Site plan
It is best to start construction by drawing up a work plan. To do this, it is necessary to measure the perimeter of the latter, as well as determine the location of the gate section and wicket. If you want to build a fence at low cost, the most suitable option are point supports - in this case, a foundation is not required to build a fence. 
When calculating the number of support pillars, you should remember that they are installed no further than 3 m from each other. Otherwise, the transverse logs will begin to sag over time, which will lead to a loss of strength of the fence.
Support posts for gates and wickets, as well as corner supports, should be more massive than purlins, since in fact they support the entire fence structure. For the former, it is best to choose a metal profiled pipe with a cross-section of 6x6 cm, and a profile of 4x4 cm will do an excellent job as the latter.

Let's assume that you have chosen as the main material wooden picket fence 1.5 m high, the width and thickness of which are 15x2.5 cm. To ensure wind resistance of the fence and its overall reliability, the installation depth of the support posts should be equal to a third of the height. In this case, the lower edge of the support should be located 20 cm below the soil freezing line. If on your site the latter does not exceed 80 cm, then the height of the support will be 2.5 m.
In areas with heaving or weak sandy soils the support pillars will have to be rammed. On strong soil, it will be possible to get by with the pile or driving method of installation. The supports of high and heavy fences installed on normal soils will have to be concreted.
Once you have decided on the basic materials, all that remains is to buy them and deliver them to the construction site. Construction of wooden fences: algorithm of actions

The construction of the fence is carried out in several stages:
- Site marking.
- Installation of supports.
- Installation of picket fences on transverse joists.
- Installation of crossbars on supports.
- Finishing of metal and wooden surfaces.
To mark the future fence you will need a tape measure, metal or wooden pegs and a nylon cord. Installation of support pillars
This is the most labor-intensive stage of construction. Each support, or rather the quality of its installation, requires the closest attention. After all, the reliability of the entire fence directly depends on this.
Backfilling of support pillars is performed as follows:
- Using a crowbar and a shovel, holes of the required depth are dug, the diameter of which should be approximately three times the diagonal cross-section of the supports.
- Sand is poured into the bottom of the hole approximately 5 cm high, which is watered and thoroughly compacted.
- A post is placed at the bottom of the hole and a mixture of crushed stone and sand is poured 20-30 cm deep, which must be compacted properly.
- During the installation of each of the supports, you must carefully monitor the correct level.
- If sand makes up a significant part of the soil or it is heaving, partial concreting must be done. To do this, you need to pour 2-10 cm of sand into the hole, compact it and cover it with concrete to a depth of approximately -10 cm from the soil line. The remaining hole is filled with a mixture of crushed stone and sand and compacted thoroughly.
- On strong soils, backfilling is carried out up to the soil line. If desired, you can concrete the top 10 cm of the pit.
Assembling the fence panel
To create fence sections, you should prepare transverse logs and a picket fence. The first ones are carried out individually along the length of the span. In the case of a fence 1.5 m high, there will be 2 crossbars on each section (if the height is significant, 3 or more transverse joists are installed to ensure the stability of the fence structure). The logs should be placed symmetrically with respect to the middle of the fence but no more than 20-30 cm from the top and bottom of the picket fence.
If the crossbars are wooden, all that remains is to lay the boards and strengthen them with nails or self-tapping screws. The picket fence is attached to the profile pipe using bolts - to do this, drill into the joists through holes. You can install the boards on the crossbars after attaching the latter to the supports - it’s up to you to decide how it will be more convenient.
Wooden cross members are mounted using bolted connections, but for this purpose to metal support pillars on required height you need to weld special ears. Lags from profile pipe installed by welding.
After installing the picket fence to the crossbars, the section is mounted on supports - and so on until the bitter end. The last thing you need to do is coat the wooden elements of the fence with varnish, stain or paint, and the metal ones - prime and paint.
