Lumiya 625. Additional cameras are usually mounted above the device screen and are used mainly for video conversations, gesture recognition, etc.

Nokia Lumia 625 This is a real breakthrough in the budget phone market. Despite its low cost, it has a large 4.7-inch screen and supports 4G technology. As a result of this, it is best suited for web surfing and social networking.

Nokia Lumia 625 review

Design

In my own way appearance Lumia 625 resembles an enlarged Lumia 620. It would be hard to call this phone compact. With a case thickness of 9.2 mm, it measures 133 x 72.2 mm and weighs 160 g. Fortunately, due to the fact that the device has a curved shape, it is much easier to hold in your hand than it might seem at first glance.

The Lumia 625 boasts excellent build quality, the plastic is quite thick, so there shouldn’t be any squeaks, even after using the device for a long time . Body colors: red, yellow, green, black and white.

Display

Despite the large screen size, its resolution is the same as the Lumia 620, 480 x 800 pixels. Frankly speaking, this is very little. For example, HTC One, which has the same screen, uses more than 2 million pixels to display information. In Lumia 625, there are less than 400 thousand of them. Because of this, the image on the screen does not look as clear as that of models and.

In terms of color rendering and contrast, the smartphone screen also did not perform well, the colors are not bright enough, and the shades are inexpressive. In addition, when viewed from certain angles, the screen becomes grayish and the image on it is quite difficult to see. The only advantage of the Lumia 625 screen is its good anti-reflective coating, which allows you to comfortably use the phone in bright light.

Iron

The smartphone is equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8930 processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz. The exact same processor is used in the more expensive Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

Nokia Lumia 625 has only 512 MB random access memory, but you are unlikely to notice this drawback if you are not going to use your smartphone as a game console.

8 GB of internal memory is allocated for data storage, which can be increased using microSD cards up to 64 GB, the slot for which is located under the back cover of the device. In addition, do not forget about Sky Drive cloud storage.

The battery has a capacity of 2000 mAh, the charge of which is enough for a couple of days of using the smartphone, if you are not particularly into games and 4G Internet. Follow these tips to save battery power.

Software, apps and games

The device is running Windows Phone 8.

The smartphone comes with a proprietary set of applications from Nokia, including Nokia HERE and Music. In addition, it has the Nokia Xpress browser installed, which allows you to load Internet pages very quickly, even with poor connection quality. Also, it is worth noting the integration of Windows Background 8 with various social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

If one of the main criteria when choosing a smartphone is the availability of a variety of 3D games, then the Lumia 625 is unlikely to suit you. In addition to the fact that this smartphone has rather weak (for these purposes) technical characteristics, the WP8 is still not that good compared to Android and iOS. The same goes for applications. Despite the fairly large assortment on the Marketplace, finding the right program or its equivalent is not so easy, and sometimes even impossible.

Camera

The Lumia 625 has a very mediocre, unremarkable 5-megapixel camera. Thanks to very fast focusing and the presence of an LED flash, you can take good pictures with it, which, of course, do not reach the level of photographs obtained with the Lumiya 925, but given the difference in price between smartphones, this is quite logical.

The 625 model has a front camera, but the quality of the image obtained with its help is at the level of five years ago.

Video review, and also tips for getting started with Lumia 625:

Is Nokia Lumia 625 worth buying?

The answer to this question can be obtained based on the main features of this smartphone. At the moment, this is the cheapest phone that allows you to work with 4G networks, so if you need high-speed Internet access from your smartphone screen, then this is your choice. At the same time, do not forget about the availability of 4G networks in Russia and the CIS countries, so before you buy Lumia 625, find out about their availability in your city.

The Lumia 625's large screen is more likely a disadvantage than an advantage; the reason for this is the low resolution, the consequences of which are especially pronounced when watching videos. In this regard, if you don’t need 4G Internet, then it’s better to buy Lumiya 620, the price of which is about the same.

If you were looking for an inexpensive smartphone with a large screen, take a closer look at the Nokia Lumia 625; it fits these requirements perfectly. It has a 4.7-inch IPS display, high-quality assembly, good performance and, importantly, affordable price. And if you consider that the smartphone runs on the Windows Phone 8 operating system, it will become even more interesting, because it will have to compete with big amount smartphones on Android. But we’ll tell you how well this will work out in the review.

