How to choose the right wall-mounted heating gas boiler? Rating of gas boilers for heating a private home: varieties, technical characteristics, prices Which gas boiler is better to choose

You have installed a gas pipeline to your country cottage or... The next stage is the selection of gas heating equipment. The task is not easy - the variety of household boilers in online stores will bewilder any inexperienced homeowner. Accordingly, our goal is to review the existing types of units and explain how to choose the right gas boiler for heating a private house, cottage or apartment.

What you need to know to select a heater

You can’t just go to the store and buy a gas heating boiler. To choose a suitable model, you need to prepare a list of requirements for the unit - determine the thermal power, required functions, installation method and other initial data.

What items are included in the list:

  1. Calculate the amount of heat required to heat a cottage or apartment.
  2. Outline the range of tasks for a gas boiler - it should only heat the building or, in addition, serve as a water heater for household needs.
  3. Set aside a space for installing a heat generator. The rules allow the installation of gas-fired heating equipment in the kitchen (power up to 60 kW), attached boiler room, or in another separate room located near the outer wall of the home.
  4. Determine the method of installing the boiler - floor or wall. For apartments, only the hanging option is suitable.
  5. Consider the operating principle of your heating system. For a gravitational circuit with natural circulation of coolant (so-called gravity flow), an appropriate energy-independent heater that operates without electricity is selected.
  6. Set the level of automation of the device according to your wishes. Examples of useful functions: maintaining indoor temperature according to a schedule or signals from an external weather sensor, remote control via the Internet and so on.
  7. Estimate the prices of various boilers and find out how much you are willing to spend on purchasing a gas boiler.

Note. The rules for the placement and connection of gas-using installations intended for heating and hot water supply are set out in the publication about.

Before choosing a new one or replacing an outdated gas boiler for heating a private home, we highly recommend consulting the customer service department of Gorgaz (or another management company). Why is this needed:

  • in addition to the general rules, regional offices have internal instructions that limit the use of gas equipment; these points are worth clarifying;
  • a new or replaced boiler must be included in the project documentation, otherwise you risk incurring a fine for installation without approval;
  • Our specialists will help you place the heat generator correctly in your home.

The boiler house design indicates the location of all heat generators with dimensional references to building structures

Clarification regarding internal instructions. Gorgaz often introduce their own restrictions, for example, they may prohibit the installation of an atmospheric boiler next to a forced kitchen hood. The reason is the absence.

Another example: you want to take him out of the room apartment building horizontal (coaxial) chimney, but the office does not approve this solution, since the protruding pipe spoils the appearance of the facade. To understand all the intricacies, you will have to understand the existing types of gas heaters, but first...

Determining the thermal power of the boiler

Surely you know the popular methods for calculating the thermal performance of equipment - by area or volume of heated premises. Allegedly, for housing 100 square meters take a 10 kW boiler, in Vacation home 200 sq. m – unit 20 kW.

It is better not to use these approximate methods, since specific conditions are not taken into account - the climate in the area of residence, the degree of thermal insulation of the building, and so on. We invite you to take advantage of more precise methods calculations:

  1. According to the specific heat load per square square of living space, taking into account the location of the room and the number of window openings.
  2. The same goes for the volume of premises.
  3. Full calculation using the SNiP formula, taking into account the thickness and thermal insulation of external building structures.

An example of calculating heat loss by area, taking into account the location of rooms and the number of window openings

Comment. All 3 methods are described in detail in a separate manual on thermal calculations.

Knowing the heat consumption for heating the cottage, we select a gas boiler based on power as follows:

  • if you plan to use the unit only for heating, multiply the resulting figure by a safety factor of 1.2;
  • the power of a 2-circuit heat generator providing 2 water points is best selected with a margin of 1.3-1.5;
  • for working with a boiler indirect heating with a volume of 200-300 liters you will need a gas single-circuit boiler with one and a half performance margin (multiply by a factor of 1.5).

