How to make a homemade airbrush from a syringe? How to make an airbrush at home with your own hands Homemade airbrush from a syringe

Today we will talk about how to make a high-quality airbrush with your own hands for applying drawings to a car. We will also consider diagrams and methods for assembling homemade airbrushes with clear photographs and drawings

On sale can be found as professional expensive models airbrushes from famous manufacturers, as well as cheaper models for performing simple work. But you can make a simple airbrush with your own hands, which will allow you to significantly save money and get a pretty good tool for doing simple work.

The father of modern airbrushing can be considered Abner Peeler, a jeweler from Iowa (USA). In 1879, he used a spoon, a needle from sewing machine, a bent screwdriver, old soldering tubes and bent metal, twisting it all together on several wooden blocks, assembled the first airbrush. By pairing it with our own patented manual air compressor, he called this device: “paint spreader” for watercolor painting and other artistic purposes.

In April 1882, Charles and Liberty Walkup bought the rights to this invention for $700 and invested another $150 in two new prototypes. By August they had sold 63 "paint spreaders" to the Indianapolis Photographic Convention. In 1884, the Airbrush Manufacturing Company of Rockford was incorporated and the real growth of the business began and spread throughout the world.

In 1884, a new Phoebe Walkup design was demonstrated at the New Orleans International Exposition. The huge success of this model became a good springboard for the company. Were open small classes to teach people how to use a new artistic tool. However, the demand was so great that in 1888 the "Illinois State School of Art" was opened to accommodate all interested students.

However, it must be said that most books on airbrushing, where historical references are given, give a different date for the appearance of airbrush. In 1893, at the Chicago World's Fair, Thayer and Chandler tried to challenge Walkup's rights to the name "Airbrush". In truth, it should be noted that their design was more reminiscent of modern airbrushes.

Developer Charles Burdick began his experiments by modifying existing scheme airbrush, intending to make it lighter and more pen-like. It is believed that it was Charles Burdick who, in 1893, registered the first patent for an airbrush device similar to the one used today.

By type of flow mixing (air and color):

· External mixing. This is the simplest tool. It is designed for painting large surfaces. This could be a homemade tool made from an old vacuum cleaner or even an ordinary ballpoint pen.

· Internal mixing. In this case, the mixing of flows occurs directly inside the housing, which is presented in the form of a spray head.

By type of control:

· Single action. In this case, the tool is controlled either through the air or through the ink channel. The airbrush, which is controlled via an air channel, is rightfully considered the most economical in this group.

· Double action. Management here occurs through both channels. In this group, there are two more subtypes: dependent action (automatic) and independent action (manual).

Training video:

· Independent action. This is a mechanical model, the process of working with which is completely controlled.

By type of paint supply and location of the paint container:

· With enamel top liner.

· With enamel bottom liner.

· With a side-mounted paint container.

· With paint under pressure.
How to make an airbrush with your own hands.

Many people are interested in the question: “Is it possible to assemble an airbrush yourself at home?” Making a homemade airbrush is quite simple, and its production will not require any material costs and will not take much free time.

In order to make a simple airbrush yourself at home, you will need only three things:

· ball pen;

· wine cork;

· a small empty glass container in which the paint will be placed.
Preparing the pen for further work

First of all, you need to disassemble the handle, remove the rod from it and blow out all the paste from it.

In order not to blow out the paste yourself, prepare a syringe in advance, warm up the nose of the syringe with a lighter and flare (expand) it with a regular skewer.

It is advisable to rinse the paste with alcohol, but you can also use water.

Make sure that the rod is completely clean after rinsing.
Preparing the cork

You need to cut a small corner out of the cork. To make it more clear what we are talking about now we're talking about, please pay attention to the diagram.

After this, we assemble the airbrush ourselves according to the drawings.

After the tool is assembled, we check its operation. Pour paint into the bottle and blow. So, the paint is sprayed onto any surface that needs to be painted. Spray adjustment is carried out by moving the rod and handle body, and also largely depends on air pressure, that is, on the force with which you blow.

Such homemade model With an airbrush you can easily paint any parts at the time of repair or restoration.

The quality of work of such a homemade airbrush will directly depend on the tightness of the handle body, plug and rod.
How to make an airbrush that will have a long service life.

To significantly increase the service life of a homemade airbrush, it is advisable to replace the ballpoint pen with a more durable one. quality material eg copper tubes.
This airbrush has a light weight, is quite easy to use and, most importantly, it allows you to distribute evenly and efficiently coloring composition over the entire surface to be painted in an even and homogeneous layer.

