How to find out the constitution of wind mucus or bile. Tibetan medicine. Mucus, Bile, Wind. Combination of dosha types

The author of the book, Svetlana Galsanovna Choizhinimaeva, is the chief physician and founder of the first and largest Tibetan medicine clinic in Russia “Naran”, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Republic of Buryatia. For more than 25 years, Dr. Choizhinimaeva has been successfully reviving, introducing and applying the ancient science of healing in our country and abroad. An innovative approach to treatment, combining internal and external methods of influencing the body, has proven itself in practice. During this time, about 300 thousand Russians improved their health with the help of Tibetan medicine. Another book by a doctor of Tibetan medicine talks in popular language about the principles on which the science of healing in Tibet is built. Its cornerstone is the philosophical concept of three types of human constitution: wind, bile and mucus. Correct diagnosis of the disease according to this typology allows you to prescribe effective treatment, choose optimal nutrition and adjust the patient’s lifestyle. And ultimately cure the disease, harmonize the human body as a whole. Svetlana Choizhinimaeva’s book is relevant for the modern reader, as it broadens a person’s horizons in his eternal quest for self-knowledge.

Chapter 1. Fundamental regulatory systems of Tibetan medicine - wind, bile and mucus

I would call the “golden triangle” of health the balance of the three doshas (human regulatory systems). According to the medical science of Tibet, our body is a single system, the basis of which is based on three principles, or constitutions, - wind, bile And slime. The state of these three energies, harmonious or disturbed, determines the physical and mental (spiritual) health or ill health of a person.

All three constitutions are present in each of us, but, as a rule, one of them dominates and turns out to be more pronounced. It is by this that we determine the human type. Sometimes it happens that two constitutions are more active in a person, for example bile And slime simultaneously. This type is called accordingly - bile-mucus. It happens that all three constitutions find themselves in a harmonious equilibrium state.

Constitution test

So, depending on the predominance of one or another constitution, people differ in type: man-wind, man-bile and man-mucus. Each type is distinguished by characteristic physical characteristics and character traits. By knowing your constitution and following the recommendations of Tibetan medicine, you can prevent many diseases, maintain health and gain longevity.

The proposed test will help you determine the constitution that you have. To do this, you need to answer questions in three sections, scoring each answer with points:

– 0–2 – not applicable to me;

– 3–4 – partially applicable;

– 5–6 – fully applicable.

Then add up the scores for each section.

If in one of the sections the total number of points significantly exceeds the amount scored in other sections, this is your dominant constitution.

For example, wind – 20, bile – 30, slime – 140.

slime.

If you score close to each other in two of the three sections, then you have a mixed constitution.

For example, wind – 20, bile – 120, slime – 90.

In this case, your constitution is bile-mucus with predominance bile.

Regulatory system (constitution) wind

Before proceeding to a detailed examination of the constitution wind, I will briefly describe all three human doshas.

So the constitution wind is responsible for nervous regulation body. All human emotions are inextricably linked with the nervous system, without analysis of which there can be no talk of understanding this constitution. The basis of "outrage" wind– passion, affection. Constitution bile regulates digestion and is anatomically related to the liver, gall bladder, gastrointestinal tract, and pancreas. The basis of "outrage" bile– anger and other negative emotions. Constitution slime responsible for metabolism and hormonal regulation. Anatomically it is connected with the lymphatic and endocrine systems, organs that have a mucous membrane (starting from the mucous membrane of the eyes - conjunctiva, mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, pharynx, trachea, bronchi, the entire gastrointestinal tract). The basis of "outrage" mucus– ignorance, lack of knowledge. When the three regulatory systems of the body - bile, mucus And wind- are in harmony, then provided that waste is removed normally (feces, urine, sweat), you are healthy.

No matter what part of the world a person lives in, no matter what climate he is in, he is responsible for his own health. Unfortunately, we tend to blame anyone for our illnesses - the doctor, the state, parents, relatives and friends, but not ourselves. Tibetan medicine believes that the doctor and the patient should join forces in the fight against the disease. Only joint work and a mutual desire to overcome the disease will yield results.

According to the concepts of European medicine, which are based on the classification of temperaments according to Hippocrates, the wind man is sanguine. From the point of view of modern medicine, the constitution wind- nothing more than the central and peripheral nervous system. The one in whom predominates wind, is an active, joyful person with pronounced facial expressions and gestures, a very impressionable and passionate person. He sleeps lightly, easily loses energy and weight, but restores them just as quickly; does not have high endurance, but has a good reaction, takes life lightly, and soon forgets insults. The wind man's skin and hair are dry, his complexion is dull, and his digestion is weak. He often suffers from neuralgia, pain in bones and joints, and has a tendency to cramps and constipation. His urine is clear and almost odorless. The tongue is dry and red, and there is an astringent taste in the mouth.

The energy of any food (fatty, sweet, starchy, etc.) is quickly transferred by the “winds” into the energy of movements and words. That's why they are always thin. These are easy-going, life-loving people, gushing with different ideas, the life of the party. They are capable of a breakthrough, but then they quickly become tired. But the “winds” manage to restore their strength just as quickly. Of the literary heroes, Khlestakov and Don Quixote correspond to this type - joyful, active, prone to adventure, appearing here and there, “cracking” incessantly. The man-wind, in my opinion, was Lenin. (Looking ahead, I will say that Stalin belonged to the constitution bile, and Brezhnev was a representative of the constitution slime.)

The wind man manifests himself most clearly in adulthood and old age. Its peculiarity is affection in personal relationships and passion, which in youth provoke sexual excesses. Among such people there are many smokers and drinkers, as they love noisy companies. “Winds” are characterized by indecision and doubt; it is not easy for them to make decisions. They can disturb the peace and retreat back. Their mood changes like the direction of the wind - sometimes several times a day. They are often early risers. “Winds” are meteopaths, that is, they are very sensitive to weather changes. They are unsuitable for monotonous, tedious activities. More often they give preference creative work, requiring speed of thought and movement.

People of the Constitution wind have characteristic diseases. In adults, this is primarily heart disease, which occurs or worsens primarily in the summer. Summer is fire, the element of the heart is also fire. Disease fuels fire. In addition to heart ailments, such people suffer from diseases of the nervous system, starting with radiculitis and neuritis. First, lumbago appears in the lumbar region, which can spread to the joints and muscles. This happens against the background of emotional overload. Children of the Constitution wind usually thin, pale, mobile, characterized by restless sleep, increased excitability. They are emotional, tearful, prone to colds, bronchopulmonary diseases, convulsions, and abdominal pain.

Representatives of this constitution often suffer from mental and sleep disorders: they have insomnia, superficial, sensitive, anxious and even nightmares. There is a constant feeling of fear, confusion and anxiety in the soul, unsteadiness in sensations. “It’s as if nothing hurts, but the soul is not in the right place,” the “winds” often complain. This can manifest itself already at a young age - in students, young parents against the background of psycho-emotional overload. First, overexcitation, feverish activity, frantic activity arise (yang period). They are replaced by a complete loss of strength and depression (Yin period). At the same time, the muscles seem to tighten, they dry out, the body shrinks, stooping appears, and cramps are possible. In youth, getting out of such states is not particularly difficult for the “winds,” but with age it becomes more and more difficult to do this.

I want to emphasize that the basis of all diseases of the “winds” is the hyperactivity of the nervous system. Moreover, such a person can get sick with any diseases that are based on stress, fear, excessive positive or negative emotions. Risk factors also include hypothermia and colds. “Winds” do not like cold and winter. They prefer the southern sun and warm sea. Acute infections, exacerbations of gastritis, peptic ulcer, vascular dystonia, neuroses - that’s far from full list their diseases. The “wind” manages to adhere to the regime of work and rest, as well as nutrition, with great difficulty, or rather, fails at all. If there is no person next to him who can balance and curb his ebullient energy, sooner or later problems will begin related to the exhaustion of the nervous system. In old age, if there is a major emotional breakdown (death of a loved one, retirement, etc.), he may develop Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

People of this constitution cannot tolerate cold and wind and often catch colds. As a rule, they are lean, their weight is small, and hypothermia sets in quickly. In addition, due to increased emotionality and, accordingly, consumption of internal energy, their immunity is always weakened. Hence the simple conclusion: if you are “the wind”, dress warmly in cold and windy weather. Digestion in such people is weak, they are often tormented by bloating and belching, which, by the way, brings relief, giving an outlet to excess internal tension and air. They experience deafness: first there is tinnitus, then dizziness, and then hearing loss. Chronic nasal congestion and a “lump in the throat” are possible, which seems to interfere with swallowing and inhaling. Often, with such complaints, the doctor makes an erroneous diagnosis of “asthma” (cardiac or bronchial). I have encountered such patients many times in my practice.

To correct the constitution wind We can recommend the following sedative preparation: take 1 tbsp. a spoonful of crushed and dried raw materials - valerian (root), Echinops (root), mint (herb), motherwort (herb), marshweed (herb), hawthorn and rosehip (fruit), elecampane (rhizomes and roots).

2 tbsp. spoons of the mixture pour 1/2 liter of cold water, bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Cool, strain, divide into 3 parts and drink 30 minutes before meals 3 times a day for a month.

People of this type need to take special care of their nervous system. So it’s good to drink such a mixture twice a year for prevention. And be sure to monitor your work, sleep and rest schedule. “Winds” need to get plenty of sleep and stay warm. In terms of physical exercise, yoga classes in quiet, cozy, warm rooms or a room with soft, soothing music are good for them. From 30 minutes to 1 hour of exercise is enough for recovery. The “winds” are also recommended to use “warming” procedures: massage with shallow, gentle movements using hot sesame oil (can be replaced with camphor oil).

The oil is heated in a water bath or in special aroma lamps up to 40–45 degrees. Dipping your fingers into it, massage the point located on the top of the head - bai-hui. It is also called the point of a thousand meetings; through it a person receives cosmic energy. By massaging it for 1–2 minutes, we cleanse the central energy channel. The second point is located between the eyebrows at the site of the “third” eye. We do the same with her. At level seven cervical vertebra there is a point of one hundred meetings - then we massage it.

Massage of the neck and collar area is especially beneficial for the “winds”. The palms of both hands are dipped into the oil and these zones are kneaded in the direction from bottom to top and from the spinal column to the sides. And at the end, a back massage is performed along the lines of the kidney meridian, passing in two rows on each side of the spinal column in the direction from bottom to top with smooth, soothing movements.

To the people of the constitution wind going to the bathhouse is useful. They tolerate steam well. After warming up in the steam room, the “winds” can massage their hands and feet themselves. It is better to avoid various contrasting procedures - dousing with cold water, diving into a pool and an ice hole.