Let's give an example. For heating a private home with an area of 100 square meters. m is calculated to require 9 kW of energy. Minimum power a gas heater excluding DHW will be 9 x 1.2 = 10.8 kW, a double-circuit boiler - 9 x 1.3 = 11.7 kW. If you need to heat the storage tank, the unit’s performance increases to 9 x 1.5 = 13.5 kW. Next, we select the nearest higher-power model from the line of heaters - 12 and 15 kW, respectively.

Classification of gas heat generators

All hot water boilers that burn natural gas or liquefied propane-butane mixture (LPG) are divided into groups according to the following criteria:

  • combustion chamber design - open or sealed (closed);
  • installation method – wall, parapet or floor;
  • number of heating circuits – 1 or 2 (heating + DHW);
  • energy resources used – only gas fuel or its combination with wood and electricity (so-called combi boilers).

Note. All types of heat generators are initially configured to burn methane, the main gas. To do this, it is enough to replace the fuel jets and adjust the pressure in front of the main burner.

Examples of combined heat generators: electric-gas apparatus (left) and dual-fuel coal-gas boiler (right)

The correct choice of a gas boiler is made according to 3 main criteria - the principle of operation (that is, the type of chamber), the installation option and the ability to additionally heat required quantity water. Other factors are not so important, but in certain conditions they can play a decisive role:

  • design and material of the heat exchanger – steel, cast iron, copper;
  • ignition method - automatic electronic or manual from a piezoelectric element;
  • dependence of the heater operation on electricity;
  • the ability to smoothly or stepwise regulate the power of a gas burner device (modulation);
  • and so on.

An important nuance. Absolutely all modifications of gas water heating devices, commercially available, are equipped with automatic safety. According to requirements regulatory documents, the fuel valve of any boiler must immediately stop the fuel supply in 3 cases:

  1. In case of spontaneous extinguishing of the burner, for example, due to the flame being torn off by reverse draft.
  2. If the gas pressure in the supply line drops below a critical level.
  3. In the absence of natural chimney draft or failure of the blower fan (optionally, a smoke exhauster) in turbocharged versions of heaters.

Reference. In heat generators with electronic control, manufacturers provide additional levels of protection - they install temperature sensors, overheating sensors and other automatic safety devices.

Classification of gas-fired heaters according to various criteria

Gas separation heating installations into groups cannot be called clear. Example: devices with an open chamber are floor-mounted, wall-mounted and parapet-mounted, and some models operate from the mains, others are completely independent. Let's look at each group in more detail.

Differences between units based on operating principle

Boilers using natural gas as the main energy source are divided into 3 categories:

  • atmospheric with an open combustion chamber;
  • turbocharged (otherwise inflatable) with a closed firebox;
  • condensing - units with a sealed chamber capable of returning the latent heat of fuel combustion.

We will not consider the pros and cons of each group of heaters; we would rather list the design differences and operational parameters. In heat sources of the first category, the firebox communicates with the surrounding air, hence the name - atmospheric. Boiler features:

Explanation. Only units with an open firebox are able to function without electricity. In non-volatile models, fuel supply and safe combustion are handled (most often by EuroSIT). There is no electronic board or controller; ignition is done manually using a piezo button.

Turbocharged heat generators do not depend on chimney draft, since air is forced into a closed chamber electric fan, whose performance is regulated by the controller. Air is sucked in and exhaust gases are released through a coaxial chimney “pipe in pipe”, laid out along the shortest path, as shown in the photo.

Typically, a double-walled flue is installed horizontally with a slight slope towards the street to drain condensate.

Features and characteristics of pressurized boilers:

  1. The firebox does not communicate with the air in the room; the ignition and combustion process are completely controlled by electronics.
  2. The units are completed two-stage burners or modulating devices with a smooth change in performance.
  3. The efficiency of various turbocharged vehicles lies in the range of 90...93% - a higher figure than that of naturally aspirated vehicles.
  4. Boilers require external power supply from the house electrical network.

