Assembling a cassette ceiling. Installation of a cassette ceiling according to the instructions of specialists Many advantages and minimal disadvantages of cassette structures

There are 2 ways to install a closed cassette ceiling - simple and reinforced. At easy installation BT-600 combs are suspended on a conventional spring suspension, and with a reinforced installation method, BT-600 combs are installed on an additional rigid frame made of PP profile.

Sequence of installation of a closed cassette ceiling

Installation of a closed cassette ceiling consists of the following steps:

I. Installation of wall corner (corner profile)

The angular profile of the cassette ceiling is attached along the perimeter of the room to the walls, as when installing other types of suspended ceilings. The horizontal level is determined using laser level or hydraulic level. The corner is nailed to the walls using driven dowels, anchors or self-tapping screws, the fastening interval is no more than 0.5 m.

II. Installation of BT-600 combs

The guide combs are installed in increments equal to the size of the cassette - usually 300mm or 600mm. At in a simple way When installing a cassette ceiling, BT-600 stringer combs are suspended on adjustable spring hangers; during reinforced assembly, the combs are attached to an additional frame pre-assembled from PP profiles.

III. Installing cassettes into combs

The final stage of assembling a closed-type cassette ceiling is installing the panels into the combs. Trimming the cassettes adjacent to the walls to size is carried out using a construction knife and metal scissors. First, the side stiffening ribs of the cassette are trimmed with scissors along the marking line, and then a notch is made along the ruler with a knife. The aluminum cassette breaks easily after several bends along the notch.

There is a misconception that some types of suspended ceilings, such as cassette ceilings, are intended for installation only in office or industrial premises. Those who think so are simply a little behind the times. In fact, a cassette ceiling looks very organic in an apartment, not only in the hallway, kitchen, bathroom, but also in the living room. Ease of maintenance, simple installation and a growing variety of textures and colors of panels make cassette ceilings incredibly attractive. Why not apply this new and innovative solution at home?

What are cassette ceilings?

A cassette ceiling is a structure consisting of guide profiles and decorative modules, or so-called cassettes. In some cases, it additionally includes load-bearing profiles. Such a ceiling is sometimes confused with, although in fact their differences are quite fundamental.

Guides, made of steel or aluminum, are attached in two ways:

  1. Directly to the ceiling using special hangers.
  2. Using mini-hangers to supporting profiles, previously firmly fixed to the base of the ceiling.

The most common ceiling options are square or square cassettes. rectangular shape(30 X 30 and 30 X 60 cm). The height of the suspension system - the distance from the base plate to the ceiling surface - is at least 8 cm.

Aluminum is an ideal material for the production of suspended structures. The main advantages are light weight and corrosion resistance (in air the material is covered with a strong film that prevents oxidation). Aluminum compounds do not emit substances harmful to humans.

A ceiling made of aluminum panels can be decorated in different ways. The front surface of the cassettes may contain:

  • powder layer;
  • lamination;
  • polymer layers of paints (matte and metallic);
  • galvanic layer (mirror - with gold and chrome shades).

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages of aluminum suspension systems:

  • Long service life - ensured by an anodized or laminated layer on the surface of the panels (created additional protection, contributing to the preservation of aesthetic appeal for a long time).
  • Environmentally friendly - the material does not emit harmful substances.
  • Moisture resistance - allows you to install cassette suspended ceilings in rooms with high humidity(kitchen, bathroom) and does easy care behind the surface.
  • Lightweight - installation of a durable frame is not required to install a suspended structure.
  • Sound insulation - to increase sound absorption, an acoustic pad made of a special material is glued to the back side of the metal modules.
  • The ability to lay wires and communications without disturbing the design and general appearance premises.
  • Ease of installation and dismantling of the system, ease of replacement of individual modules.
  • Wide choose design solutions, rich color palette for painting modules.

If the ceiling surface has a mirror effect, then the space of a small bathroom or kitchen is significantly increased visually.

As the only drawback design, we can mention reducing the height of the room by 8–20 cm.

