Strawberry apple variety. The most unhealthy fruits - why you can’t eat apples and strawberries. Are organic fruits different from regular ones?

Apple tree varieties

5 years ago I bought 3 seedlings of the early summer variety Daria from the Korochaevsky nursery. Seedlings on dwarf rootstock. The trees grew small, rather medium-sized, a meter high, 3 meters each. The foliage is dense, the crown is spreading. They began to bear fruit in the 3rd year. The harvest is stable and quite rich. There should be no interruptions in fruiting.
The fruits of Daryushka, as we affectionately call it, are yellowish with browned sides, medium in size. The taste is closer to sweet, there is a slight sourness, the juiciness is average. The flesh is cream-colored. The weight of 1 apple rarely reaches 150 grams. Average weight 90-100 grams.
It has moderate resistance to diseases; preventive treatment is necessary. Winter hardiness is high. I heard that it is actively grown even...

The apple tree captivated me with the unusual color of its pulp. It is completely red and uniform, only the area near the seed is pink and sometimes white. The tree began to bear fruit quickly. Already in the 2nd year I tasted the first fruits. Very tasty apples, sweet.
The tree is a dwarf tree, it is low, so I tied some branches to pegs so that they would not break from the weight of the fruit. I tied it with regular twine. I haven’t done any pruning for 2 years after planting the apple tree. Before the first fruiting, it is generally better to abandon it. And here mature tree on the contrary, he loves a haircut. I definitely remove strongly drooping branches; nothing good will come from them.
Fruits without damage or rot go to...

The tree is truly unusual; in the first years the branches literally bent over the ground, covered it and could be compared to a carpet. True, over time, the trunk began to rise and now the tree has reached 1.5 meters in height. The tree is literally strewn with apples, and they are all large; I have been collecting 50-60 kg per tree for the 3rd year already. After 3 years it began to bear fruit, now it is already 7 years old and the yields are simply amazing.
I also rate the taste highly, but the apples are not very juicy, they are beautiful in appearance, yellow with a slight red blush. Fully ripen at the end of August. They stay good for 2 months without refrigeration, then they spoil. If they...

“A Gift for Gardeners” is an autumn-ripening apple tree that was purchased for our plot not long ago, but I already have my own tricks for caring for it. We chose 2014 for planting and already in 2017 there were 4 apples on it. We bought a 50 cm cutting, with soil, without buds, planted it in a lighted place, without other plantings, planting was done in early spring as soon as the snow melted. The planting site was prepared according to the basic agrotechnical features of caring for apple trees, taking into account the subsequent growth of the tree in height and width. The apple tree took root, began to grow and strengthen the trunk.
Appearance of the tree: long branches, small leaves, 5 apples...

Apple tree varieties

Apple trees were planted 5 years ago on summer cottage. Now they have grown to 4 meters in height. The crown is spreading; when planting, they specially left 4 meters between the trees. There are few branches on the tree, the crown is round in shape. Almost every year apple trees produce good harvest, ripen together, we collect everything in one go. From the 4th year we collect at least 50 kilograms from the apple tree.
The taste of apples is sweet and sour, with a wonderful caramel aroma. The pulp is fine-grained. Apples are unusually juicy and produce a good juice yield. For powdery mildew, it is necessary to treat with fungicides in early spring, before the buds open. In spring and summer we regularly water - once every...

These apples are very attractive in appearance: bright, burgundy color, All - same size, large and shiny. I was also impressed by the fact that this variety stores well. It was not possible to buy the seedlings right away; they were ordered from an online store. There were some doubts as to whether the variety was real, but in the 3rd year we were able to verify the seller’s integrity. We set up a good drainage system in each hole - we added large pebbles to the bottom of each hole. We didn't water often - we already have enough rainfall. The soil near the trunk was mulched 2 times a month.
In the first 2 years, they paid a lot of attention to the formation of the crown of apple trees - they removed those branches that began to grow inward, in the direction...

