If you decide to level your walls, then after applying the finishing layer, do not forget to prime it. It is very important! Otherwise, when wallpapering, the walls will become dusty and crumble, which will lead to poor adhesion of the wallpaper to the wall. And worse, when applying glue to the wall, the plaster may begin to roll off. Use special mixtures sold in stores for this. And if you want to save money, you can use simple PVA glue, 2 cups of glue per bucket of water (from personal experience, excellent primer).
The whole point of preparation comes down to making the walls as smooth and even as possible. Take the time to inspect your walls. Remove all adhered specks and other small debris, as after wallpapering they will appear and will be unsightly. You should be especially careful in this regard when gluing thin wallpaper.
The walls must be strong, clean and dry.
We dilute the glue according to the instructions on the package. I used Quelyd "Special Vinyl" adhesive for vinyl and textile wallpaper.
It is diluted: 1 package per 4-4.5 liters of water and is designed for 6 rolls. To dilute, use a suitable container, measure the required amount of liquid into it and, stirring continuously, add dry glue.
Let it disperse a little for 15 minutes, then mix it thoroughly again and you can glue the wallpaper.

Step 1. We close all windows and doors to prevent drafts.
Step 2. We calculate how many vertical stripes we can fit on one wall. To do this, measure the length of the wall and divide the resulting size by the width of the wallpaper.
My wall length was 3.7 m (3700 mm), and the width of the wallpaper was 0.54 m (540 mm). Total 3700/540 = 6.85. Thus, I have 6 whole stripes and one with an undercut on my wall.
We cut 7 strips according to the height of the room plus 50 mm. for trimming from above and below.
Similar calculations can be made for the other three walls and wallpaper can be cut for the entire room at once.
Step 3. We mark the vertical line for the correct orientation of the first strip.
We retreat from the edge of the wall (I walked from the passage, yours may be from the corner) 500 mm (the distance is slightly less than the width of the strip, so that later, if the corner of the room is a little “cluttered,” you can correct it by trimming the first strip) and put a mark. To mark the vertical line of the strip stickers, we use a plumb line (you can just use a thread with a weight tied to it) or a building level.
We apply a plumb line to the wall and combine it with our mark made earlier. Mark a vertical line and connect the points with a straight line. Thus, we have a line from which we will begin gluing the second strip. We do not touch the first strip (near the aisles or in the corners) for now; we leave the outer strips of one wall for last. Step 4. Apply glue to the wall the width of the strip and to the strip of wallpaper, evenly distributing it over the surface using a brush or roller.
Step 5. We glue 1 strip (or rather, we will have a second strip from the edge of the wall or corner, but we are not gluing the first one yet). To do this, starting from the top, carefully apply the strip to the wall. We align the edge of the strip with the drawn vertical line and, using a wide roller, carefully roll the strip to the wall, squeezing out the air trapped between the wall and the strip.
Step 6. We mark the extra length of the strip.
We slightly tear off the strip from the wall and carefully cut off the excess.
This operation can be done without tearing off the strip, but using a stationery knife to cut off the excess. Ultimately we get this picture.

Step 7. We repeat all the procedures for applying glue to the wallpaper and the wall, and glue the second strip. Only now we join the edge of the strip to the already glued first strip.
Sometimes there are situations when the ceiling is not laid out perfectly straight, and you have to trim the top of the strip a little. To do this, we extend the glued strip slightly upward, creating an overlap on the ceiling.
Using a roller, roll the strip, and using stationery knife or scissors, cut off the excess wallpaper so that the top edge of the strip fits exactly into the corner.
We cut off the excess at the bottom, finally roll the glued strip, rolling it with a wide roller with movements from top to bottom and towards the edge of the strip, as if drawing a Christmas tree with a trunk in the middle of the strip. Using a narrow roller, we roll the seam between the strips and the upper and lower parts of the strip adjacent to the ceiling and floor.

The price of wallpaper will vary depending on its type. The cheapest are paper ones. It is very difficult to peel them off the wall; they will not come off even if you want them to. But they are not durable. Any mechanical impact can lead to deformation. This is especially true for pets who like to sharpen their claws on walls. 
More expensive analogues: vinyl or non-woven ones weigh much more. Therefore, sometimes difficulties arise with gluing them. After the repair is completed, they simply fall off. In this case, you need to choose high-quality and good glue.
It is not advisable to use expensive finishing materials with cheap ones.
Flaws
In addition to its advantages, wallpaper also has disadvantages. During subsequent renovations, it will not be so easy to get rid of the old wallpaper. This is especially true for paper ones.
Despite the fact that now there are washable wallpapers, this does not mean that any dirt can be removed from their surface. They can be cleaned of dirt and dust, but stubborn stains cannot be removed. And if they are also afraid of water, then it is very difficult to remove any contamination.

