How to make a beach sun canopy with your own hands. Tips from experienced craftsmen for independently erecting a high-quality awning Sun protection on the beach canopy

A sun canopy for the beach, simple in design, will be appreciated by many vacationers. Unlike an umbrella, it creates a lot of shade; costs less than an umbrella, as it is made from scrap materials; The design itself is light and collapsible, thanks to which it can easily fit into camping backpack. How to make such a canopy with your own hands, watch and read the step-by-step instructions.

Materials

To make a sun canopy with your own hands, prepare:

  • hand drill;
  • rubber hammer;
  • inch PVC pipe(4 pieces of 90 cm and 4 pieces of 60 cm);
  • inch PVC adapter – 8 pcs.;
  • inch PVC couplings – 4 pcs.;
  • plugs – 8 pcs.;
  • 0.5 inch bolts and hex nuts for them - 4 pcs.;
  • washers (2 pcs. for each bolt);
  • paracord;
  • tarpaulin;
  • tent pegs.

Step 1. Modify the four plugs. Drill a hole in each for a bolt. Insert the bolt, washers and nut according to the diagram shown in the photo. Tighten the bolt thoroughly.

Step 2. Place the resulting plugs on two long PVC tubes and two shorter ones. To ensure they sit thoroughly, hammer them in with a rubber mallet.

Step 3. Attach PVC adapters to the ends of the same pipes on the other side. Also, for strength, go over them with a rubberized hammer.

Step 4. Thread plugs without bolts onto one end of the remaining four pipes. On the second - adapters.

Step 5. This is how you can do it support structures for the awning. Using a coupling, these parts are converted into two tall poles for the front of the canopy and two small ones for the rear. At the top assembled parts you need to drill holes. You will pass paracord through them when assembling the structure on the beach.

Step 6. To assemble the canopy, you need to spread a tarpaulin or prepared fabric at the installation site.

Step 7. Run paracord through the corners of the tarp, pulling it to the sides.

Step 8. Tie the ends of the rope to the stakes and drive them at an angle into the tarp.

Step 9. Install a long pipe in one of the corners of the front part of the canopy, and a short pipe diagonally. Adjust the tension of the tarp using a string, passing it through the holes in the top of the pipes and through the bolt.

Step 10. Install two more pipes and readjust the paracord. The bolts should pass through the cutouts in the tarp, increasing its tension. Secure the resulting fastening with another nut so that the tarpaulin covering does not fly off during gusts of wind.

How to make a beach awning canopy with your own hands:

Summer, the beach, it's wonderful.

We take a wife, a child, we can grab a dog and a ball. We pack a picnic basket, a blanket, sunscreen and all sorts of other necessities in addition, but here’s the problem - outside the window the temperature is up to 40 degrees and you won’t be able to sunbathe for a long time in the open sun. The thought comes about some kind of covering, namely an umbrella or canopy, an awning.

No umbrella, shops are far away.

Let's then learn how to make a sun canopy with our own hands.

What do we need for this?

1. I recommend going through the bottom of the barrel in the house or garage and finding in the closet or attic, for example, linen fabric hidden by the housewife for her hand-made items, or an old (not quite old, clean) sheet to create an awning. This piece of fabric will be enough.

2. You need sticks and supports to support the tent in weight. We go down to the garage or stomp onto the balcony,

Usually, if you look for it, you can find everything from the owner.

We need 3 almost identical wooden or aluminum (lightweight) supports to create the frame. 110-150cm 2 pieces. and one up to 200-220cm. thickness 25-35mm.

3. Twine, rope, for guy ropes. Cut 4 pieces up to 1.5 meters in size

4. Pegs from an old tent; pegs cut independently from wooden blocks 40-45 cm long are also suitable. at the ends of which you can drill holes for knitting rope, or screw in self-tapping screws, leaving them unscrewed.

5. two nails 60-80mm.

P.S. Our awning assumes disposable or non-reusable use, since our creation is done in a hurry while the wife is equipping a leisure basket or a 100-liter hiking bag) and cannot have the same build quality.

Now the process itself:

On the two sticks that we found, or rather on their ends, we hammer nails up to half the length.

(one side only)

You're a man - Do you have a drill? Let's hope there is.

