Standard sizes for door frames. Dimensions of the door frame of an interior door. Dependence of the door frame on the opening

What is a door frame everyone knows. It is a component of any input or interior block, to which the sash is attached. The strength and durability of the door depends on the quality of this product, so when choosing, you should not only take into account the dimensions of the opening into which the door jamb will be installed, but also the material from which it is made and the thickness of the timber. Since there is no single state standard size on the door, the task of optimal selection gets a little complicated. Most door manufacturers offer their products in a complete set, which greatly simplifies the situation. But let’s assume that this is not the case for you...

Door frames are purchased and installed when the isolation of one room in an apartment from another will be carried out using swing-type structures. For interior and interior products, types of molded door frames are frames made from types of wood that are characterized by minimal fluctuations in their overall dimensions depending on the relative humidity in the room. Most often this is wooden frame from larch or linden. Pine is considered less suitable material. It is not recommended to order or purchase door jambs made of alder, hornbeam, beech, oak (the latter option will be too expensive, and other types of wood may warp under the influence of excess or insufficient moisture in the air). Separately, it should be mentioned that these products are made of steel or impact-resistant and water-resistant plastic. They have limited use: they are either a box for front door, or (plastic) - for the bathroom or toilet.

The choice of size and design depends on:

  1. Designs – double, single, one and a half.
  2. Overall dimensions (length, depth, height).
  3. Proposed location for the opening.
  4. The presence or absence of a threshold.

Design features

The frame for a door without a threshold has a U-shaped design, which includes two vertical posts. The height of these elements is the same, and they are connected to each other using a crossbar. Such products are quite flexible in their installation, since they can be used in conjunction with sash of different heights (for example, when ordered individually). Besides, they are cheaper. Constructions of the second type also have their advantages - with a rectangular frame, where a threshold is already provided. This option is more preferable in a practical sense, since it reduces the complexity of installation work. If the door jamb is intended for the opening of a bathroom or toilet, it must have a threshold, since it protects against possible leaks and unpleasant odors.

The door jamb is supplied with trim and extensions. The first ones allow you to refine the finished doorway, and the latter will be needed when the thickness of the wall in the room differs markedly from the depth of the box.

Door wooden box classified according to the following parameters:

  • by type of platbands: simple or telescopic;
  • by configuration: with or without additional elements;
  • according to the design of the racks: with or without a sealing profile;
  • according to the method of installing the fittings - overhead or embedded.

A door jamb with telescopic platbands, since it assumes easy reinstallation when executing repair work. Dismantling a structure with platbands nailed or glued is more difficult to do.

How to choose the correct product sizes

Standard sizes door designs domestic production(the same is also adopted in Italy, Spain and Finland) is characterized by the following parameters:

  1. Width door leaf, mm – 550,600,700,800,900.
  2. Height, mm – 1900,2000, 2100.
  3. Thickness door frame, mm - 20...75.

Such a significant range of thickness is explained by the characteristics of the walls in the premises. For example, for walls made of plasterboard or brick, products with a depth of 75 mm are considered ideal: they are easier to install, and if the difference is minor, you can always use additional elements.

  1. If the single door you like is made in France, then you should know: there the standard width dimensions are 690, 790, 890 mm.
  2. Doors less than 600 mm wide may be non-functional for bathrooms and kitchens if it is periodically necessary to bring in dimensional space. household appliances(fridge, washing machine etc.).

If it is necessary to determine the dimensions of door frames for existing doors, the following should be taken into account:

  • door color scheme;
  • finishing method (veneer and its texture);
  • whether the door is equipped with an automatic, retractable threshold or not;
  • is the door equipped hydraulic device for automatic closing.

Sequence for selecting size parameters

The initial data are the dimensions of the opening and the place where it is supposed to be installed. The box should usually be no more than 20–25 mm larger around the perimeter than the corresponding sash size. If the floors in the room have not yet been laid, then you should definitely take into account the height of the screed and the type of coating. Additional restrictions are possible: for example, if the room has water or infrared heated floors.