So we will try to create the simplest and cheapest airbrush (and if we also have one that works, it will be good, of course). To implement a simple plan, we need:

1. Ballpoint pen (preferably with an empty refill);
2. A small piece of plastic;
3.Needle;
4.Glue + solvent (any).
5. Pump (preferably foot pump) + hose from the pump.

This begs a simple, logical question: “So what, you can make an airbrush out of these things, and even make money from it?” The answer will be just as logical - yes! After all, it doesn’t matter at all what you work on; rather, the result of your work is more important. Naturally, having studied this lesson to the end, and even creating your own airbrush, you will not become the most famous and successful in this field. But after reading a few more lessons on the topic of creating and running a business, as well as putting these articles together in your head, you will be able to make money on what is called Airbrush (everything will be very good if you organize several friends with artistic inclinations to help you).

But let's get back to our airbrushes, comrades!

So, having at hand necessary details, We begin to create an airbrush. We take the pen and remove the rod from it. We take out the metal head with the ball from the rod. If the refill contains ink, then after removing the head, you need to clean the ink from the refill. To do this, blow into the rod until all the ink flows out, then clean the rod with solvent. Next, you need to remove the ball from the metal head using a needle. After removal, the metal head must be washed with solvent and inserted back into the rod;

Next, we cut out two strips from a piece of plastic, approximately 15 mm wide and a couple of centimeters long. We glue these strips together strictly at an angle of 90 degrees and drill a hole in one of them for the rod, and in the other, a hole for the body of the handle. All holes must be on the axis of symmetry;
Now we insert the rod into one hole and the handle body into the other. By moving them, we ensure that the end of the rod slightly overlaps the hole in the handle body. What should happen is shown in the figure.

Don’t forget that you should also have a container for paint (for example, a hand-friendly jar with a lid). And for greater convenience, you can make something like a paint supply valve. To do this, you need to drill a hole with a diameter of about 3 mm in the handle body. When you close the hole with your finger, the air will flow as expected - through the nozzle, a vacuum will be created at the end of the rod, and the paint, rising along the rod, will splash. If you remove your finger from the hole, then all the air will pass through it and no splashing will occur.

As an improvement, you can choose a handle made of plastic, which is not dissolved by solvent, otherwise, the body of the handle will have to be changed periodically.

But the most important thing in all this is that, with a little extra thinking, you can improve your airbrush! And even this primitive drawing shows how to do this. That's all there is to the creation of an airbrush. In the next lesson, we’ll talk about what can be painted (of course, we’ll talk from the point of view of money and business

Craftsmen offer different ways airbrush assemblies. Below are 2 ways to make this tool yourself.

You can make a simple airbrush using a regular ballpoint pen.

This spray gun allows you to apply enough high-quality coating, and sometimes you simply can’t do without such a tool.

· ballpoint pen with an empty refill;

· piece of plastic;

· any solvent.

Airbrush assembly steps:

To assemble an airbrush, it is better to choose plastic handle, which will not be dissolved by the solvent. Otherwise, the housing will need to be changed. Remove the rod from the pen.
Pull the metal tip out of the rod. If the pen is full of ink, remove it by blowing into it and then rinse with solvent. Remove the ball from the metal tip using a needle. Rinse the tip with solvent and insert into the rod.

1. Cut 2 strips of plastic, 20 mm long and 15 mm wide. Glue them together at a 90° angle and drill a hole for the rod in one of them and a hole for the handle body in the other. Holes must be drilled along the axis of symmetry.

2. Insert the shaft and handle body into the corresponding holes. As you move these strips, make sure the end of the rod slightly overlaps the hole in the handle. In Fig. 1 you can see what it should look like.

To start staining, you need to lower it into liquid paint end of the rod and blow into the opposite end of the handle.

This is the easiest coloring method. But you can improve the airbrush from a pen by connecting a compressor with a receiver to it. You can also make this equipment yourself, for example, using a compressor from an old refrigerator. If you use a compressor when painting, you can make a primitive paint supply valve in a homemade airbrush. You need to drill a hole in the handle, the diameter of which is 3 mm. By closing and opening the hole with your finger, you will regulate the air supply. When closing the hole, air will flow through the nozzle and paint will be sprayed. When the hole is opened, air will escape through it and paint will not spray.