It is also good to do a facial massage in the morning using sesame or camphor oil (its temperature is 40–45 degrees). There are “yang” meridians on the face, which just need stimulation to correct the state of the “winds” and move energy throughout the body. The best points for massage are as follows: the beginning of eyebrow growth - two symmetrical points; “third eye” point – between the first two; two points in the areas of bald patches at the junction of the forehead and hairline; two points located under the cheekbones in the middle of the cheek; two points in the middle of the nasolabial folds.

Regulatory system (constitution) bile

From the perspective of Tibetan medicine, the regulatory system bile is responsible for energy and metabolic processes in the body; it is based on the elements of water and fire. In European terminology psychological type bile called choleric (from the Greek chole - bile). With such a constitution, as he believes modern medicine, the liver and gallbladder are connected. And from the Tibetan point of view, the concept of “bile” has a broader meaning - it is considered in the context of all functions of the hepatobiliary system. Modern doctors know more than 300 functions of the liver, but Tibetan doctors knew about this several centuries ago.

People of the Constitution bile have an unbalanced disposition. They are irritable, react violently to both positive and negative emotions of others, and are touchy. Their face and eyes are reddish, their body is hot, dense, stocky. They do not tolerate thirst and hunger, heat and stuffiness. Their sleep, like their mood, can be unstable. They like the coolness of autumn, and after trips to the south they return tired and irritable. These people sweat a lot and smell. Their urine is deep yellow and has a strong odor. The tongue is yellowish, the stool is bright brown. The mind is sharp, the pride is great. The character is strict and decisive. They have different talents, strong energy and good health by nature. In adulthood – from 30 to 50 years – they are capable of moving mountains. Energy is the main quality bile.

This is where the main danger lies. Convinced of their iron health, they can prematurely waste the supply of vitality that overwhelms them. As a result, such people often suffer from metabolic disorders and become prone to gallstones, diseases of cardio-vascular system(hypertension, coronary disease, heart attack and stroke), skin diseases (dermatitis, psoriasis, body acne). Every little thing begins to infuriate them - the sound of dripping water, the voice of a loved one, a creaking door, loud children's laughter.

In a balanced state, people like bile are able to concentrate, easily grasp ideas, quickly accept right decisions, very witty, prone to order and neatness. They can correctly distribute time, money, energy, and strength. But in a state of “outrage” bile they become intolerant, irritable, angry, which further destroys their once good health. The kidneys are called upon to curb the presumptuous horse - the heart. But their strength may not be enough, the rider - the liver - has spurred him too much. That is why irritation, causing the release of bile, provokes heart disease. This is an illustration of how our emotions and psyche are connected to activity internal organs.

At the same time, the liver releases into the blood not only bile, but also cholesterol complexes, which begin to be deposited in the internal organs and on the walls of blood vessels. They form stones in the gall bladder and deposits in joints and on vascular walls, and atherosclerosis develops in any vessels of the body - the lower extremities, heart, stomach and intestines, and brain. Arthrosis of small joints is likely, especially the hands may suffer. People like bile often suffer from eye diseases, since the eyes are associated with vascular system. Conjunctivitis, blepharitis, cataracts, myopia and farsightedness, color vision disturbances are their frequent companions (in the East they say: “The window of the liver is the eyes, and the nails are its mirror”). They may also have diabetes. Naturally, frequent ailments such as bile are cholecystitis and pancreatitis.

The liver is connected to the ligamentous apparatus (tendons, ligaments, fascia). Therefore, disturbances in its activity lead to tightening of the ligaments (for example, the fingers do not straighten - this often happens in men), yellowing of the nails and their delamination. In women there are disorders menstrual cycle, prolonged endometriosis is nothing more than a malfunction of the liver, a violation of the constitution bile. Because of "outrage" bile prothrombin and blood clotting increase. After all, the liver, accumulating blood in itself, makes it thick. This promotes the formation of blood clots in blood vessels and increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. It is not for nothing that in Tibetan medicine the liver is called the “queen of the body.”

Reasons for the “outrage” of the constitution bile– this is, first of all, poor nutrition, abuse of fried, fatty, spicy and sour foods. Ingestion of incompatible foods that are difficult to digest when cooked together. This is a combination of fish with meat, fish with milk, eggs with fish, tomatoes with cucumbers, buckwheat with meat, raw fruits with meat dishes. Such combinations require increased bile secretion. Drinking strong alcoholic drinks - vodka, cognac and others - also causes “outrage” of bile. This also applies to being in rooms with strong, strong odors of paint, gasoline, etc.

In addition, the liver is very vulnerable psychologically, because bile not only participates in digestion, but also controls the psyche. People like bile there is great pride. Wounded pride (and this is almost always about them) gives them no rest, their bile literally boils and splashes over the edge, taking with it internal energy. A constant source of irritation (at home or at work) causes the gallbladder to shrink, which poisons the liver, and it releases excess bile into the blood. And she already spreads it throughout the body, and primarily to the heart. Pressure surges begin, pulse quickens, sleep is disturbed. Dryness appears in the mouth with a bitter taste. Eyes turn yellow. The urine becomes hot, steam may come from it, and its odor intensifies. The skin also turns yellow, itches, and skin diseases develop.

All of the above refers to the state of “heat in the liver”; we call it the yang state (“disturbance” of the bile). Naturally, the liver cannot function as it should if it experiences heavy loads from fatty, fried, hot and spicy foods, alcohol consumption, manifestations of negative emotions - anger, resentment, jealousy, anger, irritability, and from the yang state it goes into yin phase.

For example, a person suffered acute viral hepatitis A of moderate severity, the liver during this period was in a state of yang activity. After an illness, this organ becomes depleted and enters a yin state, since liver cells (hepatocytes) after being damaged by viruses can no longer cope with their functions - producing bile. Therefore, people who have had hepatitis of various forms (A. B, C, etc.) are forced to follow a diet. If this is not observed, the death of hepatocytes occurs, which is fraught with the development of liver cirrhosis.

If a person is not treated, the liver eventually cannot perform its functions and “cold” settles in it. Urine and feces become whitish because there is not enough bile in the body. Weakness, anger toward others (including loved ones), and lethargy appear. The perception of color may change: white to yellow, yellow to green. Chills are common. The hair on the body is thinning. The body begins to dry out, and pigment spots and papillomas appear in place of acne. Subcutaneous and fatty tissue, muscles, bone marrow, nervous tissue, tendons, joints and genitals are also affected. Congestion occurs in the prostate and uterus. The presence of stones in the prostate is nothing more than a violation of the constitution bile. Possible impotence. In women, uterine fibroids occur with large amounts of blood.

In order to avoid "outrage" of the constitution bile and related health problems, a person must work on his psycho-emotional state, be able to relieve irritation. We must learn to listen to advice and accept criticism. There should always be a place in the daily schedule for rest and peace, and if a person is devout, for prayer. You need to wash your hair often, you can wipe your body with a cool towel every day. Cool baths with sea salt are very beneficial. Clothes should be made of cotton, silk, and avoid items made of synthetics and wool.

Regulatory system (constitution) mucus

Constitution slime belongs to the cold Yin type. It is based on the predominance of the role of the lymphatic and hormonal systems (the elements of water and earth) in the body. According to European standards, to people - mucus include phlegmatic people (from the Greek phlegm - lymph). Although representatives of the type slime They are found throughout the world, with the majority living in the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. There are quite a few of them in Russia.

People with nature mucus, have a large build, subtle bones and rounded joints, they are fleshy, their skin is whitish and cool. They have a soft, kind, calm character with laziness, both physical and mental, and a cheerful disposition. When angry they show restraint. Their sleep is long and deep. The tongue has a white coating, the urine is light and whitish; a lot of snot and mucus from the nose and saliva are released. They often experience heaviness in the body, especially in the lower back. Prone to swelling, primarily in the lower part (legs), numbness of the body, the appearance of a goiter (thickening of the neck), hiccups, stiffness of joints and vertebrae, memory impairment, drowsiness, heaviness in the head, dullness of taste - any food seems tasteless in the mouth - stale sour taste. When eating hot spicy food and exercising, mucus people may produce a lot of saliva and snot.

They usually live a long time, accumulating wealth. They tolerate cold well, although they do not like it, and are physically hardy. They think thoroughly and make decisions slowly. They love going to the sauna and bathhouse, and love to bask in the sun.

This type is characterized by a slow metabolism. In their youth, such people have a good appetite, but it usually wakes up around lunchtime, or even dinner. Eating plenty of food at night, the habit of lying in front of the TV on the sofa, and a dislike for physical exercise do their job, and by the middle of life, people of this type significantly gain weight. With age, appetite decreases, and food does not bring the same pleasure, but due to slow metabolism, body weight does not decrease. For the same reason, it is very difficult for them to lose weight.

In a state of balance in their constitution, as well as thanks to their cheerful, optimistic disposition and slow metabolism, people like slime live to a very old age. However, if the balance is disturbed, a period of yang excitation begins mucus, gradually turning into a yin state.

To the "outrage" of the constitution slime leads, first of all, to poor nutrition, in particular, excessive infatuation with fatty and sweet foods, especially the latter - usually in young years. From the point of view of Tibetan medicine, sweets include most basic food products that taste good: meat, fish and seafood, bread, pasta, cereal porridge (especially with milk), many fruits and vegetables, milk, sour cream, butter.

Other reasons are overeating, eating cool, oily, “heavy” foods: fatty, cold, poor-quality foods (cold meat, especially pork), frequent repeated meals after the first meal without a break, which should be at least 1 hour; sleeping during the day, lying on the couch after a “heavy” dinner instead of moving, swimming in cold water, being in a damp, cool room, consuming too much milk and other dairy products, drinking cold, especially carbonated, water and drinks.

When this constitution is “disturbed,” an accumulation of mucus, fat, fluid and lymph occurs in the body with the development of many diseases, such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, chronic runny nose, sinusitis, bronchitis and bronchial asthma, and various allergies. With age, the nature of the diseases worsens and their list expands significantly.

In people like slime Diseases of the joints, skin and various neoplasms may occur - lipomas, fibromas, fibroids, mastopathy. Exacerbations occur in spring (May) and autumn (September). The most favorable period for the slime man is mid-summer. In winter, people of this type also feel good and are in a balanced state. Exacerbations occur in the off-season, when the temperature regime changes: spring - early summer, late summer - early autumn.