The width of the door frame must be linked to the height of the ceilings: sometimes the characteristics of the load-bearing coating in a house or apartment make it impossible to install a door frame with the required dimensions. A special case is when the product is installed in a room with plasterboard partitions. If you are not the first owner of the property, then it would be good to find out from the previous owner the layout of the metal supporting profiles on which the plasterboard slabs were installed. Otherwise, an unpleasant surprise may await you in the form of unforeseen work to reinstall part of the wall of the room.

In accordance with the parameters of the opening, standard domestic dimensions of the door frame are taken into account as follows:

  1. The double thickness of the beam is added to the known width of the sash; it should be taken into account that the cross-sectional profile of the box is L-shaped.
  2. The protruding part of the seal, with a thickness of 300 mm and a height of 25–30 mm, is taken into account, as well as the supporting surface for the beam. The exact difference in height dimensions is determined by the thickness of the doors themselves.
  3. Next, add a 20–25 mm gap for mounting the box, and compare the result obtained with the existing dimensions of the opening.

It is better to subsequently slightly widen the opening than to artificially narrow it later with additions or additional wooden planks and other structures that will ultimately reduce the strength of the structure and will contribute to heat leakage through inevitable leaks.

In the same way, but taking into account the threshold, the dimensions of the product in height are taken into account.

Advice. When taking measurements, it is necessary, in order to avoid distortions, to use a laser or at least a regular level.

Difficulties in installation when there is a large difference between the door jamb and the opening

The greatest problems with installing a door frame arise when the opening differs sharply from the depth of the product (more than 10%). In such cases, it is necessary to install slopes, or, which is less rational, to make longitudinal sawing of the timber with an artificial reduction in its thickness (no more than 10–15 mm!). Such an operation will require certain skill and the use of high-quality tools.

Installing extensions justifies itself in cases where the opening does not have exact dimensions in height and width (this does not apply to concrete and brick surfaces). Then measurements are made no less than three points, and the average value is taken into account. It is better to purchase plastic extensions: they are more flexible and adhere more easily to the main surface. The color and texture of the surface of additional elements must fully correspond to the material of the structure.

Small (up to 20–25 mm) gaps between the opening and the frame can be easily closed by installing wide trims. The range of such products in specialized supermarkets is large, so choosing the appropriate size will not be particularly difficult.

Important! You should not purchase those types of door frames that are made by combining wood elements with MDF, multi-layer plywood, etc. The difference is physical and mechanical properties materials with a high degree of probability can lead to warping of the product, and as a result – to difficulties with high-quality closure.

In order to bring the production of interior elements to a single standard, standard sizes were introduced and approved at the state level interior doors. This greatly simplifies the selection of products if they need to be replaced. It is enough to correctly measure the parameters of a typical opening and buy a suitable model.

If there are no problems with domestically produced products, then when purchasing an imported interior door, a difficult situation may arise, since in foreign countries there is a different standard. In addition, when purchasing alternative types of doors (double doors, sliding doors, hidden doors), you need to know some of their design features.

State standards

There are certain approved state standards (GOST), according to which domestic producers manufacture interior interior elements. These are GOST 6629-88, as well as SNiPs 21-7, 21-8, 21-9, 21-10, 21-13. For ease of review, this data is summarized in a table that displays the most common standards:

If the choice falls on a product of imported origin, then the dimensions of the interior door can be checked for compliance with European standards DIN 18100-18102, as well as DIN4172, which indicate the clear dimensions of the opening:

These dimensions must be taken into account if you are planning to order, for example, an Italian door. Most likely, imported models will have non-standard dimensions, which should be taken into account when laying doorways during the construction planning process or overhaul.

For doorways with a height exceeding 2000-2040 mm, our own standards have been developed, indicated in the table below.

In developing state standards the needs of the main segment of the population living in standard buildings are taken into account. In choosing standard models of one size or another, it also plays an important role. functional purpose. In other words, the place in the apartment where this product will be located is important. In accordance with this requirement, the dimensions of the canvas, design features, and equipment with special fittings are selected.

