How to paint a wooden floor on an open balcony. How to paint the wooden floor on the balcony. Ceramic tiles and porcelain tiles, which is better

Regardless of whether you are the owner glazed balcony or not, it will certainly be useful for you to know how to cover the floor on the balcony when arranging this small, but additional space apartments.

not glazed

If your balcony is still not glazed, it is quite clear that the floor on it is constantly exposed to the active influence of precipitation and strong gusts of wind, and in winter it has to for a long time hide under a fluffy layer of snow. Accordingly, in the spring the snow melts, and the floor again has a hard time due to the formed significant layer of water.

Therefore, in this case it is very important to create a surface that is resistant to negative natural influences. It immediately comes to mind that the floor can be raised due to the formation of a new screed, and a reliable, durable coating, previously chosen by you, can be laid on top. We propose to consider everything in more detail and in order.

Option 1: Painting

You can simply take the concrete floor screed on the balcony and paint it with a special paint that is designed for outdoor work. Such paint, as a rule, lasts for three or four years. So, for this period of time you will not need to update.

It should be borne in mind that by painting the floor on the balcony, you will not be able to create a durable coating, since the paint is not designed for the loads associated with the pressure of gravity (furniture or other large items).

Option 2: Tile

If you plan to bring old, but still usable furniture here, then in this case it is better to cover the floor with tiles. By laying the tiles in accordance with all the rules, you will provide a protective layer to the concrete screed, and it will not collapse from falling rain on the balcony.

Laying tiles should begin with the outer row, and at the same time try to maintain a straight line. To neatly lay the tiles in the corners of the room, they should be cut at an angle of 45 °.

glazed

For a closed balcony, the floor design will be somewhat different. If you want to turn it into extra room where it is supposed to walk barefoot, please note that then the floor must be insulated to ensure comfort.

Most likely, in this case, it will be better for you to seek help from qualified builders. Works on flooring and floor insulation are carried out thoroughly, in several stages, the first of which is the creation of a high-quality concrete screed. Sheets of plywood or fiberboard are laid on top of the screed.

Option 1: Linoleum

The simplest and most affordable coating is linoleum. A variety of patterns depicted on linoleum allows you to expand design possibilities when decorating a balcony room.

Option 2: Laminate

As an option, you can consider laminated or wooden parquet or polished wooden board. The wooden floor is usually varnished or painted. He has huge advantage in front of other materials - walking on a wooden surface is warm and comfortable, and it does not harm health. But there is also a significant drawback: the boards dry out over time from cold and dampness.

Option 3: Tile

If you decide to make a warm floor with electric heating, then give Special attention balcony waterproofing. The ingress of moisture in this case is unacceptable. With the help of sealants, carefully seal the windows and insulate the walls and floor. Any modern foam material is suitable as a heater.

As you can see, having even the slightest experience in carrying out repairs will help you cope with the installation work on laying the floor on your own without the involvement of professionals. Nobody says that repair is easy. But, as they say, there would be only desire and essential tool at your fingertips and you'll be fine.

The necessary painting inside the balcony room is a very important stage of finishing. Consider all the tips and tricks for its successful implementation.

General requirements for paints

For different types different paints are suitable for wall surfaces and building materials to be painted. But when choosing a paint of a certain brand for working on a balcony, the following are taken into account General requirements To her:

  • The purchased paint should be intended for outdoor use, have an acceptable shelf life. The product must be certified and have a reputable bona fide manufacturer. At the first visual inspection after opening the container, there should not be any clots or lumps in the paint.
  • The paint must not emit toxic harmful substances during operation and after drying. For a residential or frequently visited balcony room, this condition is very important and mandatory.
  • It is desirable to select a material resistant to high humidity. This applies to cool and not fully insulated balconies, where humidity indicators depend on weather conditions and there is a high probability of condensation during temperature changes.
  • The UV resistance of the paint will allow surfaces to retain an attractive appearance for longer and not fade with periodic exposure to direct sun rays.
  • For glazing a balcony and window openings facing it, they are usually used frame structures from PVC. When choosing a composition for painting, take into account the possibility of its easy removal in case of accidental contact with the frame without damage. Paint removers should also not be aggressive to the surface of the PVC profiles.
  • For painting house walls overlooking the balcony, it is desirable to use vapor-permeable "breathing" materials. As a result, the walls will no longer be saturated with moisture and become damp.