The accumulation of mucus can worsen a person’s health if there is an excess of it in the body and it is in the yang-perturbation phase. At the same time, the back begins to ache, especially in the lumbar region, the joints hurt, the runny nose gets worse, a cough with phlegm appears (without fever), gastritis and others become worse. chronic diseases. In the body of such people, in addition to mucus and lymph, a large amount of water accumulates in the tissues and fat in the cells. Under the influence of gravity, water, mucus, and lymph flow into the lower parts of the body, and the so-called elephantiasis occurs - lymphostasis, when the legs swell and by the evening the shoes become tight. To maintain the constitution slime in a normal state, it is recommended to bask in the sun and by the fire, live in a dry, warm house, work in moderation, exercise, and not sleep during the day. Eat hot food, drink hot food, even take medications with hot boiled water. Since the nature of “mucus” is cold, it must be treated with heat and four “hot” methods (lifestyle, diet, herbal infusions, external procedures).

Since people have a constitution slime They have good endurance and are suitable for weight training and strength exercises. But you should not allow lactic acid to accumulate in the body, which contributes to mucus stagnation. Therefore, when exercising, you need to periodically give yourself rest. Cold procedures, winter swimming for people with a constitution slime And wind contraindicated. “Slime” loves a thorough massage with elements of manual therapy of the back and joints and deep heating with wormwood cigars. Thermal procedures on the same places, warming compresses with warm sand, salt, wool, and heated stones help well.

The wind, bile, and mucus systems represent nervous, humoral-endocrine and local tissue methods of regulating the state of the body.

The bile system and its disorders are the cause of hot diseases; disturbances in the mucus system lead to the development of cold diseases; The wind system is involved in the development of both hot and cold diseases. The division of people into constitutional types is in direct connection with the state of regulatory systems.

People are distinguished by the constitution of wind, bile, mucus; in addition, there is a fourth, mixed type. The combination of life principles is unique to each person and is determined at conception. Various influences of the external environment at the moment of conception leave their mark on the combination of life principles and are fixed for life. Depending on which life principle prevails in a person, his constitution is formed.

There are 3 types of people and many intermediate types: wind; mucus; bile; wind-bile; wind-slime; bile - balanced, the latter's life principles are equal.

Constitution of the wind

Due to processes in tissue cells that are specific to each type of cell, processes of functional activity with the production of specific secretions, and motor activity, these people are stooped, lean, pale, verbose, do not tolerate cold well, and a crackling sound is heard when moving. They are pale, short-lived, small in body, love songs, laughter, fighting, shooting, prefer sweet, sour, hot foods, and their habits are similar to vultures, hawks and foxes.

These people are physically weak, have a flat chest, veins are visible under the skin, they are dark-skinned, the skin is rough, cold, cracked, and there are dark-colored moles on the body. They are short in stature, thin in build, and have well-defined joints due to poor muscle development. The hair is sparse, curly, the eyelashes are thin, the eyes are expressionless, small, dry, the nails are rough and large. The tip of the nose is retracted. These individuals may have digestive problems; they love sweet, sour and salty foods, and alcohol. Their urine production is insufficient, their stool is small and dry. In summer there is a tendency to perspiration. Superficial sleep, cold hands and feet. These people speak quickly, but get tired easily, they have quick perception, but bad memory, mental imbalance. They engage in sports that require speed, alternating with rest.

Constitution of bile

With a bile constitution, people are susceptible to thirst and hunger, their hair and body are yellowish in color, their mind is sharp and vain. They sweat and smell, their wealth and body are mediocre. Prone to sweet, bitter, tart, cool. The gait is similar to that of tigers, monkeys and yaktas (demons).

Usually these are people of average height, slender, graceful build. Their chest is wider than that of the wind people. Their veins and tendons are less pronounced, there are many moles or freckles, bluish and brownish-red. The muscles are quite developed. Their complexion can be different: light, copper-colored, the skin is soft, warm, pleasant to the touch. The hair is silky, red and brown with a tendency to early gray hair and hair loss. Eyes gray, green, copper-brown. The conjunctivae of the eyes are reddish, the nails are soft. The shape of the nose is pointed, with a tendency to redness.

The metabolism is active, there is a good appetite, the digestive tract works satisfactorily. Persons of this constitution prefer sweets, cool bitters, and chilled drinks. They usually produce large amounts of urine and excrement that are yellow in color. Their body temperature is slightly elevated, their hands and feet are usually warm. They cannot stand sunlight, do not like heat, and shy away from hard work. Usually these are intelligent people, witty, eloquent, and vigorously express their feelings. They love to demonstrate their prosperity, engage in those sports where the beauty of the body is manifested, strong-willed qualities: bodybuilding, boxing, tennis, figure skating, chess.

Slime Constitution

Persons with this constitution are characterized by the following features: a cool body, joints and bones are not prominent, they are fleshy and white. The shapes are round. They endure hunger, thirst, and suffering easily, they sleep soundly, they are broad-minded, and naturally have a good disposition. Their habits are similar to lions and buffalos (“Jud-shi”).

The body of persons of this constitution is well developed. The chest is wide, veins and tendons are not visible, bones do not show through. They usually gain excess weight. The skin is soft, the hair is dark and soft. The eyes are blue or brown, the whites of the eyes are white and large. Many physiological processes proceed slowly. They love spicy, bitter, astringent foods. The stool is soft and pale in color. Long sleep. Usually these people have good self-control. They are reserved about many deprivations, they have an attachment to property, their thinking is slow, but they remember what happened for the rest of their lives. They take up very little sports.

Mixed types of constitutions

The bile and mucous types are tall, have excellent physique, and combine the properties of both types.

Bile and windy types. These are people of average height, content with little.

The flighty and slimy types represent strong personalities who react quickly to others.

The best type is considered to be a balanced type, in which the principles of wind, bile, and mucus are equal. They have a great sense of nature, space, and are harmonious in everything.

In people belonging to the mixed constitutional type, the processes of functional activity of cells for the accumulation of energy and plastic materials in the cell, growth and cell division are represented in the body in equal measure.

People of different constitutional types have characteristics in such a biological parameter as life expectancy. People of the wind constitution are a short-lived type of people, since the functional activity of cells and other organs is accompanied by rapid depletion, wear and death of individual tissues and the body as a whole. People with a mucus constitution have a high level of recovery processes, are distinguished by endurance, as well as a long life span, among them there are more centenarians. People with a bile constitution have an average life expectancy. According to Tibetan ideas, the life of a person as a biological and social object depends on the state of his internal biological mechanisms.

The dominant regulatory system determines the nature of the response to internal and external stimuli depending on the prevailing regulatory system. People of the wind constitution respond to the action of irritating factors by increasing functional activity. Due to increased stimulation of various functions, they become more active in behavior, lose sleep and appetite. People with a mucus constitution react by reducing various functions. Their appetite increases, drowsiness appears, performance and motor activity decrease.

People of the wind constitutional type are more prone to diseases that are based on a disorder of the wind system, people of the bile constitution are susceptible to diseases caused by malfunctions in the bile regulation system, people of the mucus constitution suffer from diseases associated with disturbances in the mucus system.

According to Tibetan medicine, the cause of all diseases lies in imbalances between the three regulatory systems of the body, designated as Bile, Mucus and Wind. They are called constitutions, or dosha“As long as there are no changes in the doshas, they do not manifest themselves as the causes of diseases, but as soon as the balance between them is disturbed, they become the essence of diseases.” “There are no diseases that are not caused by dosha” (“ZhudShi”, Tantra of Explanations).

This fundamental principle was the result of long-term observations, as a result of which it was discovered that not all people are the same and that there are certain groups of people with similar personality traits, eating habits, lifestyles, thoughts, behavior, physical and external characteristics. So, empirically, all people were divided into three groups.

In this, Tibetan medicine adopted the experience of the Ayurvedic school and its concept of the three doshas, or fundamental principles of life - Vata, Pitta and Kapha. On the other hand, it is easy to notice the analogy with the classification of Galen-Hippocrates, according to which people are divided according to their psychotype into four types: sanguine, phlegmatic, choleric and melancholic. Cholerics correspond to the Bile type, phlegmatic and melancholic people correspond to the Mucus type, and sanguine people correspond to the Wind type. However, Tibetan medicine went further than ancient medicine, combining psychotypes with physiology. For each group of people, she found out what kind of digestion they have, the color of their skin, urine, what their pulse is and what their blood is like, how these types are related to age, and what diseases are characteristic of each of them.

Thus, for easily excitable, active people of thin build (Wind), diseases associated with excitation or depression of the nervous system, a tendency to depression, and sleep disturbances were characteristic.

Irritable, hot-tempered and determined people with a hot and dense body (Bile) are characterized by cardiovascular diseases, diseases of the biliary tract and digestive system generally.

For slow, massive, patient and kind people with cool skin and swollen joints (Mucus) - metabolic disorders, joint diseases, allergies, asthma, tumors, diabetes, obesity, goiter, etc.

All this was of great importance for establishing the causes of diseases. Diagnostic science in Tibetan medicine developed cumulatively, empirically, based on practical experience. This process was lengthy, but at the same time as productive as possible. And today we can see that while in the West the number of chronically ill people does not decrease at all over the years, in Tibet, a country with a much lower level of well-being, life expectancy is very high. The same applies to China.

All the more unconvincing are the objections that the population of modern Western countries is mainly residents of large cities with their unfavorable environmental conditions, where life is full of problems and stress. But what about the megacities of China, which are not inferior in size, but on the contrary, are significantly larger than the megacities of the West? And yet, Eastern medicine allows their residents to stay healthy, resist stress and live longer, happier lives.

However, let us return to the three human constitutions. We will talk about them throughout the book, so we will dwell on them in more detail.

Constitution Bile supplies the body with energy, anatomically includes the liver and gall bladder. This constitution is responsible for vital warmth, ensures the digestion process, and gives a person determination, energy, and activity. “The feeling of hunger, thirst, nutrition, digestion, warmth, color, courage and mind depend on bile” (“ZhudShi”, Tantra of Explanations). The age of greatest activity of this constitution is 25–60 years, i.e., the period of greatest activity, efficiency and creative realization of a person.

Constitution Slime includes mucous organs and surfaces, endocrine and lymphatic systems. Mucus is responsible for metabolism, hormonal regulation, the body's growth process and its resistance to infections. It “gives strength to the body and soul, sends sleep, gives patience, makes the joints strong, and the body soft and fat” (“ZhudShi”, Tantra of Explanations). The constitution of Mucus corresponds to the process of growth and development of the body, which most actively occurs in childhood. Therefore, the age of the Mucus constitution is childhood.