The nuances of correct opening measurement

In some cases, it becomes necessary to independently measure the parameters to purchase an interior door. This happens if the house or apartment is located at a great distance from the manufacturing company, in another city or in another state. Self-measurement is also carried out in cases where there is no time to wait for a surveyor’s visit or it is more convenient for the customer to take the dimensions on their own. Regardless of the reason, this event must be carried out as accurately as possible so that the selected model fits perfectly into the existing opening without the need to adjust it. This means that the height, width and thickness of the interior door leaf should be as close as possible to the corresponding parameters of the opening. To carry out correct measurements, you should focus on the following rules.

Determining the width of the opening.

To do this, measure the distance between the walls at the narrowest point of the opening. If the wall becomes narrower closer to the door, then you need to measure in this part. In the case of a uniform wall width without narrowing, the location where the width is measured is not of fundamental importance. If the old door has not yet been dismantled, then the measured distance from the middle of one platband to the middle of the opposite platband is the width of the interior doors.

Determining the height of the opening.

To determine the indicator of this dimension, it is necessary to measure the distance from the point of the finished floor to the lowest point of the upper part of the opening. If the doorway narrows closer to the hinges, then the measurement should be taken in this area. If the height of the opening is uniform, then the location of the measurement is not critical. The easiest way is to take measurements using the old door, if it has not yet been dismantled. In this case, the height of the interior doors will be equal to the distance from the middle of the upper trim to the zero point of the finished floor.

Determining the depth of the opening.

To do this, you will need to measure the thickness of the wall in which the doorway is located. This will be the depth of the opening. The measurement should be made in three sections: in the upper, middle and lower on both walls. This meticulous event is necessary in order to identify the widest place in the wall. If the old door has not been dismantled, then it is necessary to measure the dimensions of the frame and the wall (thickness), if it protrudes beyond the frame. To correctly measure the three key dimensions, it is best to use the services of a professional. Possessing a body of knowledge, the installation specialist will take perfect measurements and give practical recommendations on choosing a standard or non-standard interior door. We remind you that when ordering doors from the Porta prima company, a visit from a specialist to measure dimensions and consultation on the choice of door leaf is absolutely free.

Formulas for measuring door leaves

Often a situation arises where you need to make a doorway, but the choice of door leaf model has not yet been made. In this case, to measure the parameters of the opening, the following points must be taken into account:

  • dimensions of the door leaf (width, height, thickness);
  • box dimensions (thickness, width);
  • indicator of the width of the platbands.

For greater clarity, an example of calculating the dimensions of a doorway will be given.

Let’s assume that a standard size door leaf will be used for installation, having the following dimensions:

  • Airborne – door leaf height – 2000 mm;
  • Шдв – standard width of an interior door – 70 0 mm.

With these parameters interior product a box will be installed, the thickness of which (Tk) will be 30 mm. Magnitude installation gap(Mz) will be equal to 10 mm, and the value of the door block (Bd) will be equal to 20 mm. With these standard values, the threshold height (Vp) will be 20 mm.

Formula for calculating the opening width of a future door:

W of the opening = Wdv + 2×Tk + Mz +2×Bd = 700 + 2×30 + 10 + 2×20 = 810 mm.

The height of the opening is calculated using the following expression:

Opening = Vdv + Vp + 2× Tk = 2000 + 20 + 2×30 = 2080 mm.

Therefore, for an interior door leaf with dimensions of 2000 × 700 mm, it will be necessary to make a doorway 2080 × 810 mm.

The door frame is manufactured according to the standard opening depth of 7.5 mm. If the thickness of the interior door leaf does not correspond to this indicator, you must either order the frame according to custom sizes, or use additions in the design. Therefore, it is recommended to make calculations in advance.

How to calculate whether a door will fit into an opening?

This is a common situation when choosing standard door to the existing opening. Usually a good clue to choose is the labeling door products, which indicates the main dimensions.

