How to make a homemade cabbage shredder. Electroshredder

DIY cabbage shredder made of wood

Soon it's time to pickle cabbage for the winter. Shredding cabbage by hand is long and difficult. I made my own wooden cabbage shredder. Thanks to such a simple craft, the preparation process becomes quick. Making a shredder from wood is very easy. You need to start by choosing the material. Mine is made of birch. I chose a board without knots and cracks. The board must be dry. Perhaps someone has scraps, because the size of the blanks will not be large.

Blank size
290 x 95 x 22 mm - 1 piece
140 x 95 x 22 mm - 1 piece
300 x 40 x 15 mm -2 pcs
You can make a shredder from wood using other sizes. She doesn't have to be like that. The most important thing is to use the manufacturing principle itself. Birch crafts are always high quality and durable. My shredder is over twenty years old. Everyone should choose material based on their region.

If there are no scraps of the required size, then we prepare everything from scratch and start by jointing one side and the edge of the board. Then we pass it through a thicknesser and get the desired size in terms of thickness. We make our blanks to size on a saw. Do not forget to look at the angle after each operation on the machines. We cut out the handle with a jigsaw and process it, it should be comfortable. After the jigsaw I'm on my way homemade machine brought the pen to the desired shape. All this can be done manually.

The other end of the workpiece is slightly rounded grinding machine. It can be made the same as on the second workpiece, where the knife is located. For sawing at forty-five degrees

The knife on my craft is from a jointer, 95 x 35 x 3 mm. The hardest part was drilling for the screws. I chose soft steel and everything worked out for me. I made a platform under the knife with a cutter and a chisel and secured it with screws. All that remains is to round off the ends of two identical pieces and you can start assembling.

Assembling the shredder
Before assembly, we mark and drill holes. Two identical strips are screwed to a workpiece with a handle. Three screws on each side.

Drill before screwing thin drill and this will prevent cracks. I made a regulating knife on my wooden craft. You can set any thickness and chop not only cabbage and carrots when pickling, but also vegetables for various dishes.

The knife adjustment is done as follows. On the planks and the workpiece with a knife, I drilled a through hole with a 6 mm drill and inserted a long bolt. To change the cutting thickness, you need to loosen the nut and set the size. You can set the lamb with frequent adjustments.

I have made various crafts from wood; a cabbage shredder is one of my jobs that I have to use often. Making a shredder with your own hands is not so difficult, you can give a shredder as a gift and you will always be remembered kind words. In the house it is indispensable assistant every housewife.

What could be more beautiful than finely shredded sauerkraut or various vegetable salads and dressings for first courses, including borscht, prepared for the winter? And the only thing more beautiful than this can be an electric vegetable shredder, which will help you prepare all these goodies in a matter of minutes, making the housewife’s work as easy as possible, especially if the scale of consumption of products of this type is not small. Today various trade marks They offer a choice of a huge amount of equipment of varying power and configuration, which directly depend on the volume of processing, but the prices, as you know, are “biting”, so if there is a man in the house whose not only his head works well, but also his hands, then You can easily make such a device yourself.

At the same time, you should not be afraid of not coping with the task, because the device of a vegetable shredder is very simple, and the costs of turning this idea into reality will be minimal, because any available means on the farm can easily be used. The most a big problem may arise with an electric motor, which should drive the circular knives, and if it is possible to select a suitable device, borrowing it from some outdated equipment, then the problem can safely be considered half solved. As for the structure itself, it is a welded metal frame on which a motor and a bearing assembly are mounted, designed to rotate the disc blades, which are connected to each other by a belt. The unit itself is placed inside a rigid housing equipped with two holes - an inlet funnel designed for loading vegetables and, accordingly, the outlet itself.

Frame electric vegetable cutter must exactly follow the contours of the metal disk with minimal gaps equal to one or two millimeters. Naturally, it is much easier to adjust the size of the shredding disc itself, which is usually made of durable duralumin steel, at least two millimeters thick. The whole difficulty lies in making three serrated crescent-shaped knives, the sharp edges of which are carefully bent to the side by at least four to six millimeters, and the hole itself, located in the middle of the shredder. The edge of the disk is also processed by grinding, choosing an angle of 90 degrees for this work (the width of the edge is at least 10 millimeters). If it is not possible to make such a product due to the lack of skills or special equipment for turning, then you can order a rotating disk with knives in a workshop or even purchase it at an already finished form for very little money.

