How to attach trims to interior doors yourself. Installing a door frame: tips on assembling the frame in different ways and installing it in a doorway with your own hands Cashing at 90 degrees

Buying new door, you need to think about the installation process. You can invite specialists, but if you want to save as much as possible, you can always do the installation yourself. Let's talk about the specifics of such work in detail.

Installation door frame- a critical stage. From correct installation The operation of the entire door unit depends.

The installation of the door frame requires special attention. The performance properties of any door depend on this. Let's consider different variants installation of the frame, taking into account the complete set of the door block and the material used for production.

In order for the installation of the door block to be successful, everything needs to be carefully thought through, measured, and selected. Examine the opening you plan to close beautiful facade. In old rooms, walls and openings do not have ideal lines. The same can be said about new houses. Measurements of the opening must be careful from all sides.

Depends on the accuracy of measurements right choice door frame and leaf.

If the door is not manufactured according to custom sizes, you must select ready-made option, which has certain standards. By taking measurements, you can understand what to do with the doorway, which should not differ much in size from the standard doorway. For example, with a portal width of 900 mm, 800 is possible. The remaining millimeters will be required for the door frame and technological gaps.

Having determined the size of the product, we select the door configuration. On the racks construction stores You can find three types of kit:

  • single leaf - you need to purchase the door frame yourself (usually wooden beam without decorative finishing), hinges, lock, extensions, platbands;
  • a leaf with a door frame made of the same material (solid wood, MDF), can be equipped with platbands;
  • a complete set of door block assembled at the factory - installation requires only strength and assistants to level the door.

The choice of product depends on the consumer. The longest and in a complicated way installing the frame is the purchase of the first version of the door, when all the elements of the block must be purchased and assembled yourself. Therefore, let's look at this option in more detail. After studying our instructions, you will be able to install any door without the involvement of unauthorized persons.

Installing a door frame from the first to the last step

Let's assume that the walls of the doorway are already prepared for installation work, the doors are selected according to the size of the opening. For clarity of the process, a separate canvas and timber for the box was chosen.

Installation of a door frame takes place in several stages, starting with preparing tools and sawing off excess length from the frame strips.

Let's prepare a place for everyone necessary elements. A flat floor covered with cardboard or oilcloth is suitable for this.

For installation we will prepare the following items:

  • canvas;
  • timber - 3 pcs.;
  • extensions if the wall is wider than the door frame;
  • platbands;
  • loops - 2 pcs. (for interior door), 3 pcs. (for input);
  • lock;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • dowels;
  • electric saw or hacksaw with fine teeth;
  • miter box, square, tape measure;
  • drill with different attachments and drills;
  • screwdriver with attachments;
  • hammer or mallet;
  • any building level;
  • polyurethane foam with or without a gun;
  • masking tape to avoid staining the surface or to secure some elements.

We have listed everything in general. Now let's look at the step-by-step installation of the door frame.

Preparing elements

  1. Unpack the door leaf and door frame elements (if they are included).
  2. Inspect the product and accessories for completeness and absence of defects. After installation, it will not be possible to return a defective door.
  3. Place the door panel aside, we will need it later.
  4. Lay out the timber for the box on the floor. If the parts for the frame are purchased separately, they must be adjusted to the size of the canvas and the opening.

This is where the process of assembling the box begins. There are several ways to assemble vertical and horizontal door frame pillars:

Assembly in groove

This method involves connecting elements with an overlap. A certain groove must be made in the vertical bar, allowing the vertical bar to be connected flush with the horizontal one.

One way to install a door frame is to assemble the elements into a groove.

Many factory models provide just this assembly option. You can also make a groove with your own hands if the racks are assembled from construction timber, not MDF blanks.

First, let's take measurements to cut the parts to the required length. We measure the doorway at several points. We take the smaller result as a basis, not forgetting to leave a distance for the polyurethane foam. It is also necessary to know the dimensions of the door leaf, adding gaps for the free movement of the door in the frame. 3–5 mm on each side is enough. Let's take a door leaf 800 mm wide and 2000 mm high as a basis. The door frame must have the following dimensions:

  • for a door with a threshold - 806x2006 mm;
  • without a threshold, we will take into account a larger gap for opening the door - 806x2010 mm.

The door to the bathroom and toilet is usually installed with a threshold.

Installation of an interior door with a threshold is required only for the bathroom and toilet.