At this stage, doubts may arise whether the product is suitable and whether additional difficulties will arise in its installation.

To dispel doubts, you need to reason as follows:

  • Let's say we have a doorway of 900 × 2040 mm, which corresponds to the standard.
  • Calculating the width: indicator standard width We fold 800 mm sheets with the thickness of the box (on both sides) and construction intervals of 15 mm. Please note that there is an interval to the left and right of the door, so you need to multiply it by two. When calculating, we get 880 mm.
  • We calculate the height using a similar scheme. The leaf height of 2000 mm is added to the box thickness of 25 mm and the upper installation distance of 15 mm. We get the value 2040 mm.

Therefore, an interior door with a standard size of 800 × 2000 mm will ideally fit into a typical opening with dimensions of 900 × 2040 mm. This once again proves the need to create state standards in the construction industry. You can safely buy a standard product without worrying about whether it will fit.

What to do if the door is selected incorrectly?

However, there are situations when the purchased canvas with the box was chosen inaccurately. When a purchase cannot be returned objective reason, you can use some construction tricks:

  • when only a few millimeters are missing in the width or height of the doorway, you can carefully cut a wider hole in the wall;
  • if the box is narrower than the wall thickness, it is recommended to use an extension that will cover the prominent area of the wall thickness;
  • if the thickness of the box is much narrower than the dimensions of the doorway, then along the perimeter of the box (except for the bottom) they form an even slope;
  • If the above methods are not acceptable, it is recommended to order doors according to individual non-standard parameters.

At Porta prima you can buy high-quality standard interior doors or order individual design according to your project. Prices are reasonable and consistent high quality interior doors.

Sooner or later, every apartment owner has to face the problem of a major overhaul, during which it will be necessary to replace door frames for interior doors. The task of installing a door frame into a doorway does not require any specific carpentry skills, the main thing is attention and accuracy in work.

How to install a door frame, sequence of operations

Any work on replacing door frames begins with studying the width and condition of the walls, the old door and the opening. Often the walls themselves, brick and concrete require cosmetic repairs, finishing and restoration of plaster, therefore, before assembling the door frame, it is necessary to remove the trim and restore the integrity of the brickwork.

The procedure for installing the door frame of an interior door is simple, and its implementation requires several simple operations:

  • They remove the door and saw it hand hacksaw loot in width and carefully disassemble old box, clearing the doorway;
  • Measure the width of the doorway in at least four places. If you plan to install new door larger width, you will need to trim the vertical walls of the opening using a grinder and a hammer drill. But this must be done extremely carefully so as not to break the brickwork;
  • Measure the exact width and height of the new door. Measure the required dimensions of the doorway on the wall, taking into account allowances for the thickness of the boards and the width of the gaps. The total width of the opening will be determined as the width of the door frame of the interior door plus 25 mm on the side for mounting elements and foam;
  • Mark the timber or board purchased for assembling the frame, file the joints on the jambs, pre-sew them with self-tapping screws and try them on the new door. Install the frame in the doorway, check the width and secure with self-tapping screws and foam.

Advice! If you are not completely confident in your skills and precise understanding of how to install and fasten a door frame, you can take part in the process of replacing a door frame with neighbors or friends, do a test cut with your own hands, or watch a video, for example:

Which door frame option to choose

Factory-made interior doors are often produced and sold with a set of door frames of standard width in disassembled form. This option saves you from having to select the width of the frame yourself, but there is no guarantee that the door frame is assembled correctly. Therefore, often a door of the required width is purchased separately, and a board or fiberboard-MDF boards are purchased separately. Standard dimensions of door frames - thickness and width of doors are shown in the table:

In addition, when choosing the size of the material for building a door, it is necessary to take into account that the thickness of the door frame of an interior door is a standard value, but the width of the walls, even within the same apartment, can vary greatly. Therefore, for each interior door you have to check the width of the doorway, draw up your own passport with the dimensions and, if necessary, buy additional elements that allow you to expand the width of the door to the width of the walls.