Constitution Wind carries out nervous regulation of the body, includes the central and peripheral nervous systems. This is the main constitution that “rules the whole body” (“ZhudShi”, Tantra of Explanations). The wind determines the nature of all biochemical processes in the body, the rate of circulation of physiological fluids (blood, lymph, intercellular fluid), regulates muscle contractions, the functions of the sensory organs, mental activity, the movement of food through the gastrointestinal tract, the breathing process, the removal of sputum and waste (feces, urine), as well as semen and menstrual blood. The age of the Wind is old age. At this age, a person becomes the most vulnerable, emotionally unstable and susceptible to nervous disorders.

All three constitutions are present in every person, however one or two of them tend to dominate. This determines the constitutional type of a person, which determines his appearance, character traits, inclinations and preferences, physical characteristics, the nature of physiological processes in the body and, finally, predisposition to certain diseases.

So, people of Bile They are usually distinguished by a thick build, a reddish complexion and a decisive character. Since the constitution of Bile is of the nature of heat and yang (it is called “boiling”, “seething”, “militant”), the basis of the constitution of Bile is the element of fire. In Tibetan medicine, bile is the same as blood, since it is always contained in the blood, spreading through the vessels, penetrating into all areas of the body and determining a person’s temperament. People of this type practically do not get colds. They have hot hands and feet; the skin is warm and rough to the touch, prone to irritation, acne, and rashes; urine with a rich yellow color, strong odor and fumes. Blood is thick, hot, dark, and clots quickly, which poses a particular risk of developing cardiovascular diseases (heart attack, stroke). Zhelchi people are almost always hot, they sweat a lot, and have difficulty withstanding the heat; may wake up at night from thirst or a feeling of heat. They are often quick-tempered, easily get angry, and experience both positive and negative emotions. At the same time, they are enterprising, ambitious, have high intelligence and strong will, and love to lead in everything. According to Hippocrates' classification, these are cholerics (from the Greek chole - bile), hypersthenics.

In contrast to them Slime people have a large, loose body with rounded shapes. Their skin is pale and cool, their character is calm and balanced. Despite their heavy weight, they are always cold and do not tolerate the cold well. Why? Yes, because the basis of their constitution is the elements of earth and water, which have the nature of Yincold. These people are friendly and peaceful, trying to avoid conflicts. Their eyelids are often swollen, their joints are swollen and stiff, their urine is light-colored and has a faint odor. The blood is mucous, viscous, whitish. Slime people are patient, calm and unhurried, and have good endurance and physical strength. In their youth, they are often prone to overeating. Since the constitution is Mucus of a cold Yin nature, people of this type often feel cold and are susceptible to runny noses, bronchitis, colds, and allergies. They sleep long, deeply, have difficulty waking up in the morning, and stay in bed for a long time. Slime people are typical night owls. They prefer work that is slow, calm, even monotonous. According to Hippocrates' classification, the mucus constitution corresponds to phlegmatic people (Greek phlegma - mucus, phlegm) and melancholic people.

Wind People They are strikingly different from Slime people: they do not tolerate routine in anything - neither in work, nor in personal life, nor in communication. Their main characteristic is mobility. People of this type move rapidly, talk quickly and a lot, are in a hurry to be everywhere and do everything as quickly as possible, they are impatient, emotional, unpredictable and fickle both in character and in actions. Joy can quickly give way to sadness, gaiety to depression. As a rule, they are short and thin; their hands and feet are often cold, their hair is thin and brittle, their skin is dry and prone to peeling; urine is clear and almost odorless. The blood is thin, watery, light. Digestion is weak, bloating and rumbling in the abdomen, and constipation often occur. Until a very old age, people of the Winds retain their youthful weight, to the envy of the “Slime” and “Ball”, because the energy of their food is quickly spent on the energy of words and movements. They get tired faster than other people, but they restore strength just as quickly; all you have to do is rest a little: a 30-minute nap or a cup of hot tea quickly brings them into balance. Their sleep is light and restless, they usually get up early (“ larks") and immediately get involved in active life. But, of course, among them there are also “night owls” (mostly people of creative professions). Just like Mucus, the Wind constitution has the nature of cold - Yin, therefore people of this constitution are susceptible to colds and should not become hypothermic. More often than others, “Winds” are susceptible to anxiety, sleep disturbances, worries, and nervous diseases. Hippocrates calls such people sanguine (from the Latin sanquis - blood).

In addition to these three, there are also mixed types of constitutions: Bile Mucus, Bile Wind, Mucus Bile, Mucus Wind, Wind Bile, Wind Mucus and, finally, a balanced type - Bile Mucus Wind. These types are combinations of the three main ones.

Constitutional type inherited genetically but subject to change depending on age, lifestyle and diet, as well as due to diseases.

It is the lifestyle and nature of a person’s diet that primarily determine the state of the constitutions Bile, Mucus and Wind, harmonious or disturbed, and therefore the state of health. That is why a doctor of Tibetan medicine must first find out what his patient eats and what his lifestyle is. “By what the patient eats and how he lives, one can immediately guess this or that disease” (“ZhudShi”, Tantra of Explanations).

The parents of a 6-year-old boy who suffered from chronic rhinitis and grade 2 adenoids came to the Naran clinic. Alyosha slept poorly at night, breathed only through his mouth, and mucus constantly came out of his nose. The doctors, ENT specialists and pediatrician they had consulted before prescribed various drops for a runny nose, but the boy’s condition did not improve at all. Finally, the parents decided to seek help from Tibetan medicine. During the survey, it turned out that the boy (Music constitution, both by age and by congenital type) drinks large quantities of yoghurts, juices from the refrigerator, and Yin foods predominate in his diet: fruit curds, sweet milk porridges with butter, chicken meat, pasta, potatoes - everything is fresh, without seasoning and almost without salt. At the same time, Alyosha is very fond of candies, sweets and carbonated drinks. The examination showed that the child could not breathe through his nose, his breathing was hoarse, his skin was whitish, moist, his cervical and submandibular lymph nodes were enlarged. There was a disturbance in the Mucus dosha, which led to the accumulation of mucus in the nasal passages, which in Tibetan medicine are called the “gates of the lungs.” Subsequently, as mucus accumulates in the bronchi and then in the lungs, this could most likely lead to the development of obstructive bronchitis and bronchial asthma. First of all, parents were strictly recommended to exclude Yin foods from the child’s diet, including raw vegetables and fruits and milk products, and vice versa, add foods containing Yang energy: replace chicken and pork with lamb, cook porridge only in water, replace carbonated drinks with hot tea and ginger drink, replace sugar with honey. The food had to be brighter in taste, contain warming seasonings (ginger, pepper, onion, garlic) and a sufficient amount of salt. Even just adjusting nutrition in childhood often gives very good results. The therapy prescribed at the Naran clinic included warming procedures (energy massage, warming up) and herbal remedies of Tibetan medicine, which increase the level of energy in the body and remove excess mucus. Very soon, as a result of the treatment, the child began to lose a lot of snot and phlegm, and after 2-3 days Alyosha began to sleep peacefully, breathing freely through his nose.

But the most important thing is that the measures taken in time prevented the development of a terrible disease - bronchial asthma.

Disturbance Constitution Slime occurs due to the predominance of foods with cold Yin energy in the diet (milk and dairy products and cereals with milk, raw vegetables and fruits, sweets, baked goods, potatoes, pasta, etc.); drinking cold drinks, cold, fresh, high-calorie and fatty foods; overeating; abuse of sweet and bitter taste; excessive fluid intake; insufficient physical and mental activity, afternoon sleep, external cooling of the body (wearing light, out-of-season clothing; swimming in cold water; dousing with cold water, etc.).

Mucus disturbance is characterized by the accumulation of fat (obesity), lymph (lymphostasis), water and mucus (colloid or mucoid) in the body. On its basis, “cold” diseases develop: bronchitis and bronchial asthma, allergies, thyroid diseases, atherosclerosis, cancer, joint diseases, diabetes mellitus (Yin type), uterine fibroids, polyps of the mucous membranes of internal organs (gall bladder, stomach, small and large intestines, bladder) and many other diseases. “Mucus in general is “heavy”, “dull”, “cool” and is the basis of all internal diseases” (“ZhudShi”, Tantra of Instructions). The emotional component of people of the Slime type is dominated by sadness, sadness, thoughtfulness, turning into indifference, laziness, and dullness.

To outrage Bile leads to abuse of spicy, fried, fatty, hot, salty and sour foods, alcohol, as well as overheating of the body due to exposure to the heat and sun. The emotional factor is of great importance - anger, irritability, short temper, jealousy, envy and other destructive emotions.

Since the constitution of Bile is of a yang nature, “heat” diseases develop on its basis. “There is no bile - and there can be no heat,” it is written in the treatise “ZhudShi” (Tantra of Explanations).

Bile disturbance leads to liver and gallbladder diseases (hepatitis, cholecystitis, cholecystpancreatitis, cholelithiasis), and also causes the development of cardiovascular diseases (ischemia, hypertension, varicose veins, heart attack, stroke). Characteristic complications of bile disturbance are diabetes mellitus (Yang type), osteoarthritis of small joints, and gout (in men). Women of the Bile constitution experience the most difficult critical age - menopause, which occurs with increased blood pressure, palpitations, and profuse sweating. As a rule, these are women suffering from uterine fibroids caused by disturbance of the Bile constitution.

Disturbance Constitution Wind primarily associated with various kinds of attachments and passions: love passion, passion for enrichment, achieving high social status, attachment to pets, a loved one, games, etc. These passions and attachments deplete the nervous system, leading it to a state of overexcitation , followed by her complete decline, depression.

Secondly, disharmony of the Wind is caused by an incorrect lifestyle and diet: fasting (involuntary or voluntary, for several days or even weeks) or prolonged consumption of low-nutrient food, insufficient sleep, long conversations on an empty stomach, fatigue from hard work, sexual excesses, strong emotions , grief, sadness, crying, difficult thoughts and conversations on unpleasant topics, chaotic thoughts, restraining natural urges or, conversely, pushing.

The third reason is cooling of the body: external (staying in the wind, rain, cold, swimming in cold water, etc.) and internal (consumption of cold food, Yin foods, chilled drinks).