Features of painting various surfaces

Preparation for painting, selection paintwork material and the performance of the main work have their own rules and nuances for various kinds surfaces (internal and external) of the balcony room. Consider the procedure for the most common surfaces.

  1. profiled sheet

This material is lined outside parapet and sides of the balcony. The profiled sheet is sold already painted. Re-painting is required for used material on which there are traces of corrosion, scratches, or in case of a decision to change color. For convenience and quality work sheets are pre-dismantled. Preparation includes: cleaning rust sandpaper; cleaning the surface with a solvent from dirt and oil stains; filling of visible dents and scratches; primer after the putty has dried. Now paint the surface with a spray gun. A brush will help in uncomfortable places. Recommended material for metal surfaces- varnish with a polyurethane, epoxy, alkyd or acrylic base.

  1. PVC panels

Preliminary preparation plastic panels very easy to paint. All surfaces are washed from dirt and degreased with alcohol or a solvent (a chemical composition is selected that is harmless to plastic). Most suitable for painting acrylic paints and scuba. Not fading in the sun, they are durable and easy to care for. On the balconies sunny side dark colors should not be used. When heated, the painted panels can deform and partially lose their performance properties.

  1. Chipboards

For a previously painted product, in the presence of cracks and flaking, it will be necessary to remove the old layer of paint. A special wash will help with this, building hair dryer, grinder or sandpaper. It is enough to grind a high-quality old coating with fine-grained sandpaper. The next step is cleaning from dirt, dust and degreasing with a solvent that does not leave a slippery residual film (acetone, white spirit). Now it's time to apply two layers of deep penetrating primer. After its final drying, proceed to painting.

Recommended paints - acrylic, oil. Acrylic is non-toxic, dries quickly, has excellent adhesion to various materials, may be with decorative effect(fluorescent, mother-of-pearl, metallic colors and others), available in aerosol cans. Oil Coatings are good chipboard protection from humidity. Their disadvantages are the lack of vapor permeability; when dried, they have a strong bad smell(before drying, the balcony room must be ventilated, and the entrance to the apartment and the window should be kept closed).

After the paint has dried, it is recommended to apply a layer of varnish on the chipboard surface (2 layers are possible). Lacquered slab will now have a richer and more deep color. Lacquer coating is also an additional protection against wear.

  1. brick wall

We begin surface preparation with cleaning from dirt and sagging masonry mortar. It is convenient to do this with a metal brush with a spatula connected. For accuracy, masonry seams can be additionally puttied. If old paint remains on the walls, it is completely removed. grinder, coarse sandpaper or a wire brush. You should also check the brick wall for fungus or mold damage. If the result of the inspection is positive, it will be necessary to clean the affected areas and treat the entire wall with a special impregnation.

Priming a brick wall - then applying paint
  1. Concrete wall

Surface preparation for work includes all the preparatory steps, as before painting a brick wall. The difference is only in the recommended paints for the base coat. For concrete surfaces of walls and parapets, the most suitable paints are made on a silicate and plastic basis. Exterior painting should be carried out in suitable weather (dry, not very sunny).

  1. Wooden lining

Such a surface requires very careful preparation. The tree must be protected from fungus and insects, made less flammable material. For this, special impregnations with antiseptics and fire retardants are used. All noticeable defects are leveled with a special putty on wood, and the roughness is cleaned and polished with sandpaper.

For painting, you can choose:

  • Acrylic paints. The resulting coating is elastic, waterproof, does not crack, is resistant to precipitation and temperature fluctuations, does not fade from bright sunlight, retains its shine and original color for a long time.
  • Oil paints are a durable, cheaper, water-repellent material. Over time, they fade, the process of painting and drying is accompanied by a strong poisonous smell.
  • Acrylic scuba tanks are safe, non-toxic, vapor-permeable, non-flammable materials.
  • Alkyd varnishes are resistant to mechanical stress, penetrate deeply and emphasize the natural structure of wood. Disadvantages - dry for a long time with the release of a strong odor, have low wear resistance.
  1. Drywall

The joints of drywall sheets and fasteners are sealed with polymer putties. Primed with water-soluble compounds. Paint drywall water-based paint at least 2 layers.