To make a door frame or door frame of the required width, the following is most often used:

  1. Ready-made profile made of pressed fiberboard or MDF;
  2. A profiled pine board of suitable width, the surface of which is sanded to a laminate quality or covered with a polymer film.

If you have a choice, use profiled boards from coniferous species wood This material has good workability, high strength, and does not absorb moisture like pressed materials made from paper and wood fibers.

For your information! A self-tapping screw screwed into wood according to the rules will provide 100% of the connection strength; a similar fastener for pressed paper provides 30% of the design strength of the fastener.

In addition, a pine frame will allow you to install heavier doors, for example, from MDF, glass or solid wood. Wood-fiber materials are suitable only for the lightest cardboard structures.

We install a door frame of standard width

Before cutting the vertical and horizontal elements of the box, you need to decide on the method of connecting the boards or timber into one structure. The most durable and easiest to manufacture is the tongue-and-groove joint. To do this, cut out two blanks of vertical posts - the hinged and recessed parts. To the calculated length of the rack it is necessary to add twice the thickness of the workpiece. In a similar way, mark and cut out the lintel beam. On the lintel using a drill and a hacksaw, tenons are cut out at both ends; on the vertical posts, the lintels are marked along the finished tenons and the mating part is cut in the form of grooves. The threshold is made in the same way.

If the width of the wall is greater than the thickness of the box, the boards are built up with additional elements, as in the diagram.

If the width of the opening in the wall is larger than the size of the box, in this case outer part loots, from the side of the loop or hinged beam, an additional beam section is sewn on, as in the diagram. If the width of the opening is too large, the front part of the box is also supplemented in a similar way.

On the side, the holes are made on the door leaf laid horizontally. After adjusting all the parts and aligning the corners of the box, the joints are glued and connected with carpentry screws. To preserve the resulting geometry of the door, the structure is sheathed with wooden planks - spacers, carefully removed from the door leaf and installed in the doorway.

Door frame installation

The chute will be installed correctly if every movement or alignment is controlled using a building level. Due to its low rigidity, the structure “plays”, so immediately after installation, the box opening is slightly wedged with thin wooden blocks. To prevent the sidewalls and ceiling beams from being squeezed into the frame, use a pair of wooden spacers, as in the photo.

The box is pre-aligned according to the readings of the level gauge and notches are made on the walls; in the future, they will help to quickly restore the previous position of the box. Wooden structure fasten to the wall using long self-tapping screws, for heavy doors anchors can be used.

On the ceiling and vertical posts, use an electric drill to drill two thin holes, 0.5 mm smaller than the diameter of the self-tapping screw. Next, we remove the loot, punch holes according to the drill marks on the walls and install dowels under 6-millimeter self-tapping screws.

We return the loot to its place, insert the screws and tighten it by 10-15 mm. After this, using the level we restore correct position box and screw in the fasteners the entire length. We fill the gap between the timber and the wall with foam.

Conclusion

Before the foam hardens, it is necessary to once again check the position of the door frame according to the building level data, and, if necessary, carefully knock in the place of deviation. After polyurethane foam will gain half the stiffness, you need to tighten the screws again and close the caps with decorative caps. After installing the canopies, we attach the platbands.

For interior decoration of residential premises great importance interior doors play. A door is a kind of “barrier” that allows you to separate one room from another. In this case, the width of the door frame must be chosen correctly so that there are no obstacles when moving people, moving furniture and other objects.

When, the width can be chosen in standard sizes or larger/smaller, taking into account the purpose of the room and the desires of its owner. For houses and apartments, it is recommended to make room openings smaller than for the entrance to the home.

The standard size for the width of the entrance door leaf is chosen to be more than 800 millimeters. Interior doors have widths: 600, 700, 800 millimeters.

Size dependence

Sometimes owners deliberately expand the opening to 900 millimeters.

Tip: When designing and installing a passage in a room, you should consider that the furniture large sizes It is very difficult to bring into a passage 600 millimeters wide. The optimal size is 800 millimeters. The same dimensions should be chosen for the bathroom, which will allow you to bring in without any problems. washing machine and other large equipment.