Aluminum cassette ceiling: types of fastenings and features

Fastening metal panels to frame guides can be done in a visible or hidden way.

  • Cassette suspended ceilings open type include a frame of special guides, the cross-section of which resembles an inverted letter T. During installation, cages are formed that correspond to the dimensions of the metal modules. The cassettes are then placed on top of the cells and held in place by horizontal protrusions on the guide elements. The parts of the guides that remain uncovered also have a decorative coating.
  • In a closed type ceiling, the modules are fastened to the frame using special grooves on the load-bearing guide elements. This option involves completely covering the guides with panels and creating the appearance of a solid surface.

The system ensures strong fastening of modules to the guides. Cassette ceilings can be easily installed in any area, from small bathrooms to spacious halls.

What is required to install a closed cassette suspended ceiling?

For proper implementation installation work To install the structure in the kitchen, bathroom, hallway or living room, you will need the following components and tools:

  • Set of aluminum cassettes. If they have standard size 30 X 30 cm, then per 1 sq. m of ceiling you will need 11.1 pieces.
  • L-profiles, or so-called wall corners, having a standard length of 3 m and a thickness of 0.4 mm. The number of parts is calculated taking into account the length of the perimeter of the cassette ceiling.
  • Guides (stringers) 4 m long, made of galvanized steel. This important details, guaranteeing structural rigidity and having special grooves for installing metal cassettes.
  • Mini-suspensions are components designed for hanging supporting guides to a spring suspension/ceiling/supporting profile. They create space between the ceiling and the suspended structure for the location of communications. They are completed at the rate of at least one piece per square meter.
  • Spring hangers are screwed directly to the ceiling and are used when it is necessary to create a large space between the base of the ceiling and the suspended structure. Quantity – from 1 pc. per square meter.
  • Level, tapping cord.
  • Metal knife/scissors for cutting profiles.
  • Screwdriver, hammer drill.
  • Self-tapping screws, dowels.

The most detailed step-by-step guide to installing a cassette ceiling

You can easily install cassette ceilings with your own hands if you use competent and detailed instructions. So, let's begin.

  • Decide on the level of the cassette ceiling and make marks on the wall around the perimeter of the room. It is most convenient to use a chop cord for these purposes.
  • Measure and cut the L-profile to the required length with special metal scissors. Attach it to the wall, focusing on the markings, mark fastening points on the surface with a pencil, the distance between which should be 80 cm. Fasten the profile to the wall using dowels and self-tapping screws with a large head, making holes with a hammer drill.

To join two profiles in the corner of a room, one of them is cut along a measured diagonal line.

  • Installation of guides. Mark the location of the guides on the ceiling: the step between them should correspond to the size of the cassette modules, usually 30 cm.
  • Attach spring hangers to the ceiling at a distance of no more than 1 m from each other. Hang the guides on the hangers.

Important! Maximum distance between the base and the cassette ceiling, in which mini-suspensions can be used – 10 cm. If it is necessary to lower the suspended structure below, spring hangers are used. The stringer is placed 5 mm above the L-profile (this margin will be required for the inserted cassette).

  • Align all guides by adjusting the spring hangers.
  • Proceed to place the cassettes. If the cassette ceiling involves the use of modules of different textures or colors that should form a pattern, focus on the center of the room. Determine the middle of the central guide - from this place you will begin installing the modular elements. If the cassettes are the same, start from the corner of the room.

Be sure to draw a diagram of the arrangement of modules of different colors according to the intended design.

  • Simply insert the cassettes with both sides into the guides. You can move them freely if necessary.
  • If a whole cassette does not fit near the wall, it must be cut to the required size. Cut the edges with the same scissors, bend them over, make an incision assembly knife and bend the cassette along this line, separating the desired part. Remove the adjacent element, install the cut piece of the metal cassette, clamp it using the clamps on the wall corner, then return the removed module to its place.

Install during installation suspended ceiling simple: make a hole in the desired panel using a core drill, attach the cassette to the guides, and insert the lighting fixture. Some manufacturers, such as Caveen, make fixtures that fit the size of a single panel and install in the same way as a regular cassette.