There is another way to make an airbrush from scrap materials. Such a tool will cost you at least 65% less than a branded one.

To make it you will need:

· a copper rod, the outer diameter of which is 3/32 inches and the length is 0.5 inches;

· copper rod, the internal diameter of which is 3.32 inches, the length is 1 inch;

· one-piece pneumatic tube, the length of which is 3/4 inch;

· hose fitting, the thread of which is 1.8 inches;

· fitting with internal thread;

· fitting with external thread;

· tee;

· copper tube, the internal diameter of which is 3/32 inches, the length is 0.5 inches;

· plastic jar or container;

· lid for the jar;

· copper tube, the internal diameter of which is 1/8 inch and the length is 3 inches;

· a pneumatic tube having an internal diameter of 1/8 inch and a length of 3.5 inches;

· 90° angle valve;

· tee.

1 inch = 2.54 cm. The serial numbers of the parts coincide with the part numbers in Fig. 2, so strictly adhere to the diagram when assembling the tool.

To modify this airbrush, you need to purchase 2 more pneumatic tubes, 4 and 4.5 inches long. Heat the middle of part #3 evenly, pull it out and cut it. Insert these two pneumatic tubes into it.

1. Similarly, heat part number 12 and bend it at an angle of 135°.

2. Before assembling the airbrush, wrap all joints with Teflon tape.

3. Connect parts No. 8 and No. 9 at the end of the airbrush assembly. In part No. 9, make a hole that will fit perfectly under parts No. 8 and No. 12.

For an airbrush assembled using the second method, you will definitely need a compressor, which you can also make yourself. To do this, you can use a working compressor from an old refrigerator. A compressor from an imported refrigerator is best suited for this, since such compressors are more economical than domestic ones and make less noise.

The instructions below will allow you to assemble a compressor with a receiver and a pressure switch. In this case, you do not have to resort to turning and welding work, and you can reduce your financial expenses as much as possible. Recommendations for assembling a compressor with a receiver:

1. Carefully remove the compressor from the refrigerator. However, do not bite or cut the tubes to avoid metal shavings getting into the compressor. Remove the relay.

2. In Fig. Figure 3 shows a diagram of the assembly of a compressor with a receiver. Using it as a guide, connect the parts.

3. Before assembly, change the oil in the compressor. To do this, you need to unsolder the tube, drain the used oil and fill in new oil. After this, the tube must be sealed with sealant.

4. Bolt the compressor, receiver tank and start relay to the plywood.

5. According to the diagram in Fig. 4 connect all components, hoses, filters, moisture-oil separator. One filter must be installed on the inlet pipe, the other between the compressor and the receiver. At the entrance, set check valve and next to it is the power relay.

6. Treat all joints with silicone sealant.

What you will need to assemble a compressor with a receiver:

· compressor from the refrigerator;

· capacity for the receiver (for example, a 24-liter water pump accumulator);

· emergency valve with pressure gauge;

· check valve installed at the receiver inlet;

· pressure switch RDM-5 with a pressure limit of 2.8 bar;

· various adapters and fittings for connecting parts;

· clamps;

· hoses;

· silicone sealant;

· 2 fuel filters;

· moisture-oil separator with output pressure reducer;

Car owners have recently begun to often use airbrushing - each of them dreams that among the many Vehicle his car was special. Airbrushing is the application of a design to a body using special paints using an airbrush. Such work can be done not only by professional artists, but also by ordinary car enthusiasts. How to do airbrush with your own hands for beginners? You can use stencils. But to make images beautiful and vibrant, expensive tools are required. Fortunately, you can get by with more affordable options...

What is airbrush

Types of devices

A modern airbrush has simple design and is designed in such a way that during operation two flows are mixed: dye and air. Because of this, they are divided into two types: devices with a single and double operating principle.

Multifunctional airbrushes will cost much more than simple models. If you purchase all the necessary elements from a specialized store, you can assemble such a device yourself in your garage. The cost of a homemade airbrush will be less.

How realistic the drawing will be depends on what kind of airbrush is used. The better the tool, the better the result.

It is important to know! The process of applying the varnish layer must be continuous. Therefore, the compressor must not be switched off during operation.

Dyes

Each paint has its own characteristics and cost. Accordingly, when choosing a coloring material, you need to take into account all the positive and negative qualities. The required tone for the work is selected by mixing paints in containers prepared in advance.

Need to know! Too much thick paint clogs the airbrush nozzles. Therefore, it can ruin not only the drawing, but also the device itself.