Compared to their atmospheric counterparts, gas heat sources with a closed chamber are more economical and well automated. The disadvantage is complete dependence on external power supply, the lights were turned off - the heating also “died”. To secure a gas turbo boiler, you need a block uninterruptible power supply or an electric generator.

Reference. In terms of price, forced-air heaters occupy a middle position between inexpensive “aspirated” and condensing units.

The design of the condensation heat generator resembles turbocharged models - the same closed chamber, fan - air blower (or smoke exhauster), double-walled chimney. The device is distinguished by the design of the firebox and a cylindrical burner placed inside the heat exchanger - a coil made of of stainless steel.

How the boiler works:

In addition to dependence on electricity, the described boilers have 2 more disadvantages - too high a price and deterioration in efficiency in certain operating modes. Our expert will reveal the essence of the problem in a video:

Wall, stationary and parapet models

As you might guess, the boilers of the first group are hung on the wall, the second are placed on the floor. Parapet heaters are closer in design to floor heaters, only they are attached to the wall at a level of 70-100 cm.

The installation method is not the only difference between heating units:

  1. All wall-mounted modifications are a miniature gas boiler room. Inside any suspended boiler there is its own circulation pump, safety group, control unit and expansion tank(except for individual copies). Therefore, a wall-mounted device always depends on the reliability of the power supply.
  2. Heat exchangers for suspended heaters are made of copper or steel; cast iron is not used. The equipment is offered in 3 versions to choose from - turbocharged, atmospheric and condensing.
  3. Floor-standing boilers are equipped with heat exchangers made of steel and cast iron. In Russia and the CIS countries, affordable energy-independent devices of the AOGV type are produced; among the imported ones there are models with external power supply.
  4. 90% of stationary boilers are equipped with an open chamber and connected to a conventional chimney. There are also supercharged and condensation modifications of units (usually foreign-made).
  5. Parapet heaters are offered only in atmospheric non-volatile design. The maximum power of a gas wall-mounted boiler is small - up to 15 kW, efficiency - 86%. Heat exchanger – “black” steel.

The parapet type boiler also uses a coaxial gas inlet/outlet, and operates on natural draft without any fans

Note. The difference between the three boiler layouts, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each option, in a detailed review.

From the point of view of the average user, the material of the heat exchanger does not play a big role. Copper radiators are effective, but expensive; cast iron is durable, but too heavy and fragile (afraid of sudden temperature changes). Stainless steel and “black” steel are a compromise option sold by manufacturers in various boilers, regardless of layout.

Types of double-circuit water heating devices

The main difference between these boilers and single-circuit versions is the ability to provide hot water to the home. The water is heated by the main burner in 4 different ways:

Bithermal and plate heat exchangers are installed on double-circuit boilers wall mounting, are rarely used in floor-standing versions. Only stationary units are equipped with storage boilers (with rare exceptions). Conventional coils made of copper tubes are used in non-volatile heaters - parapet and floor.

Bithermic copper radiator shown on the right, on the left – a stainless steel plate heat exchanger

Security features and other useful features

Boilers that do not require connection to the house electrical network, are equipped with mechanical gas automation that meets the minimum safety requirements and turns off the fuel supply in the event of an emergency (listed above). What is important: after the mechanical valve of the EuroSIT type is triggered, the user must restart manually.

Floor-standing boiler "Aton" with gas mechanical automation unit 710 MiniSIT

In heat generators with automatic ignition and electronic control, the system works differently:

  1. In any emergency (the gas is turned off, the draft is lost, the flame goes out), the valve shuts off the fuel.
  2. After a few seconds, the controller commands the valve to open the gas, and the ignition module to send a spark to the electrodes. That is, the boiler tends to start on its own, the maximum number of attempts is 4.
  3. If after 3-4 ignitions the accident repeats, the unit goes into error - it turns on the red indicator or shows a code on the display. Further intervention by the homeowner or service technician is required.

