Penoplex packaging. Penoplex insulation - technical characteristics, properties and areas of their application. Where Penoplex should not be used

Thermal insulation materials are building products designed to protect the enclosing structures (walls, floors, roofs, foundations) of buildings and structures from heat loss, in other words, to reduce the thermal conductivity coefficient.

Today we will talk about penoplex (penoplex) - one of the types of thermal insulation in modern construction.

What is penoplex insulation?

Penoplex slabs are extruded polystyrene foam, produced in the form of slabs. The structure of penoplex is similar to the structure of conventional polystyrene foam, however, penoplex has a number of advantages - primarily higher density and strength.

Technical characteristics of penoplex:

  • low thermal conductivity (thermal conductivity coefficient 0.03 W/m·ºK);
  • high strength (both compressive and bending);
  • low water absorption (no more than 0.2 - 0.4% by volume in 24 hours);
  • low vapor permeability (vapor permeability coefficient 0.007-0.008 mg/m h Pa);
  • durability over 50 years;
  • combustion resistance;
  • environmentally friendly (non-toxic, non-rotting);
  • wide operating temperature range (-50…+75ºС).

Extruded polystyrene foam is available in several types (depending on density and area of application) in the form of slabs of standard sizes, which are not difficult to install and can be easily cut to the desired size.

The table shows the estimated cost PENOPLEX COMFORT, suitable for insulating foundations, walls, floors in cottages and apartments. The price depends on the quantity of material purchased - the larger the volume, the lower the price, and of course on the region of residence.

"Penoplex WALL"(density 25-32 kg/m3) – intended for insulation of external and interior walls, partitions, plinths for effective heat conservation and savings on heating costs for building premises. These slabs are also used in the construction of buildings when constructing walls using “well masonry”.

In case of insulation of external walls with penoplex, a plaster system can be made on top of the insulation using a mesh, or it can be lined with any façade cladding material (siding, tiles, lining).

"Penoplex FOUNDATION"(density 29-33 kg/m 3) – used in construction basements, construction of foundations, insulation of septic tanks. Penoplex FOUNDATION slabs have increased strength and a practically zero water absorption coefficient.

"Penoplex ROOFING"(density 28-33 kg/m 3) specially produced slabs for insulation of flat and pitched roofs. Lightweight, rigid, moisture-resistant material with excellent thermal insulation properties.

"Penoplex 45"(density 35-47 kg/m 3) - insulation of road surfaces, in particular runways, to prevent them from frost heaving of the soil and destruction of the top layer of the road surface. It is also widely used for insulating roofs in use, on which there are pedestrian areas and various areas, including parking lots.

"Penoplex COMFORT"(density 25-35 kg/m3) - a brand of thermal insulation boards used in housing construction (private residential buildings, insulation of apartment walls, as well as loggias and balconies).

Penoplex installation

Insulation of external walls with penoplex is carried out in several stages.

  1. Preparatory work consist in preparing the walls for insulation, namely cleaning them from dirt, dust, old finishing materials, paint coatings. It is recommended to level the walls using plaster mixture(in case of obvious unevenness of the walls) and treat with an antifungal compound.
  2. Gluing Penoplex boards carried out using special adhesive compositions on a dry wall surface. The adhesive is applied directly to the insulating board.
  3. Mechanical fastening made using dowels, based on 4 pcs. us 2 , after gluing the boards with glue. Along the perimeter of the windows, doorways and at the corners of the building the number of dowels increases - 6-8 pcs. us 2 .
  4. A plaster composition is applied over the insulation boards . For better adhesion of the plaster to the insulation, it is recommended to create roughness on the surface of the slabs using a carriage brush. A reinforcing polymer mesh is “recessed” into the first plaster layer. Next, a second layer of plaster is applied, after which dries, the walls are painted in the desired color.
  5. Instead of plaster, it is possible to finish the walls siding, wood, as well as application mounted systems for which a frame is pre-arranged.

If it is impossible to insulate from the outside, then, if necessary, insulate the walls from the inside. The work is carried out in a similar way, but foil is installed on top of the penoplex. polyethylene film as a vapor barrier, then gypsum plasterboard sheets are attached, onto which wallpaper can later be glued. The lathing for hanging drywall is attached with dowels to the wall through the insulation.

Work on insulation of balconies and loggias is carried out in the same way.. The joints between the plates are taped. After installing a vapor barrier with PE foil film, we also glue the joints with tape - we create a kind of thermos.

