It seems to me that in many village yards you can find an old wheel from a cart to which horses were harnessed. This, in terms of homemade products, is quite an interesting material that can be easily used in the interior garden plot. Or you can, as in the example of the author, use it to make a chandelier in a rustic style.
To work you need:
the wheel itself, varnish or impregnation, blocks for connecting wires, sockets, lamps, cable, screwdriver and drills different types, pliers, wire cutters and screwdriver.
Take the cart wheel. Even if it is not very well preserved, it will give the finished product a certain charm. We clean it of any debris, sand it with sandpaper and cover it with wood impregnation and then varnish.
Small holes are drilled out through holes, into which hooks will be inserted, by which the chandelier will be suspended from the ceiling. You can buy them ready-made or make them yourself from wire; there’s nothing complicated about it. The hooks are located along the rim of the wheel, every 120 degrees.
All metal parts are painted with any paint suitable for color scheme to the interior of the room in which the chandelier will be located. The chain on which the product will hang is also painted. You can simply dip it in a can of paint and hang it over it to let the excess drip off.
Now the cartridges are mounted. The author decided to hang five of them on the wheel. A large lamp will be placed on the central axis. The remaining four holes need to be drilled. Take a feather drill and drill holes in the wheel rim. They house light bulb sockets. The holes must be through, since the wires from the cartridges will be located on the top of the wheel rim. The lamps will be located at the bottom. The author made the holes for the cartridge end-to-end, so there is no need to secure them with anything, although you can secure them to be on the safe side.
For the convenience of connecting all wires to each other, the author in side part I screwed the bushings into the soldering blocks, through which the connection will be made. We leave a small piece of wire to connect the chandelier to the network.

Local residents brought him well-preserved old cart wheels, the rim of which was made up of two bent halves rather than separate segments. The decision came immediately: it would be a chandelier - a DIY wheel in the gazebo.
Treatment
Iron brush on a drill ottt carefully cleaned the surface of the wheel from road dirt and old loose wood. Then he mixed linseed oil with turpentine and soaked the wood in several layers with this mixture. The rim was treated with a rust solvent with an anti-corrosion effect.
Sources of light
Based on the number of knitting needles (12), the forum member calculated the number of lamps - 6 pieces (12 would be too much). Six E14 minion cartridges were purchased - they looked more sophisticated than the full-size E27. Light bulbs were also purchased that imitate the fire of a candle.
The next step was to decide how to secure the lamps. There was an M10 threaded hole at the end of the cartridge. The wires should also come out through it. The forum member came up with the following idea: he drilled blind holes in the wheel (15-20 mm) for the wires to exit (perpendicular, 10 mm in diameter, and at an angle of 45 degrees, 6 mm in diameter) - see photo.
I screwed “adapters” made from nylon dowels with a diameter of 10 mm into the cartridges. Then the cartridge was screwed onto the dowel along its thread, squeezing out counter grooves. Happened threaded connection. Thanks to “stabilizers”, like those of a rocket, the cartridge reliably occupied the hole prepared for it in the rim.
In order for the “stabilizers” to press tightly against the body of the dowel, they must be rotated in one direction.
Wires ottt pulled it into an inclined “outlet” channel and connected the cartridges in parallel. The lower part of the dowels fit tightly into the wheel rim; there was no need to glue it.
Chandelier decoration
From the purchased galvanized chain 5 mm thick with a short link, the owner decided to make a black one - antique. I lit the stove and baked the chain, as I did with the forged elements prepared the day before.
It's time for the rings. They are necessary to attach the chain to the forged elements. All connections ottt performed with conventional tools, without welding machine. I made the rings from steel (preferably rusty) wire, for which I used a rod with a diameter of 4-6 mm. I unwound it from the fence post, straightened it, then loosely wound it around a round frame with a diameter of 12-15 mm (a piece of a ski pole). Then I cut rings from the wire using a grinder; you can see them in the photo below.
The disk should not be driven perpendicularly, but slightly at an angle to the rod.
Meanwhile, the chain slowly cooled in the coals. For complete cooling ottt I took it out onto a non-flammable surface, waited until it was warm, and treated it with rust preventative. The forum member attached the forged elements to the wheel using a drill, a 3.5 mm drill, 3.5 x 32 self-tapping screws and a screwdriver. The screws were then painted over with matte black varnish.
I measured out the required lengths of chain and cut the last link with a grinder with a thin cutting disc. After heat treatment, the chain became pliable, like plasticine. Screwdriver ottt I easily spread the ends apart and removed the desired section, after which I flattened the links again.
I brought the outer links into prepared rings and connected them to forged elements. This required effort, since the rings were not subjected to fire treatment and were springy. The unsightly joints were hidden inside the curls of the wheel chain.
Finally, the finished chandelier had to take its place. Suspension with an 8 mm thick cable stretched inside with a loop at the end ottt led it into the hole in the pipe and “pierced” it with a pin. The connection was disguised with twine. The chandelier can be easily removed, but installation requires an assistant.
