A blender instantly turns any food into a homogeneous mass, helps crush ice, make a delicious smoothie, and especially powerful devices can cope with nuts and pieces of meat. But how to use a blender if you have no experience yet? Let's look at this in detail.

Device structure

Before you figure out how to use a blender correctly, you should still understand the principle of its operation.

Usually in the box with the unit there is always an instruction manual that describes everything in detail. constituent elements devices and technical characteristics. But the main element is a special two-blade knife, which rotates electrically. Depending on the type of blender, this blade is located either in the submersible leg or in a special bowl.

Stationary blender

Stationary blenders are somewhat reminiscent of coffee grinders and look like a bowl with a lid and knives inside. What can be ground in a blender chopper (plastic or glass bowl with blades) depends on its power. The more powerful the device, the harder the products it can grind.

How the device works:

Image Sequencing

Step 1

Place hard foods, berries, and fruits that need to be chopped into pieces into the bowl. Cover the bowl with a lid.

Step 2

Set the power by adjusting the corresponding slider and turn on the “Start” button.

In most devices, the button must be held down for the knives to continue grinding.

Step 3

Wait until the contents of the bowl become homogeneous and pour the resulting mixture into the finished container.

Step 4

Wash the bowl and knives thoroughly and leave to dry. Any housewife will immediately figure out how to wash the device: all stationary models have a removable bowl with knives.

Small pieces will turn into a homogeneous mass faster and more evenly than large ones. When filling the bowl, make sure that there is enough free space before the lid, otherwise the chopper may be damaged. Do not fill the bowl with too many ingredients, otherwise they will not be chopped well.

Submersible version of the device

Features of immersion blender:

  • more compact sizes;
  • the presence of a so-called leg.

This leg at its end has an extension in the form of a skirt, inside of which there is a mini version of two-blade knives, but no less sharp. The foot plunges into the pieces of food that need to be ground and, with smooth hand movements, turns everything into a homogeneous mass.

How does an immersion blender work?:

Image Sequencing

Step 1

Assemble the immersion blender by attaching the leg to the handle with buttons. Make sure that you hear a characteristic click, which means that the fasteners have entered the grooves and the leg is securely fastened.

Plug in the unit using the cord and plug as shown in the photo.

Step 2

Dip your foot into the contents, which are pre-cut into pieces.

Turn on the device and, using circular movements, periodically releasing and pressing the button, go through all the pieces.

Step 3

Continue until there are no visible whole pieces and the entire mass has a uniform consistency.

The higher you set the power, the faster the knives spin. It is better to grind solid fragments at maximum power.

Step 4

After use, remove the device, separate the leg from the handle and wash the elements warm water with detergent.

Before using the hand blender again, make sure that there are no food particles left on the blades from previous use.

Always consider the power of the device when using it. Low-power choppers usually have a plastic leg and are designed for beating soft berries. If you try to grind nuts with it, the blender will malfunction.

Device capabilities

You will be able to use the blender correctly after the first time, and if you follow the operating instructions, you can create real culinary masterpieces with your own hands.

How to work with a blender and what is it capable of?

  • an indispensable assistant in preparing baby food;
  • you can whip up pancake batter or eggs for an airy omelet without any problems;
  • fluffy puree without lumps;
  • healthy milk and protein shakes;
  • vegetable and fruit smoothies;
  • cream soups, puree soups and much more.

When using the device, do not grind hot foods; this may adversely affect its functionality. And it is also undesirable to use the device idle, since the motor can quickly overheat.

The price of blenders directly depends on:

  • maximum power(indicated on the box and the device itself in Watts, for example, 1000 W);
  • configuration(presence of additional attachments, measuring cup, etc.);

Almost a food processor

The laboratory site has already repeatedly tested multifunctional immersion blenders. However, we do not remember a device of this type that would be equipped with such a wide range of additional functions. With the help of Bosch MSM881x1, in addition to chopping and whipping, you can cut, shred and grate vegetables, cut them into cubes and even make thick, dense dough. The purpose of today's review is to check how well the blender copes with its basic and listed functions, whether it is convenient to use, and whether it is difficult to maintain. The key question is whether the Bosch MSM881x1 can be called a universal food processor.

Equipment

The device arrived at the laboratory in a parallelepiped box with a traditional Bosch design: large photographs of the device and its individual accessories are placed on a white background. The top and wide sides provide information about the power and functions of the device. On one of the sides you can see pictures of the dishes and the attachments used to prepare them. On the second side, acquaintance with the device continues: here is the name of the model, brief technical and operational characteristics. All information looks extremely clear. A careful study of the packaging convinces that the user will have a multifunctional and interesting device in the kitchen. The packaging is not equipped with a handle for transportation.