The remaining openings do not require a threshold so that movement is free of obstacles.

How to correctly measure the opening and calculate the size of the vertical and horizontal strips can be seen in the video presented at the end of the article.

  1. In the upper part of the vertical posts we make recesses for installing a horizontal bar, which should stand upright. We calculate the length of the horizontal bar taking into account the thickness of the beam and the recess in it. If the width of the entire box must be 806 mm, the horizontal strip will be smaller. Let's assume that the beam has a thickness of 30 mm. We will make a 10 mm groove in each rack. So, 806-20=786 mm is the length of the horizontal beam installed in the groove.
  2. We mark the size of the groove on the vertical slats of the box, making an indent of 10 mm from the outer edge and 30 mm from the top end.
  3. Carefully remove the marked part of the timber. Do the same with the second stand.
  4. We check the connection of the elements and the correct size.
  5. We connect the elements with self-tapping screws, having previously drilled holes with a drill.

The first method of assembling the door frame is now complete.

The second method of assembling door frame elements.

This method has a slight difference in the cut rack elements.

  1. Measurements are carried out using the same method as in the above-described version of assembling the box into a groove. The only difference is the length of the horizontal bar. It should be the entire width, i.e. 806 mm, because the edges will be filed at 45 degrees.
  2. After the timber has been cut to the required length, it is necessary to make cuts at the required angle. To do this, take a miter box, which will become a template. If such a tool is not available, make the cut by eye.
  3. We connect the elements with self-tapping screws, driving them inside at an angle of 45 degrees.
  4. Check the dimensions again.

Perhaps this is the most easy way door frame.

Assembling the box at an angle of 90 degrees is the easiest and affordable way to assemble the box with your own hands.

For self-installation He fits better all options. No special skills or special tools are required here.

  1. Only the horizontal strip needs to be cut to a slightly smaller size, taking into account the thickness of the vertical posts. In our case it is 60 mm, i.e. 806-60 = 746 mm.
  2. Connect all the elements together using self-tapping screws. Use two on each side. Don't forget to drill holes to prevent the timber from cracking. Drive the screw caps inside the timber.

Choose any method of assembling the door frame you like.

  • installing only the box in the opening, and then hanging the canvas;
  • installation of the entire kit.

Usually the second option is used, because hanging the canvas after installing the box in the opening is quite difficult and can only be done by specialists.

Installation of fittings and door leaf into the frame

The hinges must be screwed to the assembled frame. The hinges may be different, but despite this, the installation of hinges is not much different:

  1. We make markings on the vertical post, taking into account the opening side of the door leaf. Step back 200 mm from the top edge and attach the hinge strip to the beam. Using a pencil, outline the outline along which we will make a notch to secure the loop. Make the same markings for the bottom loop.
  2. Using a chisel, chisel and hammer, remove the excess wood to create the desired groove.
  3. Try on the loop, if everything is fine, fasten it into the seat.
  4. We will do the same manipulations with the canvas.
  5. After installing the hinge, we lay the panel inside the door frame.
  6. We check for the presence of the necessary gaps, place cardboard so that the canvas does not move while installing the block in the opening.

The most crucial moment comes - installing the kit in the doorway.

Installing the box in the doorway

At this stage you need to call an assistant.

The stage of installing the box in the interior opening is the most difficult moment. Be patient, attentive, careful.

The door block is quite heavy, and the work must be done with maximum precision.

  1. Lift the product to a vertical position and move it to the opening.
  2. Install in the opening, moving it to the extreme point of the wall. If the width of the box beam is not enough to cover the entire wall, installation of door trims at this stage.
  3. Using any convenient level, we set door block into the opening. For fixation, take wedges, which can be removed after securing the box to the walls.
  4. Place spacers on all sides, adjusting the level of vertical and horizontal planes.
  5. After making sure that the door block is installed correctly, secure the frame to the wall with self-tapping screws. To do this, drill holes in the vertical posts and the wall. metal box It is better to attach it to anchors in pre-installed dowels.
  6. It is also necessary to secure the horizontal bar. It is enough to use two self-tapping screws for each rack. They will securely pull the door frame to the walls.
  7. Check the operation of the door leaf. It should not touch any rack.
  8. We move on to inserting the lock into the door. We have already talked about how to do this in one of our articles.
  9. Coming final stage installation of a door frame with a leaf - foaming all gaps. Do not rush to squeeze out a large amount of foam. It has the property of swelling, which can lead to deformation of the rack elements. Do this in small portions, moving from bottom to top. The foam should fill all gaps, providing thermal and noise insulation for any door. Before you start blowing foam, cover the uprights of the box with masking tape to prevent damage to the surface.
  10. After drying, remove any excess foam with a utility knife.
  11. All that remains is to install.