  • If the walls of the balcony room are not monophonic, try to combine up to three different colors at the same time. color shades. Black and white colors are not taken into account.
  • For balconies and loggias on the sunny side, paints of dark shades and tones are not suitable. dark walls, absorbing solar energy will heat up quickly. If the air temperature at this time is much lower than the heated wall, then there is a high probability of condensation.
  • For external painting of the balcony, choose colors that match the facade of the building.
  • The weather also affects the quality of painting work. In rain or high humidity, the paint dries for a very long time and not evenly. Raindrops on fresh paint outside balcony can spoil the appearance and mood of the owners of the balcony. When hot, the paint seizes very quickly and does not have time to spread evenly over the surface.
  • It is advisable to tint the primer under the main paint in the color of the finish coat. After such preparation, places with a thinner layer of applied paint will not stand out.
  • During the painting process, it is convenient to paint various parts of the surface different instrument. Therefore, it does not hurt to have rollers, a sprayer and brushes of different sizes on hand.
  • Before work, you need to make sure that the color or tone of the paint matches the idea of \u200b\u200bthe final result. To do this, the paint is applied to small plot surfaces. When it dries, you can make a final conclusion about compliance.
  • The quality of the painting is indicated by the uniformity of color on the painted surface. This is not difficult to achieve. In order for the consistency of the working material to be homogeneous and the dye particles do not settle to the bottom of the container over time, the paint must be thoroughly mixed not only before application, but also periodically during operation.
  • It is recommended to buy the necessary paint, primer and varnish from one manufacturer. Such materials are fully compatible, which will positively affect the quality of painting work.
  • Remember to use masking tape and masking tape to protect adjacent surfaces that will not be painted.
  • For painting walls made of brick and concrete, it is better not to use paints on oil based. Not being a vapor-permeable material, they cause unwanted accumulation of moisture. The result of high humidity is the defeat of the wall material by microorganisms and its premature destruction.
  • ends wooden lining require very careful processing with preparatory compounds and paint.

The right choice of paint, high-quality surface preparation for work and accurate painting will allow you to forget about updating the walls of the balcony for a long time. It remains to switch to other things. On the balcony you can now relax, not work.

Wooden material for finishing the loggia is the most popular. Although it is not cheap, it is still profitable, since the processing area is not too large and the assembly is very simple. Most often, cladding boards made of wood are used for walls and ceilings. But before covering the floor on the balcony, it is necessary to apply means to protect against fire, moisture, fungus and mold, and then varnish or paint.

This wooden material sensitive to the influence of moisture, temperature changes and the effects of woodworm bugs. And everyone is well aware that if you carry out erroneous care for such a finish, then the wood will age and lose its attractive appearance. Therefore, the owners of loggias have a question: how to process the lining on the balcony in order to maintain its beautiful appearance and make the material remain durable for a long period of time?

This is extremely necessary if you bought a sheathing that was not processed at the factory, but for planks with a “Europrofile” (thickness - twelve point and five tenths of a millimeter, working width (without a spike) - eighty-eight millimeters, total width (with a spike ) - ninety-six millimeters) already during their creation, impregnation with an antiseptic is provided.

If this type of wall cladding is poorly processed, then the cladding will become darker over time, peel off, and may rot. To increase its resistance to bad influences and keep this substance durable is obtained with the help of good processing and its subsequent coating.

How to process boards

The processing of these boards is carried out in several stages:

Covering agents

In order to cover the finish of the loggia, the following types of varnish are used:

  1. In a room with glazing, it is better to use a water-based substance that dries quickly, does not contain a solvent, and does not smell. May consist only of the base or of it and the hardener (more durable). Not resistant to sharp fluctuations temperatures. It should not be used in rooms with very humid air.
  2. The alkyd product has pungent odor and takes a very long time to dry. Suitable for any type of loggia. Resistant to mechanical and external influences, able to repel water.
  3. Acrylic product protects from the influence of direct sunlight, it must be diluted with alcohol or water. Apply in two layers. The first layer is the varnish itself, the second is the layer to create the shade.
  4. A product containing polyurethane in its composition retains the natural color of the finishing material, while being toxic.

The most suitable protection option when solving such an issue - how to cover the floor on the balcony, is a high-quality water-based varnish that retains the texture of the skin, because this product is elastic, resistant to abrasion and cold, does not crack or peel off.