Opening the box, we found another box inside. white smaller size. In total, we extracted from both packages the following components of the Bosch MaxoMixx blender (this is the general name of the line of these multifunctional blenders):

  • main block;
  • blender foot;
  • blender glass;
  • whisk for whipping and reducer for it;
  • universal chopper size L with blade;
  • universal chopper size XL with an installed attachment for cutting food into cubes;
  • two plastic lids(for glass and chopper);
  • knife for universal chopper size XL;
  • nozzle for kneading dough;
  • disk for fastening inserts;
  • three cutting inserts in the disk;
  • pusher;
  • device for cleaning the cutting grid;
  • two instruction manuals.

In general, a lot of things. The accessories are so numerous that we couldn't help but let out a heavy sigh. The user will have to look at the instructions to figure out what is inserted where and how. It looks like we've got our hands on an extremely multifunctional device.

The blender components and accessories are packed in plastic bags and placed securely in boxes using cardboard inserts.

At first sight

The main unit, also known as a handle with an electric motor, is made of stainless steel and plastic. The grip area is made of rubberized plastic that does not slip even in a wet palm. The control buttons are large and easy to press due to the ergonomic shape of the upper part of the motor housing. At the narrowest point of the grip, the diameter of the handle is about 4 cm, we think that users even with small and narrow palms will be able to use the blender without effort or inconvenience. At the top is a rotating speed switch. On the sides at the bottom you can see buttons for securing the attachments.

The main nozzle - the blender leg is made of stainless steel. The metal has a matte sheen and is perfectly crafted and smooth to the touch. The hemisphere for grinding inside has a depth of about three centimeters and is equipped with a plastic deflector that changes the direction of flow inside the nozzle head. Thus, the blending process should be more efficient. The knife has a four-blade design. The two petals, located in opposite directions from the center, have a blade length of about two centimeters, and two short ones, about 7 millimeters long, are directed downward. Thanks to this immersion head design, the blender should work without splashing. The manufacturer calls this technology AntiSplash. Taking into account all the described design features, the submersible part of the blender leg gives the impression of either a well-thought-out detail, or a desire to beat competitors in innovation and originality.

The corolla has a standard shape. It is also made of stainless steel. The main attachments are attached to the handle of the electric motor without gaps or cracks. When assembled, the device looks very neat, a single device.

The blender glass, as well as the two grinding containers (L and XL), are made of plastic. The set includes two lids: for the glass and for the L bowl. On the walls of the glass there are graduations that mark the volume of liquid in different units of measurement: ml, cups, floz and pts. The bottom of the glass is smooth.

For simplicity, let's call the grinding containers large and small. The diameter of the small bowl is 12 cm. The thickness of the walls of this grinding container is greater than that of a glass and is about 3 mm. The bottom is equipped with legs with plastic suction cups, which protect the container from sliding on the surface and ensure a stable position of the device. On the inside of the walls, exactly opposite the legs, there are technological recesses. Apparently, they serve for better mixing and reorientation of the flow of the crushed product inside the bowl. A two-bladed knife is inserted onto the pin in the center. The blades of the knife are horizontally oriented and located at different heights. The large capacity knife has an identical design. The cap-nozzle for grinding is fixed on top of the container using three bayonet locks.

The diameter of the large bowl is 18 cm, the wall thickness is about 2 mm. On the outside of the container there are marks on the volume of the product placed inside. There is a massive plastic handle on the side that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. At the bottom along the perimeter of the bottom there is a removable rubber base, which will not only provide adhesion to the surface, but should also dampen vibrations that occur during operation of the chopper, dough mixer or cutting/shredding attachment.

In the center of the bottom on the inside there is a pin onto which a knife for chopping, an attachment for kneading dough or a disk for attaching inserts is put on.

On top, in the same way as on a small bowl, a lid-nozzle is put on. On top of the lid there is a place where the handle with an electric motor is inserted, opposite there is a hole for the pusher. The internal size of the loading opening is approximately 4.5 x 6.5 cm. The lid with gearbox is quite heavy (656 g).

For slicing, the device is assembled in a special, rather simple way. In the center of the bowl, you need to insert a disk for fastening the inserts, in which the desired disk is previously placed.

The set includes two discs for shredding and one for grating food.

The dicing attachment has a more complex configuration. A special design is attached to the lid for the large bowl, consisting of a black plastic circle with an installed steel insert and a round part with a knife that will cut off the cubes as they are fed. The knife insert is secured using simple clamps.