The installation of the door block is now complete. You can do all the work yourself, because it is not difficult if you have such a guide.

How much can you save by installing any door yourself?

Not all door manufacturers or sellers offer free installation. The price for installing a door frame and leaf sometimes reaches high levels. On average, prices for specialist services vary depending on the cost of the product and the complexity of the work. The figure can reach half the price of a door block. The most cheap door a complete set will cost at least 6,000 rubles. This means that installation will cost around 3,000 rubles. We took the average value for the installation service. The price can reach high levels. Therefore, the savings when installing a door frame with your own hands are significant. What if you bought not just one door, but all of them? You can calculate the result yourself.

Double door it is installed in the same way as a single-leaf one, requiring only more time and hanging two panels.

There are no difficulties. Using the installation example discussed in our article, you can install an MDF door frame with your own hands. It usually corresponds to the size of the selected product and there should be no problems.

Platbands are overhead profile strips that are intended for decorative framing of window or doorway. Wooden trims allow you to close any gaps that form between window frame and a wall. Door frames are accordingly designed to perform similar work, only the gaps are closed between the wall and the door frame. Use of platbands.
It will allow you to hide even significant construction defects that arose for a number of reasons - for example, after the “shrinkage” of the building or defects made during construction.
The shape of the platband can be almost any. But the most common forms of platbands are rounded, flat or figured (or, as they are also called, “carved” platbands, which are an exclusive material).
On the market today building materials a great variety of types of platbands made of any materials are provided - MDF platbands, veneered platbands, steel and aluminum platbands, PVC platbands. PVC platbands, by the way, are by far the most popular among buyers and the cheapest in price.
When choosing platbands Special attention it is necessary to pay attention to its quality of execution. In addition, all types of platbands are made to order. The cost is slightly higher than the market price - but the customer can be 100% sure of the quality of such platband and if any defect is discovered there will always be the opportunity to return it back. Since such masters value their reputation very much.
All types of platbands can be attached using screws, self-tapping screws, nails and special glue intended for this type of work. The installation of platbands must be done very carefully to avoid damage. If you are not sure that the work of installing the platband can be done yourself, then it is better to contact a specialist - a carpenter.
After the platbands are installed on windows or doors, they will give a finished look to the facade of the building or its interior decoration.
The trim for interior doors comes complete with the doors themselves, in some cases it comes separately, but is purchased in the same place as the doors. The color of the platband must completely match the color of the door leaf and door frame.
The casing consists of different materials mainly made of MDF and chipboard, as well as wood (solid or glued), covered with veneer, laminated film, varnish.
The casing comes in two types: semicircular and rectangular. The semicircular center is thicker than the edges; it narrows from the middle. Rectangular consists of right angles. The thickness of the middle and edges is the same. There are also patterned trims, as a rule, included in expensive interior doors. The minimum and main size (width) of the platband for interior doors in our time is 70 mm. Less common is a casing of 80 mm.
The trim on interior doors is cut in two ways: at 45 and 90 degrees. The main, more popular method of cutting is at 45 degrees, since this trim is used for inexpensive and medium-priced interior doors. Expensive doors usually come with a platband with a 90-degree cut. It is better to file the platband with professional tool- this is a miter saw, but you can also use a hand saw - a miter box and a hacksaw.
Cashing out an interior door is very long and painstaking work, since each platband stick is sawed individually. and you cannot allow the slightest error when cutting down the joining angle of the casing.
The installation of platbands helps to close the holes between the door frame and the wall, and they are also designed to decorate the openings. Platbands are divided into external and internal. External platbands look more massive. Installation of platbands occurs using pine or spruce boards.
External trims have various types of threads, as well as overhead parts. Threads come in relief and through types. It is done using jigsaws and drills different diameters, semicircular and flat type chisels.
Installation of the platband is carried out either to the floor or with a slight indentation of 15-20 cm. The empty space at the bottom is closed using a thick blank. This is necessary to protect the platband from rapid wear, and to give the opening beautiful view. Platbands come in smooth types and have selected moldings; they are distinguished by greater beauty. Door frames are painted in the color of the door, but they can be painted in other colors at the request of the customer.
Installation of platbands begins with determining the length. The casing is sawn down at a certain angle. The trim is attached to the prepared holes for nails. Installation of platbands should be carried out with the lower ends secured to the floor. To make repairs easier, you can also leave room for a large frame, called a bedside table. Installation of platbands should be done before the baseboard fastenings. Door frames are nailed to the frames with nails that have flattened heads.

