How to do aromatic salt DIY bath – tips and recipes

A warm, aromatic bath is what we dream about when returning home after a busy day at work. It seems that there is nothing more pleasant in the world than plunging into snow-white foam, forgetting for a while about all problems and worries, surrendering to the power of wonderful aromas. A few minutes of bliss fragrant bath- both from fatigue and bad mood not a trace remained. No wonder – bath salts treat not only the body, but also the soul. And to make aromatherapy even more effective, try making your own bath salts. You will save not only money, but also the time that you will have to spend searching for your favorite scent if it is suddenly not in the store. In addition, homemade bath salt is a guarantee that there will be no skin problems - you will know exactly what is added to the cosmetics. Making aromatic bath salts is very simple.

How to make your own bath salts

1. Choose a base

There is no need to invent anything, everything has already been tested and better basis considered ordinary sea salt. You can buy it at any pharmacy, and it is very inexpensive. Both adults and children can take a bath with sea salt; it has multidirectional effects and practically no contraindications. Baths with sea salt relax and soothe, relieve inflammation and heal small wounds, and iodine also has a beneficial effect on work thyroid gland. Add to this the tonic effect of sea salt itself on the skin, and the fact that many ailments and skin problems can be treated with such a pleasant treatment.

When choosing sea salt for the base, pay attention to the composition - the salt should not contain any additives - neither dyes nor flavors.

It happens that sea salt is not at hand at the right time or in the nearest pharmacy. In this case, you can use ordinary table salt, the one used in cooking, as a basis.

2. Select flavors and additives

If you want to not only soak in warm salty water, but also improve your skin condition, prepare pink bath salts. Early in the morning, as soon as the dew has disappeared, pick the petals from several roses. Take 200 gr. sea salt and a convenient jar with a lid. Fill the jar almost to the top, alternating layers of flower petals and salt, close tightly and store in a warm place for several weeks. This salt is added 5 tbsp. spoons for the bath. In addition to roses, you can add other flowers that grow in your garden.

Do you want to relax and improve your mood? There is nothing better for this than a bath with lavender salts. Three small cups of sea salt and two tablespoons baking soda mix and add 15 drops of lavender essential oil. The salt is placed in a jar and left for a week. To enhance the effect, you can also add a little dried lavender.

Need a pick-me-up? Prepare tonic salt for this occasion. Pour two glasses of sea salt into a jar, add 15 drops of essential oil peppermint, 10 drops rosemary oil and 6 drops eucalyptus oil. The jar is closed, shaken and stored in a warm place for a week.

It is generally accepted that with rapid fatigue and chronic fatigue, adding a few drops of tea tree essential oil to sea salt helps. If you notice problems with nervous system– add lemon, mint, lavender oil to the salt. When there are wounds or inflammations on the skin, you can add rosewood oil to the salt, which also helps with dry, problematic skin. The process of preparing aromatic salt is the same - add selected aromatic additives to the salt, close the jar tightly and put it away in a warm place for a week. In order for the salt to be better saturated with aromas, the jar needs to be shaken periodically. It is usually recommended to add 200 grams of aromatic salt per bath.

Choosing flavor additives , be sure to take into account individual odor tolerance. If the aromatic salt is ideal in its effect, but you can barely stand the smell, there can be no talk of any positive result after such a water procedure. Poor health and psychological discomfort will completely cover everything beneficial features sea salt and essential oils.

Fragrant bath salt.

Taking baths with sea salt is not only possible, but also beneficial. And if the salt also smells pleasant... And if this smell is exactly the one that is good for you...

To prepare wonderful aromatic bath salts yourself, and not buy who knows what in the store for a lot of money, we will need the following Ingredients.

3 cups salt. You can use “simple” coarse sea salt. But it will probably be more interesting to use Dead Sea salt or Himalayan pink salt, or Epsom salt. It's just that sea salt is cheaper, of course. If you feel like mixing two or three different salts in any proportions, then you can safely do it.