The modern cassette ceiling differs from other methods of decorating the ceiling space due to its strict design, practicality and high-tech design. Essentially, the idea of a ceiling cassette makes the suspended ceiling design versatile and at the same time very easy to assemble and maintain.

Home version of cassette cladding

Types of cassette suspended ceilings

Structurally, such a system is just metal carcass, assembled from individual links or sections and mounted on metal adjustable hangers. Properly assembled components form a grid measuring 60x60 cm for ordinary rooms, or 120x60 cm for non-residential industrial and office premises.

Office design option

Decorative panels-cassettes are mounted into the cells of the frame; according to the method of installing ceiling cassettes, ceilings are divided into two types:

  • Top panel mounting type, or open circuit. In this case, the decorative panel is laid from the side of the ceiling space and is fixed with pressure petals;
  • Bottom type of installation, or closed version, the panel snaps onto the frame from bottom to top.

Distinguish ceilings with different ways installation is quite difficult, at least for a non-specialist, they look the same in appearance.

Diagram of a cassette ceiling

Due to the different mounting method, the designs of the supporting strips or T-profiles also differ. In the first case, the cassette is attached to the edges of the profiled slats thanks to the bent side, in the second case, the panel is fastened to the cassette ceiling by snapping the edges of the cassette into the groove of the bottom flange of the profile.

Important! At first glance, the difference in the method of fastening the panels is not that important, but this is not entirely true. In the first case, the details and traverses of the cassette ceiling always remain visible, while in the second option it becomes possible to design the ceiling cladding in the form of a single plane.

Open circuit

In addition, cassette ceilings are usually distinguished by material and design. decorative panels.

Ceiling materials

They always strive to lighten the design of the frame and panels, make them reliable and as durable as possible, which is why cassette suspended ceilings are almost always made of metal. It is made of galvanized steel, the main load-bearing parts are made from it, and most often the cassettes themselves are also made of metal.

The aluminum cassette ceiling is especially popular. In addition to the profile, the panels themselves are made of anodized or polished aluminum, so after installation the ceiling plane takes on the appearance of a real mirror.

If the ceiling cladding is manufactured for technological and production premises, then most often the cassette ceiling is designed perforated. These can be cassettes in the form of a grid or punched holes metal plate, sometimes pressed mineral fiber squares are used. The perforated cassette ceiling absorbs noise very well, collects dust, is simple and reliable design allows you to establish full ventilation of the room, and all communication elements can be hidden in the ceiling space.

Panels for cassette ceilings can be made of plastic, pressed mineral fibers, sintered silicate and ceramic granules. Specific material for cladding a cassette ceiling is selected according to operating conditions. For hospitals, these are most often metal and ceramic panels, for office and storage facilities Plastic, glass and metal are used.

Review of cassette ceiling manufacturers

As in any other manufacturing sector finishing materials, the market for suspended ceiling structures has its own trendsetters, recognized grandees and leading brands of the industry.

These include:

  • The legend of suspended ceilings - the Armstrong system;
  • Cassette ceiling structures Cesal company;
  • German company Geipel;
  • Ceilings from the SKY company.

All of the listed manufacturers have their own secrets and nuances of cassette ceiling production technology. Most often, this directly concerns the appearance of the panels, since they primarily influence the perception of the design of the ceiling cladding. Frame parts, T-profiles, cross members and corners for walls, even in branded suspended cassette ceilings, are often produced according to a single scheme by subcontractors, often Chinese or Indian companies.

Important! On the market you can often find a lot of domestic and foreign companies offering their cassette ceiling designs, assembled on the basis of panels from branded manufacturers. Such cladding will be much cheaper and easier to install, but not always low price corresponds to the declared quality and durability of the design.

For example, the same company SKY considers the standard panel to be made of aluminum with a thickness of 0.43 mm or steel with a thickness of 0.5 mm. At the same time, in showrooms and on the market you can find decorative cassette panels, very beautiful, powder-coated with anodized aluminum, but twice as thin as the standard. It is clear that most of these cassettes are just counterfeits, and the cassette ceiling itself after assembly will slightly mismatch high standards companies.