Our first acquaintance with the Bosch MSM881x1 immersion blender made a great impression on us. The phrase was born in my head: “Well, a very clever device!” If we return to the formal style of evaluating the device, we can note the high-quality execution of all parts and components. The blender handle is comfortable to hold, the attachments for the main functions are easy to assemble and attach to each other, and the plastic gives the impression of being strong and reliable.

The only thing that plagues us is the use of the attachment for slicing into cubes - the design looks too complicated. Yes, and it is attached to the cover of the chopper, not without graceful hand passes.

Instructions

The instruction manual also looked standard Bosch. And in in this case We do not admire, but are perplexed. The device is not the cheapest, assembly and operation of this blender may raise questions, and the instructions are not only hard to read, but also written on thin gray paper. If you twist the brochure back and forth several times, which you have to do, it will either fall apart or tear. The user, of course, can download the manual from the website, but when purchasing a kitchen appliance from a well-known manufacturer, I would like to see a little more care for the buyer.

In general, two instructions were found in the box with the device. Both are thick brochures, printed, as we noted above, on thin gray paper. The instructions contain information in 18 languages, which explains their considerable volume. As we understand it, one of the brochures is suitable for the entire Bosch MaxoMixx line, the second gives an in-depth overview of additional functions. The structure of both guides is the same. The first page is a fold-out page and contains a list of components, diagrams for assembling/disassembling the device to perform various operations, and a table with maximum volumes of different types of raw materials. The text of the manual itself contains standard information about safety precautions when using a blender, a comprehensive overview of the device, recommendations for cleaning and care, as well as several recipes for dishes: salads, sauce, soup, a couple of dough recipes (yeast for bread and shortbread), etc.

In general, the instructions are inconvenient to use. In addition to low-quality execution, the style of presenting information itself is not clear. So, for example, you need to constantly turn the brochure from page 130, which describes the shredder circuit, to the first folding page. The picture diagram you need may be on the other side of the long fold-out first page. In general, at the first acquaintance the user will have to suffer: first with the choice of a brochure with which to start, and then with processing and assimilation of the information.

Control

The Bosch MSM881x1 multifunctional blender is easy to operate. The control panel consists of two buttons on the electric motor body: on/off button. and a turbo button, as well as a speed selector from 1 to 12 using the rotary control on the top of the handle. The principles of operating the device are intuitive; of course, no special training is required.

Assembly of attachments for blending and whipping functions is simple - anyone who has ever used an immersion blender will cope with these tasks without difficulty. The assembly of a small grinding container is also obvious. We will tell you about the operation of the large bowl below.

Exploitation

Preparation for use

Requirements for first use are standard: wash all parts in contact with food with warm soapy water, wipe the motor block and gearbox covers with a damp cloth.

Usage

And now we will touch in more detail on the multifunctionality that has been mentioned more than once and systematize all the information gleaned from the manual (it’s not for nothing that we suffered so much while studying it). The following attachments are included in the kit to perform various tasks:

Blender attachment Designed for grinding, uniform mixing, emulsifying and whipping. You can use it to prepare cocktails, puree soups, baby food, sauces, batter, chop boiled vegetables and fruits.

Whisk attachment serves for whipping cream, proteins and milk into foam from hot and cold, as well as preparing sauces and desserts of light consistency.

Universal chopper suitable for grinding hard cheese, meat, fish, onions, herbs, garlic, nuts, vegetables and fruits.

Multifunctional accessories needed for mixing, cutting, chopping, and grating food.

Kneading attachment Suitable for kneading small amounts of dough.

Dicing attachment allows you to cut vegetables and fruits for salads, soups and desserts. This attachment is suitable for processing: potatoes (raw and boiled), vegetables (carrots, beets, cucumbers, onions, etc.), fruits (bananas, apples, pears, strawberries, kiwi, etc.), eggs, cheese, boiled sausage, boiled or fried meat.

The device can be used to prepare both cold and hot (up to 80°C) dishes. Do not crush frozen ingredients or ice. To process these products, a separate knife is produced that is not included in the kit in question.

The experience of using both the main and additional functions of the blender left a generally favorable impression. The controls are simple, it performs well as an immersion blender, the handle fits comfortably in the hand, the weight is standard, the glasses do not slip or crawl on the table. No vibration, no splashing, no foreign odors were noticed.

Quite curiously, the duration of continuous operation of the blender is regulated. Time is not limited to a specific period. For different types raw materials and different types processing, the maximum permissible weight or volume of the product and the recommended processing time are indicated. In the text of the manual it is difficult to find information that when cutting into cubes, you can process a maximum of about 3.5 kg of raw and cooked ingredients, but you can grate no more than 300 g of cheese. However, we did not find a limit on the operating time of the whisk . However, the blender is equipped with overheating protection, so it will turn itself off when it decides that it has had enough. Which is exactly what happened in one of our practical tests.

