Domed stainless steel false bottom
Thanks to the dome shape, tray space is reduced to a minimum, which increases mashing efficiency. The false bottom is connected to the drain valve silicone tubeø 9 mm, which is included in the kit.
Also, at your request, we can equip the boiler with a flat false bottom on legs.
Stainless steel ball valve
Exclusive ball valve made of AISI 304 stainless steel. Designed and manufactured specifically for installation in a wort boiler. Reliably, hermetically and with a minimum of effort it is installed in the hole using one nut. No additional fittings or adapters are required. There are no leaks on the threads due to the design of the faucet. There is no brass or rubber.
Intake tube
The intake pipe is an angular pipe that is attached to the tap thread from the inside of the boiler using a union nut. Sealing is ensured by a silicone O-ring. Now you don’t need to tilt the boiler to drain the remaining wort - to do this, install an intake and point it down.
The elbow pipe can be used as a guide tube for the whirlpool. To do this, you will need additional accessories (pump, tap with nut). The whirlpool tube is installed in the middle part of the boiler (for example, instead of a thermometer) and is directed in a horizontal plane.
Stainless steel thermometer
High-quality bimetallic thermometer in a stainless steel case with an impressive diameter of 83 mm.
The thermometer is hermetically installed in the boiler hole using the included fitting.
The hermetic design of the thermometer eliminates the need to use an additional protective sleeve. The sleeves slow down the thermometer's response to temperature changes and are usually made of nickel. In this solution, the stainless steel probe is located directly in the wort and reads the temperature directly.
There is a calibration screw.
Analysis of the chemical composition of boiler steel
The 42-liter mash and wort kettle is equipped with the necessary accessories for grain brewing: a false bottom, a thermometer and a tap. The boiler is made of food grade stainless steel AISI 304 and can be used on all types of stoves. The thickened multi-layer bottom evenly distributes heat, thereby protecting the wort from burning. Most often, the filter system in homemade mash boilers is designed in two versions:
- False bottom with fitting;
- Filter on the drain tap.
Today I would like to present you with several options for making a false bottom. Of course, you can buy it in a specialized store, but it will not always fit the size of your boiler, and you don’t always want to pay from 2000 to 5000 “wooden” for it.
False bottom from a sieve.
In my opinion, this is the simplest solution you can come up with. In addition, its cost is very low. So on the Internet I found a regular flour sieve for 150 rubles. Next, we need to do a minimum of manipulations with it:
- We will need to cut off the “filling” part.
- Next, we make a hole in the center and insert the fitting; it will be a big plus if your fitting has a fastening nut. This nut will press our fitting to the mesh from the reverse side.
As a result, we get a simple and cheap analogue what the stores offer us.
It is very important to pay attention to the sieve itself. Firstly, its diameter must match the internal diameter of the vat so that the grain cannot leak out. Secondly, the sieve should not be too small and too large, ideally the mesh is 3-4 mm.
False bottom made of mesh.
Another simple way to make a false bottom similar to the previous one. To do this, you will need to purchase a regular stainless mesh, very fine (3-4 mm), so that the “grass” (detailed malt) does not slip through it.
Manufacturing:
- We measure the diameter of our wort boiler and cut out a circle of the same diameter from our mesh.
- We insert the fitting as in the previous version.
The disadvantage of such a homemade product is the absence of a rim for structural strength.
False bottom made of stainless steel sheet.
Frankly, I didn’t make it similar option. Although it is not difficult, it is just a little more labor-intensive. To make a false bottom, we need a stainless steel sheet, metal scissors, a drill, 3-4 mm drills and the same fitting.
Manufacturing:
- We measure the diameter of the wort boiler, draw a circle of the same diameter on a sheet of stainless steel;
- Cut out a circle with scissors;
- Place the cut sheet on wooden surface, which we don’t mind and drill a large number of small holes;
- We measure the diameter of the fitting and drill a hole for it, insert the fitting.
If you have a disc drill, it is easier to make thin cuts in the sheet.