Equipment

The smartphone package includes paper documentation, a headset, a charger and a USB cable. It is worth noting that the charger does not have a removable cable. Yes, and the connection to the PC is carried out using a short USB cable, made in the spirit of past Nokia phones, which will be bad when connecting the smartphone to a desktop, but quite convenient when connecting to a laptop.

Design and ergonomics

The appearance of Lumia smartphones is easily recognizable, especially from the back. Nokia Lumia 625 is the same classic candy bar, the screen of which is covered protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass with rounded edges. The dimensions are average and are 133.2x72.2x9.2 mm, while the smartphone weighs 159 grams, which is far from small.

At the top edge of the front side of the smartphone there is a narrow slot for the earpiece, below it is the manufacturer’s logo, and a little to the right of it is the front camera, proximity and light sensors. The left side edge is empty. On the right side there are volume keys, power keys and camera launch keys. There is a headphone jack on top and Micro-USB on the bottom. On the back of the smartphone there is a miniature backlit main camera lens, the manufacturer’s logo and a multimedia speaker. The removable cover of the test device is made of matte black plastic, which, if desired, can be changed to another, because among the branded accessories you can find multi-colored covers. True, removing the cover is not so easy, because the manufacturer has not provided any special recess for this, so you have to pull the recess of the Micro-USB connector. Under the panel there is a dual slot for a Micro-SIM card and a MicroSD card.

Even though the smartphone has a removable back cover, the assembly is on high level, nothing creaks or plays. Mechanical keys are pressed clearly and without false positives. Of course, matte plastic is good, but due to the fact that it does not have soft-touch, the device is a little slippery and very easy to drop. But the lack of oleophobic coating is somewhat disappointing.

operating system

Nokia Lumia 625 runs on the Windows Phone 8 operating system. The interface is made in the form of tiles different sizes and flowers. The lock screen is capable of displaying information about the current time, day of the week and date, as well as the presence of missed events such as messages, calls, letters and notifications from social networks, and any of them can be in expanded form, and not just as the corresponding icons.

To change the lock screen background, you can select a picture from the gallery, the Bing search engine, or from Facebook. Also, while listening to music, you can display information about the current track.

The main desktop screen consists of tiles, some of which can be “live”. This particular feature is very interesting because, for example, the “Contacts” tile displays photos of your contacts, and the “Messages” tile displays the number of missed messages. This is how it looks like the tiles are “live”. Let's not forget that tiles can be of three sizes: full screen width, half and quarter.

If you slide the screen to the left, you get to the list of all applications available on your smartphone. But if a large number of applications are installed on the device, then the letters of the alphabet corresponding to the name of the application will also appear in the list. This is how Windows Phone 8 solves the scrolling problem long lists. Absolutely any application can be added to the main screen as a tile. To do this, you need to touch the application icon and hold it for a few seconds, after which a pop-up menu will appear with four items: to the desktop (what we were actually talking about), ratings and reviews, send (sending the application URL via message, letter or sharing on a social network) and delete.

Among the standard applications, it is worth noting HERE - navigation (maps, car navigation, navigation using public transport), Office, “Live Photos”, “Smart Photo”. The Office application can create and edit Word and Excel files. Overall, the application is good and even supports entering formulas into Excel.

Nokia smartphones have always been famous for their navigation capabilities, the advantages of which were free and offline work, and this was facilitated by maps that could be downloaded in advance for the selected region. Here, HERE navigation gets all the listed advantages. To say that the navigation works great is an understatement. Car navigation includes warnings about road speed limits and the location of gas stations, ATMs, hospitals and much more. In general, the cards are very good.

Hardware platform

The Nokia Lumia 625 smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8930 chipset - two Krait processor cores clocked at 1.2 GHz, Adreno 305 accelerator, and 512 MB of RAM. The amount of internal memory is 8 GB, but it can be easily increased using MicroSD memory cards.