After processing the recommended maximum amount of raw material per unit load, allow the main unit to cool to room temperature for 30 minutes. Let's look at some data as an example. So, in a large chopper you can grind 500 g of meat at a time for 30 seconds, 350 g of onion for 5-10 pulses of 2 seconds, grate 300 g of carrots or cut 500 g of potatoes into slices. Overall, these are quite impressive numbers. We do not think that the user will consult the manual every time to check the recommended data. Firstly, after a couple of weeks of use you will gain experience, and secondly, common sense dictates that you should let the blender rest when its body gets hot.

Care

All plastic parts(glass, bowls, plastic lids, pusher), all knives, slicing attachments, shredders, kneading attachment, whisk and immersion blender foot are dishwasher safe. The electric motor handle and both covers with gearboxes cannot be washed either in the dishwasher or by hand, of course. These parts should only be wiped with a damp and then dry cloth. It is recommended to handle knives and attachments with blades especially carefully - they are quite sharp and you can cut yourself on them unnoticed. After washing the submersible leg in the PMM, it should be placed in a vertical position with the knives up so that the water that has penetrated inside can flow out. It is convenient to clean the dicing attachment using the included accessory.

The ban on washing chopper covers makes caring for the Bosch MSM881x1 blender much more difficult. The fact is that when food is processed, pieces of it end up on these parts. We had a particularly hard time cutting chicken into cubes. Chicken fibers were everywhere: it was difficult to remove them from the loading hole and the cracks between all kinds of clamps and locks. For example, this is what the lid and nozzle for cutting food into cubes looks like after slicing that same chicken:

It is not completely clear to us how to cope with cleaning greasy or sticky (from boiled potatoes) surfaces without water and soap. On the other hand, it is unlikely that the user will use the device to cut 100 grams of chicken. When making an Olivier basin, the resulting savings in time and effort are so great that you can find a few minutes to thoroughly clean the chopper lid. Cutting fresh vegetables using a regular shredder is not so problematic and it is easier to tidy up the device. Our experiments with cleaning ultimately boiled down to the fact that we wiped the indicated parts with a wrung-out soapy cloth, and then with a damp, clean one, after which we went over the gear covers with a dry cloth. In general, we can conclude that using a multifunctional chopper for a small amount of food (one carrot or preparing half a kilogram of Olivier salad) is irrational - washing and wiping parts and accessories will take too much time. If you need to chop a couple of kilograms of carrots for a Korean salad or prepare a bucket of vinaigrette, then the Bosch MSM881x1 can help.

Testing

Objective tests

Energy consumption measurements were made while the blender was running using a wattmeter. The maximum value we were able to achieve during practical tests was 380 W - when cutting into cubes chicken fillet. However, soon after this, the device began to emit a specific smell and the overheating protection activated, which turned off the device. During all tests, depending on the nozzle used and the operation, the wattmeter readings fluctuated in the following ranges:

  • whisk attachment: 33-60 W;
  • blender attachment: 40-160 W;
  • chopping vegetables and lean meat in a small chopper: 50-95 W;
  • chopping and grating fresh vegetables: 70-95 W;
  • dicing: 70-110 W;
  • making pate in a large chopper: 165-200 W;
  • dough mixer: 40-90 W.

The noise level during operation of the device is subjectively low. With the blender running at maximum speed, you can conduct a dialogue by slightly raising your voice. If food processing occurs at low speeds, then there is no need to strain your voice when speaking.

As for the duration of continuous operation, we were guided by the degree of heating of the electric motor housing. The maximum operating time of the whisk attachment was 5 minutes - the body did not heat up during this interval; shredded fresh vegetables We spent about 10 minutes - the device also worked without any comments.

Chopped fresh tomatoes

For this must-have test, we took 500 grams of fresh tomatoes, washed them and cut them into small pieces. Grind with a gradual increase in speed for 2 minutes.

The tomatoes have turned into a churned mass, interspersed with skins and seeds - a standard result for immersion blenders. There really is no splashing of the product.

Result: good .

Milkshakes

We didn’t even try to make a classic milkshake - you still can’t get an airy, light consistency using a regular blender attachment. That's why we whipped up milkshakes with the addition of berries and fruits. We made two: with blueberries and banana. The proportions of the products are as follows: berry/banana - 50 g, ice cream - 50 g, milk 120 ml. Beat starting from minimum speed and gradually bringing it to maximum, about one and a half to two minutes.