Standard dimensions are shown in the table:

The table shows that the canvas is selected at least 7 cm smaller than the doorway. But, the thickness of the door frame must also be taken into account.

So, for example, if the thickness is 30 millimeters, which corresponds to minimum size, it is enough to increase the width of the opening by only 6 centimeters. But for veneered or telescopic boxes this will not be enough. They have a greater thickness, plus an additional gap for blowing foam.

Opening measurement

Height measurement

For those who like to do everything with their own hands and reduce the cost of work, we offer short instructions to help you correctly and quickly measure the doorway:

  • Measurements should be taken on bare walls. To do this, remove the door leaf and frame before starting work.
  • The distance between the walls is measured in several places: top, bottom and center. The smallest value is recorded.

Tip: If it was not possible to dismantle the elements, you need to measure the first one or the size from the center of one of the trims to the middle of the other. This will give approximate figures for the size of the opening.

Width Measurement

  • The distance is measured from the lowest point of the floor to the top of the opening or the gap between the floor and the center of the platband is calculated if the box could not be removed.

Measuring scheme

  • The depth of the opening is equal to the width of the wall. Therefore, the width of each wall is measured: on both sides of the opening and on top, or the thickness of the door frame is measured, and the wall protruding beyond it is added to it, if there is one.

Size calculation

After taking measurements, you can correctly calculate the size of the door leaf.

This takes into account:

  • The height of the door leaf and its width.
  • Thickness and width of the door frame.
  • Width of platbands.
  • If there is a threshold, its dimensions.

As an example, we take the calculation for a door leaf with dimensions:

  • Height – 2 meters.
  • Width – 80 centimeters.
  • The thickness of the door frame is 25 millimeters.

When calculating the dimensions, it is necessary to add the thickness of the box on both sides to the width. In addition, the calculation also takes into account the installation gaps on each side, approximately 15-20 millimeters.

In this case, the width will be equal to: 800+25+25+15+15=880 millimeters. An example for calculation is shown in the photo.

Width calculation scheme

This width is almost perfect option for manufacturers of interior doors. The doors are easily installed in standard sizes of residential openings.

The height is calculated in a similar way, taking into account the installation gaps and the presence of a threshold. The height of the doorway will be: 2000+25+10+15=2050 millimeters.

As a result, for a door leaf with dimensions of 2 x 0.8 meters, the opening in the wall is 2.05 x 0.88.

What is the thickness of door frames? Typically the standard size is 75 millimeters. This must be taken into account when installing the door.

Otherwise, you will need to use a box expander or saw it lengthwise. In this case, problems may arise during the subsequent installation of platbands, which will lead to damage appearance doors.

To determine the parameters of the wall, you need to measure its thickness on all sides in three places. If the parameters around the perimeter of the doorway are the same, products with non-standard sizes are ordered. If the thickness at these points is different, the door frame is sawn or an extension is installed.

Watching the video in this article will allow you to correctly calculate the opening for installing the door leaf, taking into account the style, characteristics of materials, and operating conditions.

Purpose of the additional element

The additional element is a strip that is used to expand the timber of the used frame for the opening.

It is used to cover a section of the wall that is not hidden by the frame beam. The width of the required extension is calculated by measuring the thickness of the wall in the door opening, and the width of the frame beam is subtracted from the resulting value.

The standard width of an interior door frame is 7 centimeters. If the wall is thicker, additional installation is required. An exception is the use of “L” shaped trims.

Tip: When purchasing doors, you need to take into account the largest size of the wall thickness at the opening. Otherwise, the box will be smaller than the width of the wall. In this case, the platband will not fit tightly on the wall and frame.

If such a defect occurs, you need to use alabaster or gypsum mortar to cover the gap.

The width of the extension is equal to or greater than the part of the wall to be covered. For example, if the wall width is 12 centimeters, and the boxes are 8, an addition of at least 4 is required.