When coating the material for finishing with varnish, the following steps must be carried out:

  • cover the surface with a primer;
  • apply the first layer of varnish and wait for it to dry;
  • apply the final coat of varnish.

In addition to varnish, it is permissible to use water-based paint or stain. Alkyd paints are resistant to cold. Oil-based paints should not be used because these compounds get very deep into the skin structure and make re-treatment more difficult.

The main difference between varnish and paint is that varnish does not distort natural look boards, and the paint gives them a different color. If the wood structure needs to be hidden, see the procedure.

Thus, it is possible to conclude that there are suitable answers to the questions: how to cover the floor on the balcony and how to cover the lining on the balcony. Wooden boards will be an excellent option for sheathing the entire loggia.

And for the boards themselves, impregnation with an antiseptic substance must first be provided, and then lacquer coating based on water.

The wagon is very popular. It is used for finishing the facades of buildings for various purposes, as well as interior spaces. Balconies and loggias are often trimmed with this material. However, it should be noted that this natural material requires special care. That is why it is necessary to carefully consider how to process and how to paint the lining on the balcony.

This is natural finishing material made from wood. The lining of the lining, especially on the balcony, requires protection from aggressive influences. external environment. For example, it can be fungi, ultraviolet, high humidity and other.

One of the options for protective measures is painting. She also performs decorative function. Depending on the design tasks set, painting will help highlight the natural texture of wood or, conversely, hide and fit the decoration of the walls and floor of the balcony into general interior apartments.

Lining on the balcony is usually processed using the following means:

  • moisture protective compositions;
  • various types of antiseptics: transparent and translucent, film-forming and impregnating;
  • paints: dispersion and oil;
  • all kinds of varnishes.

Each of them performs its function, has its own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, it is important, before painting the lining on the balcony, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the features of the coatings, their physical characteristics and evaluate the feasibility of their use.

Antiseptic treatment is mandatory for lining, which is used for balcony cladding. As a rule, such processing is carried out before the installation of the trim, and the panels are processed on both sides. Let's see how you can paint the balcony lining from the lining.

Lucky

If you decide to apply varnish to the lining, then it is important to know that the resulting coating may differ in its chemical and physical characteristics. The decisive factor in this matter is the basis of the composition.

  • Water. The main advantage of such compounds is their safety. Ecologically clean materials, which are used in production, provide the coating with hypoallergenicity, the almost complete absence of a characteristic odor and other advantages.

Among the minuses, certain restrictions on their use can be noted, which are associated with the fact that the scuba coating is not sufficiently resistant to direct exposure to an aggressive external environment, therefore it is recommended to use varnishes of this type only for painting inner lining from this material glazed balcony or loggia.

  • Alkyd. In contrast to the previous version, this varnish can be used in almost any room and in any climatic conditions, since after painting the lining, a water-repellent film forms on it. This is especially valuable for areas with high levels of humidity. It is also worth noting that thanks to the film, the level of impact resistance of the coating increases.

Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting Strong smell varnish and excessively long drying time.

  • Acrylic. Provide sheathing good protection from direct exposure to ultraviolet radiation and moisture. They do not contain harmful volatile components, that is, they are absolutely safe. Acrylic varnishes low cost and a wide range of colors. Before use, the product must be diluted with ethereal alcohol or water until the desired consistency is obtained. The composition is applied in two layers: the first is protective, and the second is necessary to obtain the desired shade of finish. You can use it both outside and inside the balcony. The varnish coat dries quickly.
  • Polyurethane. It is intended exclusively for external painting of lining. It is concentrated important benefits varnishes on other bases: moisture and frost resistance, effective protection against UV radiation, fast drying, long service life.

However, as noted above, polyurethane varnish suitable only for exterior cladding, given its toxicity and specific odor.

For reference!

When performing finishing work, protective equipment is used, for example, a respirator, and in the absence of such, a tight gauze bandage.

Criteria for choosing varnish for different rooms

Lacquer for wooden panels must match the following parameters:

However, choosing a varnish for different rooms, their features should be taken into account:

  • The best option when finishing the inner lining of the lining - scuba gear, since they do not pose any danger to people or animals. True, they are absolutely not suitable for rooms where the level of moisture is high, such as a bathroom or kitchen. The decoration on the balcony is covered with a double layer of scuba lacquer: the first one functions as an antiseptic, the second layer is decorative.
  • Painting lining in a country house primarily plays a protective role. First of all, it protects the coating from direct sunlight and ultraviolet radiation. Acrylic lacquer is considered the most suitable option for these conditions.
  • When processing wall cladding in a bath, compounds are used that are able to withstand extreme temperatures. Synthetic options for solving these problems are not suitable, since in "bath" conditions they will release toxic harmful substances. For such cases, paints and varnishes are more suitable, the main component of which are natural oils. They will maintain the natural balance of the room.