Banana traditionally gave a thicker and airier texture, with a slightly creamy taste. However, the whipped part settles quite quickly, i.e., in our opinion, the foam cannot be called stable.

The blueberry cocktail has a thinner consistency. All the resulting bubbles quickly (within about two minutes) burst, and the drink becomes just a thick, homogeneous liquid.

Result: good .

We stopped expecting a well-blended milkshake from the blender attachment a long time ago, so we mainly assessed the uniformity of blending and blending the blueberries/bananas.

Milk foam

To test the quality of the whisk attachment, we decided to move away from traditional egg whites and whip hot milk. Partly because the instructions explicitly state that a whisk is suitable for this purpose, partly because of the lively discussion of the problem of frothing milk in a recently published book.

150 ml of milk with a fat content of 3.5%–4.5% was heated to the recommended 70 °C in the manual. As for the quality of the milk, we used regular drinking whole pasteurized milk with a shelf life of 14 days. Whipped on maximum speed within three minutes. No splashing was observed. As a result, we received a lush, foamy mass that increased in volume by more than 3 times.

Result: excellent .

The foam turned out thick and persistent. So, for example, we were happy with the result obtained and jumped with a camera around cups of hot drinks and milk for about 10 minutes - during this time the foam retained its fluffiness, only slightly decreasing in volume.

Pianse

People living in western regions our vastness, they don’t always understand what dish they are talking about we're talking about. But Far Easterners can move straight to the next paragraph. So, this is a steamed pie made from yeast dough stuffed with meat, onions and cabbage with the addition of spices. For cooking we use a large aluminum pressure cooker. To prepare, we need yeast dough and meat filling with additives.

We kneaded the yeast dough in a large bowl according to the recipe given in the instruction manual. The recipe is classic, so we won’t repeat it. Please note that there was most likely an error or typo in the instructions: 0.5 g of yeast per 250 g of flour seemed not enough to us. Therefore, we added about 4 g of dry yeast per specified amount of flour. All ingredients were mixed in a large bowl. Stir for about two minutes at minimum speed, increasing it closer to the end of the process, to speed 6.

The weight of the resulting lump of dough was a little more than 400 g. In general, the process went well: the dough did not stick to the walls and was kneaded evenly. After cooking, put the dough to proof in the oven, heated to 30 °C.

Then we took a small grinding container. Prepared about 250 g of fillet chicken breasts: skinned, cut from bones, cut into small pieces. Grind in two passes for 10-15 seconds. As a result, we got good minced meat with individual small pieces and fibers of meat. We were pleased that the fillet did not turn into a paste, which is often the case with minced meat made using a grinder.

After transferring the minced meat into a bowl, we started chopping the onion. We processed it, as recommended in the instructions, with second pulses at turbo speed. It took us 4 pulses to chop 100 g of onion. We were very pleased with the result of this test: finely chopped onions, from which no juice was released and which did not turn into onion mush.

We obtained equally finely and efficiently chopped vegetables when processing cabbage. Then all the ingredients were thoroughly mixed, and we put the resulting filling in the refrigerator to mature.

In general, parsley is not really needed in this dish, but we had it, and we wanted to check how the blender would cope with chopping the herbs. The device coped with this task perfectly, evenly chopping both leaves and stems.

When the dough had risen, we formed 7 large round-shaped pies and greased the pressure cooker levels vegetable oil and put the pianse to bed. Steamed them for 35 minutes.

Result: excellent .

So, in this experiment we tested a small chopper and a kneading attachment. The device coped with all the assigned tasks, showing excellent results.

Banana bread

After working with thick dough, we became curious how the dough mixer would behave with a viscous structure.

Ingredients:

  • butter - 115 g;
  • flour - 175 g;
  • sugar - 200 g;
  • cocoa - 50 g;
  • sour cream - 130 g;
  • banana - 200 g;
  • egg - 2 pcs.;
  • soda - 1 tsp.

Sifted flour, cocoa powder, sugar were poured into a large container, sour cream, eggs, melted butter and a banana, broken by hand into small pieces, were added. We started kneading. It became clear that the banana was not crushed even at high mixing speed. We were forced to stop the device and mash the banana pieces with a fork. Then knead the dough using a blender. The next time we made a simple banana bread (without cocoa), we did this: puree the banana using a chopper, then, changing the blades to the kneading attachment, added all the other ingredients and kneaded it into a thick, sticky dough. We think that you can prepare this kind of dough using a blender attachment.

We baked at 170 °C for just over an hour. Readiness was checked with a wooden stick.

Result: good .