The Zorka variety has very tasty apples. They are also good in appearance: so bright crimson, with a slight “gray hair” - a waxy coating. The taste is juicy and sweet - simply delicious! They can be stored after collection, and this happens in September, almost until March. They don’t lose their taste or appearance.
The apple tree grows well here in Belarus. I don't know about other regions. Winter hardiness is good, it has never frozen, although winters can be frosty.
The tree itself is medium in size, the crown is not very spreading. The care is normal. But the main thing is that there is no scab and is not susceptible to such a disease. I really love this variety and take care of the apple tree with pleasure - watering and fertilizing. By the way, the first apples...

They were planted in the fall, the apple trees overwintered safely and bloomed in the first year. I tore off the flowers so that the trees would gain strength for further fruiting. In subsequent years, the trees withstood severe winter frosts and spring frosts and began to bear full fruit from the 4th year after planting. Apples are the largest of all the varieties available at our summer cottage. Each weighing 200-250 grams.
They ripen unevenly; we harvest the first ones in mid-September, and finish harvesting a month later. Their rich color indicates ripeness - a bright red blush throughout the apple. Also, when fully ripe, they taste sweet with slight sourness. Stored...

Apple tree varieties

This variety of apple trees belongs to the early-fruiting variety, since it begins to fully bear fruit already in the 3rd year after planting the seedlings. Another remarkable feature of this variety is its dwarf trees. Our apple trees are 6 years old, but they have grown only 2 meters in height. Harvesting is very convenient. Pruning and supports are definitely necessary - the trees have a high yield and branches can break under the weight of the fruit.
It tolerates frosts very well. Here in the Lipetsk region they reach 30-35, but these trees winter safely all years. This variety also tolerates dry summers well, but to get a good harvest, I make sure to water the trees. I do this at least once...

The Aphrodite apple tree has a beautiful name, apples, and excellent taste. Size about 100 g. Yellowish-green and crimson blush. Some of the flesh is riddled with red veins. The tree itself is not large, compact. Ripens in September. They are considered neither a summer variety nor a winter one. They don't last long in storage. Until November maximum. Pleasant, sweet apples taste.
The yield is average; from a 6-year-old tree I harvest no more than 15 kg. Apples go well fresh. You can easily eat 5 pieces at a time. One year I made cider from apples. This variety makes an excellent drink. Jam, marmalade, we can wait for them too...

The variety “Sladkaya Nega” was bought at a nursery on purpose; we have severe frosts and other varieties of apple trees do not winter well. These seedlings were planted in late autumn 5 years ago. Over the years we have had winters with frosts up to 40, the apple trees survived them safely. For the first couple of years, we wrapped the trunks with special material, when we grew a little older we began to tolerate the cold just fine.
The trees do not grow tall; now each one is 2.5-3 meters in height. The variety began to bear fruit in the 3rd year, but there were only 5-10 apples. Only this year we harvested a full harvest. The apples were mostly of medium weight - 120-160 grams each, they were large, but not much...

We love this variety because it has good shelf life - apples can be stored easily for six months and do not spoil. The variety was bred in distant Japan. We have had the tree for 7 years already; in the first years it grew very actively; in spring and autumn we had to trim off excess shoots and actively form the crown. Now it has reached 4 meters in height. The crown of the tree is rounded, not thickened. The skeletal branches are quite strong, but in years of good harvests I always put up supports - I don’t want the branches to break off.
The apple tree blooms late - most often at the end of May. Thanks to this, the flowers are not susceptible to frost. Pollinating varieties grow next to this apple tree - Jonathan and Idared. Apples...

Apple tree varieties

The apple trees of this variety are vigorous and grew very quickly after planting. The crown is not prone to excessive thickening, there is not much hassle with it. Fruiting is mixed, apples are formed on different branches. The main feature of the variety is that it belongs to triploid, it needs 2 pollinators at once. Idared, Orange Pepin and Jonathan are the best. The fruits on the tree are formed large and ripen simultaneously; smaller than 180 grams are not obtained. With good weather conditions and proper care it was possible to get giants weighing 250 grams. The skin of apples is very smooth, dense and elastic, covered with a waxy coating. Therefore, there are no problems with transportation and storage. The fruits are very tasty and the pulp is juicy...