Since the Wind constitution (nervous system) occupies a dominant position in the body, its disturbance can lead to nervous diseases as such (osteochondrosis, neuritis, neuralgia, paralysis, paresis, nervous and mental disorders) and to the exacerbation of diseases based on the predominance of the constitutions of Bile and Mucus. Thus, disturbance of the Wind can cause both “heat” and “cold” diseases. “The wind inflates the heat of bile, chills the cold of mucus... raises gathered diseases from their places, scatters scattered diseases everywhere. Therefore, one should not take one’s eyes off the wind” (“ZhudShi”, Tantra of Instructions). People of the Wind cannot “go with the flow” of their passions, but need to curb their passions, impetuosity of character, excessive emotionality, and sometimes frivolity and should accustom themselves to a regime.

People say: “All diseases come from nerves,” and one cannot but agree with this.

The disturbance of Yang energy and, following it, the inevitable decline in energy with the transition to the Yin state are characterized by many signs by which an experienced doctor of Tibetan medicine can confidently conclude which constitution he is dealing with with disturbance, whether it is in a state of Yang or in a state of Yin, disease is it “heat” or “cold”.

WIND, BILE AND MUcus

Let us now return to the first trunk - the trunk of a healthy body - which has three branches: vital principles, bodily components and excretory products. The three vital principles are "wind", "bile" and "mucus", each of which is divided into five main categories, resulting in fifteen types of vital principles, represented by the fifteen leaves of the branch of vital principles. 14 I will talk about the localization of these fifteen vital principles, the scope of their activity and the essence of their activity.

WIND

The life-sustaining “wind” is located at the crown of the head and, leaving this area, circulates mainly in the chest. As for its functions, it makes swallowing food, inhalation, spitting, belching and sneezing possible. It gives clarity to the mind and senses and is life-sustaining in the sense that it provides physical basis consciousness.

The ascending “wind” is localized in the sternum. It circulates and functions in the nose, tongue and throat. Its purpose is that it provides speech, gives strength and vitality, stimulates activity, gives energy to efforts, gives clarity of memory and sharpness of attention.

The all-pervading or widespread “wind” is localized in the heart. But, although its main location is the heart, it penetrates into all corners of the body. Its purpose is to ensure the bending and straightening of the limbs, as well as the opening and closing of the body's orifices: mouth, eyes, etc. Thus, the all-pervading "wind" controls most muscle actions.

The “wind” that accompanies fire is localized in the lower part of the stomach and circulates in all hollow structures: intestines, gall bladder, heart ducts, etc. Its purpose is to promote digestion, or metabolism, namely the secretion of nutritious juice and the separation of purified and impure parts. As a result, it gives the corresponding color to blood, bile, etc. The stomach is divided into three parts: the upper part is the location of the breaking down “mucus”, the middle part is where the digestive bile works, and the lower part is the part where it carries out its functions “ wind" accompanying fire, so called because it participates in the process of digestion, which is similar to fire.

The emptying “wind” is localized in the genital area. It functions in the lower abdomen: in the large intestine, bladder, genitals and other organs of this part of the body. Its purpose is to control the mechanisms of ejaculation and retention of semen, menstruation, excretion of feces and urine. It also holds the fetus in the uterus and pushes it out during childbirth.

This is how our medical system describes the localization, area of functioning and activity of the five types of “wind”. As for the localization of the “wind” that supports life and the all-pervading “wind,” here the views of the Tantric systems of the Old and New schools differ. The new schools reverse the order of their localization, placing the life-sustaining "wind" at the heart and the all-pervading "wind" at the crown. The old school adheres to the order described above. But the difference in localization does not affect the corresponding functions, which are the same in any case.

In addition to these five main types of "wind", there are five minor types of "wind". They can be further divided into many aspects and categories, but here we will only talk about the main ones.

Question: Are these types of “wind” breathing that occurs throughout the entire body, or something more subtle?

Answer: Here, “wind” refers not only to breathing, but also to those factors that control breathing, as well as many others. Therefore, it is different from breathing itself, although there is a correspondence between their qualities. “Wind” in its qualities is rough, light, cold, thin, hard and moving.

Since “wind” is one of the five primary elements, it is important to have an understanding of their system. Our entire world consists of primary elements: earth, water, fire, wind and space. The organism of a living being also carries within itself the qualities of the same five elements. Thus, blood and “bile” have the nature of fire; “mucus” has the nature of earth and water; "wind" is what moves the first two.

If there were no earth, there would be no foundation, no support. Without water, nothing would have any connection with each other. Without fire, nothing could ripen. Without the wind, nothing could grow and increase. Without space there would be no opportunity or room to grow. It is necessary to understand what vital principles are from the point of view of the five elements. The external environment consists of five elements, and the creatures living in this environment also consist of the same five elements, and therefore the structure of both is the same.

People distinguish six tastes: sweet, sour, bitter, astringent, hot and salty. Taste is determined by the predominance of certain elements. Let's take the carrot as an example and look at it from the point of view of its five elements. The earth (or solidity) gives it its foundation; water acts as a binding factor; fire enables ripening; wind, or air, gives the opportunity to grow, and the element of space gives the opportunity to manifest and develop. Carrots are dominated by the elements earth and water, which gives a sweet taste and therefore, once digested, it increases the strength of the body.

Question: Don’t the two qualities of “wind” contradict each other: “coarse” and “subtle”?

Answer: Just like the qualities of “wind”, “coarse” and “subtle” do not contradict each other. “Rough” means the opposite of “smooth,” and “fine” here means the ability to penetrate everywhere.

Question: Isn’t “wind” equivalent to nerve impulses?

Answer: It's not exactly the same thing. “Wind” controls nerve impulses.

Question: What type of “wind” controls blood circulation?

Answer: Blood circulation is ensured by the all-pervading “wind” and the “wind” that accompanies fire. The “wind” that accompanies fire flows through all the hollow structures of the body, including nerves, blood vessels, etc.

Question: How can you find out which life principle predominates in a given person?

Answer: Actually there are two possible ways research into all phenomena: the first is direct perception, and the second through reasoning. The predominance of any vital principle in the human body can be established by inference. For example, if a person has rough skin, then we can conclude that he has a high level of “wind”. Exactly the same conclusion can be drawn if a person suffers from insomnia. Although this vital principle - "wind" - is not directly perceived, its presence can be assumed by certain symptoms, just as we determine the presence of fire by feeling smoke - a sign of fire.

BILE

“Bile,” which is of the nature of fire, also comes in five types. The first and most important of them is digestive bile: it is very important. It is localized in the abdominal area between undigested and already digested food, i.e. in the center. Its functions are that it, like fire, cooks and prepares food. It separates the purified part of food from the unrefined, produces bodily heat, activates and helps the other four types of “bile”, and provides strength to the body.

Next comes “bile”, which gives color. It is localized mainly in the liver, but functions in all parts of the body. She controls the color of all seven bodily components: nutritious juice, blood, muscles, fat, bones, marrow and reproductive fluid. For example, it makes blood red, bones white, bile yellow, fingernails shiny, etc.

The third is the guiding “bile”. Its localization is the heart, and its functions are that it gives determination, firmness and self-confidence when performing any actions and achieving what is desired, preventing a person from losing heart. Its negative side may be that it gives rise to excessively high self-esteem and pride.

The fourth type of “bile” is the visual “bile”, responsible for vision. It is located in the eyes and allows us to see.

The last variety is “bile”, which adds gloss; it is localized in the skin, gives the skin a pleasant tint, and ensures a good complexion.

The qualities of “bile,” which is essentially of the nature of fire, are oiliness, sharpness, pungency, lightness, aroma, cleansing power and moisture.

SLIME

“Slime” also comes in five types. The first of these is the supporting “mucus”, localized along the sternum. Its main function is to moisturize the body, like saliva in the mouth, but in addition it provides connection, that is, it holds the whole body together and gives support to all other types of “mucus”.

Then comes the breaking down “mucus”, which is localized in the first part of the stomach, where undigested food first enters. Its main function is to mix and break down digested food.

The sensation “mucus” is localized in the tongue. Its purpose is to provide the ability to sense six types of taste: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, hot and astringent.

The satisfying “mucus” located in the brain brings satisfaction. For example, when the eyes see an object or the ears hear a sound, it is she who causes satisfaction. In addition, this type of "mucus" provides discrimination, for example, the distinction of taste - sweet or sour; smell - whether it is pleasant or unpleasant; sound - whether it is melodic or irritating; form - good or not; and so on.

And finally, the connecting “mucus”, localized in all large and small joints, ensures the connection of the joints, their flexion and extension.

“Slime” has the following qualities: oily, cool, heavy, dull, stable, smooth and sticky (viscosity). In total there are twenty qualities of the three life principles.

Question: Do people have a tendency towards the predominance of one of the principles of life?

Answer: Based on the innate predominance of one or another vital principle, all people can be divided into seven groups: those in whom “wind”, “bile” or “mucus” by nature predominate; those in whom the combination of two life principles predominates; and those who combine all three life principles to the same extent. Thus, there are people who have a "wind" nature, a "bile" nature, a "mucus" nature, a "wind-bile" nature, a "wind-mucus" nature, a "mucus-bile" nature, or a "wind-bile" nature. mucus."

Question: Is it possible to identify these types of people by their appearance?
Answer: A doctor can easily identify people with a predominance of one of the vital principles by their appearance alone, without even checking the pulse or examining the urine. With a double combination it is more difficult to do this, and determining a triple combination is very difficult. These types are described in great detail in the texts.

Question: What is the difference between the oiliness of “mucus” and “bile”? And also, what is the difference between the oiliness and stickiness of “mucus”?
Answer: The difference between the oiliness of “mucus” and “bile” is that “mucus” has a superficial oiliness, greasiness, but in fact it does not have an oily nature. In “bile,” on the contrary, oiliness lies in its very nature, and in addition, it also looks oily. Stickiness is not dryness or wetness, but the property of sticking when touched.

Question: What is the connection between the mucus that we cough up and the “mucus” - the principle of life?

Answer: The mucus we cough up does not necessarily come from an excess of "mucus" - the life principle, although, as a rule, it does. Coughing up mucus can also occur with “bile” or “wind” disorders. Coughing up mucus can be a result of too much mucus or too little mucus. The mucus that we cough up and the “mucus” - the vital principle - are connected by the fact that they have a similar nature - earth and water.

“Mucus” - the vital principle connects the body into a single whole, providing factors of liquefaction and hydration. Coughing up mucus is mainly caused by excess mucus force. Mucus helps maintain health when in balance with other vital principles, but causes disease when this balance is disturbed.

Characteristics of the Wind type (Tib. rLung)

A person of Wind constitution has: light, thin build, quick reaction, irregular appetite and digestion. He is a light sleeper and often experiences insomnia. Imagination is developed, he quickly assimilates new knowledge, but also easily forgets it, and is prone to anxiety. There is a tendency to constipation, fatigue, a tendency to overexertion, and impetuous manifestation of mental and physical energy.