How to install platbands: at an angle of 90 or 45 degrees?

Door trim is an important element in the appearance of the door. Platbands highlight and emphasize the door in the interior. Great importance depends on the angle at which they join: at an angle of 90 degrees or 45. In which cases one or another option is appropriate, we will analyze it in this short material.

The standard width of the platbands is 70 mm, but they can be wider. The shapes are divided into rounded, flat and embossed. According to the mounting method, conventional and telescopic.

Any platbands are joined at an angle of 45 degrees.
This classic version connecting the platbands to each other. For classic doors with curved lines in the design, this is the only option. With this method of installing platbands, cutting them at a given angle plays a very important role. The cut should be as smooth and clear as possible. If the walls are curved, then an inclination or offset in the cut will be required. In general, in the end there should be a perfect joint. Otherwise, gaps and chips will be very noticeable, especially on light-colored doors.

Only flat platbands are joined at right angles.
To install platbands at 90 degrees, only platbands specially made for this purpose are suitable. This means that the shapes of the joints of the platbands must be the same. For rounded or figured platbands, the shape of the cut differs from the shape of the side part. Moreover, even flat platbands have slight rounding at the corners. Therefore, the top casing should be thinner than the side ones so that it is slightly recessed. Otherwise, the end of the platbands will be exposed.
The door frames are installed at right angles in modern style with straight lines. The right angle of the platbands seems to complement the right angles of the door structure.

Recently, manufacturers have begun to produce flat trim designed only for installation at right angles. This means that in a set of 5 trims for one door, one will be thinner than the rest. Installers need to be careful not to cut the thick side casing in half.

The upper casing is also installed at a right horizontal angle. This is how capitals and cornices are installed - decorative trims.

Do-it-yourself installation of platbands - YouTube

At what stage of the renovation should you start installing trims... trims on doors, trims at 45 degrees, do-it-yourself trims,... interior doors, installation...

Doors are important detail any room, since they provide protection from unwanted penetration, retain heat and sound insulation. In order for the design to cope well with its functions and last longer, you need to know how to assemble the door frame if you cannot turn to professionals for help.

To understand exactly how a door is assembled, it is necessary to study its structure and components. These include:

  • lintel - a “ceiling” strip located on top of the structure;
  • loop beam - side part, loops cut into it;
  • the recessed part is the opposite of the hinge part, it closes with the door when closing, and the counter side of the lock is installed into it;
  • threshold - a beam located below.

Necessary tool

In order to assemble the door frame with your own hands quickly, you need to prepare in advance the tools that will be needed during the work process. In addition to the components of the box, the following accessories are needed:

  • a simple pencil, tape measure, square and level;
  • electric jigsaw or circular saw;
  • perforator;
  • drill or bit;
  • screwdriver;
  • hacksaw;
  • screws, mounting foam, fastenings;
  • necessary accessories.

How to take measurements

To collect high-quality construction, it is important, otherwise the door will not fit into the frame. There are several rules for taking measurements at home:

  1. First of all, the doorway is measured; the external parameters of the frame should exceed it by 70 mm. As for the internal parameters, between door leaf and the edge of the box should maintain a 3 mm gap around the perimeter.
  2. There is a separate rule for the gap located below; its height can be from 10 to 15 mm. This is necessary to ensure air circulation in the room, which is especially important for closed rooms like a bathroom or storage room. When installing sliding doors, it is necessary to take into account that profiles will be installed.
  3. Often, when building baths, owners do not big gap at the bottom of the door, this is acceptable, but, in this case, it is necessary to carefully measure the door threshold with a level in the corners.

These parameters are mandatory; if a discrepancy is found, the doorway must be expanded or reduced. It is easier to work with artificial openings made of plasterboard.

Assembly methods

The door frame installation guide depends on how it is assembled. Designs come with or without a threshold and with different nuances securing parts.