In the latter case, you will have to adjust the body of the electric shredder to the purchased knife, which is not very convenient. Alternatively, you can try to make a simplified design of the disk, equipping it with straight knives, instead of complex crescent-shaped slots, but then you should be prepared for the fact that the quality of operation of the finished unit will be noticeably inferior to its more advanced analogue. As for the body of such a shredder, it is best to make it from of stainless steel using spot welding. To ensure maximum ease of use, it is ideal to make it from two separate parts - a cylinder with a circular knife placed inside and a removable lid, to which you can attach a large funnel in the form of an inverted truncated pyramid.

This approach will ensure the use of large fruits and timely cleaning of the inside of the body from various types of waste that may interfere with the work process. Alternatively, you can use elements of the drum body from an old one washing machine, which is very convenient and does not require use gas welding. The belt drive elements themselves can also be borrowed from washing machine, out of order. As for the bearing assembly, it is usually made of two bearings, a housing welded to metal corners rigid frame, as well as rotating circular knife shaft Alternatively, you can attach the unit to the frame by making through holes in the corners of the frame and the body itself, which are ultimately connected with bolts.

Before starting the unit, it is imperative to adjust and adjust the working body and all parts connecting it into a single mechanism. When using an introductory funnel with a mouth that is too wide, you need to be extremely careful when using an auxiliary pestle, because usually such a shredder can chop an entire head of cabbage in a matter of minutes, let alone your fingers.

Sauerkraut is tasty and useful product. The most difficult operation in its preparation is chopping. Housewives manage to do this with the help of various devices. One of them is powered by an electric motor and has parts and components taken from a washing machine that was produced in Soviet times.

The design of a homemade shredder includes a frame, which is welded using 20x20 mm corners. An electric motor and an additional vertical shaft with a bearing unit located below, carrying the working disk, are installed on it. The last one contains three knives. The front of rotation from the motor to the additional shaft is made of a belt, installing pulleys on them.

The shredder is covered with a body. It has a hole on top and a loading funnel through which cabbage heads are fed to the working disk. Below, under the disk, there is an exit window from which shredded cabbage is poured into a container placed below.

The frame, for convenience, is equipped with four support legs, for the manufacture of which a corner is used. The length of the legs is made different - this is necessary so that the plane of the working disk is inclined to the horizon by 30°. This simplifies the process of loading the funnel with cabbage heads and feeding them to the knives.

The most important part of a homemade shredder is the working disk. It is cut from a sheet of duralumin 2 mm thick. The edges of the disk are edged, bending down a strip 1 cm wide; this gives the part greater rigidity.

Three knives are evenly placed on the disk. They are made from a hacksaw blade or a scythe blade. It is better if they are crescent-shaped in plan, although they can also be made straight.

Mark the installation locations of the knives on the disk. Cut out sickle-shaped windows and push their edges up by 6 mm. On the resulting platforms, sickle-shaped knives are fastened with rivets. To remove cabbage “noodles”, duralumin corners are riveted under the disk, opposite the installed knives.

The shredder body is made composite. Its lower part covers the working disk and has an exit window through which shredded cabbage pours out. The upper part covers the lower part and has a loading funnel into which cabbage heads are fed for shredding. They are made from a sheet of steel 0.5...0.75 mm thick. The joints are welded. You can use the material of the washing machine body, aluminum sheets. The first is connected with rivets, the second - by rolling the edges of the parts.

The bearing assembly consists of a housing, a shaft, and two bearings No. 80202. It is attached to the frame using a 20x20 mm corner and a vertical steel plate.

The V-belt drive fits from a washing machine. Its tension is ensured by rearranging the electric motor on the frame.

The working element is adjusted by lowering/raising the lower edge of the loading funnel relative to the working disk. The thickness of the cut in a homemade shredder is constant and depends on the design of the working disk and the position cutting knives On him.

This trick allows you to chop a head of cabbage for 2…3 minutes. For safety reasons, they should be fed to the working disk using a wooden pestle.