I like the Moscow Necklace variety. We have planted a whole hundred of them! The only thing that is necessary is to trim the side branches that are too elongated and to cover the trunks from rodents for the winter. That's it, then just watering and fertilizing.
The holes for the apple trees were not dug too deep, but they were filled with rotted manure and fertilizers were sprinkled. It was in the spring, five years ago. Planting pattern: meter - by meter. The top must be pinched immediately. The trunks were whitened and the apple trees were observed during the summer. The first year they were attacked by all and sundry: aphids and codling moths, spider mite and ants. I had to spray it with Fitoferm, then a month later again with Aktara. The apple trees also defeated the pests...

It’s not for nothing that the name of this variety is translated as “Raspberry Star” - the fruits are really similar to raspberries in both shape and color. The same bright carmine, rich colors, sometimes even with a purple tint, fragrant. The pulp of unripe apples is light green and sour in taste, while that of ripe ones is creamy yellow, crumbly, sugary, and melts in your mouth. But to get a good harvest, you need to try. Firstly, the variety is very susceptible to scab, so spraying with vitriol is vital. Secondly, the soil must be moist all the time. If it dries up at the roots, it’s a lost cause; both the fruits and leaves will fall off. Thirdly, I am afraid of the cold, for the winter I cover the trunk almost to the top of the crown, naturally wrapping it up...

Grushovka Moscow is famous for its frost resistance. This is probably why it is so often found in our gardens in the Moscow region. It can withstand even severe frosts in winter with dignity. The variety is called this way not because it has a pear taste, but because of its pear-shaped crown. The pulp is a little reminiscent of pear pulp, it is just as loose and yellowish in color.
When planting seedlings, I advise you to pay attention to the windiness of the area - it is important that it is not open and protected from the wind. This variety of apple tree, like many others, requires careful care: watering in the evening in the summer, not only in dry weather, pruning and crown formation, fertilizing and mandatory whitewashing. Having done these...

At the end of September you can harvest. The apples are large, all the same, oval or rather conical in shape. Sunny yellow in color, and on the side where the sun shone more often - ruddy. Sweet with a pleasant sourness, juicy and incredibly aromatic.

I really like the beautiful flowering of the "Elena" variety. The entire apple tree is covered with pink flowers. Apples also have an attractive appearance and pleasant taste. The homeland of the apple tree is Canada, but in the Russian Federation the tree feels great. Due to the fact that the variety is genetically resistant to frost, it can be grown even in Siberia. The apples ripen towards the end of summer and do not tend to fall off. They fit well.
The tree does not grow too tall. The average height is 4 meters. Begins to bear fruit very early. Not many varieties can boast of bearing fruit 2-3 years after planting. Of course, in the first years there is not much fruit. Around the 5th, 6th year the harvest is quite...

Very tasty small red apples that taste vaguely like strawberries. And although they are not particularly aromatic, this is a small drawback, but the way they crunch while eating, how juicy and sweet they are - they are not inferior to the most famous varieties. The trees are very short - 2 meters, but they are always completely covered with beautiful pink fruits; from a distance it seems that there are no leaves on the tree. Strawberries grow as big as an apple

Author: photo: Miroslava Sokolova

Don't say the word strawberry, because they are completely different plants. Correctly, these are called garden strawberries, and those in the forest are wild strawberries, says 66-year-old Boris Maslenko from Kirovograd.

He has been collecting different varieties of strawberries for 30 years. It has French, American, English, Italian and even Japanese. Classifies ripening by periods: early, middle and late. Each group has several varieties that bear fruit best in Ukraine.

There are different exotics with pink flowers, as if curly, but people are primarily interested in the harvest and taste. These are the ones I breed. I was dealing with white berries. She grew up near Kiev at a woman’s dacha. I met her at an exhibition and came to buy seedlings from me. I wanted to know what the variety was called, but I couldn’t tell from the description. She called when the berries were ripe, I came to her from Kirovograd. I took it for a divorce, but then took it out. She gave birth to little and is not as tasty as mine.

He considers the French early variety Darlisette to be the most delicious of all the ones he has eaten. The taste and aroma are similar to strawberries. Her niece brought her from London.

She lives there, comes once a year and brings the varieties that I order. Sometimes it is sent by mail. Black Prince, Lord - these are purely English varieties. They are medium-sized and ripen in June-July. They are most popular because they are productive and not capricious, the berries are large. Only the Prince is darkish and sweet, and the Lord is lighter, with sourness.

He advises planting strawberries of all ripening periods in order to have berries from May until frost. The Ukrainian varieties Olvia and Rozana Kyiv are the first to bear fruit. The berries are harvested in mid-May.

For farmers who grow for sale, it is better to plant Italian Clary from the early ones. It is dense, does not flow and is very sweet. Or the American Gigdat Jorney. It is mid-early, but the berries are the largest of all the early ones. They are always smaller than the middle and late ones, because they ripen quickly and do not have time to fill up. And this Journey grows to the size chicken egg.

The largest strawberry was obtained from rocket designer Vladimir Nikipelov, who is also interested in this plant.

I came to Kirovograd to sell seedlings. I bought it from him. One berry weighs 100 grams, I had both 120 and 140. The size of a small apple. This Japanese variety Chomora Turusi. Also popular with farmers. Large berries will also be born in July, when the price rises, because the main varieties are leaving. You can also plant the English variety Chelsea Pensioner. He is not much smaller, but will give birth profusely. Dense, also ripens in July.

The last berries are collected in October from American variety Albion. Such strawberries, even after frost, continue to bloom and set berries.

If the summer is hot, at 30 degrees, the plant struggles and produces three harvests in a year. And if it is planted up to 25 or in the shade, then there can be five.

Of the frost-resistant varieties, Queen Elizabeth, an English variety, has adapted well to the Ukrainian climate. The berries are medium in size, growing in clusters of 10-15 pieces per cluster. The first ripen in May, the last - before the snow.

100 kilograms of strawberries per hundred square meters is the average yield in Ukraine. In Poland, four times more thanks to fertilizers. The largest harvest - a ton - is obtained in the USA. Collect fertile soil and asphalt is laid in that place. On top of it - clay and the removed soil half with fertilizers. Strawberries are planted in it, which bear fruit from late spring until frost. Asphalt does not allow moisture to pass down. The berries grow abundantly and large all season long.

Five tips from Boris Maslenko on how to plant

1. Buy at least five to ten bushes of a new variety. If not everything is accepted or disappears, it will remain for reproduction.

2. Take seedlings where the root is visible. It should be wet, with soil. In the middle of the bush, young light green leaves are the core or growing point. It won't be accepted without her.

3. Small brown spots on the sheet are not scary. They are cut off as soon as the plant begins to grow.

4. Before planting, trim the root to a third of its length. It should not be wrapped up, and the core should be on top, not covered with earth.

5. Pour at least a liter into the hole warm water. Plant in a swamp, and after 2-3 hours sprinkle with dry soil. Water daily for the first week.

Why is a bright apple a chemical mutant and not a healthy fruit at all? Which vegetables and fruits are recommended to be avoided, and which ones are really healthy?

Are apples or exotic fruits better?

Regular consumption of vegetables and fruits is one of the main components of a healthy diet. But how can you figure out which of them are useful and which are harmful if more and more appear on supermarket shelves every year? exotic fruits that you've never heard of? Are they healthier than regular apples?

Prices are falling, sales seasons are changing - strawberries and cherries, previously available only at the beginning of summer, can now be bought at any time of the year thanks to deliveries from the other side of the world. However, you have to pay for everything. And the price for cheap fruits is the presence of a large amount of chemicals in them.

How can fruits be harmful?

Pesticides and other chemicals are used in growing vegetables and fruits to speed up the ripening cycle and to control disease, rot and insects. In addition, people want to buy large and shiny fruits - for which they are treated with special polymers.