How to assemble a door frame at 45° and without a threshold

Typically, MDF products are installed according to this scheme. detailed instructions to make a box using this method:

  1. To eliminate unevenness, you need to trim the box blanks.
  2. The loop and false beams are sawn in the upper part, at 45 degrees inward. For work, it is better to use tools with fine teeth or a hacksaw, this will help avoid damage to the finish. When working with products made from eco-veneer or laminated MDF, it is best to saw from the reverse side, so that possible cracks remain on it.
  3. After processing the side parts of the box, you can proceed to sawing the lintel. It is sawn on both sides at 45 degrees inward. It is important to measure everything carefully so that when assembled the parts form a right angle. Do not forget that a gap of 3 mm must be maintained. Measurements can be made either using a tape measure or by placing the beam directly against the doorway, making notes with a pencil.
  4. Next, you need to adjust the loop and trim beam in height, from the bottom, to the beginning of the cut corner. If there is no threshold, it is enough to add two gaps to the height of the door, 3 mm + 10-15 mm. After hanging, the door should close tightly enough, without obstacles to opening, and not touch the floor.
  5. Once all the components are sawed down, you need to move on to assembling the parts. It is easier to work by placing them on the floor. For safety, it is better to use a small diameter drill. Self-tapping screws must be for wood; they are also screwed at an angle of 45 degrees. When fastening the parts, they must be pressed tightly against each other, since the screws stretch the parts.
  6. After assembly, the structure must be tried on in the doorway; if the calculations are accurate, it will fit into it without any problems.

The measurements must be checked several times. If a mistake is made and the door frame turns out to be too small for the door leaf, you will have to purchase new material.

How to assemble a door frame with a 90 joint yourself

The simplest assembly option, which a beginner can handle, is also often used when working with wood-fiber materials. How to assemble with a 90 degree joint step by step:

  1. The side beams are adjusted to the height of the doorway, taking into account all the gaps. They will reach to the very top of the doorway.
  2. The upper part is fixed between the loop and the false part, so it must be shortened by as much as the width of both side beams. After connecting, the three parts should fit snugly into the width of the opening.
  3. After preparing the components, you can proceed to assembly. Holes for self-tapping screws are made in advance to avoid cracks in the wood; they should enter from the sides, at an angle of 90 degrees.

Assembling a door frame with a threshold

Structures equipped with thresholds are usually installed at the entrance to houses, as they retain heat and make the box more durable. Even though a new part is being added, assembling the parts is not difficult. The first steps are identical to those performed during the installation of boxes without a threshold. The lintel and side beams can be installed at angles of 45 and 90 degrees. The threshold is always set at a right angle. Step-by-step instruction for assembling a box with a threshold:

  1. The threshold beam must be sawn exactly at a right angle, observing the width, from one side part to the second, you can also focus on the formula: door width + 6 mm gap. To correctly determine the height of the threshold, it is necessary to place the structure in the door leaf.
  2. Next, you need to carefully cut down the thrust quarter on the false and hinged beams, to the height of the bottom board, to securely fasten the threshold. Measurements must be taken accurately, otherwise you can simply ruin the material.
  3. Once the components are prepared, you can proceed to connecting them, also tightening them tightly so that the parts do not fall apart. When working with entrance doors It is better to use galvanized screws.

Door frame tenon connection

A less common method of connecting box parts can be done without using self-tapping screws, however, to ensure strength it is best to use galvanized nails or special assembly adhesive.

The principle of this method is that at the junction of the components, it does not matter whether they are placed at a right angle or at 45 degrees, they are cut out tenon joints. One of the parts has the connection itself (tenks), and the second has grooves machined for it, into which it is tightly inserted.

Installing a frame in a doorway

This step is best performed with an assistant, since the door block can be heavy, especially if the door is used with an internal filler in the form of a slab, which can lead to difficulties in operation. The structure is installed in the doorway in several stages:

  1. The structure is inserted into the opening and secured in it using wedges. Then, its position is completely aligned so that it stands perfectly relative to the horizontal and vertical axes. Once the exact position is determined, holes for dowels are drilled in the opening itself and the frame.
  2. When the structure is tightly fixed in the opening, you can begin preparing the door for hanging. First of all, the hinges are screwed to it, and the second part is fixed to the hinge beam. The main thing is not to make a mistake with the height, since the door will not be level. If everything is done correctly, after you hang the canvas, all the gaps will be respected.
  3. Then, the box is fixed; this can be done using polyurethane foam; it is also used when filling the gaps allowed between the beam and the opening.
  4. As soon as the work is completed, you can proceed to installing telescopic or simple platbands, casings and other accessories.

Errors during installation and assembly of the door frame

Not everyone can produce correctly without making mistakes. The most common of them:

  1. Incorrectly selected tools and screws, which can damage materials or make the structure fragile. For example, doors made of fiberboard have a fibrous structure and a different density, unlike PVC, which means that different fasteners must be used.
  2. Insufficient vertical alignment of the door can cause the door to open or close on its own.
  3. Inattention when observing the direction of opening doors.
  4. While working with polyurethane foam It is important to consider that it tends to expand; if you apply too much, the box may bend.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions to experienced installers; only an experienced installer can give good advice and warn against possible errors. If the steps are performed incorrectly, you have to purchase new material, which is not profitable and takes a lot of time.

Platband is a door element that performs decorative function, covering the seam between the doorway and the frame. The appearance of the door depends on the quality of its installation, so you need to approach this process responsibly.

Types of platbands

Platbands differ depending on the material from which they are made. They can be made from:

  • wood;
  • plastic;
  • metal

Each of the materials used has its own characteristics. Metal platbands are made of aluminum or steel.

Plastic ones have a wide choice color solutions. They are cheap and can be installed using liquid nails. Plastic cash is flexible, so it is successfully used on uneven walls.

MDF trims have their own nuances when fastening. When using nails, you need to do not under them through holes so as not to damage the material during the nailing process.

The shape of the platbands can be:

  • flat;
  • curly;
  • rounded.

Flat and rounded ones can be purchased at any store. Figured ones are usually made to order.

Depending on the installation method, the following types are distinguished:

Mounting methods

Attaching platbands with your own hands can be done in two ways:

How to install platbands depends on their type and material of manufacture. So, telescopic ones are attached only to liquid nails. You can install the rest in one or another way.

Installation features

Installation of cashing is carried out after installing the door and finishing the walls of the room, but before installing the baseboard. If the box is placed correctly and is flush with the wall, then nailing the platbands with your own hands will not be difficult.

If cashing needs to be attached on both sides of the door, then start with the one where the hinges are located. In this case, when fastening, one feature must be taken into account. It is impossible to install the platband flush with the door frame, because the fittings will interfere. Therefore, an indent of several millimeters is made from the corner of the door frame. This distance is maintained when attaching the horizontal and second vertical strips. Installation of platbands on doors with reverse side produced without this indentation.

Joining of platbands

The vertical and horizontal strips must fit together correctly to ensure attractiveness. doorway. The platbands can be secured by joining them together at an angle of 90 or 45 degrees.

Cutting a corner at 90 degrees is used when the shape of the interior doors is flat, that is, it is a rectangle in cut. It doesn’t matter whether the joining seams are located horizontally or vertically. After sawing, the sections are processed acrylic paint or varnish. The 90 degree angle is also suitable when decorating with a capital - a decorative element that gives a luxurious look to the door.

An angle of 45 degrees is used when installing figured and rounded platbands. It ensures perfect joining of horizontal and vertical planks. You can make such an angle using a miter box, a jigsaw or an ordinary hacksaw, drawing a cut line.

Tools for work

Installation of platbands is carried out using the following tools:

  • pencil, square;
  • roulette;
  • miter box;
  • hammer, nails.

Instead of a miter box, a jigsaw or hacksaw is quite suitable.

Installation process

Do-it-yourself installation of platbands begins with measurements. It is necessary to correctly and accurately measure the height of the opening. This can be done with a tape measure, then transfer the measurement to the bar or apply the cash to the opening and actually mark the place where you need to make a cut on the inside of the corner. External corner is defined as follows. TO inside add the width of the casing and mark a place on its outer side.

Do the same with the second vertical bar. You should not blindly transfer the opening height values obtained when measuring the first casing. The distance from the floor to the top of the opening may vary.

In order to correctly mark a horizontal bar with your own hands, the vertical ones are attached to two nails: one is nailed near the floor, and the second is at a distance of a meter from the first. The vertical strip is pre-prepared by cutting at 45 degrees on one side. It is applied to the installation site, placed behind a vertical bar where there is no saw cut, and in fact the angle that needs to be made is marked.

After marking and filing the corners of the plank, you need to nail it with nails or glue it around the perimeter of the doorway. A fastening step of 15-20 centimeters is used for doors that are often used. For balcony or storage doors, 50 centimeters between nails will be enough.