Features of the selection

Before installing the strips on the door frame, you should familiarize yourself with the advantages of installing them:

  • High speed of installation of an expanded door block.
  • There are no “wet” finishing processes that are unfavorable for wood.
  • Long period between regular repairs.
  • Aesthetics, which ensures integrity and beautiful view door design.
  • Low price of planks.

The three components of the extender-extension, assembled into a single whole, resemble the letter P; it can be attached:

  • Straight to the door frame.
  • To the wall, where the opening is installed.
  • On the mounting beam placed between the extensions and vertical planes opening.

If there is no special mechanical load on the extensions, only liquid nails can be used to fix them into a specially made recess. But more often galvanized self-tapping screws are used for installation.

Tip: If the fixation is performed from the front side, it is necessary to hide the fastener heads with mastics or plugs matched to the tone of the box.

Types of additions

To furnish your home, you can purchase the following doors:

  • With boxes in which a groove was pre-selected on the outside for proper alignment with the extensions.

For this you can use wood chips or wooden planks, one centimeter thick. The width of the panel strips is measured with a box mounted into the opening, which will be the basis of the structure. In this case, the element is nailed with reverse side openings with galvanized small nails in increments of 20 to 35 centimeters. You can insert the strips into the recess and then fix them in the opening of the box with glue.

  • Without groove with box beam. In this case you can:
  1. choose a groove using a machine with a special straight cutter yourself;
  2. attach the extensions to the box beam through pre-drilled screws from the end of the element;

Tip: For attaching additional strips to the box, the diameter through holes not the same along the entire length. First, the drill is taken with a diameter equal to the screw head, then according to the size of its barrel.

  1. additional elements are installed on bars screwed to the wall with self-tapping screws. The first of them is located 200 millimeters from the floor, and then in increments of 60 centimeters;
  2. the extensions with the box “sit” inside the base of plywood or plasterboard;
  3. a box beam without a groove is connected to the planks by installing a rail that runs with outside opening along the alignment line;
  4. a lath or plank made of plywood is attached around the perimeter not in a continuous strip, but in separate sections.

The timber and trim strips are nailed to the rail. In this case, the central axis of the rail and the connection line must coincide or have a slight offset.

After assembly, the outer line of the extensions is flush with the opening. Excess up to one millimeter is trimmed off with a plane, and then everything is closed with cash.

Installation of accessories

Usually top bar, combined with the lintel, is superimposed on two vertical parts.

To calculate its length, you need to add two thicknesses of additional racks to the size of the lintel. But you can also place the bar between them. In this case, the length of the lintel trim is selected according to the width of the box, and to the heights of the left and right vertical elements the thickness of the top bar is added.

Installation procedure:

  • With scrupulous accuracy, measurements are taken according to the scheme that corresponds to the chosen method of fastening.

Tip: For right and left extensions, the vertical size is measured separately. In this case, the inner line of the future plank should be measured according to the box, and the outer line in the opening after the fact.

  • The board is cut according to measurements and according to the construction diagram.
  • All three additional elements are attached to the assembled door frame.
  • When attaching the slats to a box that is not installed in the opening, it is installed together with them.
  • Mounting wedges are placed between the wall and the door base and they are used to align the device in the opening.
  • The installation gap is blown in with foam before installing the spacer wedges, between the box beams and the extensions.
  • Foaming of the entire space is carried out in portions, in at least two steps. Adjustments to the curing process are controlled while the foam cures.
  • The work is completed by sealing the gap formed between wooden parts both the floor and the installation of platbands.

A correctly executed door frame expansion allows you to create any opening quickly and efficiently. This is especially important when it is difficult to select a standard ready-made design.

The first thing you need to pay attention to when purchasing interior or metal doors is their size. Its choice depends on the purpose of the structure and the existing opening into which it will be installed. In this case, not only the dimensions of the door leaf are important, but also the door frame.

Standard sizes of interior doors

Domestic and foreign manufacturers offer many different variations in the sizes of interior doors. The most common width values you can find are:

  • 600 mm;
  • 700 mm;
  • 800 mm.