Despite not the most productive processor, the smartphone works quickly and smoothly - Windows Phone, what can I say. The truth is that not everything is so rosy, especially considering that not all video files will be played on a smartphone and this must be remembered. Solving the problem of video playback using a third-party video player downloaded from Market Place will also not work; there are simply no such applications there. The only solution is to convert video for a smartphone, but it is worth remembering that this procedure takes a lot of time. But there are no problems with copying music and text files, since the smartphone is defined as a storage device.

Wi-Fi operation raised absolutely no issues. Wi-Fi transmission speed is close to maximum. And the speed of searching for GPS satellites deserves high praise. The smartphone finds satellites in a matter of seconds when the Internet is turned on.

In terms of autonomy, the Nokia Lumia 625 does not show outstanding results. During normal use, a smartphone can easily last one day, but if you limit yourself a little, then a result in two days is possible. In general, nothing outstanding, but also no cause for concern.

When listening to music, automatic data synchronization and data transfer worked. The sound volume in the headphones is at 12 out of 15 possible levels. All music files are in MP3 format, bitrate 320 Kbps. Navigation includes getting directions in the Google Navigation app. The brightness is set to 50%, all data communication modules are disabled. When playing a video, data transfer on the mobile network is active, the display brightness is set to 50%, the sound volume in the headphones is at level 12 out of a possible 15. The display brightness is set to 50%, the headphone volume is set to 12 out of 15 possible levels.

Display

The smartphone has a 4.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, a density of 201 ppi and an automatic brightness sensor. In addition, you can adjust the color profile of the display, namely color temperature and saturation. You can also select high sensitivity in the sensor settings, which allows you to use your smartphone without taking off your gloves. And indeed, the display sensor responds perfectly to pressing while wearing gloves, and this is a great help in the cold season. The maximum brightness of the display is 323 cd/m² and is sufficient for comfortable work in any conditions. The average brightness is 171 cd/m², 75 cd/m² is the minimum brightness and it is very high, but this is if you turn off the automatic brightness sensor. True, if you turn on automatic brightness and go into a dark room, then subjectively the brightness is much less than what is set by the “low” item. The contrast is 673:1.

But thanks to the display settings, the user can significantly change the color temperature and color saturation. But still, the screen settings cannot work miracles, because the black color at any setting is not completely black, but rather dark gray, and this is clearly visible if you select a dark background.

Camera

The smartphone is equipped with a 5 MP main camera and a 0.3 MP front camera. Video recording is possible in HD and FullHD resolution. The camera has required amount settings. Among them are the choice of shooting mode, ISO value, exposure value, white balance, and image format. It’s very good that there is a mechanical camera key with half-press for pre-focusing. The key greatly simplifies working with the camera, but if necessary, you can take a photo by tapping on the screen.

If we talk about photo quality, it is average. True, if the weather is sunny, you can get quite good pictures, but in poor lighting conditions, the quality of the pictures drops noticeably and this is not surprising, because a smartphone does not cost much. The front camera is only suitable for Skype and is capable of recording video in VGA resolution. There’s no point in talking about the quality of the video recorded on the front camera; it’s average, and thank goodness for that.

An example of Full HD video shot with a Nokia Lumia 625 smartphone

The standard photo editor “Nokia Photo Studio” was a pleasant surprise. This editor has many settings, among which you can choose one of nine filters. After that, you can go to the manual settings, and they are already divided into four points: blur, create, adjust and fix. Let's look at each in a nutshell. For example, in the Blur item you can select both “focus” on the object and “radial shift + distortion”. The Create item is represented by the “color mask” settings, in which you can play with the display of colors or remove the selected colors altogether. This item also includes “collage”. But the “configure” item is really for those who want to configure as much as possible manually, and here it is. “Color balance”, “brightness”, “clarity” and “saturation” can be adjusted using the slider over a wide range. The fourth item “Fix” contains the “crop + rotate” and “red eye” settings. All these features are enough for most users, especially since the editor’s performance is very good.

Results

Nokia Lumia 625 is an affordable Windows Phone smartphone with a 4.7-inch screen. The quality of materials and assembly of the device deserves high praise. However, like HERE navigation, which does its job perfectly. Another important point is the performance of the device, and it is excellent here.

I didn’t like the screen, namely the transmission of black color, and the resolution could still be higher. The absence of an oleophobic coating makes the dirty screen difficult to wipe. Another important drawback is that the smartphone does not play most popular video formats, but this is not a drawback of a specific device, but of the entire Windows Phone 8 operating system.