Useful little things

  • Minor Defects before varnishing, it is preferable to eliminate using home-made putty from a mixture of sawdust that remain after cutting the lining panels, with PVA glue. After the glue dries, the putty will not differ in color from the color of the walls.
  • As already noted, tinted varnishes are used to emphasize the texture of wood, which makes the pattern of the lining more expressive. As an alternative to these varnishes, the panels can be pretreated with stain.
  • When painting the lining in two layers, the panels with the already dried first layer of paint or varnish must be sanded. If this is not done, the skin will be rough to the touch, since when the wood is moistened, a fine pile rises on its surface.
  • When choosing a varnish, give preference to compositions containing the so-called UV barrier, since when exposed to direct sunlight, the wood darkens in these areas.

Paints

Lining paint is used in special cases. Under such a coating, you can hide the defects of the lining or its texture, if the design requires it.

  • Oil. Suitable for lining lining Oil paint any brand. It is perfectly absorbed into the lining structure, provides strong protection against moisture, as well as ultraviolet radiation, and allows the tree to “breathe”. The skin after such processing becomes more resistant to various aggressive influences, does not crack.

Oil paint can be applied to the interior as well as outer skin from the wagon. And yet, it is not without flaws: firstly, it dries slowly - the process lasts at least 7 hours and can even drag on for several days until it completely stops sticking, and secondly, the dark-colored paint on the skin burns out over time.

  • On the water based. This is an excellent protection of wood from moisture and ultraviolet rays. Scuba coating retains color saturation and shine much longer, and it dries much faster.

  • Thickened alkyd. Paints of this type are produced on the basis of high-quality drying oil. The composition is diluted to the desired consistency, preferably using the same substance. When the lining is finished with this paint, a frost-resistant film forms on its surface. She is not threatened by any deformation or cracking. Thanks to the film, sheathing on long years retains its original appearance. That's why this way it is especially recommended for those regions where the cold climate prevails.
  • Front. These compositions are characterized by good elasticity, high level of moisture resistance. They are durable, easy to apply, able to mask flaws on the surface of the tree. Such paint is also suitable for painting lining with an old coating or a layer of dust that is difficult to clean. The only downside facade paints is a very small selection of shades.

For reference!

If it is necessary to preserve the texture and color of wood, it is recommended to use transparent or slightly tinted varnishes. The paint will not only completely hide the texture of the wood, but also completely change the color of the walls to any desired.

Impregnation

  • The easiest way to protect wood is stain impregnation. For its budget cost, it is quite effective. After high-quality impregnation, the wood will successfully resist the processes of decay, mold and fungus. True, the color scheme of the stain does not differ in particular variety. For external processing, a special stain is used, which contains additives that prevent the color from fading.

  • Wax-based coating compounds are more suitable for areas with increased level humidity. After use, a moisture-resistant, heat-protective film that is resistant to ultraviolet is formed on the surface of the wood. The resulting coating has good heat and frost resistance. In addition, it gives the surface a shine. Depending on the composition, it can be either soft matte or glossy. This is an excellent option for protecting lining from lining on the balconies of houses located in regions with difficult climatic conditions, for example, with constant fluctuations in temperature or humidity.

For reference!

The lining will retain its natural shade if it is treated with colorless fire-retardant compounds.

The sequence of painting lining

This process takes place in several stages:

  • preparatory, which involves cleaning the surface of dirt, like old dyes, and grinding;
  • treatment with antiseptics or a primer that is similar in color to the main dye;
  • direct application of paints and varnishes.

Preparatory work

First of all, the strips are cleaned of dirt and remnants of the previous coating.

  • Contaminants are cleaned using improvised materials such as a coarse brush, sandpaper or pumice stone.
  • Old paint and varnish can be removed in several ways:
  • chemical - with the help of specialized means;
  • mechanical, which is resorted to in the case of a too thick or very old layer of paintwork;
  • thermal, which involves preheating this layer.