If for finishing If you decide to use drywall, then you need to choose moisture-resistant gypsum board sheets. In addition to the walls, it is also necessary to insulate the loggia floor.

Thermal insulation of roofsproduced either at the construction stage or during the reconstruction process, for example, when converting a cold attic into a living space.

  1. roofing material
  2. sheathing
  3. 3vapor-permeable moisture-resistant membrane
  4. penoplex insulation
  5. interior lining
  6. truss structure

In the first case, the insulation is laid on top of the rafters in a checkerboard pattern. A vapor-permeable membrane is spread over the penoplex. Expanded polystyrene is fixed with longitudinal slats with a thickness of at least 40 mm to ensure ventilation between the insulation and roofing material, in increments of 300 mm.

Penoplex compared to its analogue - polystyrene foam - has a higher cost, but significantly exceeds it in strength. It is ideal for plastering systems.

If you are still in doubt about which material to choose for insulating the structures of your home, then read consumer reviews, perhaps this will help you decide.

For a comfortable stay in cold period When building a house, you need to take care of its high-quality thermal insulation. There are a huge number of insulation materials on the market, varying in characteristics and cost. The most effective of them is penoplex. The technical characteristics, types and costs of this material from different manufacturers are described in this article.

What is penoplex: types

Penoplex (or erudite polystyrene foam) was invented in the USA more than 50 years ago. He immediately gained trust among buyers for his low and cost. During production, granules are pressed under pressure and high temperature, while a special catalytic substance is used for foaming. Next, the mass is squeezed into molds, and after some time the cells are filled with air. Thanks to this process, the porosity is uniform, and the resulting substance is strong and light.

Currently, there are three types of penoplex:

  1. Penoplex 31 Standard. It has poor resistance to compression, so it is mainly used for. However, in some cases (when the load is not too high) they are used for insulation, and much more.

  2. Penoplex 35. The most popular type of this material is currently due to the presence of a flame retardant in its composition - a substance that improves. Therefore, in the construction of buildings in most cases (for floors, walls, roofs, etc.) it is used. For example, penoplex 50 mm class 35 - perfect solution for insulation, the use of 30 mm penoplex is more rational for walls and.

  3. Penoplex 45. The most durable of the presented types. Due to its high density, such insulation can withstand high loads, therefore it is even used in road construction to prevent swelling during freezing. After all, in warm period year, some types of soil under the road actively absorb water, but in winter this can cause it to crack road surface. And if you use insulation, freezing will be reduced to a minimum or will not occur at all.

Thus, during construction it is necessary to choose the right type of material to avoid subsidence of the building and save Money(if the load is light, you can choose Penoplex 31 Standard).

Penoplex 35 is divided into four types according to its intended purpose:

  • Penoplex Comfort.
  • Penoplex Foundation.
  • Peroplex Roofing.
  • Penoplex Wall.

Each of them contains a flame retardant, but some specifications There are 35 different types of penoplex, so let’s look at them in more detail.

Penoplex Comfort: technical characteristics

Penoplex Comfort is the most versatile insulation of all the types presented. It is suitable for foundations, walls, and... It was during the production of this type that L-shaped joints of plates were first tested, which reliably seal the joints and therefore are now used in most cases.

This material has the following technical characteristics:

  • Thermal conductivity of this material is about 0.03 W/m*℃. Best thermal conductivity among all insulating materials achieved thanks to the fine-mesh structure (0.1-0.2 mm).
  • Vapor permeability– 0.013 Mg/(m*h*Pa). This indicator is practically zero, so the water absorption of this erudite polystyrene foam is almost completely eliminated.
  • Flammability class– G4 (highly flammable). Despite the high degree of fire hazard, spontaneous combustion of this material is impossible, and its smoldering can be extinguished quickly.
  • High strength. The material can withstand a load of 20 tons per 1 m2.
  • Density of Penoplex. Comfort is in the range of 25-35 kg/m3. It depends on the thickness and purpose of the product.
  • Record durability– 60-90 years even in harsh conditions ( high humidity and low temperatures).
  • Wide range of sizes. The size of a standard slab is 1200x600, but the thickness can vary from 20 to 100 mm. Each type is suitable for certain purposes, for example, the technical characteristics of Penoplex Comfort 50 mm allow it to be used for insulating the foundation.
  • Wide operating temperature range-50÷+75℃.

Important! Due to the high flammability of this material, it is not recommended to use it in production premises where open fire may occur.