How to make the device yourself

A homemade airbrush can be assembled from simple and cheap materials. This is a ballpoint pen, a syringe up to 20 cc. mm, wine cork, awl and knife, lighter, sandpaper, glass container, hot glue and a bright marker. The airbrush is assembled as follows:

The airbrush is completely ready for use!

Drawing

Do-it-yourself airbrushing on a car is a very exciting and exciting job. But it requires a lot of time and effort. In order for the final result to be justified, clear step-by-step actions should be followed.

Operating technique

How to airbrush a car if you have never used an airbrush? First try to draw something on a separate metal sheet. First, they learn to draw horizontal lines and only then draw curved stripes and circles. After a little practice, you can move on to the car. The drawing technique includes three rules:

To avoid drips and light spots, move your hand with the airbrush smoothly. You should not make sudden movements or stop in one place for a long time. When creating an image, light shades are applied first, and only then the rest.

For newbies

If you do not have artistic skills and you do not know how to airbrush a car, then you can use vinyl stickers or stencils.

DIY stencil

A disposable or reusable stencil can be purchased in a store or made by yourself.

In order to rinse the airbrush as thoroughly as possible from the remaining paint, you need to learn how to quickly disassemble and reassemble it. After finishing the work, wash the nozzles and other elements of the device thoroughly. Otherwise, the dried dye will completely ruin it.

Airbrushes or, as this device is often called, spray guns are often necessary. Of course, you can buy them in specialized stores, take them from friends, but you can also make them yourself at home.

To create your own airbrush you will need following materials: a regular ballpoint pen, a wine cork and a glass jar small size, into which the paint will be placed.

The necessary materials have been collected, you can get down to business.

First, you need to disassemble the ballpoint pen and blow the paste out of the refill. This can be done with your mouth, but for safety reasons, you can initially purchase a syringe, heat its nozzle with a regular lighter and flare it with any available material, such as a barbecue skewer, so that the shaft of the pen fits into it. You can rinse the paste from the rod with alcohol or water.

The first stage is over. Now you need to cut out a small corner wine cork one and a half centimeters deep. You can use a stationery knife for cutting.

When the corner is cut out, you need to make a hole in the middle of the cork so that the ballpoint pen refill passes through it. You also need to make a separate passage on the side of the cork so that the lower part of the ballpoint pen passes through it.

The lower part of the ballpoint pen should be slightly expanded using sandpaper and pass it through the side hole on the plug.

The next thing you need to do is pass the shaft of the pen through the bottom hole on the plug that we made first.

On the lid of the jar, you need to open another hole the size of a ballpoint pen, pass it through this hole and fix everything with hot glue, which will also ensure tightness. In some cases, the pen shaft may be longer than the glass jar used. In this case, you just need to cut off the excess part of the rod. It is important that the rod does not reach the very bottom of the jar.

That's all. The airbrush or spray gun is ready. All that remains is to dilute the paint and pour it into the jar. Paint can be different, which means that there are no exact and specific dilution proportions. However, it should be noted that the paint in the jar should be slightly thicker than water.

Well-groomed hands with an attractive manicure for the fairer sex are an indicator of grace. Professionals use various techniques for application beautiful drawings on nails, it has become especially fashionable to do airbrushing. The main tool for doing this is a small pistol, which is not that cheap. This is why many people try to do it at home.

How the device works

This device functions as follows: the air present in the valve is compressed, thereby creating strong pressure and spraying special dye. Its main advantage is that it allows you to create smooth color transitions on your nails. The patterns drawn by this device always turn out voluminous and realistic.

Types of spray guns

The airbrush for nails can be single or double action. In simple homemade pneumatic guns, you can regulate the supply of coloring liquid. As a rule, such a device is used together with stencils. It produces rich and clear patterns on the nails.

But in double-action devices, not only the paint supply is controlled, but even the air flow. They are adjusted manually using a special valve. This airbrush for nails allows you to create more precise and beautiful designs with subtle elements. Using Settings air supply You can change the thickness of the lines.

What does an airbrush consist of?

There are a huge number of varieties of pneumatic sprayers, but their structure is almost the same. A do-it-yourself airbrush at home most often consists of the following parts:

  • A needle that controls the supply of dye.
  • A nozzle, which is an element at the end of the tool for adjusting the thickness of the jet, with a diameter of at least 0.2-0.3 mm.
  • Adjustment lever and valve to control air and liquid levels, creating optimal pressure in system.
  • A reservoir into which varnish or paint is poured for applying designs.
  • The handle, however, is not present in all devices.
  • An air valve that transfers air to the nozzle.