If we compare the Nokia Lumia 625 with available smartphones on the Android operating system, then some will have both advantages and disadvantages. But still, the main advantage of the test device will be its speed and quality materials housings.

Video review and unboxing

Video review will be tomorrow

Design, construction and equipment

Nokia Lumia 625 comes in a box that has not changed its design for several years. The package contents are as follows: a short microUSB cable, a simple headset, documentation and a charger (750 mA). The battery in the phone is non-removable, although the cover is removable, and has a capacity of 2000 mAh.

The model is offered in five color solutions, including white, red, black, green and yellow. The lids of all modifications are translucent and look unusual. The company itself calls the back part not a “cover”, but a “shell”, which has some truth, since this part seems to envelop the body and contain the keys. In addition, these panels are sold separately for 980 rubles (Lumia 625 CC-3071), so if you wish, you can change the look of the device to suit your mood and even prefer additional covers to protective cases and bumpers, which also cost money and also become unusable over time (scratches, abrasions and other signs of use). The back part can be removed quite easily - you need to pick up the plastic near the microUSB socket with your finger and press down, then remove the main part. As you can see in the photo, removing the battery without tools will be problematic, and the compartments for micro-SIM and microSD are located on the side.

Let's take a look at the device with different sides. On the front part you can see a slot for the earpiece, light and distance sensors, a 0.3-megapixel camera, three touch buttons are located under the display, and if you look closely, you can see a small microphone hole at the junction of the glass and the base. There is nothing on the left side, microUSB on the bottom, volume rocker, power button and camera button on the right, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top. On the back side there is a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and a loudspeaker (not very loud and also squeaky).

All photos show the same table design (dark background, steel color of elements)

The 4.7” screen, according to the company, is almost the main advantage of the Lumia 625. In my opinion, the advantage of the screen itself is only its size compared to other Lumia. The resolution by modern standards (and for a price of 12 thousand rubles) is low (800 x 480 pixels), pixels are visible to the naked eye (density is 201 ppi), the rounded Gorilla Glass 2 has proven itself to be reliable, but it does not have an oleophobic coating, so fingerprints stick to it like Velcro and are difficult to wipe off. Viewing angles are high, but there is color inversion characteristic of cheap IPS matrices (everything is blue from one angle, yellow from another), White color good, but instead of black it turns out dark gray. I also cannot help but notice the glare from the screen backlight at the bottom against a dark background. Working with gloves is supported.

The device weighs a lot - 159 g, and its dimensions are 133.25 x 72.25 x 9.15 mm. In terms of dimensions, it is comparable to the Lumia 920, which has a 4.5" screen, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S4, which has a 5" display. If it weren’t for the removable panel, it would be quite a compact device, but with the lid, the frames and indents (from the end of the screen to the edge of the case) are very large. However, thanks to good ergonomics, the Lumia 625 fits nicely in the hand and does not feel heavy or gigantic. The material from which the shell is made can also be praised. It is difficult to scratch, it does not slip, there are practically no fingerprints on it, and it just looks cool. But without criticism, a stone can be thrown at the engineers and designers who did not foresee that the cover covering the main part would move over time. I only took it off twice, and the play was about 0.3-0.7 mm (judging by the flash). Moreover, the design is such that you will feel the lid moving freely almost every time you pick up the device and swipe across the display. The lid also started to creak somewhere in the middle.

Software

The Lumia 625 came for testing with Lumia Amber firmware. I talked about the innovations that it brought to older models in the review of Lumia 925. Not all features were implemented in Lumia 625: there is a Lumia color profile, FM radio, turning off the sound by turning the screen down, but there is no screen with the Nokia Glance clock (“ Browser") and activating the screen by double tapping on the glass. In general, this is a typical Nokia phone running Windows Phone 8; there are no unique applications unique to the Lumia 625. Therefore, I suggest you read/watch a detailed review of WP8. Let me limit myself to screenshots to get a general idea of the interface and basic programs.