The main quality of Wind is “variability”. People belonging to the Wind type are unpredictable and much less stereotypical than Bile and Slime, but the diversity in their sizes, shapes, moods and actions is also one of their distinguishing features. People of this type have mental and physical energy comes out in jerks, they are not constant. They tend to feel hungry at any time of the day or night. Falling asleep at any time of the night, skipping meals and generally leading an irregular lifestyle. Experience short-lived feelings and quickly forget them; walk quickly.

This type of person has the weakest build; he is characterized by narrow shoulders and hips. Some people of the Wind type have difficulty gaining weight or do not gain weight at all, suffer from chronic thinness, others are distinguished by pleasant grace and flexibility. Although people of this type often have extremely different appetites, they can all eat anything without gaining weight. However, for some of them, body weight may vary greatly with age; they can be lean and lanky in their youth, and then become overweight in adulthood.

Deviations from the physical norm result from an excess of Wind - arms and legs can be either too large for a given organism, or too small, just like teeth; Wind also has an irregular taste. Although most people belonging to this type are well-built, saber-shaped legs, club feet, curvature of the spine (scoliosis), and eyes that are too close or too far set often accompany it.

The bones may be either too narrow or too long and wide. In many representatives of this type, the joints, tendons and veins are too large, since the layer of subcutaneous fat is negligible. Crunching in joints is also a common occurrence. The wind is responsible for all types of movement in the body. Your muscles move thanks to the Wind, which also controls breathing, the flow of food into the digestive tract and nerve impulses in the brain.

The most important function of the wind is to control the central nervous system. Tremors, seizures and spasms are characteristic disturbances of the Wind. When a dosha is in a state of imbalance, nervous disorders occur, ranging from anxiety and depression (note that these mild depressions, in which a person feels empty and exhausted, are in no way similar to the severe depressions of Mucus) to clinical mental illness. The deterioration of Wind is characterized by a variety of psychopathic symptoms.

Therefore, establishing balance in this dosha often cures symptoms that do not respond to other treatments. The wind is responsible for starting the action, but does not control its stopping. When the Wind is unbalanced, people often persistently go shopping without buying anything, talk with others without coming to any decision, and are chronically dissatisfied with life. It is believed that people of this type spend too much of themselves, as well as money, energy and words, but all this goes away when they become balanced, since the Wind is responsible for the balance of the whole organism. Most people belonging to the Wind type suffer from anxiety and insomnia, which appears as a result of mental fatigue. Their normal sleep is shorter than that of representatives of other types: on average 6 hours or even less, and with age, sleep time gradually decreases. Their typical negative emotion resulting from stress is anxiety or fear. A common complaint is chronic constipation and/or gas, although people of this type may also suffer from indigestion and generally poor digestion. Stomach cramps, as well as premenstrual pain, are common for this dosha.

A balanced person belonging to the Wind type is inspired, energetic and beaming with happiness. His head is light, he has no difficulty concentrating, and his mood is cheerful. Wind type is very sensitive to environmental changes. Its representatives have a quick, acute reaction to external stimuli; they do not like loud, sharp sounds. Lively, full-blooded, enthusiastic, unpredictable, talkative people with a rich imagination are clearly Wind types. In a state of imbalance, impulsivity often leads to overexertion, excitement turns into nervous exhaustion, and then chronic fatigue or depression.

Of all these properties, perhaps the most important is that Wind is the leading dosha. This means that the Wind is the first to go out of balance, causing the first symptoms of disease. It can disguise itself as other doshas, making you think that the cause of the ailment lies in Bile or Mucus (in fact, more than half of all diseases are caused by a violation of the Wind dosha).

Wind is the king of all doshas also because when it is in balance, then Bile and Mucus, as a rule, also become balanced. Therefore, bringing the Wind into balance is vital. The main rule for people of this type is not to overexert yourself, give yourself a thorough rest and pay serious attention to your daily routine. Such measures are not very popular with such people, but they often lead to a rapid improvement in the physical or mental condition of the patient. The basic instinct of balance, which is extremely important for preserving life, is given to us by the dosha of Wind.

Characteristics of Bile type (µChrys)

People of the mcChris constitution have a medium build, an enterprising character, and a sharp mind. They naturally have a good appetite, but can sometimes become very thirsty. Prone to anger, irritable. The main theme of this dosha is intensity. Every person with bright red hair and a bright complexion has a fair amount of Bile, as does anyone who is distinguished by ambition, wit, directness, insolence, passion for argument, or jealousy. Bile's natural feeling is belligerence, but it does not need to be demonstrated to everyone.

In a normal state, people of this type are overwhelmed by warm feelings, love and contentment with life. A face beaming with happiness is very characteristic of Zhelcha, as is the desire to live by the clock, without throwing time away. Sometimes they may wake up at night from a feeling of thirst and heat; they are able to control the situation or understand the need for it. They know from experience that other people consider them too demanding, sarcastic and at times overly critical.

People like Zhelchi are of average height, they are well built, their body weight, as a rule, does not change dramatically, and it is not difficult for them to gain weight or lose a few kilograms. They are characterized by regular facial features, medium-sized eyes, and a penetrating gaze. The arms and legs are also average, the joints are normal. Bile's hair and skin are easy to recognize. The hair is usually straight and shiny, red, blond or straw-blond, and early gray hair is common. Baldness, thin, brittle hair, hair loss are also typical for representatives of a strongly pronounced Bile type.

The skin is warm, soft and light, tanning does not apply well to it and often such people do not tan at all (especially if the hair is light and thin); This is another reason why people with the Bile constitution are very characteristic of freckles and moles. (For races where dark hair and dark skin are the norm, other properties of Bile must be taken into account). People of this type are distinguished by their sharp mind and ability to concentrate. They have an innate tendency towards order and the ability to correctly distribute not only money, but also energy and strength. The only exception is luxury items that people of this type like to decorate their lives with. Often they react to purely external manifestations.

Heat is the key word to define Bile: violent temperament (they are what they call “hot heads”), warm hands and feet to the touch; hot skin; They often experience a burning sensation in the stomach or intestines when the Bile is out of balance. People of this type cannot tolerate sunlight, as they are hot in themselves. Their eyes also don't like bright colors. Such people cannot withstand prolonged physical stress.

People of the Bile type easily become angry, which is their characteristic negative emotion and often occurs as a result of stress. They are often irritable and impatient, demanding and pedantic, especially if the balance of this dosha is disturbed. They are ambitious and love leadership; they can be harsh and cocky, which often pushes people away. People with a predominance of Bile are able to express their thoughts well and clearly; they often become good speakers. They always take a clear position and know how to defend their opinion. Sarcasm, harsh criticism is a sign that Bile is out of balance, but like other doshas, Bile has two sides: when they are in balance, people of this type become soft, cheerful, sincere and courageous. They love risks and willingly take them without experiencing unnecessary physical stress. They have a normal constitution, but even their excellent digestion - the basis of their energy - can sometimes be disrupted. When they reach middle age, they like to say: “I used to be able to eat anything, but not anymore.”

McChris dosha is responsible for metabolism throughout the body. In people of this type, the “digestive fire,” as Tibetan medicine calls it, is especially strong. Hence their strong appetite and often strong thirst. This type is less adapted than all others to skipping meals or even eating late; all this causes burning hunger and (or) irritation in him. Excess Bile causes a burning sensation in the heart and stomach, leading to ulcers and hemorrhoids. If you do not pay attention to this in time, then unbalanced Bile can greatly spoil digestion.

The skin tissues of people of this type are susceptible to irritation, inflammation, rashes and pimples. They have very sensitive whites and their eyes become red easily (poor vision is also one of the signs of Bile imbalance). They sleep soundly, but can wake up at night from stuffiness. Their sleep duration is average and approaches the “normal” eight hours. Out of balance, these people suffer from insomnia, especially if they are immersed in their work, which, as a rule, is the main content of life.

The main condition for normal existence This type is a moderate, clear daily routine. Each cell of the body is connected with microChris dosha during the absorption of benign food, clean water or air. All types of toxins react to Bile imbalance. Since Bile is especially sensitive to them, representatives of this type cannot tolerate spoiled food, polluted air and water, alcohol and cigarettes and, in addition, react strongly to negative manifestations of human nature, such as hostility, hatred, impatience and jealousy. mChris dosha supports our instinct of moderation and correctness - qualities so necessary for health.

Characteristics of the Slime type (Badcan)

People of the Slime constitution have a strong physique and are naturally endowed with great physical strength and endurance. They are calm and energetic, their movements and gait are smooth and graceful. They have a calm, gentle nature, not prone to anger. Cool, smooth, dense, pale skin, often oily. They have difficulty remembering new information, but they have a long memory, long, continuous sleep and a tendency to be obese. They have slow digestion and little appetite.

The main property of this type is the ability to relax. Badkan dosha, as the structural basis of the body, is responsible for stability and evenness; it concentrates the reserves of physical strength that strong, healthy people are endowed with. Tibetan medicine considers these people lucky because they are usually in excellent health and, in addition, they have a calm, bright, peaceful outlook. It is very common for Slime to think for a long time before making a definite decision.

Wake up slowly, lie in bed for a long time and definitely drink a cup of coffee after getting up; be content with the status quo and be able to maintain it, reconciling others; respect the feelings of other people and have real sympathy for them; find emotional pleasure in food; moving gracefully, having moist eyes and walking with a sliding gait, even when overweight, are the distinctive features of representatives of Slime.

An organism with a predominance of Mucus is strong enough to resist disease. In addition to a good physique, people of this type are distinguished by their portliness, wide hips and (or) shoulders. They gain weight easily - they only need to “look at food” to gain a few kilograms. Since losing weight is not so easy, they often become obese when the dosha balance is disturbed. However, people who are not very robust can also be of this type or a double dosha type, such as Wind-Slime, who may even be thin.

This type is characterized by cool, smooth, dense, pale skin, often oily. Large, soft, “deer” eyes (“as if full of milk,” as the ancient texts say) are also highly characteristic of them. Any feature in the face or figure that hints at calm and stability indicates the predominance of Badkan dosha in that person. Women of this type often have a full, roundish face or a slightly frozen Renaissance beauty.

Representatives of this type are very slow. These also include those people who eat slowly and speak slowly, especially if this manner is deliberate. Calm and balanced, they rarely get angry and strive to maintain peace around them. Their natural response to external stimuli is expressed in the sensation of taste or smell, they pay great attention to food, generally relying on our five senses and are extremely earthly people.