Good day to all, dear friends! In today's article I would like to show you how to make a homemade product that is quite relevant at the moment. So, now the sunset season is in full swing - this is the season when many of us make preparations for the winter from what we grew in the summer at the dacha. Namely, we will look at how to make a cabbage shredder. Many of us love sauerkraut and many people know how difficult it is sometimes to prepare it. One of the problems with preparing cabbage for the winter is chopping it, of course, when you are going to prepare one or two liter jars, you will not have any particular problems with this. But when we are talking about ten three-liter jars, then shredding cabbage forks will be quite problematic, it will take a long time and not as neatly as it could be with the help of our shredder. This homemade product will have a very simple and primitive design from parts that you will probably find at home, in the country or in the garage. Well, enough of the long prefaces, and let’s start assembling this homemade product. Let's go!

So, for this homemade product you will need:
- Sheet of plywood (1m * 1m).
- Shovel handle.
- Wooden block.
- Round wooden stick 2 pcs (for example from wooden hanger for clothes).
- Furniture nails.
- Self-tapping screws.
- Blades for stationery knife.
- A couple of washers.

Tools you will also need:
- Hammer.
- Jigsaw.
- Hand jigsaw.
- Ruler.
- Black gel or capillary pen.
- Drill and drill bits.
- Screwdrivers.
- Hot-melt adhesive.
- Stationery knife.

First, let's take a sheet of plywood, on it we should draw a quadrilateral. To do this, we will need a black gel or capillary pen (by using a pen instead of a marker, you will achieve a thinner and more precise outline) and a ruler. The sides of the quadrilateral should be equal to 18 cm and 22 cm. We will need 2 of these quadrilaterals. After we have drawn the drawing using a jigsaw, we cut out our blanks. It should also be noted that on newly made blanks, a hole should be made in the center relative to the top and bottom sides and slightly offset to one of the sides. The diameter of the hole should be equal to the outer diameter of the round stick.

After the above steps, we should do the following. Namely, four racks in order to connect previously made blanks together. For them we need to take wooden block and using a hacksaw to divide it into four equal parts of 14 cm each. After we have made the racks, we will temporarily secure them with hot glue as shown in the photo below, that is, along the edges of the plywood quadrangle.

The next step is to take a cutting of medium diameter and cut off a cylinder from it with a height equal to the height of the posts, in our case it is 14 cm. And in the center of this cylinder we make holes whose diameter will be equal to the diameter of the hole made earlier on the plywood quadrangles, that is, the diameter of the round wooden stick you took. Next, install the cylinder in the place indicated in the photo so that the holes of the cylinder and the quadrilateral coincide. We will attach it using hot glue.

Then we should take and modify the second plywood quadrangle made earlier. Near the previously made hole, you should draw a rectangle towards the far side, that is, towards the center relative to the sides (see photo). The width of this rectangle should be about 1 cm, and the length should be slightly less than the length of the stationery knife blades you took.

Cut it out, cut it out using hand jigsaw exactly along the drawn contour. And with the help of a stationery knife we bevel one of the sides as soon as we have done rectangular hole(see photo).

We connect the modified quadrilateral to the previously made workpiece using hot-melt adhesive. Then we knock together the entire structure using furniture nails and twist it with wood screws. This will give us strength and reliability of the structure.

Next we need a blade from a stationery knife. The blade should be secured to the place indicated in the photo (see below). In order for the blade to hold securely, it should be secured using self-tapping screws through metal washers.

Next, we will make the next piece, on which the cabbage will rotate. To do this, from a small block the size of a little smaller size the racks should be sawed off to a length of 14 cm and drilled along the edges as indicated through holes, the diameter of which will be equal to the outer diameter of the round stick. Insert a round stick into one of the holes made.

Then we will cut out a circle from plywood, the diameter of which will be equal to 5-6 cm with a hole in the center, and the diameter of the hole in the center should be equal to the diameter of the round stick. This part will act as a large wooden washer. And install it in the place indicated in the photo. To ensure that the plywood washer does not rotate, but sits tightly and motionlessly in its place, we strengthen the connection with a pair of furniture nails.

And into the second hole we insert a round stick about 14 cm long; it will act as a handle, which we will hold on to and rotate the cabbage around its axis.

All is ready! All that remains is to test it, to do this we string a head of cabbage onto the axis of the “handle”, set it in place and rotate the head of cabbage clockwise until it runs out. As a result, we got a very simple and useful design, which will certainly be useful for preparing cabbage for the winter.