We take the remaining stick (support) and at its ends, stepping back from the edge 4-10 cm, drill a hole that exceeds the diameter of the nail by about 10-20%. Congratulations. The frame is almost ready.

If you have aluminum tubes, tape the nails with the point up half the length with electrical tape.

Wind it tighter. And with drilling the same procedure.

Now let's take care of the awning:

The width of the fabric should be less than the width of the holes on the support we drilled. You can either trim off the excess or simply tuck it in place.

The length of the sheet is usually 200-220cm. We hope for the latter option.

Now take a knife, scissors and make holes in the corners of our canopy awning and thread the 4 pieces of pre-prepared rope found into these holes, tie them tightly in knots. (we attach the ends of our ropes to the awning) The awning is ready.

All we need now is to collect what we have made and use it on the beach.

You need to dig two posts on the shore with nails with the ends up at the distance of the holes drilled in the supporting crossbar for the canopy, insert this crossbar with holes into the nails. We hang our awning along the width on the crossbar, align the hanging edges in the center, pull the awning together with the wife to an acceptable light tension and, without forgetting the hammer at home in advance, hammer in the prepared pegs for knitting the awning to them.

Have a nice holiday. Tentex.

Today you can buy tourist tents the most different forms and sizes, but you can sew it yourself. And the point is not that it will be half the price, but that you can sew an awning to suit your needs and do exactly what you need. Well, I just like to do everything myself, because the process itself is interesting. And today we will talk about how to sew a camping awning with your own hands.

The first thing you need is to find a suitable fabric. In small towns this can be a serious problem. You don't often find travel fabrics in stores. I had a hard time finding green, as I was told, “tent fabric” without a name. Most likely it was an Oxford. Price 75 rub. behind linear meter was more than attractive and I bought 8 meters. Fabric width 1.5 meters. If you sew two pieces of 4 meters each, it will work out just fine awning 3x4 meters, which is what I need.

Please note that in stores the fabric is often not cut, but rather torn from the roll along the fibers. But the weaving of the threads in the cut does not correspond to the parallel-perpendicular axes of the roll. This way, the torn edge of the fabric will not be perpendicular to the side of the cut. And, if you need the exact geometry of the product in finished form, take the fabric with a margin of at least half a meter and cut it strictly at right angles.

I cut my piece of fabric in half. Along the edges there is a strip with punctures and deformation of the fabric, which remains during production. All this needs to be cut off, at least from those sides that will be sewn together in the middle of the awning. If the fabric has a front side, then we fold the two pieces face to face. The bottom layer should protrude 5-6 millimeters from the top.

We wrap these 5 millimeters up and stitch them on a typewriter.

Then upper layer bend it towards the seam, as if unrolling an awning. And we sew so that the line goes along the edge of the folded strip, retreating 2-3 mm from it. For convenience, you can turn the awning over and sew from the wrong side.

The seam must be treated with some kind of impregnation so that it does not allow water to pass through. Eat different recipes for self-breeding, or you can use store-bought products.

Now you need to process the perimeter of the awning. We turn the fabric from the front side to the wrong side by 5 millimeters, then stitch it again in exactly the same way.

To make it easier and faster to install the awning, I decided to sew loops around the perimeter. I don't like eyelets in this regard. Over time, they tear out under good load. The places where the hinges are attached need to be strengthened. To do this, I cut 6x6 cm squares from thick leatherette and sewed them into places under the loops.

Then I cut identical pieces of tape used to hem the trousers, folded them and ironed them a little to fix the shape. All that remains is to sew the loops onto the squares around the perimeter of the awning.

That's basically it. The tent is ready and you can try it out on your next trip.

The tent turned out to be approximately 1.4 kg. weight, which is quite comparable to some store models. 600 rubles spent. with a little (2015). Time-wise - several hours of cutting and sewing. The result, I think, is very good, except that I would like to make the weight a little less.

An awning with this arrangement of loops can be easily installed

Review of a portable, lightweight self-folding awning. An interesting contraption, which may well be in great demand during the holidays.