Addition. The heater behaves in a similar way if the power supply fails. When the light turns on, the control unit makes 3-4 attempts to start. How this happens when the ionization sensor is contaminated with soot, watch the video:

We list other useful functions of modern boilers:

  • shutdown in case of coolant pressure drop in closed system heating up to 0.3-0.5 Bar (measured by a hydraulic sensor);
  • water overheating thermostats in both circuits (heating and DHW) also turn off the boiler burner;
  • built-in three-way valve and additional pipes for connecting an external indirect heating boiler;
  • possibility of connecting a room thermostat, external weather sensor and remote control management;
  • defrost protection – the temperature sensor will start the boiler if the coolant cools to a critical threshold of +5 °C;
  • fitting with valve;
  • modulation of the flame of a gas burner device - automatic smooth regulation of combustion intensity depending on the temperature of the supply water.

Heating control using a remote control or a programmable room thermostat

Electronic control units are capable of diagnosing emerging problems and sending the appropriate signal. If the malfunction threatens safety, the red light on the boiler lights up and the burner turns off; in other cases, the yellow indicator lights up instead of the green one. On models equipped with a display, the error code specified in the operating instructions is displayed.

So, you have determined the power of the heat source, the location of the installation mode and understood the existing types of gas heaters. All that remains is to choose the best option.

The first recommendation. According to our experts, optimal solution for all occasions - a wall-mounted turbo boiler with a coaxial flue. In terms of the cost of the equipment, including installation, the device will be cheaper than buying an “aspirated” one and building a full-fledged chimney. One condition: no problems with power supply.

Now let’s figure out which gas boiler you should choose depending on your budget and operating conditions:

  1. For a gravity-fed water heating system, you should definitely take non-volatile option heater - floor or parapet. The latter is suitable for a small country house area 80...120 m².
  2. For system closed type(the wiring diagram does not matter) any heater from the above will do. But it’s better to take the wall-mounted option - it’s easier and cheaper to connect the product, you don’t have to buy a safety valve, pump and expansion tank.

    Connecting a wall-mounted unit with water heating and a DHW system is quite simple; piping elements and additional equipment are included in the boiler itself

  3. Typical conditions: the smoke duct has already been built, the building has a separate combustion room, the budget is limited. Solution: wall-mounted atmospheric mini-boiler room with a minimum set of functions.
  4. To the apartment multi-storey building It is also better to install a turbocharged suspended model, since the removal of combustion products into the ventilation ducts is strictly prohibited. Make a hole in external wall and lay a horizontal chimney to the street, maintaining distances from the windows.
  5. A dual-circuit heater correctly selected in terms of power will serve a maximum of 2 water points. This refers to products with plate and bithermic heat exchangers; outdated copper coils are ineffective.
  6. If the expected consumption of domestic water is high, you need to purchase geyser or a boiler plus a storage boiler. If you don’t want to bother with the piping, take the Protherm floor-standing unit of the Medved-KLZ series with a built-in capacity of 90 liters.
  7. Floor-standing models should be purchased as a last resort, when wall-mounted models cannot be chosen - you need more power, independence from electricity, and similar situations. Stationary gas boilers are more expensive and require additional piping.

Finally, about condensing heating equipment. Now these units are not cheap, the price is not comparable with the increase in efficiency (95% versus 93% for turbocharged devices). The second negative point: the more complex the boiler installation, the more expensive its maintenance and repair. Although it must be admitted that a condensing gas boiler is the best solution for low-temperature heating systems - underfloor heating.

Choosing the best gas boiler for an apartment is not an easy task. It is even more difficult to obtain official permission from all relevant authorities to install such a heating device in a multi-storey building. However, there is a chance if all the rules of the procedure provided for by law are observed.