Camera

The Lumia 625 uses a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash. The Nokia section of the Marketplace is full of photo and video apps that mobile photography enthusiasts are sure to love, but the f/2.4 aperture sensor will still be the limiting factor for creative desires. Pictures in sufficient light come out decent, but in poor light noise appears and the picture becomes blurry. The “close-up” mode doesn’t really help when shooting macro - take a look at the photo of a 5-ruble coin (it’s not possible to take a closer shot). There is not enough detail, but it is impossible to jump above your head, that is, 5 megapixels. It seems that the company has squeezed the maximum out of the photo module used in the Lumia 625.

Video is recorded in 1080p resolution at 30 fps. The bitrate is high, the color rendition is pleasant. The sound, unfortunately, is mono.

Experience and impressions

Nokia Lumia 625 is built on a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8930 chipset, including an Adreno 305 graphics accelerator. The amount of RAM is 512 MB and it is clearly not enough for the device even with this resolution, since when loading games (level or what an event) lags often occur, when typing in the search bar of the store, the phone freezes, but the most important thing is that the catalog of games does not contain demanding toys that require 1 GB. That is, no NOVA 3, Real Racing 2 or Modern Combat 4 for you.

I note that Android does not have such a strict elimination - there a smartphone with a WVGA screen and an average hardware with 512 MB of RAM can quite easily load and play a 3D game, even if not with maximum graphics. Well, those games that can still be downloaded to this phone are going well. However, you won’t be able to install much - the internal memory in the Lumia 625 is 8 GB, and you can’t install programs on microSD on WP. For example, I downloaded Halo Spartan Assault, and could no longer download Six Guns. Or I deleted Halo, installed “Trunks”, CJ Strike Back, Zombie Derby, and Asphalt 7 showed nothing.

Benchmarks gave the following results. I think we will start practicing screenshots from tests for WP phones, since they have different hardware and different resolutions. Previously, everything was a carbon copy and it was somehow boring to demonstrate identical results (even between different manufacturers).

A 2000 mAh battery will allow you to avoid charging for a couple of days if you do not rely heavily on multimedia tasks and toys. In the test for continuous HD video playback with maximum brightness and all active wireless modules, the device lasted exactly 5 hours. I expected a little more from the WVGA resolution, but this result can be considered “normal”. Roughly speaking, count on 3-4 hours of active screen in mixed mode. Lumia 625 holds tightly to the Wi-Fi network and provides comfortable surfing over 4G LTE. The volume of the external speaker, as I said above, is not particularly high, but the vibration is strong.

conclusions

The main feature of the Nokia Lumia 625 was the display, but apart from the large diagonal for the Windows Phone segment, it has nothing to boast of. Those hoping to make the most of the big screen in web browsing will be disappointed by the low resolution, and those who dreamed of getting such a diagonal for toys will be surprised by the absence of 3D games in the app store due to 512 MB of RAM. Strengths Lumia 625 – design, high-quality 5-megapixel camera, LTE support. If you are satisfied with the screen in terms of resolution and quality, you are ready to put up with a constantly dirty display, or you are planning to put a film on it, and also cannot classify yourself as a gamer, then you should like the device (especially if you additionally purchase replaceable panels to suit your mood).

I also advise potential buyers who are partial to tiles to pay attention to the Lumia 720 (review), which in many respects is nicer and more interesting than the Lumia 625, or wait for the Lumia 1320 with a huge 6” screen and modern hardware to enter our market. Nokia Lumia 720 costs the same 12 thousand rubles, and Lumia 1320 is expected to cost 16-17 thousand rubles.

Average price: 7,300 rub.

Reviews

Advantages

Fits comfortably in the hand, scratch-resistant glass, durable (fallen several times, true to case)

Flaws

camera - the quality of the photos leaves much to be desired, especially in low light, some games crash, apparently the RAM can’t handle it, the more applications you install, the more it slows down. Sometimes there is interference when making calls. The battery runs out quickly - it doesn't last for a day.

I have been using the device for two years. Mostly the camera is frustrating and the games crash, I have to charge it at least once a day. It happened that three times it froze completely, even the shutdown button did not work. I had to do a full reset by pressing key combinations. In general, the phone is not bad, if it weren’t for Windows... I won’t buy any more Windows phones.

Advantages

Screen diagonal, automatic brightness, cool versions of Twitter and Vkontakte, functionality, and it’s just convenient.