Penoplex Foundation: technical characteristics, features

The main scope of application of Penoplex Foundation 50 mm is insulation of any buildings and structures. Due to its high resistance to moisture, heavy loads, and the ability long years do not change its original characteristics, this material reliably protects the building from groundwater and does not sag during prolonged use.

Installation of a foundation is a long and labor-intensive process; the use of Penoplex Foundation allows it to be simplified and speeded up, since such slabs are installed in a matter of minutes. In addition, the following technical characteristics of penoplexageo are highlighted:

  • Material Density 29-33 kg/m³. For this type of penoplex, this indicator is quite important, since the compressive strength depends on it;
  • Compressive strength at 10% linear load, not less than 0.27 (2.7; 27) MPa (kgf/cm2; t/m2);
  • Static bending strength not less than 0.4 MPa;
  • Water absorption in 24 hours no more than 0.4% of the total volume;
  • Water absorption in 28 days- 0.5% of volume;
  • Fire resistance– class G4;
  • Coefficient of thermal conductivity at normal conditions(25℃) - 0.030 W/(m*K);
  • under operating conditions “A” 0.031 W/(m*K);
  • Calculated thermal conductivity coefficient under operating conditions “B” 0.032 W/(m*°K);
  • Operating temperature range- 50÷+75°С.

Features of Penoplex Roofing: technical characteristics, operating conditions

- part of the building that is constantly exposed to influences environment. Therefore, all its layers, including insulation, must meet high requirements for strength and moisture resistance. Penoplex Roofing – the best choice in terms of price-quality ratio.

All technical characteristics of this material are identical to Penoplex Foundation. The only exception is the compressive strength coefficient (0.25 MPa), it is slightly lower because the roof does not experience the same loads as the foundation. Therefore, by reducing this indicator, the cost of the material is slightly reduced.

The main feature of Penoplex Roofing is the ability not only to retain heat indoors during the cold season, but also to protect it from exposure sun rays in summer. In this way, a comfortable microclimate in the house will be maintained all year round.

Another advantageous difference from other insulating materials is the high index, thanks to which birds and branches hanging over the roof will not interfere with your comfortable living.

Penoplex Wall: purpose and characteristics

The best solution for this is penoplex. The price of Penoplex Wall is lower than that of other types of this material, since its strength is slightly lower - 0.2 ÷ 0.25 MPa. However, this does not prevent it from being used in following conditions:

  1. (including sandwich panels and enclosing structures of block houses).
  2. Insulation of the external base of the house.
  3. Thermal insulation internal partitions(for example, in the basement).

The main feature of this material is the possibility of its use in multilayer decorative finishing. Thanks to its special properties, it is able to withstand loads from, lining, and so on. In addition, due to minimal water absorption, any wet solutions can be used.

Extruded polystyrene foam: technical characteristics and price

Extruded polystyrene foam has gained its popularity among builders around the world due to its special quality achieved through a unique production process.

Technical characteristics of the technoplex:

  • Steam and waterproof.
  • Environmental friendliness.
  • Durability.
  • High compressive strength due to a smooth cellular structure (for example, the technical characteristics of 50 mm penoplex allow it to withstand maximum loads under almost any atmospheric conditions).
  • Light weight.
  • Low thermal conductivity.
  • Easy to install.
  • Biological stability.
  • Almost complete absence of chemical reactions.
  • Flammability.

The ability to repel moisture is an important indicator for all thermal insulation materials. Extruded polystyrene foam has the highest water resistance rating. They even conducted an experimental study with this material: they placed it in water for 10 days. When the period came to an end, water appeared only in the outer cells, which were damaged during transportation or cutting; not a drop got inside the material. In addition, the vapor permeability indicator is also high, it can be compared with the level of roofing felt.

Interesting! Many argue that the building envelope must breathe, that is, all layers of walls, ceiling and floor must allow air (and therefore steam) to pass through. However, heat is also lost with air, which is unacceptable for a thermal insulation material. For ventilation, you should equip a high-quality ventilation system, and not create air movement inside the walls.

In the production of this material, freons are used as a catalyst, which are absolutely safe for the environment and are completely replaced by air during manufacturing. That's why environmental Safety this material is at the highest level.

Manufacturers of penoplex claim that the service life of these products is at least 50 years. Moreover, experiments have revealed that extruded polystyrene foam is able to withstand temperature changes and numerous freezing conditions without losing its original characteristics, so it can be used in any region of the country.

Thermal conductivity – main characteristic insulation. Penoplex has the lowest possible performance compared to other insulation materials. Moreover, depending on the percentage of moisture content in the material, it changes slightly. Therefore, extruded polystyrene foam is perfect for any surface, including the roof, where moisture penetration under it is quite high.