I combine salt different sizes grinding, you can achieve attractive external effects. However, keep in mind that the larger the pieces, the longer they will dissolve. In the end, you can even get hurt if you accidentally step or sit on a large piece of crystal that has not completely dissolved.

For the indicated amount of salt you will need from 15 to 25 drops of your favorite essential oil. Be careful - not all oils are suitable for bathing. Read the instructions for your oil.

For a moisturizing effect, you can add a tablespoon to salt and essential oil. coconut oil, jojoba oil or even olive oil.

Preparation.

Pour the selected salt or their mixture into a bowl of sufficient volume. Add a tablespoon of vegetable oil (component number three) and mix thoroughly until you are completely satisfied with the work done. There is no need to mix with your hands - a high concentration of salt in the oil will be bad for the skin! So mix with a spoon. Keep in mind that vegetable oil– optional component.

Now add some salt essential oil or a mixture of oils and mix thoroughly again.

Pour the resulting aromatic salt into a container suitable for storage. The container should be beautiful in appearance and have a tight lid. If the lid is not completely tight, the essential oils will evaporate quite quickly.

The next day, if you remember, stir your salt one more time to be sure that the essential oil is evenly distributed.

Salt coloring.

In principle, some salts are already colored. For example, the above-mentioned pink Himalayan salt and pink Black Sea salt... Mix it in any proportion with white “regular” salt - and you will get beautiful pink crystals on a white background (or vice versa - depending on which salt you take more).

If you want to pamper yourself, you can color the aromatic salt in any color using food coloring. Many of these dyes are natural and safe, but you can never be sure that you are not allergic to a particular dye.

To color, add one drop at a time to the salt before adding the essential oil, and stir the salt a little after each drop. For the indicated portion you will need 25-30 drops of dye.

There is no need to color the salt more intensely. First of all, you certainly don’t want to get out of a bathtub painted from head to toe in a pleasant shade of purple or blue? And secondly, not everyone will like taking a bath in colored water. So, with all the external temptingness of the product, there is no need to overdo it with dyes.

How to use the resulting salt.

Well, everything is simple here. Pour salt into the bath and ENJOY! Some people like to add salt while filling the bath, and then the salt has time to dissolve by the time you immerse yourself. But the aroma has time to fade slightly.

And some people like to pour salt immediately before loading themselves into the bathroom. Sitting on not very large salt crystals while they dissolve is even useful - not just a massage 😉 .

I am a fan of taking a hot bath with aromatic salts, but recently I began to think about the quality of similar products offered in supermarkets. In production I mainly use chemical dyes that are dried skin covering and can cause an allergic reaction, and the cheapest industrial salt is used for production. So I wondered how to make bath salts with my own hands from natural ingredients. Be confident in the quality of the products you use for your body!

Urban lifestyle - a big problem modern man. We don’t notice how the day passes in a bustle, and during the night we don’t have time to recover the body before new stresses - on the physiological and psycho-emotional spheres. Experts recommend visiting SPA treatments at least several times a month. But you yourself understand that this is not always possible due to the high cost and lack of free time. Then doctors strongly advise you to relax after a hard day - take a salt bath, this procedure brings undeniable benefits to the body. Don't forget to light an aroma lamp with natural essential oils that relax and calm the mind.

  • Moisturizes the epidermis and maintains the required level of moisture.
  • Stimulates proper blood circulation and lymph movement.
  • Prevents the appearance of cellulite, as it relieves inflammation of the subcutaneous tissue after a sedentary day.
  • Makes the skin elastic and toned.
  • Activates collagen production.

  • Slightly reduces weight due to normalization of metabolic processes.
  • Removes waste and toxins from the body.
  • Has a beneficial effect on joints.

A concentrated salt bath is used to get rid of corns and calluses.

Do not forget that improper use of salt baths can cause harm to the body, so you must be sure to familiarize yourself with the precautions.

What you need to know about salt baths?

  • Do not take salt baths if you have problems with the cardiovascular system, hypertension or hypotension.
  • It is forbidden to take salt and soda baths if you have cancer.
  • The presence of open wounds on the skin can lead to discomfort (tingling, burning).
  • It is also recommended that allergy sufferers first consult with their doctor.