Elimination of defects

If this is your first time installing platbands with your own hands, then not everything may be perfect. The cracks formed as a result of improper sawing can be hidden with wood putty or a wax corrector, selecting the required color.

Telescopic trims

Telescopic trims are installed on interior doors using special slots and grooves, which are provided at the manufacturing stage. Their peculiarity is that fastening is possible only on a perfectly flat surface. Otherwise, gaps will be noticeable, and the appearance of the doorway will leave much to be desired.

Do-it-yourself installation of telescopic trims is possible on doors with different opening widths. This is achieved due to the fact that the slot can not be completely inserted into the groove if the opening is larger than intended standard size. If it is smaller, then the protrusion can be filed down.

For openings with very thick walls, the width of the uncovered area is hidden using telescopic extensions.

Installing trim on interior doors with your own hands is not a complicated process. Knowing the installation process and types of cashing, you can choose suitable option in each specific case.

Platbands play a decorative role, giving the doorway a finished look. The planks differ in the material of manufacture, shape, color, as well as the method of fastening. Installation of interior door frames is carried out after finishing the walls, but before laying the floor plinth.

To correctly install platbands on interior doors, you first need to select the appropriate elements. First of all, pay attention to the material of manufacture:

  • Products made from natural wood are considered universal. The strips can be painted to match the color of the doors. Fasten wooden elements nails without heads. If the walls are well aligned with the door frame, the platbands are placed on an adhesive composition - “liquid nails”.
  • Laminated planks of MDF appearance remind natural wood. Decorative elements match the color of the door. The platbands are secured with adhesive or nails without heads, having previously drilled blind holes.

  • PVC cashing is more suitable plastic doors. The planks are glued or mounted on the mounting profile.

  • There are also aluminum and steel cash registers, but they are usually installed on entrance doors.

Most planks are given a standard flat, rounded or shaped form.

By fastening method Cashing can be invoice or telescopic. The first type of elements is fixed directly to the door frame. The second one is equipped with mounting grooves.

Tools for work

To install door frames was successful, the instrument is prepared in advance.

  • To perform accurate markings you will need pencil, tape measure, plumb line, square and level.
  • It will help to cut the workpiece perfectly straight at an angle of 45 degrees. miter box O.
  • It's better to cut the slats miter saw . If it is missing, you can use hacksaw for metal. The fine teeth of the blade will not leave chips on the product.
  • Used for driving nails or tapping cash elements. hammer.

How to cut off the platband?

After marking the angle of the cut and the length of the workpiece, the trim is cut with a miter saw. A special feature of the power tool is adjustable table, which is installed under the right angle. In order to saw off the trim on the door correctly and without chips, side faces the workpieces are pressed tightly against the stops on the bed. If a gap occurs, the cut will be uneven.

If you don’t have a power saw, a miter box will help you cut the edge of the casing at 45 degrees. It is better to buy a quality tool. The cheap one made of plastic has deformed thrust elements that distort the size of the angle. A hacksaw for cutting is used with fine teeth that do not leave chips.

How to attach platbands to interior doors?

Simple fastening of flat platbands is performed at an angle of 90 degrees. The vertical planks fit tightly at the top with the horizontal one. When installing wooden or MDF elements complex shape The ends are cut at an angle of 45 degrees. There are 4 methods of fixing the planks.

Using finishing nails

Wooden or MDF door casing is easier to nail with nails with flat heads. The fastening is reliable, and if necessary, the planks can be easily dismantled. You can use nails of a different configuration, and so that the heads are not visible, they are removed with side cutters. The length of finishing nails for platbands is about 40 mm. The size can be calculated individually, taking into account the thickness of the cash. Having passed through the bar, the nail must enter at least 20 mm into the body of the door frame.

Attachment points are marked on the workpieces, maintaining the same distance. Typically, a pitch of 500 mm is maintained. Using the markings, drill through holes with a diameter corresponding to the thickness of the nail. After joining to the door frame, the platbands are carefully nailed. For aesthetics, hats are painted over with a wax pencil.

Liquid nails

To attach cash to interior doors without nails, use an adhesive - liquid nails. The advantage of this method is that there is no visible fixation site. The downside is the weak fastening, as well as inconvenience during dismantling. In addition, liquid nails are only applicable if the adjacent walls are perfectly level.

