.