Flaws

You won't be able to figure these accounts out right from the start. This is the first. After this, no shortcomings were identified. During the year of use, I sent it to service twice under warranty. Failures: charger connector, screen did not work. Now he is one year old. Now the camera practically does not turn on, applications do not download, CAM turns off, many photos are half distorted, sometimes the gallery does not load at all. This is my second lumia. There were problems with the first one too. Then there was Samsung. After Lumiya it is simply impossible to work on Android!! I got so used to it that I signed up for constant lags and hassle a second time.

Advantages

Speed, performance, video quality

Already using the phone more than a year. I'm glad that he hasn't let me down yet. Yes, like all devices, the battery is small (enough for a day), but otherwise the phone is superb. Sound bomb. This is the biggest plus. I give it a solid five

Advantages

battery, fits well in the hand, does not heat up, software, user-friendly interface

Flaws

No

I have been using it for more than 1.5 years, it is my love, my joy. Works well, durable, fell several times during use, one was unsuccessful, at an angle on the asphalt, but only a small piece broke off from the screen mm 5 =)
It helps a lot with my studies, I found good and convenient apps in the store. At first I often played games, the phone did not heat up, and even with such loads as games, the Internet and music, charging could last for 30 hours.
It's a shame it was discontinued(

Advantages

1. Speed
2. Doesn't heat up
3. Battery (sometimes it lasts for 2 days)

Flaws

512 MB RAM
Rear body

I bought this model about 2 years ago, it works quickly, there was an accident, the phone fell at an angle on the concrete, and as a result a piece of the case broke off. Not very suitable for games, mainly for work and the Internet. It catches the network with a bang, especially 4g, it heats up less. Basically the device is normal, but outdated.

Advantages

Navigation from Nokia with traffic jams without an Internet connection, in roaming this is good. I love this design, so for me this smartphone is simply beautiful and, unfortunately, this was the reason for buying it, well, the price was also attractive. Good glass, not a single scratch in a year, but the convex lens on the rear panel is a controversial decision.

Flaws

Windows OS, I will never buy WP again. Applications are glitchy, Viber works through what a person is sitting on and it’s not just me, many users write about this, WhatsApp works the same way as Viber. The application takes a long time to open and is tedious. Sometimes, when I want to use Shazam, I think that the song will end faster or Shazam will open. Watching some videos hangs the phone until it reboots. Bluetooth with speakerphone in the car is not friendly, or rather it is friendly, but clumsy - only for incoming calls.

A big screen doesn't have to break the bank. Nokia Lumia 625 is a fresh Finnish smartphone with a record display diagonal. While other manufacturers fill big guys with advanced hardware and set an immodest price, Nokia decided to make an affordable “phablet”. Inexpensive, but high quality.

Contents of delivery

Lumia 625 will arrive in the hands of buyers in a blue box, the same as other Nokia smartphones. Rough cardboard will please the “green” people with the opportunity to send it for recycling, but will not evoke emotions among buyers who are indifferent to the environment. The box is just a box, nothing interesting. Under the tail for pulling out the insides of the box, the cardboard is painted in the color of the device body.

The set of little things accompanying the smartphone is similar to the Lumia 520: a tray with a phone, some waste paper, a very cheap stereo headset, a charger and a Micro-USB cable for connecting to a computer. Once again, there is reason to be surprised: why do Nokia prefer to share the cable and charging for budget employees, rather than supply a collapsible plug with a lead, as in older devices?

Design and ergonomics

In Russia, Lumia 625 is sold in black, white and orange. I received the last one for review. Carrot, fiery red, pale red, international orange, if you like, but definitely not the color of a well-ripened orange. The red color scheme of the tiles suits him about the same as the orange one.

The size of the smartphone is significantly larger than the Lumia 620. At first glance, you can’t tell that the model numbers differ by only a five. Despite the huge diagonal by the standards of Windows Phone smartphones, it fits comfortably in the hand due to its small thickness, rounded edges and narrow frames around the display. The smartphone also scores positive points for the power button on the right side - you don’t have to dream about one of your fingers remembering the carrot you once ate and adding a couple of centimeters in length.

