How to install an electric storage water heater. How to install a storage water heater yourself? Gas storage boiler

After choosing a water heater, regardless of its type, a question arises related to its installation. There are two ways: install the water heater yourself or entrust it to specialists. The second option is simpler and preferable for most people, but there is one drawback - the cost of services. For example, the cost of connecting a boiler up to 50 liters in Moscow will cost you 100 - 120 USD. And if you need to replace the old one, then to this amount you need to add 300 rubles for dismantling. The amount is not exorbitant, but why not try to keep it in your pocket by installing a water heater.

Installing a water heater with your own hands will take an average of 2 hours, if you have all the necessary tools. And the acquired skills will be useful in the future, and the amount intended to pay for the installation will remain with you.

Pros and cons of installing a water heater yourself

Popular wisdom insists that we “measure seven times” and cut only once. And I think this rule also applies to choosing the method of installing a water heater. If you don't have even the slightest experience plumbing work, it is best to trust the specialists. This especially applies to those cases when a water heater is installed in an apartment, and there are neighbors on the floor below. If something goes wrong, you risk flooding them.

But, if you are trying to carry out repair work yourself, then following step by step, install the water heater without any problems. To the advantages self-installation the following can be attributed:

  • cost savings;
  • saving time;
  • acquiring skills that will become indispensable when servicing or repairing a water heater;
  • in case of repair work in the room where the water heater is installed, you will not need to call a specialist for dismantling.

Schematic photo of water heater installation

In addition to choosing the model and type of water heater, even before starting work, you need to decide the following points. Installation location:

  • access to the water heater must be free throughout the entire period of operation;
  • the wall on which the water heater is mounted must withstand double the weight (i.e., with a capacity of 50 liters, it is necessary to calculate a load of 100 kg);
  • if the wiring in the home has not been changed for a very long time, it is necessary to determine its condition, cross-section and ability to withstand the load of an electric water heater (for example, for a storage water heater with a power of 2000 W, the cross-section of the copper wire should be 2.5 mm2);
  • condition of pipes and risers, if replacement has not been carried out or “points” for connecting the water heater have not been identified (according to own experience I know when, instead of installing a boiler, I was forced to change all the pipes in the apartment, since their condition did not allow them to “break in”).

Before starting work on installing a Thermex or any other water heater, prepare all necessary tool: tape measure, hammer drill with appropriate drill, spanners and/or an adjustable wrench, two types of screwdrivers, wire cutters, and pliers.

Materials you will need: tow, paste (for example, Unipak) or fum tape, shut-off valves (3 pcs. for a storage water heater and 2 pcs. for a flow-through water heater), 2 or 3 tees, respectively, two flexible connecting hoses (if not included in the kit ), metal-plastic pipe (meterage depends on your conditions and connection location).

If you need to replace the wiring: a three-wire wire (you determine the length yourself), a machine or a socket. That's all, we bought the water heater, everything mentioned above is in stock - we can start installation.

Installation of an electric instantaneous water heater

A distinctive feature of this type of water heaters is their low weight and size, which significantly expands their installation location. For example, it is possible to install a water heater under the kitchen sink. But since water must be heated very quickly, they have very powerful heating elements installed. And this, in turn, places demands on the wiring, so depending on the performance of the device, cable laying from 4 to 6 mm2 is required. In addition, you should find out what current the meter is designed for; if it is less than 40A, you will need to replace it too. To connect an instantaneous electric water heater you will need circuit breaker for 32 - 40A, PVS cable 3X6 or 3X8, if the wiring in your apartment is not designed for the use of electric stoves.

Having solved the problem with the voltage supply, we proceed directly to the installation. This type of water heater has two connection options: stationary and temporary. Temporary is carried out using a shower hose, and when applying hot water it can easily be covered and not used. For this type of connection, it is necessary to supply cold water. To do this, we cut a tee into the pipe with cold water, install a shut-off valve and use a flexible hose to connect it to the water heater inlet. We open the cold water tap, open the heated water outlet and plug it into the network, for 30 seconds we get hot water.

With the stationary method, the supply and intake of heated water will be carried out in parallel with the general water supply system. To do this, we need two tees, we cut them into the hot and cold water pipe. We install the taps, do not forget to make the connection airtight using tow with sealing paste or fum tape. Next, depending on your choice of connection method, we connect the cold water pipe to the inlet to the heater, the cold water supply is indicated in blue. We connect the heated water outlet using a hose or metal-plastic pipe to the hot water shut-off valve. We open the taps and mixer, check if everything is sealed, if there is no leak, plug in the machine or plug into the socket, hot water should come out of the mixer. With a stationary connection method, do not forget to shut off the hot water riser if you live in an apartment building. Otherwise, the heated water will go into the pipes to the neighbors.

Installation of an electric storage water heater

A distinctive feature of storage-type electric water heaters is their significantly lower price and the absence special requirements to electrical wiring. That's why they are more common.

Let's look at the step-by-step installation of a storage water heater with your own hands:

  • At the selected location, mark a place for attaching the boiler to the wall. Using a tape measure, measure the distance between the axes of the holes in the anchors of the water heater. Using a hammer drill, we drill holes for the dowels; depending on the design of the water heater, there can be 2 or 4 of them, as a rule, there are two of them. Insert the dowels and hammer/tighten the hooks. One more thing when marking, measure the height from the holes on the boiler anchors and its highest point. The same distance, with a small margin, must be maintained from the dowel to the ceiling or the top of the niche in which the installation is carried out. If you do not do this, you will not be able to put the devices on the hooks.

  • After our water heater is fixed to the wall, we proceed to connecting the water supply. If the connection points have already been drawn out, there is nothing simpler - we connect the input and output of the heater using flexible hoses or pipes. If the connection is made using flexible hoses, you will not need tow, because The tightness of such a connection is achieved through a sealing rubber gasket. When entering cold water into the boiler (indicated in blue), do not forget to install a special valve for draining overpressure(shown in the photo). It is usually included in the kit, if not, purchase it, it is a must have. Before the shut-off valve, it is advisable to install another tee and connect a tap to it. You can do without it, but then during maintenance it will be more difficult to drain the water from the water heater. This point is highlighted in the official video below on installing an Ariston water heater. We wrap tow with paste or fum tape around all joints.

  • If there are no leads, you need to install them. If your water supply is laid out with metal-plastic pipes, the work will take about 20 minutes, if you have metal pipes, it will be more complicated. To “cut” tees into metal pipes, in addition to everything, you will need a die with a diameter corresponding to the diameter of the pipe at the junction. You may need an appropriate adapter. The operating procedure is as follows: turn off the water, use a grinder to cut the pipe at the location where the tee is installed, use a die to cut the thread, wind the tow and connect the adapter or tee to the pipe, then install the faucet and proceed as in point 2. It is best to prepare the leads for the water heater in advance. We will not describe in more detail, since this type of work relates more to the installation of water supply systems; on our website there are articles with detailed description these works.
  • After connecting the cold water, connect the hot water tap to the outlet on the water heater, it is marked in red. There are no additional elements no need.
  • After connecting the water supply, open the cold and hot water tap, wait until air stops coming out of the hot water tap and water starts flowing. Along the way, we look to see if there are any leaks in the places where the connections were just made.
  • If there is no leak, the air has been bled from the boiler, connect the power source. The connection method is up to you to choose; it can be a socket or a connection through a separate circuit breaker. On the boiler terminals, the contacts are marked, L - phase (usually corresponds to the brown wire in the plug or wiring), N - zero or return wire (usually blue) and grounding (yellow or any other in a three-wire wire). We connect and apply voltage, the operation indicator on the water heater should light up, adjust temperature regime according to the instruction manual and use it.

Don’t forget to look at the water heater installation manual Ariston, Termex and many other companies cover the connection procedure in sufficient detail. There is nothing fundamentally incomprehensible or complicated.

Installation of a gas water heater

This section of the article is intended to replace the geyser, because If it doesn't exist at all, you can't install it yourself. You need a corresponding project, all the approvals required by law. Otherwise, it is a violation of the Law with corresponding consequences.

If the corresponding project is available, the gas utility has completed all the necessary work to connect the gas pipe to the column, a gas meter has been installed - the rest of the work can be done yourself, i.e. install gas instantaneous water heater.

The work order is as follows:

  1. At the installation site, according to the project, we mark holes for dowels in the same way as the method described above. We drill holes and hammer in hooks.
  2. Hanging geyser on wall mounts.
  3. We install a corrugation to remove carbon monoxide into the chimney. One end of it should fit tightly into the chimney, the other should be placed on the outlet of the column. Make sure that the diameter of the corrugation matches the diameter of the outlet of the gas water heater.
  4. We connect the gas pipe to the gas inlet point in the column using a special certified rubber hose. Open the tap and let gas flow to the column. We prepare a soap solution and “heartily” lubricate all the newly made connections. We look carefully at these junctions to see if there are “ bubble" If they appear, use a wrench to tighten the hose connection nut and see if it helps or not. If gas leakage cannot be eliminated in this way, call a gas technician. But in my mind, it’s better to entrust such a connection to him, the native gas industry. On the one hand, it is safer and more reliable, on the other hand, there will be no complaints against you.
  5. The next operation is water supply. We carry it out either using flexible hoses, or PVC pipes, it's whatever you like. The procedure is similar to connecting an electric water heater, only without additional elements. That is, the sequence is as follows: pipe, tee, faucet, pipe or hose connecting to the column. You can install a salt filter on the cold water pipe - this will extend the life of the column. The cold water inlet, like on the boiler, is marked in blue. The hot water outlet is red.
  6. We open the cold and hot water tap, pass it through the system and look for a leak. If we find it, we fix it: either tighten the nuts or rewind the tow. We tighten the nuts with feeling, without unnecessary zeal, and do not break the threads.
  7. After making sure there are no leaks, install the power source and open the hot water tap. The column should turn on the water heating on its own and should run in a few seconds. warm water. We adjust the temperature according to the instructions for the gas water heater.

All of the above work costs from 60 USD. If you did everything yourself, you can be congratulated on your earnings.

Electric heaters and boilers are equally in demand today. How to install such equipment will be described in this article. With the help of such a device you can cope with the problems of turning off hot water. Among other things, such installations can operate on an ongoing basis. In a wide range of modern stores you can find storage or instantaneous electric boilers, the latter of which are in less demand, because they are inferior to storage boilers in terms of volume and profitability. To install such a device, you can use the services of specialists or do the work yourself, but you will need to follow all safety regulations. To do this, the electricity is completely turned off and the hot water pipes are blocked.

Preparation of materials

If you decide to purchase such equipment, you should find out in advance. Of course, doing the work yourself is cheaper. If you refuse the services of professionals, you should prepare a certain set of materials for installation. You will need either a safety valve, two flexible water hoses, and two dowel nails. At the time of buying water hose It should be taken into account that you will need two elements, the length of each of which is 2 m. However, the length will depend on the distance to the insertion into the water supply system. When purchasing dowel nails, please note that there should be hooks at their ends. By the way, about the safety valve. It is worth mentioning that it comes complete with an electric boiler. The valve should have a diameter of 10 mm.

Preparing tools

So, you need a boiler. You should learn how to install such equipment before purchasing it. Do you want to do the installation yourself? Good luck! However, it is worth considering that in some cases, doing the work yourself will void the manufacturer’s warranty. In addition to materials, you should prepare certain tools, including: screwdrivers, drills with a Pobedit tip for fastening to a brick wall, an adjustable wrench and a hammer drill. The latter can be replaced with an electric drill.

Installation instructions

Many home craftsmen, having learned how much it costs to install a boiler, prefer to do all the work themselves. This is not surprising, considering that such services cost about 5,000 rubles. Do you have the skills and know which side to approach the hammer drill from and how to hold the screwdriver? Then why overpay? But if you do the installation yourself, you will have to prepare properly. An important role here is played by the reviews of those people who are not new to doing this kind of work. If you study all the recommendations, you can come to the following.

The process should begin by choosing a place for mounting in the bathroom or toilet. Most often, such equipment is installed above the toilet, where it will not disturb anyone. It is necessary to check the strength of the wall, as it will have to bear the load from the boiler. If the room has unreinforced plasterboard partitions, then you should refrain from installing the unit on them. If the boiler volume is 50 liters or more, the wall will bear a double load, that is, 100 kg.

Before installing a boiler in an apartment, you should decide on the lowest point of the equipment location, marking it on the wall surface. Next, the master measures the distance from the mounting strip to the bottom point. The first is firmly welded to the equipment body. The resulting distance must be marked on the wall. The next step is to drill two holes. The craftsmen emphasize that you need to remember that the fastening bar does not have such holes; anchors with a hook at the end must cling to its edge.

So, everything is ready to mount the boiler on the wall. How to install it correctly? The question is not an idle one: the structure must be securely fastened, because the fall of such a massive device can cause injury. If the wall is made of concrete or brick, then the craftsmen recommend using a hammer drill with a Pobedit drill bit. For a wooden wall, use a regular wood drill, the diameter of which is smaller than that of a plastic dowel. The latter must be installed in the hole and, if necessary, driven in.

The metal anchor is screwed in until it stops turning. As a rule, a depth of 12 cm is sufficient. The boiler should be hung by hooking the anchor hooks onto the bar to secure it to the body of the unit. At this point, the process of hanging the equipment can be considered complete. As you can see, the technology is not very complicated, so any home craftsman can master it. At the next stage, you can connect the boiler to the water supply system; for this, flexible hoses should be used.

Let's connect!

Judging by the reviews, polypropylene pipes can be used instead of flexible hoses, but this will cost more and take more time. At the bottom of the boiler there are two tubes, one of which has a blue plastic ring. Cold water will be supplied through it. The second tube is indicated in red and is intended for hot water outlet.

According to craftsmen, a safety tap should be installed in the place where cold water is supplied. It is usually included in the kit or purchased additionally. The first step is to attach the safety valve. Don’t forget to first wrap plumbing flax or sealing tape around the threads.

The craftsmen advise that at the next stage, screw one end of the flexible hose onto the safety valve. In this case, you need to stop using tape, since the hose nut has a rubber gasket that acts as a sealant. Well, the question of how to install a boiler in an apartment has almost been resolved. The next step is to screw one end of the flexible hose to the pipe from which the hot coolant comes. In this case, sealing tape is also not required.

Now you can start connecting the free ends of the hoses. The end to which cold water will flow should be connected to a water pipe. A valve or tap must first be installed at this location, which will allow, if necessary, to shut off the liquid supply. This recommendation should not be neglected, since the boiler may fail during operation or require replacement of spare parts. The free end of the other hose should be connected to the pipe that goes to the mixer.

In principle, installing a water boiler yourself is not difficult. You just need to arm yourself with certain knowledge (in addition to tools and materials). And there are many nuances in this matter. In particular, before connecting the unit, it is necessary to remove the tees on the water pipes. In the absence of certain experience, it is better to entrust this work to professionals. Now you can do the electrical part. If we're talking about About Thermex brand water heaters, they have one feature, which is the presence of a cable for connection along with a plug included. Moreover, this element is connected to the boiler. If this is not the case, then consumables will have to be purchased separately.

And further. To ensure that everything goes off without a hitch (read: without accidents), craftsmen strongly recommend observing safety precautions when working with electricity.

What else needs to be taken into account when carrying out work

If you are faced with the question of how to properly install a boiler, then you should know that you do not have to open the lid if everything in the equipment is already connected. It is enough to install a grounded outlet in advance, which should be located close to the equipment. You should turn on the cold water tap to check how tight and secure the connection is. If there are no leaks, the boiler plug can be connected to the outlet. Now you know how to install. If you did everything correctly, the indicator on the case should light up. After this, you can set a certain temperature using the regulator, which is usually located at the bottom.

Conclusion

It is important to remember the main mistakes that are made when connecting the equipment described in the article. In particular, before installing a boiler in the bathroom, experts recommend making sure there is a circulation system. This will minimize energy losses if there is always hot water in the pipes.

How to hang a water heater on drywall: 3 easy DIY methods

Hello. Today we will talk about how to hang a boiler on drywall. The topic is of considerable interest, since more and more various rooms covered with plasterboard. And since the strength of this finishing material is doubtful among non-professionals, a logical question arises on what principle should be used to install heavy objects, taking into account their subsequent long-term use.

I would like to note right away that the instructions that you will read in this article are universal, that is, they can be used both when installing boilers and when installing other items weighing over 50 kg.

General information about what we will hang and on what

Before fixing the boiler to drywall, let’s decide whether this can be done at all?

There are two types of domestic boilers:

  • Flow-through heaters through which a stream of water passes and heats up;
  • Storage heaters in which a certain volume of heated water is constantly collected.

Flow heaters are distinguished by their low weight and compact dimensions. There will be no problems with the installation of such devices, since screw dowels that will hold 5-10 kg will be sufficient for installation. But few people use flow-through heaters due to high electricity consumption, and their price is high.

Traditionally, more economical storage heaters are installed in the room, which are a massive container filled with water. It is precisely with the installation of such equipment on gypsum boards that certain problems may arise.

To make it clear what we are talking about, imagine that a standard boiler with a volume of 80 liters weighs about 100 kg when filled. It is unlikely that any drywall will withstand such a load, fixed on 3-4 fasteners.

But it turns out there is effective ways, using which you can install a boiler in a bathroom with walls covered with plasterboard sheets.

These methods can be divided into two types:

  • Installation on reinforcement placed under wall cladding;
  • Installation on holes made in a rough wall.

Let's look at these methods in more detail, and you can choose suitable option.

Method one - installation on pre-installed wooden reinforcement

If you are familiar with the technology of installing gypsum boards on walls, you know that first a load-bearing frame is built, onto which the sheathing is mounted directly.

Considering that standard thickness plasterboard sheathing is 9 mm, plus the thickness of the wall tiles is 4 mm, the fastening surface must be reinforced. To do this, mortgages are attached to the supporting frame and to the wall, which will subsequently take on the weight of the installed boiler.

Let us consider in more detail what are the instructions for installing mortgages, through which you can ensure the reliability of the installation of heavy attachments:

  • After mounted power frame we determine the installation location of the water heater, so that the location of the fastening hardware falls on the perimeter of the cell between the profiles;
  • In accordance with the thickness of the profile used in assembling the supporting frame, a board (preferably hard wood) with a width of at least 100 mm is selected;
  • The board is cut into pieces equal to the width of the cell in the sheathing;
  • Workpieces are processed antiseptic impregnations, working off or drying oil;

We apply the polish or drying oil to the wooden blanks on all sides in at least two layers with the interval necessary for each previous layer to dry.

  • The prepared lumber is attached to the wall surface at those points that, according to preliminary calculations, will not coincide with the location of the mounting eyes on the water heater body;

Fastening hardware for installing boards is selected in accordance with the density and strength of the walls. For fastening mortgages to a concrete surface, the best option is anchor bolts with a length of at least 150 mm. If the density of the wall is low, I recommend installing the embeds on studs with a through passage of the wall with washers and nuts on both sides.

  • It is imperative that we photograph the location of the mortgages in the wall so that later it will be easier to find them under the cladding;

  • After the mortgages are fixed in the sheathing, the gypsum boards are installed using standard technology, which you can familiarize yourself with in my previous articles;
  • After the wall is sheathed, tiles are laid on top of the drywall;
  • Only after the tile adhesive and grout have completely dried do we mark points for installing fasteners for attachments;
  • We drill holes in the wall cladding up to the embedded boards;
  • We screw screws into the wood, the size of which is selected in accordance with the predicted operating weight of the suspended equipment;
  • The gaps around the perimeter of the screwed-in fasteners are sealed with grout to prevent moisture from penetrating under the casing;
  • We hang the water heater on the fixed mounts.

This method is not only simple to implement, but also universal, since heating radiators, wall cabinets and other heavy objects can be hung on wooden mountings. Depending on the type of wood from which the boards are made, the mortgages can withstand the installation and long-term operation of attachments weighing up to 80 kg, which is slightly more than the weight of a 50-liter boiler.

Method two - installation on pre-installed metal reinforcement

If the strength of wooden embedded elements for installing a massive boiler is insufficient, I recommend assembling metal fastenings based on steel plates with a thickness of 3 mm.

You need to understand that installation, as in the previous case, is carried out before covering the walls. That is, it is advisable to install a boiler using this method at a time when a major renovation of the bathroom is planned.

Execution instruction installation work V in this case next:

  • We weld a bolt onto a 100×100 mm plate, the length equal to the width of the profile, plus the thickness of the drywall and tiles, plus the distance necessary to attach the mounting eyes and secure them with nuts;

  • In this way we make 4 parts according to the number of mounting eyes on the boiler;
  • We attach the water heater to the wall and transfer the location of the holes in the eyes;

  • According to the markings made, we attach pre-prepared fasteners to the wall, so that the welded bolt is located exactly in the center of the mark, that is, where the center of the hole in the boiler fastening will be;
  • Next, the frame is covered with plasterboard, in which, during the fitting process, holes are made through which the ends of the bolts can be brought out;
  • Tile or other facing material is laid on top of the drywall;

  • After graduation finishing works You can mount the boiler by putting mounting eyes on the bolts and screwing on nuts of the appropriate size.

Method three - fastening with a chemical anchor

If the question is how to fix a water heater to drywall, you can use embedded elements in the sheathing, as shown in the previous instructions. But, if you decide to hang not a small boiler on the wall, but a full-size heater, you will need a more reliable fastening than just a screw screwed into the wood.

For installation we will need a threaded rod, a mesh sleeve and a chemical anchor. You can purchase the listed materials at almost any hardware store or market. In some large hardware stores you can find ready-made kits, designed for mounting attachments through drywall.

The main advantage of this method, in comparison with the previous one, is not higher strength, but the ability to perform installation work on finished cladding. That is, if the mortgages need to be fixed in the profile, then the stud can be fixed directly in the mounting hole using an anchor.

The installation instructions are as follows:

  • Place the water heater against the wall and mark the location of the mounting lugs;
  • Using the markings made, use a long drill to drill holes through the drywall into the wall;
  • We thoroughly clean each hole made from dust with a brush;

  • If you have a compressor, we blow out the hole and thus finally blow out all the dust from it;

  • If there is no compressor, remove dust with a powerful vacuum cleaner;

If the hole is not free of dust, the chemical anchor will not be able to properly adhere to the walls of the hole and the fastening will not provide the required security.

  • After the hole is prepared, we insert the nozzle of a tube with a chemical anchor into its cavity and pump the mixture inside;

As a rule, 5-7 pulls of the trigger handle are sufficient to fill a hole up to 100 mm deep mounting gun. After this, the tube nozzle must be carefully removed from the hole. The nozzle must be pulled out straight without distortion. If the tube and the nozzle are skewed, the chemical anchor will come out.

  • We put a mesh sleeve on the end of the hairpin;

  • We insert the fastener prepared in this way into the hole and press it to the end;
  • Next, carefully pull the pin out of the hole so that the sleeve remains inside;

At this stage, I strongly advise against using any knitting needles, long screwdrivers or other improvised devices instead of a threaded rod. The fact is that our task is not just to insert the sleeve into the hole, but also to center it there. This cannot be done with small-diameter objects.

  • After the pin is removed, we re-fill the hole with a chemical anchor;
  • We wait 5 minutes for the mixture to settle in the hole;

  • Using rotational movements, screw the pin into the still elastic mixture until it stops;
  • After a day, the fasteners are ready and you can hang the boiler on it.

The water heater allows residents of apartment buildings and private buildings to always have hot water at their disposal. Its independent installation can be performed by any home craftsman with minor skills in plumbing and electrical work.

Such different devices - storage and flow

Water heaters (boilers) used in private houses and high-rise apartments are divided according to the power source into electric and gas, and according to the principle of operation - into storage and flow-through. Gas-powered units are a regular water dispenser. Its connection is made to the gas main. But electrical devices operate from a household network. They are of interest to consumers interested in having a constant source of hot water in their home.

Flow-through electric heaters have a special container - a flask, in which a electrical element, designed for heating water. Devices of this type are compact in size. They must be installed on a water tap. The main advantage of a flow-through device is the rapid (essentially instantaneous) heating of the liquid, the main disadvantage is the increased electricity consumption. Such devices can have heating elements (heating elements) with a power from 3 to 27 kW. It is easy to understand that during operation they will generate a lot of electricity. For most consumers, this situation is unacceptable.

Some flow devices are equipped not with heating elements, but with spirals. These devices consume even more kilowatts (by about 15–20%), but they are more durable. Their service life is significantly longer than that of water heaters with heating elements. Experts give one very important advice. If the water in your home has high hardness, buy and install a boiler with a spiral. In other situations, opt for devices with a conventional heating element.

Storage water heaters use much less electrical energy and have affordable price, are considered universal units. They can be installed in any home - and in country house, both in the apartment and in country cottage. These devices are equipped with a tank in which the liquid is heated. The indicated container may have a different volume. Heating the water in it takes some time (from 10–15 minutes to several hours, depending on the capacity of the tank).

The disadvantage of a storage boiler is its large size. For this reason, it is almost impossible to install it in a cramped space or in a room with a small area. But water heated in the tank can be used simultaneously from several taps. It is enough to install the main water tap. And from him already make the wiring to kitchen sink, in the bath, on the washbasin in the toilet.

Storage water heaters are horizontal and vertical. In devices of the first type, the heating element is placed in the side part. In vertical boilers, the heating element is placed at the bottom, which ensures better and faster heating of the water in the tank. Horizontal units consume more electricity. Keep this in mind when choosing a device.

Self-installation of the described units allows you to save money on calling a specialist (his services are not cheap), and also makes it possible home handyman gain indispensable skills in servicing such equipment. But let's say right away - if you do not have the slightest experience in plumbing work, it is better to refuse to try to install the heater yourself. The consequences can be disastrous, including flooding of the neighbors below and failure of the electrical wiring and network in your apartment.

If you are confident that you can install the water heater yourself, be sure to pay attention to the following points:

  1. 1. Assess the condition of the wiring in your home. It is advisable to replace old cables that have been in use for decades with more modern ones. Even the most modest electric flow heater consumes 2–2.5 kW. Soviet wiring may not be able to withstand such a load.
  2. 2. Select a location to install the device. A storage water heater, as we have already said, is a fairly massive unit. If you plan to mount it on a wall, you need to make sure in advance that it can withstand the weight of a large device. In addition, during the entire service life of the water heater, free access to it must be ensured.
  3. 3. Analyze the condition of water risers and pipes. If their condition is poor, it is advisable to replace the lines. And only after that proceed with installing the heater.

It is also necessary to prepare tools and special materials in advance. We will need: metal-plastic pipes, fittings, pliers, an angle grinder, screwdrivers, a hammer drill, wire cutters, wrenches (wrench and adjustable), fluoroplastic tape or thread (linen), connecting hoses. To install a storage device, we purchase three plumbing tees and three shut-off valves; for a flow-through device, we purchase two units of these devices.

If it is necessary to replace the electrical wiring, you will have to purchase an additional automatic fuse, required quantity and a socket for connecting a water heater. Take wires with a cross-section of 4–6 square meters. mm., automatic - 32–40 A. Recommended cable types for connecting the unit are 3X8 and 3X6.

We install a storage heater - warm water is provided

After we have studied the basic rules for installing boilers, we can get down to business. Let's start with installing the storage unit. Installing a water heater with a tank begins with determining where it is mounted on the wall. Then we take a tape measure and measure the distance between the holes in the boiler anchors. We transfer the obtained measurements to the wall. We drill holes in it in the designated places with a hammer drill with an appropriate attachment for fasteners. We will use dowels as such. Some boilers have four mounting holes, others only two. The number of dowels used should be the same (4 or 2).

Next, insert the dowels and carefully tighten (in some cases hammer in) the hooks. There may be a slight problem here. It is associated with inaccurate markings. We definitely need to measure the height from the top point of the water heater to the holes and maintain exactly the same (slight deviation is allowed) distance between the ceiling and the dowels. If everything is done correctly, the hooks will tighten without problems. Otherwise, putting them on will be very problematic.

After securing the boiler to the wall surface, we proceed to connect it to the water supply system. It’s good when conclusions for this already exist. But usually there are none. The scheme of work for arranging the conclusions will be as follows:

  1. 1. Turn off the water supply.
  2. 2. We cut the pipe with a grinder in the area where we will mount the tee.
  3. 3. We use a die to cut the thread (we use a tool whose cross-section is equal to the diameter of the pipes) and seal it with fluoroplastic tape (FUM) or flax tow.
  4. 4. We install the tee, attach a tap to it, and seal the resulting unit using the method indicated above.

To the conclusions drawn. This can be done using metal-plastic pipes or flexible hoses. In the first case, the resulting connection must be sealed with FUM tape. When using flexible products, additional sealing of the assembly is not required.

The next step is to install a special valve for the cold water input on the heater. This element is of great importance for the normal operation of the boiler. The valve automatically relieves excess pressure in the system, protecting equipment from failure. Inexpensive water heater kits may not include such a device. But this does not mean that it can not be installed. Buy the valve separately and install it if you want to use the boiler without any problems.

It is also recommended to install an additional tee in front of the shut-off valve and connect another faucet to it. In principle, this element does not need to be installed. But then it will be quite difficult for you to drain water from the boiler during regular maintenance of heating equipment. It’s better to make your life easier in advance by installing an inexpensive faucet in a couple of minutes. Areas for connecting additional parts also need to be sealed.

Next, we connect the boiler outlet to the hot water supply tap. We connect the water supply to the home. We open the taps and wait for hot water to flow. Nuance. First, air will come out of the hot water tap. Do not worry. This is normal. Then we inspect all existing connections for leaks. If everything is fine, we proceed to connecting the unit to the power supply. More on this later.

Connecting equipment to the network - feel like an electrician

For many self-taught craftsmen, this stage of installing a heating unit worries the most. And in vain. If you have connected any household appliance at least once, you will be able to cope with a storage boiler. The plug from it can simply be plugged into a standard 220 V socket if the wiring in the house has been recently changed and it fully complies with the requirements described earlier.

But it’s better to play it safe and connect the heater through a separate machine. Believe me, there will be a minimum of difficulties. At the terminals heating device we find three contacts:

  • return wire or zero (N)
  • phase (L);
  • grounding

Zero in most cases is indicated in blue, phase in brown, ground in yellow. We need to carefully connect the three-core cable leads to these inputs and insulate them if necessary. Then we apply voltage. If the wires are connected correctly, the indicator on the boiler will light up when the equipment is ready for use. We can safely use a unit that is independently installed and connected to the network.

Flow-through boiler - we install both temporary and stationary

Flow-type electric heaters can be installed in two different schemes. If you plan to use the unit only when the centralized hot water supply is turned off, a temporary installation of the device is performed. In cases where the water heater will be used constantly, choose stationary circuit installations. A temporary connection involves using a regular shower hose to use heated water. With this installation, we need to connect the device to a cold water supply pipe. The operation is simple:

  • we cut the tee into the “cold” pipe;
  • install a shut-off valve;
  • connect the boiler inlet to a flexible hose.

After these works, open the cold water, then open the valve for heated water and turn on the device to the power supply. We wait 30–40 seconds. Enjoy hot water, coming from a miracle device.

For a permanent connection, two tees are required. In this case, the equipment will function simultaneously with the centralized supply of hot water. We cut the tees into the pipes and install the taps, making sure to seal them with tow and FUM tape. Next, connect the boiler to a pipe with cold water. And we connect the outlet through which the heated liquid will flow to the corresponding shut-off valve. We open the taps and mixer and check whether there are leaks or not. If necessary, we additionally seal problematic connections.

Connection to electrical network We do it separately. We use a circuit breaker for these purposes. It is prohibited to connect powerful instantaneous heaters directly into a household outlet. One more thing. We take an automatic machine with an indicator of more than 40 A. This way we will definitely protect the wiring from emergency situations, and our home from fires.

We install a modern gas heater instead of an old water heater

A boiler that requires gas to operate can only be flow-through. It can be installed instead of a standard geyser. In cases where your home does not have one (it is not provided for by the project), installing a water heater is prohibited. You first need to obtain all permits from the gas utility. And only then proceed with the installation of the gas boiler.

If there is a column, feel free to replace it with a flow-through heater. The scheme of work will be as follows:

  1. 1. We install the boiler on the wall according to the method that we have already described (make holes for mounting dowels, tighten the hooks, and so on).
  2. 2. Connect a corrugation of a suitable cross-section to the boiler. Carbon monoxide will flow through it into the smoke exhaust tract. We pull one end of the corrugation onto the corresponding outlet of the column, the other onto the chimney.
  3. 3. Using a rubber hose (it must have a certificate), we connect the inlet hole in the heater to the gas pipe.
  4. 4. Lubricate the resulting compound with a soap solution. Turn on the gas supply. If no bubbles are observed, everything is done correctly. If there are bubbles, tighten the connection nut and check for leaks again.
  5. 5. Using polyvinyl chloride pipes or flexible hoses, we supply water to the device. The connection diagram for the elements will be as follows - a tee to a pipe, then a valve, a pipe again, and at the end - a hose for connecting the boiler.

The next step is to look for possible leaks. Open the water valves. We inspect the connections. In areas where water is noticed, we reseal the units and tighten the nuts. Be careful! Do not overdo it and strip the threads from the nuts. After eliminating the leaks, connect the power source. Now you can open the “hot” valve. The boiler itself begins to heat the water (if we have completed all the operations correctly), which you can use in just a couple of seconds.

Cutting off hot water is a fairly common occurrence these days. This happens due to repair work or for preventive purposes. However, this brings a number of inconveniences to residents. In order to have a constant supply of hot water, many people install water heaters. They become an indispensable assistant in an apartment, house or country house, and you can choose them to suit every taste.

Peculiarities

Water heaters come in several varieties, each with its own characteristics. When choosing, you should take into account the requirements for a device of one type or another, and also carefully study the installation diagram in the room. Water heaters can be of several types depending on the method of their placement - vertical, horizontal, built-in.

High-quality water heaters should have a number of features:

  • must have the possibility of protective shutdown;
  • have an overheating protection function;
  • manufacturing materials must be of high quality;
  • the heating element must be coated with an anti-corrosion compound;
  • there must be good thermal insulation;
  • the presence of an energy-saving function.

The manufacturer must provide a guarantee for the product, so that if problems arise, you can contact the service center.

Kinds

The entire variety of modern water heaters is divided into two subtypes:

  • electrical;
  • gas.

Each of them, in turn, has its own varieties.

Electric water heaters can be:

  • accumulative;
  • flow-through;
  • flow-storage;
  • liquid

Gas devices are divided into:

  • accumulative;
  • flow-through.

But there is also the new kind water heaters are indirect, which are also worth mentioning. In order to decide on the choice of a suitable water heater, you need to understand all its options. Electric water heaters have differences in the design of the system, as well as operating principles.

Electric storage water heaters also have a second name - boiler. They come in cylindrical or rectangular shapes. Their volume can range from 30 to 200 liters. Water is heated thanks to special heating elements, the number of which can also vary. They can be turned on either simultaneously or separately to save energy.

Thermometers are used to control the water heating temperature, and thermostats are used to maintain it. A storage water heater always contains a certain amount of water.

It is heated using one of two elements.

  • heating element (tubular electric heater). It is inexpensive and easy to operate and repair. They can be purchased at any store. Heating elements have the only drawback - a long time for heating water.
  • Spiral heating element. They are expensive and more difficult to repair and replace. But they are able to quickly heat a large amount of water, as well as maintain the required temperature.

The operating principle of this type of water heater does not depend on the installed heat element. As soon as a certain temperature is reached, the heating turns off. The temperature is maintained automatically. But after cooling occurred, or added new batch cold water, the heating element turns on. Water heaters of this type most often have two modes: automatic heating or manual.

To maintain water temperature for a long time, insulation is often used. It fits between the body and the tank. The case itself does not heat up, and the water inside will be hot even during the day.

The advantages of storage electric water heaters include:

  • simultaneous supply of water to several water supply points;
  • low energy consumption;
  • slight cooling of water;
  • stability of the supplied water temperature;
  • ease of use;
  • large selection of devices.

There are also several disadvantages:

  • large dimensions of the devices;
  • long heating time.

There is also the simplest option - manual water heaters without a thermostat. But they are extremely inconvenient and can quickly fail if you do not turn off the device in time.

Water heaters with separate activation of several heating elements are very convenient. Two or more of them can be installed. Therefore, it becomes possible to use heating in several modes. The most powerful is the inclusion of all heating elements. This allows you to quickly heat large quantities of water. To maintain the temperature, as well as for slight heating, you can use one or two heating elements. This mode results in significant energy savings.

Instantaneous water heaters are smaller in size. They are a small box that is placed on the wall. It also has a spiral-shaped heating element installed, as well as a small tank. IN this option The water heater has a flow sensor. It turns on the heating element when the tap opens. After closing it, the sensor turns off the heating element. There is also a thermostat with which you can set the required water temperature. It can be in the form of a lever, a button, or located on a touch screen.

Instantaneous water heaters, in turn, are divided into:

  • pressure;
  • non-pressure.

Pressure water heaters are distinguished by the fact that they are connected to centralized system water supply. They can supply hot water directly to the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. The power of such devices varies from 8 to 32 kW. More powerful ones must be powered from a 380 W outlet.

Non-pressure water heaters must be connected to cold water. They have a hose or tap. Such devices are well suited for the garden.

It is necessary to take into account that when installing pressure and non-pressure water heaters, a grounding device is required. It is better to supply power separately due to the high power of the devices. They must be used carefully, as water may get into electrical appliance, which can lead to a short circuit and even a fire. Therefore, it is better to connect directly to an electrical panel with a separate circuit breaker and the presence of an RCD.

Instantaneous water heaters can be controlled in two ways.

  • Hydraulic - using a flow sensor. It turns the heating element on or off. May have several power modes that can be changed manually.
  • Electronic - using a microprocessor. He is able to support desired temperature using special sensors.

Hydraulic control can heat the water slightly - by 20-25 degrees. Therefore, in summer the water will be hotter, and in winter it will be quite cool.

The advantages of this type of water heater:

  • continuous supply of hot water;
  • electricity is saved, as it is used only when supplying water;
  • small sizes;
  • easy installation;
  • ease of use of the device.

  • the need for a separate power supply line;
  • The resulting water temperature depends on the incoming water.

Electronic control helps to heat the water more strongly, as they have high power. But their price is much higher. Their advantage is to obtain the desired water temperature at any time of the year.

There are also specific models of instantaneous water heaters. These include a faucet equipped with a water heater. This option is perfect for a cottage or country house. It looks like an ordinary mixer, only it has larger size. It contains a heating element and is connected to the mains.

This device has several operating modes:

  • off state, at this time it is de-energized;
  • cold water - heating is turned off;
  • hot water - the heating turns on, the water heats up in five to ten seconds.

Temperature adjustment occurs by increasing or decreasing water pressure.

This type of water heater has its undeniable advantages:

  • very fast heating of water, it can cope with large volumes of water and even quickly fill a bathtub;
  • there are no differences in the temperature of the supplied water;
  • it is very compact and does not take up extra space in room;
  • fits perfectly into the interior;
  • has a low cost compared to other water heater options - this is the most affordable option.

The disadvantages include:

  • high energy consumption;
  • has a lower throughput when compared with a gas water heater.

When choosing such a device, you need to pay attention to its safety.

  • The water heater must have an RCD that protects against sudden electric shock.
  • Overheat protection must be installed. The sensor should turn off the heating at a temperature of + 60 degrees Celsius.
  • Impossibility of “dry” switching. The device will not turn on if there is no water or very low pressure.
  • Water hammer protection must be installed.
  • All parts of the water heater must be protected with waterproof materials and be sealed.

Flow-through storage water heaters are a combination of two versions of such devices. They have a boiler, most often small in size (up to 30 liters), as well as a flow-through unit. At low flow rates of hot water, it is supplied from the tank; at large volumes, a heating element is used.

This type of water heater combines several positive points, which include:

  • small dimensions of the device;
  • constant water temperature;
  • fast heating;
  • convenience;
  • easy installation.

But it is worth considering that such units are found on modern market quite infrequently.

Bulk water heaters are good if there is no running water. They are perfect for the garden. They are a container with a heating element that heats the water. There is a thermostat for setting the water heating temperature. Models are available with and without a pump.

Such devices have the following functions:

  • setting and maintaining the required temperature;
  • automatic heating shutdown;
  • presence of indicators.

Bulk water heaters are produced only in Russia.

The most common manufacturers are:

  • "Alvin EVBO";
  • "Fairy tale";
  • "Success";
  • "Aquarius".

These devices operate from the electrical network and are connected to a 220 V outlet.

Storage gas water heaters have much in common with electric ones.

They consist of:

  • tank with insulation;
  • magnesium anode;
  • pipes for connecting hot and cold water;
  • burners;
  • flue;
  • hoods;
  • control unit.

After the boiler is filled with water, the burner is turned on using piezo or electric ignition, the water is heated, which stops as soon as the set temperature is reached. This unit is equipped with a draft sensor and flame controller for safety. The combustion chamber can be open or closed. In the first case, combustion products escape through the chimney, in the second - through a special pipe.

The advantages of such models include:

  • inexpensive energy costs;
  • the ability to connect several points simultaneously;
  • high heating rate;
  • uniform water temperature;
  • ease of operation.

Among the disadvantages are:

  • the need for chimney design with an open chamber;
  • high installation cost.

Instantaneous gas water heaters are distinguished by the fact that water does not accumulate in them. Once the faucet is turned on, it heats up as it passes through the water heater.

Such devices consist of:

  • a small case attached to the wall;
  • burners;
  • heat exchanger;
  • pipes;
  • chimney;
  • control control unit.

In order to turn on the water heater, you need to open the tap or press the button. The burner is ignited by ignition and heats the water in the heat exchanger. Devices can be of both low and high power (from 11 kW to 30 kW and more).

The advantages of such water heaters include:

  • uninterrupted supply of hot water;
  • water supply to several points;
  • almost instant heating;
  • ease of use and ease of repair;
  • compact type of device.

As for the shortcomings, there are much fewer of them:

  • performance depends on gas and water pressure;
  • complexity of installation.

If there is no gas in the apartment or house, you can use liquid propane cylinders. Special water heaters are available for sale for this purpose. When using this method, you must carefully adhere to the rules for the safe use of devices.

Indirect water heaters are distinguished by the fact that they operate from the heating system boiler.

They consist of:

  • insulated tank;
  • anode;
  • brass heat exchanger;
  • inputs for connecting hot and cold water;
  • control unit.

The operation of this type of water heater is based on connection to the heating circuit. Water is supplied to the radiators, as well as to the boiler, where it is heated and supplied.

Such boilers enjoy a number of advantages, including:

  • increased productivity;
  • low cost of hot water:
  • the water is immediately supplied hot;
  • cools down quite slowly (up to 4 degrees per day);
  • ease of use.

Like all devices, indirect water heaters have a number of disadvantages:

  • high cost of equipment;
  • bulkiness;
  • insignificant heat extraction from heating

Material

In storage water heaters, the most important thing is the material of the tank. They can be made of ordinary steel or stainless steel. The usual one is additionally coated with enamel. Naturally, the tanks are from of stainless steel more reliable and durable. Enameled ones deteriorate faster. But, accordingly, stainless steel ones are much more expensive than regular ones. To extend the life of the enamel, magnesium anodes are additionally installed, which must be changed periodically. A sensor monitors their condition.

As for instantaneous water heaters, they can be made from:

  • copper - it quickly heats water, as it has excellent thermal conductivity properties;
  • stainless steel - such products are durable, but you need to take into account that the water should not be very hard;
  • plastic - they are not very durable, but they are low in cost.

The most reliable devices are copper ones. But their price is quite high.

Dimensions

The sizes of water heaters depend on their type. Flow models are always much smaller in size compared to storage models. Flow-through can be in sizes from 190 mm by 150 mm to 300 mm by 200 mm, while storage ones can be from 420 mm by 900 mm to 600 mm by 1200 mm. For the latter, the dimensions depend on the water tank. It can have a capacity from 30 to 200 liters.

DIY selection and installation

Before purchasing and installing a water heater, you need to decide on the choice of a suitable device.

Need to consider:

  • hot water consumption;
  • number of points connected to the system;
  • modes of use;
  • main characteristics - type, volume, power, performance;
  • shape and material;
  • installation method.

Only after all the parameters have been determined can you safely go to the store to make a purchase.

Before starting work on installing and connecting the water heater, it is better to prepare all the necessary tools:

  • roulette;
  • hammer drill or impact drill;
  • fasteners;
  • adjustable and regular wrenches, as well as pliers;
  • tees for connecting to water supply;
  • shut-off valves;
  • sealants;
  • flexible hoses.

And it is also worth taking into account connection features, such as pipe extensions and piping. In this case, it is also worth purchasing materials in advance. In addition, the connection of the water heater depends on the type of pipeline in the house or apartment.

  • Polypropylene pipeline. To work with it you will need a soldering device and a pipe cutter. All connecting devices must be purchased from appropriate materials. In the case of an open pipeline, the work will be quite simple, but if the communications are hidden, you will need to open them.
  • Metal-plastic pipeline. This type is usually not hidden, so the work will be easy. A fitting is used for installation; their selection is very extensive, so there will be no problems with the purchase.
  • Steel pipeline. To work with this option you will need welding machine. But you can also use a special “vampire tee”. This is the same clamp that is put on the pipe and secured with screws. To seal, you need to use a rubber gasket. After its installation, a hole is made in the pipeline. A tap and a hose suitable for the water heater are installed on the outlet.

It’s also better to draw a diagram for connecting the water heater and mark the connection points to the water supply.

Immediately before installation you need:

  • clear and prepare space for installation;
  • make sure the wall is strong enough;
  • make sure the quality of the wiring, as well as select one suitable for installation;
  • make sure the water pipes are working properly.

For error-free installation, be sure to read the instructions for the water heater. Immediately before installation, it is necessary to turn off the water and also turn off the electricity. To connect high-power devices, you will additionally need a three-core copper wire with a thick wire cross-section, a meter of at least 40 A, a grounded socket, a circuit breaker and electrical tape. It is imperative to pay great attention to the strength of the wall when installing large boilers. When installing it, anchors and especially strong hooks are used. It is more convenient to place devices with a volume of more than 200 liters on the floor.

It is better to carry out installation in pairs with an assistant to facilitate the process. Installation of flow and storage devices is carried out in a similar way.

The first step is installation on the wall.

  • It marks the bottom line of the boiler installation. Next, measure the distance to the mounting strip. Particular care must be taken when marking the upper boundary so that the top of the water heater does not rest against the ceiling.
  • Next you need to make holes for the fasteners. For concrete and brick, you will need an electric drill with a Pobedit drill bit. For wood, you can use the usual one. The diameter of the tip should be less than the diameter of the dowel.
  • Then you need to drive two dowels in parallel, tighten the anchors and hang the water heater.

The second stage is connecting to the water supply. Using flexible hoses or plastic pipes, you need to connect the device to the water supply. Usage polypropylene pipes will cost more and the work will be more difficult. Next, you need to insert the pipes into the main water supply. When connecting the boiler, you need to pay attention to which pipe is connected to cold and which to hot water. They are marked with colors - blue for cold water, red for hot water.

You need to install a special check valve on the cold water pipe, which relieves the increased pressure. This happens automatically and prevents damage to the unit. If such a valve is not included in the kit, it is better to purchase it yourself. To install it, you need to wind FUM tape on one of the ends for better insulation and connect it to the valve. The other can be left without sealant and screwed to the pipe.

When installing an instantaneous water heater for infrequent use, it can be connected to a shower hose. And only cold water is connected to the unit itself.

To do this you need:

  • shut off the water supply;
  • cut the pipe;
  • cut threads;
  • wind the seal;
  • connect the tee;
  • install a tap;
  • connect to the boiler with a flexible hose.

Check the tightness; to do this, you need to let in the water, fill the boiler and leave it for a while. If there are no leaks, you can connect the device to electricity. The third stage of installation is connecting to the electrical network. Usually a cable and plug are included, but if not, you will need to purchase them.

When working with the electrical network, be sure to follow safety regulations.

  • The first step is to install a grounded outlet. After this, you can connect the boiler to the network.
  • Once connected, the indicator light will light up. Next, you can configure the water heater: set the temperature, heating time.

Installation floor water heater The only difference is that you don’t need to hang it. It is also attached to the wall, connected to water supply and power supply.

Gas

Installing a horizontal gas water heater is more difficult than an electric one. In this matter, it is better to turn to professionals. But in case of self-installation, you must strictly follow the instructions, symbols and rules. The ceiling height must be at least two meters, and the room area must be more than 7.5 square meters. meters. In addition, the room must have a window; in addition, the room must have a door. Most often, such devices are installed in the kitchen, next to the gas pipe.

Very in a good way Detection of gas leaks is the installation of a gas analyzer. Such a device detects a propane leak and gives a warning signal. But ventilation is also required. For proper operation of a gas water heater, a chimney must be connected to it. It may be included in common system or taken separately directly to the street. It should not have more than two right angle bends, and its total length should not exceed three meters. When installing equipment on wooden wall the chimney should not come into contact with it. Be sure to lay thermal insulation, for example, from mineral wool.

Need to know that gas water heater should not be placed on a load-bearing wall. The distance to the opposite wall must be at least one meter. Gas pipes must not be installed in walls. But you also need to take into account that gas equipment cannot be placed above the stove. It is not advisable for the water heater to be exposed to constant sunlight and overheated. In order to check the tightness of gas pipes, you can use ordinary soap. It needs to be dissolved in a container of water, and then applied to the pipe joints with a brush. If bubbles appear, there is a leak. And it must be urgently eliminated. It is prohibited to check pipes for leaks using fire. This can lead to irreparable consequences.

Electric

An electric water heater is most often installed in the bathroom. In order to save space, it is better to place it above the toilet, because above it there is free place. It is not recommended to install the device above a sink or sink to avoid water getting on the electrics. To install and connect the unit to the electrical network, it is necessary to install a grounded socket in the toilet.

In order to quickly, reliably and correctly install a water heater with your own hands, as well as use it safely, It is better to follow these tips:

  • It is best to place the device closer to the point of connection to the water supply;
  • when installing, it is necessary to take into account the individual characteristics of the unit - whether it is vertical or horizontal, the location of the communications connection;
  • it can be installed at any height, as long as there is space up to the ceiling;
  • if the water pressure in the apartment or house is low, it is better not to install the water heater high, the water will flow poorly;
  • there should be an approach to the boiler mounting location for more convenient use and repair;
  • to connect an electric water heater, be sure to use a grounded power line;

  • you cannot turn on the device if there is no water in the tank, this can lead to breakdown of the heating elements;
  • It is recommended to turn on the device at maximum power for several hours once or twice a month to destroy bacteria appearing in the tank;
  • on cold water you need to install a mesh filter, and if the water is too hard, then it is better to install additional purification;
  • every few years it is necessary to clean the tank from any scale that appears and replace the magnesium anode;
  • if you use the boiler constantly, then it will be more economical not to disconnect it from the network, since it takes less energy to maintain the temperature, but if it is needed several times a day, then it is better to turn it off;
  • When using an instantaneous water heater, it is better not to allow a constant flow of water, as this will consume more electricity, but if you close the tap and open the water only as needed, you will be able to save money.

If rusty water starts flowing from the boiler, it means copper pipe, to which it is connected, rusts. It is better to replace it with metal-plastic or polypropylene. If the pressure of the supplied water drops, then in this case the problem may not even be in the water heater itself, but in the tap. The aerator there could be clogged; it needs to be removed and cleaned.

Successful examples and options

You can install a water heater anywhere, where it is really needed - in an apartment in a multi-storey building, in a private house, or in a country house. For any room you can choose the most suitable option. You can choose large storage boilers or compact flow-through ones. The choice of water heaters is very large. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately determine which company is better. Each manufacturer is good in its own way, and you need to choose the appropriate option based on personal preferences and individual features of installation and use.

Among storage water heaters, the following are especially distinguished:

  • Thermex is the most affordable water heater with a stainless steel tank;
  • Real – boilers good quality, the only negative is that it is difficult to find consumables;
  • OSO are very high quality units, but are very expensive;
  • Electrolux (AEG) is a popular company, good quality.

But also manufacturers that produce quality products include: Timberk, Baxi, Bosch and Gorenje.

Of course, for the modern buyer, along with the quality of the product, its cost is also important.

If we talk about inexpensive but high-quality models suitable for different options placements, the following can be distinguished:

  • for a summer residence - Timberk WHEL-3 OSC electric flow-through version, has a spout and shower head, its cost is up to 3 thousand rubles;
  • for an apartment - Bosch 13-2G instantaneous gas water heater costs up to 16,500 rubles; Gorenje GBFU 100 E B6 storage electric boiler, has two heating elements, costs up to 15,300 rubles;
  • for a private home - Electrolux NPX 8 Flow Active instantaneous electric water heater, has electronic control, costs up to 14,700 rubles; Baxi Premier plus 200 indirect water heater, has the ability to install a heating element, costs up to 52,200 rubles.

A good example The economical use of boilers is to insulate its tank. For this you can use foam propylene or isolon. The insulation can be secured with glue or tied to the tank. It helps the water cool down more slowly, thus saving energy. But another method of insulation is also possible - install a smaller tank inside a larger tank. As for the installation of water heaters, the choice of option depends primarily on safety factors.