The device kneads medium-thick dough well. However, residues of dry products remain on the walls, scattered by centrifugal force above the level of the dough. For this reason, at least once during the kneading process, it is necessary to stop the device and shake off the flour from the walls of the bowl inward. Well, a few words about saving time: the dough specifically for banana bread is so easy to mix that if you take into account the time required to care for the device, it will be faster to prepare the dough by hand. Flour and drops of dough, of course, can fall on inner part lids that cannot be crushed under running water. The advantages include the ability to add ingredients during the mixing process through the loading hole.

Liver pate

Regular readers have noticed that every time we test blenders, we make either hummus or liver pate. The fact is that these dishes clearly demonstrate the quality of work of the knives of the device and their ability to obtain a homogenized paste-like mass. This time we will prepare pate. The recipe has been given so many times that we don’t want to repeat it.

The prepared vegetables and liver were chopped in a large bowl for about 2-3 minutes.

No miracles happened: the consistency of the resulting liver mass is standard, everything is perfectly mixed and ground, but the structure is not pasty.

Result: good .

Shredding carrots and cabbage

To check the quality of the grater, we took carrots. If it’s fine, we’ll prepare a simple salad with garlic and mayonnaise; if it’s grated coarsely, we’ll make Korean-style carrots.

The attachment is easy to assemble; no difficulties or repeated study of the instructions are required, as when assembling a device for slicing into cubes. Rubs quickly. Thus, five large carrots were grated in less than two minutes. There are several thin pieces of unprocessed carrots left on the disk in which the attachments are attached. The size of the resulting rubbed fragments can be seen in the photograph.

The carrots were mashed with sugar and salt and placed under weight. After some time, we peeled the garlic and squeezed it in a heap onto the prepared carrots. Then the oil was heated. When the oil began to boil, ground spices were added to it: coriander, red hot pepper, paprika, a mixture of peppers. Pour boiling oil onto the garlic mound. Mixed well and tasted. We realized that we needed to balance the taste, so we added a little regular vinegar.

The device comes with two shredding attachments: one for thick slices, the second, respectively, for thin slices. To cut cabbage, we took the second attachment. The main problem when shredding cabbage is the size of the loading hole, the need to chop the head of cabbage quite finely and place the pieces under the knives across the sheets.

In principle, we have completed all these tasks. The result was shredded cabbage, which contained pieces of uncut vegetables. In our opinion, there was enough waste on the disk:

Result: good .

Olivier and vinaigrette

We left the most interesting function of the device for last - cutting into cubes. Just recently, the New Year holidays with your beloved or hated Olivier died down. Let's find out whether this device salvation for all lovers of traditions, and housewives will enter into next year no moaning about the fatigue of making salads.

In order not to cause culinary battles in the forum regarding the composition of Olivier, we will demonstrate the technical side of the process and describe the nuances of using the dicing attachment.

The process happens very quickly, therefore, all ingredients should be prepared in advance: cool, peel, cut, if required. Carrots, cucumbers, medium-sized potatoes and eggs fit into the loading opening without any problems. Large potatoes, sausage or beets need to be cut. Carrots, beets, cucumbers and eggs are perfectly processed. Stickier potatoes may accumulate in piles on top of the attachment, sinking into the bowl only under their own weight. We actually had an incident with the chicken where the device turned off due to overheating. It appears that pieces of fillet were accumulating and getting stuck in parts of the nozzle design. There was a feeling that the nozzle was not cutting so much as squeezing and pushing the meat. Eventually, the large amount of crushed meat and excessive tension on the knife caused the motor to overheat.

In our opinion, the resulting cubes are a bit large. We think that from our photographs you can get an impression of the result of cutting and decide whether you are satisfied with this result or not.

We have already written about difficulties when cleaning the device. The loading hole and the bottom of the lid cannot help but get dirty when slicing food. But you can’t wash them! So the jumping around water, rags and detergents begins.

Result: satisfactory .

We were probably partly disappointed because we expected a lot from this feature. However, the cubes are not always uniform and the device is difficult to clean. We can definitely say that even the biggest fans of automating kitchen processes are unlikely to take out and assemble a blender to cut a small amount of food. Ultimately, this can be done using a wire cutter. It's another matter if you need to feed a dozen or two guests or you often cut food into cubes in large volumes. There’s one thing you can’t take away from the device: in 5-10 minutes you can actually make a bowl of salad. If you add 10 minutes for cleaning, then, overall, a good result.

conclusions

Overall, the Bosch MSM881x1 impressed me as an elegantly designed and sophisticated device. High-quality workmanship of all parts and accessories, quiet operation, the ability to store the results of blending or grinding directly in the blender bowls - all this makes using the device pleasant and convenient. The ergonomic handle and ease of operation will allow anyone to use the device. All experiments were successful.