UPD on the site there was an error “delivery is paid”. corrected free

Usually at the beginning of the review I talk about all sorts of abstract topics, smoothly leading the reader to the substantive part.
This won’t happen here; I felt some kind of stupor after the workout. They say that physical activity improves cognitive function, but it seems to me that this is not true. Now the closest association to what is happening in my head can be called the well-known “snake”. One thought rushes back and forth, growing little by little, only to eventually disappear again. So it's better to get straight to the point.
That's what they promise.

PACKAGING AND APPEARANCE.

The assembled tent fits into a one-kilogram flat half-meter round cover. The case is quite transportable, thanks to the presence of handles.

I immediately opened it and the awning jumped out at me, miraculously pushing itself from two-dimensional space into three-dimensional space. (Here I spent about 10-15 minutes trying to find and provide a link to the educational old article computerry, it seems by Bird Kiwi about the holographic principle of the universe. There was something in the title about angels at the end of a needle." If anyone can help, I would be grateful, I re-read this article with interest more than once and now could not find a saved copy).
Unfolding the awning takes 3-5 seconds thanks to the elastic frame. Downside This becomes a puzzling folding task. To fold this tent without the help of an instructional video (and the instructions included with the tent are not very informative), you need to have excellent spatial thinking.

I got a light green awning, there is also a blue and silver-blue one.

The awning is a regular tent without a front. Unfold, lie down and rest. There is no unpleasant chemical smell.

The dimensions are impressive relative to the original folded state.

The tent can easily accommodate one adult or comfortably accommodate 2-3 children. There is also a modification with a retractable floor, but this awning is significantly smaller, about one and a half meters.

This is what it's like live. As you can see, there is plenty of room for a child.

And there's plenty of standing room too

In addition to the awning, the kit includes a small bag with pegs. There is also a second option for fastening - these are pockets into which it is proposed to pour sand. Well, maybe with a symbolic wind this will be useful, but in a good way you need to use pegs, especially since it is not difficult.

Material... well, the devil knows what kind of material, some kind synthetic fabric. But! Everything is made decently - straight neat stitches, overall neat appearance. There are no symptoms of Chinese cheapness here.

An important detail, without which this awning would lose a fair amount of practicality - there is a ventilation mesh along the entire perimeter. I think that everyone reading this has at least once found themselves in a tent heated by the sun. It's not very pleasant, even if the window is open. There's no problem with that right now at all. Exceptional airflow and absence of any hint of stuffiness.

It's not stuffy at all inside. However, it is worth noting that sunlight passes through these holes without interference and you can only count on complete shade inside if the awning is positioned correctly.

I came across comments on this tent on Ali, people wrote about the weak floor. Here I agree ideal option the floor would be made of something dense like oxford. My wife, who took the tent to the dacha for a couple of days for field testing, confirmed this. She placed a rug folded in half under the floor. In general, something less thick would do, but there were two kids constantly hanging out in this tent, so there was a question of not only keeping the floor intact, but also making it soft. If there are any pebbles, such a floor will not last long without a layer. At the dacha, it’s not a problem to find something to put down, but if you go to the beach, then only to the sandy one; on rocks without a layer, the bottom will not hold up for long. In fairness, it is worth noting that stronger floor material means more weight.

The second point is that it would be nice to organize a couple of pockets there on the sides. This would not add any weight at all, but in terms of convenience it would be nice. Put a book there, a phone or a bottle of water.

Here's some video. Ideally, I would shoot it in nature, but by the time I get out somewhere, the whole summer will pass

As for the assembly... well, this is a real exercise for the mind. I finally gave up on following the instructions in the pictures and found a video on YouTube.

GENERAL IMPRESSIONS

So far positive. If you do not take into account the thin material of the floor, then there is nothing to complain about. A fairly light and at the same time roomy thing that can make a vacation on a hot day definitely more comfortable, and in the case of children's vacations, less harmful (less chance of getting sunburned). It is clear that this thing will not protect you from mosquitoes or rain; its purposes are completely different.

With coupon HXFTENT5 the price becomes $24.99, which is 2 bucks less than the lowest price on Ali. And it seems like there is no track, you can immediately track the movement of the parcel.

Judging by the large number of Russian-speaking comments on the above-mentioned Ali, the chances that there will be owners of such an awning here on Muska are quite high. Please leave your impressions in the comments.