Particular attention should be paid to the presence of possible cracks and chips on the surface of the lining. These areas, as well as places of potential formation of defects, are carefully treated with sandpaper.

Working with antiseptics

Considering high level humidity on the balcony, you can expect the appearance of fungus. Therefore, wood panels must certainly be treated with an antiseptic:

  • translucent glazing compositions that do not overlap the texture of the wood;
  • opaque coating compositions that cover the texture;
  • in the case of an unglazed balcony, it is also necessary to apply a water-repellent layer;
  • it is desirable to additionally treat the tree with a fire retardant;

For reference!

Antiseptic solutions not only prevent the occurrence of fungus and mold. They are able to serve as a decorating layer themselves.

  • The resulting layer must dry, after which it is polished.

Application of paint material

Lacquer (paint) is applied with a roller or brush. In some cases, a spray gun is also used. Apply the compositions along the plank in a thin layer, making long continuous movements. How more difficult conditions operation of the lining, the large quantity layers must be applied (at least three).

  • Before applying the dye to the previous, well-dried layer, its surface is treated with zero sandpaper so that the dye lies evenly and smudges do not form.
  • Last layer applied from top to bottom so that unwanted bubbles and streaks do not form on the surface.
  • Work is recommended to be carried out in warm days at normal humidity. In this case, the paint (varnish) will dry evenly.

Note!

Working with chemical compounds need to be especially careful. The work is carried out, observing the precautionary measures: they put on tight gloves, and protect their eyes with glasses, they ventilate the room.

Specialization: master in construction drywall constructions, finishing works and styling floor coverings. Installation of door and window blocks, facade finishing, installation of electrics, plumbing and heating - I can give detailed advice on all types of work.

Balcony painting - the most cheap option its transformation, so if you want to refresh this part of your home, then this article will help you to carry out the work efficiently. I will tell you what compositions you need to use for different surfaces. We will also figure out how to properly prepare the surface so that the compositions lay down as well as possible and last as long as possible.

What nuances need to be dealt with before starting work

Balconies and loggias are designs that can be very different from each other, even if they are located side by side, their interior decoration can be completely different. Accordingly, the technology of work is also changing.

Therefore, before starting any action, you need to determine several important aspects:

Construction type If you have an open balcony or loggia, then you will have to use only weatherproof paints. If the structure is insulated, then the work will not differ from those that are carried out in the apartment.
Purpose of repair In order to simply refresh the appearance of surfaces, it is necessary to minimally prepare them and paint them. But if you want to get a more attractive result, you may need additional work: repairing irregularities, plastering surfaces, etc.
Base types On the balcony you can find a variety of types of materials: from brick and concrete to wood, plastic, drywall and metal. Naturally, each of the options is colored in its own way, and below I will go into detail about this aspect.
Types of work carried out There are two main options - external and interior work and they are very different from each other. When painting exterior surfaces, it is important to observe safety precautions, and also remember that the color of the facade must be the same on all balconies. Inside, everything is simpler, because you can choose any color scheme the main thing is that you like it
Surface condition This factor does not directly affect the painting work, but it determines the preparatory measures. If you want to make it the best it can be, full plastering or finishing may be necessary. facing material, as well as pouring the screed or self-levelling. These operations are carried out in advance so that the compositions are completely dry.

Work is best done in warm weather without precipitation, optimum temperature environment- from 15 to 25 degrees. If your balcony is insulated, then you can work inside almost at any time of the year.

Types of bases and features of their staining

Now we will deal with different options materials that are used in the construction and decoration of balconies, and consider how to paint them correctly and what compositions are best used. I will talk about those options, the reliability and quality of which I am sure, and which are not difficult to use.

Metal constructions

On open balconies, metal railings are most often installed, also often for exterior finish a profiled sheet is used, which over time may lose its attractiveness and require staining. First, let's figure out what kind of paint to use:

  • In order not to waste a lot of time on thorough surface preparation and not to apply a primer coat, it is easiest to use special formulations"3 in 1", which include a primer, anti-corrosion additives and the paint itself;
  • The composition dries quickly, fits well and has a wide range of colors, which will allow you to get the most suitable option for any balcony;
  • Consumption averages 200-300 grams per square meter. As for the cost, high-quality paint can be bought at a price of 300 rubles per 0.9 kg can. If you have railings, then for the convenience of coloring them, you can use the composition in an aerosol package.