In addition to paper wallpaper, the modern market already offers many other types. Each of them, in addition to general characteristics there is also own shortcomings and dignity.

Paper
Wallpaper made from paper spread back in Soviet times. This class has the widest range of colors and patterns to choose from. The canvas is made of one layer or several. The more there are, the denser and stronger they are. Also, the texture of the wallpaper can be smooth or embossed. 
In the price segment, paper wallpapers are at the very bottom. Affordable price makes them so popular. The canvas is light and a pleasure to work with, even a beginner can handle it. Another plus is that they breathe. Condensation will not collect under the canvas, which eliminates the formation of mold and mildew.
But the main disadvantage of wallpaper is that it is afraid of water. They cannot be washed; any carelessness can lead to the formation of a stain that cannot be removed.
Non-woven
Non-woven, more durable than paper. The canvas consists of several layers, the bottom of which has a non-woven base. One of the advantages of this type is that they can be painted. If the coating no longer looks like new, then you can simply cover it with a layer of paint. At the same time, the price does not reach exorbitant amounts. 
Non-woven wallpaper is denser, the wall surface does not need to be thoroughly processed, the canvas can hide minor imperfections. This coating does not allow air and steam to pass through, which means it is necessary to additionally treat the wall with an antifungal compound.
Vinyl
Some of the most expensive. In addition, they have a light, but bad smell. However, vinyl ones will last you much longer than others. The fabric is very durable and is not afraid of water. Vinyl wallpapers are in great demand, so they are presented in a wide range on the market.
Acrylic
Acrylic refers to budget types. Their characteristics are more reminiscent of paper ones; their base is made of paper, and acrylic is applied on top. The canvas is very thin, it cannot be washed and over time it will begin to lose its appearance.
Photo wallpaper
Technologies do not stand still. This also applies to finishing. Digital printing allows you to create a canvas with any design. Photo wallpaper will bring originality and comfort to your home. They are inexpensive, the fabric used is durable and wear-resistant. The disadvantage of the canvas is in the drawing. It requires a perfectly flat surface.
Textile
The basis of textile wallpaper can be paper or non-woven. But the top layer imitates various fabrics: velor, silk, jute and others. This coating looks very impressive. Fiberglass

Liquid wallpaper
Despite the name, the material looks more like plaster. They are sold in the form of a homogeneous mass, which is applied to the wall using a spatula. The mixture can then be easily removed with water and can be reused. The coating is afraid of water, so it is covered with a layer of varnish.
Preparation before gluing

Preparing the walls
The walls for wallpaper are carefully prepared. First you need to remove the old coating. Completely clean the surface of even small coating residues. After removal, the wall must be cleaned of stains. Otherwise, they may remain on the wallpaper. It is better to wash the wall with warm soapy water. After cleaning, the walls are puttied, primed and plastered.
Preparing wallpaper and glue
Before gluing, the wallpaper is cut. Roll out the roll and mark the desired length. Usually 5 centimeters are added to the length of the walls. After application, take it carefully and fold it without bending it. Climb the stepladder and unfold the canvas. Gluing is done from top to bottom. You can level it using a rag or roller. From the center to the edges, move the rag, directing from top to bottom.
Watch the bottom edge so that it doesn't stick before you get to the area.
Remove excess glue immediately. Then glue the remaining canvases, joining each other. After application, you can additionally coat the edges with a brush.
Possible difficulties
Angles
Wallpapering the corners depends on how evenly you pasted the walls. If the work was done carefully, gluing the corners will be easy. If the angle is even, then the canvas is glued in the same way as on the rest of the surface, end-to-end. If distortions occur, the canvas is glued overlapping the corner by about 2 cm. 
The next canvas is glued, butting end to end to the corner under the bottom of the previous one. Then we run a knife along the edge of the first canvas and remove the remaining part of the canvas.
Window openings
The canvas is glued overlapping onto the jamb. Then an incision is made and the wallpaper is pressed tightly against the wall. The excess is trimmed off with a knife.