Cassette ceiling Cesal

The company's products can easily be classified as the most high-tech options for suspended ceilings with cassette cladding. This primarily concerns decorative coatings cassettes. Most often, panels are made of anodized aluminum or alloys based on it with powder paint coatings or electroplated nickel protection.

Bathroom option

Cesal cassette ceilings, which are very resistant to moisture and dust, are used mainly in public institutions, gyms and office premises. At the same time, the company uses everything existing options layout of hangers and cassette panels.

The company is one of the few manufacturers of cassette ceilings who offers customers relatively new panel sizes of 300x300 mm and 300x600 mm. Such structures are much more convenient to maintain; users often carry out repairs and replacement of cladding themselves without the involvement of specialists.

Caveen cassette ceilings

Most of the components of the French brand are produced in the European Union, so Caveen cassette ceilings have two important advantages:

  • High precision of all elements and parts of the ceiling frame;
  • A wide selection of colors and relief patterns of cassette panels.

Important! Most Caveen suspended ceilings are produced using an open system, or, more simply, a cassette is installed on the frame from the bottom up, snapped onto the supporting cross-arms.

At the same time, the strength and reliability of the suspension system is not inferior to more traditional and frequently used models with a closed installation scheme, when the panel is laid on the edges of the traverse from top to bottom.

Sophisticated French design

Caveen cassette cladding in its design resembles ceiling and wall tiles, so the suspended ceiling fits perfectly into the interior of bathrooms, kitchens, and any technological or office premises.

Armstrong cassette ceiling

This trademark- one of the oldest and most famous of all existing ones. Hanging Armstrongs with ceramic and fiber slabs have long been forced out of office space and shopping centers plastic ceiling lining, lining and typesetting panels.

Office Style

The suspensions and load-bearing beams of Armstrong panels are made using a closed design, so the frame is much simpler and cheaper to install than the currently popular closed design. Material used in the manufacture of panels:

  • Has excellent soundproofing and noise-absorbing properties;
  • Does not burn, does not emit toxic substances even with strong heating;
  • The main thing is that the price of a cassette ceiling is 40-60% lower than that of similar French and German ceiling materials.

The simplicity of the design has made the Armstrong ceiling one of the most popular on the market.

Installation of cassette ceiling

The suspended ceiling system itself is highly technological; in fact, craftsmen just need to assemble the components like a constructor. Moreover, most of the work can be done without using specialized tools and devices.

Assembly work begins with marking the position of the future ceiling, determining points for attaching hooks, hangers and horizontal lines on the walls for mounting corner holders. General course The installation of a cassette ceiling is shown in the video:

Installation of the frame for cassettes

First of all, it is necessary to fix guide profiles or support corners on the walls. In essence, this is an ordinary corner 30 mm wide, which must be installed on a vertical surface using ordinary dowels. We hammer them in every 40-50 cm. It is clear that before installing the cassette ceiling frame, it is necessary to perfectly align the marking line with the horizon, otherwise the entire suspension system will turn out to be quite crooked and ugly.

After the marking is completed, hooks are placed on the ceiling for attaching suspensions, the length of which can reach two meters, depending on the height and size of the cassette ceiling. After stuffing, the hangers are hooked onto hooks and left hanging for further installation.

Assembly diagram

Suspended cassette ceilings are assembled, as they say, “on the fly.” This means that you have to simultaneously assemble all the traverses, increase their length as necessary, and strengthen them cross bars and at the same time hang the collected items on hangers. It turns out that you assemble a cassette ceiling not by levels or elements, but by immediately connecting all the parts, gradually increasing the structure to the size of the ceiling. This approach is due to the fact that it is necessary to correctly align the position of the crossbars and adjust the length of the ceiling suspensions.

After assembling each row of squares, the horizontal position of the frame at the connection points must be checked. The ends of the planks simply snap into ready-made locks on the T-profile, so there is no need to waste time trimming or screwing in self-tapping screws.