The door frames are installed after sawing and fitting of the blanks. The plank is lubricated on the back side with adhesive and pressed tightly against the wall. To glue platbands for interior doors, it is enough to hold each strip pressed for no more than a minute.

Fastening with self-tapping screws

The method is similar to fastening with finishing nails, only instead of them, wood screws 25 mm long and 6 mm thick are used. Places for holes are marked on the workpiece in increments of 500 mm. A drill of the same diameter or with a margin of 1 mm is used.

It is advisable to recess the hats into the body of the plank. On the front side of the workpiece, the hole is expanded with a drill of a larger diameter to a depth of 1–1.5 mm. Now all that remains is to attach the trim to the interior doors with self-tapping screws. You need to tighten the hardware so that the head fits into the recess. The place of fixation is painted over with a wax pencil.

Attachment by beaks

The method does not require the use of screws, nails or adhesive. The cash box is equipped with a beak-shaped lock. The connecting pin is inserted into the recess on the box and pressed until it clicks.

The advantage of this method is ease of installation and invisibility of the mounting location. Negative point is the delamination of MDF platbands during dismantling. Over time, spontaneous destruction of the joints may occur, which requires additional treatment of the joints with glue.

How to install platbands on interior doors?

When installing interior doors with your own hands, glue, nails or self-tapping screws are used to fasten trim made of wood or MDF. However, the evenness of the walls and the shape of the planks are taken into account. There should be no gaps at the joints. If the walls adjacent to the end of the door frame are uneven, then it is better to refuse gluing.

Installation of cashing begins from the side where the interior door opens. This is due to the presence of hinges that prevent the strip from being fixed flush with the box element. You will need to make the same indentation, and on all three sides for symmetry. Where there are no loops, there is no need for mandatory indentation.

If the door is in a corner, installation is carried out using the letter G. If desired, you can saw the element vertically and use a narrow strip.

The platband on one side is installed when the slopes on the other are decorated with tiles or other wall materials.

Docking at an angle of 45

When it is necessary to install trim on the door at an angle of 45 degrees, use a miter box for marking. This joining of elements is usually used for shaped and rounded planks. If there is no miter box, the markings can be made with a protractor.

The installation procedure consists of the following steps:

Docking at an angle of 90

The platbands are fastened at 90 degrees with horizontal or vertical seams. The choice depends on the preference of the owner. When installing a door cashing with your own hands at a right angle, only flat-shaped blanks are used. The cut areas are treated with varnish or acrylic-based paint.

To install platbands on interior doors with imitation lintels, the upper element is extended. The joining is obtained at an angle of 90 degrees with horizontal seams. Upper bar protrudes beyond the vertical.

Telescopic trims

Fastened to interior doors without nails telescopic trims. Decorative elements are equipped with a special lock consisting of a slot and groove. Fixation occurs at the end of the box. The main requirement for proper installation of platbands is the presence of a protrusion. It forms when the door frame is already thick interior partition. The adjacent walls must be level, otherwise you will get an unsightly gap.

Installation instructions for plastic trims

Glue is used very rarely, the connection is unreliable. Basically, plastic trims are installed on interior doors using a profile. This installation method consists of the following steps:

If you place plastic cash on a wall lined with clapboard, then along the perimeter doorway fix wooden slats, and the profile is already attached to it.

Installation is possible using special nipples and screws.

Elimination of defects

An unpleasant moment is the visibility of the nail head or screw. They are slightly recessed into the body of the cash, and sealed on top with sealant. desired color. You can use a wax corrector.

On uneven walls due to curvature wooden planks the joints are coming apart. During installation, the joining elements are additionally connected with a finishing nail.

Wide strips from 100 to 120 mm help to hide large defects around the door frame.

How to join the plinth with the platband?

There is no need to cut the door trim; it should reach the floor. Otherwise it won't look very nice.

The plinth itself is adjusted, the method depends on the material.

  • The plastic ones have decorative plugs, with the help of which you can neatly and beautifully join the end of the plinth and the door casing.

  • A cut is made on the wooden one at 45 degrees to align the adjacent side of the plinth with the thickness of the door casing.

Dismantling

Removal of platbands is usually required when cash is replaced. There is no need to worry about their safety, but the work is done carefully. Picking up an ax with sharp blade and a hammer, begin dismantling:

The procedure must be carried out carefully so that no dents are left on the door frame. Instead of an axe, homemade sharpened strips of durable metal or other similar devices are suitable.