The versatility of the device also adds advantages when thinking about purchasing. Various additional attachments help you prepare a wide variety of dishes: from ground tomatoes to baked goods. Perhaps the Bosch MSM881x1 can be called a mini food processor. The dicing function may be useful when preparing large volumes of salads. Another plus is the ability to wash almost all removable accessories in the dishwasher. You should also plan a place to store the device, since a significant number of accessories require some space.

This blender is one of the sets in the MaxoMixx line of immersion blenders. So, if necessary, the user has the opportunity to purchase additional attachments and accessories. For example, you can purchase an attachment for pureeing and a knife for chopping ice and frozen foods.

We would consider the disadvantages to be the difficulty in cleaning individual parts.

Blender is electrical appliance, the purpose of which is to grind food, prepare purees and emulsions, whip drinks, mousses, and also for crushing ice. This device can perform many functions, especially if equipped additional attachments and containers. How to use a blender to prepare delicious and healthy meals? Let's find out.

Description of stationary blenders

These kitchen electrical appliances are divided into two types: submersible and stationary. Let's describe the latter first. It is a stable base, a body with a built-in electric motor, on top of which a tall narrow bowl with a closing lid and bladed knives at the bottom is installed. The walls of the bowl can be made of glass (the most durable and practical to use) or plastic. This material has the following disadvantage: from high temperature The bowl may darken, so do not grind hot foods in it. How to use a stationary blender correctly? Finely chopped products are placed in the bowl, the lid is closed, plugged in and the button is pressed. Cooking time depends on the volume and density of the food. This blender is ideal for making milkshakes with ice cream and berries, fruit and vegetable smoothies, whipping pancake batter, and crushing ice for cocktails.

Precautions when using a stationary appliance

Using this type of device, you need to follow the following rules on how to use a blender:

  • Do not put large foods in the bowl, they should be cut into small pieces (this way the food will be ready faster);
  • do not use hot foods;
  • leave some free space under the lid, at least 2 cm (so that the motor does not overheat).

If you need to prepare a large dish, you should not add all the ingredients at once; it is better to add them little by little, shaking the glass occasionally. This way you will extend the cooking time and get an evenly mixed product.

Description of immersion blenders

The second type of electrical appliance is a modified high-speed mixer, which is equipped with one blade-knife attachment instead of whisks. It can be described as a long handle with a motor inside and a removable attachment. The simplest configuration includes a knife attachment, while more complete ones contain a whisk and other various attachments, bowls (narrow and tall, like a stationary device) and even storage containers. Unlike standard ones, these devices can even chop greens, finely chop onions into cutlets, turn small amounts of meat into minced meat, and even transform dried pieces of bread into breadcrumbs. And this is only using a standard nozzle. The advantage of such a device is that the volume of products to be processed is not limited; the blender can be immersed either in a small cup or in a large pan, preparing puree soup for the whole family at one time. Bowls and containers should be chosen with high walls to avoid splashing.

When using this type of device, you also need to follow simple rules:

  • the device should not run idle, as it overheats very quickly;
  • Do not grind solid foods without juice or liquid or immerse them in boiling water;
  • solid foods need to be processed in small portions;
  • if you need to chop a large volume of food, take breaks from work;
  • After use, rinse the nozzle thoroughly with water to prevent pieces of food from drying on it.

The last rule applies to all blenders; after use, they must be cleaned, the attachment washed, and the body wiped with a damp cloth, without touching the metal contacts. The work process itself does not cause difficulties, so it is easy to understand in practice how to use a blender.

What to cook with a blender and its attachments

If you bought such a device yourself, then you probably already have plans for what to cook with it. But there are times when the device is given as a gift, and you do not know what is being done with the blender. The main job that the device can handle is preparing any puree, including soup, cocktails and drinks. Using a standard attachment, you can prepare various sauces (for example, pesto) and gravies, grind meat into minced meat, even chicken with skin, onions and garlic into cutlets, turn breadcrumbs into breading, grind coffee, crush ice, prepare pate or mix mayonnaise. Using the whisk attachment, the whites can be easily beaten and a homogeneous dough will be mixed. It happens that the blender is equipped with a bowl that will make it easier for preparing soups, cutlets, beautiful design ready meals.

Blender is a great helper for young mothers

If you still doubt whether you need such a device, you should not purchase it. But if you are a young mother, then you can’t do without it. When the time comes to introduce complementary foods to the baby, the blender will become an indispensable assistant. You can chop very small portions so that your baby can enjoy freshly prepared food every time. The blender will grind boiled vegetables, fruits, meat with a small amount broth - you decide for yourself how to pamper your growing body. And if your baby is already asking to try your food, but can’t chew yet, just chop up some of your soup or main dish for him. Young people quickly figure out how to use a blender.