Installation of cassettes for suspended ceilings

Installation of decorative panels, as a rule, does not require any additional measures other than bending and checking the condition of the side edges with which the cassette will be fixed to the upper or lower end of the T-profile.

Installation of an “open” cassette

On closed-type cassette ceilings, installation is performed from the bottom up; you have to hold the frame with one hand to press the panel and fit the edges into the lock. On open-type frames, installation is easier, since the traverses transfer pressure from top to bottom quite easily; you just need to correctly place the cassette on the cell and lightly press it with your hand, but without blows or excessive force.

Installation of lighting in a cassette ceiling

With rare exceptions, almost all models of suspended ceilings with decorative cassettes are equipped with built-in lamps. As a rule, these are luminescent or LED box-type models, with body dimensions of 60x60 cm; for workshops and warehouses, boxes of 120x30 cm or 120x60 cm are used.

The wiring for connecting the lamps must be laid either along the ceiling or secured using plastic clamps on the lower spoke of the wire suspension. The lamps can be mounted in both open and closed configurations; if cassette ceilings are assembled from 30x30 cm panels, then the lamps are attached from the front side. In this case, the wiring must have a loop or an additional section of cable that allows you to remove the lamp from the frame and lower it into the room without breaking the connector chips.

Ceiling cassette fan coil

Relatively new type The device used for suspended ceilings is a box or housing, inside of which one or two heat exchangers are installed. Structurally, a cassette fan coil is no different from a ceiling or wall version. Waste energy warm air emitted outside the premises accumulates inside the heat exchanger and, with the help of supply ventilation is directed by the air flow into the room. The main difference is that the fan coil unit for a cassette ceiling is mounted on wire hangers immediately after the assembly of the sections and traverses closest to the installation site is completed.

Fan coil installation

The device body is suspended on four ceiling holders, and the length of the mount is adjusted so that the front panel of the fan coil is located at the same level with the ceiling cassettes. As a rule, a protective grille, operation indicators, and in some cases remote control sensors for the air heating system are installed on the panel.

Cassette ceiling design: photo

Appearance and design ceiling decoration are usually chosen taking into account the color of the walls and flooring rooms. The cellular or cellular structure of a cassette ceiling is ideal for contrasting solutions of several colors, usually white, red, brown and yellow.

New style – Techno

For public institutions and entertainment facilities, cassette ceilings are most often made in a single color, with a smooth surface and a edging of built-in lamps. IN in this case the main emphasis is on decorative look, practicality and ease of maintenance of cassettes and panels.

Conclusion

The cassette ceiling, despite the complexity and high cost of the design, and the cost of one panel averages 2-3 dollars per unit, is widely used in private homes and in new apartments, where the ceiling height reaches three meters or more. The cassette design perfectly masks communications, dampens noise, and collects dust, so the popularity of the concept remains quite high.

Suspended structures for finishing ceilings in residential premises have long become commonplace. Using elastic film, drywall or plastic, designers create amazing masterpieces. They managed to turn even a cassette ceiling, which not so long ago could be found in an office, supermarket or school, into a beautiful and sophisticated home interior design with the power of creative thought.

Review of cassette ceilings for apartments

Are cassette structures suitable for apartments?

There is no fundamental difference between all types of suspended ceiling cladding, however, some types, such as plasterboard systems, have more possibilities for decoration. So is it worth experimenting with cassettes or is it better to stick with a proven tension or plastic construction?

To dispel doubts, consider the advantages that cassette suspended ceilings have:

  • the profile frame is erected quickly, and cassettes are laid no less quickly;
  • can be hidden in the ceiling space ventilation pipes and occasions to which there is easy access;
  • replacing cassettes in case of repair takes a few minutes;
  • variety of choice - mirrored, glossy, tinted, decorated with images, cassettes correspond to the chosen interior style.