Extruded polystyrene foam is not only resistant to moisture, it does not react with most chemicals (for example, salts, alkalis, alcohols). However, there are also exceptions; some compounds can destroy the structure of a given material and even completely dissolve it (for example, hydrocarbons, ethers, oil paints). In addition, due to the absence of a biological component, this material does not attract microorganisms, so rotting is completely excluded. However, they can ruin it by making tunnels in it.

Plates of this material are lightweight, so they can be easily installed without the use of any special devices. Plus, they are easy to cut with a regular knife, so anyone can handle the installation.

The only obvious drawback of this material is flammability. Depending on the type and presence of fire retardants, it belongs to different classes of fire hazard. But in general we can say that this material is not resistant to open sources of fire. However, penoplex does not burn, but only melts, and if the fire is extinguished immediately, there will not even be residual smoldering.

Penoplex sheet dimensions

The dimensions of penoplex slabs are standard - 1200 × 600 mm. They differ only in thickness, on which, for ease of use, the number of pieces in the package depends. Penoplex comes in thicknesses from 20 to 100 mm. Thus, “Comfort” type slabs are supplied from 4 (with a thickness of 20 mm) to 18 pieces per package (with a thickness of 100 mm).

The most common sizes for Penoplex Foundation are 50 and 80 mm. They are supplied in 8 and 5 pieces respectively. This determines how many m2 are in the package (50 mm Penoplex Foundation has a total area of 5.76 m2).

Penoplex Comfort 50 is one of the new insulation materials that recently appeared on the market building materials. A feature of this variety is ease of use, as well as cost-effectiveness and high quality. The material is based on extruded polystyrene foam. The same raw materials are used in the production of foam plastic. However, thanks new technology, performance characteristics Penoplex Comfort 50 are considered significantly improved.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing process involves the processing of polystyrene granules under conditions of high temperature and pressure. In this case, a catalyst is used, represented by a foaming component, the composition of which assumes the presence of freon and carbon dioxide. Thanks to these substances, the mass turns out to be very fluffy. It passes through an extrusion unit, after which the freon evaporates. Accordingly, air remains in the cells.

This technology provides penoplex Comfort 50 with a microporous structure, reliability and strength. All cells, the size of which ranges from 0.1–0.2 mm, are evenly distributed.

Specifications

This insulation has a certificate of conformity, which indicates all the main properties:

Separately, it is worth mentioning the dimensions of the slabs. They are standard. So, the width is 600 mm, the length is 1200 mm, and the thickness ranges from 20–100 mm.

Advantages

All Penoplex Comfort 50 slabs have a clear shape, as well as an L-shaped edge, thanks to which the material fits tightly together during installation. This makes the elements truly resistant to stress, and the structure itself is more durable.

Thanks to the special structure of the material, even those who do not have significant experience in this industry will be able to finish walls.

Installation of penoplex Comfort 50 can be performed in almost any conditions, because the material is not afraid of impact atmospheric precipitation and other external factors.

Main advantages:

  • vapor tightness;
  • increased strength;
  • ease;
  • ease of processing and installation;
  • durability;
  • safety for the environment and human health.

It is worth noting the fact that chemical substances which are used during construction do not react with heat-insulating material. Exceptions are acetone, as well as polyesters and esters. They are able to change the shape of the slab and even dissolve the product.

An important advantage of the material is its biostability. Thus, penoplex is not subject to decomposition or rotting. To maintain the dimensions of the insulation, you need to monitor the ambient temperature. This is explained by If heated too much, the material may become deformed., and in the worst case it will melt.

Penoplex is often used to insulate various enclosing elements. It can be used even in northern regions. It is worth noting that penoplex does not sag in vertical structures. It is also not susceptible to crumbling or cracking. Accordingly, the material will retain its properties throughout the entire period of operation.

It is important to remember that such thermal insulation solves several problems:

  • reduction of labor costs, as well as the timing of construction work;
  • reduction of air conditioning and heating costs;
  • formation of an optimal microclimate;
  • creating a thermal barrier.

Scope of application

Thanks to all the mentioned characteristics and advantages, Penoplex Comfort 50 is considered universal. With its help you can insulate:

Price

The price for 1 m² of penoplex depends on the thickness, ranging from 20–100 mm. Therefore, experts recommend paying attention to volume. As a rule, most companies offer 1 m³ of material for 3.5–5.5 thousand rubles.