The case seems monolithic, it is so well assembled, but the absence of a SIM card tray treacherously reveals the presence of a replaceable panel, and as a consequence the need to remove it. A very non-trivial procedure, which I will not soon get used to, no matter how long it takes Nokia smartphones haven't tried it. Unlike the Lumia 620, in which to pick out the socket you need to pull the top part and rest against the camera module, the 625 model forces you to act without any stop, tearing off the socket from the bottom. Well, at least the Finns use durable plastic - not once did the process of removing the lid end with an illustration of the method of cell division from a school biology course.

When disassembled, the smartphone will show an unusual combined tray for a SIM card and memory card with hot-swappable capabilities and a suddenly non-removable battery. The battery is bolted down and will not allow you to replace it with a charged clone on the go.

The volume, screen off and camera buttons are located on the right side of the smartphone, the headphone and cable ports are located on the smaller sides. The left side is empty. If the Lumia 625 had a monolithic body, it could have card trays.

On the back there is a speaker hole, a barely visible Nokia logo and a camera with flash.

Screen

The record 4.7 inches for the Lumia line can only be captured with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, which in terms of density gives a modest 200 pixels per inch. Grain is noticeable, but the minimalistic operating system hides this imperfection well. Moreover, a high-quality IPS matrix with natural colors and wide viewing angles leaves a pleasant impression. Anticipating my acquaintance with the smartphone, I expected to see a poor screen, stylizing the picture as eight-bit graphics, but when compared with the densely packed pixels of the Lumia 620, the difference turned out to be not critical. A more significant drawback of the screen is the lack of a ClearBlack polarizing layer. In the rare autumn sunshine, the screen glows joyfully, as if reminding the owner to take a break and pay attention to the good weather. It’s good that they didn’t sacrifice the proprietary super-sensitive sensor. Girls will appreciate that the Lumia 625 perfectly understands pressing with fingernails, and the sexless joy of operating a smartphone with gloves and even mittens.

Sound

The musical capabilities of the Lumia 625 will not disappoint, except that you should throw away the included headphones and take out your favorite ones. The speaker volume also did not disappoint, provided that the owner of the smartphone does not play hard rock on the call and turn the volume up to maximum.

The only problem that is common to almost all smartphones from the Lumia line is that the small hole on the list is easy to cover with something, nullifying the efforts of the speaker. In such a situation, tangible vibration will come to the rescue.

Camera

The camera in Nokia Lumia 625 is budget, only 5 MP. Most likely, the module used is the same as in the Lumia 620, but due to a better processor and updated shooting algorithms, photos are a little higher quality, and videos can be recorded in Full HD format. However, the camera shows acceptable results only in good shooting conditions. The cloudier it is outside, the worse the footage. It's best to avoid taking photos with flash or artificial lighting.

Productivity and Communications

The Lumia 625 runs smoothly, without lag or lag, just like any other smartphone running Windows Phone 8. In terms of performance, it won't disappoint, but considering its budget, it only has 512 MB of RAM. This will not affect everyday use, but not all applications will be available to the buyer. About 1% of the software in the store is intended only for devices with a gigabyte of RAM.

For those who like to count cores and gigahertz, the new processor is worth noting. The Lumia 625 has a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8930 with a frequency of 1.2 GHz. Despite the budget Adreno 305 accelerator, the smartphone should be a little faster than the 520, 620 and 720 models with the MSM8227 chip.

Lumia 925. The main omissions are the absence of a clock on the off screen, the absence of a smartphone wake-up by double tapping the screen, and a black list for calls and SMS. Even the Lumia 620 got these features except double-tap to turn on the screen! The Amber Lumia 625 comes with adjustable screen color profile, a new Smart Camera photo app, FM radio and a traffic control app.

Otherwise, the Lumia 625 has everything they are famous for Finnish devices: a decent set of applications out of the box, a package for working with documents, spreadsheets and presentations, One Note and proprietary Nokia software, for example, the Mix Radio music service and one of the best navigation applications Here.

Price and competitors

The official price is 11,990 rubles. Nokia's competitors, as always, are its own smartphones, because the Finnish company owns more than 80% of the Windows Phone device market. For comparable money you can buy a more compact Lumia or with a better camera. A larger gap in price will result in the purchase of an ultra-budget or significantly more technologically advanced model.