And a couple more tips on choosing a device:

  • When buying a blender, pay attention to the material from which they are made. small parts. It is better to use metal knives, stainless steel or Do not skimp on your health and the longevity of the device: plastic attachments break quickly.
  • Look around your kitchen and choose a place where the appliance will be installed (if it is a stationary blender). Many kitchens have very little work space, so it is worth purchasing a device that performs as many functions as possible and replaces several appliances. Also pay attention that the design and color are in harmony with the kitchen decoration.
  • Based on the number of people in the family: a large family will require a high-power device with a large bowl.

Devices from different manufacturers differ little from each other in the method of use, so the instructions on how to use the Philips blender are similar to any others (Bosch, Brown, Scarlet, Moulinex, Vitek, Polaris etc.).

In order to prepare delicious and beautiful food at home, modern technologies have provided everything the necessary conditions. Just 10-15 years ago there was no talk about making a cocktail at home. Today this is the standard “good morning” procedure. And all thanks to such a wonderful device as a blender. Let's figure out how to use a blender and enjoy the cooking process regardless of the circumstances.

How to use a stand blender

Congratulations! You bought a blender. Now open the box and carefully examine the contents. See what your unit looks like. What type of crusher and beater do you prefer?

Stationary blender. This device can be safely called self-sufficient. There are practically no flaws in it. Well, except for the limited size of the bowl. You simply place it on the table, connect the plug to the electrical outlet, load the food (pre-cut into cubes), press the button and watch the process.

Using this type of unit brings nothing but pleasure. But there are some things that are strictly prohibited, namely:

  1. Underload or overload the blender. Do not throw a couple of pieces of meat on the bottom and do not stuff the unit right up to the lid.
  2. Upload to plastic container for whipping/crushing hot products, as the bowl will quickly become unusable.
  3. Leave the bowl lid open while the unit is operating. Yes, this happens too. And the consequences of this mistake remain on the walls, floor and even ceiling. But you still have to eliminate them.

Before you start using the unit, be sure to read the instructions. Spending 10 minutes of time will save you from unpleasant surprises.

How to use an immersion (hand) blender

This device is created for those who like to keep everything under control. The pleasant feeling of heaviness while cooking and the understanding that not a single detail will escape your eyes is a real pleasure.

Well, if we talk about more mundane things, a hand blender is a practical thing. You can work with it in any container and with any products, well, almost. It is not recommended to grind nuts, coffee, or ice with a submersible unit. But if necessary, add a little water to the bottom of the bowl.

How to use a manual unit? Rather, write down a few secrets.

  1. Usually the submersible device is equipped with a bowl for processing food, but if you decide to use a different container, take the deepest one. Then you won’t be afraid of splashes (and you can’t live without them), and cleaning will take less time.
  2. The food being processed should cover the bottom of the blender foot. This is the minimum that can be whipped/cut.
  3. Do not use the device for processing hot food (freshly removed from the stove). Let them cool (at least to 70 degrees) and only then continue cooking.
  4. Before whipping the fruit puree, remove the seeds from the ingredients.
  5. If you are in doubt about which product to use which speed, start with the minimum speed and gradually increase it.
  6. Using a blender to make mashed potatoes is not recommended. It will turn out tasteless.
  • Any self-respecting manufacturer will definitely equip the device with a whisk. Of course, the unit, alas, will not be able to beat egg whites for mousse (a fluffy, dense, homogeneous mass), but it will prepare a batter or a cocktail.

How to use blender attachments

Immersion blenders are often equipped with additional attachments. And it is not always clear what they are needed for and where they can be used. We'll explain.

So, the main attachment for grinding vegetables, fruits and meat is placed on the leg. You can’t go anywhere without her, because the lion’s share of the work lies with her. The kit may also include a chopper - a small container (100-150 ml) with blades. It is designed for processing nuts, seeds and other hard products.

Manufacturers often provide hand blenders with a whisk for whipping. Of course, you won’t get the same effect as from a mixer, but you will certainly whip up the batter for pancakes. High-end models often come with a variety of chopping attachments, turning the manual unit into a food processor.

The stationary blender is a different story. It will not beat eggs and the most you can get in the package is an attachment for crushing ice. If it is not there, it means that it is strictly forbidden to process ice or frozen juice in the unit.

In fact, the answer to the question “how to use a blender correctly?” easier to find than you think. Everything you are interested in is written in the instructions, which are an integral part of any blender. In it, the manufacturer indicated all the features of using the unit, which will help you cook deliciously and keep the device in working order for many years.