People with excess Badkan dosha have even energy. They have more vitality than representatives of other types, and more desire for physical labor. They are rarely overcome by physical fatigue and it is very common for them to hoard literally everything in the world: money, belongings, energy, words, food and fat. Fat tends to be concentrated in the lower thighs and buttocks.

Since this dosha controls the moist tissues of the body, disturbances in it affect the mucous membranes. Therefore, people of this type often suffer from pulmonary congestion, bronchitis, allergies, asthma and joint pain (although arthritis is more common in the Wind type). These symptoms are most severe in late winter and spring.

By nature, these people are gentle, tolerant and forgiving; motherhood is in their blood. They tend to remain calm during crises and support those around them. They are happy with themselves, but even the most level-headed of them will hesitate if they feel stress coming on. A typical negative quality is greed and importunity. When unbalanced, people of this type become stubborn, boring, sleepy and lazy.

Like Wind, Mucus is a cold dosha, but, unlike Wind, it is not dry. Since blood circulation in people of this type is usually good, they do not complain of cold hands and feet. However, they do not like cold, wet weather and react by becoming sluggish or becoming truly depressed. Their sleep is long and deep. People with a predominance of Mucus sleep, as a rule, more than eight hours and suffer not from insomnia, but from oversleeping. Having spent considerable time getting up in the morning, late at night they experience a surge of energy.

Of all three doshas, people belonging to the Slime type are the slowest to remember new things, but they have a long memory and over time they master their subject well. They are slow to learn new knowledge, but approach it methodically. In a state of imbalance, they are overcome by boredom and walk around with a heavy head.

The main thing for people of this type is to develop and progress. Any stagnant situation turns their stability into inertia; they must be sure that they are moving forward, although they often cling to people and belongings and suffer changes themselves. The confidence that they have good incentives for development, although an unnatural quality for many representatives of this type, is very conducive to their revitalization; heavy, cold food, lack of physical activity, overeating and monotonous work - on the contrary. Badkan dosha gives us a feeling of inner security and peace, and this is very important for human health.

Combination of dosha types

Every person is endowed from birth with the properties of each dosha. What to describe the type of Wind, Bile or Mucus in " pure form"? Only that they are an extreme expression of one dosha. However, this cannot be said about most people. Most people combine two types of doshas, with one dosha being predominant, but not reaching extreme expression. In a sense, a minority belonging to to a single dosha type can be happy in their own way, since such people only need to pay attention to one dominant factor in their life. However, this is a small advantage.

Almost every person should strive to balance all three doshas. While you'll naturally look first at your own body type, becoming familiar with all three doshas is quite enlightening. The best way to study any organism is to pay the lion's share of attention to one or two doshas, all the while remembering that all three function. Identification marks of “pure” body types:

Wind: fragile physique, fast, changeable consciousness, liveliness. These people come across as unpredictable. In difficult circumstances they easily become agitated and alarmed;

Bile: medium build, pedantic and decisive mind, strong-willed manners. These people seem very strong. In difficult circumstances they can be angry and harsh;

Slime: the most powerful physique, calm, stable, easy to handle. They always seem to act at ease. In difficult circumstances, they “stick their heads” and fall silent.

Combine these characteristics and you will get a fairly accurate picture of a person with two doshas. For example, a representative of Wind-Slime can be both easily excitable and calm; This combination is only unrealistic at first glance, but in fact this is exactly what happens. The predominant dosha determines the body's initial reaction to external stimuli, both physical and mental. The second dosha reveals its influence in different ways, but, as a rule, the two doshas do not mix, like two colors on a palette.

If Wind, whose representatives are characterized by a fragile physique, joins Slime, which is characterized by bulk, it is not at all necessary that you will get average parameters (average body sizes are most characteristic of Bile). In fact, what will happen is that one or another trait will appear in the Wind-Slime type. It also happens that a person clearly changes from one dosha to another (the Zhechl-Wind connection can simultaneously or sequentially determine a tendency to fear and irritability after stress). Teaching Tibetan lamas has identified many traits common to dual-dosha types that can help you better understand how all these doshas fit together.

Wind-Bile

Typically, these people, like the pure Wind type, have a fragile physique. Like their corresponding Wind bearers, they have fast, impetuous movements, are friendly, talkative, but more enterprising and quick-witted (both traits characteristic of Bile). They are less likely to rush to the extremes of the Wind; they are not as tense, fragile and/or disordered. Thanks to the influence of Bile, they gain complete stability. They usually digest food better than Wind types, and they tolerate cold better because Bile improves blood circulation. The pure Wind type, extremely sensitive to the environment, often does not tolerate harsh sounds, cold and physical discomfort, which is less true for Wind-Bile.

Bile-Wind

People of this type are usually of normal figure and average height, but they are stronger and more muscular than Wind-Bile types, who are closer to the wiry, clean Wind types, often called "skin to the bone." People who combine Bile and Wind are more mobile, they have a lot of vitality, and they are often assertive. Bile's persistence in them is obvious. The lightness of the Wind is also evident, but to a much lesser extent. They digest food better than Wind-Bile or Wind types and have more regular bowel movements. They love risks and take on business with considerable enthusiasm, and often with aggressiveness.

Carriers of Wind-Bile and Bile-Wind may experience a tendency towards fear and anger - negative emotions characteristic of these doshas. When they are unbalanced or stressed, the combination of these two emotions makes them uncontrollable, feeling tense and insecure.

Bile-Slime

Mucus is such a strong structural component that it seems to lend a strong, powerful physique to dual dosha types, even when it is not dominant in them. The Bile-Slime type is usually easily recognized due to the assertive manner of the Bile and the strong, healthy body characteristic of the Slime. They are more muscular than the Zhechli-Vetra representatives and can be quite bulky. Their personality may reflect the evenness of the Slime's character, but the will of the Bile, complemented by a tendency to anger and a critical view of others, is usually a more pronounced quality than the calmness of the Slime.

This is the best body type for athletes as it gives the energy of Bile and the stamina of Mucus. People belonging to this type have difficulty skipping one meal. The combination of excellent digestion of Bile and resistance to Mucus is the key to excellent physical health.

Mucus-Bile

The form-forming resistance of Slime is even more noticeable in this type. Its representatives have excellent muscles, although the fat content in their bodies is higher than that of people of the Bile-Slime or Bile type. Therefore, they are more round-faced and plump. They walk slower than Bile-Slime and have a more casual manner. Their Badkan dosha, enriched with Bile, gives them additional vitality and smooth energy. If representatives of this type have regular exercise stress, then they feel good, compensating with its help the Slime’s tendency to inertia and lethargy; however, they are more difficult to motivate to action than people of the Bile-Mucus type.

Wind-Slime

This type is difficult to identify because Wind and Slime are antipodes. Usually they are given away by the combination of the fragility of the Wind with the ease, easy manners of the Slime, which does not happen with the pure Wind type. In other words, these are Slime-type personalities, but without its external impressiveness. In fact, they may be small because their physical appearance is determined by the unevenness of the Wind.

Unlike people of the Wind type, who are in constant motion, representatives of Wind-Slime give the impression of being internally stable; They have an even temperament, but can react to stress like nervous representatives of the Vata type. When they need to act, they become quick and energetic, but constantly experience the tendency to hesitate and procrastinate, characteristic of Badkan dosha. They are also overcome by the desire to save and store in reserve. Since both these doshas are cold, they cannot tolerate cold weather. This can also explain irregular or slow digestion.

Slime-Wind

This type resembles the Wind Slime, but is more imposing and slower. The Mucus gives them a laid-back, poised quality without the Wind's over-exuberance. In addition, its representatives are more athletic and have a significant supply of vitality. Like Wind-Slime people, they may complain of improper digestion, as well as the fact that they cannot stand the cold.

Diet that calms the wind

The following are favorable for this dosha: warm, not too heavy food; use of oil and fat; salty, sour and sweet tastes; food that brings peace and satisfaction. Wind is a cold, dry dosha, so warm, nutritious food common in winter - stews, soups, casseroles, freshly baked bread and fruit pies - will soothe it perfectly. The foods we prefer in summer - cold salads, chilled drinks, fresh vegetables and herbs - are not very suitable for her. Representatives of the Wind type often have unstable digestion; soft, easily digestible food will help them. Vata dosha is also very sensitive to the atmosphere in which food is consumed. The best food in the world won't do you any good if the tension at the table makes your stomach churn. Anything that makes dinner more calm and quiet will help calm Vata dosha.

The Wind Calming Diet is best for anyone of this type unless specifically prescribed by a Lama. Once you start following a diet, you will notice how new strength flows and you will feel more balanced, calmer and happier. If you are experiencing mild symptoms of Wind imbalance - insomnia, nervousness and anxiety - you should try the same diet. Stick to it for two weeks and see if there is any improvement.

For those considering a Wind Calming diet, we find it helpful to note the following points: All calming foods tend to have a beneficial effect on disturbed Vata dosha. Milk (preferably warm), cream, butter, warm soups, casseroles and well-stewed meats, hot cereals and freshly baked bread - this is what this dosha needs.

All this food is predominantly warm and heavy, has a sweet taste, and is most soothing to the body. A nutritious breakfast (preferably a hearty one) will support the Wind throughout the day. Rice or wheat creams are the best cereals for Wind. Everything warm, milky and sweet also has a beneficial effect on it.

Many people belonging to the Wind type feel a sharp loss of strength at the end of a meal. Hot sweet tea will help them. Remember the tea party. Herbal tea calms you better than regular tea, which is high in caffeine and can disturb the wind. Try brewing tea with the medicinal letter. This herb is believed to be great for calming the nerves. You can purchase it in homeopathic pharmacies or order special Tibetan tea that calms the Wind at our Centers. Find 5 minutes at work to quietly drink a cup of tea before heading home, and you'll feel incomparably less tired at the end of the day.

Spicy flavors are not one of Wind's favorites, but spicy foods tend to appeal to this type, as typically spicy Mexican or Indian food tends to be warm and rich in oil. Ginger is an ideal spice for Wind and is often used to improve digestion, as are sweet spices (cinnamon, fennel or cardamom). Warm, liquid food has a very calming effect on the Wind. Flour dishes and porridges are perfect for her.

When you're nervous, anxious, or depressed, a hot plate oatmeal or vegetable soup with sour cream will bring you incomparably more benefit than candy or a glass of alcohol. Although the sweet taste is favorable to the Wind, sugar, eaten in its pure form, causes a sharp surge of energy, making the Wind restless. Warm milk is a sweet food; it is very useful for the Wind, especially if you add a little sugar or honey to the milk.