By the way, a do-it-yourself airbrush at home will work more efficiently with a compressor that creates required pressure. Therefore, care should be taken in its manufacture.

How to make an airbrush from a ballpoint pen?

To assemble such a tool, you must prepare in advance:

  • a simple pen for writing;
  • sealant or glue;
  • wine cork;
  • empty glass jar volume 0.5 liters (preferably with a lid).

First of all, unscrew the body of the ballpoint pen and pull out the refill, from which you will have to blow out all the ink. Then you should rinse it thoroughly using a solvent and dry it. The body of the pen will act as a nozzle, so you shouldn’t throw it away.

If you have problems cleaning the rod, you should try doing it with a syringe. To do this, you need to heat its spout and install it in the rod, flaring it a little, and then pull out the liquid dye.

Then a notch is made in the cork on one side to the middle, after which it should be turned over and cut in the opposite direction. The cut piece can be thrown away; it will not be useful. In the remaining part you need to make a hole to install the rod, which is best placed in the center. Another hole is cut perpendicular to it in the middle of the cut out part.

Then the nozzle of the future airbrush is made. One end of the rod should be rounded with sandpaper and inserted into the first notch. The housing from the handle is installed in the hole located on the side.

You will also have to make a small hole in the lid of the jar for the rod, the excess length of which can be cut off with scissors. Before using the airbrush, you must secure its position in the upper part of the container using silicone sealant or glue. In this way, it will be possible to balance the air flow pressure inside the system.

In order for the airbrush you assembled from a pen to last as long as possible, it is better to use copper tubes instead of a rod and a writing instrument.

Creating a small compressor from a diaphragm pump

It would not be possible to manufacture such a device special labor. A mini compressor for an airbrush, made with your own hands from a car electric pump, is suitable for creating beautiful designs on your nails. Of course, its coloring quality and power will be inferior professional devices, but for a DIY manicure it will do just fine.

In order for the finished ballpoint pen gun to start functioning, you need to connect it directly to the compressor hose. However, the air pulsation created by the pump will not allow the varnish or paint to apply evenly. Therefore, you will also have to add a receiver to the system, at least the simplest one.

For such purposes, you can use the expansion tank from the machine or plastic canister volume 3-5 liters. The advantage of the first option is that there are outlet pipes that facilitate the installation procedure. You just have to put connecting hoses on them, then secure them with clamps, and a simple airbrush compressor, made by yourself, is ready for use.

for airbrush from a syringe

Before you begin assembling it, it is advisable to prepare everything in advance necessary tools. To make this tool you will need:

  • needle and disposable syringe;
  • ballpoint pen refill;
  • hot glue;
  • plastic or Glass bottle with lid;
  • paint tank.

The syringe is fixed on the prepared glass or plastic container, while a tube with a needle is inserted into the body. Several holes are made in the lid for air access. Optimal distance between the tip of the pen and the needle can be calculated experimentally. The main advantage of such a spray gun is the easy replacement of the tank.

A do-it-yourself airbrush at home from a syringe is created in several stages. First, the tip of the handle is cut off with a cone. Then the working part of the needle is cut off, after which it is dipped into hot glue and inserted into the cut rod. This must be done in such a way that the tip of the medical needle is visible from the metal part of the rod.

Another way to make an airbrush from a syringe

To assemble such a device, you will need the following parts: a disposable syringe with a needle, electrical tape or tape, a paper clip, thread and a container for the dye.

The medical needle should be heated well over a fire so that it can be easily separated from the plastic base, and the plunger should be removed from the syringe. The paperclip must first be straightened, after which it will have to be slightly bent. Then one side of the metal clamp is fastened to the needle with a thread, and the other is fixed to the body with tape. Moreover, the structure must be attached to the top of the medical instrument.

After this, insert the tip of the needle so that it is in the middle of the syringe nozzle. In order for the airbrush made from a syringe to work, you need to add a coloring liquid to the container and dip the needle into it. All that remains is to blow hard into the wide hole.

An airbrush made in this way at home is popularly called a “rotoblower.” It takes about 15 minutes to assemble.

How to use an airbrush?

Before filling the tank, you need to dilute the paint to the desired consistency. After all, any coloring matter poured into a container should be slightly thicker than water.

