The cards of each pack are laid out so that they form one of the sides of the so-called magic triangle, indicating the past, present and future (the upper horizontal side of the triangle is the future, this is the first pack of this row; the left, going down, is the past, this is the second pack; the right side going down is the present, this is the third pack).
A fortuneteller's card, previously removed from the deck, is placed in the center of the triangle.
The meaning of the dropped cards is interpreted based on the meaning of the packs:
- 1 – physical and mental properties of the fortuneteller, character, habits, temperament;
- 2 - property issues, commercial activities, land ownership;
- 3 – brothers and sisters, relatives and friends;
- 4 – father, mother, real estate and inheritance, hidden wealth, possible profits;

- 9 – science, art, religion, professional problems;
- 10 – social status, honors, relationships with the state;
- 11 – charity and generosity, friends;
- 12 – enemies and pursuers, sorrows, adversity.
Fortune telling with cards using wheat grains
This fortune telling was very popular at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, usually using a deck of gypsy, or stingray, cards.
This is a deck of ordinary playing cards, on which the suits are designated as follows: diamonds in the form of bells, hearts in the form of hearts, spades in the form of leaves, and clubs in the form of acorns.
If you don't have such a deck, you can use a regular one.
For fortune telling, you will also need a wheat grain (or other rounded object), which must be rolled into melted wax.
The deck is thoroughly shuffled and laid out in the shape of a circle (see figure).
After the cards are laid out, close your eyes and, without looking, throw a grain of wheat into this circle. Look at which card the grain fell on.

Interpretation of fortune telling: worms.
Ace - you have a true heart. Don't be discouraged, you will still be happy. Loyalty is always rewarded.
King - your virtue was ignited by love. Don't worry, everything will be as you want, just be careful: the flame burns.
Lady - everything will come true in three months. But beware of being angry and don't show your feelings.
Jack - the absent one has not forgotten you. He misses being apart and is looking forward to meeting you.

Interpretation of fortune telling: tambourines

Interpretation of fortune telling: clubs
Ace - don't despair. Try to forget your failure by doing something. Happiness will return to you.
The king is the one you think of, the great cunning one. Try to avoid him. But when you meet him, be friendly.
Lady - you are loved. Soon your wish will come true.
Jack - it is unlikely that your plans will come true. False success will crown your desires. Be calm and don't think about it anymore.
Ten - calm down. Soon your sorrows will pass, and your wish will come true.

Execution
Take a deck of 36 cards. The fortuneteller's card is found (we have already described this process), placed in the center of the table, the deck is shuffled, removed, one card is taken out at random and placed face down, “on the heart.”
Then two cards are laid out in stacks “at the feet”, “in the head” of the fortuneteller, on the right, on the left and in the spaces between these pairs - a total of 16 cards. The remaining deck is dealt with as follows: three cards are discarded, one is placed on the fortuneteller’s card, and this is done four times until there are five cards “on the heart.”
Then the cards lying around the fortuneteller's card are laid out. At the end of the layout, the cards lying “on the heart” are laid out and their meaning is deciphered. Particular importance is attached to the cards closest to the center, first of all the top ones, and then the side ones. Bottom cards have less value.
Cards lying “on the heart” speak of the near future. The predominance of peaks indicates awaiting difficulties and experiences, and the figures suggest the culprits of the misfortunes. The abundance of hearts indicates the benefits and joys awaiting you.
A pair of bottom cards “above the head” and three pairs to the left (top, middle and bottom) foreshadow the near future; “under your feet” - the fast-moving present and what is, and what will be and will pass, if these are any current troubles (illness, financial difficulties).
A figure that repeatedly appears “under the feet” of a fortuneteller should soon disappear from his life; the cards can clarify how. The cards “behind” the fortuneteller show the past, and those to the right and above show what will happen far away from him.
The bottom two in the right corner are the distant, difficult to predict future in the most general terms.
After this cycle, all the cards are collected, shuffled and laid out in threes: for yourself, for the house, for the family. This is done in order to later answer the questions: “What happened, what will happen, how will the heart calm down?”
You can remove identical pairs from this layout different colors(for example, black and red sevens, eights, nines, etc.). The remaining cards indicate what inevitably awaits the fortuneteller and what he himself could only guess about.
Hearts in the layout:
