Plastic windows with ventilation: how to bring fresh air into the apartment? Ventilator for plastic windows: ventilation system Supply ventilation to the window

The modern construction industry has developed sealed plastic windows, which are widely used. But, in tandem with natural ventilation, plastic double-glazed windows work differently. When using the built-in macro- and micro-ventilation modes, either the required volume of air is not provided, or a real draft is created. And when the plastic windows are closed, the hood does not work at all and stuffiness appears. Ventilation valve for plastic windows great solution the problem that has arisen. Without violating the tightness of window structures, the valves are capable of not only providing ventilation of the room when the windows are completely closed, but also.

Advantages of using ventilation valves:

  1. Creation of microclimate parameters necessary for human health.
  2. Increasing the service life of premises due to the removal of excess moisture and prevention of formation, especially in kitchens, balconies and loggias.
  3. Heat savings due to controlled air flow.
  4. Security: the likelihood of intruders entering is reduced, because ventilation occurs with the windows closed.
  5. Ease of use.

Types of ventilation valves

Criteria for choosing window ventilation valves

In order for the operation of the supply ventilation valve on plastic windows to be effective, the multifunctionality of this device is necessary. To determine the class of ventilation valves, there are the following most important characteristics:

  • Ensuring the required air exchange parameters: the valve must operate for an influx of outside air equal to at least 30 m3/hour (per 1 person).
  • Ensuring the required noise level: for standard plastic windows this indicator is set at 30-35 dB.
  • Features of winter operation: this indicator depends on the valve material, the difference between external and internal temperatures, and air flow parameters. For the effective operation of the ventilation valve and to prevent its icing, it is important to maintain high-quality thermal insulation of the valve structure and the use of a so-called “thermal break” made of plastic between the outer and inner surfaces of its metal body.
  • Control method: it is possible to install supply valves for plastic windows with automatic, manual and mixed regulation(tandem of the two previous types).
  • Valve location: exists window and wall installation option. When mounted on a wall, the costs of punching holes in the enclosing structures of the room and disturbing the exterior of the facade by the appearance of foreign elements increase significantly. Window option more economical, simple and invisible.
  • Method of installation of the structure: installation in an existing plastic double-glazed window or by replacing the double-glazed window with a new one and reducing its size.

Advice: You should not consider valves that are not equipped with the ability to regulate, since the need to change the air flow is dictated by practice.

Most popular designs

Aereco window ventilation valves

The French development of the Aereco company has found wide application in Russia. The supply ventilation valve is equipped with the ability to regulate by means of a sensor consisting of several polyamide plates, which, when expanded, drive the opening mechanism. Installation can be carried out both in grooves cut in the window block and on the wall of the room.

A special feature of Aereco valves is the removal of the humidity sensor from the valve, which provides a real reflection of the air parameters in the room. The advantages include the absence of the need for any types of energy, laying of air ducts and silent operation. The Aereco line of ventilation valves for plastic windows includes several modifications that differ in the degree of regulation and noise performance.

Air-Box window ventilation systems

The Russian company Mabitek decided to keep up with its foreign colleagues and developed truly universal Air-Box window ventilation valves, which can be installed on window units of any design. Its undoubted advantage is the ability to install it in the rebate of the window block, which makes the valve invisible.

The standard version (Air-Box Standard) involves the installation of two parts of the valve: the lower external one, which takes air from the street, and the upper one, which supplies a flow of fresh air into the room. The principle of operation of the valve is based on creating a vacuum in the room with the windows closed and ventilation running, under the influence of which the valve petals open and a constant air exchange of about 6 m3/hour is created.

Important: Forced ventilation on plastic windows will effectively cope with its task only with properly functioning exhaust ventilation.

This brand also produces a range of noise dampers labeled the Comfort series. They differ in the choice of installation options. Conventional installation involves milling the window profile, while millless installation can be done independently by removing the seal, and it will only take 10-15 minutes. These valves are intended to be manually adjusted. The Comfort S modification is designed specifically for fixed window structures and involves through drilling of the window block, so direct ventilation is possible.

All Air-Box valves are leaders due to their reasonable cost, efficient operation, relatively small dimensions and simple installation technology.

And about various options films for window tinting on this page.

Valve installation

Professionals use two options for installing ventilation valves. The first involves dismantling the old double-glazed window and installing a new one with reduced dimensions. In this case, the gap formed between the window opening and the block is occupied by the valve itself. This method has significant disadvantages: increased costs required to order and install a new window unit, and a reduction in the area of translucent structures.

The ventilation valve for plastic windows, the installation of which is carried out according to the second option, is mounted in the place of the frame. The convenience of this method will be appreciated by the owners of premises in which sealed plastic double-glazed windows have already been installed. All manipulations to install the valve will take no more than half an hour.

The video demonstrates the installation process of the Air-Box slot valve.

Methods of regulation

Depending on the design of the valve mechanism, the flow supply air on plastic windows with ventilation can be adjusted or have constant parameters. Optimal conditions for the internal microclimate of the room will help to create a valve with the ability to regulate, which can be either manual or automatic. The latter type of regulation is more comfortable and carried out based on the readings of the hygroregulation sensor, which monitors the air humidity value in the room. Regulation occurs by changing the cross-section of the air passage channel in several modes, up to complete closure. The maximum cross section corresponds to the highest humidity value. This type of regulation allows you to reduce heat loss, since ventilation occurs only when there are people in the room and the air humidity increases. When the room is empty and the humidity drops, the valve closes completely.

Choice manual method settings accompanies the need to constantly think about what time to ventilate b, what is the sequence of ventilation of the premises and the opening time of the valve required for ventilation. Manual adjustment can only limit the air flow in gusty winds. This setting is rougher and can lead to drafts in the room.

Care and maintenance

Another integral advantage of ventilation valves for windows is the ease of maintenance. For its comfortable operation, it is enough to clean its surface from dirt only once a year; this is all about maintenance.

Supply valves for windows provide ventilation of the room - more efficient than with standard ventilation. I came across the installation of this part several times, and found out that the design is actually simple. I'll tell you about key features supply valves and how to properly install this device with your own hands.

Description of valves

Main varieties

  1. Main device. It is installed indoors and performs the main function of regulating air flow. For mechanical models, a slider or rotary curtain is responsible for this. Automatic ones have a strip of hygroscopic material that changes in size when the humidity level changes.

Some models are additionally equipped with a deflector - a special plate that allows you to adjust the direction of the air flow.

  1. Mounting strip. A simple device that is used to install the valve itself on the window sash. Made from durable plastic (sometimes with metal reinforcement). For a number of models, mounting strips are available with several latches, which makes it possible to install valves in different positions.
  2. External visor. Placed with outside windows to protect the vent. It can be equipped with a grill that traps insects and small debris. Also a useful addition for an external canopy would be an acoustic one, which does not impede the passage of air, but significantly reduces the volume of external noise.

Air flow into the room is ensured simply: air enters the room through the open ventilation hole of the valve. This occurs due to the operation of exhaust ventilation, which is responsible for removing “waste” air masses.

Having a properly functioning hood is very important. If you block the removal of air, then installing a ventilation valve will become pointless: there will be no inflow anyway.

Automatic models also depend on humidity: the higher it is, the more intense the flow of air into the room. This normalizes the microclimate and at the same time reduces heat loss. Savings are achieved simply: when there is no one in the room (that is, the humidity is minimal), the valve almost completely blocks the flow of cool air from outside.

Brand overview

When choosing a supply valve for a plastic window, you may encounter certain difficulties. There are several models that look almost identical in appearance.

A brief overview of the most common brands of window ventilators:

Illustration Valve brand

Aereco- a leader in its segment, produced in Germany. Provides effective automatic regulation of inflow due to the hygroscopic element. Does not provide for the possibility of completely blocking ventilation.

Cost of the set- from 2500 rubles.

SIEGENIA aeromat- another device from German manufacturers. Can be installed on side part doors Adjustable both manually and automatically (depending on the model), it provides good air flow with a fairly compact size.

Price quite high - from 5 thousand rubles.

Titon- a British brand of valves with a fairly simple and effective design. The most popular models are those with mechanical slider adjustment.

Price- from 600–700 rubles.

Ventair(Poland). The line includes both mechanical and automatic models. There are devices with soundproofing and heat-insulating inserts.

Price- from 1200 rubles.

AirBox- Russian-made products. Inflow adjustment is carried out mechanically, without taking into account the humidity in the room. The ventilator can be completely blocked.

Price a set with a standard visor - from 500 rubles (there are also more expensive models).

Of course, other products are also on sale, but in general the table more or less fully conveys the objective picture. If you want to save money, buy domestic products with simple mechanical adjustment. If finances allow, then pay attention to more functional and efficient ventilators made in Europe.

Advantages and disadvantages of the solution

Advantages of supply ventilation using valves

A ventilation valve for plastic windows is primarily an alternative to traditional ventilation using a slightly open sash. That’s why I evaluate the advantages in this aspect.

  1. Constant ventilation. Not everyone will keep the sash in the slightly open position all the time, and because of this, the room consistently lacks Fresh air. There is no such problem with the valve.
  1. Uniform air exchange. Another aspect of the previous plus. Air is supplied constantly and in small portions - this is enough to maintain the oxygen level in the apartment at an optimal level.

Here it is important to choose a model with ventilation of the required intensity. For this reason, by the way, I don’t like handle valves: their throughput is very low. And to achieve the effect, you have to install devices on all windows, which is time-consuming and expensive.

  1. Saving heat and maintaining a comfortable temperature. With micro-slot ventilation, the loss of thermal energy is very noticeable, and the air cools down greatly. When ventilating with the help of a valve, the flow of cold air is dosed, and it even falls almost to the ceiling - into the warmest zone. As a result, unpleasant sensations are completely absent.
  1. Normalization of humidity. Drier air comes in from outside, which helps establish a comfortable microclimate. In addition, as a result of reduced humidity in the room, the glass unit is less likely to fall out.

Second required condition To implement this point - an efficiently working hood.

  1. Preservation of burglary resistance. Even the most efficient fittings only work in closed position. That is why ventilating a window while the owners are away using a valve is much safer than using the “classic” method.

Disadvantages of devices

A climate control window valve cannot be called a universal solution. It also has disadvantages.

  1. High price. Yes, you can find fairly cheap models, but for functional device with automatic adjustment you will have to pay a lot. Plus, installing a ventilator will cost you a certain amount - unless, of course, you decide to do everything yourself.
  2. Limited Bandwidth. The volume of air entering the room through the valve depends on the area of the inlet. The compact dimensions of the products do not allow this hole to be made very large. So for a spacious apartment you need several inflow points, which can be expensive.

Throughput can be reduced as a result of incorrect installation - for example, when drilling a series of holes instead of milling a groove.

  1. Reduced sound insulation. The effectiveness of protection against loud noises from outside may not be much lower, but if you live above a busy highway, the difference will not be difficult to notice. Various devices (acoustic inserts, compensating visors) solve the problem only partially.
  1. Risk of freezing. In severe frosts (down to -25°C), frost sometimes forms on the top of the valve. The presence of frost does not greatly affect the temperature sensations, but it is still unpleasant.

Actually, I would call only the cost of the products a significant disadvantage - the rest of the shortcomings can be easily tolerated.

Algorithm for installing a window ventilation valve

Tools and materials

To save money on equipping your apartment with ventilation supply units, it is worth mastering the technology of installing them yourself.

Tools to complete the installation:

  1. Drill with a set of drills.
  2. Jigsaw.
  3. Screwdriver or screwdriver.
  4. Level.
  5. Roulette.
  6. File.
  7. Caulk gun.
  8. Template for milling holes.

Typically, professional installers make a metal template that makes accurate routing easier. For a one-time job, you can get by with cardboard, or even mark the window with a marker and carefully work on it.

Materials:

  1. A set of parts for installing the valve - the device itself, the mounting plate, the visor.
  2. Fastening screws.
  3. Silicone sealant (transparent or matching the color of the window profile lamination).

It is advisable to carry out all work wearing protective glasses and gloves. To equip PVC windows with valves located above the second floor, it is worth using an installation safety belt.

Sequence of installation work

Typical instructions for installing supply ventilators on plastic windows are provided in the table. Details may vary for different models, but the general installation scheme remains the same.

Illustration Installation stage

Preparation of the structure.

The window sash is removed from its hinges and installed in a vertical or inclined position.

The upper part of the fittings - scissors and corner gear - is removed from the sash.

We remove the counter strips from the frame, which may interfere with milling.

Marking for milling.

A template is placed on the flange (vertical protrusion) of the sash, according to which markings are made.

If there is no template, then you can mark the holes by simply applying it to the structure mounting strip.

Sash milling.

According to the markings, a groove is milled for installing a ventilation valve. To do this, several holes are first drilled with a large-diameter drill, and then they are connected using a jigsaw.

The window chambers opened during milling are filled with silicone sealant to prevent moisture from entering and whistling when air passes through.

Installing the mounting plate.

We apply silicone sealant to the surface of the mounting strip, which will ensure its tight fit to the sash.

We fix the mounting strip on the sash using self-tapping screws.

Valve installation.

We install the ventilation device on the sash by snapping the fasteners onto the mounting strip.

Installation of the visor.

WITH outside We install a protective canopy over the frame. For fastening we use self-tapping screws, and treat the junction of the part with the frame with sealant.

When installing the visor, be careful: it is highly recommended to use insurance.

Shutdown.

We install the fittings and strikers in place, and then hang the sash on the hinges.

Select the optimal ventilation mode on the ventilation valve.

Some models do not require milling grooves or drilling holes in the flashings - to install them you just need to remove a fragment of the window seal. However, the area of the hole formed in this case is clearly insufficient for effective ventilation.

Conclusion

The valve installation scheme I described will be within the capabilities of any craftsman with at least minimal skill. So, by reading the tips given and watching the video in this article, you can seriously save on the installation of fresh air ventilation. If you have any questions during the preparation or work process, you can ask them in the comments!

With the advent of plastic windows, many people appreciated their advantages. Practical, comfortable, beautiful, they allow you to reduce the noise level in the apartment and avoid heat loss. Plastic windows have become a must-have attribute in almost every home. But, after installing plastic windows, in addition to positive changes, people soon discover some side effects as insufficient ventilation premises. This creates an unhealthy microclimate in the room: stale air, high humidity, a clear lack of oxygen, increased concentrations of toxic substances and microbes. In more unfavorable conditions This can cause windows to fog up and mold to grow. All this happens due to the fact that, due to their tightness, plastic windows become an obstacle to the flow of fresh air into the room. That is why it makes sense to install a supply valve in a plastic window to improve ventilation.

Why is room ventilation needed and how is it designed?

For normal existence air circulation is necessary. In the process of life, living organisms secrete carbon dioxide and moisture. Polluted air must be removed and replaced with fresh air, that is, ventilation is necessary. In house-building practice, air circulation is carried out by a system supply and exhaust ventilation. Warm, polluted air rises and is removed through ventilation ducts, either naturally or forcefully when a fan is installed. Instead of the removed air, clean air from outside must come in. And this influx in classical housing construction is called “natural forced ventilation,” which is carried out through windows and air infiltration through cracks in wooden frames. You might think that the word "system" in in this case not entirely appropriate, since what kind of system is this from a ventilation duct hole and cracks in wooden windows? But it is still a system; it is simply based on the usual, and therefore invisible to us, laws of physics. And the system is precisely because in order for one component to work - the removal of polluted air, another must be present - the supply of clean air, otherwise the polluted air will not be removed. And vice versa, in order for clean air to come in larger quantities from the outside, it is necessary to provide a more efficient exhaust ventilation system (to create the necessary draft). Windows with ventilation can successfully perform this function.

How to improve room ventilation

The issue of improving exhaust ventilation can be improved simple actions. To do this, it is necessary: a sufficient cross-section of the ventilation duct, cleaning it in case of contamination, installing a fan that corresponds to the required volumes of air exchange.

To solve the issue of improving supply ventilation, it is necessary to organize the ability for air to constantly flow into the room. Sealed metal-plastic windows prevent free filtration of outside air. It is possible to ventilate the room only by opening the windows, which is not always convenient and logical, because then the main advantages of metal-plastic windows do not work: noise reduction and energy saving. It is also not convenient to ventilate the room often in winter, because... this creates drafts and discomfort due to cold air flows, especially if the desk or bed is located next to a window. Yes, and cooling down a room in 5-10 minutes in order to warm it up again is not reasonable in our time of striving for energy saving. Slot ventilation in hinged windows is also not always a solution to the problem, because... This is again a depressurization of the window.

To supply air into the room, in addition to traditional ventilation by opening the window sash, various ventilation systems and supply valves are being developed. Installation of a supply valve for ventilation – effective method improving room ventilation by installing special windows with ventilation.

Supply ventilation valves to improve the indoor microclimate

The most common types of valves are wall and window. Wall dampers come in a variety of designs: from simple ones, protected by a grille on the outside and a plug on the inside, to electric ones using fans, filters and air heating. They are designed for more global solution the issue of fresh air ventilation, this is especially true where air conditioners are constantly used. In any case, the wall valve is basically a through hole in external wall, and to be effective, the hole diameter must be quite impressive, from 12-16 cm.

Wall valve

The thickness of the walls in modern houses does not allow the outside air to warm up to room temperature and additional measures are needed to heat it, because The flow of cold air through such a hole is very noticeable. In fact, this idea has long been used in the construction of houses, but for its best implementation, the external inlet and outlet to the room should be located on at different levels and they need to be laid during the construction of the house. Well, now, before making a through hole in the wall, you need to seriously prepare for this, study various options and be sure that such a decision is justified.

Another type is window ventilation valves. The best thing is to take care of the ventilation of your home at the stage of installing windows and immediately order them with a ventilation system. But on various reasons many do not do this, despite the fact that the need for valves for ventilation in metal-plastic windows already specified in building regulations. Later in the article we will talk about how to make a fresh air ventilation valve on plastic windows with your own hands.

Window ventilation valve installed on the window sash

How to arrange ventilation in plastic windows

Simple and practical supply valves, which are mounted on the frame and sash of the window (the result is windows with ventilation), will help to provide fresh ventilation in already installed plastic windows. They are small in size and modern design, so they will not affect the aesthetics of the room in any way, but will help improve ventilation in the house. The most important thing is that they allow you to ventilate the room around the clock without opening windows. They are produced by different manufacturers and, depending on the configuration, they can provide a sufficient degree of noise protection and the required volume of air. Ventilation valves are available both manually and automatically, regulating the air flow according to sensor readings. For example, one of the most popular AERECO window valves works on the principle of a hygrometer and regulates air flow depending on the relative humidity in the room: the higher the humidity level, the wider the ventilator flap opens and more air enters the room. Thus, there is no need to constantly open and close the valve, but if necessary, it is possible to manually adjust it. These valves are easy to install on windows. It is even possible to install such a ventilation valve yourself if you have experience working with a jigsaw. The installation principle itself is not complicated, but certain skills are required and therefore, to install an AERECO type window valve that requires drilling a profile, it is better to contact specialists.

For those who prefer to personally control the process of air supply through the valve, an Air-Box Comfort type ventilator is suitable. The valve is installed in the window ledge without milling the profile, thus maintaining its integrity.

And it has another remarkable advantage - it is easy to install the supply valve with your own hands. Therefore, installing an Air-Box Comfort window valve is a quick and affordable way to improve room ventilation. This valve is suitable for all types of plastic windows: hinged and tilting.

Step-by-step instructions for installing a supply ventilation valve in a plastic window

Let's take a closer look at the valve installation process. Installation will not take much time and will not require any special skills.

To install the ventilation valve you will need:

  • the valve itself is included;
  • stationery knife;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • ruler or prepared template.

All parts necessary for installing the valve are included in the kit. The kit includes the valve itself, 35 cm long, one piece of seal 35 cm long, two seals 16 cm long, three plugs for attaching the valve, self-tapping screws.

Step 1: Determining where to install the valve. The ventilation valve is located on the top of the sash. Approximately in the middle of the sash, use a ruler (or attach a prepared template 35 cm long) to mark the location of the valve. In narrow casements, you may have to move to the side to avoid hitting the window fittings.

Determining the location of the valve on the sash

Step 2. Removing the standard seal between marks. Carefully make cuts on both sides with a knife and the seal is easily removed from the groove.

Remove the seal from the groove

Step 3. Installing mounting dowels. Three mounting dowels are inserted into the groove in which the standard seal was located (with the wider side of the shirt facing down). They will serve to secure the valve to the sash. Two dowels at the edges and one in the middle.

Installed dowels for valve mounting

Step 4. Valve installation. To make it easier to fix the valve on the flap, double-sided tape is pre-applied to the valve. The protective film is removed from the tape. The valve is glued in the desired position using tape.

Removing the protective film of double-sided tape

Step 5. Attaching the valve to the window sash. We attach the valve to the profile using self-tapping screws, screwing them into the previously installed dowels through the valve mounting holes. Now the valve is securely fixed using tape and screws.

Secure with self-tapping screws

Step 6. Insert a new seal. Instead of a standard seal between the valve mounts, we insert two 160 mm seals, which are included in the kit. The flap valve is installed.

Insert seals 160 mm long

Step 7. Replacing the standard seal on the frame. The valve requires air flow to function. To do this, you need to replace the standard seal with the seal from the kit. We mark a 350 mm long section on the frame strictly opposite the installed valve. We cut out the existing seal and insert the seal from the kit in its place.

Insert the new seal into the groove

This is what the seal on the frame looks like now. Replacing a standard seal with a narrower one provides a gap between the frame and the sash through which fresh air enters the room. However, the changes made do not in any way affect the normal operation of the window sash.

DIY window valve installation is complete. Now you can adjust the required level of air flow using the slider. The far right position fully opens the damper curtain and corresponds to the greatest air flow. The left position of the valve closes the valve.

Adjusting the air flow with the engine

The extreme left position of the slider (until it clicks) is intended for servicing the valve and is not used in everyday use; you cannot close the window with the slider in this position, because this may cause the valve to break.

That's all the rules for installing and operating a ventilation window valve.

Good luck to each and everyone individually!

One of my friends, who is very talkative, began to complain more and more often about her poor health. She, of course, is no longer a girl, but a lady of considerable age, but she still goes to work. And that’s where he catches a cold. Without opening the window, he cannot breathe because of the stuffiness, and when he opens it, he finds himself in a draft. I tried to find out if there was a supply valve in the window. It turned out that she knew nothing about him. If this is your first time hearing about such a device, then read on.

Ventilation issues in PVC windows, or why do you need a supply valve?

The first thing I want to say is that I’m talking about the supply valve not for the sake of advertising my company’s products, but to expand the circle of people who will know how to make the microclimate of a room with PVC windows as pleasant as possible.

Plastic double-glazed windows provide the room with excellent heat and sound insulation. But a person cannot stay in a sealed space around the clock and feel comfortable, if the room is not ventilated or is not equipped with a good ventilation system.

Manufacturers of double-glazed windows have long developed a number of ventilation devices for PVC profiles.

What is the purpose of the voiced additional elements? They provide fresh air for ventilation of the room and remove polluted air from it.. There are many valve models, as well as manufacturers, and today you can easily find ventilation window accessories from the Belgian company Titon, the French Aereco or the German Siegenia.

If we talk about ventilation products in more detail, the main ones I include are devices for small ventilation and compact opening limiters, which in their characteristics are closer to fittings. Plug-in elements for PVC profiles, such as, for example, ventilation ducts, valves, dampers with an opening mechanism, have the same purpose, but are subject to separate classification. When choosing from the available assortment, you need to know in advance which principle of regulation of ventilation devices - automatic or manual - suits you best. It would also be useful to have knowledge, albeit superficial, about the operating principles of at least some ventilation add-ons.

First, I’ll tell you a little about ventilation slats and dampers, of which there are many variations. They are adjusted manually; their operating mechanism is similar to the functionality of opening limiters, but their presence must be provided for when taking measurements of window openings. That is, you can’t take them off or put them on as fittings - these are separate parts built directly into window structures.

When looking at the cross-section of the ventilation strip, you can see that this is a multi-chamber profile. How many working through holes you need at the moment, that’s how many you open. In this case, the supply of “oxygen” occurs through systems formed by ventilation holes offset relative to each other.

What are the disadvantages of such ventilation slats? When the openings are open, not only fresh air will enter the room, but also street noise. Therefore this type ventilation device I recommend it only if the windows of the room face a quiet street or if the presence of background noise will not be considered a serious irritating factor.

Otherwise, it is better to choose a ventilation device in the form, for example, of the German noise-reducing ventilator Aeromat brand Siegenia. With its help, air exchange occurs due to pressure differences. The device is controlled by acting on a lever drive, which can be installed on any type of window frame.

The downside of the Aeromat design is the need to sacrifice 8 cm of the light opening along the top horizontal of the window, since this is exactly how much space the ventilator will take up between the double-glazed window and the profile. According to the manufacturer, this is a minor problem and the device is predicted to have high consumer demand among buyers aimed at improved installation of double-glazed windows in homes or offices.

The next object to study is the REHAU-Climamat, a ventilation valve mounted directly on the window element. Its functionality allows you to control the volume of incoming air, regulate the degree of humidity in the room atmosphere and bring the room climate to the desired level.

At the same time, the product is small in size and does not require violating the integrity of the window profile.

Main advantages of the valve:

  • silent control of incoming air volumes;
  • acts as a filter;
  • the air flow is regulated by a special valve with several levels;
  • drafts will not bother you - air distribution occurs in a vertical plane;
  • designed for any load;
  • not tied to a specific profile type.

The valve operation is automatic. The membrane it contains silently moves from position to position when it opens or blocks access to air. With moderate wind exposure, the membrane does not interfere with the passage of the air mass. As the impact increases, the membrane changes position, moved by the air flow. Therefore, when the wind increases outside, the room is not in danger of excess heat removal. As soon as the impact on the membrane decreases, the passage of fresh air resumes.

The valve was originally created with a focus on window frames for panel buildings. The first device was introduced to the market in 1986 by Rehau AG, after a ventilation problem was discovered due to the installation of translucent structures with plastic profiles.

The French company Aereco is the next worthy manufacturer of ventilation devices, advocating ventilation under reasonable conditions. This manufacturer equips its models of supply units with fabric polyamide sensor-drives. The level of humidity in the air affects the fabric, stretching when humidity increases and shrinking when the air becomes less humid. In this way, the dryness of the room atmosphere is regulated, thanks to which the problem with excess water vapor, the formation of condensation on double-glazed windows and mold colonies on slopes disappears.

When choosing an Aereco valve, you will need to invite a specialist to insert such devices into the window profile. When choosing the right model, you need to take into account the technical capabilities of each regarding noise absorption and air flow.

With Aereco you don't have to worry about colds due to drafts - the flow of cold air is always directed towards the ceiling. When the valve is fully open, the device provides sound insulation within the range of 33-42 dB. The device is active around the clock, does not require connection to the electrical network, the valve moves when the atmospheric humidity changes. Can be installed on frames made of any material, including wood. To maintain perfect hygienic condition, the valve must be cleaned once a year without removing it from the frame.

The Aereco valve can even be used on windows residential buildings in regions where winters are severe. Despite the absence of heating elements inside the structure, ice does not form on it due to the difference in temperature between street and room air. There is nothing mysterious about this phenomenal feature of the device: the incoming cold air acts on the unheated parts of the valve, preventing the warm air moist mass from the room from contacting them. Therefore, freezing does not occur.

If you are thinking about stabilizing the humidity level in the kitchen or bathroom, I can recommend exhaust grilles from the same manufacturer.

Like the device described above, they independently determine the degree of moisture saturation in the air and, when the desired level is exceeded, begin to remove it. For those who like to control such processes, there is a manual mode inclusions. If desired, the device can be supplemented fire protection system, fan or filter. But even when using only the basic version, breathing will be more comfortable not only in a room with a source of increased moisture release, but throughout the entire apartment.

However, I will return directly to the valves for windows. In our capital, Aereco products are found on double-glazed windows from various manufacturers. Since the installation of the product can be carried out both when creating a separate structure, and on double-glazed windows already installed in window openings, without resorting to dismantling or replacing frames. Therefore, today the service of supplementing a double-glazed window with an Aereco ventilation valve no longer surprises anyone.

A pleasant difference of this valve model is that when attached to a frame (frame, impost, sash or frame-sash vestibule), the light opening of the window will not decrease. And it is precisely this factor that can be decisive in the decision to purchase this particular ventilation option.

Ventilation valve AERECO

The consumer initially encountered the unpleasant consequence of installing plastic double-glazed windows - excessive sealing, leading to an increase in the level of air humidity in the premises, the appearance of mold on the slopes of windows and the walls of the room, and the formation of condensation on the glass with the advent of the cold season. Having seen one or more manifestations, people immediately began to blame double-glazed window manufacturers for the problem. They say that the plastic is of poor quality or the technology is incorrect, since such problems did not arise from windows in conventional frames.

In fact, everything described happens for one reason - due to the lack of an established air exchange process, which is why the moisture we release during the period when we are indoors remains in the atmosphere of the room.

Many of us live in buildings where exhaust ducts are provided only in special-purpose rooms (kitchen and bathroom). According to SNIPs and GOSTs, additional air flow was provided due to the presence of micro-slots in wooden frames. Those. it turns out that all these drafts from under the window sills and frames were not only a consequence of their physical drying out, but also a necessary factor taken into account in the projects. Thanks to him, residents of apartments with normal heating did not encounter such phenomena as mold on the walls and condensation on the glass.

When installing plastic double-glazed windows, the air exchange through the micro-slits of the window frames stopped, so all the moisture released by people when breathing, during cooking or washing, remains inside apartments and houses. Other products of our vital activity also accumulate there, albeit invisible to sight.

What remains in our homes besides water vapor:

  • carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere of the room when we breathe;
  • evaporation from the surface of decorative finishing;
  • smells from cooking dishes;

I would also add radon to this list, the excess of which in any dwelling with PVC double-glazed windows without ventilation is increasingly being reported by representatives of sanitary and epidemiological inspection. This gas is classified as inert; it has no odor or color, but is a source of radioactive radiation. Doctors consider it a slightly less aggressive killer of people than nicotine, which leads to death from lung cancer. Radon is credited with 8/10 of all household exposure to humans from household sources. Where does this gas come from in our homes? Made from building materials and earth, so it is almost impossible not to fall into the field of its rays. Unless you provide your home with quality ventilation.

We arrange ventilation of a room with PVC double-glazed windows by means of ventilation

Modern plastic double-glazed windows have very convenient functions.

In addition to ensuring complete tightness, they allow you to open the doors as you please - fully open, slightly opening only the upper part with an angle towards you, setting slot ventilation.

However, some owners of houses or apartments with such windows open the windows the old fashioned way. Or it doesn’t ventilate the premises at all in winter, trying to keep the heat in the house, which is so expensive today.

The main reasons for this behavior:

  • advertising, which says that thanks to plastic windows there is no draft anywhere near the window opening, apparently worked so hard on the subconscious that people simply do not open the windows in winter (this aggravates the problem, because in houses with PVC structures, ventilation is necessary);
  • slot and normal ventilation can lead to the formation of a draft, and they try to avoid it;
  • in theory, in order to maintain normal working capacity and feel vitality in the body, we need fresh air, at least 25 cubic meters per hour; in order to provide yourself with such quantity, the room needs to be ventilated for 5 minutes 24 times a day - naturally, no one simply bothers about this;
  • street noise in some cities is so annoying to people living near transport arteries that residents categorically do not want to open plastic windows even for mandatory ventilation (not everyone agrees to sacrifice 25 dB of noise insulation even for a short period of time).

I don’t argue, it’s a shame, having spent a lot of money on double-glazed windows that completely eliminate street noise, to endure it when you let fresh air inside the house. It’s even more annoying when you expect to refresh the atmosphere of the room, but instead you get the remnants of smog.

In addition to this problem, opening a double-glazed window in normal or slot mode has a number of other negative consequences:

  • sudden change in temperature;
  • entry of allergenic pollen and ordinary street dust into the room;
  • creating dangerous conditions for a child or pet;
  • the possibility of being harmed by intruders (especially important for residents of the first floors).

These are the main reasons why, having modern glazing in their apartments, people suffer from excess indoor air humidity, but still refuse to ventilate or do it too rarely. It’s easy to break this vicious circle by installing a ventilation supply valve. For example, such as AEREKO.

It was developed with the aim of providing people with the opportunity to live in apartments with PVC windows in the most comfortable conditions. This is the only compromise solution for those who do not want to personally engage in repeated ventilation of the home, but do not want to sacrifice their health because of this. With the AEREKO ventilation valve, fresh air will flow into the rooms even when the doors are constantly locked. In this case, there will be no drafts or a sharp drop in air temperature.

Installation of the AEREKO automatic supply ventilation valve on an already installed window unit in the video:

All the main benefits

I count seven of them in total:

  • the valve provides up to 35 cubic meters of fresh air per hour (in a room with such ventilation you won’t get a headache again, it’s always easy to breathe);
  • a working AEREKO valve does not affect the soundproofing qualities of the window;
  • the valve will not be a source of noise and draft (the air flow will be directed towards the ceiling);
  • the ventilation valve is reliable in the fight against radon radiation because it provides a round-the-clock supply of fresh air;
  • when examining the valve, you don’t need to think that you bought a defective one when you discover that the product lacks tightness - this is a technical solution to the problem of freezing of the ventilation device;
  • the AEREKO valve is small, mounted in the area of a through rectangular slot on the upper horizontal of the frame, so it does not affect the amount of light transmitted by the glass unit;
  • You can always install an AERECO valve on any window without removing the frame or cutting out extra holes in it (very convenient if there is no pre-installed ventilation system in the double-glazed window);
  • The AEREKO valve will allow you to forget about condensation, mold, stuffiness and radon forever.

How to choose the right vent valve

I consider the elegant design of the AEREKO supply valve an additional bonus to the excellent technical characteristics

devices. Because even if it was unsightly in appearance, it would still have to be installed. After all, if you have it, your home will be left with a lot of sanitary and hygienic problems. The table will help you understand the advantages of AERECO over supply valves of other types and brands.

We install the ventilation valve ourselves

I do not advise you to pay attention to supply valves at a temptingly low price and, especially, to trust the installation of the device to a random person. You can screw up a double-glazed window so much that all you have to do is dismantle it and throw it away.

As for the cost. The fully equipped AERECO valve (I’m talking about the ENA and EMM series) costs about 150 euros. By complete set we mean the presence of the ventilation device itself, a mosquito net and an acoustic visor. A product of similar purpose from the VENT Air II brand costs less – 2000 rubles. However, flawless installation of both devices is possible only in the factory.

In practice, this looks like cutting a pair of through channels on the frame profile using an adapted milling machine. On profile installed window You can’t carry out such a process again - only similar, but it will no longer be of any use.

I admit that the stars will smile on you, and you will meet a person who is ready to install a supply valve of one of the above models on the window. Do you want me to tell you how events will develop further and how the installation of the valve will end?

To maintain the image of a professional, the craftsman will take out an incomprehensible-looking metal template, and then try it on the frame. He will make some kind of markings or remember for him alone the visible points for contact of the device being worn with the frame.

Armed with a drill, he will ruin the profile by drilling dozens of through holes in it - at this stage you can say goodbye to the tightness of the profile.

After cutting out each hole, the surrounding area will be decorated with a portion of fine metal dust and shavings. Then, using a jigsaw, through channels will appear, which will be brought to an “ideal” state with an ordinary file. The resulting holes will be covered with a supply valve, and this disgrace will cost an unknown sum - its size is limited only by the conscience of the master.

For your own money, you get a disabled window disguised as a modernized one, a bunch of dirt and the prospect of soon looking for funds for a new double-glazed window. You can avoid such a fate by purchasing a supply valve that does not require insertion into the profile. For example, such as a Russian-made product, the Air-Box Comfort valve. Installation of a product that costs, for a second, only 400 rubles, does not require significant skills in using men's tools and it is enough to know how to handle a screwdriver. detailed instructions in Russian significantly simplifies the process - you do it and know that you are not reinventing the wheel at your own risk, but are following the recommendations of real experts.

Algorithm with an approximate indication of the time spent on manipulations:

  • 10.30 – clear the window space – prepare the work area;
  • 10.35 – find and place a sharp utility knife and a screwdriver next to the window;
  • 10.37 – open the window;
  • 10.37 – try the valve to the frame in the place where it will be installed;
  • 10.38 – make cuts on the sealing gum itself, focusing on the outer edges of the valve;
  • 10.39 – carefully remove the part of the seal that was marked with cuts;
  • 10.39 – insert the embedded fastening dowels where the places for screwing in the self-tapping screws for installing the supply valve on the sash are marked;
  • 10.40 – secure the valve to the sash with three screws;
  • 10.42 – install two seals from the kit to the ventilation device in the gap between the fastening points;
  • 10.43 – remove the rubber seal on the frame profile in the place where the valve is located, replace the rubber with the seal supplied with the ventilation device;
  • 10.44 – rejoice at how beautiful and secure everything is.

The total cost is 400 rubles and less than a quarter of an hour for installation work.

What to expect from the Air-Box Comfort Vent:

  • air permeability indicators – 10 Pa, cubic meters/hour 42;
  • soundproofing protection – RA, dBA - 32;
  • heat retention index m2*OC/W - 0.58;
  • overall dimensions 350x32x13 (in mm);
  • RAL upon request;
  • panel color is white.

Air-Box Comfort inlet valve is a guarantee of your comfort

Review of the operation of the Air-Box Comfort inlet valve in the video:

Are your apartment windows able to breathe at night?

It is not enough for a person to have a roof over his head; he strives to create maximum comfort in your home. The comfort of the atmosphere in the house depends on the warmth of the air, its humidity and the speed of movement. If all parameters are normal, you can breathe inside the house, work and relax easily. When a imbalance occurs, for example, due to a decrease in the volume of oxygen, problems begin with the general well-being of the inhabitants of the home. A person reacts in the same way to an increase in humidity or the volume of fumes from furniture and floor coverings that are barely noticeable to the human sense of smell, but still real.

What to do in this case? Establish the process of manual or automatic ventilation - a portion of fresh air from the street will quickly return the state of the atmosphere at home to normal. The carbon dioxide released during our breathing will leave it, fresh and not so aromas of food will evaporate, and the balance of moisture in the air will level out. All these processes are described in one word - VENTILATION.

You can’t do without it even when there is no one in the apartment or house. Everything in the home environment has the ability to breathe, although the process is different from what we are used to understanding by this term. As a result, the air in the home is filled with moisture from aquariums, plants, and the breath of pets in the house. But the volumes of water replenishment in this case are small and the micro-slits in the apartment in the walls, window and doorways can handle their release to the street.

By the time the owners return home, the humidity level remains at the basic level.

The value of this parameter is influenced by many factors. Among them are the degree of air cooling outside the house, the quantity and power heating devices inside it, the presence of controlled and uncontrolled household sources of moisture.

Excess moisture in the air is just as harmful as its deficiency. But with the arrival of the heating season, the relative humidity of the apartment’s atmosphere can drop to 15%, which is very harmful. Then you need to think about installing a device to saturate the air in the room with moisture.

However, the situation with the balance of water in the room atmosphere changes dramatically with the arrival of the owners. Evaporation from wet clothes, people's breathing, hygiene procedures, and washing lead to an increase in moisture concentration. As activity subsides, humidity also drops, but significant changes in saturation occur only with ventilation. In the morning, everything repeats itself and the air is again filled with moisture due to our usual actions: preparing breakfast, hygiene procedures.

If it seems to you that people do not remove much moisture through their breathing, then I will only say one thing: during sleep, one person exhales about a liter of water. Multiply this volume by the number of household members. Now it’s clear why in the morning, before airing, the apartment sometimes resembles a sauna? And excess moisture in the air is not only a slight discomfort when breathing, but also a headache and a feeling of weakness.

In general, take control of the level of air humidity in your home into your own hands. If in the evenings you like to gather with a large family around the TV, then you can ventilate the room both before and after the start of a home movie. Before going to bed, if you want everyone to be cheerful in the morning and not sleepy hens, also don’t forget to let a portion of fresh air into the bedroom.

Of course, you will have to spend money on warming up the cold air. However, ventilation cannot be neglected for reasons of economy. Those citizens who pay for communal services without taking into account personal actual energy costs somehow do not think about communications: you ventilate more often, and you spend more energy resources on heating the house. The same cannot be said about people who switched to individual meters.

Regardless of what category of citizens your family belongs to, Questions about heat energy consumption must be approached consciously. Even the residents multi-storey building can increase the heat level in their apartments without having direct access to valves to regulate the heat supply to the radiators.

The simplest, but still effective way is to eliminate points of unauthorized heat leakage into the space. This is achieved by insulating windows, doorways, and replacing light curtains with thick curtains. If the boiler room is not working as actively as it should, then you cannot do without an additional heating device.

I can offer more modern way solutions to the problem of heat leakage from the house - replace the old ones frame structures for modern PVC double-glazed windows. In addition to the ability to stand as a faithful guard in protecting room heat, modern windows also provide high-quality protection from street noise and dust. But bad luck, in the absence of a built-in ventilation system, such windows become a source of problems with humidity and contribute to the increase in the concentration of radon, carbon dioxide, and unpleasant odors in the atmosphere of the apartment.

As a result, you begin to notice that:

  • PVC window glass is covered with condensation every now and then (especially in the cold season);
  • spots of mold appear here and there on the snow-white slopes;
  • The apartment feels stuffy every now and then.

What is the reason? Old wooden frames were so-called cold bridges, through which the heat accumulated in the room flowed out into the street. But through the same cracks she left the room not only excess moisture, but fresh air also leaked in. WITH PVC installation double-glazed windows, all these holes disappeared. Not everyone has the habit of frequently ventilating the house. As a result, stationary ventilation ducts in the bathroom and kitchen can no longer cope with the load and the house, and at the same time you and your family, begin to suffer from increased humidity.

If you have a good habit of ventilating the room at least once a day, problems due to plastic double-glazed windows may not arise. At your disposal, even when purchasing a basic window configuration, you have the opportunity to open the sashes in the same way as was done with a window in a window with a wooden frame, or rotate the sashes in an inclined plane, or use slot ventilation. You shouldn’t forget about the same opening limiters either.

Starting ventilation:

  • Make sure that when ventilating, neither you nor anyone close to you gets into the draft zone;
  • be prepared to suffer a little from street noise even with slot ventilation - the sound insulation level for this period will drop to 18 dB with slot ventilation and to 9 dB with regular ventilation;
  • do not leave an open window unattended if you live on the first floor and do not have a protective frame on the opening (at night, do not even think about going to bed without locking the windows);
  • do not leave an open window unattended if there are children at home, a cat, or birds outside the cage;
  • if there is high humidity in the room or a large crowd of people in the apartment, open the shutters more often than usual (if someone is against it, try to explain the reason for your love for manipulating the window).

Of course, when installing new PVC double-glazed windows, you were unlikely to expect a new set of responsibilities. Most likely, the manager who offered the windows did not talk about them. And to the question about the dangers of completely sealing a living space, the answer you heard, I think, was only about the provided micro-ventilation of windows.

Yes, some amount of street air will penetrate into the room through the channels in the window profile - they are specially made at the factory. However, these revenues can only combat, for example, glass fogging. But these miniature channels are not able to meet your family's needs for fresh air. Think about it: according to SNIPU, it is necessary to update the atmosphere of a room at a rate of three cubic meters of air per hour for each square meter residential area. Can such a volume of air masses leak into the tiny holes of your window profile? Therefore, the ventilation process must be constantly supervised either independently or with the help of auxiliary devices.

The presence of fresh air in the house is the key to the health of each of its inhabitants, the basis of well-being in all its manifestations. After all, without experiencing a lack of oxygen, we are more energetic and solve existing problems with less effort. Yes, we’re just glad that another morning is coming, and we’re not fighting the desire to stay forever under the shadow of a blanket.

If, thank heavens, there have been no serious health problems yet, but you are worried about the sudden appearance of mold on the slopes, then you are nervous for good reason. This is one of the first manifestations, indicating a problem due to the tightness of plastic double-glazed windows.

Before other unpleasant surprises follow, take the matter of organizing proper room ventilation under your control.

Even if the existing double-glazed window does not have extended lines for fresh air, the situation can be corrected even without radical methods. And you won’t have to constantly pay attention to the windows, opening them and locking them every hour. Everything had already been thought through, invented and even produced before you realized that you need to do something about the manifestations of excess moisture in the house.

All owners of apartments or houses with installed double-glazed windows face problems due to sealed windows.

The cost of the latter does not in any way affect their ability to resist the accumulation of excess moisture in the room. The only thing that matters is the presence of a supply valve or the habit of carrying out full ventilation several times a day.

What are hanging ventilation systems? All models can be divided into built-in window profiles even when assembling structures at the factory and hanging them on ready-made double-glazed windows standing in the openings. The latter type eliminates the need to spend money on reinstalling new glass units with pre-installed ventilation valves. When choosing the latter, I recommend choosing models in which ventilation is automatic. Otherwise, how will running to the supply valve differ from running to the window sashes for ventilation in the usual format?

In order for the device to work regardless of your control, you need to configure its response to a specific parameter. It is most convenient to focus on the humidity indicator of the room atmosphere. After all, its level most often jumps both due to our natural life activity and as a result of actions that we often perform at home: cooking, washing, drying clothes after forced walks in the rain.

If you take control of this same humidity, then in addition to overall improvement in well-being, the problem with the appearance of mold on slopes and walls will be solved, and windows will stop fogging up.

In order not to provoke health problems due to constant fluctuations in humidity, humidity control devices for windows should be selected from a line of products with hygro-controlled automatic systems. Then the humidity will stabilize smoothly and around the clock, without excessive consumption of room heat.

For more than 20 years, the French manufacturer ventilation systems AEREKO supplies the market with automatic supply air humidity control devices. Models EHA and EMM are able to work in a stand-alone format and without the help of exhaust grilles. But then you will have to pay a little more on electricity bills.

The products are small-sized and can work on structures made of any material., do not reduce the volume of incoming light, since they are placed on the frame itself, equipping the profile from the inside and outside. Even when running at full power, they don't let street noise bother you because they The sound attenuation index ranges from 33-42 dB. Particularly pleasing is the fact that to install the device there is no need to interfere with the profile structure or remove the double-glazed window.

These supply valves are very convenient to use and prevent drafts from forming, since they direct the incoming air towards the ceiling. In the homeland of plastic windows - in France, and in the rest of Europe, these devices have been in use for a long time. And I think it’s time for us to master the culture of proper use of plastic double-glazed windows. After all, they were created for our comfort, and not for the opportunity to add problems to our lives.

How to solve the ventilation problem after installing PVC windows, watch the video:

Features of the supply valve

Plastic bags have taken root here too. After all, with their help you can ensure silence even in an apartment facing a busy highway, and reliably protect your home from drafts, cold and precipitation. However, there is one drawback that prevents you from enjoying the functionality of PVC windows - because of them, the rooms become airtight and the process natural air exchange observed in apartments with wooden frames is negated.

There are no microcracks in the plastic profiles, through which the apartments received fairly substantial portions of fresh air. Therefore, a modernized apartment needs to be ventilated either by opening the doors with your hands or using special air supply devices.

Any modern ventilation valve on a double-glazed window becomes a solution to a number of problems.

Among them:

  • stabilization of the humidity level in the room;
  • headaches for household members due to gas contamination of the room’s atmosphere with respiratory products and fumes from the surface of household items.

How does a ventilation valve work?

This invention is for installing a plastic window on the sash (upper horizontal), so that in this place small volumes of air pass through the barrier of the double-glazed window profile: fresh air into the room, stale air from it.

In addition to the device for mounting in top bar windows, you can use structures for insertion into the foamed joint between the frame block and the wall, into the window strip itself, or into the space between the sash and the frame of the PVC double-glazed window.

In the case where there is an air supply device, but there are problems with mold and excess humidity air has not disappeared, then I can authoritatively declare that you bought and installed a fake valve. Therefore, be careful when choosing such a product, do not rejoice at the opportunity to save a lot. Most likely, the low price of the valve is an indicator that they are trying to sell you a fake.

We install the structure

There is nothing difficult in installing the valve if each step corresponds to a specific point in the instructions. All you need is the valve itself, a normal and convenient screwdriver, and a sharp utility knife. It is better not to install supply canopies that need to be installed using milling - a professional will not only do everything beautifully, but will also preserve the “life” of the double-glazed window itself.

The undeniable advantages of ventilation air supply device:

  • it can be placed on any frame (wooden, aluminum, plastic);
  • it does not interfere with the light transmission of the window, since it does not reduce the volume of incoming light;
  • a working device does not reduce the soundproofness of the glass unit;
  • fresh air will flow into the room around the clock (this is necessary even if it is winter outside);
  • drafts do not form when air is pumped – air mass is directed towards the ceiling (thanks to this, neither you nor any of your loved ones will be blown through, which means that no one will sacrifice health for the sake of the desire to maintain normal humidity in the room);
  • the intake of fresh air does not lead to significant heat loss.

Information about supply valves in the video:

Types of valves

To equip double-glazed windows with ventilation valves, the market offers the use of wooden, metal or plastic supply products. All this mass can be divided into two groups: manually controlled and automatic. The first ones are equipped with a special rope, without which it is not very convenient even for a tall person to get to the device located in the upper part of the glass unit. The latter require only the initial adjustment of the orientation parameters, and after that the valves themselves open and close as needed.

Work based on pressure accounting occurs using a special curtain equipped with an upper suspension. When there is a strong wind, the curtain creeps up and reduces the volume of air entering the room. Operation based on humidity metering depends on the readings of a special sensor, which contains nylon tapes. When wet, they force the valve to open; when the tapes dry, the reverse process occurs.

I strongly advise against interfering with the operation of a device designed to operate in automatic mode.– there is a high risk of the room freezing and causing the valve to fail. The product developers have provided for everything, so you need to relax and resign from being responsible for fresh air in the room. The device itself will determine when the moment comes for air exchange between the room and the street.

In order not to miss the selection of a valve for an already standing window, choose a product with technical parameters that are as close as possible to the similar characteristics of the window.

Care

The design of the supply ventilation device is, as they say, outrageously simple, so periodic manipulations to clean the valve from dust and dirt are unlikely to cause difficulties.

All you need to do is remove the main layer of dirt with a vacuum cleaner once every year or two. The surface of the case will have to be wiped with a damp cloth a little more often, focusing on the presence or absence of traces of flies and other types of contamination.

I do not recommend using anything wetter than a sanitary napkin, because washing or excessively wetting the valve can result in its failure. You cannot use aggressive chemicals or even ordinary water to wet the napkin. When carrying out repair work in a room where there is a ventilation valve on the window, it needs to be covered with something.

Anyone can install a ventilation valve

Installation of a ventilation valve does not require professionalism– it’s enough to know how to properly use a screwdriver and a utility knife, and have 15 minutes of free time.

Before starting installation, remove everything from the window sill to preserve the life of all objects lying there and to exclude the possibility of accidental damage to some part of the glass unit.

First, attach the product to the profile and use a knife to make cuts on the sealing rubber, marking the boundaries of the valve. Make the cuts deeper, and then pull out the resulting piece of elastic.

Insert the dowels into the holes for the screws, attach the valve to the sash on them, and then screw all three hardware into them. Insert between the fasteners rubber seals, offered with the product.

Installation

Why have plastic windows become popular? They are an insurmountable barrier to street dust and moisture. But thanks to their technical features, ensuring tightness, the windows interfere with, or rather exclude, the possibility of natural air conditioning of the room. You see the consequences of this within a couple of days after the final installation of the double-glazed window into the frame: the glass of the structure begins to become covered with condensation, and puddles begin to grow on the windowsill. Soon mold will begin to appear on the slopes if you do not solve this problem in some drastic way.

Regular control over ventilation is not possible for everyone - we are too busy with everyday activities to open the window every hour to let in the next portion of fresh air. And in winter you don’t really want to carry out such procedures, when it’s cold outside at twenty degrees and there’s a north wind.

By installing a valve on a window, you solve many problems:

  • you don’t need to give up your current affairs and be distracted by the ventilation procedure;
  • the intake of a fresh portion of air is carried out when the atmosphere in the room contains an excessive percentage of moisture;
  • ventilation occurs in a safe manner for everyone.

What is a supply valve?

If your window “cries” with tears of condensation, and the slopes bloom with spots of mold, then there is only one solution: urgently adjust the air conditioning of the room.

Then you will quickly get rid of the manifestations excess moisture. Where does it come from in a room with heating and a reliable roof?

Here are the main sources of moisture:

  • a resting person secretes about 40 g of liquid per hour;
  • a working person secretes about 90 g of liquid per hour;
  • one medium-sized flowerpot provides 10 g of water per hour;
  • all containers with water supply up to 200 g of liquid into the atmosphere of the room per hour;
  • when cooking, drying wet laundry, wet cleaning the atmosphere of the apartment receives up to 1000 g of water every hour.

Just one small valve on the double-glazed window can easily rid the atmosphere of the room from excessive moisture reserves. If it fails, then either its installation was carried out in violation of technology, or you bought a fake.

How is it installed?

Every home craftsman can handle the installation of a supply valve in about ten minutes. The only auxiliary tools you need are a screwdriver and a utility knife. Naturally, the valve is complete (with 350 mm rubber sealing cords).

In order not to mess up when removing the rubber in the sash frame, you first need to take measurements and set markings where the valve will be located.

Having freed the area from the seal, first install the valve in this place, and then the seal from the kit included with the product. Yes, you only need to equip a sash that can be moved.

Once you have identified the area of the seal that needs to be removed, carefully remove it. At this point, a groove is now clearly visible where you need to insert three plugs from the valve. Then remove the top strip of double-sided tape from the device and attach it with the sticky area to the place where there are already plugs.

Using small self-tapping screws, secure the valve by screwing them into the plugs. Try moving the device carefully. If it fits securely, then you can glue the sealing rubber.

Terms of use

Each ventilation valve to a plastic window is an adjustable device. When placed in the extreme right position, it allows air to pass through. Physically, this can be determined by bringing your hand to the hole - the skin should feel the movement of air. To close the valve, it must be moved all the way to the left position.

Ventilation valve installation technology in the video:

Plastic windows have gained great popularity over the past 10 years due to good characteristics heat, sound insulation and relatively low cost. But many users have a problem when natural ventilation Double-glazed windows work differently. If you use micro- or macro-ventilation, there will either be insufficient fresh air in the room, or strong drafts will appear. There is a solution to the problem - a supply valve for plastic windows. The device is capable of ensuring good oxygen circulation in the room without breaking the tightness of the double-glazed window without opening the window frame.

Types and method of application

Window valves are divided into several types, depending on the method of operation and installation method. On construction market The following varieties are found.

Slot inlet valve

This option can be automatic or mechanical. Fresh air is supplied through a small connector measuring 17-40x1.2-1.6 cm. The design may contain 2 blocks - an external intake type and an internal regulating one.

There are also devices of a combined type. The main advantage of slotted window valves is their ease of installation. To install this device, it is not necessary to violate the integrity of the blocks.

The valve on a plastic window creates a passage for fresh air thanks to the rebated openings in the window block.

This option is characterized by a reduced degree of throughput, an increased level of noise insulation and low cost. Another advantage is that there is no need to dismantle the frame to install the device.

Overlay window device

An overhead supply valve, which is installed on a window, has a large air flow and global disadvantages. The device helps reduce the soundproofing and heat-insulating properties of a window unit; it cannot be mounted on finished windows.

As a rule, overhead ventilation valves on frames are used in industrial premises.

Making the right choice

In order for the supply valve for plastic windows to create the most suitable microclimate in the room, when choosing it, you need to pay attention to functionality. Use the recommendations of experts to eliminate the error:

  1. To ensure the necessary air exchange characteristics, it must operate on an influx of street air with parameters of more than 30 m 3 / h per 1 person.
  2. The device should not impair the sound insulation properties of the window. The optimal indicator is 30-35 dB.
  3. Possibility of use in the winter season. To prevent the device from freezing during frosts, its design provides a “thermal break”. This function is performed by a special plastic part that is mounted inside the housing.
  4. Setting methods. There are variations on the market with mechanical, automatic or combined control methods.
  5. Method of installation of the structure. Some variations can be mounted in finished window, others are installed at the production stage of window frames.

It is not recommended to choose a product that does not provide adjustment. This function is very important for creating the most optimal microclimate in the room, regardless of its purpose.

Installation methods

Installation of the supply valve on plastic windows is carried out using two methods - with or without perforation.

How to install a flow element with additional perforation:

  1. Prepare necessary details and tools. For work you will need a drill, jigsaw, sandpaper, drill 0.5-1 cm, knife, sealant filler, ruler.
  2. Create markings on the top sash of the frame; this is done on the inside and outside of the window.
  3. Using the drawn template, make several through holes with a size of 0.5-1 cm. They will be the basis for larger perforations, so according to this marking, drill the holes to 1 cm. Clean the edges with sandpaper.
  4. The valve mounting part is installed on the sash overlay covering using self-tapping screws. But the element is first treated with a sealant.
  5. When surfacing the window frame, grooves are milled based on template parameters. The outer area of the frame is equipped with the outer part of the air supply device and a special visor, which is included in the package. Fastening is carried out with self-tapping screws, after which it is treated with a sealant.
  6. The internal part of the device is installed on the bar using latches and clips.

In this case, the procedure will be as follows:

  1. During the work you will need a Phillips head screwdriver, a knife, a pencil, and a ruler.
  2. A small piece of seal equal to the size of the supply element is removed from the frame overlap. A special gasket supplied with the device is glued to this area.
  3. 3 plugs are mounted “umbrella” in the downward direction into the grooves of the sealing material. The valve itself is mounted on top of the window frame on the sashes with brackets.
  4. A sealing material is glued into the connector between the brackets.

This option involves working through the gap formed between the device and the seal.

How to set up and care for the structure

Supply ventilation valves for PVC windows provide automatic or mechanical adjustment. In the first case, the device is supplemented with an automated sensor, which is responsible for hygroregulation. When the humidity level decreases, the oxygen flow will decrease; naturally, when the humidity level increases, it will increase.

As for the mechanical, or rather manual, control method, some mistakes can be made here. If not correct definition the structure will freeze or the room will become overcooled. Therefore, you need to study the operating instructions before use.

The device must be cleaned of dust once every six months. The visor and body are wiped with damp microfiber. This is enough for the device to perform its functions properly.

It is not recommended to use aggressive cleaning agents. chemical substances. Also, do not use strong water pressure. If renovation work is planned in the house, the ventilation device must be covered.

Self-installation of the supply element is not provided for in the operating instructions for the windows. If any holes are created on the window frame, the manufacturer's warranty becomes void.

Based on user reviews, we can conclude - air valve for plastic windows, this is a necessary and practical addition that allows you to improve the microclimate in an apartment or house.

Review of popular brands

Despite the abundance of offers on the market and the huge number of manufacturers of plastic windows, few are engaged in the production of supply valves. Among those presented in Russia today we can highlight:

  • Rehau
  • Aereco

Let's look at each of them in more detail.

German valves manufactured by Siegenia are different good quality, but in larger sizes. When installed, they cover part of the window, which is generally uncomfortable.

Rehau products are much better and smaller in size - the valves are automatically adjusted, operate silently, and can be used in windows of different sizes - from standard to small attic ones.

Aereco from Homearea is considered the undisputed leader in this segment both in quality (I will give particular priority to frost resistance) and in price - compared to analogues, these supply valves are cheaper. But the most interesting thing is that the work is carried out automatically depending on the humidity in the room with full preservation of sound insulation properties.

The entire Homearea product range is moisture sensitive and adjustable to the humidity in the room. Aereco is mounted in two ways, depending on the air supply - vertical or horizontal. Works in comfortable formations - easy ventilation and automatic.

For ease of selection, the manufacturer has developed 3 product lines at once:

  • Comfort provides different ways installations - with and without milling;
  • Comfort-S for windows without sash for ventilation;
  • Regel-air for different types windows and are aimed at passive ventilation of the room.

The Regel-air climate valve is a universal type, adapted to all types. The advantage over analogues is invisibility when the sash is closed - it is mounted in a hidden way - and complete preservation of sound insulation at the time of direct ventilation.

Prices

As noted earlier, the best in its segment are Aereco supply valves manufactured by Homearea (France). The operating principle of such a device is based on changing (increasing or narrowing) the passage opening, taking into account the humidity in the room and temperature.

Air-Box Regel-Air costs 480-510 rubles in different stores, good discounts are provided for wholesalers - a batch of 100 pieces can be purchased exactly 2 times cheaper.

Air-Box Comfort and Comfort-S will cost 940-980 rubles. ( Wholesale price 420-450 rubles), but here it is definitely recommended to buy a visor along with the valves, the cost of which is from 100 rubles. and higher.

Rehau valves cost about 50 euros, Siegenia - 35-40 euros.

If you notice that condensation has begun to appear on the windows, it’s time to buy supply valves. When choosing the appropriate option, be sure to take into account the degree of frost resistance, the presence of automatic ventilation and the installation method. If everything is done correctly, a healthy microclimate in the house or room where you work will be ensured!