The main criterion for choosing any gas boiler is the correct calculation of the required power. This indicator is calculated depending on the area of the apartment, as well as the presence of additional power consumers, for example, hot water supply or a heated floor system. Also, productivity will have to be increased if your apartment has old, drafty windows and doors, and the house is poorly insulated.

Important! You should buy a gas boiler with a power reserve of 15-20%, so that on the coldest winter days the device does not work at the limit of its capabilities. Otherwise, such operation will quickly lead to wear and tear of the equipment.

When asked which gas boilers are best for an apartment, experts answer – first of all, turbocharged ones. Models with an open combustion chamber will not be allowed to be installed in an apartment in a multi-storey building by any gas service. The next selection criteria are the number of circuits and the placement method. If there is a heating problem in the apartment, then there is no hot water in it. Therefore, most residents apartment buildings they choose double-circuit models, and the modest dimensions of the housing allow them to accommodate only compact wall-mounted boilers. Since the power of units with two circuits is spent on both heating and water heating, this figure for these models usually ranges from 20 to 35 kW.

The remaining characteristics of the gas boiler: the presence of self-diagnosis, an informative display, various sensors, weather-dependent automation, etc., are selected at the discretion of the consumer. Of course, the more various functions, the safer and more comfortable it is to use the device. A modulating burner or weather-compensating automation will make the unit’s operation more economical and save your money. However, multifunctional gas boilers are much more expensive than analogues with a set of standard features.

Another important nuance in choosing a heating device is its requirements for operating conditions. If your area has low gas pressure, unstable voltage or poor-quality tap water, it is worth looking for a unit that can operate in difficult operating conditions. For example, some models already come with a filter for water purification. If there are voltage surges, you will have to purchase a voltage stabilizer.

Necessary documentation to install a gas boiler in an apartment

Before buying a gas boiler and contacting the gas service to obtain permission to install it, you should consider where the unit will be located. Not every room is suitable for installing this heating device. First of all, please note that the boiler cannot be hung in living rooms, such as a living room or bedroom. Only a bathroom, hallway or kitchen can be suitable for its placement, provided that they have good ventilation and meet a number of fire safety requirements.

If you are sure that your apartment has a suitable room for installing a gas boiler, you must collect the following documents:

  1. Project for installing and connecting a heating device to radiators.
  2. Technical documentation of the unit.
  3. Permission from the gas service, fire supervision and BTI.
  4. Coordinated chimney removal project.
Important! The first start-up of a gas boiler must be carried out by a specialist from the local gas service.

Pros and cons of installing a gas boiler in an apartment

Residents living in multi-storey buildings usually want to install autonomous heating for the following reasons:

  • there is no central heating in the house;
  • batteries do not provide a comfortable temperature or heat intermittently.

If there is a gas main line near the house, then many people choose gas heating. After all, there are many advantages of autonomous gas heating:

  • the ability to pay only for the fuel consumed;
  • you can select the most optimal heating mode;
  • independence from the operation of central heating systems;
  • allows you to receive, in addition to heat, hot water;
  • It is possible to connect other heating systems.

The disadvantages of gas boilers include:

  • difficulty in obtaining permission to install equipment;
  • repair costs are borne only by the owner;
  • significant initial investment.

Features of using the “warm floor” system

If you plan to connect a “warm floor” system to a gas boiler, then the best option would be a condensing model. They use two heat sources: coolant and condensing steam droplets on the boiler circuits. Thus, the efficiency of the unit increases to 96-99%, and fuel consumption is reduced. Although such a device is more expensive than its conventional counterpart, during operation the condensing boiler will quickly recoup its cost.

However, it is worth noting that the presented unit is effective only at a relatively low coolant temperature of 50-60°C. If the liquid in the circuit heats up higher, then moisture will no longer condense on the surface of the heat exchanger, and the boiler will operate with the efficiency of a conventional convection model.