However, there are doors on sale whose width differs from accepted standards. So, you can see canvases of 50 and 55 cm.

For sliding and double doors, the door width will be larger. It can range from 90 centimeters to 1 meter 80 centimeters. Large size doors are made to order.

The standard door leaf height is:

  • 2 meters;
  • 2 meters 30 centimeters.

But you can often find doors 1 meter 90 centimeters high, as well as 2 meters 10 centimeters and 2 meters 20 centimeters.

Standard sizes of metal doors

Entrance metal doors are considered an emergency exit, so they are subject to certain requirements regarding dimensions. They are set out in SNiP and GOST. But their implementation in the manufacture of doors is not necessary, so deviations up or down are possible.

Input width steel doors cannot be less than:

  • 80 cm in private houses and apartments;
  • 120 cm in rooms where the number of people exceeds 15 people.

The height of metal doors must be at least 1 meter 90 centimeters. Standard indicators, as for interior doors, are:

  • 2 meters;
  • 2 meters 30 centimeters.

By individual order You can make custom metal doors. Their height and width will correspond to the size of the opening. But this will affect the weight of the structure, and, consequently, the load on the walls. Therefore, increase the dimensions metal door need to take these features into account.

Width and height of door with frame

Usually doors and frames for them are sold as a set. They are adjusted to size and will not cause problems during installation.

The width of the door together with the frame depends on the width of the door leaf:

  • for a canvas of 800 mm it will be 87 cm;
  • for a 700 mm canvas, the width with the box will be 77 cm;
  • the value for a 600 mm door will be 67 cm.

When calculating, regardless of the size of the leaf 550, 600, 700 or 800 mm, the size of the gaps between the frame and the door is taken into account, which will be the same everywhere. It is equal to 6-8 millimeters, 3-4 millimeters on each side.

The standard height of the door along with the frame will also depend on the height of the door leaf:

  • with a value of 2 meters it will be 2 meters and 7 centimeters;
  • with a value of 2 meters 30 centimeters it will be 2 meters and 37 centimeters.

The calculations take into account the dimensions of the gaps and the threshold. The size of the gap is a constant value, it does not depend in any way on the height of the door.

The height of the threshold must be considered for entrance and interior doors installed at the entrance to bathrooms. For other doors, there must be a gap between the floor and the door leaf. It is 15-20 mm for kitchen doors, if the house uses liquefied gas and 5-10 mm in all other cases. The horizontal gap at the top of the door, like the vertical ones, is 3-4 mm.

The thickness of the door frame can vary from 15 to 45 mm depending on the material and manufacturer. This indicator must be sufficient to ensure reliable fastening and operation of the door.

Door purpose depending on size

The size of the door largely depends on its purpose. The width of 50, 60, 70 or 80 centimeters depends on the room at the entrance to which it will be installed.

The 50 cm wide door is very narrow. It is usually placed at the entrance to utility rooms, such as a pantry or dressing room. For interior doors, 50 centimeters is too narrow a passage. It will not be enough for free movement and movement of furniture. That's why they are made wider than 50 centimeters.

The door, whose width is 600 millimeters, is suitable for installation in the bathroom and toilet in small apartments. It can also be installed at the entrance to the kitchen.

The canvas, the size of which is 70 centimeters wide, is used to separate bedrooms, offices and other rooms. 70 cm is usually enough for comfortable movement around the apartment. This width allows you to carry furniture and other large items. Sometimes you can find interior doors 80 centimeters wide.

The opening at the entrance to the living room is quite wide. Single-leaf and double doors or sliding systems, the width of which can be 90 centimeters or more. However, in small apartments the opening to the living room can be small, designed for a door of 700 or 800 mm.

When doing renovations or construction, think in advance about the size of the metal entrance and interior doors. By making an opening to standard widths of 600, 700, 800 mm or more and heights of 2 and 2.3 m, you do not have to redo the opening or make custom doors.