Sweets made from sugar should be combined with nutritious foods such as milk. Salted nuts are better than any dry or salty snack; heavy and fatty, they have two qualities that calm the Wind. For her, there is nothing better than almonds. Tibetan medicine recommends peeling almonds before eating; A practical tip is to soak a dozen unshelled almonds overnight, then peel and eat in the morning to balance the Wind.

Nuts and seeds are difficult to digest, so Wind type people should eat them in small quantity, preferably well ground. Sesame paste is an excellent source of sesame oil, one of best dishes, warming and balancing the Wind. For representatives of the Wind type, all sweet fruits are good, especially green grapes and mangoes. Astringent fruits, such as some apples and pears, require cooking. Unripe, highly astringent fruits, especially unripe bananas, should be avoided.

Cold, light and low-calorie foods increase Wind, causing a feeling of dissatisfaction. If you're partial to salads, let them come to room temperature and dress them with oil, which makes them a more balanced meal. The same applies to fresh vegetables. Eat them in moderation and not ice-cold. As a rule, all vegetables require cooking with a little oil, this method is better than steaming them. As a result, many “unhealthy” vegetables will become more acceptable to Vata dosha.

When going to lunch, ask for a glass warm water and drink it in small sips; instead of salad, eat a bowl of hot soup; do not deny yourself bread, butter and dessert, preferably warm (in this case, apple pie is incomparably better than ice cream, which with its coldness makes digestion difficult for people of the Wind type).

Rice served with oiled lentils and rich soup are very good. All types of pastes have a very calming effect on this dosha. It’s great to drink a glass of warm milk before going to bed; However, eating late at night is still unhealthy, and although it will help you sleep, you will feel worse in the morning. Lassi, a traditional Indian drink, will rid the body of excess Wind. To prepare it, whisk half a cup of regular kefir with half a cup of water, add a pinch of crushed ginger and salt. An effective and instant way to calm the Wind is to sprinkle your dish with special, powdered spices called Vata-Churna, which can be purchased in Moscow, for example, in stores: “The Path to Yourself”.

Bile Calming Diet

The following are favorable for this dosha: cold or warm, but not scalding foods; moderately heavy; tastes bitter, sweet or astringent; without oil and fat additives. People like Bile are born with good, strong digestion, and if you don’t spoil it, it will remain that way. Representatives of the Bile type are closest to the ideal, since they can eat a little of everything and should not abuse various diets. However, if they eat a lot of salty foods, overindulge in sour and spicy foods, or overeat, which they tend to do, this can lead to unpleasant consequences.

McChris is a hot dosha and therefore prefers cold foods, especially in summer. People of this type will do well to show a special interest in everything bitter and astringent (mainly salads and vegetables). This curbs the appetite, dries up excess moisture and irritates the palate, counteracts the dulling effect that excess salt and sugar have on the taste buds, thereby helping Bile type people to moderate their appetite and make it what it should naturally be. Anything that can make dinner more peaceful and orderly will help calm this dosha.

The following diet, which calms the Bile, is suitable for all representatives of this type, unless the Lama doctor prescribes otherwise. Our Bile patients report that this diet makes them feel more balanced; the diet gives them "light" energy. Their vigorous appetite also decreases. This diet is good for people suffering from symptoms of moderate bile imbalance: heartburn, irritability or excessive thirst. Stick with it for a month and see if these symptoms improve.

I'll give you some general remarks that will help you follow this diet. Cold or refrigerated foods with a reduced content of salt, oil and spices that warm the body are most beneficial for people of the Bile type in the summer. Salads, which are both cold and light, have two tastes: bitter and astringent, which balance Bile. Milk and ice cream are also good for her. Excess Bile increases acidity in the body; To prevent this, you should, as a rule, avoid pickles, kefir, sour cream and cheese.

The exception is natural lemon juice, which can be used in moderation instead of vinegar. Enzymatic foods, acid present in coffee and alcoholic drinks aggravate Bile due to the sour taste. Get used to herbal tea - mint with licorice root or a special one that soothes Bile, and then you will have big choice sedatives.

Cold porridge, a slice of cinnamon bread and apple juice for breakfast will perfectly replace coffee, pie and orange juice, which disturb Bile. Fatty meat, which also warms the body, is not required by people of the Bile type. Although they love meat, they benefit from a vegetarian diet more than any other type. If you are not a vegetarian, make sure you have enough milk, grains and vegetables in your diet. In this case, Bile will feel good. Having become accustomed to dietary restaurant cuisine, McChris-dosha will love it more than homemade steaks or food from Mexican cafes, because he will feel calmer and then more satisfied.

Fried foods, fatty, hot, salty and heavy, have all the qualities that Bile should avoid. Food containing starch - all vegetables, fruits and legumes - satisfies Bile and restrains its voracious appetite. The stable energy provided by a high carbohydrate diet will counteract Bile's tendency to overeat when stressed. Convenience foods and fast food restaurants are often salty or sour; Bile type people are better off avoiding it if possible. Since representatives of this type love luxury, a quiet, tastefully furnished restaurant will be most suitable for them.

Japanese and Chinese cuisines, which contain relatively little fat and meat, provide good food for Bile. If you're eating out, have a salad instead of hot soup, bread with a little butter, and sacrifice dessert. Spicy food excites the Bile too much; if you love Mexican cuisine, use minimal cheese and sour cream; It is better to eat a cold vegetable salad, which counteracts the severe aggravation of Bile caused by capsicum.

Bile accepts lightly salted food well, but if the food is too bland, it will quickly rebel. Dry, salty foods together with alcohol stimulate the appetite and irritate the gastric mucosa. The standard remedy for reducing aggravated Bile is as follows: take two teaspoon purified milk. This solution also acts as a laxative, helping to remove excess Bile from the body. Drink milk with ghee instead of dinner or after a light dinner. You can also drink it instead of breakfast. (However, if you have high cholesterol, you should not take it). To effectively and quickly calm the Bile, sprinkle cardamom on your dishes.

Mucus Calming Diet

The following are favorable for this dosha: warm, light, dry food cooked with a small amount of water; minimum amount of animal and vegetable oil and sugar; pungent, bitter and astringent tastes; any stimulating food.

Mucus is too slow a dosha to determine food cravings, but over time, by overindulging in sweets and fatty foods, people like Mucus lose balance. They may develop other problems, but in a modern society where sugar and fat account for on average more than half of the calories consumed, people of this type should be wary of their influence. You also need to be careful with salt, excessive consumption of which causes stagnation of fluid in the body in many representatives of Mucus. Preference should be given to everything light - a modest breakfast and dinner, lightly boiled or fried food, fresh vegetables and fruits.

Spicy foods improve digestion and warm the body; bitter and astringent - helps curb appetite. Any stimulating food balances the Mucus and protects against this type of immoderate gluttony present in most people. The calming diet below is ideal for all Slime types unless otherwise prescribed by your Lama. Many of our patients who followed this diet began to feel more balanced, energetic, lighter and happier.

This diet is also good if symptoms of moderate mucus imbalance appear - a prolonged runny nose or regular oversleeping. Stick with it for six weeks and then see if your condition improves. The following guidelines will help you follow the Slime Calming Diet. Choose hot rather than cold food among all dishes: eat a hot breakfast instead of a sandwich, hot pie instead of ice cream, grilled fish instead of tuna salad. For balance, it is always good to warm the cold digestion of Slime type people. They prefer dishes prepared without water - baked, fried on the stove or grilled - than steamed or boiled.

Before meals, eat something bitter or spicy instead of salty or sour to increase your appetite. Bitter lettuce, chicory, and tonic water will awaken your taste buds and at the same time keep you from overeating. We highly recommend that you drink ginger tea or add a pinch of fresh ginger to your food. In general, you want to make sure that each dish contains bitter and astringent flavors. To do this, there is no need to consume large amounts of bitter food, just a little bitterness in salad and viscosity in herbal seasonings. At the same time bitter and pungent among the common spices are cumin, hag, sesame seed and turmeric.

The best way to balance Mucus is to include hot spices in your diet. All spices are good, as are Mexican or Indian foods rich in them, which will bring tears to your eyes, thereby cleansing the mucous membranes. Contrary to popular belief, hot and spicy foods are healthier not in summer, but in winter, when they compensate for cold and dampness that irritate Mucus. Slime people need breakfast mainly to cheer themselves up in the morning, and not to be thoroughly satiated. To cheer them up, it is better to drink caffeinated coffee and stimulate the body with light, mucus-reducing food: buckwheat pancakes with apple butter, corn muffin and bitter cocoa made from skim milk with a tiny amount of honey. As a rule, everything hot and light is good, while everything heavy and cold is less healthy. Cold cereals, cold juice or milk, and sugar-rich confectionery products often lead to stagnation in the body, especially in damp winter weather.

Bacon and sausages containing salt and vegetable oil cause mucus to worsen. If you do not feel hungry in the morning, it is better to skip breakfast, which Tibetan medicine considers unnecessary, especially for people of the Mucus type. If you feel stagnation in the body in the morning, a sign of excess mucus, eat some honey, drink hot water, lemon juice. Hot ginger tea is an excellent drink for Mucus type people as it has a stimulating effect on their body and flushes out excess Mucus. If you accidentally miss a meal - which is not a bad thing for most representatives of this type - then a full tablespoon of honey diluted in hot water will help you compensate for this loss. Although many Mucus type people find it difficult to limit their intake of sweets, a week-long low-sugar diet usually produces good results and they begin to feel lighter and more energetic.

Honey is widely recommended for the Mucus type, but you should not eat more than a tablespoon of it per day. Out-of-balance Mucus leads to the fact that people of this type begin to give preference to milk, butter, ice cream and sweets, food that is not healthy for them at all, cooling and overloading the body. Skimmed milk, preferably boiled, to aid digestion, and a minimal amount of other dairy products are another matter. Buns and bread sprinkled with sesame seeds will help neutralize sweet, heavy foods, which are also not healthy for Mucus. Due to the combination of too many heavy sweets, a hamburger, milkshake or even a milk sandwich should not be consumed too often.

People of this type benefit greatly from fresh fruits, vegetables and salads; their fibrous structure is good for the gastrointestinal tract and, in addition, they provide an astringent taste. Heavily fried foods also aggravate mucus; try to exclude it from your diet. There is no need to completely give up fats, just try to use less oil when cooking. Corn oil warms the body; Sunflower oil will also benefit you in small quantities. Slime type people should be careful with restaurant food. Fast food cafe food is often too fatty, salty or sweet; Also try not to overuse salad dressings at lunch counters.