In Russia, gas is the most affordable type of fuel. That is why owners of houses, cottages and small businesses prefer to heat their premises using a gas boiler. Old Soviet cast iron devices have been replaced by elegant and lightweight models. Foreign brands have penetrated the domestic market and are seriously competing with Russian equipment. On the one hand, the range of boilers has expanded, and on the other hand, buyers have problems with choosing suitable model. Expert recommendations will help you find gas boilers in the sea best option for your home.

How to choose a gas boiler

  1. Number of circuits. The selection should begin by determining the number of circuits. Single-circuit models are capable of providing heat to a heating system. To heat the water, you will have to buy an additional boiler. But double-circuit boilers simultaneously heat the house, providing residents with hot water.
  2. Installation. Based on the type of installation, there are floor-mounted and wall-mounted units. Floor-standing models boast higher power. At the same time, they are more bulky and heavy. Wall-mounted boilers look more elegant; they save space in the boiler room, which is important in cramped utility rooms.
  3. Power. The most important parameter of a heating device is thermal power. For houses with good insulation and standard rooms(height 3 m) it is customary to determine the power indicator using a simple formula. With 1 kW of heat energy you can heat an area of 10 square meters. m. In old houses with poor thermal insulation, it is necessary to install a boiler whose power is 20-50% higher than the calculated one. A double-circuit boiler is also selected to be approximately 20% more powerful, so that heating hot water does not negatively affect the temperature of the coolant. For example, for heating a dacha with an area of 70-80 square meters. m it will be enough to buy a boiler with a thermal power of 8-12 kW. A large house or cottage with an area of more than 200 sq. m is capable of heating a device with a power range of 22-35 kW. Experts do not advise chasing overly efficient models; frequently turning the burner on and off will strain residents.
  4. Safety. Gas equipment is considered a dangerous device for human life. Therefore, it is necessary to study the safety systems available in the boiler. The standard set of a modern gas boiler includes gas control, protection against overheating and pump blocking, autodiagnostics, and a safety valve.

Attention! This rating is subjective in nature, is not an advertisement and does not serve as a purchase guide. Before purchasing, consultation with a specialist is required.

What a large number of articles on this topic exist on the Internet and each of them is written as a carbon copy. Of course, there is a lot of benefit in this information and it will definitely help in choosing a gas boiler for your home. But at the same time, the main secrets of purchasing a boiler are not revealed there. But you're in luck. You will learn about them in this article. Therefore, less introduction and we begin to reveal the topic.

When comparing gas boilers, you will definitely be faced with the choice of floor-standing or wall version. And it's actually very difficult to tell you right choice. After all, each option has its pros and cons and each satisfies its own specific criteria. Therefore, let's divide them by importance.

Buy a wall-mounted gas boiler if:

  • You need more efficient work
  • We need all sorts of interesting operating modes
  • Requires compactness and minimum installation difficulties
  • If your house does not exceed 300 square meters

Choose a floor-standing gas boiler if:

  • You really big house or object
  • More important to you long term services (applies to cast iron boilers)
  • Need simplicity and stable operation
  • Do you want a non-volatile solution?
  • Are you ready to spend money on an additional chimney and other components?

Double-circuit or single-circuit boilers?

This applies more to wall-mounted models. The recommendation here will be simple. If you have a small house with one bathroom and a kitchen, then take a double-circuit boiler and use hot water from it.

If you have several bathrooms, then choose.

The main problem of double-circuit boilers is their low productivity. At the same time, such a device can provide one point of hot water. If there are several of them at once, problems may arise. For example, with a suddenly cold shower. Everyone has gone through it, everyone knows it and doesn’t want to repeat it. Therefore, it is better to install a boiler.

Boiler with the best gas consumption

When comparing gas boilers with each other, you will probably ask the seller: “what gas consumption will my 100-square-meter house have with your boiler?” The seller of brand X boilers will tell you that the consumption will be 5-6 cubic meters per day, and the seller of brand Y will give a figure of 7-8 cubic meters. You will be happy to buy the one in which the consumption will be less.