Now let's look at the workflow:

  • Surfaces must first be cleaned, and then inspected for corrosion and areas where the old coating does not hold well;
  • Then you need to remove old paint where it does not hold well, if desired, you can remove the entire layer, but this will take a lot of time and require a lot of effort. All foci of corrosion must be cleaned as thoroughly as possible, this is perhaps the most important aspect all preparation, because even a special composition will not save you from rust if you do not remove all layers;

  • If the profiled sheet is painted, then it also needs to be cleaned, if there is such an opportunity, then it is better to remove the elements, but most often you have to work right on the spot. Even if there is no rust on the surface, it must be treated with fine sandpaper so that the new paint fits better on the surface;
  • Before painting a railing or profiled sheet, be sure to degrease the surface. Wipe it with thinner or gasoline, this will get rid of small particles of grease, as well as dust that inevitably settles on the surface. This operation must be carried out immediately before staining;
  • Often the question arises - how to paint the outside of all surfaces? There can be two options: the first one involves working from the inside, you need to insure yourself with a rope and, bending over the parapet, paint the surface from the bottom up, the second method involves the use of scaffolding, it is safer, but you can not always use it in high-rise buildings;

  • The composition is applied either with a brush or roller, it all depends on the type of surface. Coloring is best done in two layers, the composition must be mixed before use, if necessary, you can add a little solvent (all information is written on the package).

Painting of brick, concrete and plastered surfaces

This type of base is very common, which is not surprising, because multi-story houses built from slabs and bricks. Ordinary grey colour- not the best background for a cozy balcony, but even if the surfaces were painted, they fade over time, and the composition begins to crack, so it needs to be updated periodically.

As for the paint, I advise using facade acrylate compositions, they fit perfectly on concrete, plaster, and brick and have high resistance to moisture and ultraviolet radiation. An additional plus of such compositions is that they are available in white, and you can give them any shade with the help of special pigments.

The price of the compositions is about 800 rubles for a package of 4.5 liters, about the same amount is needed for an average balcony when painting in two layers.

Now let's deal with the workflow, it starts with preparatory activities, and they differ depending on the type of foundation. Let's look at the most common options:

  • If you have brickwork, then first of all it is necessary to clean the surface of the solution, the particles of which most often remain during masonry. Also to improve appearance you need to clean the seams if they are sloppy, that is, it makes sense to fill them with mortar and level them, the work is simple, but it will take a lot of time, because you will have to process all the seams on the walls. After the solution dries, its residues are also erased from the surface;

  • Concrete walls must be cleaned of dust and debris and carefully inspected for cracks, if any, they must be repaired cement mortar. I also recommend checking the plane with a level or even rail, it is often uneven, in this case it is advisable to carry out plaster work, as the paint will highlight all the flaws;
  • Plastered surfaces are prepared as follows: first, the surface is carefully inspected, if there are cracks on it, then all such areas must be tapped. If the sound is booming, then the finish has peeled off and needs to be removed. If everything is held firmly, then you can simply repair the cracks with a plaster mortar.

If during the preparation of the bases you notice pockets of fungus or mold, then you need to eliminate them. To do this, black plaque is carefully removed (if it is on plaster, then it is better to beat it off and apply new composition), and then treatment is carried out with special solutions that will destroy the spores of the fungus and protect the surface from its recurrence.

Now let's figure out how to paint these surfaces with your own hands. The work is quite simple, it is important to follow all the recommendations:

  • First of all, with the help of a broom, you need to clean the surface of dust; a vacuum cleaner can also be used for this purpose;
  • The surface is covered with a strengthening primer, it is desirable that antifungal additives be present in it. The composition is applied in one layer, try to ensure that the entire surface is completely covered. Too much primer should also not be applied, do not leave smudges on the surface;

  • You must decide in advance what color to paint the balcony, and purchase either ready composition or base paint white color and a special pigment with which you yourself will give it the desired shade. When choosing a particular option, you must take into account the color of the rest of the furnishings and the furniture used;

If you are preparing a certain shade yourself, but you need to mix the pigment in all the paint that will be used at once. It is almost impossible to prepare the same shade twice by hand.