One scientific study showed that a random apple from a supermarket contained 47 (!) different pesticides that could harm human health. About 15 of them can change the body's hormonal levels, 11 are known toxins, and 6 are potential carcinogens.

The most harmful fruits

Please note that this list is not an assessment of the composition of vitamins, minerals or nutrients contained in various fruits. This is an attempt to provide a general understanding of how farm-to-village produce differs from cheap industrial fruit sold in supermarkets.
  1. Apples. For several years in a row, the American organization Environmental Working Group, which monitors the content of pesticides in vegetables and fruits, has recognized apples as the most harmful. On a 100-point scale of chemical content, they consistently receive the highest rating. The reason is simple - manufacturers reduce costs as much as possible.
  2. Strawberry. Strawberries grown in greenhouses grow on soil saturated with growth-accelerating additives - nitrates and ammonia. It is regularly treated with pesticides - solutions that kill insects, and before sale it is kept in gas chambers to combat the formation of mold and rapid rotting.
  3. Grape. The sweet taste of this fruit is liked not only by people, but also by insects, and grape sugar is favorable for the development of bacteria. To successfully grow grapes and deliver them to the supermarket, they are regularly treated with chemical solutions. Everything is aggravated by the fact that grapes cannot be eaten without peeling.
  4. Cherries. The situation with cherries is similar to the situation with grapes - a large amount of sugar attracts pests and bacteria that need to be fought. In addition, people prefer large and ripe fruits, for which the soil under the plant is abundantly enriched with chemical fertilizers.
  5. Peaches and nectarines. The trees on which these fruits grow must be ideal - bear fruit for as long as possible, never get sick, be strong and withstand the weight of a large number of fruits. To create such superheroes, they are crossed and modified - but do they not grow into mutants as a result?

The healthiest fruits

The first rule of a healthy fruit is to have a peel that will be peeled before eating. The content of chemicals in the pulp itself is usually significantly lower. Moreover, the denser the fruit’s peel, the stronger it protects against the penetration of pesticides.
  1. Avocado. The fruits of this plant contain not only healthy vegetable fat and the trace element potassium, which helps maintain the skin and blood vessels in good condition, but also strong natural antioxidants and vitamin E - important elements in the fight against aging. A plus is the extremely hard peel of the avocado.
  2. Bananas. Despite the fact that the banana industry is very harmful environment(primarily due to refrigerators for sea transportation), the bananas themselves contain a minimal amount of pesticides in the pulp. The benefits of bananas include a high content of manganese, potassium and vitamin C and vitamin B6.
  3. Mango. Growing mangoes does not require the use of harsh chemicals, and key exporters of this fruit are India, Thailand, Mexico and Brazil - countries with naturally warm climates. Mango pulp contains more than 20 different vitamins and minerals, making this fruit truly healthy.
  4. Oranges and tangerines. Citrus fruits consumed during their growing season (late autumn and early winter) are doubly useful - the high content of solar vitamin C in these fruits is especially important for the body in dark and cold period. However, let us remind you that packaged orange juice is a harmful product.
  5. Kiwi. Despite the fact that this fruit leads among other fruits in vitamin C content and contains about 20 important trace elements and minerals, the composition of kiwi is not fundamentally different from the more familiar tangerines or even mangoes. This is one of those examples where products are interchangeable.

Are organic fruits different from regular ones?

On the left is a symbol for certification of bio-products grown in the EU; on the right is the regional certification symbol (Andalusia, Spain)

The European symbol of bio-products is not just a symbol that any manufacturer can put on their products. This is a system of strict standards that must be observed when growing plants. The goal is to allow only methods that are safe for human health.

The difference in price between conventional and organic fruits, ranging from 2 to 5 times, is an indicator of how much producers can save. If real organic apples and strawberries seem expensive to you, it is better to buy bananas and mangoes, but do not poison yourself with cheap chemical imitations.

When buying fruits in a regular supermarket, you should give preference to those that can be peeled - oranges, mangoes, bananas, and so on. Cheap strawberries, grapes and cherries, especially poorly washed ones, contain dozens of different pesticides that you eat.