Do you know what your mistake will be? The fact is that you asked this question at all. Because not a single seller will give the correct gas consumption figure. Today, the reality is that gas consumption depends not so much on the boiler, but on the heat loss of your home. And every home will have their own!

The boiler itself performs the function of compensating for heat loss. From here, remember the main thing: when choosing a gas boiler in the same price segment from classmates, you will get similar gas consumption. Now these figures have long been equal for all brands. Therefore, you don’t have to worry too much about consumption.

Which boilers have the best efficiency?

As our practice shows, it is a rare brand that writes the truth about the efficiency of its boilers. And here's an example for you:

We have a gas boiler of the Ochag brand from the ServiceGaz plant. We study the technical characteristics and see that the efficiency of their Ochag Standard boiler is 92%:

Just good, we think, and we go to study similar boilers and come across one of the best floor-standing boilers today, Baxi Slim. We look at the efficiency and see a value of 90%.

Takes pride in the country! Our boilers are 3 times cheaper, and their productivity is also a couple of percent higher!

What is important for you to know about boiler efficiency? Wall-mounted boilers will always have higher efficiency than floor-mounted ones. It fluctuates around 92-93%. All wall-mounted boilers have similar efficiency. The ceiling was reached a long time ago and the difference is usually in hundredths of a percent.

The maximum efficiency of a floor-standing boiler is 90%. No brand has yet managed to achieve a higher figure. And this indicator is usually found only in expensive brands.

More power - more gas consumption

When choosing a gas boiler, you may often be faced with the fact that there is no suitable boiler for your area. Let’s say your house is 80 square meters, and you only have boilers from 15 kW.

An inexperienced buyer will look for boilers with a power of around 10 kW. An experienced person will buy what he likes. After all, in fact, it makes no difference with what power reserve you use a gas boiler. Your expenses will be similar.

As mentioned above, the boiler’s task is to compensate for heat loss in the house. A more powerful unit will simply do this faster. And the consumption will be comparable.

Aluminum or copper heat exchanger?

Among gas boilers, there are models with both the first and second heat exchanger. With copper it is still more common. An aggressive marketing policy convinced us that nothing could be cooler than copper. In general, this is true. But few people know that the efficiency of a boiler with an aluminum heat exchanger decreases by less than 1%. Therefore, if you come across an excellent boiler, then the heat exchanger in it is not copper, this is not a reason not to buy it.

But it is worth noting that using aluminum heat exchanger, the manufacturer is really trying to save money.

106% for condensing boilers

Sectional view of a condensing boiler

When choosing gas boilers, you may come across ones that are famous for their high efficiency. We talked about the design of these models in a separate article. Here we will tell you in what cases it is worth buying them.

It is important to understand the main thing - not one boiler can produce an efficiency higher than 100%. But manufacturers often like to write about an efficiency of 106% (the last figure can be any). Therefore, you should not pay attention to this indicator. The same principle applies here as was stated earlier - all condensing boilers have similar efficiency, higher than traditional ones, but below 100%.

condensing boiler operation diagram

You should only buy them if you use low temperature heating systems. Such as, for example, . It is at low temperature operating conditions that savings are achieved. In other modes, the behavior is the same as in traditional boilers.

The difference between an expensive wall-mounted boiler and a cheap one

In fact, for the main task - heating your room, you can easily choose the most budget wall-mounted gas boiler of brand X rather than the same brand, but from a more expensive segment. After all, their gas consumption will be absolutely the same.

Everything else is not always the necessary bells and whistles. Such as additional sound insulation, energy-efficient pump, functions, sophisticated display, etc.

Even now, in order to save money, they began to use tubes and connections made of composite materials in cheap boilers, and metal in more expensive ones. Whether this is good or bad, time will tell.

It is important to understand one thing: if you choose a boiler for the purpose of regular heating of the house, you can take even the simplest gas unit.

This is how the material turned out. Anything to add? Write about it in the comments!