A mini-gun for creating a unique manicure will become more convenient if handles are installed on the container with paint. Although the airbrush is lightweight, it often takes several hours to paint, which is why your hands get very tired of holding it.

Anyone can work with such a device if they wish, it is not necessary to be an artist. The main thing in airbrushing is to master the technique. Nail art allows you to create unique designs and unusual graphic compositions on your nails using special stencils and other additional devices.

If your homemade airbrush does not have a compressor, then simply blow into the back of the pen body. It is the force of air pressure that can control the range, as well as the intensity of the ink jet.

Every beginner in this business should first learn how to make simple monochromatic designs, lines and shapes with an airbrush. It is best to take special training courses that will show you how to properly handle such a device. After gaining sufficient experience, you will be able to create even very complex compositions.

A homemade airbrush will not only allow you to do a luxurious and quick manicure at home, but also save money on beauty salons.

Today, airbrushing is becoming widespread - applying a pattern to a car body with paint under high pressure. But with the help of this technique you can decorate any surface: decorate the facade, make changes to the interior, paint dishes. Available on the market big choice tools for drawing, but everyone can make an airbrush with their own hands from parts that are in every apartment.

A modern style of painting that uses compressed air as a tool in addition to paint. Using a simple device, first made in 1879 by a jeweler from Iowa, paint is sprayed in a thin stream onto the surface. Used as a spray gun at first, it was later replaced by a more compact device. Both the paint supply system and the modification of the handle changed.

Today, using the refill of a ballpoint pen, a household compressor or a cylinder, it is not difficult to make a convenient airbrush for home use. Homemade tools will not be able to compete with factory devices in terms of accuracy of applying small patterns. But for the decoration of medium and large areas, acquaintance with the principles of work for a novice artist of this tool is quite enough.

What does an aethograph consist of and how does it work?

Regardless structural type based on spraying paint like an aerosol can. Thanks to the needle, trigger and replaceable nozzles, the pattern line is more uniform and thin.

The thickness of the line is regulated by the consistency of the paint, which under pressure forms a jet of different thicknesses, the distance to the surface to be painted, air pressure and nozzle diameter. Design of a professional airbrush:

  • needle;
  • air nozzle;
  • frame;
  • trigger (switch);
  • spring;
  • caliper;
  • O-rings;
  • air valve;
  • needle holder;
  • paint tank;
  • pen.

The air passing through the tube mixes with the paint, which rises from the tank under the influence of pressure, or combines with the air under the influence of gravity if the tank is installed on top or on the side of the airbrush.

The operating principle of the device resembles a car spray gun. The amount of paint, pressure and speed are adjusted using a trigger. To assemble an airbrush with your own hands at home, you will need to select replacements for the air tube, body, and needle from scrap materials, adjust the amount of paint supplied, and the pressure level. Depending on the diameter of the nozzle and the size of the installed needle, the artist can make handy tool for surface decoration, modeling.

Types of airbrushes

Structurally, the airbrush for modeling is divided according to the principle of mixing the air and paint flow into internal mixing (in the airbrush body) and external mixing, when two jets are connected at the exit from the nozzle.

The external mixing apparatus is available for self-assembly. Several steps of cartridge assembly and simple connection to the compressor will be required.

The internal paint and air mixing device is controlled by a trigger. By pressing the button, the valve opens, air passes into the body and mixes with the paint. The artist receives a line of the required thickness.

Based on the control principle, a double or single action tool is distinguished. A dual-action device allows you to control two flows: paint and air. This is necessary when creating small drawings.

At self-production you can settle on a design without a needle. The necessary holes are cut out in the bottle cap, and the cork is attached to the body of an ordinary pen or disposable syringe. A hose is placed inside through which air will move. The paint container is installed under the structure. The paint is sprayed in a uniform but unclear stream.

This tool will be convenient for painting plain surfaces, as if using a spray gun. It is not suitable for artistic paintings or modeling, as it produces spraying jagged edges. This is the simplest option that can be used for stencil painting.

Double action tools are used by professional artists. In such a device you can control the flow of air and paint by changing the quantity and speed.

Assembling the device without a sprayer

Assembly of such a tool takes 10-20 minutes. To paint with it, you just need to blow into it. The design does not use an airbrush hose. Of course, not about any artistic paintings in this case there is no question. A simple device is useful when modeling, when it is necessary to paint small parts, apply paintwork for chips on the body, etc.