  • Do-it-yourself painting inside is done either with a roller, if the surfaces are smooth, or with a brush, if you have Brick wall, since with its help you can apply the composition to all seams. If you have an airbrush, then this simplifies the process even more, but most often there is no such equipment, because it is mainly used by professionals. When painting, apply the composition evenly, avoiding smudges;

There is another option on how to decorate a balcony: you can paint a brick in different colors, then you will get a very cheerful motley. The seams in this case are made dark or light to emphasize each element even more. As for smooth walls, you can make lines or patterns on them with masking tape and also paint the surface in different colors.

Separately, you need to consider how to paint the concrete floor, because this surface is subjected to increased loads. In this case, I advise using polyurethane-based compounds, as they have excellent abrasion resistance and retain an attractive appearance for a very long time.

Preparing the floor is no different from preparing other surfaces, the main thing to remember is that you need to paint from the farthest corner towards the exit so that you can exit the balcony without stepping on the painted floor.

Painting wood, plywood, chipboard and fiberboard

These materials are often used in interior decoration insulated loggias, because with their help you can quickly transform the space and make it cozy. First of all, you need to figure out which paint is better to paint the balcony inside, if it is finished with wood-based materials, everything is simple here: use the compositions on acrylic base, they can be both matte and glossy and are inexpensive - a liter will cost from 200 rubles.

As for the workflow, it consists of the following stages:

  • First of all, it is necessary to clean the surface of dirt, all stains must be removed. If there are elements that are not securely held, then they must be fixed, it is important that the surface is strong and clean;
  • Putty is made using an acrylic composition, which has good strength and ductility, which simplifies work. The process is simple: you need to prepare the required amount of the composition and fill in all the bumps and damage with it. If, after drying, the putty sagged a little (this is the norm), then you need to apply another layer;

  • Next, you need to walk along the surface with fine-grained sandpaper, if you have smooth materials, then you can skip this step;
  • The primer allows you to protect the surface from moisture and strengthen it. For added reliability, I advise using acrylic-based formulations with the addition of antiseptic components. The work is done as follows: one layer is applied, after it dries, the surface is checked for raised pile, if there are such areas, then they need to be cleaned, and then another layer is applied;

  • After the primer has dried, staining is carried out; for this, the composition is prepared as recommended on the package and applied to the surface. After the first layer has dried, a second layer must be applied to ensure a more even color and better protect the material from adverse effects.

You also need to figure out which paint is best for wood or chipboard floors, here the usual acrylic version will not work. Purchase special compounds for these purposes, there is always an indication on the bank that they are intended for the floor and have increased wear resistance.

Drywall painting

This material is also often used in the finishing of insulated structures. Naturally, it is better to use a moisture-resistant option, since temperature and humidity drops on the balcony are still greater than in living rooms, and the regular one may start to swell.

There will be no question of how to paint the balcony inside - in any store it’s easy huge selection, but I advise you not to buy the cheapest option, but to choose a better solution. Personally, in such cases, I use latex-based compounds, they are resistant to moisture, and the surface can be wiped damp cloth, which allows you to maintain perfect cleanliness on the balcony. A liter of good paint costs about 190 rubles.

As for the preparation of surfaces, it makes no sense to describe the process of puttying and leveling, there are a lot of materials on this topic and there is no point in considering them here. I will talk about the option when you already have a finished wall that was previously painted, but the coating has already burned out or has begun to crack and peel off.

The workflow consists of several steps:

  • First of all, it is necessary to clean it of dust and dirt and inspect for damage and cracks. If there are damaged areas, then they need to be puttied, often during operation, scratches and indentations appear on the surface from impacts with various objects;
  • Priming is a mandatory part of the workflow, especially if you will be painting the wall in a different color.. The primer will allow you to close the old layer and improve the adhesion of the paint. Without priming, you may need to paint the wall 3-4 times until it becomes solid, you can handle the primer in two layers;

If you want to paint light paint on a wall that used to be dark, I suggest adding about a quarter of white paint to the primer to make the surface much lighter.

  • Now let's figure out how to paint a balcony, for this it is best to use a roller, since with its help the composition will be distributed as evenly as possible over the entire surface. Narrow brushes can be used for corners and junctions.

I want to talk about how to carry out the work of staining in two or more colors. To do this, you first need to apply a base coat of the desired shade, and then use masking tape to make stripes or any other shapes. Next, the necessary areas are painted, and then the painting is removed, and you get the desired result.