Rules for the procedure

  • You can only take a bath for 15-20 minutes so that there is no strain on your cardiovascular system and increased blood pressure.
  • It is not recommended to take a bath immediately after eating; you must wait at least 60 minutes.
  • Even if you love very much hot water, recommended temperature is 38-40 degrees.
  • It is necessary to immerse yourself in water gradually, not abruptly. The shoulders should go under the water last.
  • Why does the skin on my fingers wrinkle from water? I think everyone knows this now, but in childhood, we were all worried about the mystery of the appearance of wrinkles on our fingers from swimming in water. This means that the entire protective layer has been washed away and the skin has become saturated with water - a sign that you need to stop bathing!
  • If you feel sleepy, get out of the bath quickly! If you fall asleep, it will cause harm to your body, you may even lose consciousness.

Bath salt recipes

I recommend using natural remedies homemade, as an alternative to store-bought ones. You will spend a little time, but give your body health! I have selected several fragrant and bright recipes that have been tested more than once. Try it, you will definitely like it. For production, high-quality sea or Epsom salt is usually used; preference is given to salt from the Dead Sea - because it is impressive in its content of useful microelements.

Fragrant salt with dried lavender flowers

Do you want to turn your head with fragrant floral aroma and saturate the skin with vitamins A, E, C.

Components

  • Sea salt(without additives) - 400 g.
  • Dried lavender - 2.5 tablespoons.
  • Lavender essential oil - 7 drops.
  • Food coloring.

Cooking process

  1. Use a glass container to mix ingredients.
  2. Place ready mixture in a bag or jar with a tight-fitting lid so that the aroma does not dissipate.
  3. You can use the salt after 7 days, during which time it will be well infused and saturated.

Salt baths were used in Ancient Egypt. Queen Cleopatra especially loved this procedure. The composition contains a large amount of iodine (has an anti-inflammatory effect) and bromine (has a relaxing and calming effect).

Additives can include not only oils and herbs, but also special glosses, powder (you can buy them in stores specializing in home soap making), as well as pieces of fruit, dried, of course.

Pine salt

Needles have anti-inflammatory and tonic properties, and also remove waste and toxins from the epidermis that provoke the development of cellulite. Such baths can be taken by hypertensive patients, but not longer than 5-7 minutes.

Components

  • Sea salt - 300 g.
  • Table salt - 100 g.
  • Pine branches, needles and cones.
  • Coniferous essential oil - 0.5 teaspoon.

Cooking process

Buy at New Year coniferous tree, and then use it for medicinal purposes. Simmer the natural ingredients over low heat for 20 minutes. Let the finished “broth” brew for at least 10 hours. For about a liter of this decoction you will need 400-500 g of salt. Mix all the ingredients and leave to brew for a week.

For delicate and sensitive skin with argan oil

I have to admit, this is my favorite recipe! Because I am a big fan of argan oil, I bought it in Morocco, and now I regularly add it to a variety of homemade skin care products.

Argan oil is considered a rejuvenating elixir due to its unique regenerative properties. Argan trees grow only in northern Africa (Tunisia, Morocco and some islands of Spain). Russian stores mainly sell diluted oil. Therefore, you will have to travel to exotic countries on your own.

Components

  • Table salt - 300 g.
  • Soda - 1 tablespoon.
  • Argan oil - 2 tablespoons.
  • Dry chamomile (or some other herb) - 1 tablespoon.
  • Fragrant essential oil (your favorite). I use mint.

Cooking process

Instead of table salt you can use sea water, but more cheap option also copes well with its duties. I add a little soda, because soda baths are good for getting rid of cellulite.

By the way, it is also recommended to add a little salt for bathing babies. But such procedures are allowed only for children from 6 months. For approximately 10 liters you will need 100 grams. Salt baths are even prescribed to children as part of course activities. Weekly for 2-3 minutes.

I’ll share one secret - about three years ago I read in one printed edition that salt prevents cancer cells from dividing. If you take baths regularly, you will reduce your risk of developing cancer.