There are two common installation methods:

  • plastic syringe, needle, gel pen;
  • paper clip;
  • nylon thread (reinforcement);
  • a piece of electrical tape, adhesive tape;
  • paint can.

The sequence, regardless of the manufacturing method, is identical, only in the second case, instead of a syringe, a pen will be used as a body:

  1. The syringe needle heats up and separates from the base.
  2. A paperclip (or similar piece of wire) is bent at a right angle.
  3. One corner of the paperclip is tied with a reinforced thread to a needle.
  4. The second side of the paper clip is fixed with tape on the body of the syringe.

One side of the needle will go into the paint jar, the other side will be used as an airbrush nozzle, which should be placed near the outlet of the syringe.

The paint is diluted to the desired consistency, spraying occurs after the artist begins to blow into the wide end of a homemade instrument.

Manufacturing with sprayer

Such a device is a completely different level of drawing. A simple tool will allow you to precision work for modeling, body painting, decorating a room or drawing on cardboard. Assembly will require up to 30 minutes and a little patience:

  • 3 ballpoint and 2 gel pens;
  • deodorant can;
  • wire;
  • nipple;
  • 2 bolts with a diameter of 3 mm;
  • 2 needles;
  • glue.

Assembling an airbrush with a sprayer goes through stages. First you need to make a needle clamp, a cartridge:

  1. Remove all parts from the automatic pen housing and lower the spring into the housing. You can use a syringe. The piston is also removed from it, and the fountain pen spring is lowered.
  2. The pen shaft is cleaned of paste. A hole is made in the rod body and a bolt is inserted.
  3. The building is being prepared. Two holes are made in a ballpoint pen with a hot awl. On the one hand it will be round hole with a diameter of 0.5 cm, on the other - an oval 2 cm long and 0.5 cm wide.
  4. Bend the wire and insert it into the holes.
  5. Bend the needle from the syringe, insert it into the hole in the handle, the other end will be attached to the bottle of paint.
  6. Insert the needle cartridge into the body.
  7. Frame air valve Made from the tip of an automatic pen.
  8. The homemade product is held together with wire and glued.

Making a compressor for an airbrush with your own hands is just as easy. Can be used as hoses, dropper tubes, balloons compressed air, and for air supply - a car compressor.

The main features of the device will be:

  • compressor;
  • tee;
  • adapter;
  • receiver (oil separator):
  • filter;
  • hose.

Assembling the structure involves installing a pressure gauge. This is required to adjust the pressure before starting. It is better to install the device on a stand and secure it firmly.

DIY airbrush stand

An additional detail will be a holder, which is quite easy to make yourself. There are several stand options. The simplest is to use a metal clamp that secures the device to the table. The second common option is a bracket from a meat grinder.

  1. Drill two holes in the bracket with a diameter for a knitting needle.
  2. Bend the knitting needle, insert it into the hole in the bracket, and solder it.
  3. Place the device on the resulting tripod and secure it tightly.

All work related to soldering must be carried out carefully. After connecting the bottle of paint and connecting the air supply, the tool is configured. Before repairing or designing, you should prepare the paint and practice on a sheet of cardboard.

Airbrush setup

By joining everything necessary details, proceed to setup. The tip of the needle, where the paint will come out, should be located as close as possible to the air hole.

In a homemade airbrush, it is better to install a tank with paint from the bottom: this will give optimal atomization. The air supply is regulated by turning on the compressor or pressing the trigger of the air cylinder.

Rules for working with a homemade airbrush

Compliance with safety precautions will make your work easier:

  1. The closer the sprayer is to the surface, the wider and blurrier the line will be.
  2. After replacing the paint, you need to rinse the airbrush nozzle with solvent. The body of the ballpoint pen should not be made of plastic so that the solvent does not corrode the walls.
  3. The thicker the paint, the greater the pressure required from the compressor for optimal atomization.
  4. All work must be carried out indoors without drafts or sharp gusts of wind.
  5. The paint should be sprayed at an exact 90° angle to the surface. Otherwise, the line will turn out fuzzy, with torn edges.
  6. The lines must be drawn quickly, without holding the device in one place for more than a second, otherwise the paint will begin to flow.

Simple rules will help beginners get comfortable with this interesting view creativity, like airbrush, and self-assembly simple apparatus will cost pennies. This good opportunity find out and test in practice whether you really like this way of drawing, or whether a traditional brush and pencil is preferable.