It is worth mentioning the shortcomings, which, however, are characteristic of any suspension systems. The most important disadvantage is the change in the height of the ceilings, which drop by 15-20 cm, that is, in typical panel houses, structures on a frame are undesirable. Many people don’t like the fact that the ceiling seems to be assembled from squares, since the borders of the cassettes will be noticeable in any case, but this is a matter of taste. The cost of components, especially stained glass and decorated ones, is more expensive than plasterboard and plastic panels, and budget ceiling cassettes are more suitable for office decoration. As you can see, there are few shortcomings.

Choosing material

Textured and color variety components materials allows you to solve even the most complex design problem. Based on the material used to make the cassettes, or, in other words, ceiling cassettes, they are divided into several categories.

By combining elements of one or different types, you can create exclusive cassette ceilings that are not inferior in nobility and beauty to tension systems.

Stages of installation of an open cassette ceiling

Having financial freedom, you can hire a designer and workers who will transform your apartment within a few days by installing exclusive hanging structures. But why overpay the craftsmen if you have the opportunity to assemble a cassette ceiling with your own hands? Drill skills, small calculations, sleight of hand - and now your old painted ceiling turns into a smooth glossy surface, decorated with exquisite lamps.

Stage 1 – drafting

The drawing of a rectangular cassette suspended ceiling for a kitchen or hall is quite simple to make: a piece of paper should be drawn out in the form of a grid indicating the dimensions of the walls, profiles, and cassettes. After this, it is easy to calculate how many components you need to purchase at the supermarket.

It is necessary to take into account the size of the insert elements - for a cassette ceiling 300 x 300, 2 times more profile is required than for an analogue measuring 600 x 600. In addition to the cassettes and the profile (wall and guide), you will have to purchase hangers and fasteners.

Stage 2 – installation of a profile frame

Traditionally, installation of a cassette ceiling begins with markings. Armed with a marker, we apply marks on the walls along the entire perimeter, at least 15 cm below the ceiling level. For accuracy we use water or laser level. We connect the marks with a line - the wall profile will be attached exactly along it. To fix the metal slats, we use a drill and dowels (screws). The interval between parts depends on the sizes of the selected cassettes.

The next step is to attach the hangers to pre-marked places. For precise designation, you can use a cord. We drill holes with a hammer drill and fix the spring suspensions to the ceiling with an anchor. For stability, we reduce the fastener eyelet with pliers. Additional hangers are required for lamps or ventilation devices.

The cassettes are laid one by one on the prepared box

Stage 3 – fastening the guides

Before installing the guides, you need to adjust the length of each part using a jigsaw or circular saw. The slats must fit exactly into the grooves of the wall profile. We insert them one by one into the frame, align them with the cord and secure them to the corner profile using a special latch. To adjust the suspension structure, we use special clips: if you squeeze them, the suspension moves in the vertical direction.

Intermediate guides should be installed from the center of the room. We snap them together and at the same time secure them to the main profile (with latches located at the ends). We monitor the position of the slats - the elements must intersect strictly at an angle of 90°. Having secured the central guides, we move on to the walls. We insert the end with the latch into the main profile, and simply place the free one on the wall element.

Stage 4 – installation of cassettes and lamps

A suspended metal cassette ceiling, a stained glass structure or plasterboard panels - any system requires the installation of lighting, so you should think about the electrical wiring at the stage of constructing the profile mesh. Decorative slabs and lamps for the cassette ceiling are installed simultaneously. We simply insert the cassettes into the prepared cells; ideally, they should lie in even rows on metallic profile. Lastly, we mount the trimmed elements, although there is another option - the penultimate row is the finishing row.

It is not necessary to install square raster lamps; recessed spotlights in home environment looks more harmonious. Glossy ceiling for the hall in two-story cottage can be decorated with a chandelier.

Raster and spotlights for cassette structures create a ceiling style

The closed type system differs in both the type of profiles and dimensions. It is for closed structures that 300x300 panels are most often used. The frame consists of parallel lines, rather than a grid, as for open system, so all profiles are practically invisible after the work is completed.

Diagrams and videos with detailed step by step instructions will help you build a suspended cassette system yourself. The original design of neat square panels will refresh the interior and hide the imperfections of the ceiling.
